The aircraft we put on Irish routes sit at Farnborough, Biggin Hill and Luton, with several based at Belfast, Manchester and Liverpool that make a same-day booking straightforward.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Ireland depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Belfast Airport, a Citation Mustang, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Ireland?

Ireland is the shortest international hop we operate, and from the west of Britain the ground time genuinely exceeds the air time. These are the figures from gate to gate:

Belfast to Dublin
74 nautical miles, and shorter than a good many domestic British sectors
about 25 minutes
Liverpool or Manchester to Dublin
123 and 143 nautical miles across the Irish Sea
30 to 35 minutes
Glasgow or Edinburgh to Dublin
160 and 182 nautical miles
35 to 40 minutes
London to Dublin
234 nautical miles, and a little over half an hour of it in the air
about 1 h 05 min
London to Cork
301 nautical miles to the south coast
about 1 h 15 min
London to Shannon or Kerry
318 and 338 nautical miles to the Atlantic side
1 h 20 to 1 h 25 min

On a sector this short the ground is where the time goes

Belfast to Dublin is around ten minutes in the air. Everything else in that twenty-five is taxi, handling and the walk to the aircraft, and the same proportion holds across the Irish Sea from Liverpool or Manchester. That changes what the aircraft is for. On a Mediterranean route a private jet saves you hours of flying; here it saves you the airport, which for a morning of meetings in Dublin and a return the same afternoon is usually the point.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures

– On a hop this brief the handling, the crew hours and the positioning of the aircraft carry almost the whole figure, and the fuel is close to an afterthought. That is why the cheapest line here is barely half the cheapest line on any other country page;

– A short sector cuts both ways. It puts a private jet within reach for a trip that would not justify one to Nice, but it also means the saving over a scheduled flight is measured in convenience rather than hours.

Private jet flights within Ireland

Ireland is small enough that internal flying is a niche rather than a habit, and most of it is either golf, the west coast, or a connection onto a transatlantic departure. These are the sectors we quote:

Two things worth knowing about the internal sectors

– Nothing internal runs past forty-five minutes, and the drive is often competitive. Where the aircraft earns its place is the western fields, where the road from Dublin takes three hours or more;

– Because the country sits on the Atlantic edge of Europe, aircraft positioning for transatlantic departures pass through constantly, and those movements feed the empty legs back to Britain.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

  • Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 4900 to 5800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Business liners - from 10300 GBP per flight hour;
  • Light jet - from 2100 to 3000 GBP per flight hour;
  • Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 5800 to 8800 GBP per flight hour;
  • Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3000 to 3700 GBP per flight hour;
  • Turboprops - from 850 GBP per flight hour.
  • Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 4600 to 5500 GBP per flight hour;
  • Small jet, from 1700 to 2500 GBP per flight hour;

Private jets are ready to take off

Turboprops

The natural class for internal Irish flying and for the western strips, where the runway is short and the sector is forty minutes. They handle a grass or a small field better than any jet.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · up to 9 seatsfrom 1,600 EUR/h
Beechcraft King Air 250 · 7 seatsfrom 1,750 EUR/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom 1,900 EUR/h
Piaggio P180 Avanti II · 8 seatsfrom 2,300 EUR/h

Light jets

The bulk of the traffic from Britain, and on a sector this short there is rarely an argument for anything larger unless the party or the luggage demands it.

Cessna Citation Mustang · 4 seatsfrom 2,000 EUR/h
Cessna Citation CJ2+ · 6 seatsfrom 2,300 EUR/h
Cessna Citation M2 · 7 seatsfrom 2,500 EUR/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 8 seatsfrom 2,700 EUR/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom 2,850 EUR/h

Super-midsize

Where a golf party with clubs usually lands, and where the London departures settle. The hold decides it more often than the seat count does on Irish bookings.

