Private jet charter to Iraq

Iraq is the country we are asked about where the answer has moved most often, and where it may move again soonest. The airports work and the region flies to them daily; what stands in the way of a British charter is a safety bulletin that is reviewed every few weeks. This page sets out where that stands today. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we quote for these sectors sit at the London fields and in the North, with Gulf-based partners covering anything that starts east of Europe.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter towards Iraq depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Current status of private jet flights to Iraq

Iraqi airports are open and European operators are advised to stay out - the position as of August 2026

– Baghdad, Erbil, Basra and Najaf are working, and Turkish, Qatari, Emirati and Jordanian carriers serve them daily. Iraqi airspace reopened to overflights in June 2026 after the closures of the spring. This is not a country cut off from aviation;

– What has changed is the guidance for our side of the industry. The current European bulletin for Iraq, issued on 8 July 2026 and valid to the end of August unless reviewed earlier, advises operators not to fly in the Baghdad flight information region at any altitude. The earlier version of the same bulletin applied only below flight level 320; the restriction now covers the whole airspace, which removes both the landing and the overflight;

– The reasons given are missile and drone activity, active air defence systems, the risk of an aircraft being misidentified, and armed groups holding portable anti-aircraft weapons. Iraq has also closed its own airspace at short notice during regional escalations, most recently for several days in the spring. Insurers follow the bulletin, so a British-arranged charter has neither cover nor a compliant routing.

The bulletin covering Iraq is reviewed on a timescale of weeks rather than years. It has been narrowed before and may be narrowed again. In the meantime the practical route is the one the region already uses: a charter to the hub, then a scheduled flight operated by a carrier that works Iraqi airports every day. Amman is closest to Baghdad and Erbil, Istanbul carries the widest choice into the north, and Doha and Dubai serve Baghdad and the south.

Every price on this page is indicative and built the way a real quote is built: a named aircraft on a named sector, two passengers unless stated otherwise. The hub table below shows current levels, and a personal calculation takes our consultant about 20 minutes through any form here.

How long does it take to fly to Iraq?

London to Baghdad is 2,219 nautical miles and Erbil 2,089, both about five hours in a heavy cabin were the sector open to us. It is not, so the times below are to the four hubs, and from Amman the remaining leg is around an hour and a half in a scheduled aircraft.

Worked examples on the hub sectors. Distances are great-circle; the Gulf times allow for the southern routing via Egypt and Saudi Arabia that these flights use, which adds roughly half an hour:

1 route London Luton - Istanbul (IST), by private jet Citation Latitude

  • Aircraft range: 5,000 km;
  • Flight distance: 1,347 nm / 2,495 km great-circle;
  • Cruising speed: 830 km/h;
  • Flight time: 3:25 h

2 route Manchester - Istanbul (IST), by private jet Praetor 600

  • Aircraft range: 7,441 km;
  • Flight distance: 1,440 nm / 2,667 km great-circle;
  • Cruising speed: 863 km/h;
  • Flight time: 3:30 h

3 route London Luton - Amman (AMM), by private jet Challenger 605

  • Aircraft range: 7,408 km;
  • Flight distance: 1,995 nm / 3,695 km great-circle;
  • Cruising speed: 870 km/h;
  • Flight time: 4:40 h

4 route London Luton - Doha (DOH), by private jet Global 5000

  • Aircraft range: 9,630 km;
  • Flight distance: 2,832 nm / 5,245 km great-circle;
  • Cruising speed: 900 km/h;
  • Flight time: about 6:45 h on the southern corridor

5 route London Luton - Dubai (DWC), by private jet Challenger 605

  • Aircraft range: 7,408 km;
  • Flight distance: 2,978 nm / 5,515 km great-circle;
  • Cruising speed: 870 km/h;
  • Flight time: about 7:15 h on the southern corridor

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

From the gateway onwards

– Amman is 427 nautical miles from Baghdad and 480 from Erbil, the shortest hop of the four and the one used most by people working in the country;

– Istanbul is 772 nautical miles from Erbil and 880 from Baghdad, with the widest choice of services into the north;

– Doha is 615 nautical miles from Baghdad and 380 from Basra, and Dubai 761 and 523 respectively, which makes the Gulf hubs the natural approach to the south;

– These onward legs are scheduled flights operated by regional carriers under their own risk assessments and permissions. They are not our charters, and the guidance that keeps our aircraft out applies whichever hub you start from.

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database holds over 6500 business jets, and the five classes below are the ones that appear in quotes for the hub sectors. The hourly rates are the starting levels we see on British departures to Turkey, Jordan and the Gulf:

Turboprops

A feeder class on this route: bringing you to Luton or Manchester from a regional field, and covering short hops once you are at the hub.

Beechcraft King Air 200 · 8 seatsfrom 1,500 EUR/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom 1,700 EUR/h
Piaggio P180 Avanti II · 8 seatsfrom 2,200 EUR/h

Light jets

Comfortable to Istanbul and a feeder elsewhere. For two or three travellers connecting onward rather than staying at the hub, this is often the sensible quote.

Cessna Citation M2 · 7 seatsfrom 2,300 EUR/h
Embraer Phenom 300 · 6 seatsfrom 2,400 EUR/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 8 seatsfrom 2,500 EUR/h

Super-midsize

Workable to Istanbul with a full cabin and to Amman with a light one. Beyond that the Gulf sectors push past what this class does without a stop.

Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom 2,900 EUR/h
Cessna Citation Sovereign · 9 seatsfrom 3,400 EUR/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom 3,900 EUR/h
Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom 4,500 EUR/h

Heavy jets

The class that covers most of this page. Amman non-stop with a full cabin, and the Gulf hubs too on the southern routing, which is where the reconstruction and energy traffic tends to sit.

Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom 4,900 EUR/h
Embraer Legacy 650 · 13 seatsfrom 4,900 EUR/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom 5,000 EUR/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom 6,500 EUR/h

Ultra-long range

Booked for Doha and Dubai when the cabin is full and the schedule is tight, or when the Gulf is one stop in a longer itinerary continuing east.

Bombardier Global 5000 · 13 seatsfrom 6,900 EUR/h
Gulfstream G550 · 16 seatsfrom 7,000 EUR/h
Bombardier Global 6000 · 13 seatsfrom 7,200 EUR/h

Business aviation airports in Iraq

The lists below are kept for reference. These fields are open and handling regional traffic daily; they are not available to a British-arranged charter while the current bulletin stands, and they are where an onward scheduled flight from your hub will land. The two fields with the widest international service are:

  • Baghdad International Airport, ICAO - ORBI, IATA - BGW,
  • Erbil International Airport, ICAO - ORER, IATA - EBL.

Baghdad and Erbil carry most of the traffic, with Basra serving the south and the energy sector, Najaf the pilgrimage routes and Sulaymaniyah the east of the Kurdistan region. For the current onward schedule to any of them, ask our consultants.

business aviation

The other Iraqi fields, again for reference rather than for booking:

  1. Najaf International Airport (NJF), Najaf, Iraq
  2. Basra International Airport (BSR), Basra, Iraq
  3. Sulaymaniyah Airport (ISU), Sulaymaniyah, Iraq
  4. Mosul International Airport (OSM), Mosul, Iraq, reopened in 2024 after reconstruction

At the hub airports you are handled through the business aviation terminal, where there are no queues and arriving thirty minutes before departure is enough. Amman, Istanbul, Doha and Dubai each have one, and our consultants can tell you which handler meets you at which.

Types of flights

Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:

  1. private flights;
  2. corporate flights;
  3. business class flights;
  4. concert tours;
  5. medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
  6. tourist flights for large and small groups;
  7. sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
  8. combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
  9. exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
  10. cargo flights, etc.

A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). But to be sure, we recommend you send a request at least 2-5 days before the desired date of departure.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Amman). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1400 to 7100 euros (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Helicopters here work the approaches: the British departure field, and the transfers around the hub cities while an onward flight is arranged. These are the legs we book most:

London home counties to Luton or Farnborough
the pick-up that starts an early eastbound departure without the M25
15 to 25 minutes
Amman to the Dead Sea resorts
the descent to the shore, a slow drive on a winding road
about 20 minutes
Amman to Aqaba
the Red Sea end of the country, five hours by road
about 55 minutes
Dubai to Abu Dhabi
between two Gulf appointments when the onward departure is from the other emirate
30 to 40 minutes
Istanbul airport to the European side
Levent, Besiktas and the Bosphorus hotels, against an hour or more in traffic
about 15 minutes

The machines that work these routes

– Airbus H125 and Bell 407, the light singles behind most private transfers in the London area and precise into a confined site;

– Airbus H130 and Bell 429 for a family or a party of six, the usual choice on the Jordanian legs;

– Airbus H145 and AgustaWestland AW139 where twin engines are wanted over water or for a larger group, which on the Dubai to Abu Dhabi run is what most clients ask for.

Two points on rotary legs here

– None of these legs cross into Iraq. The bulletin covers the Baghdad flight information region at every altitude, and a helicopter has no way around an all-levels restriction;

– Desert heat in Jordan and the Gulf cuts what a helicopter can lift through the middle of the day, so morning and evening slots are the ones worth asking for between May and September.

Private jet flights to Iraq - frequently asked questions

1Can I charter a private jet to Baghdad or Erbil in 2026?

Not through a British operator at the moment. The current European bulletin for Iraq, issued on 8 July 2026, advises operators not to fly in the Baghdad flight information region at any altitude, and insurers follow it. The airports themselves are open and served daily by Turkish, Qatari, Emirati and Jordanian carriers, so the route in is a charter to one of those hubs and a scheduled flight onward.

2The airports are working. Why does that not settle it?

Because the restriction applies to the operator rather than the airfield. A regional carrier flies under its own regulator and its own risk assessment; a British-arranged charter answers to European guidance, which currently covers the whole airspace at every altitude. Until that is narrowed again, the two answers stay different.

3Has this changed recently?

Yes, and it may change again. The earlier version of the same bulletin restricted only the levels below flight level 320, which left overflight possible. The July 2026 revision extended it to all altitudes. Iraq is reviewed on a timescale of weeks, so the answer here can look different a month from now.

4How much does a flight towards Iraq cost?

From about 19,500 EUR one way from London to Istanbul and from about 32,800 EUR to Amman, rising to roughly 53,200 EUR for Doha and 56,100 EUR for Dubai. Each figure buys the whole aircraft. The onward flight into Iraq is a scheduled service booked separately.

5Which hub is closest?

Amman, at 427 nautical miles from Baghdad and 480 from Erbil, with the shortest onward leg of the four. Istanbul suits the north at 772 nautical miles from Erbil. Doha and Dubai are the natural approach to the south, at 380 and 523 nautical miles from Basra respectively.
