Private jet charter in Palm Beach
Most London clients who ask for Palm Beach already have a house, a club or a season in mind, and the jet only has to deliver them to it without fuss. Private Jets UK charters the aircraft that the crossing demands and the airfield that suits the passengers. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Palm Beach International lies only a few kilometres from the island, which makes it the obvious choice, yet four other airfields sit within an hour's drive and the right one depends on customs hours, on the length of the runway and on whether the President is in residence at Mar-a-Lago.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Palm Beach depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. On a sector of almost four thousand nautical miles the choice between a nonstop long-range cabin and a large-cabin jet with a stop in the Azores moves the price more than any other item. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Challenger 605 with one stop in the Azores and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Palm Beach?
A Global 6000 flies the nonstop sector from Farnborough to Palm Beach in about 8 h 45 min, and flights from Scotland and the north of England take a little less. The routed distance to Palm Beach International runs from 3,764 to 3,966 nautical miles depending on the British field, against a published range of 6,000 nautical miles for the Global 6000, so the long-range cabins have margin even with a westbound headwind. Large-cabin jets of the next class down are a different matter. A Challenger 350 is published at 3,200 nautical miles, short of the distance, and the Challenger 604, whose figures the 605 is said to match, at about 4,000, which a headwind and the fuel reserve also use up. These aircraft fly the route in two legs with a stop at Santa Maria in the Azores. Palm Beach keeps Eastern time, five hours behind Britain for most of the year, so a departure from London at nine in the morning lands at about one in the afternoon local time. The times below assume the headwind that the North Atlantic normally supplies on the way west. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
The airport is the short part of the day. Palm Beach International lies about 6 km from the island in a straight line, and from the terminal to a house on the ocean side the drive crosses one of the three bridges over the Intracoastal Waterway and takes a matter of minutes. The long part is the air. A client who leaves Farnborough after breakfast spends 8 h 45 min aloft, gains five hours on the clock and sits down to a late lunch with the whole afternoon still ahead. Coming home the sums run the other way. The eastbound crossing takes about 7 h 25 min with the wind behind, but it is usually flown overnight, so the party lands in Britain the next morning after a night in a seat and not in a bed.
Nonstop or one stop: the question that decides the aircraft
– A Global, Gulfstream or similar long-range jet flies London to Palm Beach in one go and is the answer for most parties of five or more, for anyone who wants to sleep, and for anyone who dislikes a stop in mid-ocean;
– A large-cabin jet of the Challenger 605 class stops once, normally in the Azores, because a published range of about 4,000 nautical miles on a sector of roughly 3,900 leaves nothing for the wind. From Biggin Hill the two legs are 1,429 and 2,943 nautical miles, the stop takes about an hour on the ground and the saving over a long-range jet is large. A Challenger 350 would be at the edge of its range even on the second leg, so we do not offer it on this route;
– Light jets and turboprops do not cross the Atlantic from Britain as a rule. If the trip needs a light jet or a King Air in Florida or the Bahamas, the crossing is done by a larger aircraft and the smaller one is booked locally for the onward legs.

Prices for the private jet flights to Palm Beach
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into the business aviation terminals at Palm Beach International. The polo and horse-show weeks, the boat show in March and the other busy weeks of the winter sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Palm Beach is the classic gateway to the Bahamas, and the islands are closer than most people expect. Freeport is a hop of about half an hour, Nassau a little more, Miami and Key West are short flights down the coast, and New York is a morning away. The way home is the same crossing as the way out, with the wind on the tail. Typical one-way prices:

Why the short legs are the cheap part
A winter in Palm Beach is usually priced as one long crossing and a handful of short hops, and the hops cost a fraction of the crossing. A flight to Freeport in a Citation M2 starts at £4,850, against £107,250 for the Atlantic leg in a Global 6000 from Farnborough, so a weekend on the islands barely changes the total. The sensible way to plan it is to book the large aircraft for the ocean and ask us to quote the regional aircraft separately, since a light jet based in Florida will almost always beat a long-range jet kept on the apron for a week.
