Private jet charter in Senegal
A business jet bound for Dakar lands 43 kilometres from the city it serves, and that gap, more than the six hours or so in the air, shapes a charter to Senegal. The sector from Biggin Hill is 2,445 nautical miles, which an Embraer Praetor 600 flies without a stop; lighter jets break the journey in the Canaries. Private Jets UK plans Senegal charters around the same short list of questions each time: which aircraft has the range, how long the permit takes, which handler meets the aircraft at Blaise Diagne, and whether the programme stays in Dakar or reaches the coast and the south. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Senegal that means the overflight and landing authorisation, a handler named before the aircraft leaves Britain, a car waiting at the steps and, where the programme calls for it, a local operator for the sectors inside the country.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Senegal depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 to Dakar Blaise Diagne, nonstop, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Senegal?
Senegal keeps Greenwich Mean Time all year and does not change its clocks. On landing, the local time matches Britain in winter and runs one hour behind it from spring to autumn. These are the sectors to Dakar on a Praetor 600, gate to gate:
2,445 nautical miles, the closest of the London fields that suit a long sector, and the basis for the price at the top of the pageabout 5 h 45 min
2,428 nautical miles, the usual choice for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valleyabout 5 h 45 min
2,468 nautical miles, the choice for north London, Hertfordshire and the Midlandsabout 5 h 50 min
2,523 nautical miles, the main departure for the north of Englandabout 5 h 55 min
2,660 nautical miles, the main Scottish departure, with the longest sector of the fiveabout 6 h 15 min
Why the aircraft decides the plan
The Praetor 600, the Challenger 605 and everything larger cover London to Dakar in one hop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E and a midsize jet such as the Citation XLS+ have ranges of roughly 2,000 nautical miles, so they route through Gran Canaria, which typically adds about an hour for the landing and the fuel uplift.
The stop buys a lower hourly rate and costs time. On the same departure from Biggin Hill a Phenom 300E through Gran Canaria takes about 6 h 50 min gate to gate, about an hour more than the Praetor 600 that flies straight through, and it adds a second landing, a second handling bill and a fuel uplift. For two or three passengers with soft bags the one-stop routing can be the cheaper quote, and we price both; for a larger party, or for anyone whose day is tight, the nonstop jet is the better plan.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Senegal
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain to Dakar, listed cheapest first. The entry price is Biggin Hill to Blaise Diagne on a Praetor 600, the smallest class that crosses without a stop. The other rows show the aircraft we would usually propose from that airfield, a Praetor where it is the natural choice and a larger cabin for parties who want more room:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Dakar is the destination of almost every trip, so the departure airfield moves the price less than the aircraft does. Each hundred miles adds roughly £1,500 on a Praetor 600; Manchester costs about £1,150 more than Biggin Hill on the same aircraft, and the step from a Praetor to a Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £10,950;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies home empty. For a return with a stay of several days the aircraft either waits at Blaise Diagne, with parking and the crew's hotel as lines of their own, or flies back and returns for you. Overflight and landing authorisation, handling and fuel are quoted separately, and that is where two quotes for the same trip usually differ.
Private jet flights within Senegal and to its neighbours
Senegal is built around one capital. Saint-Louis is only 94 nautical miles from Blaise Diagne in a straight line, Ziguinchor and Cap Skirring 141 and 143, and The Gambia lies between Dakar and the Casamance. These are the sectors we are asked for:

Domestic sectors and the neighbours
– A British aircraft does not usually fly the domestic sectors with passengers. Carrying passengers between two points in another country is cabotage, which most countries reserve for local operators, so Dakar to Saint-Louis or to the Casamance is typically flown by a Senegalese operator or on Air Senegal, which lists scheduled flights from Dakar to Saint-Louis, Ziguinchor and Cap Skirring. We name the option for each leg when we quote;
– Banjul, Praia, Abidjan and Casablanca are separate countries, each with its own permit, entry rules and handling, so a hop from Dakar is a new international trip.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Senegal:
Turboprops
The aircraft for the Senegalese sectors, never for the journey from London. Dakar to Saint-Louis or to the Casamance is well under an hour and a half in either.
Light and midsize jets
These need a fuel stop on the way out from Britain, usually in Gran Canaria, and suit four to six people with soft bags.
Super-midsize
The first class that crosses to Dakar in one hop from London. The Praetor 600 sets the entry price on this route.
Heavy jets
For a delegation or a family with staff and luggage. A Challenger 605, Legacy 650 or Falcon 2000LXS flies from anywhere in Britain without a stop.
Ultra-long range
The Global 6000 and the Gulfstreams save a little time and carry up to 16 people, which suits an official party or a corporate group.

