Private Jet Charter to Scotland
Private Jets UK flies clients to Scotland from every airport in Britain, and because it is a domestic sector there is no border, no customs and nothing to file before departure. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. A number of our aircraft are based at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen year round, which removes the positioning leg entirely on an internal Scottish booking and shortens it on a run up from England.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Scotland depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Newcastle Airport, a Citation Mustang, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Scotland?
Scotland is a domestic sector, so the times below are the whole journey rather than the flying part of it. These are the figures from gate to gate:
79 nautical miles, and the shortest sector on this websiteabout 25 minutes
138 and 160 nautical miles down the spine of the country35 to 40 minutes
226 nautical milesabout 50 minutes
267 and 280 nautical miles, the two busiest lines we fly here1 h 05 to 1 h 15 min
326 and 363 nautical miles into the north east and the Highlands1 h 25 to 1 h 35 min
434 and 482 nautical miles, the longest domestic sectors in Britain1 h 50 to 2 h 05 min
Scotland is further than most people picture it
Kirkwall in Orkney is 442 nautical miles from Farnborough and Sumburgh in Shetland is further again, which puts the northern isles beyond Geneva and level with Milan. It is still a domestic flight with no border at either end, but the sector is long enough that the aircraft class matters in a way it does not on the run to Edinburgh. The Highlands and the northern isles are the part of Britain where a private aircraft saves the most time, simply because the alternative is a full day of driving and a ferry.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Scotland
Recent private jet charters into Scotland, listed by price rather than by distance, because the aircraft class moves the figure here more than the miles do. Being a domestic flight, there is no border to clear at either end:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Prices are in pounds rather than euros here, because Scotland is a domestic sector and the whole booking sits inside the United Kingdom. Every other country page on this site quotes in euros;
– The islands cost more than the distance suggests. Islay is closer to London than Inverness is, and dearer, because the aircraft that can use the runway is not the aircraft that would otherwise fly the sector.
Private jet flights within Scotland
Internal Scottish flying is a different business from the private jet run up from England. It is mostly islands, mostly turboprops, and mostly about a road or a ferry that would otherwise eat the day:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glasgow - Cumbernauld 17 nm / 31 km |
Airbus H125 helicopter up to 5 |
about 15 min | from 1,900 GBP |

| Glasgow - Islay 63 nm / 117 km |

| Edinburgh - Aberdeen 85 nm / 157 km |

about 35 min | from 3,400 GBP |
| Glasgow - Inverness 101 nm / 187 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 8 |
about 40 min | from 3,700 GBP |
| Glasgow - Barra 121 nm / 224 km |
Twin Otter DHC-6 up to 9 |
about 1 h | from 4,300 GBP |
| Glasgow - Stornoway 154 nm / 285 km |
Beechcraft King Air 350 up to 9 |
about 50 min | from 4,700 GBP |
| Edinburgh - Kirkwall 181 nm / 335 km |
Piaggio P180 Avanti II up to 8 |
about 50 min | from 5,400 GBP |
Two things worth knowing about the internal sectors
– Almost none of this is jet work. The island strips are short, some are unpaved and one is a beach, so the aircraft is a turboprop or nothing. That is also why Barra takes longer than Stornoway despite being nearer: the types certified for the sand are the slowest we fly;
– Weather cancels more internal Scottish legs than any other factor, and it does so at short notice. We hold a road or a ferry option behind every island booking, and the empty legs here come largely from aircraft repositioning after a cancellation.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:
- Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 4900 to 5800 GBP per flight hour;
- Business liners - from 10300 GBP per flight hour;
- Light jet - from 2100 to 3000 GBP per flight hour;
- Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 5800 to 8800 GBP per flight hour;
- Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3000 to 3700 GBP per flight hour;
- Turboprops - from 850 GBP per flight hour.
- Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 4600 to 5500 GBP per flight hour;
- Small jet, from 1700 to 2500 GBP per flight hour;

Also, we have prepared a table with the general prices of the most popular planes:

Private jets are ready to take off
Turboprops and island types
The working class of Scottish aviation. Short strips, unpaved surfaces and one tidal beach mean this is what actually flies to the isles, and nothing larger will do it.
Light jets
The volume class from England. Edinburgh and Glasgow are comfortably inside range from anywhere in Britain, and on a sector this short a light cabin is rarely the wrong answer.
Super-midsize
Where a golf party with clubs lands, and where the corporate bookings into Aberdeen settle. The baggage hold decides this more often than the seat count.
Heavy jets
For a larger party, for a corporate group that wants a table rather than a row of seats, and for the northern isles where the sector runs past four hundred nautical miles.
Ultra-long range
Uncommon domestically and seen mostly at Edinburgh, Glasgow and Prestwick as transatlantic traffic, or arriving for a major golf championship from further afield.