Bombardier Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom 3,000 EUR/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom 3,300 EUR/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom 3,900 EUR/h
Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom 4,600 EUR/h

Heavy jets

For a larger group, and for the client who is continuing to America afterwards and wants one aircraft for the whole journey rather than two.

Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom 5,000 EUR/h

Ultra-long range

Rare on the British sector and common at Shannon, where they stop for fuel, for pre-clearance or for both before crossing the Atlantic.

Dassault Falcon 8X · 14 seatsfrom 7,200 EUR/h
Bombardier Global 6000 · 13 seatsfrom 7,400 EUR/h

Business aviation airports in Ireland

Ireland has a small number of fields for private jet work and they divide cleanly: Dublin for the city, Shannon for the Atlantic, Cork and Kerry for the south, and a handful of regional strips that exist because the roads out west do not. These are the fields a private jet from Britain actually lands at:

Airport Ground How it operates
Dublin
DUB / EIDW
10 km to the centre The main gateway and where most of our Irish traffic lands. Three business aviation handlers, a dedicated general aviation terminal and clearance that usually runs to ten or fifteen minutes. Dublin is on the doorstep
Weston
EIWT
15 km to the centre A dedicated general aviation field west of the city, closer to the K Club and the Kildare estates than Dublin airport is. Light aircraft and turboprops only, and no customs, so it works for internal legs rather than arrivals from Britain
Shannon
SNN / EINN
25 km to Limerick The transatlantic field and the western gateway, with a runway that takes anything flying and a general aviation apron that rarely fills. Shannon also serves Limerick, the golf coast and the whole mid-west
Cork
ORK / EICK
8 km to the centre The south, and the closest field to Kinsale and the west Cork coast. Cork handles any midsize type and is quieter than Dublin at every hour
Kerry
KIR / EIKY
15 km to Killarney The south-west and the Ring of Kerry, and the field behind most of the links golf traffic. Takes light and midsize aircraft
Galway and Knock
GWY and NOC
the west Galway for the city and Connemara, Knock for Mayo and the northern half of the west coast
Waterford and Sligo
WAT and SXL
regional fields Waterford for the south-east and the Copper Coast, Sligo for the north-west and Yeats country
Donegal
CFN / EIDL
the far north-west The most remote field on the island and the one where the drive from Dublin genuinely justifies the flight, at three and a half hours by road

Shannon is the reason a lot of American trips route through Ireland

Shannon is the only airport in Europe where a private aircraft can complete full United States border clearance before departure. Passengers see American immigration, customs and agriculture officers on Irish soil, and the aircraft then lands anywhere in the States as a domestic arrival, using the domestic terminal and skipping the queue entirely. It needs twenty-four hours of notice and the process itself takes the better part of an hour. For a client flying from Britain to America it turns an awkward international arrival into an ordinary one, and it is the single most useful thing Ireland offers that no neighbouring country can.

PassportsNo immigration control between Britain and Ireland under the Common Travel Area
CustomsIreland is in the EU and Britain is not, so goods are declared even though people are not checked
TurnaroundsForty-five minutes wheels down to wheels up is realistic at every Irish field
WeatherShannon closes for weather less often than almost any airport in Europe
FuelAmong the cheapest in Europe, which is why so many Atlantic crossings tanker here
US pre-clearanceShannon only, twenty-four hours of notice, roughly an hour on the day

Which airport for which part of Ireland

Irish bookings tend to start with a golf course, a house or a wedding rather than a city, and the useful field is often not the obvious one. These are the pairings behind most of our Irish private jet bookings:

The K Club and the Kildare estates
a fifteen minute drive to the first tee, if the aircraft is small enough for the field
Weston, 11 km
Adare Manor and Dromoland
the two houses that draw most of our Irish golf traffic, both minutes from the field
Shannon, 7 to 18 km
Ballybunion and the Ring of Kerry
the south-western links, and the field that saves four hours of driving from Dublin
Kerry, about 40 km
Lahinch and the Clare coast
the Atlantic links and the Cliffs of Moher on the same road
Shannon, 38 km
Kinsale and west Cork
Old Head is the draw, and the drive along the harbour is part of it
Cork, 27 km
Connemara and Mayo
the west coast proper, and the part of Ireland least served by road from the capital
Galway or Knock

