Private jet charter in Kristiansand

Southern Norway has just one airport with scheduled flights, and a light jet from London reaches it in about an hour and a half. Beyond the runway lies the coast Norwegians call Sørlandet: white wooden towns, thousands of islands, long sandy beaches, Norway's largest zoo with more than 900,000 visitors a year and, behind the harbour, a valley road that climbs north to the ski slopes of Setesdal. Private Jets UK plans the charter from the British departure field to the car waiting at the aircraft door. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik, is easy to use for a private jet: a 2,035 m runway, customs listed as available on request and a quiet apron. The evening is what needs a plan, because the tower is listed as closing before midnight, and a dog on board has to enter Norway at Oslo first.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Kristiansand depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Kristiansand?

Plan on about an hour and a half from the London fields, and put your watch forward an hour on landing, because Norway keeps Central European time. The British airfields in the table lie between 348 and 590 nautical miles from Kjevik, which makes Kristiansand a light-jet or midsize sector from every part of Britain, and from Aberdeen the crossing takes little more than an hour. The aircraft in each row is the one we would usually put forward from that field.

Ten o'clock in the centre

Kjevik is 16 km from the middle of town by road, and that is the whole of the ground journey. Take off from London City at seven and the aircraft is parked on the Norwegian apron by twenty-five to ten local time, with the car already waiting. Someone who set off from central London at half past five is at a desk in Kristiansand by ten, or walking the Posebyen streets with the morning still in front of them. Add the drive out to the British airfield and the brief formalities at both ends, and the whole journey from central London to central Kristiansand lasts about three and a half hours.

Which cabin: light, midsize or large

– Five people with normal bags sit happily in a light jet, and the saving is plain in the price table: a CJ3+ from London City starts at £7,600, while a Citation XLS+ from the same field starts at about £9,500;

– Golf bags, sailing kit, a pushchair or the skis for Hovden fill a light-jet hold faster than anyone expects. If the luggage list is long, we put a midsize quote next to the light one and let the figures decide;

– A large cabin suits ten passengers or more, a board that wants to hold its meeting at altitude, or a Scandinavian tour on which one aircraft stays with the party from Kjevik to Denmark or Sweden and home again.

Prices for the private jet flights to Kristiansand

Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Kjevik. London City is 507 nautical miles from Kjevik, and the fare tracks the distance closely. Three stretches of the summer can push a quote above these figures: the Palmesus beach weekend in late June, the July holiday weeks and the political week in Arendal in mid-August. The calendar block further down explains each one.

Private jet flights from Kristiansand

Kjevik is a good base for a loop around the Skagerrak. Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo are turboprop hops of under an hour, Aalborg in northern Denmark is about 40 min away, and Billund, Copenhagen and Gothenburg fit inside a morning. Across the North Sea, Aberdeen and Amsterdam are short jet sectors. Typical one-way prices:

Denmark by sea or by air

Color Line's SuperSpeed ferry takes about 3 h 15 min to Hirtshals, with several departures a day, which suits a family with a car rather than a diary with meetings in it. By air the same crossing is a different thing: Aalborg is 91 nautical miles from Kjevik and Billund 158, both inside an hour in a Pilatus PC-12, so the crew that brought you from Britain can carry on to Legoland or the Danish north the same day. Norway and Denmark are both in Schengen, so there is no passport check on this leg. On the shortest sectors the price stops falling, because the operator's minimum charge applies, which is why several hops in the table cost the same.

