Hire a Private Jet to Monte Carlo, Monaco

Monte Carlo and the Principality of Monaco are among the most celebrated private aviation destinations in Europe, a compact sovereign microstate of less than 2 square kilometres on the French Riviera that generates a disproportionately high volume of private jet traffic year-round: the Monaco Grand Prix in May, the Monte-Carlo Rally in January, the Formula E Monaco ePrix, the Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament, the MIPIM and MIPCOM property and media conferences, and a resident and visitor population of extraordinary wealth that makes private aviation the natural mode of travel for arrivals and departures at every time of year. Monaco has no commercial airport of its own. Private jet clients arrive at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE / LFMN), 19 km west of Monte Carlo, or at Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ / LFMD), 39 km to the west, and transfer to Monaco by helicopter (7 minutes from Nice) or chauffeured car (approximately 20 to 30 minutes from Nice). The London to Nice sector is 562 nautical miles, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes - one of the shorter and most accessible private aviation routes in Europe from the UK.

private jet charter Monte Carlo France

Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE / LFMN) is the primary gateway for Monaco by private jet, located approximately 19 km west of Monte Carlo. The airport has two runways and a dedicated private aviation terminal - the Signature Flight Support FBO - providing VIP lounge facilities, separate handling and direct ramp access. Helicopter service from Nice Airport to the Monaco Heliport in the Fontvieille district takes approximately 7 minutes and is operated by Monacair and Heli Air Monaco on a scheduled and on-demand basis. By road, Nice Airport to Monte Carlo is approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ / LFMD), 39 km west of Monaco, is an alternative particularly for light jets that benefit from Cannes' quieter traffic and shorter runway handling environment. For your ultimate comfort, we arrange helicopter connections from Nice Airport directly to the Monaco Heliport as part of every Monaco charter.

Key Information:

  • Typical flight time from London to Nice (gateway for Monaco): approximately 1 hour 40 minutes;
  • Private jet charter prices: from 5,200 EUR (light jet) to 15,000 EUR (large jet) London to Nice;
  • Primary airport: Nice Cote d'Azur (NCE / LFMN), 19 km from Monaco, helicopter 7 minutes;
  • Alternative airport: Cannes Mandelieu (CEQ / LFMD), 39 km from Monaco;
  • Helicopter Nice to Monaco Heliport (Fontvieille): approximately 7 minutes;
  • Road transfer Nice Airport to Monte Carlo: approximately 20 to 30 minutes;
  • Most popular aircraft: Citation XLS+, Phenom 300, Challenger 300;
  • Peak demand: Monaco Grand Prix (May), Monte-Carlo Rally (January), Formula 1 season and MIPIM (March).

Monaco draws private aviation clients for an exceptionally diverse range of reasons. The Monaco Grand Prix weekend in late May is the single highest-demand period - a week in which every hotel room in Monaco and along the Riviera is booked years in advance, private jet slots at Nice become extremely competitive, and helicopter availability is fully committed. Year-round, Monaco's status as a low-tax jurisdiction and the location of choice for high-net-worth individuals from across Europe generates consistent corporate and private air traffic. The Monte-Carlo Rally in January, the Masters Series tennis in April, the Formula E ePrix, MIPIM (the world's leading property conference, held in nearby Cannes every March) and MIPCOM (the television content market in October) all generate concentrated demand spikes. The superyacht scene in the Port Hercule and Port de Fontvieille marinas, the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the luxury retail and hotel infrastructure of the principality attract a year-round leisure and lifestyle clientele for whom private aviation is the standard mode of arrival.

Private jet charter prices to Monaco via Nice start from approximately 5,200 EUR for a light jet from London and from approximately 9,500 EUR for a midsize jet. The short sector of 562 nautical miles means the flight itself is under two hours, but the helicopter connection from Nice adds approximately 7 minutes of air time and should be arranged in advance, particularly during peak periods.

Private Jets UK provides access to more than 6500 aircraft worldwide, including light jets, midsize aircraft, heavy jets and ultra long-range business aircraft. Available aircraft include models from Gulfstream, Dassault, Bombardier, Embraer, Cessna, Pilatus, Beechcraft, Airbus and Boeing.

Hire a Private Jet to Monte Carlo

With more than 15 years of experience in business aviation, we arrange private jet charter flights to Monaco and across the French Riviera from airports across the United Kingdom. Our team manages every stage of the journey, including aircraft sourcing, flight planning, Nice FBO arrangements, helicopter connections to Monaco Heliport and ground transfers.

Availability on private jet routes to Monaco via Nice peaks sharply around the Grand Prix weekend in late May, when we recommend booking both the aircraft and the Nice-Monaco helicopter connection at least 6 to 8 weeks in advance. For all other periods, the short sector from UK airports means good aircraft availability and competitive pricing throughout the year.

