Private jet charter in Samui
Thirteen hours after leaving a London airfield, a jet bound for Samui touches down on a runway that belongs to an airline, and very little about the arrival is routine. Private Jets UK plans the whole chain, from the first quote to the car waiting by the aircraft door. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Koh Samui has one small airport with a 2,100 m runway, fixed opening hours and a handler shared with the scheduled flights. The questions that need an early answer are the slot, the permit and the hour of landing.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Samui depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Global 6000 with one stop on the way and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Samui?
About 13 h 00 min from Biggin Hill in a Global 6000 with one stop on the way, and a little over thirteen hours from Glasgow. The straight line from London is roughly 5,540 nautical miles, which is 92 per cent of what a Global 6000 can fly (about 6,000 nm), leaving a margin of only 460 nm for winds, reserves and a full cabin. The sector is therefore split. Dubai is a convenient break: about 3,067 nm from Biggin Hill and then 2,822 nm on to Samui, which adds 349 nm to the direct line. The stop is not fixed. Another Gulf airport or an airport in India can serve equally well, and the countries overflown are chosen by the operator's flight planners, with a permit for each. The times in the table include about an hour on the ground at the stop.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Thailand keeps one time all year, six hours ahead of Britain in summer and seven in winter. Unlike Phuket or Bangkok, Samui lets the clock decide the booking, because the airport opens at 06:00 and a handler's guide limits private flights to the hours between 07:00 and 21:00. Leave Biggin Hill at nine in the evening and a Global 6000 lands in the late afternoon of the next day, local time, with the whole evening ahead. Leave at nine in the morning and the same aircraft arrives at four or five in the small hours, with the runway closed and nobody to receive it, so that departure is moved to the afternoon. In practice the take-off from Britain falls somewhere between noon and two in the morning. The airport is on the north-east coast, close to Chaweng and Bophut, and most hotels are between 15 and 45 minutes away by car. Count the drive to the British airfield, the stop and the formalities, and the journey from a London office to a Samui villa comes to roughly seventeen hours.
Why this page has no nonstop price
– The range. A Global 6000 is rated at about 6,000 nm, a Gulfstream G550 at 6,750, a G650ER at 7,500 and a Global 7500 at 7,700. The 5,540 nm from Biggin Hill leaves a Global 6000 about 460 nm in hand, so it takes the stop. On paper the two ultra-long-range jets could fly the whole distance;
– The runway. Samui has 2,100 m of asphalt, a take-off run of 1,800 to 1,900 m and a reference temperature of more than 31 degrees Celsius. A large jet leaving for Europe with full tanks is exactly the case in which the runway, and not the range, sets the limit. We plan the way home with a stop as well, and we accept a nonstop plan only when an operator shows the performance calculation in writing;
– The crew. Thirteen hours on the clock is a long duty period for one crew. Ask whether the quote includes a second crew or a rest at the stop, and ask where the aircraft will wait in Samui, because parking there is limited and an aircraft that cannot stay may fly out empty and return for you.

Prices for the private jet flights to Samui
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Samui International with a technical stop on the way. The weeks around Christmas and New Year and the months from October to March sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

The figures are one-way and cover the aircraft, crew, fuel, the stop and the positioning flight home, which on a route this long is a large part of the bill. Landing, parking and handling charges, the permits, catering and the fees at the stop are quoted on top once the dates are fixed. The handler's charges for a private flight are quoted case by case, so we ask for them in writing. A Global 6000 with a stop starts at £158,300 from Biggin Hill, £158,850 from Luton, £161,150 from Manchester and £163,900 from Glasgow. There is no light-jet or midsize price on this page. A Citation XLS+ with a range of roughly 2,100 nm would need two or three stops, each with its own permit, and a quote that offers one should say where it lands.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. Hopping around Thailand: who may fly it
A handler's guide for Samui says that a private flight carrying the same party on arrival and departure may fly domestic legs, that a charter flight may not, and that any extra passenger boarding on a domestic leg has to be declared to the Thai aviation authority with a letter filed alongside the landing permit request. Whether a given booking counts as private or as charter depends on the operator's permit, so we settle that point before anything is quoted, and in practice a sector inside Thailand is usually flown by a Thai-registered operator. The Thai sectors in the table are priced for comparison: Phuket is only 140 nautical miles from Samui, Krabi 112 nm and Bangkok 275 nm. The sectors to Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali and the Maldives are international, follow the normal permit routine and can be flown by the aircraft that brought you.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Who operates it. If a quote for a leg inside Thailand comes from the same company as the long-haul flight, ask which Thai operator flies it and whether its permit is in place;
– Whether it is one trip. Samui, then Phuket, then Singapore, then home is cheaper arranged as a single itinerary than as separate bookings. Say so at the start, because every landing needs a slot and a permit, and the lead time is counted in working days;
– Whether the runway suits the aircraft. A quote for a larger jet out of Samui should come with the take-off performance for the day and the temperature, not only a price.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Samui:
Long-range jets, the working class for this route
London to Samui in two legs sits inside their range. Choose by cabin: the Global 6000 for up to a dozen guests, the Gulfstream G550 when the party is larger or the extra margin matters more than the rate.