Reading an onward quote in Norway

– Match the strip to the aircraft. Kjevik, Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo all take a jet, whereas Lista, which appears on maps of the south coast near Farsund, is a general aviation field limited to daytime visual flights and nine passengers;

– Book the legs together. Kristiansand, Stavanger and Oslo in one routing cost less than three separate quotes, because the aircraft and crew remain with the party between stops;

– With an animal aboard, start in Oslo. A dog or cat coming from Britain has to be presented at Gardermoen, so a journey that ends in Kristiansand begins with a landing in the capital.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h
Medium-sized jet (Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP)£3,000 - 3,700/h
Large medium-class jet (Challenger 300)£4,600 - 5,500/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Kristiansand:

Light jets, for the North Sea crossing

The crossing from London takes about an hour and a half, which a light cabin handles without strain. Four or five people with ordinary luggage travel comfortably, and for a day of meetings in the city or an afternoon on the beach nothing bigger is needed.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for golf, sailing and winter kit

Clubs, sailing bags and a week of ski gear are what overflow a light-jet hold, and a midsize cabin also gives a family or a team room to spread out on the way.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

For ten passengers or more, for a board that wants a boardroom at altitude, and for tours that continue from Kjevik to Denmark or Sweden in the same aircraft.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h
Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The aircraft for the short hops. Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo and the Danish coast are each an hour or less away, and a turboprop copes with the shorter runways of the smaller Norwegian airfields.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. Kristiansand is not a charter hub, so the aircraft that suits a booking is often one already in Oslo, Stavanger or Denmark, and where it starts the day decides the price more than the size of the cabin does. A client with flexible dates sees the better figure.

Business aviation airports in Kristiansand

One airport does nearly all the work. The rest of the list is a fallback on the west coast, an Oslo stop that pets make necessary, and a small field that is easy to mistake for an alternative.

Airport What it gives you
Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik
KRS / ENCN
The airport for every jet trip. It lies about 16 km from the city by road and 8 km in a straight line, on the north-eastern side of Kristiansand. One runway, 03/21, measures 2,035 by 45 metres and has a category I instrument approach from both directions, which suits light and midsize jets, and for a large-cabin type we check the performance figures for the day (some sources round the length differently, so we confirm the usable figure for the aircraft). Avinor runs the field, scheduled flights by SAS, Norwegian, Widerøe, KLM and Wizz Air share it, about 820,000 passengers use it in a year, and the Royal Norwegian Air Force keeps a training centre on the site
Stavanger, Sola
SVG / ENZV
The fallback in the west, 90 nautical miles away. The main runway is listed at 2,556 m, customs are on site and there is a general aviation terminal, but Sola is a coordinated airport with noise rules, so it works as a planned alternative and not as a last-minute one. It is also the logical choice when the trip is really a tour of Rogaland
Oslo Gardermoen
OSL / ENGM
Not a substitute for Kjevik but a stop that animals force. Norway admits dogs and cats from countries outside the EU and the EEA, Britain among them, only through Oslo Gardermoen or the Storskog border crossing at Kirkenes. From Gardermoen the hop to Kjevik is 157 nautical miles, 55 minutes in a PC-12 and 45 in a CJ3+
Lista, Farsund
ENLI
A civil, non-public field on the Lista peninsula, about 12 km from Farsund. It is limited to general aviation, with daytime visual flights only, a maximum take-off weight of 5,700 kg and nine passengers, so it will not take a charter jet. We mention it because it shows up on maps of the south coast and is sometimes suggested as a closer landing for Lindesnes

Four things are worth settling before a Kristiansand arrival:

Who looks after the aircraft

Handling at Kjevik is arranged through an agent, and the airport's own pages do not point to a dedicated private-jet terminal. One aviation directory lists Access Oslo Executive Handling at the field, although that company's own site names other airports, and Location Flight Services lists ground handling for Kjevik with a 24-hour operations desk. We confirm which agent is on your booking and give you the name in writing, so that the driver and the crew wait at the same door.

Hours, customs and slots

The tower is listed as open from about 06:10 to 23:15 local time, with Saturday closing about an hour earlier, and the airport office keeps weekday office hours only. Customs and immigration have no fixed hours: the official list says they are available on request, with air traffic services told an hour before arrival, and one directory asks for 90 minutes. Sources disagree on slots, so for an arrival after dark or at a weekend we ask for the position in writing.

Border and passport

Norway is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passport control comes on arrival, normally in the handler's terminal. British passport holders need no visa for a short visit, with a passport issued less than ten years before entry and valid for three months beyond departure. Norway is not in the EU, so customs apply as well: goods up to NOK 6,000 (about £450) after more than 24 hours abroad are duty-free, and cash above NOK 25,000 (about £1,900) must be declared.