Business aviation airports in Senegal
Senegal has one airport that takes international business traffic every day, and five other fields that matter for particular errands. Dakar Blaise Diagne is the gateway for almost every charter from Britain:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Dakar Blaise Diagne International DSS / GOBD |
about 43 km east of central Dakar, near the town of Diass in the Thies region | One asphalt runway, 01/19, of 3,500 metres (11,483 feet) at an elevation of 290 feet. Listed as open round the clock with the tower staffed 24 hours, customs and airport of entry status, and Jet A-1 available. Flysafe Aviation is listed as an FBO and handler inside the terminal building, and more than a dozen other handling and trip-support companies are listed for the airport |
| Dakar Leopold Sedar Senghor International DKR / GOOY |
at Yoff, a northern suburb of Dakar | Two asphalt runways, 18/36 of 3,490 metres and 03/21 of 1,500 metres. The scheduled airlines moved to Blaise Diagne, and the old field shares its site with the French air base at Ouakam. We plan a private arrival here only if the handler confirms the customs position and the parking in writing |
| Saint-Louis XLS / GOSS |
on the coast of the north, 320 km north of Dakar | An asphalt runway 18/36, rebuilt and lengthened, with Air Senegal flights to Dakar. No customs status is listed, so an international party clears at Dakar first |
| Cap Skirring CSK / GOGS |
at the beach resort in the Casamance, near the border with Guinea-Bissau | An asphalt runway 15/33 of 2,000 metres, with scheduled flights to Dakar. No customs status is listed, so the usual plan is to clear at Dakar and continue on a domestic flight |
| Ziguinchor ZIG / GOGG |
at the regional capital of the Casamance | An asphalt runway 10/28 of 1,545 metres, the shortest on this list, with scheduled flights to Dakar. Suited to turboprops and light jets |
| Tambacounda TUD / GOTT |
at the regional capital of the east, towards Mali and Guinea | An asphalt runway 06/24 of 2,000 metres. No scheduled service is listed, and the Foreign Office asks for particular care near the Mali border, so any request for the east is checked first |
The distance matters more than it looks on a map. A handler guide puts the drive to downtown Dakar at about an hour, and the Foreign Office notes that protesters sometimes block major roads, including the one between the airport and Dakar. We book the car through the handler or the hotel and add a margin to every meeting that depends on the road.
Four points settle most Senegalese arrivals before a quote goes out:
Authorisation: ask early
Foreign operators may need ANACIM, the civil aviation authority, to approve an overflight or landing. Published rules for non-commercial civil flights call for at least three days' notice for a request sent by fax or aeronautical message and ten days for a written application; handler guidance suggests 72 hours as a routine minimum.
Validity and changes
An individual authorisation is typically valid for 72 hours unless it says otherwise, and the validity on the issued document controls. A new tail number, type, date or route can mean a fresh request.
Papers for the permit
Certificates of registration and airworthiness, insurance, the schedule in UTC, the routing, the purpose of the flight, and the crew and passengers with their nationalities. One guide asks for an air operator certificate and another says where applicable, so we confirm the position for your aircraft.
The handler on the ramp
Flysafe Aviation lists permits, a ramp supervisor for each aircraft, meet and greet, ground transport and security at Blaise Diagne. It does not mention a lounge or customs service, so we ask where your party is processed before the aircraft leaves Britain. The airport administration is listed from 08:00 to 17:00 UTC, so a change on a Friday evening waits for Monday.
Arriving from Britain: passport, yellow fever and the Foreign Office advice
A British passport is enough for a stay of up to three months, with conditions. The passport, the health papers and the authorisation for the aircraft are three separate things, and each has its own checks.
British citizens need no visa for stays of up to three months, but must show evidence of onward or return travel and proof of arranged accommodation, or may be refused entryno visa, bring proof
valid for at least six months after the date of arrival, and not reported lost or stolencheck the expiry
a vaccination certificate is required if you arrive from a country listed as a yellow fever risk, including when you only transit its airport; babies of nine months and under are exempt. Some onward destinations also ask for the certificatea stop in Africa may trigger it
The Foreign Office advice, as published
The Foreign Office does not advise against travel to any part of Senegal. It says that terrorist attacks cannot be ruled out and could be indiscriminate, asks travellers to take particular care in remote areas near the borders with Mauritania and Mali, where the borders are not tightly controlled, and to be alert for clashes in the Casamance, particularly close to the borders with The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau, while noting that the risk is lower in the main tourist areas.
It also reports frequent demonstrations over political issues in Dakar and other cities, which can turn violent, and says that foreign nationals have been prosecuted for attending protests the government has not approved. We ask clients to read the full text before they accept a quote, and our planning follows what is published.
Clearance and the way home
On arrival, passengers and crew clear immigration and customs at Blaise Diagne, which is listed as an airport of entry.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. Passengers who hold another passport should check their own entry rules before they fly.