Before you accept a Florida or Bahamas onward quote
– Who is allowed to fly it. The United States treats a charter between two American points as a domestic job. A non-US aircraft may carry passengers between two US points only if they arrived on it from abroad or are leaving on it for abroad, so the jet that brought you from London can take you on to the Bahamas and back, while a hop from Palm Beach to Miami for another party is normally flown by a US-registered aircraft. Each US leg flown by a foreign aircraft also needs its own permit to proceed from customs;
– Coming back from the islands. A flight from the Bahamas into Palm Beach is a fresh international arrival, with a fresh border check and a fresh permission to land. At Palm Beach International the pilot has to ask the border service for that permission at least four hours before leaving the foreign airfield, so a late departure from Nassau needs the request made in the morning. The Bahamas have their own landing and customs rules, and we build them into the same plan.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for the Palm Beach run:
Long-range jets, and where most bookings land
The aircraft built for this crossing. Each of them is planned to fly from London to Palm Beach without stopping, and the nonstop prices above are built on them.
Large-cabin jets, with a stop in the Azores
The cheaper crossing for a party of up to eight with ordinary luggage and an extra hour of patience. Some types in this class manage longer sectors in good winds, and we confirm with the operator whether a stop is needed for your date and load.
Midsize and light, for Florida and the islands
Not for the Atlantic, but the right aircraft once you are there: Freeport, Nassau and Exuma are each less than an hour from Palm Beach.
Turboprops
The short-hop option for Miami, the Keys and the smaller island strips, where a jet is more aircraft than the distance needs.
Helicopters
For the last stretch and not for the crossing: a transfer from the airport to a waterfront address or to the horse and polo grounds in Wellington. A landing site outside an aerodrome is agreed before the quote, so the request goes in early.

This is a small part of what is available. Aircraft that can cross the Atlantic are fewer than the ones that serve Europe, and their positions change daily, so a long-range jet already waiting in London is often cheaper than one that must first be brought over from North America. Palm Beach works the other way round in winter, when many American aircraft are based in Florida for the season, and a jet that is going home across the ocean anyway can sometimes be had on better terms for the eastbound leg.

Business aviation airports in Palm Beach
Palm Beach County has one airport that takes every long-range jet and several smaller fields that take only some, and the neighbouring counties add a few more. The list below runs from the island outwards, so the first line is the default and the rest are the alternatives, each for a stated reason.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Palm Beach International, West Palm Beach PBI, FAA identifier KDJT |
The default for any business jet and the airport the prices on this page are built on, about 6 km from the island and three miles west of West Palm Beach. The main runway is 10,001 ft (3,048 m) with a second of 6,931 ft and a short third, so no long-range jet is restricted. Four handlers share the field: Atlantic Aviation, Jet Aviation Palm Beach, and Signature Aviation with a North and a South base. It is an international airport of entry. Noise rules are in force, with multiengine flight training banned from sunset to sunrise, and the airport carries a presidential name and the FAA identifier KDJT since its renaming, so the flight plan and the handling request should use the identifier the handler confirms |
| Palm Beach County Park, Lantana LNA / KLNA |
A general aviation field about 13 km from the island and six miles south of West Palm Beach, with three short runways of 3,489, 3,421 and 3,256 ft (1,063, 1,043 and 992 m). It has no control tower, with the airport attended from 08:00 to 18:30, and one handler, Stellar Aviation. No customs is listed. It suits piston aircraft and some turboprops and is not an option for a jet, which makes it a place to leave a smaller aircraft rather than to arrive from abroad. The field is noise sensitive, with runway 4/22 the preferred one |
| Boca Raton BCT / KBCT |
A business aviation field about 37 km south of the island, with a single runway of 6,276 ft (1,913 m) that has arrester beds at both ends and a control tower open 07:00 to 23:00. Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation are the handlers. Customs is a user fee service, listed Thursday to Monday from 10:30 to 18:30, and other hours need approval and an added fee. A voluntary curfew applies from 22:00 to 07:00. A good choice for a client bound for Boca Raton, Delray Beach or the southern end of the county, on the right days of the week |
| Stuart, Witham Field SUA / KSUA |
A county airport about 56 km north of the island, with a main runway of 5,828 ft (1,776 m) and a tower open 07:00 to 22:00. APP Jet Center and Atlantic Aviation are the handlers, and the jet centre is next to the customs facility, which is a user fee service. Operations by older, noisier jets (Stage 1 and 2) are strongly discouraged from 23:00 to 08:00. Useful for Jupiter Island, Hobe Sound and the Treasure Coast, and for a party that wants to avoid the traffic of West Palm Beach |
| Fort Lauderdale Executive FXE / KFXE |
