Private jet charter to Helsinki
Helsinki is two and a half hours from London and twenty-eight minutes from Tallinn, which tells you most of what you need to know about where it sits. It is the northernmost capital in the European Union, the gateway to Lapland, and a working port city that happens to be one of the great design capitals of Europe. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we quote for Helsinki sit at the London fields, in Scotland and across the Nordic and Baltic capitals, and Aberdeen is the shortest British run to Finland.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter to Helsinki depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Every price on this page is indicative and put together the way a real quote is: a named aircraft on a named sector, the passenger count shown. The tables below give current levels, and a personal calculation takes our consultant about 20 minutes through any form here.
How long does it take to fly to Helsinki?
Two hours thirty-four minutes from Luton over a sector of 979 nautical miles, and two hours fourteen from Aberdeen, which is the shortest British run to Finland. Vantaa sits seventeen kilometres north of the centre, about twenty-five minutes by road or half an hour on the train.
These are the sectors we fly most often into Helsinki. Times include the climb and the descent, and assume the routing across the North Sea and southern Scandinavia that these flights normally take:

Prices for the private jet flights to Helsinki
Below are the approximate prices for recent flights from across the UK, sorted from the lowest price. Two things that move the price on this route
– Winter operations. De-icing is routine here from November to April and it lengthens the turnaround rather than the flight, which matters when a same-day return is planned tightly. Vantaa is built for it and rarely closes, but the schedule needs the margin;
– The Lapland season. From December to March a large share of the traffic through Helsinki is continuing north to Rovaniemi, Kittila and Ivalo, and in those weeks the onward legs are harder to secure than the inbound one. Ask about the whole itinerary rather than the first flight, and check the empty legs if your dates move.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database holds over 6500 business jets. On a two and a half hour sector the question is range with a full cabin, and whether the onward leg to Lapland is part of the plan, because that changes the answer:
Turboprops
Not a candidate from Britain at nine hundred miles and more, but the workhorse of Finnish domestic aviation: the Lapland fields are turboprop country and a PC-12 goes places a jet cannot.
Light jets
Comfortable from Scotland and tight from the south with a full cabin. Aberdeen to Helsinki on a Phenom 300 is the cheapest line in the table above; the same aircraft from Luton is closer to its limits than we like.
Super-midsize
Where this route lives. An XLS+ covers every British departure in the table with eight aboard and the luggage that a Finnish winter requires, and it is what most of our Helsinki bookings fly on.
Heavy jets
Booked for a party of a dozen and for the corporate traffic that moves between London and the Finnish technology and forestry groups, which is steadier business than the winter tourism.
Ultra-long range
Seen at Vantaa regularly on Asian routings, because Helsinki sits on the shortest line between western Europe and north east Asia and has done for decades.

This is only a part of what is available. The aircraft on your contract is chosen for the sector and the date, and where an onward Lapland leg is involved we plan both together rather than separately.

Business aviation airports in Helsinki
Vantaa is the airport, and one name that still appears in older listings is not an option at all. Helsinki-Malmi, ten kilometres from the centre, was the general aviation field for the region for eighty-five years; the city terminated its aviation lease and the last flight left in March 2021. The land is being built on. Any directory offering it today is out of date.
three runways, the longest 3,500 m, open around the clock17 km to the centre
run by Finavia, staffed 24 hours, aircraft parking directly outsideseparate building on the south apron
arranged by the handler, and worth requesting early in the Lapland seasonrequired
de-icing and snow clearance are routine here rather than exceptionalbuilt for it
What the winter actually costs you
Not the flight. Vantaa is designed for Nordic conditions and stays open through weather that would shut most European airports, with three runways and clearance equipment to match. What winter costs is turnaround time: de-icing before departure adds anything from twenty minutes to an hour depending on conditions, and it happens after boarding rather than before. On a same-day return that margin is the difference between a plan and a hope, and we build it in.
The business terminal sits on the southern part of the apron, apart from the main building, with aircraft parking directly in front and the car park a few metres from the door. Customs and passport control are on site. For a flight from Britain that means the walk from the aircraft to the vehicle runs to a couple of minutes, and the twenty-five minute drive into the centre is the longest part of the arrival.
Where people go from the ramp
– The city centre and the harbour, twenty-five minutes by road or half an hour on the train, which leaves the airport every ten;
– Espoo and the technology campuses at Otaniemi, twenty minutes west, which is where a good share of the business traffic goes;
– The archipelago and the summer houses along the coast, an hour or so in either direction;
– Lapland, an hour and a quarter further north by air to Rovaniemi or Kittila, which for many arrivals is the real destination.