Ultra-long-range, with a caution
They have range to spare, but Samui is a short runway in warm air. We use them where the party is large or the schedule tight, and we ask the operator for the take-off figures before promising the way home.
Regional jets, for the sectors out of Samui
The right size for Phuket, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali and the Maldives once you are in the region, and comfortable on a 2,100 m runway. They do not fly from Britain.
Turboprops
The aircraft for short runs such as Krabi, flown by a Thai operator. Short sectors and a small price.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain. Around Samui a helicopter is a way across the water to the neighbouring islands and between the villas on the coast, in daylight, booked ahead and agreed with the operator and the landing site.

This is a small part of what is available. A long-range jet is rarely waiting on Samui, so a charter normally starts with an aircraft positioned from Europe, the Gulf or elsewhere in Asia, and the price is built from the London leg and not from a local base. A jet returning empty from a drop-off in Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong is the opening for a better price, and we look for it on every enquiry.

Business aviation airports on Samui
The island has one airport, and it is the one almost every client uses. The others are on the mainland or across the peninsula, and they come into play when the aircraft is too large for Samui, when the slot is refused or when the jet has to wait somewhere while the party stays on the island. A quote that names anything other than Samui International should say why.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Samui International USM / VTSM |
The airport for every private jet that lands on the island, on the north-east coast a short way north of Chaweng. It is privately owned: Bangkok Airways built it, and the official data names Bangkok Airport Management Company as the operator. The single asphalt runway is 2,100 m by 45 m, with landing distances of 1,825 m on runway 17 and 1,660 m on runway 35. The aerodrome, customs, immigration, fuelling and handling are listed as 2300 to 1500 without a stated time base, which reads as 06:00 to 22:00 Thai time if the figures are UTC, and a handler's guide narrows private and general aviation to 07:00 to 21:00. Jet A-1 comes from BAFS and the handler is Bangkok Airways Ground Services. There is no separate private terminal: business aircraft share the apron and the building with the airline flights, and the guide says a jet should carry its own tow bar. Aircraft of Chapter 2 noise class are not permitted, jets only marginally inside Chapter 3 may not take off or land in the evening and night, from 18:00 to 07:00, and take-offs use the noise abatement procedure. The same guide gives a ceiling of 70 tonnes for the aircraft, which we confirm with the handler |
| Surat Thani URT / VTSB |
The mainland alternative, about 25 km west of Surat Thani town and about 63 nm from Samui in the air. The runway is 3,000 m by 45 m, no noise restrictions are listed, and the aerodrome is open from 06:00 to 22:00 Thai time by the same conversion. Customs and immigration are on request, fuelling runs from 08:00 to 19:00, and no handler or hangar is listed. It is the field for an aircraft too large for Samui or without a slot there. The party then crosses by sea: Donsak pier is about 60 km south of Surat Thani town, and the ferry from Donsak to Lipa Noi on Samui takes about an hour and a half. Count several hours from landing to the villa |
| Phuket International HKT / VTSP |
The big runway across the peninsula, about 140 nm west of Samui. A 3,000 m runway, customs and immigration listed as open round the clock, and the Siam Land Private Jet Terminal on the private side. A heavy jet that cannot stay on Samui can be parked here and called back. Our Phuket page has the details of the permits, the slots and the season |
| Krabi International KBV / VTSG |
A mainland airport on the Andaman side, about 112 nm from Samui. The runway is 3,000 m, the aerodrome is open round the clock, customs and immigration are listed from 08:30 to 16:30 Thai time or on demand, and handling is described as on request. A second place to park or to land when the party is going on to the southern Andaman islands |
| Nakhon Si Thammarat NST / VTSF |
