Private jet charter in Doha

Seven hours is how long a jet needs to carry a party from London to the Gulf, and that changes the way the whole charter is built. The aircraft is chosen for range before it is chosen for comfort, the permits start days ahead, and the first real question is the one clients rarely expect: Doha has two airports, and they are not interchangeable. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of the two suits the passengers and the aircraft. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Hamad International is the main door into Qatar, with its own premium terminal, round-the-clock operation and a runway of about 4,850 m. What is left to decide is the cabin that will fly 3,000 nautical miles without stopping, the date, and what the passengers do once they are on the ground in a desert city where the weather is part of the plan.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Doha depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Doha?

Seven hours from Biggin Hill, about seven and a quarter from the Midlands and the north, and seven and a half from Glasgow. The distance runs from 2,923 to 3,150 nautical miles depending on the British field, measured with an allowance for the routing, and that is more than any light or midsize jet will normally fly in one go. Doha keeps Gulf time, three hours ahead of Greenwich with no summer clock change, so the gap to Britain is three hours in winter and two in summer. The table gives the sector from each British field we use, flown nonstop in an Embraer Praetor 600.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Take off from Biggin Hill at nine in the morning and you touch down at Hamad in the early evening, Doha time. The airport lies about 10 km east of the city and the drive to central Doha takes roughly 20 minutes, with immigration and customs dealt with privately in the premium terminal, so a party can be at its hotel for a late dinner. Going home the clock works in your favour: a departure from Doha at ten in the morning lands in Britain in the early afternoon, whereas an evening departure arrives in the small hours, and most clients choose the morning.

Routes, permits and conditions: what we check before every quote

A flight from Britain to Qatar crosses the airspace of several countries, and the operator chooses the corridor. That choice depends on overflight permissions, on the weather and on conditions in the region that can change the preferred routing, the fuel plan and the insurance terms at short notice. Landing permission for Qatar is issued by the country's civil aviation authority and needs the operator's certificate, insurance, noise and aircraft papers and the crew details, so the lead time is typically days rather than hours. For those reasons we treat a Doha quote as conditional until the operator has confirmed the route, the permits and the arrival arrangements in writing. We also suggest reading the FCDO travel advice for Qatar before you commit, and telling your own insurer where you are going. If anything shifts between booking and departure, the cancellation and rerouting terms in the offer matter more than the headline price.

Which cabin for a seven-hour sector

– A super-midsize jet is the practical floor from Britain. The Embraer Praetor 600 has a published range of about 3,900 nautical miles, which covers every sector in the table with a reserve. The Bombardier Challenger 350 is published at about 3,200 and sits close to the edge on the longer sectors with a full cabin, so we quote it for lighter loads or with a stop;

– Light jets and most midsize jets do not make the distance without a fuel stop, and a stop adds roughly an hour, a second set of fees and a second set of permits. The saving on the hourly rate largely disappears, which is why this page prices the nonstop option;

– Past eight passengers, or when the party wants to sleep and work in the air, we quote a large-cabin or long-range jet next to the Praetor. Gulfstream G450, Global 6000 and the G650 family are the ones that tend to appear on this run, and the extra money buys a proper bed on the way back.

The spread between the south of England and Scotland is smaller than the map suggests, because on a seven-hour sector the flying itself dominates the bill. A Praetor 600 out of Biggin Hill is £46,550; the same aircraft out of Glasgow is £50,000, a difference of about £3,450. A large-cabin or long-range jet moves the whole table up, and a round trip with the aircraft waiting in Doha is priced differently from two single legs. We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Gulf hops: short on the map, longer on paper

Bahrain is 83 nautical miles away and Dubai 212, which is about an hour in the air or less for either. The flying is the easy part. Each neighbouring state issues its own landing permission, and the process typically takes days, so a Gulf leg that looks like a quick hop on the map needs notice on paper. Do not accept a quote that names an airport without the handler and the permit status attached. Riyadh, at 278 nautical miles, and Muscat, at 394, are the longer of the regional legs, and a midsize cabin is the sensible minimum for both.