Flying to Helsinki with a dog or a cat
Finland is inside the European pet travel scheme and the paperwork is the familiar set, with one addition that catches people out. Like Norway and Ireland, Finland asks for tapeworm treatment on the way in as well as on the way home.
What Finland asks for on the way in:
- An ISO 11784/11785 microchip, implanted before the rabies vaccination rather than after it;
- A rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before entry, the animal being 12 weeks old or more when it was administered;
- An EU Animal Health Certificate from a UK government-authorised veterinarian, issued within 10 days of arrival and valid for the journey home for up to four months;
- Tapeworm treatment for dogs before arrival in Finland, administered and recorded by a vet in Britain within the permitted window;
- Praziquantel again from a Finnish vet 24 to 120 hours before landing back in Britain. Dogs only; cats are exempt from both.
The requirement that catches people out
Two worming appointments rather than one. Finland is among the small group of countries that protects itself against the fox tapeworm by requiring treatment on entry as well as on exit, which means the first dose has to be given by your own vet in Britain before you leave. Miss it and the animal has a problem at the border rather than at the vet. We set both timings out in writing for your dates before the booking is taken.
Three things about the Finnish winter
– Cold that reads differently from British cold. January in Helsinki runs to fifteen below and the sea freezes, so short-coated breeds need a coat and paw protection rather than merely a brisk walk;
– Salt and grit on the pavements, which cut paws badly. The wax that prevents it is sold in every Finnish pet shop and applied before each walk;
– The city is easy once you are equipped. Dogs ride the trams and the metro, most hotels take them, and the forest paths around the city are cleared and walked all winter.
Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are set out on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the current position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
Types of flights
Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:
- private flights;
- corporate flights;
- business class flights;
- concert tours;
- medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
- tourist flights for large and small groups;
- sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
- combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
- exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
- cargo flights, etc.
A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Helsinki). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

Jet Sharing
Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.
We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.
Main advantages of this service:
- All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
- You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
- No baggage restrictions;
- Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
- Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.
Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter
Southern Finland is flat, well roaded and compact, so a rotary leg here competes against a car that is already quick. Where it wins is water: the archipelago in summer and the gulf crossing to Estonia are both slow by any surface route and fast by air. These are the legs we arrange most:
twenty-five minutes by road, so this one is asked for more often than it is flownabout 8 minutes
an hour or more by road and boat in summer15 to 25 minutes
two hours by fast ferry across the gulfabout 25 minutes
two hours by road along the coastabout 40 minutes
the Saimaa lakes east, three hours or more by road40 to 55 minutes
The machines that work these routes
– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most Finnish transfer work and suited to the smaller island sites;
– Airbus H130 and Bell 429 for a party of six, the usual choice on the archipelago and Lakeland runs;
– Airbus H145 and AgustaWestland AW139 where twin engines are wanted for the gulf crossing, which most operators treat as the standard over that water.
Two points on rotary legs here
– Winter darkness narrows the window. Helsinki is far enough south to keep a few hours of daylight through December, unlike Lapland, but a January afternoon flight means departing before three;
– Sea ice changes the picture rather than stopping it. The gulf freezes most winters and the archipelago legs then land on cleared sites rather than at jetties, which the local operators handle routinely but which needs saying at the booking stage.