A business field about 58 km south of the island, with a main runway of 6,002 ft (1,829 m) that suits light and midsize jets best, while the heaviest long-range loads may prefer a longer runway. Banyan Air Service and W Aviation advertise round-the-clock service, with Signature Aviation and Atlantic Aviation also on the field. Customs is open 08:00 to 23:59, and the customs ramp is closed to arrivals from midnight to 08:00. The usual alternative when customs hours or a restricted airspace rule shut out Palm Beach |
| Miami Opa-locka OPF / KOPF |
A major business aviation field in South Florida, about 92 km south of the island, with a main runway of 8,002 ft (2,439 m) and five handlers. Border officers are listed as available from 09:00 to 24:00 every day. Chosen when the party is bound for Miami and Palm Beach is only a stop on the way, or when Palm Beach International cannot take the aircraft on the day |
| Santa Maria, Azores SMA / LPAZ |
Not a Palm Beach airport at all but the usual fuel stop on the way out for a large-cabin jet that cannot fly the whole distance. The runway is 3,048 m (10,000 ft) long, and the airfield has long been a hub for transatlantic flights. Handling, fuel and the stop time are arranged by the operator, and we plan a turn of about an hour |
When the President stays at Mar-a-Lago
The airspace around the estate is restricted when the President is in residence. A temporary flight restriction covers a radius of about 30 nautical miles, it limits flights and air operations across the Palm Beach area, and smaller fields such as Lantana have at times been closed during a visit. The restriction comes and goes with the President's diary, so it cannot be put in a table. Palm Beach International remains the airport for the area, but arrival slots, parking and the hours at which a flight can leave can all tighten. We ask the handler about the position for your dates before the quote is finalised, and we keep Fort Lauderdale Executive and Boca Raton ready as the alternatives.
Four details decide most Palm Beach arrivals:
Choose the handler
Palm Beach International has four bases and Boca Raton two, with different fees, lounges and car access. The party for a private house in Palm Beach and the party for a yacht at the West Palm Beach marinas may well prefer different ones. We put the choice in writing, and the handler's name goes on the transfer order, since a driver told only Palm Beach International can wait at the wrong door.
Hours and customs
In the summary we work from, the border service lists arrival inspections at Palm Beach International from 09:00 to 19:00 every day, and the pilot has to secure permission to land at least four hours before leaving the foreign airport, with 30 minutes of tolerance either way. Boca Raton lists customs on Thursday to Monday, with other days by request for a fee, and Fort Lauderdale Executive shuts its customs ramp from midnight to 08:00. Hours change, so we confirm them for your date, and an evening arrival is often settled by them before anyone looks at the hotel.
Border and passport
British citizens travel on an ESTA and a valid passport, and the aircraft's crew and passenger details are filed with the US border service before departure from Britain. At Palm Beach International the party is cleared at a federal inspection building on the ramp that stands apart from the handlers, and we and the handler arrange it beforehand. Details are in the border section below.
Car and the bridges
The island is joined to the mainland by three bridges, and the one a driver chooses decides the last ten minutes. A car from the terminal is the normal plan, and we book it with the handler so the driver is waiting at the right door. In the winter season, and on the days of the boat show and the big charity dinners, allow extra time.

Border, passport and US customs
The United States is not in the Schengen area or any shared travel zone with Britain, and every passenger is inspected by US Customs and Border Protection on arrival. British citizens can enter under the Visa Waiver Programme with an approved ESTA for a stay of up to 90 days for business or tourism, and the passport has to be valid for the length of the stay. An approved ESTA does not decide admission: the officer at the terminal does. It can be refused or may not be enough in some cases, for example after an arrest, even without a conviction, after an earlier overstay, or for business done on behalf of a US company, and anyone in doubt applies for a visa instead, which takes longer. Apply for the ESTA well before the day, through the official site only. On a private aircraft the ESTA normally works only if the operator holds Visa Waiver Program carrier status, which we check before we quote.

The aircraft has its own list of steps, which the operator and the handler carry out. The pilot in command files the passenger and crew manifest through the CBP electronic system, no later than 60 minutes before departure from Britain, and must have the approval from the US authorities before the aircraft leaves. Approval of the manifest is not the same as permission to land: the pilot also secures landing rights from the CBP office at the airport. The summary of Palm Beach International that we work from asks the pilot to apply at least four hours before leaving the foreign airport, with a tolerance of 30 minutes, and sends the aircraft to the ramp beside the federal inspection building, which is not attached to any handler's terminal. Everyone and every bag goes through that building, with passports, the pilot's licence, the aircraft registration and the crew documents shown, and the party can leave directly from it once inspected. We confirm the procedure with the operator for each trip, because the hours and the rules change and a booking has to follow the text in force.