Before you accept an onward quote from Qatar

– Which Doha airport the quote is from. Hamad and Doha International are different fields with different terminals, and a driver told only Doha may wait at the wrong one. We put the airport and the handler in the offer, never just the city;

– Which day and which season. Prices and permit lead times tighten around the major events, and a busy week leaves less room for a late change. We ask for the permit status in writing before pricing an onward leg that falls on a peak date;

– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Doha to Dubai to Muscat and back over a long weekend costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning between each stop.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. The Gulf has its own long-range fleet, and Doha is the home of a large operator of Gulfstreams, so for a booking outside the busiest weeks there is sometimes an aircraft already in the region, in Doha, Dubai or Riyadh, and that is occasionally where the better price comes from. For the flight out from Britain, though, the aircraft usually comes from a European base, and the positioning is part of the quote.

Business aviation airports in Doha

Two airports matter and a third group is there for context. It helps to know which is which before a quote arrives with the wrong one in it.

Airport What it gives you
Hamad International
DOH / OTHH
The main airport and the answer for most trips. About 10 km east of the city, open round the clock, with a runway of about 4,850 m and customs on the field. Business aviation has the Qatar Executive Premium Terminal, which offers private check-in, lounges and private immigration and customs. Slots are listed as required, which matters more at the commercial banks of the day, and we apply for them with the permit
Doha International
DIA / OTBD
The older airport, about 7 km south-east of the city and about 5 km from Hamad. It has a runway of about 4,570 m and is listed as a joint civil and military field open round the clock, with slots and handling both mandatory. Handlers describe it as the field for executive, government and special-event flights, and some guides place a Qatar Executive FBO there. A broker listing says the site is earmarked for redevelopment, so we never assume it is available and confirm the field, the terminal and the handler in writing for each flight
Bahrain International
BAH / OBBI
Not a Doha airport but the nearest neighbour, 83 nautical miles away across the water, with customs on the field. It matters for clients who combine the two countries or who need an alternative while a permit is being sorted, not as a substitute for Doha itself
Dubai and Riyadh
DXB / OMDB, RUH / OERK
The two big Gulf neighbours, at 212 and 278 nautical miles. Both are common onward destinations from Doha, each with its own landing permission and handling arrangements

Four points settle most Doha arrivals:

Choose the airport and the terminal

For most private jets the answer is Hamad, and the Qatar Executive Premium Terminal is where the formalities are done privately. Doha International is a different place with a different gate and a different list of handlers. Tell us which one your car and your guests are expecting, and we name the handler in the offer.

Hours, slots and permits

Both airports are listed as open round the clock, so a late departure is possible. Slots are required at both, and Doha International also requires handling. The landing permit comes from Qatar's civil aviation authority and typically takes days, not hours, so a short-notice trip is a matter of asking early rather than hoping.

Border and passport

British holders of a full British Citizen passport can get a tourist visa on arrival, valid for 30 days. The passport should have at least six months left from the day you arrive. Vapes and e-cigarettes are illegal to bring in, and cash or valuables worth more than 50,000 Qatari riyals, about £10,000, must be declared.

Car and the road

Hamad is about 10 km from central Doha and the drive takes around 20 minutes. The premium terminal moves guests to the car privately, so give us the hotel's drop-off point as well as the airport, and we arrange the car and the driver's details for the terminal door, not the main arrivals hall.

business aviation

Border, passport and the first hour

The premium terminal at Hamad handles immigration and customs privately, so the first hour in Qatar should be quicker than at the main terminal. What the officers want is in order before you leave: a passport with six months' validity, the right category of British passport for a visa on arrival, and the crew and passenger details filed with the permit. A stay of more than 30 days needs an extension from the Ministry of Interior before the first period ends, and health insurance from a registered provider is required beyond 30 days. On the way home Britain applies its own rule for private flights: the General Aviation Report is filed no earlier than 48 hours and no later than 2 hours before departure, and we file it for you.