Business aviation airports in Scotland
Scotland has more usable airfields than the rest of Britain put together, and for a private jet the useful one is rarely the biggest. These are the fields a private jet or turboprop actually lands at:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Edinburgh EDI / EGPH |
13 km to the centre | The busiest business aviation field in Scotland, with a dedicated business terminal and a quarter of an hour into the city. Edinburgh covers the capital, the east coast links and the Borders |
| Glasgow GLA / EGPF |
13 km to the centre | The western gateway and the connecting point for the islands. Glasgow takes any aircraft flying and sits an hour from Loch Lomond |
| Aberdeen ABZ / EGPD |
11 km to the centre | The energy capital, the busiest helicopter base in Britain, and the field for Royal Aberdeen and Cruden Bay. Aberdeen also opens the Speyside distilleries at about an hour by road |
| Inverness INV / EGPE |
14 km to the centre | The Highlands, Loch Ness and the northern links. Inverness is three kilometres from Castle Stuart and under forty from Royal Dornoch |
| Dundee DND / EGPN |
19 km to St Andrews | The closest field to the Old Course by a wide margin, against ninety minutes by road from Edinburgh. Dundee takes light and midsize types |
| Prestwick PIK / EGPK |
5 km to Royal Troon | The Ayrshire coast, open around the clock and rarely fogged. Prestwick is five kilometres from Troon and twenty-six from Turnberry |
| Perth Scone PSL / EGPT |
29 km to Gleneagles | A general aviation field north of the city, and the practical arrival for Gleneagles and the Perthshire estates. Perth handles light aircraft and turboprops |
| Oban and Islay OBN and ILY |
the west coast and the whisky | Oban for Argyll and the ferries, Islay for the distilleries fifteen kilometres from the strip. Turboprops only at both |
| The northern isles KOI, LSI and SYY |
Orkney, Shetland and Lewis | Kirkwall, Sumburgh and Stornoway, the three fields that make the far north a day trip rather than an expedition |
No border, no customs, no paperwork at all
Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, so a flight from London or Manchester is a domestic sector in the full sense. There is no immigration desk, no customs declaration and no advance manifest to file, which is the only country page on this site where that sentence is true. In practice it means a Scottish booking can be made later than any other we handle: with an aircraft available and a slot free, two hours from the telephone call to wheels up is realistic, and we have done it inside ninety minutes.
Barra lands on a beach, and the timetable follows the tide
Barra in the Outer Hebrides is the only airport in the world where scheduled aircraft land on a tidal beach. The three runways are marked out on the sand at Traigh Mhor and they are under water twice a day, so the timetable moves with the tide rather than the clock and no two days run the same hours. Only a handful of types are certified for it. If you want Barra we will tell you the window before we quote the price, because on that island the sea decides the schedule and nobody negotiates with it.