The airports around Palm Beach do not keep the same hours. Palm Beach International lists inspections from 09:00 to 19:00 daily, Fort Lauderdale Executive from 08:00 to 23:59, Opa-locka from 09:00 to 24:00, and Boca Raton from 10:30 to 18:30 from Thursday to Monday, with out-of-hours clearance available there on request for an added fee. A late evening arrival is the case that shapes the choice of airport, and it is better raised in the first call than on the day.
Coming back into Britain brings its own paperwork. British and Irish citizens need no permission to enter, and most other visitors who need no visa still need a UK electronic travel authorisation. The aircraft is covered by a General Aviation Report, filed with the UK authorities between 48 hours and two hours before departure from Florida. A mistake is expensive: £2,500 for a first landing at an aerodrome that is not a regulated one, and £2,000 for every passenger carried without permission. The operator and the handler file the report, and we check that it has gone in.
From the apron to Worth Avenue
Palm Beach is an eighteen-mile island with a town of about nine thousand year-round residents on it, and it is the mainland airports, bridges and country roads that decide the journey. The figures below are straight-line distances from the middle of the island, which understate the drive but show the order of things.
about 6 km, the closest airport by far, with three bridges over the waterway to choose fromby road
about 13 km to the south, for a light aircraft or a turbopropby road

Flying to Palm Beach with a dog or a cat
The United States asks for little paperwork on the way in and more on the way home. The pet travels in the cabin with you, and the crossing is long enough that most dogs sleep through it. What matters is the timing of three documents: the CDC import receipt for a dog, the rabies record that Florida wants to see, and the certificate for the return to Britain, which has a short life.

What the two countries ask for:
- For a dog, a CDC Dog Import Form receipt, which is free and covers one dog. The United Kingdom is not on the CDC list of countries at high risk for dog rabies, so the lighter rules apply: the dog must look healthy on arrival, be at least six months old and carry a microchip that a universal scanner can read. A dog from such a country may enter through any port of entry, so Palm Beach International, Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale Executive all work;
- Florida asks for proof of a current rabies vaccination for any dog or cat of three months and older. Its health certificate requirement does not apply to a privately owned pet travelling with its owner;
- For the return to Britain, the United States is a "part 2" listed country: a Great Britain pet health certificate completed by an official vet and dated in the ten days before arrival, with a pet passport or animal health certificate not accepted. The rabies vaccination must be at least 21 days old, and the microchip must have been fitted before or at the same time as the vaccine. The official text lists no blood test for these countries;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. Cats are exempt. No more than five animals per traveller.
What catches owners out on the Palm Beach run
– The certificate for the way home has to be dated inside ten days of arrival, so a winter of two months means a vet visit in Florida close to the date of departure, and the tapeworm treatment has its own window of 24 to 120 hours before landing. Book both before you leave Britain;
– A dog under six months old cannot enter under the CDC rule, so a puppy is a reason to move the trip and not the paperwork;
– A side trip to the Bahamas has its own import rules for animals, and the return from the islands is a second US entry. Settle that with us before the booking, and keep the animal's papers with the passports.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken. We also confirm in writing the entry point and the paperwork for the animal on the way back into Britain.
The Palm Beach calendar: a winter season, a boat show and a hurricane season
Palm Beach runs on a winter season that begins in November and ends in April, when the island's population swells to about 25,000 from fewer than ten thousand. Inside it sit the horse shows, the polo, the golf and the boat show, and the weather has the rest of the year to itself. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a season week costs more
The flight itself costs what it always does. The long-range fleet that can cross the Atlantic is much smaller than the Europe-only fleet, and the aircraft that suit Palm Beach are wanted on the same days from New York and the rest of Europe. What tightens is parking at the handlers, the better cars and the crew duty hours. A booking made a fortnight before a polo final or the boat show can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft brought across the ocean empty. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside the season a crossing can usually be arranged within a few days.
Ways to bring the Palm Beach price down
- Pick the aircraft for the ocean, not for the cabin photographs. A Challenger 605 with a stop in the Azores costs noticeably less than a long-range jet and takes about two hours longer in the air, plus the ground time; for four people that is a fair trade;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A long-range jet coming from London needs less positioning than one coming from Dubai or the American west coast, and on a transatlantic sector positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Be flexible by a day or two. A flight that avoids the polo final and the boat show is easier to price, and a return that fits an empty leg is cheaper than a fresh charter.