The car and the coast road

Avis, Budget, Hertz, Sixt, Europcar and Enterprise all have desks at the terminal, and a bus stops outside, but a private party usually wants a driver. The coast runs both ways from the city: Lillesand, Grimstad and Arendal east along the E18, Mandal to the west on the E39. A car here is a day plan more than a transfer, so give the driver the handler's name as well as the flight number.

business aviation

Customs, passports and the way back

The first landing in Norway is where the border is crossed, and any later hop to Stavanger or Oslo is a domestic flight with no passport check. Customs are a separate matter. Norway is outside the EU, so even a flight that starts in Denmark or Sweden ends with a customs check, the allowances for food, alcohol and tobacco apply to every traveller, and the value and cash limits are counted person by person, which matters to a group arriving with sailing gear, golf equipment or boxes of samples. The return follows British rules: the operator files the General Aviation Report with the border authorities between 48 hours and two hours before departure, British and Irish citizens do not need an electronic travel authorisation, and a passenger of any other nationality should check whether one is required.

From the apron to Posebyen

Christian IV laid the town out on a strict grid of 56 squares, and the grid survives as Kvadraturen. At its heart is Posebyen, the old wooden quarter, which is said to hold the longest continuous run of wooden buildings in northern Europe. The neo-Gothic cathedral with its 70-metre tower stands on the same grid, and the Fiskebrygga fish quay, the Christiansholm fortress and the city beach at Bystranda all sit in or beside it. Across the harbour, Odderøya, a former fortress and quarantine station, is now a recreation area with Kilden, the performing arts centre, and the Kunstsilo, a converted grain silo with Nordic modernist art. Everything beyond that is a drive, a boat trip or a short flight away.

Kjevik to the centre
the whole of the ground journey from the aircraft; 8 km in a straight line
about 16 km by road
Hamresanden
three kilometres of fine, shallow sand on the Topdalsfjord, close to the airport
about 10 km from the centre
Lillesand
white wooden houses and the start of the Blindleia island channel, east along the coast
20 to 30 minutes by road
Lindesnes lighthouse
the southern tip of mainland Norway, with a museum built into the rock, west past Mandal
about 90 minutes by car
Oslo by road, and by air
about 4 hours on the E18; 157 nm by Pilatus PC-12
about 55 minutes in the air

Flying to Kristiansand with a dog or a cat

Norway applies pet rules of its own, apart from the EU's, and one of them fixes the route: a dog or cat coming from Britain has to be presented at Oslo. The animal stays in the cabin with its owners, never in a hold, and the domestic leg from Oslo to Kjevik takes under an hour, which most dogs sleep through.

private flight with animals

What Norway asks for:

  • An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
  • A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, valid from 21 days after the primary vaccination is completed;
  • A health certificate from an official veterinarian, following the EU model for animals from third countries, for each trip;
  • For dogs, a tapeworm treatment with praziquantel or an equivalent product, given by a vet 24 to 120 hours before entering Norway and recorded in the certificate. Cats and ferrets are exempt;
  • A rabies antibody blood test, unless the country of departure is treated as a listed country; the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Mattilsynet, confirms the position for your dates and we put it in writing;
  • Notice to Mattilsynet at least 48 hours before arrival, and entry through Oslo Airport Gardermoen or Storskog, with no other crossing allowed;
  • No more than five animals on a non-commercial trip.

Where owners go wrong on the Kristiansand run

– Oslo goes first. An animal from Britain cannot enter at Kjevik, so the aircraft puts down at Gardermoen for the animal and its papers to be checked, then flies the 157 nautical miles to Kristiansand as a domestic sector. That extra landing has to be in the quote from the beginning;

– One worming dose, not two. Norway asks for it before entry, so the dog visits a vet at home before leaving, timed back from the Oslo landing, while a direct flight to Britain needs none unless the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one;

– Every operator decides for itself. The boat through Blindleia, the ferry to Bragdøya and a helicopter tour each need the consent of the company running them, so ask about the animal before the quote is signed.