Which airport for which course
More than half our Scottish bookings start with a tee time rather than a city, and the right field is almost never the one the client names first. These are the pairings behind most of our Scottish private jet bookings:
the Highland courses, where the field is almost on the fairwayInverness, 3 km
the shortest transfer to any championship links in BritainPrestwick, 5 km
against ninety minutes by road if you land at Edinburgh insteadDundee, 19 km
the Ayrshire coast, and a field that stays open when the weather closes inPrestwick, 26 km
turboprops and light aircraft only, but it puts you at the hotel in twenty minutesPerth Scone, 29 km
the one case where the obvious airport is also the right oneEdinburgh, 36 km
the far north, and worth the drive for the course at the end of itInverness, 36 km
Two courses in one day, which is the whole argument
Scotland spreads its links across three coasts that do not connect well by road. Troon in the morning and Carnoustie in the afternoon is four and a half hours of driving and a wasted day; it is thirty-five minutes in the air and both rounds fit. That is what a Scottish golf charter is actually buying, and it is why a four-ball with clubs will pay for a turboprop that a four-ball with overnight bags would not. Clubs also decide the cabin more often than the seat count does, so tell us how many bags before we quote.
Three things that shape a Scottish booking
– The twelfth of August opens the grouse season and fills the Highland strips and the estate helipads for a fortnight. Book that window in spring, not in July;
– Whisky travel splits in two. Speyside is reached from Inverness or Aberdeen by road in about an hour, while Islay has its own strip and the distilleries are fifteen kilometres from it;
– Daylight runs to eighteen hours in June and seven in December, and the smaller fields work in daylight, so a December booking to the isles is a different proposition from a June one.
Travelling to Scotland with a dog
This is the shortest section on any country page we publish, and on a private jet to Scotland that is exactly the point.
There is nothing to arrange
An animal travelling within the United Kingdom needs no health certificate, no rabies documentation, no microchip verification and no worming in either direction. Nothing is checked because there is nothing to check. Clients who have taken a dog to France or Ireland with us tend not to believe this until we say it twice.
What still applies is the aircraft rather than the paperwork. There is no hold and no weight limit, so a wolfhound travels exactly as a terrier does, and dogs ride in the cabin as a matter of course. On the island sectors the cabin is smaller and noisier than a jet, which is worth knowing for a nervous animal, and the crews carry bowls and water without being asked. Beyond that a Scottish trip with a dog needs no more preparation than a Scottish trip without one.
Types of flights
Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:
- private flights;
- corporate flights;
- business class flights;
- concert tours;
- medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
- tourist flights for large and small groups;
- sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
- combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
- exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
- cargo flights, etc.
A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Scotland). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.
A selection of empty legs that have run on the Scottish routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scotland (Edinburgh) - England (Newcastle) | Cessna Citation Mustang | 4 seats | 1,200 GBP |
| England (Leeds Bradford) - Scotland (Edinburgh) | Cessna Citation M2 | 7 seats | 1,600 GBP |
| Scotland (Edinburgh) - England (Manchester) | Cessna Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | 1,800 GBP |
| England (Birmingham) - Scotland (Glasgow) | Embraer Phenom 300E | 8 seats | 2,200 GBP |
| Scotland (Glasgow) - England (Bristol) | Bombardier Learjet 75 Liberty | 8 seats | 2,600 GBP |
| Scotland (Edinburgh) - England (London Luton) | Cessna Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | 3,000 GBP |
| England (London Biggin Hill) - Scotland (Aberdeen) | Embraer Praetor 600 | 9 seats | 3,700 GBP |
| Scotland (Islay) - England (London Luton) | Bombardier Challenger 350 | 9 seats | 4,300 GBP |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Citation XLS+ south from Edinburgh at 3,000 GBP carrying nine works out at about three hundred and thirty a head;
– Set each line beside the same class in the tables above. That same XLS+ against 7,200 GBP for a fresh charter out of Luton is the saving in plain terms;
– Scottish legs cluster on Sunday evenings and Monday mornings, because so much of the traffic is a weekend in the country or a week of golf. A client who can shift a day sees far more of them.

Jet Sharing
Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.
We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.
Main advantages of this service:
- All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
- You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
- No baggage restrictions;
- Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
- Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.
Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter
Scotland uses the helicopter more heavily than anywhere else in Britain, and for two entirely separate reasons: the sporting estates in the season, and the North Sea platforms all year:
straight onto the estate or the practice ground, with no road transfer at either endabout 20 minutes
lodges and shooting country where the road runs out well before the house does20 to 30 minutes
the sporting lodges, and the leg that fills solid from the twelfth of Augustabout 30 minutes
distillery visits without waiting on the ferry timetableabout 40 minutes
the North Sea platforms, which is a different trade entirely and runs on its own aircraft45 minutes and up
The machines that work these routes
– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind estate and golf transfers, and precise into a lawn or a hillside clearing;
– Airbus H145 and similar twins, which Scottish operators fly far more than their southern counterparts because so much of the work crosses water;
– Airbus H130 for a party of six on the longer Highland legs, where cabin noise starts to matter after half an hour.
Two points on Scottish rotary legs
– Estate landing sites are plentiful and the owners are used to them, but the shooting season fills the good ones months ahead and the twelfth of August is the hardest date of the year;
– Low cloud on the hills stops rotary work on days when the jets run normally, so a Highland transfer always has a car standing behind it.

