Private jet charter in Uruguay
Uruguay is the gentlest long-haul destination in South America for a private jet: one crossing of about 12 h 35 min from the south of England, then a country small enough that most of what clients want lies within an hour's flight or a morning's drive of the capital. The crossing itself needs planning, because very few cabins fly it without stopping, and in January the whole market moves towards one resort on the Atlantic coast. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Uruguay that means the overflight application to the national aviation authority, a handler at Carrasco or at Punta del Este, and a clear view of which of the two airports suits your dates.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Uruguay depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Farnborough, a Gulfstream G550 to Montevideo Carrasco, nonstop, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Uruguay?
Uruguay keeps UTC-3 all year and has no summer time, so Montevideo is three hours behind Britain in winter and four hours behind while British Summer Time runs. These are the sectors from London Farnborough on a Gulfstream G550, gate to gate:
6,146 nautical miles, the Atlantic resort and the airport where the summer private traffic landsabout 12 h 35 min
6,170 nautical miles, the capital, with the country's main international airportabout 12 h 35 min
Wheels up at breakfast, hotel by dinner
A take-off from Farnborough at 08:00 reaches Montevideo at about 16:35 local time in the British summer and at about 17:35 in winter, in time for a late dinner and a full night before the first meeting. The return runs the other way: leave Montevideo at 21:00, sleep on board, and the aircraft is on the ground in Britain at about 13:35 the next day in summer and 12:35 in winter.
More than twelve hours in the air is a long duty day for two pilots, so the operator often adds a third crew member.
The two airports are close enough that the choice hardly touches the schedule. Punta del Este is 24 nautical miles nearer to Britain than Montevideo, which saves only a few minutes in the air, so the date and the parking decide between them more than the distance does. The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet and on the wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation for the chosen business jet.

Typical private jet charter prices from Britain into Uruguay, cheapest first. The price on this page is built on Montevideo Carrasco, the capital's international airport and the one open to every kind of traffic all year. Punta del Este is slightly nearer, and from Farnborough on a G550 it is about £650 cheaper:

| Aberdeen - Montevideo Carrasco (MVD) 6,405 nm / 11,862 km |
Gulfstream G550 up to 16 |
from £179,850 |
Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Range picks the aircraft. A Gulfstream G550 is published at 6,750 nautical miles, and Farnborough to Montevideo is 6,170 on our planned track, which leaves 580 for a headwind. A Global 6000 is published at only 6,000, short of the distance, so we do not quote it, and from Aberdeen the margin on the G550 narrows to about 345 nautical miles, so we check the winds before confirming. A Global 7500 or a G650ER gives more margin at a higher price.
– The price is for the trip out; a return with the aircraft waiting in Uruguay is quoted as two sectors plus parking. In the summer weeks parking at Punta del Este is the item that moves, so the aircraft often waits at Carrasco instead.
Private jet flights within Uruguay and to its neighbours
Uruguay is small. Punta del Este is 48 nautical miles from Montevideo on our track and Colonia is 92, so the home sectors are short. The longer legs are the neighbours: Buenos Aires lies across the river, and Porto Alegre, Asunción, Santiago and São Paulo are each a short flight for a mid-size jet. These are the sectors we are asked for, flown from Montevideo:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Montevideo - Punta del Este Laguna del Sauce 48 nm / 89 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 40 min | from £3,100 |
| Montevideo - Colonia Laguna de los Patos 92 nm / 170 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 50 min | from £3,100 |
| Montevideo - Buenos Aires San Fernando 134 nm / 248 km |
Citation CJ4 Gen2 up to 8 |
about 50 min | from £5,950 |
| Montevideo - Porto Alegre (Brazil) 396 nm / 733 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 25 min | from £7,900 |
| Montevideo - Asunción (Paraguay) 605 nm / 1,120 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 1 h 50 min | from £11,500 |
| Montevideo - Santiago (Chile) 767 nm / 1,420 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 2 h 10 min | from £13,950 |
| Montevideo - São Paulo Guarulhos (Brazil) 881 nm / 1,632 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 2 h 25 min | from £15,700 |
Two limits on these sectors
– The short hops to the coast are often better made by road or helicopter, since the resort is about 115 km from Carrasco and a jet saves little once handling and the drive at the far end are counted.
– A flight to Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay or Chile needs permission from each country involved, and the party clears immigration at the other end. San Fernando, the business aviation airport of Buenos Aires, is listed as open only to aircraft under 30 tonnes, so the operator confirms the aircraft and the airport for each sector in writing.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Uruguay:
Ultra-long range
The classes that cross from Britain without a stop. The G550 is the working choice, the G650ER adds margin from the northern airfields, and the Global 7500 has the longest published range.
Heavy jets
Large cabins that reach the River Plate with a planned stop, and inside the region suit the longer sectors to Santiago or São Paulo.
Super-midsize
The class behind most regional legs from Montevideo, under an hour to Buenos Aires and about two hours to Santiago or São Paulo.
Light jets
For Punta del Este, Colonia and other short hops with four to six people, and the choice for the shorter runway at Colonia.
Turboprops
For short coastal and regional work, not for the journey from London.

