Private jet charter in Klagenfurt

Britain's private flyers tend to file Klagenfurt under one of two headings, a summer lake or a winter ski base, and the charter looks very different depending on which one the trip belongs to. Private Jets UK arranges the flight around whichever it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Klagenfurt Airport is small, quick and has a 2,720 m runway, but it keeps shorter hours than the big gateways and is shut by half past eleven at night, so the real decisions here are the season, the size of the cabin and the time of the return.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Klagenfurt depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Klagenfurt?

Two hours and five minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, a few minutes less from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, and one hour of clock difference to remember on landing, because Carinthia keeps Central European time. At 654 to 928 nautical miles from the British fields we use, the route sits in the middle of short-haul range: far enough that a light jet is a proper sit, near enough that nothing needs a heavy cabin to make it. The table gives the sector from each airfield.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Take off from a London airfield at seven and you are on the ground at Klagenfurt a little after ten local time. The airport lies only a few kilometres from the old town, so a client who left a London office at half past six can be sitting down in Carinthia before lunch with the afternoon still intact. Add the drive to the British airfield and the passport check at the other end and the whole journey from central London to central Klagenfurt comes to roughly four hours. That matters because the scheduled alternative is thin. This is a small regional airport with few links, and a connection through Vienna or another hub adds hours to the day.

Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route

– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer and the saving over a midsize cabin is real. Two hours in a CJ3+ or a Phenom 300E is comfortable;

– Skis, boot bags, golf clubs, bike cases or a week of lakeside luggage change the arithmetic. Ski bags are long and a light-jet hold is not, so for a party of four in the ski season we quote a midsize jet beside the light one and let the figures decide;

– Heavy aircraft make sense only when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you across several European stops, or when Klagenfurt is the first leg of something longer than a weekend by the lake.

From a Carinthian runway: when the aircraft beats the road

Salzburg is 91 nautical miles from Klagenfurt and 232 km by road, a drive the route planners put at about two and a half hours. Venice is 290 km and around three hours ten minutes; Vienna is 325 km and about three hours twenty. A turboprop or a light jet turns each of them into a short flight. Inside Carinthia the arithmetic reverses: the lake, Villach and most of the ski areas are under an hour and a quarter from the airport, and a helicopter is the only aircraft that improves on a good driver.

Before you accept an onward quote

– Which airport, and when it shuts. Klagenfurt closes at 23:30 and at 22:00 on Saturdays, while Salzburg, the usual neighbour on an Austrian loop, has its last scheduled take-offs at about ten in the evening. A quote that ignores either will change;

– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Klagenfurt to Venice to Zagreb over a weekend costs less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Carinthia between every stop.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Klagenfurt:

Light jets, and where most lake bookings land

At a little over two hours this is still the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range for Klagenfurt, so the money goes on the flight hour and not on capability you will not use.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for ski bags and a week of luggage

Skis, boot bags, bike cases and golf clubs are what push a party past the light-jet hold, and the taller cabin makes the second hour easier on a group of six.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

For a party that travels as one group, for a team that wants to work on board, and for trips that carry on from Carinthia to the Mediterranean or the Gulf instead of turning round.

Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The right aircraft for the short hops out of Carinthia: Salzburg, Zagreb and Venice are each about a hundred nautical miles away, well inside what a turboprop does economically, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

Helicopters

Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a lakeside villa, a mountain hotel or a ski area an hour away by road. Austrian rules on where a helicopter may land outside an aerodrome are strict, so the site is agreed before the quote.

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. Klagenfurt is far enough from the big hubs that the aircraft for your date is often positioned from Vienna, Venice, Zagreb or Munich, and that positioning is where the better price usually comes from. A jet already in Austria, Slovenia or northern Italy has less empty flying to do before it reaches Carinthia than one coming out of Britain.

Business aviation airports in Klagenfurt

One airport does the work. The others earn their place when the clock, the fog or the geography says so, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.