Types of flights
Palm Beach produces its own mix of trips, because it is a winter home, a horse country, a golf county and the nearest American launch point for the Bahamas at the same time.
- Winter stays from Britain, to a house on the island, a hotel or a club, often for weeks at a time and often with a dog;
- Equestrian and polo families, who fly to Wellington for the show-jumping circuit or the polo season, usually at weekends and often at short notice;
- Yacht links, because the boat show and the superyacht marinas at West Palm Beach pull in owners, captains and brokers on short notice;
- Golf and charity weeks around the Cognizant Classic and the dinners of the season, with small delegations and fixed dates;
- Onward hops to Freeport, Nassau and Exuma, using Palm Beach as the American end of a Bahamas trip, and to Miami, Key West and New York.
One-way or return deserves a second look. Over this distance a return within the week is priced as two separate sectors plus the crew's rest and hotel in Florida, so we quote both versions. For a short stay, keeping the aircraft in Florida and flying home on the third day usually beats flying it back empty and fetching it again, while after a week or more two one-way charters are simpler than a jet standing idle.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight that nobody is paying for, offered to a passenger at a fraction of the normal price. In Palm Beach the supply follows the winter season more than the volume of traffic, and it helps to know where it comes from.
Where Palm Beach empty legs come from
– The end of the season. Aircraft that brought a party in for the polo or the boat show leave empty a day or two later, and the northbound and eastbound sectors both appear in the days after the big weeks;
– Transatlantic positioning. A long-range jet that has taken a party from London to Palm Beach often has to return, and that empty crossing is the one most worth looking for;
– Florida rotation. Aircraft based in the state and in the north-east move between Palm Beach, Miami and New York, and the short legs between them can be cheap.
The long-range fleet is small, so a client who can offer three days stands a much better chance than one who needs a particular evening. The price of the discount is control: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can disappear when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Palm Beach match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
On Palm Beach a helicopter is a tool for the water and the last mile, and not for the long haul. The island is narrow and densely built, so landing sites in the built-up area are few, and most helicopter work starts at an airport or a prepared helipad. The restrictions around Mar-a-Lago apply to helicopters as much as to jets.
a straight-line distance of about 6 km, which is a few minutes by air, though a car crossing a bridge is usually quicker door to dooron request
about 17 km west to the polo and horse grounds, a way around the road traffic on a show weekend once the landing site is agreedon request
50 nautical miles down the coast, for an address in Miami or on the wateron request
163 nautical miles down the island chain, a scenic day tripon request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A club, a marina or a private property needs its landing status and the owner's consent confirmed before the quote, not after;
– Weather sets the schedule. Summer thunderstorms and tropical systems can ground a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a coastal transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Over open water towards the Bahamas the sensible minimum is a twin-engine machine, and we do not quote a single-engine helicopter for it. For the horse and polo weekends, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
For scenic work the usual choice is the Airbus H125, for villa and marina transfers the roomier H130, and where a twin is wanted the H135 or the Bell 429. We book the helicopter alongside the jet, so that both crews follow one timetable.

Palm Beach charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
NONSTOP · THE LONG-RANGE CABIN
Six people and a house on the ocean side
Farnborough - Palm Beach International, Bombardier Global 6000, about 8 h 45 min · 6 pax
A family party leaving mid-morning and landing for a late lunch, with a rented house on the island waiting. The reason for the larger cabin was less the seats than the luggage and the wish to cross without a stop. The party cleared the border at the federal inspection building on the ramp, and the car was waiting at the handler's door.
AZORES STOP · THE SENSIBLE COMPROMISE
Four people, a Challenger and an hour on Santa Maria
Biggin Hill - Palm Beach International, Bombardier Challenger 605, about 10 h 40 min plus a stop · 4 pax
A smaller party that wanted to keep the budget down. The aircraft cannot fly the whole distance against the usual westbound wind, so the quote included a stop in the Azores, a turn of about an hour with fuel and a stretch of the legs. The saving over a long-range jet was large enough that nobody argued about the extra hours.
POLO WEEKEND · FIXED DATES
A group for the final in Wellington
London Luton - Palm Beach International, Gulfstream G550, about 8 h 45 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the tournament and not by the client. Eight people, tight schedules and a request for a quiet arrival. The booking went in six weeks ahead, the handler had the cars ready for the drive west to Wellington, and the return was booked at the same time, which kept the aircraft and crew on the ground in Florida for the week.