From the apron to West Bay

Doha is a Gulf city that has grown along its coast, and most of what a visitor needs sits on a few coastal roads. The two airports are close to each other and to the centre, which makes the choice between them a matter of terminal and handler, not of distance.

Hamad International to central Doha

Doha International to central Doha

Flying to Doha with a dog or a cat

Qatar is a demanding destination for a pet owner, and the first obstacle is a practical one: the import permit cannot be obtained from outside the country, so the application is made through someone in Qatar and a relocation specialist is the usual route. The animal sits beside you in the cabin on our flights, and the rest is paperwork that has to be done in the right order.

private flight with animals

What Qatar typically asks for when a dog or cat arrives from Britain:

  • An import permit from the Department of Animal Resources at the Ministry of Municipality, which can be obtained up to two weeks before travel and is valid for one month;
  • An animal that is more than four months old and carries a microchip, with the chip number, the date of birth and the required vaccinations, including rabies, recorded in the vaccination document;
  • A rabies antibody test from an accredited laboratory showing more than 0.5 IU/ml, dated not less than three months and not more than twelve months before entry;
  • A health certificate from the competent authority of the exporting country, which for Britain means an export health certificate signed by an Official Veterinarian;
  • A special permit from the Ministry of Interior for large and dangerous dogs, and no entry for the banned breeds.

What catches owners out on the Doha run

– The blood test sets the calendar. It is valid for entry only inside a window, so the order of vaccination, test and permit has to be planned months ahead, and an animal that is not in the window cannot simply be fitted in the week before departure;

– The way home is a separate project. A dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain, cats do not, and the travel document and declaration have to be in order. We check which category Qatar falls into on GOV.UK for your date, because the rules for countries outside the simplified list are stricter and include a blood test;

– On a private flight, the question of which airport an animal may enter through and whether it may stay in the cabin is not settled by a printed rule that we can point to. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight, and before the quote is accepted.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.

The Doha calendar: a winter city with a hot summer

Doha has two seasons for visitors. From about November to March the days are warm and the evenings cool, the sports calendar is full and the city is at its busiest. Summer is long and very hot, and the calendar thins out. Knowing which week you want matters more than the choice of aircraft.

November to December
Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, usually late November or early December, at Lusail. Doha Forum, a policy conference, is typically held in early December, and Qatar National Day falls on 18 December. This is the busiest stretch of the year for private flights
December
National Day celebrations, the Qatar Balloon Festival and year-end fireworks on Lusail Boulevard keep the city full through to the New Year. Hotels, cars and parking slots all tighten at once
January and February
Cooler weather and a full events list: the Katara International Arabian Horse Festival in January or February, the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition in February, the Qatar International Food Festival and the Doha Marathon, also February. Mean daytime highs are around 22 to 24 degrees
March and April
Spring is pleasant and quieter, but Ramadan moves through the calendar by roughly eleven days a year and can fall here. Working hours change during the month and normal activity returns after Eid. We check where it falls before pricing
May
The Qatar Economic Forum has usually been held in May and brings delegations from several continents. It is the main business date of the spring
June to September
Long, hot summers: average highs are above 38 degrees from May to September and the weeks around midsummer are the hottest. The season is typically quieter for leisure travel, and early or late flights are kinder to passengers and crews

Why race weekend costs more

Not the flying. The Gulf has plenty of aircraft. What gets tight is the permit lead time, the number of parking positions at the two airports, and good cars and hotel rooms, all in the same few days. A booking made two weeks before the Grand Prix or National Day can still be done, but it pays more and may use an aircraft positioned from Europe or from another Gulf state. The same booking made two months earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks, and especially in summer, Doha is one of the easier places in the region to arrange a flight.