Airport What it gives you
Klagenfurt am Wörthersee
KLU / LOWK
The answer for almost every trip. It lies a few kilometres north of the old town, at the eastern end of the lake, and its paved runway of 2,720 m is long enough for the large business jets. The airport runs its own general aviation service with passport and customs assistance and apron access for your own car. It is not a round-the-clock field: on the published schedule it opens at 05:45 on weekdays and Saturdays and at 07:00 on Sundays, and closes at 23:30, or at 22:00 on Saturdays. Slots are required
Ljubljana, Jože Pučnik
LJU / LJLJ
The foreign alternative, in Slovenia, at Brnik, about 26 km north of the capital. One asphalt runway of 3,300 m, customs on site and an operating day that is listed as round the clock, with reduced operations and prior permission at night. Slots are required and handling is compulsory. Klagenfurt to Ljubljana is about 86 km and an hour and a half by road. Worth a look when Klagenfurt has shut for the night, when fog sits in the basin, or when the meeting is really in Slovenia
Graz, Thalerhof
GRZ / LOWG
The Styrian alternative, about 139 km and an hour and a half by road to the east. A 3,000 m runway, customs and a Magnum FBO, with slots required and handling optional. It is the sensible diversion on a foggy morning and the right airport when the trip ends in Styria and not in Carinthia
Salzburg, W. A. Mozart
SZG / LOWS
About 232 km and two and a half hours from Klagenfurt by road. A 2,750 m runway, customs and a Magnum FBO, with slot rules to be confirmed for the date. Its last scheduled take-offs are at about ten in the evening, earlier than Klagenfurt, so it is a stop on a longer Austrian itinerary more than a substitute for Klagenfurt
Venice, Marco Polo
VCE / LIPZ
Roughly 290 km and three hours ten minutes by road, but listed because a good many Carinthian trips are really a Venice and Wörthersee pair. Two paved runways of 2,780 m and 3,300 m, and a dedicated general aviation operator on the water side of the field with its own water taxi docks

Four points settle most Klagenfurt arrivals:

Choose the handler

The airport's own general aviation service deals with passport and customs control, landing fees, weather and NOTAMs, crew hotels and transport, and Magnum FBO also lists Klagenfurt among its Austrian locations. Whoever is used, the airport wants a handling request for any aircraft above two tonnes, with registration, type, weight, times in UTC and passenger numbers. We file it, and the operator's preference settles which handler we use.

Hours, slots and fire cover

On the published schedule the airport shuts at 23:30 and at 22:00 on Saturdays, services after 23:30 may carry a surcharge, and an extension of operating hours can be asked for on the handling form. Slots are required. The same form asks for the fire category: raising the cover to category 7 needs eight hours' notice and to category 8 twenty-four, which matters for the largest cabins. A late return is planned backwards from closing time.

Border and passport

Austria is in Schengen and Britain is not, so the border check is done at Klagenfurt with help from the airport's general aviation service, which recommends 24 hours' notice of a VIP arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints.

Fuel and the car

Jet A-1 comes from the airport operator itself and is paid for by fuel card. On some days its refuelling hours are shorter than the airport's, and after 19:00 it needs a day's notice, so we ask for fuel with the booking. A car can drive onto the apron after a separate security check, so give us the driver's details with the flight.

business aviation

Border, passport and the Slovenian side

Ljubljana is the exception to the rule that the nearest airport wins. If the meeting is in Slovenia, or at Lake Bled, which is about 85 km and an hour and ten minutes from Klagenfurt by road, land at Brnik: for a flight from Britain the formalities are completed at the airport where you land, and the road onward is inside Schengen, though passports should be at hand in case of spot checks at the border. The reverse also works. A flight into Klagenfurt serves Bled and Ljubljana perfectly well when the clock favours Austria.

From the apron to the lake

Klagenfurt is a city of about 105,000 people at the eastern tip of a lake 16.5 km long, and almost everything a visitor wants is within an hour of the runway. The distances that matter run outward from there, to Villach, to the ski areas on the Carinthian side of the Alps and across the Karawanken range to Slovenia.