Flight payment options

Our consultants will offer you a wide variety of flights to meet your needs and budget. Most customers prefer a non-cash method (a transfer to an EU bank account), which guarantees a high level of confidentiality and security of payment. All payment details are provided in advance, so you’ll have enough time to make the necessary checks. For years of working in business aviation, our company has gained an impeccable reputation. We practice transparency and are always ready to present all necessary documents.
Private Jet UK works with both physical and legal entities. We guarantee the confidentiality and security of payments. You can pay for the flights from Scotland in any convenient way:
- cashless (by transfer to our account);

In addition, we conclude formal agreements and provide our clients with all necessary documents and invoices, which guarantees the safe payment and delivery of services. If you have any financial questions, feel free to contact our private aviation consultants.
If you need to book an urgent flight, please keep in mind that the bank transfer can take a few days. In such situations, we may need to involve our partner companies so that you can pay for your flight in cash. If you have any questions, you can contact your personal consultant 24/7.

What our clients say about flying to Scotland
A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.
GOLF
“Our fourth annual trip, smooth again”
Luton to Dundee · Citation XLS+ · The Fairbairn four-ball
“This is our fourth annual golf trip booked through them. Transport, courses, timings: everything ran smoothly yet again, and at prices more competitive than the well-known golf operators we used in the past. Already looking forward to next year.”
TWO COURSES
“The maths of the day changes completely”
Prestwick to Dundee · King Air 250 · Robert H.
“A morning round at Troon and an afternoon round at Carnoustie. What is physically impossible by car, the aircraft made a reality: thirty-five minutes across the country instead of four and a half hours at the wheel. For a serious golfing trip it changes the maths of the day completely.”
NO PAPERWORK
“I asked what the dog needed and they said nothing”
Farnborough to Inverness · Phenom 300E · Isobel and Hamish
“I asked what paperwork the dog needed and the answer was none: it is a domestic flight, and both Farnborough and Inverness handle animals in the cabin. After all the stories about cargo holds on the airlines, it felt almost strange to simply walk him on board. He spent the whole flight on his own blanket.”
THE TWELFTH
“Booked in March, and rightly so”
Biggin Hill to Aberdeen · Praetor 600 · Charles W.
“I booked in March for the week of the Glorious Twelfth, and rightly so: what seemed a straightforward request soon became complex, and finding an aircraft for those dates was a job in itself. They found one, were honest about seasonal pricing, and the guns were handled entirely by the book. Plan ahead if you are going to the moors.”
THE ISLES
“A splash on take-off, and I loved it”
Glasgow to Barra · Twin Otter · Marianne T.
“They explained in advance that the runway on Barra is a beach that disappears under the sea twice a day, so the tide sets the departure time, not the timetable. The approach over the islands is the stuff of postcards, and touching down on sand was softer than tarmac. On the way out we went through a couple of inches of water with a proper splash. The locals come out to watch the landings, and I understand why.”
EMPTY LEG
“Four of us for the price of the train”
Edinburgh to Luton · Citation XLS+ · Douglas F.
“The four of us came home on an empty leg and the money worked out around the level of four first-class rail tickets, except instead of five hours in a carriage it was an hour and ten in the air. With flexible dates an empty leg turns private flying from a luxury into rather sensible arithmetic.”
Frequently asked questions about flying to Scotland
1How long does it take to fly to Scotland by private jet?
About an hour and ten minutes from London to Edinburgh or Glasgow, and an hour and a half to Aberdeen or Inverness. From Manchester or Leeds it is closer to forty minutes, and Newcastle to Edinburgh is under half an hour. The northern isles run to two hours from London.
2How much does a private jet to Scotland cost?
From about 2,900 GBP one way from Newcastle to Edinburgh on a very light jet, and 3,900 GBP from Leeds. London to Edinburgh starts around 7,200 GBP on a super-midsize cabin, Aberdeen around 8,900 GBP and Islay around 10,400 GBP. Internal Scottish sectors start at about 1,900 GBP.
3Do I need a passport to fly to Scotland?
No. Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, so a flight from England, Wales or Northern Ireland is domestic. There is no immigration control, no customs declaration and nothing to file in advance, which is why a Scottish booking can be made at shorter notice than any other on this site.
4Which airport is closest to St Andrews?
Dundee, at nineteen kilometres, against roughly ninety minutes by road from Edinburgh. It takes light and midsize aircraft, so a larger party sometimes lands at Edinburgh and takes a helicopter across, which runs to about twenty minutes.
5Can a private aircraft reach the Scottish islands?
Yes, but not on a jet. Islay, Barra, Tiree, Benbecula and the smaller strips take turboprops only, and Barra is a tidal beach where the timetable follows the sea rather than the clock. Stornoway, Kirkwall and Sumburgh have full runways and take jets without difficulty.