Because a long-range jet is expensive by the hour, a Uruguayan quote often lets the big aircraft wait at Carrasco while a smaller jet flies the regional legs, and says plainly which flies which sector.

Business aviation airports in Uruguay
Uruguay has two airports that matter for a foreign business jet, Carrasco and Laguna del Sauce, and the choice between them follows the calendar more than the map. In January the resort airport takes the private traffic, and for the rest of the year Carrasco does most of the work:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Montevideo Carrasco MVD / SUMU |
in Carrasco, about 19 km from the centre of Montevideo | The capital's international airport and the one we use for the anchor price. Two asphalt runways, 07/25 of 3,200 metres and 01/19 of 2,250 metres, at about 32 metres above sea level, with ILS and VOR/DME approaches, a control tower listed as open round the clock and customs on site. Slots are listed as not required and handling as not mandatory, although we book a handler for every landing. Munser FBO, Aerowise, Argentina Ground Support, Arsot Flight Support and Pike Aviation are the handlers listed. The air force base next door shares the runways. Published hours differ between sources, one showing 11:00 to 20:00 UTC (08:00 to 17:00 local) and another round the clock, so we confirm the hours for your arrival. |
| Punta del Este Laguna del Sauce PDP / SULS |
about 15 km west-north-west of Maldonado, the airport of the resort | The summer airport. The main runway is 08/26 of about 2,130 metres, with a second, 01/19, of about 1,600 metres, at about 29 metres above sea level, and the approach is VOR/DME. Airport and tower are listed as open round the clock, customs and immigration are listed 24 hours by one handler guide, slots are not required, and handling is mandatory. Jet fuel is listed. The terminal was designed by Carlos Ott, and a newer general aviation terminal, built to triple the capacity of the earlier one, handles the private traffic. The airfield is shared with the navy's aviation base. Aerowise, Argentina Ground Support, Arsot Flight Support and Pike Aviation are the handlers listed. A record of 220 general aviation operations in one day has been reported for the last week of December, so a summer arrival is booked weeks ahead. |
| Colonia Laguna de los Patos CYR / SUCA |
about 8 to 9 km from Colonia del Sacramento | A small field for a day trip from Montevideo or Buenos Aires. One asphalt runway, 13/31, of about 1,370 metres, with no lights and visual approaches only, so it is used by day. It is listed as an airport of entry with customs, hours 10:00 to 22:00 UTC (07:00 to 19:00 local), slots not required and handling not mandatory. Jet fuel is listed and no handler is named. There are no scheduled passenger flights, and a large jet is better kept at Carrasco. |
| El Jagüel and the coast to the east SUPE and others |
El Jagüel about 6 km north-east of Punta del Este | El Jagüel has a short asphalt runway of under 600 metres, visual approaches only, hours from 11:00 UTC to sunset and no customs listed, so it is for small private aircraft and not for a jet from Britain. The airport listing itself advises using Laguna del Sauce. A new airport for the Rocha coast near José Ignacio has been proposed by the airport operator as a place for charters and private flights, but it is at project stage and is not an airfield to plan on. |
Four points settle most trips before a quote goes out:
The permit
The Uruguayan civil aviation authority, DINACIA, coordinates overflights, and a permit agency recommends about 72 hours of notice. The requirement depends on the category of the flight, so the operator confirms in writing whether a separate permit is needed. One handler guide lists a permit as valid for 72 hours with no processing fee.
Landing permission
Landing permit requirements are listed only as to be advised, so the operator and the handler confirm them for each flight, together with the overflight application.
Office hours
The authority is listed as working from 10:30 to 18:00 UTC, which is 07:30 to 15:00 in Uruguay, a narrow window for a late change.
Fuel and crew
Jet A-1 is arranged by the handler with a fuel release from the supplier, so fuel is requested with the permit and not on the day. Crew visas are issued on arrival against the general declaration and are usually valid for up to 72 hours.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Uruguay is outside the European Union and the Schengen area, and the entry rules for a British citizen are short. Immigration and customs are cleared at an airport of entry, and for a private flight that means Carrasco, Laguna del Sauce or Colonia.
The passport must be valid for the whole of the stay and have at least one blank page for the entry stamp. A British citizen needs no visa for a visit of up to 90 daysevery passenger, children included
Crew named on the general declaration can be given a visa on arrival, usually valid for up to 72 hours. A passenger who does need a visa has to get it before departurelisted by the handler
Fruit, vegetables, animals and dairy products may not be imported, and neither may flammable materials or narcotics. Anything that may be prohibited or taxable must be declared, and all baggage can be X-rayed and searcheddeclared at the desk
Up to 10,000 US dollars or the equivalent in other currencies, precious metals or monetary instruments may be brought in. A larger amount has to be declareddeclared at the desk
The FCDO entry page does not name a vaccination as a condition of entry. The NHS TravelHealthPro guide for Uruguay covers vaccines and other medical advicecheck before you fly
Security and the way home
We suggest reading the FCDO travel advice for Uruguay before you book.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, and most other nationalities do.