Airport to the old town and the Wörthersee beaches
a few kilometres, and the reason a quick lunch on the lake is realistic after a morning departure from London
10 to 15 minutes
Klagenfurt to Villach
about 39 km along the valley, the gateway to the western end of the lake and the Gerlitzen road
about 35 minutes
Airport to Gerlitzen
about 45 km to the closest of the ski areas listed here
about 30 minutes
Airport to Bad Kleinkirchheim
about 52 km to the ski village
about 50 minutes
Airport to Nassfeld
about 95 km towards the Italian border
about 1 h 10 min
Klagenfurt to Lake Bled
about 85 km across the Karawanken into Slovenia
about 1 h 10 min
Klagenfurt to Ljubljana
about 86 km by the Karawanks tunnel, the road that makes Brnik a workable alternate
about 1 h 30 min
Klagenfurt to Graz by road
about 139 km, the drive you face if fog sends the aircraft to Styria
about 1 h 35 min

Flying to Klagenfurt with a dog or a cat

Austria asks for more paperwork than the flight takes, and two hours in the air is short enough that most animals sleep through it. The animal sits in the cabin with you and no hold is involved. The date on the certificate is what trips owners up, because it lasts ten days for the entry check and not a day longer.

private flight with animals

What Austria asks for on a flight from Britain:

  • A microchip, implanted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
  • A rabies vaccination, given from the age of 12 weeks and valid only once 21 days have passed, so the animal must be at least 16 weeks old on arrival. No rabies blood test is needed from Britain;
  • An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, in German and English, valid for ten days from the day it is issued for the entry check;
  • A written declaration that the animal is not for sale or transfer, in German and English and in block capitals, on a separate form for dogs, cats and ferrets;
  • No more than five animals on one certificate, declared to customs on arrival through the red channel. Klagenfurt is one of the airports where that declaration is made;
  • For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and five days before re-entering Great Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.

What catches owners out on a Carinthian trip

– Austria asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in, only before the way home, so the appointment is one you book with a vet in Klagenfurt, and on a weekend trip that means asking about Saturday opening hours before you leave Britain;

– The certificate belongs to the journey. A new one is needed for every trip, and the return to Great Britain depends on the animal coming back within the certificate's validity, which current UK government guidance puts at six months from entry into the EU;

– A dog is easy to bring and harder to place. The lakeside hotel has to accept the animal, and a helicopter operator has to agree to it separately, so settle both before the quote.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.

The Klagenfurt calendar: a lake with a winter side

Klagenfurt keeps two seasons that pull in opposite directions. Summer belongs to the lake, with most visitors arriving in July and August from Vienna, northern Germany and the Netherlands. Winter belongs to the mountains behind it, and the city in between lives on markets, fairs and a handful of big sporting weekends. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.

Mid-Nov to Christmas
Advent: the Christkindlmarkt on the Neuer Platz runs from mid-November to Christmas Eve, the Krampus run through the old town falls in late November, and a New Year market follows between Christmas and the last day of the year. Weekend city breaks by air, mostly small parties
December to March
Ski season: Gerlitzen, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Nassfeld and Katschberg all lie within about an hour and ten minutes of the airport by road. Ski bags and boots decide the cabin size, and the week-long trips mean aircraft arriving and leaving on the same days
March to April
Quiet: the Easter market opens on the Neuer Platz in mid-March and runs into April, and a car-free cycling day on the lake falls in late April. Easy to book, and among the calmer months for a charter
May to June
The Alpen-Adria harbour festival in mid-May, the Klagenfurt Festival from late May into June, Ironman Austria in June with its 3.8 km lake swim, the Beach Trophy and the German-language literature days in late June. Athletes arrive with bike cases, and the quiet weeks around them disappear
July and August
The lake at full strength: open-air concerts on the Ostbucht in early and mid July, the Rolls-Royce and Bentley meeting at Velden in early July, the Villach Kirchtag from late July into August and the old-town festival in early August. Rooms are scarce, and aircraft are busy at weekends
Late Aug to Sept
Kärnten läuft, the half marathon from Velden to Klagenfurt, in late August; the Wörthersee Swim and the timber fair in early September, the autumn fair in mid-September and the Wörthersee marathon at the end of the month. Sporting visitors first, then trade visitors
October
The quiet stretch. The Ursulamarkt at the fairground in late October is the one fixed event, the lake season is over, and fog begins to matter at the airport

Why a lake weekend costs more

Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Klagenfurt is reachable from most of it. What gets tight is the clock and the apron: the airport closes at half past eleven, a small airport's parking fills sooner than a big one's, and good cars and lakeside rooms go first. A booking made a fortnight before the Ironman weekend or a July Saturday can still be done, but it costs more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Vienna, Venice or Zagreb. The same booking made five or six weeks ahead is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Klagenfurt is an easy airport to arrange, and a charter can usually be put together in a day or two.