Three things that shape an Irish booking

– Golf drives the summer calendar here the way skiing drives the Alpine one. A four-ball with clubs needs a bigger hold than four people with overnight bags, and that often moves the quote up a class;

– The western strips are smaller and less equipped than Dublin or Shannon, so on a marginal day they close first and the alternate is usually a longer drive rather than another airport;

– The sector is short enough that a same-day return works from anywhere in Britain, including Scotland, which is not true of any other country on this site.

Flying to Ireland with a dog or a cat

Ireland is the one country on this site where the paperwork for an animal on a private jet is genuinely different from the European norm, and the difference catches people out because the passport rules are so relaxed.

The one fact to read before you book

You need no passport check to enter Ireland from Britain, but your dog does need a full Animal Health Certificate. Ireland is in the European Union and Britain is not, so an animal arriving is an import into the Union and the certificate rules apply exactly as they would in France or Spain: an Official Veterinarian, dated within ten days of travel, valid for return journeys for six months afterwards. Ireland also requires tapeworm treatment for dogs on the way in, between one and five days before arrival, which is the reverse of most European destinations where the worming applies only on the way home.

  • An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
  • Rabies vaccination at least 21 days old on the day you land, given when the animal was at least 12 weeks;
  • An Animal Health Certificate dated no more than ten days before travel;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs before arrival in Ireland, and again before returning to Britain;
  • Up to five animals per booking without commercial documentation.

Cats need the same list without either worming. The Irish tapeworm rule is the item that trips up owners who have flown a dog to half of Europe without ever needing it on the outbound leg, and it is worth reading twice. Beyond that the trip is the easiest we handle: barely half an hour in the air from London and less from the west, a temperate apron at both ends, and no hold, so a large dog travels exactly as a small one does.

Worming on the way in
one to five days before arrival, which most European destinations do not ask for
required for dogs
Worming on the way back
a separate treatment by an Irish vet, one to five days before the return
required again
Flight time from London
short enough that most animals do not settle before the descent starts
about 1 h 05 min
Certificate validity
one document covers a season for an owner with a house there
six months of return trips

Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Ireland). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

A selection of empty legs that have run on the Irish routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:

How to read those figures

– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 350 home from Shannon at 4,800 EUR carrying nine works out at a little over five hundred a head;

– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. A Citation XLS+ home from Dublin at 3,400 EUR against 8,200 for a fresh charter out of Luton is the saving in plain terms;

– A standing window with us catches far more of these than watching a page does, and on Irish routes the window can be narrow: tell us the week rather than the day and the odds improve sharply.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Ireland uses the helicopter alongside the private jet more than its size suggests, because the country houses, the links courses and the racing venues sit in places no runway reaches:

Dublin to the Kildare estates
the K Club, Punchestown and the stud farms, against an hour in city traffic
about 12 minutes
Dublin to the Curragh and the racing
and on race days the pads fill as fast as the grandstand does
about 15 minutes
Shannon to Adare and the golf coast
when the party is going straight from the aircraft to the first tee
about 15 minutes
Cork to Kinsale and the west Cork coast
the coastal houses and Old Head, where the road is slow and scenic in equal measure
about 20 minutes
Dublin to Ashford Castle and Connemara
the long one, and the leg that replaces a three hour drive across the country
about 50 minutes

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most estate and golf transfers, and precise into a lawn or a paddock;

– Airbus H130 for a group of six, quieter and roomier, and the usual choice on the longer western legs;

– Twin-engine types such as the H145 where the route runs along the Atlantic coast and the weather can turn inside an hour.