The rules for cats, ferrets, birds and rarer pets are gathered in our flying with pets guide. Coming home on a direct flight from Norway, a dog needs no tapeworm dose; it is needed only if the dog has been elsewhere or the routing includes another country. As always, we confirm the entry point, the routing and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

The Kristiansand calendar: beach weekends, political week and a long summer

The year here follows the sun. The weather station at Kjevik records about 1,780 hours of sunshine and about 1,380 mm of rain a year, with a daily high that averages 11.5 degrees over the twelve months, so the leisure peak is summer and the coast is at its busiest when the water is warm. The business diary is smaller and steadier, built around a few fixed weeks.

Mid-June
The Norwegian Short Film Festival runs in Grimstad for about two weeks, with a competition of Norwegian and international shorts, documentaries and music videos and a strong industry presence. Grimstad lies on the E18 east of Kristiansand, so Kjevik is the natural arrival
Late June
Palmesus, a two-day beach party on Bystranda with beach clubs on the sand and about 60,000 visitors, calls itself the biggest beach party in Scandinavia. A short-stay weekend crowd, and the centre's hotels and cars fill early
July
The long light evenings and the warm water explain the demand. The zoo and amusement park are in full swing, the beaches at Hamresanden and Sjøsanden are busy, and the boat from Lillesand to Kristiansand through Blindleia, a trip of about three hours with room for 99 passengers, needs booking ahead
Mid-August
Arendalsuka, a five-day democracy festival with politicians, organisations and businesses, draws about 200,000 visitors and more than 2,200 programme items to Arendal. Kjevik is the nearest airport with scheduled service. This is the week when a jet seat, a car and a hotel room in the region are hardest to find
September to October
The season winds down and the beaches empty. The zoo stays open every day of the year, Kilden's concerts and theatre carry on, and the city is easy to fly into, with cars and rooms available at short notice
November to March
Short days on the coast, but Dyreparken never closes and the outdoor pools at Aquarama beside the city beach are kept at 38 degrees all year. For skiers, the Setesdal road runs 238 km north from Kristiansand to Haukeli, past Hovden, the valley's ski centre

Why a summer weekend costs more

The flying itself costs the same. What changes is everything around it: a single runway, and a limited stock of good cars and rooms, all meet in the same few days, and the aircraft often has to come from Oslo or Denmark. A request made a fortnight before Palmesus or Arendalsuka can still be filled, though it costs more and the choice of aircraft is narrower. Fix the dates early and the same trip is simpler and cheaper. Away from the peak weekends a charter into Kristiansand can usually be arranged within a day or two, if the weather allows.

Ways to bring the Kristiansand price down

  • Move the flight to a weekday or to the edge of the season. Tuesday to Thursday, and the weeks on either side of July, cost less than the Friday and Sunday legs of a summer weekend;
  • Ask where the aircraft sleeps. A jet based in Oslo, Stavanger or Denmark needs only a short positioning flight, while one starting in the south of England carries the whole North Sea in the bill;
  • Take the light jet unless the luggage argues otherwise. Four people with four bags do not need a midsize cabin, and the difference pays for a car for the coast and a table at Fiskebrygga.

Types of flights

Kristiansand produces a different mix from the oil cities up the coast, because it is a leisure coast with an industrial base behind it, and a good part of the demand is for a weekend and not a meeting.

  • Regional business, with the nickel refinery in the city and the companies of Agder receiving visitors who want to fly in and out on the same day;
  • Family trips built around Dyreparken, its Cardamom Town and Captain Sabertooth areas and the beach at Hamresanden;
  • Archipelago weekends, with the boat through Blindleia, the island of Bragdøya and a helicopter hour over the coast;
  • Winter weeks in Setesdal, flying into Kjevik and driving north on the Rv9 to Hovden;
  • The political week in Arendal in August and the film festival in Grimstad in June;
  • Onward flights to Stavanger, Oslo or Denmark, so that one aircraft covers a short circuit of the Skagerrak.