Fog, and the diversion nobody plans for

Fog is common in the Klagenfurt area in autumn and winter, and with the airport closing at 23:30 a late arrival on a foggy night has little slack. We write the alternate into the booking: Graz is about an hour and a half away by road, Ljubljana about the same to the city, Salzburg two and a half hours. The car, the handler and the hotel are lined up for the second airport before departure, not after the go-around.

Ways to bring the Klagenfurt price down

  • Move the dates by a few days where you can. The weekdays around the Ironman weekend and the week after a July concert are calmer than the weekends themselves, and the first half of December is calmer than the last;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Vienna, Venice, Zagreb or Munich needs less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of two hours that positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
  • Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved pays for the car and a night on the lake.

Types of flights

Klagenfurt produces a different mix from a capital or a pure ski resort, because it is a lake, a regional business centre and a gateway to the Carinthian mountains and to Slovenia all at once.

  • Summer weekends on the Wörthersee, where villa owners and hotel guests fly in for two or three days and the car matters more than the aircraft;
  • Winter ski trips to Gerlitzen, Bad Kleinkirchheim, Nassfeld and Katschberg, usually a week long and usually with more luggage than seats;
  • Business trips to the Carinthian capital, a city whose economy rests on electronics, printing, light industry and tourism, with a university and a fairground that hosts the timber and autumn fairs;
  • Sporting weekends: Ironman in June, the lake races and the events at the Wörthersee stadium;
  • Alpe-Adria combinations that pair Carinthia with Lake Bled, Ljubljana, Venice or the Croatian coast;
  • Evening trips to the casino and the lakeside hotels at Velden, flown out again before the airport closes.

The Friday-to-Sunday trip is worth a closer look, because it can be priced two ways and the cheaper one is not always the obvious one. If the aircraft waits at Klagenfurt for two nights, you pay for the crew and the parking. If it goes home and comes back, you pay for two empty legs. On a sector of about two hours from Britain, leaving the jet in Carinthia often gives the lower figure, and outside the peak weeks we quote both so the difference is visible.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Klagenfurt is not on the busiest corridor, so the supply comes from the rhythm of the seasons and not from sheer volume, and it helps to know what produces it.

Where Klagenfurt empty legs come from

– Lake weekends. Aircraft arrive on the Friday and leave on the Sunday, and the empty leg back to Britain on the Sunday evening is the one most often offered;

– Ski changeover days. Week-long charters bring aircraft in and send them out empty a few days later, which produces legs towards Britain, Vienna and Munich;

– Event weeks. After Ironman or a big concert weekend, aircraft that brought in guests go home empty, sometimes by way of Venice or Zagreb.

A client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Klagenfurt match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Carinthia a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip, not the middle. The old town sits at the end of a lake 16.5 km long and is small enough to cross by car. What a helicopter changes is the mountain end of the journey, where a road of an hour or more becomes a flight of a quarter of an hour.

Klagenfurt to Gerlitzen
the nearest ski area, about 30 minutes by road
about 15 minutes
Klagenfurt to Bad Kleinkirchheim
the ski village, about 50 minutes by road
about 20 minutes
Klagenfurt to Nassfeld
on the Italian border, about an hour and ten by road
about 25 minutes
A loop of the Wörthersee
Klagenfurt, Krumpendorf, Pörtschach, the Maria Wörth peninsula and Velden at the far end
about 25 minutes
Klagenfurt to Lake Bled
across the Karawanken, against an hour and ten by road
about 15 minutes

Before you plan around a helicopter

– Outside an aerodrome a helicopter may land only at an approved site under Austria's aviation law. A hotel lawn or a private villa therefore needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after;

– Mountain weather sets the timetable. Cloud in the valleys can keep a helicopter on the ground on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so every mountain transfer needs a road alternative in the same day, and the ski areas above are all between half an hour and an hour and ten from the airport by car;

– Over high ground we prefer a twin-engine machine, and in the ski season the helicopter should be booked with the jet, or you may be told there is no rotary capacity.