Which airport for which part of Senegal
The airport follows the errand, and for most errands it is Blaise Diagne. These are the usual pairings:
the capital, with the ministries and the commercial district of the Plateau, the port and the Almadies on the western tipBlaise Diagne
the island is a World Heritage Site reached by boat; the pink salt lake lies about 35 km north-east of DakarBlaise Diagne, then by road
the sandy resort coast of Saly south of Dakar, and beyond it a World Heritage Site of over 200 islands and mangrove channelsBlaise Diagne, then by road and boat
the old colonial capital on its island, 320 km north of Dakar, with a historic centre listed by UNESCODakar, then a local flight or the road
the green south beyond The Gambia, with the beaches of Cap Skirring and the regional capital ZiguinchorDakar, then a local flight
Dakar and the coast: what our clients go for
Business decides most trips. Dakar is the capital, a major port and a transport hub for the region, and it also serves landlocked Mali. Fishing is a major earner of foreign exchange, phosphates have long been exported, and oil and gas have joined the list. The Plateau is the administrative and commercial heart of the city, and delegations usually pair a day there with a call at the Almadies, on the western tip of the peninsula.
Culture is the second reason to come. The Museum of Black Civilisations and the African Renaissance Monument stand in the capital, and Goree Island is a short crossing away. The coast and the south are the leisure side: Saly for a week by the sea, the Saloum Delta for boat days among the mangroves, and Cap Skirring in the Casamance, a beach resort with a golf course that Europeans have visited for decades.
The Senegalese year: the dry months, the harmattan and the rains
Senegal has one dry season and one rainy season, and the difference is large. Dakar sits on the coast, where the sea keeps temperatures lower than inland:
dry and the most comfortable for meetings and for the coast, with the harmattan, a dry wind from the Sahara, bringing haze. Daily highs in Dakar are usually around 25 to 28 degreeshigh season
still dry, with temperatures rising towards the end of the period and the sea breeze keeping Dakar bearablegood
the rainy season. Dakar usually receives most of its yearly rain between July and October, and daytime highs are about 29 to 31 degrees with warm nightswet and humid
the dry months return, and the pink of Lake Retba is easiest to see from November to May, strongest from late January to early Marchshoulder
The Senegalese calendar: the pink lake, jazz, the biennale and the Magal
Dates for cultural events move, and the organisers' announcements are checked before a booking. These are the ones that pull on a flight plan:
What an event does to a flight plan
Crew rooms and drivers run short during the biennale, and the roads are crowded in the days around the Magal. We book the car, the hotel and the authorisation together, and for Saint-Louis in jazz season we reserve the local flight with the jet.