Prices for the private jet flights to Monte Carlo / Monaco

The London to Nice sector of 562 nautical miles is one of the most efficient private jet routes from the UK. It is comfortably within non-stop range of even the smallest light jets, and the short flight time of under two hours means that almost any aircraft category is a practical choice. The sector is so short that positioning costs - the aircraft flying empty to meet you at your UK departure airport - often represent a significant proportion of the total charter cost, and we check available aircraft positioning in the UK and Europe before sending quotes to minimise these.

The key operational distinction from most European destinations is the helicopter connection. Nice Airport is 19 km from Monte Carlo centre and approximately 20 to 30 minutes by road. The helicopter from Nice Airport to the Monaco Heliport in Fontvieille takes 7 minutes and costs approximately 150 to 200 EUR per person on a scheduled service, or we can arrange a private helicopter charter. During the Grand Prix weekend, helicopter slots between Nice and Monaco are extremely limited and should be booked at the same time as the jet - we manage both as a single coordinated booking.

An alternative for clients not requiring the helicopter is to use Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ / LFMD) as the arrival point. Cannes is 39 km from Monaco - approximately 40 to 50 minutes by road - but is significantly quieter than Nice during peak periods and has a more relaxed FBO environment. For small groups arriving in a light jet, Cannes can be an attractive option during Grand Prix week when Nice operates at near capacity.

Below are the approximate prices for the flights performed this year. TOP 7 options:

Airports serving Monaco

Monaco has no airport of its own. Private jet arrivals use one of the following:

  • Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE) - Nice, France (NCE / LFMN) - 19 km from Monaco, helicopter 7 min - PRIMARY GATEWAY
  • Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ) - Cannes, France (CEQ / LFMD) - 39 km from Monaco, road ~50 min - quieter alternative

Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (IATA: NCE, ICAO: LFMN) is the main international airport of the French Riviera, located approximately 7 km west of Nice city centre and 19 km from Monaco. Two runways serve commercial and private aviation. Private jets use the Signature Flight Support FBO on the south side of the airport, with a dedicated VIP lounge, direct ramp access and efficient handling. The helicopter service to Monaco Heliport (Heliport de Monaco, Fontvieille) is the standard transfer for private jet clients: Monacair and Heli Air Monaco operate scheduled and on-demand services taking approximately 7 minutes. UK citizens do not require a visa for Monaco or France for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

Private Jets UK clients have access to the top private helicopters. Monaco is one of the most helicopter-intensive destinations in Europe: the principality has its own heliport (Heliport de Monaco, Fontvieille), and helicopter transfers from Nice Airport are the standard arrival procedure for all private jet clients. Beyond the airport transfer, helicopters are widely used across the French Riviera for inter-destination connections - Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Courchevel in ski season, and the superyacht berths along the coast are all routinely served by helicopter from Monaco.

Key heliports and helicopter routes from Monaco:

Flying to Monaco with your pet

Pets can travel in the cabin on private jets throughout the flight. Monaco is an enclave within France and applies EU pet entry rules for travellers arriving from the UK. Requirements for UK-originating pets entering Monaco via France:

  • EU Animal Health Certificate (AHC) issued by a UK government-authorised veterinarian;
  • Microchip (ISO 11784/11785 compliant);
  • Valid rabies vaccination, administered at least 21 days before travel;
  • Tapeworm treatment for dogs, administered 24 to 120 hours before arrival in France / Monaco.

Our team advises on documentation requirements as part of every pet-inclusive booking. Given that the jet lands in France (Nice or Cannes) before transfer to Monaco, French / EU pet entry rules apply at the point of landing.

Monte Carlo private jet charter - FAQ

Does Monaco have its own airport?
No. Monaco has no airport for fixed-wing aircraft. All private jet clients arrive at Nice Cote d'Azur Airport (NCE / LFMN), 19 km from Monaco, or at Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ / LFMD), 39 km west, and transfer by helicopter (7 minutes from Nice) or chauffeured car (20 to 30 minutes from Nice). Monaco does have a heliport - the Heliport de Monaco in the Fontvieille district - which serves helicopter arrivals only.

How long is a private jet flight from London to Monaco?
The London to Nice sector is 562 nautical miles, approximately 1 hour 40 minutes by Citation XLS+. The helicopter from Nice Airport to Monaco Heliport takes approximately 7 minutes. Total door-to-door time from central London to Monte Carlo is typically 2.5 to 3 hours.

How much does a private jet to Monaco cost?
Prices from London start from approximately 7,500 EUR for a light jet to Nice, and from approximately 9,500 EUR for a midsize jet. From Edinburgh and Manchester, midsize jet prices start from approximately 11,000 to 18,500 EUR. During the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, prices are typically 20 to 30% higher. The helicopter transfer from Nice to Monaco costs approximately 150 to 200 EUR per person on a scheduled service.