On the Gulf coast, 10 km north of the city and about 63 nm from Samui. The runway is 2,100 m, customs and immigration are on request, and the official data lists no handler. It is on the list so that nobody quotes it as an alternative without saying who would receive the aircraft, and we do not use it for a private jet from Britain |
| The stop on the way, usually Dubai DXB / OMDB, DWC / OMDW |
Where we plan the fuel stop on the way out and the way back, about 2,822 nm from Samui. Two airports are available at Dubai, and which one we use depends on the handler, the slot and the aircraft. An airport in India or elsewhere in the Gulf can take its place. The stop adds about an hour on the ground, which the flying times in the tables above already include |
Four points settle most Samui arrivals:
Choose the handler
There is no choice to make, and that is the point. Bangkok Airways Ground Services provides the ramp, the passenger handling, the transport and the security, and it coordinates the slot and the landing permit with the airport. Catering comes from Bangkok Air Catering, which the guide calls the only provider on the island. Bring a tow bar, ask for the fuel order in writing and do not fill the tanks to the top in the heat of the apron.
Hours, slots and parking
The airport is published as open from 06:00 to 22:00, and a handler's guide keeps private flights to the hours between 07:00 and 21:00, with only local ambulance flights allowed outside them. According to the same guide a slot is requested first, takes about five working days to approve, and has a window of 24 hours either side. Long-term parking is generally available from April to September, and from October to March it has to be asked for well in advance. We confirm all of this with the handler for your dates.
Entry and permits
The Thai aviation authority approves every non-scheduled flight through a permit system, and the slot has to be approved before the permit is requested. The official data asks for at least three working days, and the handler's guide says three to five. Passengers register on the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within three days before landing, and a British passport gives visa-free entry for tourism only.
Cars and the road
The airport is on the busy north-east side of the island. Chaweng, Bophut and Choeng Mon lie in the nearest taxi zone, Maenam and Lamai are further out, and a transfer to any of them is quoted at 15 to 45 minutes. The Four Seasons on the north-west coast is about 25 to 30 minutes away. Book the car with the flight and give the driver the handler's name.

Border, passport and permits
Thailand works to a permit calendar. Every non-scheduled flight needs prior approval from the aviation authority, applied for by the operator with the full schedule, the crew and passenger details, a specific purpose of flight and a local business contact, and a general purpose such as "business flight" is rejected. At Samui the order is fixed: the slot first, then the permit. The official data gives three working days for a permit, the Samui handler's guide gives three to five once the slot is approved, and a wider briefing from a handling company gives ten working days for a private flight and fifteen for a charter and advises two weeks of planning for the whole job. A permit is valid for 24 hours either side of the time stated, the office works from Monday to Friday and is closed at weekends, so a Friday afternoon request waits until Monday. The flight plan is filed six hours before departure. British citizens may enter visa-free for tourism, with the length of stay set by the Thai rules for the date of travel. The gov.uk advice says the exemption does not cover business travel, conferences or meetings, so a trip with a meeting in it needs the right visa. The passport needs six months of validity and a blank page. Officers may ask for evidence of onward travel and of funds of at least 10,000 baht per person or 20,000 baht per family. Everyone completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online, within three days before arrival, and anyone arriving from a yellow fever risk country carries the vaccination certificate. According to the handler's guide, passengers clear customs and immigration on landing in the main terminal, at the arrival gate numbered five, and the paperwork can be arranged in advance. Customs allowances are tight, with no more than 200 cigarettes per person. On the British side the flight is filed on a General Aviation Report, between 48 and 2 hours before departure. Britain, Thailand and the stop on the way are all outside the Schengen area.