Helsinki charters we have flown: six trips from the booking notes
Written up from our brokers’ own notes. Initials replace names, and details are altered where a client would otherwise be identifiable. The prices are what those bookings cost and the flight times match the tables above.
LAPLAND · THE REAL DESTINATION
The W. family: Helsinki was the connection, not the trip
London Luton - Helsinki, Citation XLS+, 2 h 34 min · 6 passengers
December, and Helsinki was a customs and crew stop on the way to Kittila rather than a place they saw. We planned both legs together, which is the only sensible way to do it in that month: the onward flights north are harder to secure than the inbound one. About 9,500 GBP for the first leg.
SCOTLAND · THE SHORT WAY EAST
An Aberdeen technology group: four people and a day of meetings
Aberdeen - Helsinki, Phenom 300, 2 h 14 min · 4 passengers
Aberdeen is the shortest British run to Finland at 860 nautical miles, and the cheapest line in the table above. Out at seven, meetings in Espoo from eleven, back on the ramp at six. Around 6,900 GBP each way, which is two and a half thousand less than the same trip from London.
WINTER · THE DE-ICING MARGIN
A corporate party of eight: the return that nearly slipped
Manchester - Helsinki, Citation XLS+, 2 h 34 min · 8 passengers
February, and the departure needed de-icing after boarding, which added fifty minutes to a turnaround they had planned at thirty. They made their evening commitment because the schedule had the margin built in. Since then we put the de-icing allowance in writing on every winter booking here.
BALTIC · TWENTY-EIGHT MINUTES
Mr K. S.: two capitals in a working day
Tallinn - Helsinki, Phenom 300, 0 h 28 min · 5 passengers
The shortest international sector anywhere on this site. Fifty-four nautical miles across the gulf, against two hours on the fast ferry. At about 2,600 GBP it is not cheap per mile and it buys back most of a day, which for a party working across both cities is the entire point.
PET · TWO WORMING APPOINTMENTS
Mrs L. A.: a retriever and a rule she had not met
Edinburgh - Helsinki, Citation XLS+, 2 h 27 min · 2 passengers and a dog
Finland asks for tapeworm treatment on the way in as well as on the way home, which most owners have never encountered. Hers was given by her own vet in Britain before departure and the second in Helsinki before the return. Neither was difficult; missing the first would have meant a problem at the border.
DESIGN WEEK · SEPTEMBER
A London studio: six people and a stand
London Stansted - Helsinki, Citation XLS+, 2 h 31 min · 6 passengers
Helsinki Design Week fills the city in September and it is the one week of the year when the hotels here behave like a congress town. Booked five weeks out. About 9,400 GBP each way. September is also the best weather Finland gets, which nobody outside the country seems to know.
Helsinki as a destination
Helsinki is a capital of six hundred and fifty thousand people built on a peninsula and three hundred islands, and it is younger and stranger than the other Nordic capitals. It became the capital in 1812, under Russian rule, and the neoclassical centre was built to resemble St Petersburg; the Finns spent the twentieth century filling the rest with the modernism that made the country’s name. Alvar Aalto is everywhere here, and so is the design tradition he belongs to.
The city works in a way visitors notice immediately. The airport train runs every ten minutes, the trams are clean, the water is drinkable and the sea is on three sides. What it does not do is announce itself: there is no cathedral square full of tour groups and no old town in the Tallinn sense, and the pleasures here are quieter than that. Saunas, islands, food that has improved beyond recognition in twenty years.
A good share of the traffic on this page is not stopping. Helsinki is the natural staging point for Lapland, an hour and a quarter further north, and from December to March the aircraft that land here are often continuing to Rovaniemi, Kittila or Ivalo the same day. The city is also the shortest hop from Tallinn anywhere in Europe, at fifty-four nautical miles, which makes a two-capital day genuinely practical.
Where to stay
- Hotel St George. In a nineteenth century building on a garden square in the centre, the best hotel in the city by most reckonings, with the art collection to match;
- Hotel Kamp. The grand hotel of 1887 on the Esplanade, where the country’s political history happened and where the bar still fills on a Friday;
- Hotel Maria. The newest of the top tier, on Mariankatu near the harbour, in a set of restored merchant houses;
- Lapland Hotels Bulevardi, for anyone who wants the northern idiom without leaving the capital, and a decent introduction to what the country does with wood;
- Hotel Punkaharju or the Saimaa lodges, three hours east or fifty minutes by air, for the lake country that most visitors miss entirely;
- Onward to Lapland, which for a good share of our winter passengers is where the actual stay happens.
What to do
- Sauna properly. Loyly on the waterfront and Allas by the harbour are the public ones worth the visit, and the sea swim between rounds is the point rather than an ordeal;
- Suomenlinna. The eighteenth century sea fortress across the water, a UNESCO site, fifteen minutes by ferry and an afternoon well spent;
- Design. The Design Museum, the Aalto house at Munkkiniemi, and the shops along Fredrikinkatu that make the reputation real rather than notional;
- Eat. The market halls at Hakaniemi and the old harbour, and a restaurant scene that has gone from provincial to serious inside a generation;
- The islands. Vallisaari, Lonna and the archipelago beyond, which in summer are where the city goes;
- Tallinn for the day, twenty-eight minutes by air across the gulf, and a completely different city at the other end.
When the city is busy
- December to March, when the Lapland traffic runs through and the onward legs north are the constraint rather than the inbound flight;
- Helsinki Design Week in September, the one week when the city fills the way a congress town does;
- Midsummer in late June, when Finland closes and goes to the lakes, and the city is quieter than at any other time;
- July and August, the short bright summer, when the archipelago and the coastal houses fill and the rotary legs are worth their cost;
- April, May and October, which are the quietest weeks and the best value on this page.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Helsinki
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Helsinki?
Two hours thirty-four minutes from Luton on a Citation XLS+ over the 979 nautical mile sector, and two thirty-one from Stansted. From Aberdeen it is two hours fourteen, which is the shortest British run to Finland; from Edinburgh two twenty-seven and from Manchester two thirty-four.
2How much does a private jet to Helsinki cost?
From about 6,900 GBP one way from Aberdeen on a Phenom 300 and 8,900 GBP from Newcastle, rising to around 9,500 GBP from Luton or Manchester and 10,100 GBP from Belfast on a Citation XLS+. The spread between departure points is unusually narrow here, because once you are past Scotland the distance barely changes.
3Can I land at Helsinki-Malmi?
No. Malmi was the general aviation airfield for the region for eighty-five years and it closed to aviation in March 2021, when the city terminated its lease and the land was released for housing. Some directories still list it. Every private flight to Helsinki now uses Vantaa, which has a separate business and VIP terminal on the southern apron.
4What does the Finnish winter mean for the flight?
Not much for the flight itself and something for the schedule. Vantaa is built for Nordic conditions and closes very rarely, with three runways and equipment that keeps it working through weather that would shut most airports further south. What winter costs is turnaround time: de-icing happens after boarding and adds twenty minutes to an hour, so a same-day return needs that margin built in.
5Can I bring my dog?
Yes, in the cabin with you and with no weight limit, but Finland has a requirement worth knowing in advance: tapeworm treatment is needed on the way in as well as on the way home. The outbound dose has to be given by your own vet in Britain within the permitted window before arrival, and the second by a Finnish vet before the flight back.