BOCA RATON · THE RIGHT AIRFIELD ON THE WRONG DAY
A client who wanted the airport nearest the house
Farnborough - Palm Beach International, Bombardier Global 6000, about 8 h 45 min · 5 pax
They had a house near Boca Raton and asked to land at the field there. Customs at that airport keeps regular hours only from Thursday to Monday, clearance on other days costs extra and has to be requested in advance, and the flight was due on a Tuesday, so we explained the trade and landed at Palm Beach International, with a car waiting at the handler. The decision took one call.
A DOG ON BOARD · TWO PIECES OF PAPER
Three adults and a labrador for a two-month winter
Edinburgh - Palm Beach International, Gulfstream G550, about 8 h 25 min · 3 pax + dog
The CDC Dog Import Form receipt was ready before departure, and the Great Britain pet health certificate for the way home had to be dated inside ten days of the return flight. The tapeworm treatment fell between 24 and 120 hours before landing in Britain. The vet appointments were booked in Florida before the family flew out, and the dog slept most of the crossing.
THE ISLANDS · A SECOND LEG
A long weekend in Nassau from the Florida end
Palm Beach - Nassau, Cessna Citation CJ3+, about 45 min · 5 pax
The party crossed the Atlantic in a long-range jet and handed over to a light jet for the islands, because it was cheaper than keeping the large aircraft on the ground in Nassau. The pilot booked the permission to land at Palm Beach for the return before leaving the Bahamas, and the party cleared the border again at the federal inspection building on arrival.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Palm Beach
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Palm Beach?
About 8 h 45 min nonstop in a Global 6000 from Farnborough, and a little less from Edinburgh or Glasgow in a Gulfstream G550. A Challenger 605 needs a stop in the Azores and takes about 10 h 40 min in the air plus an hour on the ground. The routed distance to Palm Beach International is between 3,764 and 3,966 nautical miles depending on the British airfield, and Palm Beach is five hours behind Britain for most of the year.
2How much does a private jet to Palm Beach cost?
From about £87,550 one way for a Challenger 605 from Biggin Hill with a stop in the Azores. A nonstop long-range jet starts from about £107,250 from Farnborough and £105,250 from Manchester, and a Gulfstream G550 from Edinburgh starts from about £108,600. Weeks of the winter season, the polo final and the boat show cost more, and an empty leg can cost far less. The calculator on this page gives an indicative figure for your dates.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Palm Beach?
Palm Beach International (PBI, FAA identifier KDJT) for almost every trip. It is about 6 km from the island, has a 10,001 ft main runway, four handlers and a border service listed from 09:00 to 19:00 daily. Boca Raton suits Boca Raton and Delray Beach but has regular customs hours only from Thursday to Monday, Fort Lauderdale Executive and Opa-locka are the later-hours alternatives to the south, and Lantana is too short for a jet. When the President is at Mar-a-Lago, a flight restriction of about 30 nautical miles can tighten operations, and we check it for your dates.
4Do British passengers need a visa or an ESTA to fly to Palm Beach?
British citizens need no visa for business or tourism for up to 90 days, but they need an approved ESTA and a passport valid for the length of the stay. An approved ESTA does not guarantee entry, and it may not be enough for business done on behalf of a US company or after an arrest or an earlier overstay. The pilot files the passenger manifest before departure and the border service clears the party at the federal inspection building at the airport. Apply for the ESTA through the official site only, and well ahead of the flight. On a private aircraft it normally works only if the operator holds Visa Waiver Program carrier status, which we check before we quote.
5Can I fly on from Palm Beach to the Bahamas, Miami or New York?
Yes, and a smaller aircraft is the usual choice for the second leg. Freeport is 79 nautical miles away, from £4,850 in a Citation M2, Nassau is 180 nautical miles, from £5,300 in a Citation CJ3+, and Teterboro near New York is 938 nautical miles, from £19,350 in a Citation Latitude. A foreign aircraft may carry passengers within the United States only if they arrived on it from abroad or leave on it for abroad, so some domestic legs are flown by a US-registered aircraft. Coming back from the Bahamas is a new US arrival, and the pilot must ask for permission to land at least four hours before leaving.
6Can I take my dog to Palm Beach on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you. Going out you need a CDC Dog Import Form receipt, and the dog must be at least six months old, healthy and microchipped; Florida also wants proof of a current rabies vaccination. For the return, the United States is a part 2 country: a Great Britain pet health certificate dated in the ten days before arrival, a rabies vaccine at least 21 days old, and for dogs a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before landing. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing for your dates.