A day return is realistic. Take off at seven, park at Kjevik at twenty-five to ten local time, and leave again at six in the evening: that is about eight hours on the ground, with London reached at around twenty-five to seven British time. The crew stays with the aircraft and its waiting time is billed, but the total is normally lower than two separate one-way charters, and we quote both versions so the choice is yours.

A jet that has delivered its passengers often has to fly home empty, and the operator would rather sell that sector at a low price than burn fuel for nothing. That is an empty leg. Kristiansand sees them in a seasonal pattern, and the pattern is worth knowing.

Where Kristiansand empty legs come from

– The political week. Aircraft bring guests to the south coast for Arendalsuka and leave empty afterwards, and the legs back towards Oslo, Denmark and the London fields at the end of the week are the ones most often offered;

– Summer weekends. An aircraft that brings a party to the beaches and the islands on a Friday often repositions on the Saturday, and its return sector is offered for the Sunday;

– Skagerrak rotation. Aircraft moving between Denmark, Gothenburg and the Norwegian south coast leave short legs open, and those short hops can be cheap.

Set against the main London routes the south coast is a small market, so a client who can offer a few days has a far better chance than one who needs a single evening. The usual bargain applies: the operator sets the date and the hour, and a leg can disappear if the booking behind it moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Kristiansand match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Kristiansand a helicopter is a way to see the coast, not to cross the city. The scheduled sightseeing offer is a single route, a flight of about 30 minutes over the city, Lillesand, the island fringe and Dyreparken, flown with an AS350 or a Robinson R44. For a private party a charter is arranged around the same ground, and the advantage is time: the stretch from Kjevik to Lillesand and the outer islands is a short flight and a long drive.

City, Lillesand and the coastline
the standard tour over the town, the shoreline, Lillesand and the zoo; a gift voucher covers a seat for a single passenger
about 30 minutes
The aircraft
an AS350 with five passenger seats or a Robinson R44 with three; the fixed-date tour needs three or five passengers
3 to 5 seats
Booking
for the standard tour a deposit of 10 percent confirms the date, and the balance is paid on the day of the flight
deposit, then balance

Before you plan around a helicopter

– The tour aircraft are small. With three or five seats, a group of six or more needs two machines or a bigger type, and in July the helicopter should be booked at the same time as the jet;

– Weather rules the coast. Low cloud and wind on the Skagerrak can ground a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so keep a road or boat plan for the same afternoon;

– Flying over a place is not the same as landing there. Putting a helicopter down away from an airfield depends on permission, so the operator agrees the site before the quote is issued, and the same goes for any animal on board.

For a private party on this coast we normally suggest the single-engine Airbus H125, the roomier H130 for lodge and island transfers, and the H135 or Bell 429 when a twin-engine machine is preferred, with a larger type for big groups. They are booked together with the jet so that both crews follow one timetable.

Kristiansand charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the south coast looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK

Meetings in the centre and home for the evening

Biggin Hill - Kristiansand and return, Citation CJ3+, 1 h 35 min each way · 4 pax

Four colleagues flew out of Biggin Hill at seven, touched down at Kjevik shortly before ten and were round a table in the centre by half past. The aircraft stayed on the apron all day, a cost that appears as its own line in the quote and still leaves the price below two separate one-way charters. They left at six in the evening and were home before seven British time.

ARENDALSUKA · BOOKED EARLY

Five people for the political week

London Luton - Kristiansand, Phenom 300E, 1 h 25 min · 5 pax

The festival, not the client, fixed the dates, so the booking went in the moment they were published. That kept both the aircraft and a car free in the one week of summer when the region is hardest to supply, and after landing the party drove east along the E18 to Arendal. Left until ten days before, the same trip would have cost more.