Ways to bring the Doha price down

  • Move the dates a few days, away from race weekend and the National Day week. The weeks in between are calmer and the permits are quicker to arrange;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Doha, Dubai or Riyadh takes less positioning than one coming out from Britain, and on a sector this long positioning is a large share of the bill;
  • Choose the cabin for the sector. A super-midsize jet flies the route without a stop, while a smaller one adds a fuel stop, so the cheaper hourly rate is not always the cheaper trip;
  • Book the return at the same time. A round trip with the aircraft waiting in Doha is priced differently from two single flights, and the difference is worth asking about.

Types of flights

Doha produces its own mix, shaped by a business economy, a large sports calendar and an airline hub that connects the Gulf to Asia and Africa. It differs from the European destinations we cover.

  • Business and delegation travel around the economic forum and the policy conferences, where dates are fixed and arrival formalities matter most;
  • Sports and event travel, above all the Grand Prix weekend in late autumn, with larger parties and a lot of luggage;
  • Family and winter-break travel from Britain between November and March, usually with a night or two on the ground;
  • Gulf hops to Bahrain, Dubai, Riyadh and Muscat, often combined with a Doha stop;
  • Onward legs to Asia and Africa for clients whose aircraft carries on rather than turning round;
  • Positioning flights, where a client travels on a leg that the aircraft was making anyway.

A same-day return from London is not a practical plan on this route. The aircraft and crew would spend the best part of a day in the air and the working window in Doha would be short. A better pattern is to leave in the morning, spend a night or two on the ground and fly back, with the aircraft waiting for you, which we quote next to two separate one-way flights so the difference is visible.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Doha route they come from the pattern of events and from the large long-range fleet based in the Gulf, and it helps to know what produces them.

Where Doha empty legs come from

– Event weeks. When guests fly in for the Grand Prix, a forum or National Day on charters, the aircraft often leave empty a day or two later, which produces outbound legs towards Britain and Europe in the days after;

– Fleet movements. A large operator of long-range Gulfstreams is based in Doha and moves its aircraft according to demand, so a jet that has taken a party out of Doha may need to come back empty, and the reverse;

– Gulf rotation. Aircraft that fly a party to Doha from Dubai, Bahrain or Riyadh often return empty, and the short regional legs between those places can be cheap.

Because the long sector between Britain and the Gulf is flown less often than a European city pair, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Doha match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Doha a helicopter is a specialist tool and not a routine airport transfer. The city is compact and the airport is a drive of about 20 minutes, so the case for rotary flight rests on a view, on a site that has no road access, or on a schedule that does not allow for traffic. Qatar has a large local helicopter operator headquartered in Doha, which lists executive transport among its services.

Before you plan around a helicopter

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. Each pick-up and set-down point needs the approval of the operator and the authorities, and restrictions on airspace can change a route at short notice, so the exact sites are agreed before we quote, not after;

– Heat sets the schedule. In the summer months the hottest hours are hard on aircraft performance and on passengers, so early morning and evening are the sensible slots;

– We choose the machine for the party and the task and book it together with the jet, to keep both crews on one timetable.

We do not publish a fixed fleet list for Qatar, because the aircraft that are available change with the operator and the task. Tell us the sites and the number of passengers, and we come back with the machine, the price and the permission status in one reply.

Doha charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

DELEGATION · FIXED DATES

A team for a three-day forum

Biggin Hill - Doha, Praetor 600, about 7 h 00 min · 6 pax

The dates were set by the forum and not by the client. Six people, laptops, printed folders and a request for a car at the terminal door. The operator confirmed the landing permit in writing, the handler filed the passenger details ahead of the flight, and the return was booked as a separate leg for the end of the week.

MOTORSPORT · THE LUGGAGE BOOKED THE CABIN

A group for the Grand Prix weekend

Farnborough - Doha, Global 6000, about 6 h 30 min · 11 pax

Eleven people, hospitality clothes and cases of equipment took the hold well beyond a super-midsize cabin, and the quote moved up to a long-range jet for that reason, not for the seats. The booking went in two months ahead, and the aircraft left on the Sunday after the race.