How do I get from Nice Airport to Monaco?
The fastest option is helicopter: Monacair and Heli Air Monaco operate the 7-minute service from Nice Airport to Monaco Heliport on both scheduled and private charter basis. By chauffeured car the transfer takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes in normal traffic. We coordinate the helicopter transfer as part of every Monaco charter booking.

How far in advance do I need to book for the Monaco Grand Prix?
For Grand Prix weekend (late May), we recommend booking both the aircraft and the helicopter transfer at minimum 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Nice Airport slots and Monaco helicopter availability are both heavily committed during Grand Prix week. For all other periods, standard lead times of 48 hours to 2 weeks are sufficient.

Is Cannes a better option than Nice during the Grand Prix?
Cannes Mandelieu Airport (CEQ) is a practical alternative during Grand Prix week when Nice is at near capacity. Cannes is 39 km from Monaco - approximately 40 to 50 minutes by road - and has a significantly quieter FBO environment during peak periods. For light jet arrivals in particular, Cannes offers more availability and a more relaxed handling experience than Nice during the busiest events.

Do UK citizens need a visa for Monaco?
No. UK citizens do not require a visa for Monaco or France for stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. A valid UK passport is required.

Monte Carlo and Monaco - destination overview

Monaco is the world's second smallest sovereign state by area and its most densely populated, a constitutional monarchy of less than 2 square kilometres squeezed between the French Alps and the Mediterranean on the Cote d'Azur. The principality's fame rests on three pillars that have remained constant for more than a century: gambling, motor racing and tax. The Casino de Monte-Carlo, opened in 1863 by Charles III to rescue the principality's finances, set Monaco's identity as a destination of extravagance and risk for the European aristocracy and wealthy classes. The Monaco Grand Prix, which has run through the streets of the principality every May since 1929 (with wartime interruptions), is the oldest and most prestigious event on the Formula 1 calendar and the one that most drivers cite as the single race they most want to win. And Monaco's status as a low or zero-tax jurisdiction for residents has attracted a concentration of high-net-worth individuals - financial traders, entertainers, sportspeople and business owners - that gives the principality the highest per-capita income in the world.

private jet Monte Carlo skyline evening

The geography is extraordinary: Monaco is built vertically, on a series of cliffs and terraces rising from the sea, with the historic rock of Monaco-Ville (the old town, site of the Prince's Palace and the Oceanographic Museum) at one end, the casino district of Monte Carlo in the centre, and the newer districts of Fontvieille and La Condamine occupying reclaimed land at the base of the cliffs. The principality is surrounded on three sides by France and on one side by the Mediterranean, and is connected to Nice and the rest of the Cote d'Azur by the Basse Corniche road that runs along the waterfront.

Port Hercule, Monaco's main harbour, is one of the most concentrated superyacht berths in the world - during the Grand Prix, the boats moored in the harbour with grandstand views of the harbour chicane represent some of the largest and most expensive yachts afloat. The Monaco Yacht Show in September is the world's leading superyacht show, with vessels of 30 to 100+ metres on display and available for charter. The overlap between the superyacht, private aviation and Monaco clientele is almost complete.

Where to stay in Monaco - hotels

Monaco has a concentrated luxury hotel scene in which virtually every property operates at the five-star level. A selection of the key properties:

  • Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo - the original grand hotel of Monaco, directly on the Casino Square opposite the Casino de Monte-Carlo, operated by the Societe des Bains de Mer (SBM) which runs the casino and most of Monaco's luxury hospitality. Suites overlooking the Square are among the most expensive rooms in Europe during the Grand Prix. Around 35 minutes from Nice Airport by car.
  • Hotel Hermitage Monte-Carlo - SBM's historic Belle Epoque property, slightly more residential in character than the Hotel de Paris, with a celebrated restaurant and garden terrace. Around 35 minutes from Nice Airport.
  • Fairmont Monte Carlo - the only hotel in Monaco directly on the Grand Prix circuit, with a distinctive bridge over the track and suites that look directly down at the Fairmont Hairpin corner. Extremely difficult to book for Grand Prix week. Around 30 minutes from Nice Airport.
  • Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort - a contemporary resort property on the eastern edge of Monaco bordering France, with a private beach, lagoon pool and a more relaxed atmosphere than the casino district properties. Around 30 minutes from Nice Airport.
  • Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo - a grand hotel on Avenue de la Madone with an exceptional spa and Karl Lagerfeld-designed pool. Around 30 minutes from Nice Airport.

Note that during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, all Monaco hotels are typically sold out 12 to 18 months in advance at three to five times normal rates. Our team can advise on Nice and Antibes alternatives for Grand Prix week clients who book late.