Two points on Irish rotary legs

– Wind rather than rain is what cancels a leg here. An Atlantic front that leaves the jets running normally can put the western transfers on the ground, so a car stays arranged behind every one;

– Hotel and estate landing sites are widely available and Irish operators use them constantly, but a race meeting or a tournament fills them months ahead.

What our clients say about flying to Ireland

A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.

GOLF

“Already planning the next one”

Biggin Hill to Shannon · Challenger 350 · The Ashworth four-ball

“Ballybunion and Lahinch in a single trip. A separate word for the team: no detail is overlooked, and the suggestions on dinners and logistics were spot on. It felt like working with an extension of our own group. The highest recommendation I can give is that we are already planning the next trip with them.”

THE WORMING RULE

“Before we went, not after”

Manchester to Dublin · Citation M2 · Fiona and Murphy

“I had no idea the dog needed tapeworm treatment in a window of 24 to 120 hours BEFORE arrival into Ireland. I assumed we would sort it after landing. Thankfully Bill flagged it early and booked the vet for the right day, otherwise we simply would not have flown. The flight itself was an hour, and Murphy slept at my feet.”

SHORT HOP

“Twenty-five minutes, which still amuses me”

Belfast to Dublin · Citation Mustang · Gerald M.

“Twenty-five minutes door to door, which still makes me laugh. From the car park to take-off took just a few minutes, quicker than I normally spend finding a space at the terminal. Quick, safe, comfortable.”

ONWARD TO AMERICA

“We landed in New York as a domestic flight”

Luton to Shannon, then New York · Praetor 600 · Duncan R.

“We cleared US immigration and customs at Shannon while the aircraft was refuelled, and the whole process took well under an hour. In New York we were treated as a domestic arrival: off the aircraft and straight into the city, no border queues after the Atlantic. That alone justified routing through Ireland.”

THE WEST

“Three hours of driving became forty minutes”

Dublin to Knock · Pilatus PC-12 NGX · Aoife C.

“The team were attentive to every request we had and accommodated all of it. Three hours of driving west became forty minutes in the air. The experience exceeded my expectations, and I would recommend it to anyone heading for the west coast.”

EMPTY LEG

“On a par with four scheduled tickets”

Dublin to Luton · Citation XLS+ · Patrick D.

“The four of us took an empty leg home and the cost came out on a par with premium scheduled tickets, arguably below. For a spontaneous short trip it is the best format going.”

Frequently asked questions about flying to Ireland

1How long does it take to fly to Ireland by private jet?

About an hour and five minutes from London to Dublin, half an hour or so from Liverpool and Manchester, and closer to forty from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Belfast to Dublin is twenty-five minutes, the shortest international sector we fly. Cork and Shannon from London run to about an hour and twenty.

2How much does a private jet to Ireland cost?

From about 3,400 EUR one way from Belfast to Dublin on a very light jet, and 4,600 EUR from Manchester. London to Dublin starts around 8,200 EUR on a super-midsize cabin, Cork from Stansted around 10,300 EUR. Internal Irish legs start at about 3,200 EUR.

3Do I need a passport to fly from Britain to Ireland?

There is no immigration control between the two countries under the Common Travel Area, so a private arrival is not passport checked. Carriers and handlers still ask for photographic identification, and customs applies in full because Ireland is in the European Union and Britain is not, so goods are declared even though people are not.

4Can a private jet clear United States customs in Ireland?

Yes, at Shannon, which is the only airport in Europe offering full American pre-clearance to private aircraft. Passengers see United States immigration, customs and agriculture officers before departure and then land in America as a domestic arrival. It needs twenty-four hours of notice and takes roughly an hour on the day.

5Which airport is closest to the Irish golf courses?

It depends which coast. Shannon is seven kilometres from Dromoland and eighteen from Adare Manor, Kerry about forty from Ballybunion and the Ring of Kerry, and Cork twenty-seven from Old Head at Kinsale. Weston, west of Dublin, is eleven kilometres from the K Club. We work back from the course rather than from the city.