Which airport for which part of Uruguay
The arrival airport follows from one address: the office in the capital, the house on the Atlantic coast, the colonial town on the river. These are the usual pairings:
The capital stands on the northern shore of the River Plate, with about 1.3 million people in the city and nearly two million in the metropolitan area. The port, the banks, the World Trade Center towers and most business meetings are here, and Carrasco is about 19 km from the centreMontevideo Carrasco
The resort is about 140 km east of Montevideo, and the coast runs on towards La Barra and José Ignacio. Laguna del Sauce is the nearest airport with customs, and Carrasco is about 115 km from the resortPunta del Este Laguna del Sauce
The old Portuguese town on the river, facing Buenos Aires across the waterColonia in daylight, or Carrasco and a car
Cattle country, the Uruguay River and the industrial landscape of Fray Bentos on its bank. We have no confirmed handling data for the airfields of the interior, so these trips are arranged case by caseCarrasco, then road or a light aircraft
Montevideo, Punta del Este and Colonia: what our clients go for
Uruguay is a small country of about three and a half million people, and beef is its largest export. Much of our business travel follows from that: livestock and grain traders, machinery suppliers, and the bankers and lawyers who sit in Montevideo.
The leisure traffic goes to the coast. Punta del Este sits on a peninsula about 140 km east of the capital, with a lighthouse 45 metres tall, the Casapueblo complex in the style of Santorini, the giant hand sculpture on the beach called La Mano, and Gorriti Island offshore. The permanent population is about eighteen thousand, and in summer it greatly expands.
Montevideo rewards a day on foot. The old city, the Ciudad Vieja, was walled until 1829 and today holds the museums, banks and restaurants. The Mercado del Puerto dates from 1868, the Teatro Solís from 1856, and the Palacio Salvo, finished in the late 1920s, rises 100 metres. The Rambla, the coastal avenue, runs for about 27 km, and the city was officially founded on 24 December 1726.
Two UNESCO sites complete the picture. The historic quarter of Colonia del Sacramento was founded by the Portuguese in 1680. The Fray Bentos Industrial Landscape, on the Uruguay River, grew out of a meat-salting factory of 1859 and the Liebig meat extract works.
The Uruguayan year: a summer coast and a mild winter
The climate is temperate, with four seasons and no wet or dry period. Summer runs from December to March and winter from June to September, and rain is spread evenly through the year:
summer, with Montevideo averaging a daytime high near 28 °C in January. Punta del Este averages about 22 °C in February. This is the resort seasonpeak season
winter, with a Montevideo daytime high near 15 °C in July and a night low near 7 °C. The coast is quiet and the aircraft that come are almost all for businesscool and quiet
Weather and the aircraft
Weather rarely drives the choice of aircraft here. The date does: the summer peak decides whether you can get parking at Punta del Este at all.
The Uruguayan calendar: New Year at La Barra, Carnaval and the Expo Prado
Three dates organise the year, and each of them changes which airport you want:
Why the summer weeks need early booking
The airport at Punta del Este is shared with a naval air base, and a Rocha tourism official has described it as saturated on certain dates. A request for the days around New Year should go to the operator as soon as the dates are fixed, with Carrasco and a car as the fallback.