From the apron to the villa and the neighbouring islands
Samui is an island of about 229 square kilometres with a ring road, and the airport sits on the busy side of it. Beyond the road lie the ferry piers for Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, which have no airport of their own and so are reached through Samui. The figures below come from handlers and ferry operators and are approximate. They stretch in the evening, in the rain and around the full moon.

Flying to Samui with a dog or a cat
Thailand lets a dog or a cat arrive by private jet, and the paperwork has to be ready before the booking, because the Thai import permit comes first and the return to Britain is the harder half. The animal stays beside you in the cabin.

What the two halves look like:
- Into Thailand: an import permit applied for in advance to the animal quarantine station at the port of entry, no later than seven working days before departure according to the Thai embassy guidance, and valid for 60 days. It comes with a microchip certificate, rabies vaccination at least 21 days before departure (dogs also distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis; cats also feline panleukopenia) and an official health certificate valid for 10 days. The animal must be at least four months old, and a rabies antibody test is not required. A handling company's guide adds a negative leptospirosis test within 30 days for dogs, so we confirm the full list in writing before the flight;
- On arrival the animal goes to the quarantine office for a veterinary inspection, and an animal that shows no signs of illness is normally not quarantined, though the officer may detain any animal. The official pages we found name Suvarnabhumi and other international airports, and the handler's guide for Samui sends pets through Suvarnabhumi, so we ask in writing whether an animal may clear on the island and at what hours, or has to enter elsewhere;
- Leaving Thailand: an export permit and a health check at the quarantine station, no more than three days before departure;
- Into Great Britain: Thailand does not appear in the gov.uk table of listed countries, so the stricter rules for countries that are not listed apply. The animal needs a Great Britain pet health certificate issued within 10 days of arrival and a rabies blood test, taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, at an EU-approved laboratory with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml, and it must wait 3 months from the date of the sample before it travels;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. Cats do not need it, and each animal travels with the pet travel document and a declaration;
- No more than five animals per traveller, and quarantine of up to four months if the rules are not met. The stop on the way is a third country, so its rules for an animal in transit are checked as well.
What catches owners out on the Samui run
– The blood test sets the calendar. It cannot be taken until a month after the vaccination, and the three months run from the sample, so the planning starts about four months before the return flight. A date that cannot move is better booked after the paperwork than before it;
– The Thai deadline is short and the certificate is short-lived. Seven working days for the permit and ten days of validity for the health certificate leave little room for a weekend or a holiday in between;
– A fortnight on Samui with a dog is possible, and a long weekend booked on Thursday usually is not. Many owners leave the animal at home, and that is an honest answer we give when the rules and the dates do not meet.
Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Samui calendar: dry months, the autumn rains and a monthly party
Samui sits on the Gulf of Thailand, and its weather does not follow Phuket's. The heavy rain comes late in the year, from mid-October to early December, while the middle of the year is comparatively dry. Demand is tightest from October to March, and the choice of week matters more than the choice of aircraft.
Why the busy months cost more
The aircraft are not the scarce thing in these months. The hours are. A handler's guide limits private flights on Samui to the hours between 07:00 and 21:00, on a ramp shared with the airline's own flights, and says that from October to March a parking place has to be requested well in advance. When none can be had, the jet drops the party and flies to Phuket, Krabi or Surat Thani to wait, then returns for the departure, and both positioning legs go into the invoice. A booking made a fortnight before Christmas can still be done, but it costs more and may mean an aircraft brought in from the Gulf, while the same request made two months earlier leaves room to choose the slot. In the wet autumn weeks the pinch is the weather over the sea crossings more than the ramp.
Ways to bring the Samui price down
- Move the dates out of the two weeks around Christmas and New Year. April to September are the easiest months for a parking place, and the question of where the aircraft waits mostly disappears;
- Ask where the aircraft starts. One already based in the Gulf or in Asia saves a long positioning leg, and on a route of this length that leg is a large share of the price;
- Match the aircraft to the party. Up to a dozen guests a Global 6000 does the job, while a larger jet costs more per hour and sits closer to the limits of a 2,100 m runway;
- Decide early whether the jet waits. A fortnight on the ramp, a stay at Phuket and a flight home empty are three different invoices, and the choice depends on the number of days and on what the handler allows.