The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for mountain work, the wider H130 for lake and villa transfers, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Klagenfurt charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

LAKE WEEKEND · THE JET STAYED

Friday out, Sunday home, and the aircraft waited

Biggin Hill - Klagenfurt and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 05 min each way · 4 pax

Wheels up at two on a Friday afternoon, on the ground in Carinthia a little after five local time and on the lake terrace by six. The aircraft and crew stayed at Klagenfurt over the weekend, which is a real line in the quote and usually comes out lower than two empty positioning legs. The return left on Sunday in daylight, well ahead of the airport's closing time.

SKI WEEK · THE BAGS BOOKED THE CABIN

Six skiers, six ski bags and a Saturday arrival

London Luton - Klagenfurt, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 05 min · 6 pax

A week at a Carinthian ski area. The skis and boot bags, not the seats, chose the aircraft: a light jet would have carried six people and left half the equipment behind, so the quote moved up to a midsize cabin. The transfer was booked with the flight, an hour or so by road to the resort with the driver waiting beside the aircraft.

SPORT · IRONMAN WEEKEND

Two athletes, two bike cases and a coach

Farnborough - Klagenfurt, Citation Latitude, about 2 h 00 min · 3 pax

Bike cases are the largest single item on a triathlon trip, and they decided the cabin, not the headcount. The booking went in six weeks ahead because the race weekend fills the apron and the hotels together. The handler arranged the passport check at the airport and the cases went straight to the race hotel.

WINTER FOG · THE OTHER AIRPORT

A late evening, a closed basin and a car in Ljubljana

Birmingham - Klagenfurt, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min · 5 pax

Fog sat over Klagenfurt on a late November evening and the aircraft diverted to Ljubljana. Because the alternate had been written into the booking, the handler, the car and the hotel call were already arranged at Brnik, and the party reached Klagenfurt by road in under two hours. The alternative was a night in a town nobody had planned for.

ADVENT · A DOG ON BOARD

Four adults and a spaniel for a December weekend

Southampton - Klagenfurt, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 00 min · 4 pax + dog

The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, the dog was declared to customs through the red channel on landing, and a vet in Klagenfurt gave the tapeworm treatment on the Saturday morning, inside the window for the Sunday flight home. All of it was settled with the aircraft in a single exchange of messages instead of three.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST

A jet already going your way

Klagenfurt - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 00 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a lake-weekend party out and was going home empty. The client offered a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these legs work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure towards the London fields.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Klagenfurt

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Klagenfurt?

About 2 hours 5 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a Citation CJ3+, and around 2 hours from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom 300E, covering roughly 650 to 680 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 2 hours 10 to 2 hours 15, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 30. Klagenfurt is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little after ten local time.

2How much does a private jet to Klagenfurt cost?

From about £9,350 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £9,700 from Luton or Farnborough. A midsize cabin runs from £12,900 out of Birmingham to £13,400 out of Cardiff, and from Scotland allow £18,800 to £19,300. Peak lake weekends, the Ironman weekend and the Christmas market weekends price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use for Klagenfurt?

Klagenfurt Airport (KLU / LOWK) for almost every trip. It lies a few kilometres from the old town, has a 2,720 m runway and its own passport and customs assistance, and typically closes at 23:30 (22:00 on Saturdays) instead of staying open all night. Ljubljana (LJU / LJLJ) is the alternative, about an hour and a half from the city by road, worth using on a foggy night or when the trip is really to Slovenia. Graz is the Styrian option.

4When should I book a private jet to Klagenfurt?

Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the July and August lake weekends, the Ironman weekend in June and the Christmas market weekends, allow four to six weeks. Parking, cars and lakeside rooms all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another country.

5Can I reach the ski areas and the lake from Klagenfurt Airport?

Yes, and most of them are a drive, not a flight: Gerlitzen is about 30 minutes by road, Bad Kleinkirchheim about 50 minutes, Nassfeld and Katschberg just over an hour, and Villach about 35 minutes. A helicopter shortens the mountain legs when the weather allows and the landing site is approved, and Lake Bled in Slovenia is about an hour and ten minutes by road.

6Can I take my dog to Klagenfurt on a private jet?

Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Austria asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, an Animal Health Certificate in German and English issued within ten days of arrival and a declaration that the animal is not for sale. Klagenfurt is one of the airports where the animal is declared to customs through the red channel. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and five days before it re-enters Great Britain. Cats are exempt.