FAMILY · ZOO AND BEACH

Three generations and a long weekend

Farnborough - Kristiansand, Phenom 300E, 1 h 35 min · 6 pax

Two grandparents, two parents and two children, with pushchair, scooters and a week of beach luggage that a CJ3+ could not have held. They went to Dyreparken on the first morning, spent the afternoon on the sand at Hamresanden and kept the Bragdøya ferry for the last day. The car was booked with the aircraft and waited at the apron.

SOUTH COAST · THE HELICOPTER AFTERNOON

Four friends and the coast from the air

London City - Kristiansand, Citation CJ3+, 1 h 35 min · 4 pax

They set aside one afternoon for the helicopter and booked it with the jet. The 30-minute flight took in the city, Lillesand and the islands, and a boat plan through Blindleia stayed in reserve for the case of low cloud. It held, and they were back at the hotel for dinner.

A DOG ON BOARD · OSLO FIRST

Three adults and a retriever for a week

Biggin Hill - Oslo - Kristiansand, Phenom 300E · 3 pax + dog

Kristiansand could not take the dog as a point of entry, so the aircraft went to Gardermoen first for the animal inspection and then on to Kjevik. The worming dose was given inside the 24 to 120 hour window before entry, and the direct flight home from Norway needed no repeat. The holiday house welcomed the dog, and the entire arrangement was settled in a single exchange of messages.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING HOME

A jet already going your way

Kristiansand - Manchester, Phenom 300E empty leg · 3 pax

A jet that had delivered a weekend party to the coast was due to return with empty seats. Our client offered a three-day window in place of a fixed date, which is what lets these legs work, and paid far less than a new one-way charter would have cost for an evening departure towards the north of England.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Kristiansand

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Kristiansand?

A light jet needs roughly 1 h 35 min from London City or Biggin Hill, and a Phenom 1 h 25 min to 1 h 35 min from Luton or Farnborough, over 497 to 537 nautical miles. Manchester takes about 1 h 25 min, Edinburgh about 1 h 20 min and Aberdeen about 1 h 10 min. Local time in Kristiansand is one hour ahead of Britain, so a departure at seven in the morning lands shortly before ten.

2How much does a private jet to Kristiansand cost?

A one-way light-jet flight starts at £7,600 from London City and £7,750 from Biggin Hill. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough costs £7,550 to £8,050, a midsize cabin from Bristol £10,450, and a light jet from Aberdeen begins at £5,750, from Edinburgh at £6,500. The Palmesus weekend, the July holiday weeks and the week of Arendalsuka in mid-August can lift the price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use for Kristiansand?

Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik (KRS / ENCN) for every jet trip. It is about 16 km from the centre by road and has a single runway, 03/21, of 2,035 by 45 metres with a category I approach from both directions. Customs and immigration are available on request, with air traffic services told an hour before arrival, and the tower is listed as closing before midnight. Stavanger Sola is the fallback in the west.

4When should I book a private jet to Kristiansand?

Away from the peaks, a day or two of notice is normally enough. For Palmesus in late June, the July holiday weeks and Arendalsuka in mid-August, book as soon as the dates are settled. Hotels, cars and aircraft run short in the same days, and a late request usually pays extra for a jet brought in from Oslo or Denmark.

5Can I fly on from Kristiansand to Lindesnes, Arendal or Denmark?

Lindesnes lighthouse, Arendal and Setesdal are road trips from Kjevik, with the lighthouse about 90 minutes by car. Denmark is better by air: Aalborg is 91 nautical miles and Billund 158, about 40 and 55 minutes respectively in a Pilatus PC-12, against a ferry to Hirtshals that takes about 3 h 15 min. Norway and Denmark are both in Schengen, so there is no passport check on that leg.

6Can I take my dog to Kristiansand on a private jet?

Yes, with Oslo as the first stop. The dog flies in the cabin beside you. Norway wants a microchip placed before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old, a health certificate, notice to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority at least 48 hours ahead and a vet's tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before entry. Animals from Britain can enter only at Oslo Gardermoen or Storskog. A dog flying directly home from Norway to Britain needs no tapeworm treatment, unless it has been in another country or the routing includes one; cats are exempt.