Types of flights
Samui is a holiday island first and a business destination a long way second. A handler's guide says it has more five-star hotels than Phuket, and the interesting part of a trip is often the next hop by sea.
- Family holidays in a villa for one or two weeks, with the aircraft flying home empty or waiting;
- Couples and honeymoons at the resorts on the hillsides and private bays, among them the Four Seasons, Banyan Tree, Six Senses, Conrad and the Ritz-Carlton;
- Yacht racing at the Samui Regatta, with guests who come for the week;
- Full moon weekends on Koh Phangan, with the party staying on Samui and crossing by boat;
- Diving and island days on Koh Tao, reached by catamaran from the Maenam pier;
- Asian loops through Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali or the Maldives, with Samui as one stop of several.
The question that takes longest to settle is whether the aircraft stays. Two weeks on the ramp, if the handler allows it, is a large invoice, and a one-way flight out with a scheduled flight home from Phuket or Bangkok can come out cheaper than it looks. We price the options side by side before you decide.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Between London and Samui they are rare, because the route is long and few aircraft fly it for the sake of positioning alone.
Where Samui empty legs come from
– The long-haul return. A large-cabin jet flies a party to Samui, waits a few days and comes back empty, which produces a westbound leg you can book;
– The Asian loop. Aircraft positioned to Bangkok, Singapore or Hong Kong for a business trip sometimes pass through Samui on the way back, and a short regional sector appears at a lower price;
– The parking shuffle. A jet that cannot stay on Samui flies to Phuket or Krabi to wait, and the positioning flight there and back can be offered to a second client.
A client who can name a window of several days has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening, and on Samui the window should fall inside the hours the handler allows for private flights. The operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can disappear when the first booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Samui match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
On Samui a helicopter is a way to cross water, and water is what separates the island from everything else a guest wants to see. A handler's guide says helicopter transfers into the airport are possible and follow the same slot and parking procedure as the business jets, so a helicopter that lands at the airport is planned like an aircraft. For a private client we arrange a Thai-registered operator and the landing site separately and tie both to the jet's timetable.

Before you plan around a helicopter
– Check the landing place first. Koh Phangan and Koh Tao have no airport, and a hotel lawn is not a helipad. The status of a site has to be confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Expect daylight and weather limits. Rain and low cloud can ground a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, and an evening landing from London usually means a car that night and a helicopter the next morning;
– Keep a boat or a car in reserve. For the neighbouring islands the helicopter saves hours when it flies and none when it does not.
We book a helicopter alongside the jet when a site and a permit are in place, and the type is confirmed with the quote. For most clients the car is the answer on the island and the boat the answer for the neighbours, and the helicopter is for the party that has one day and a long list.

Samui charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
FAMILY · A VILLA FOR TWO WEEKS
Eight guests and a villa at Chaweng Noi
Manchester - Samui with a stop, Global 6000, about 13 h 15 min · 8 pax
Two families, three generations and a lot of luggage. The aircraft left Manchester in the early evening and landed in the afternoon of the next day, inside the hours of the airport. The jet did not wait for them. It flew to Phuket to park and came back for the return, which we priced as a single package before the booking.
THE CLOCK · A MORNING DEPARTURE
Two executives who wanted to leave at nine
London Luton - Samui with a stop, Global 6000, about 13 h 05 min · 2 pax
The plan was a nine o'clock departure. That would have meant landing at four or five in the morning, when the runway is closed and the private flights are not allowed in. We moved the take-off to the evening, and the same jet landed in the late afternoon of the next day with a car at the aircraft door.
REGATTA · LATE SPRING
Friends who came for the sailing
Biggin Hill - Samui with a stop, Global 6000, about 13 h 00 min · 6 pax
Six guests for a week of racing off Chaweng Beach in the second half of May. The booking was made two months ahead, the slot was confirmed well before the permit, and the hotel on the east coast was only fifteen minutes from the airport. The aircraft stayed, since long-term parking was open that time of year.