Flying to Senegal with a dog or a cat
A pet can travel in the cabin, but the papers for Senegal take weeks and the way home falls under the stricter British rules. Senegal wants a permit before the animal leaves.
The one fact to read before you book
United States government guidance for Senegal says that an import permit is required for pet dogs and cats, issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock and valid for three months from issuance. A rabies vaccination is required, and a first vaccination must be given at least 21 days before travel. The rabies certificate travels with the health certificate and the permit.
Sources disagree on how close to departure the health certificate must be dated, with figures from 72 hours to 21 days. Third-party guides add an ISO microchip and a French translation of the papers. We obtain the requirements and the permit in writing before the aircraft is confirmed.
- An ISO-standard microchip, typically required and fitted before the rabies vaccination;
- A health certificate from a British vet, dated inside the window the permit sets, with the rabies certificate attached;
- Presentation at the airport the permit names. Third-party guides name the old Dakar airport as the entry point for animals, so we confirm in writing which airport receives your animal.
Coming home, a pet from a country outside the simple British scheme, as we understand Senegal to be, needs a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, then a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, and a wait of three months from the date of the sample before the animal travels. The wait is not required if the animal was vaccinated, blood-tested and given a British health certificate or an EU pet passport before it left for the country, which is why we ask owners to do the tests before the outward flight. A dog must also be treated against tapeworm by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before landing in Britain. No more than five animals may travel with one person, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
We confirm in writing which entry point will receive the animal and which papers are needed. Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out in our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On a sector of nearly six hours the saving is large in absolute terms.
Where Senegalese empty legs come from
– A charter that lands in Dakar and does not wait: the aircraft returns to Europe empty, and the leg home is the one most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioned through Dakar after another West African contract.
A client who can offer a few days has a better chance of a match. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Senegalese empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senegal (Dakar) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £16,550 |
| UK (London Luton) - Senegal (Dakar) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £16,650 |
| UK (Manchester) - Senegal (Dakar) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,000 |
| Senegal (Dakar) - UK (Bristol) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £20,800 |
| Senegal (Dakar) - UK (Birmingham) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £21,400 |
| UK (Farnborough) - Senegal (Dakar) | Legacy 650 | 13 seats | £22,200 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Senegal (Dakar) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £22,850 |
| Senegal (Dakar) - UK (London Gatwick) | Falcon 2000LXS | 10 seats | £23,650 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Praetor 600 from Manchester to Dakar with nine aboard works out at about £1,900 a seat, and with four aboard about £4,250.

Helicopter charter
Helicopters in Senegal are a short-range tool, and the operator depends on the date. We found no helicopter operator at Blaise Diagne that we can name and verify, so we confirm the machine, the crew and each landing site when the request comes in. These are the transfers that come up:
from Blaise Diagne to the old Dakar airport on the coast, in place of the road that protests sometimes blockabout 20 min
the old colonial capital in the north, in place of a long driveabout 55 min
the beach resort in the Casamance, a long sector for a helicopterabout 1 h 25 min
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and daylight is the limit. A helicopter carrying passengers between two Senegalese places is normally a Senegalese one, and a landing away from an airport needs the site agreed in advance.

Flights from the UK to Senegal
Biggin Hill and Farnborough are the south-east business aviation airfields best suited to a long sector, with Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and London City as the other London options, and Southampton, Exeter, Bristol and Birmingham further out. Manchester is 78 nautical miles further from Dakar than Biggin Hill, which adds about £1,150 on a Praetor 600. The table below lists the British airports we work with:

Senegalese charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
DAKAR · ONE NIGHT ON THE GROUND
Two directors and a signing
Biggin Hill - Dakar and return, Praetor 600, about 5 h 45 min each way · 2 pax
The passports had more than six months left, the return tickets and the hotel booking were ready for the immigration desk, and the meeting at the Plateau was timed around the hour-long drive from Blaise Diagne.
DAKAR AND THE PETITE COTE · A DRY-SEASON WEEK
Eight people for a family holiday
London Luton - Dakar, Challenger 605, about 5 h 50 min · 8 pax
A family with staff booked in October for the first week of February, with the cars to the coast and the crew hotel requested together with the authorisation.
SAINT-LOUIS · JAZZ WEEK
Four people for the festival
Southampton - Dakar, Legacy 650, about 5 h 40 min, then Dakar - Saint-Louis on a local flight · 4 pax
No customs status is listed for the Saint-Louis airfield, so the party cleared at Blaise Diagne and took a Senegalese operator's aircraft north the next morning.
DAKAR AND THE CASAMANCE · TWO LEGS
A team going on to the south
Manchester - Dakar, Praetor 600, about 5 h 55 min, then Dakar - Cap Skirring on a turboprop · 6 pax
A British aircraft does not usually carry passengers between two Senegalese cities, so the team changed at Dakar to a local operator for the hop to the beach.
WITH THE DOG · SEVERAL WEEKS OF PAPER
A couple and a spaniel bound for a long stay
Biggin Hill - Dakar, Praetor 600, about 5 h 45 min · 2 pax + dog
The import permit came first and set the date. The dog was vaccinated and blood-tested for the British return before leaving, so there was no three-month wait at home.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE DRY SEASON
A flexible return from Dakar
Dakar - Birmingham, Challenger 605 empty leg, about 5 h 50 min · 5 pax
The client gave us a window of three days instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £21,400, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a Wednesday departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Senegal