WINTER BREAK · A FAMILY IN THE SUN

Four adults and two children for ten days

London Luton - Doha, Praetor 600, about 7 h 05 min · 6 pax

A family trip planned around the school holidays, with the aircraft staying away from Britain for the ten days and the return booked in advance. The round trip was priced as one booking, which came in below two separate one-way charters.

A DOG ON BOARD · MONTHS OF PREPARATION

Two adults and a retriever on a long stay

Southampton - Doha, Praetor 600, about 7 h 05 min · 2 pax + dog

The paperwork took longer than the flight. The microchip, the vaccination, the blood test and the import permit were sorted months ahead, with a relocation specialist in Qatar applying for the permit, and we confirmed the entry point and the cabin arrangement in writing before the offer was accepted.

GULF HOP · ONE BOOKING, THREE STOPS

Doha, Dubai and back over a long weekend

Doha - Dubai, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 00 min · 6 pax

The party finished a meeting in Doha on a Thursday and wanted to be in Dubai that evening. Booked as a single itinerary, the aircraft and crew stayed with them for the weekend instead of repositioning, and the landing permit for each state was requested on the same day.

EMPTY LEG · A JET ALREADY GOING YOUR WAY

Doha back to Britain at the end of a race week

Doha - London Luton, Praetor 600 empty leg, about 7 h 05 min · 4 pax

The aircraft had brought a party to Qatar and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for the long sector.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Doha

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Doha?

About seven hours from Biggin Hill or Stansted (2,923 nautical miles) and a little over seven hours from Luton or Farnborough in a Praetor 600. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about seven hours 10 to 15 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow about seven hours 25 to 30 minutes. Doha is three hours ahead of Greenwich with no summer clock change, so a nine o'clock departure lands in the early evening local time.

2How much does a private jet to Doha cost?

From about £46,550 one way in a super-midsize jet out of Biggin Hill. Luton comes to £46,900, Birmingham to £47,800, Manchester to £48,300 and Glasgow to £50,000. A large-cabin or long-range jet costs considerably more, and the Grand Prix weekend, National Day week and the winter conference season price above these figures.

3Which Doha airport should a private jet use?

Hamad International (DOH / OTHH), about 10 km east of the city, open round the clock, with a runway of about 4,850 m and a premium terminal for private flights where immigration and customs are handled privately. Doha International (DIA / OTBD) is the older field, about 7 km from the city, which handlers describe as used for executive and government flights; slots and handling are both required there. We confirm the field and the handler in writing for each flight.

4Do I need a visa to fly to Qatar?

British holders of a full British Citizen passport can get a tourist visa on arrival for a stay of up to 30 days, and the passport should be valid for at least six months from the day of arrival. A longer stay needs an extension from the Ministry of Interior, and health insurance from a registered provider is required beyond 30 days. Vapes and e-cigarettes are illegal to bring in, and cash or valuables worth more than 50,000 Qatari riyals, about £10,000, must be declared.

5Can I take my dog to Doha on a private jet?

Possibly, and the dog travels in the cabin with you on our flights, but the paperwork starts months ahead. Qatar typically asks for an import permit that cannot be applied for from abroad, a microchip, a rabies antibody test of more than 0.5 IU/ml taken inside a set window, and an export health certificate signed by an Official Veterinarian. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing, and we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

6What should I check about routing and permits before I book?

Ask the operator for its planned route and any technical stop, whether its insurers cover the route, the status of the landing permit, and the cancellation and rerouting terms. Airspace and security conditions in the region can change the routing, the crews available and the insurance terms, sometimes at short notice, so we treat a quote as conditional until the operator confirms in writing. We also suggest reading the FCDO travel advice for Qatar and telling your own insurer where you are going.