FULL MOON · THE SHORT CROSSING
A party that wanted Koh Phangan for one night
Edinburgh - Samui with a stop, Global 6000, about 13 h 25 min · 7 pax
Koh Phangan has no airport, so the jet landed on Samui and the party went on by boat from the pier near the airport. The crossing is short, but the boats fill up around the date, so the seats were booked days ahead, and the rooms were kept on Samui, where the morning after is quieter.
A DOG ASKED ABOUT · ANSWERED BEFORE THE QUOTE
A labrador and the return paperwork
London to Samui and back, Global 6000 · 4 pax + dog
The family asked about the dog first. We explained the Thai import permit, the short life of the health certificate and, on the way back, the rabies blood test and the three-month wait that apply to a country outside the gov.uk list. They left the dog with relatives. Sometimes that is the right result of a quote.
PEAK SEASON · THE JET THAT COULD NOT STAY
A fortnight at Christmas
Glasgow - Samui with a stop, Global 6000, about 13 h 25 min · 9 pax
Parking on the island is usually tight from October to March, so the aircraft dropped the party and flew on to Phuket, where it waited, and returned for the trip home. Two extra positioning flights went into the invoice. A booking made earlier would have kept the cost lower, and the family chose to accept it, since the dates could not move.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Samui
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Samui?
About 13 h 00 min from Biggin Hill or London City in a Global 6000 with a stop of roughly an hour on the way, and around 13 h 25 min from Glasgow. The distance is roughly 5,540 nautical miles in a straight line. Thailand is six hours ahead of Britain in summer and seven in winter, and a handler's guide limits private flights on Samui to the hours from 07:00 to 21:00, so the take-off from Britain usually falls between noon and two in the morning.
2How much does a private jet to Samui cost?
From about £158,300 one way on a Global 6000 with a stop out of Biggin Hill, and £158,850 from Luton. Manchester is £161,150, Edinburgh £162,950 and Glasgow £163,900. The months from October to March and the weeks around Christmas price above these figures, and permits, landing and parking charges are added once the dates are fixed.
3Which airport should a private jet use on Koh Samui?
Samui International (USM / VTSM), the only airport on the island. It is privately owned by Bangkok Airways, has a 2,100 m runway, and is open from 06:00 to 22:00 Thai time, with private flights kept to 07:00 to 21:00 according to a handler's guide. Handling is by Bangkok Airways Ground Services. For a jet too large for the runway or without a slot, Surat Thani (URT / VTSB) on the mainland has a 3,000 m runway, and Phuket (HKT / VTSP) is the large alternative across the peninsula.
4What do British passengers need to enter Thailand on a private jet?
A passport valid for at least six months with a blank page, and the Thailand Digital Arrival Card completed online within three days before landing. Visa-free entry for British citizens is for tourism, with the length of stay set by the Thai rules for the date of travel, and business travel needs the right visa. Officers may ask for evidence of onward travel and funds. The operator needs a slot and a landing permit from the Thai aviation authority, and the Samui handler's guide gives three to five working days for the permit once the slot is approved.
5Can a private jet fly from London to Samui without a stop?
On paper a Gulfstream G650ER or a Global 7500 has the range, because the direct line is about 5,540 nm and they are rated at 7,500 and 7,700 nm. A Global 6000 is rated at about 6,000 nm and takes a stop. We do not quote a nonstop flight, because Samui has a 2,100 m runway in warm air and the way home with full tanks is limited by the take-off run, and we price the stop unless an operator confirms a nonstop plan in writing.
6Can I take my dog to Samui on a private jet?
The dog travels in the cabin, but both ends have conditions. Thailand asks for an import permit applied for in advance, a microchip, a current rabies vaccination and an official health certificate, and we confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing before the flight. For the return, Thailand is not in the gov.uk table of listed countries, so the animal needs a Great Britain pet health certificate, a rabies blood test and a three-month wait from the sample, plus a tapeworm treatment for a dog 24 to 120 hours before arrival.