Flying to Uruguay with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat travelling with its owner can enter Uruguay without an import permit and without a fee, and the animal is presented in person to the agriculture ministry, MGAP, at the border crossing, which for a private flight means the airport. We confirm the airport, the inspection and the paperwork in writing.
The one fact to read before you book
The certificate is a British one. An official vet signs the export health certificate for cats and dogs to Uruguay after an examination made within 10 days before export, and the certificate is valid for 10 days from signature. The rabies vaccination must have been given between 30 days and one year before export. Uruguay itself asks for a first vaccination at least 21 days before entry, so the longer British period governs. The animal must also be treated against internal parasites with a licensed product containing praziquantel.
The way home is the harder half. Uruguay is not on the list of countries with relaxed rules, so the animal returns on a Great Britain pet health certificate, and a rabies blood test is required with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml, taken at least 30 days after the vaccination. Entry to Britain is not allowed until three months after the date of the sample, and a dog also needs tapeworm treatment from a vet 24 to 120 hours before landing.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination, which the return to Britain requires and Uruguay lists for dogs, and a wait of at least 21 full days after the vaccination;
- Treatment against internal and external parasites within 15 days before the certificate is issued, recorded with the date and the product, and for a dog an internal treatment that contains praziquantel;
- For a dog, the Uruguayan rules also list a test for leishmaniasis within 60 days before entry for animals from countries not declared free, which we check against the British certificate for your dates.
The three-month count is the point. A weekend with a pet in Uruguay does not work unless the blood sample was taken three months before the return, so we build the timetable backwards from the landing in Britain.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Uruguayan run they come in waves, because few aircraft can make the crossing and most of the demand arrives at the same time.
Where Uruguayan empty legs come from
– A long-range jet that flew a party out to Punta del Este for the New Year and returns to Britain without passengers, which is the commonest leg and the one most often offered in the first weeks of January;
– A jet repositioning to Montevideo or to Buenos Aires for a booking that starts on the River Plate, which turns the outbound crossing into a bargain for anyone who can leave on the operator's date.
A client who can offer a window of several weeks has a far better chance of a match. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Uruguayan empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) - UK (London Farnborough) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £72,850 |
| Uruguay (Punta del Este PDP) - UK (Birmingham) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £72,900 |
| UK (Belfast) - Uruguay (Punta del Este PDP) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £72,950 |
| UK (London Gatwick) - Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £72,950 |
| UK (London Biggin Hill) - Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £73,100 |
| UK (London Luton) - Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £73,250 |
| Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) - UK (Manchester) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £73,500 |
| Uruguay (Montevideo MVD) - UK (Edinburgh) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | £74,550 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A G550 home from Montevideo to Farnborough with sixteen seats comes to about £4,550 a head, on a cabin that is large for the money. Set it beside the same sector in the first table: the saving is large.

Helicopter charter
Helicopter work in Uruguay is arranged case by case, and we do not publish a standing price list for it. Availability depends on which machine can be positioned, and in January the same few helicopters serve the whole coast. The transfers clients ask about are short:
a straight-line distance of 48 nautical miles, over the water and the coastal townsabout 35 min
a straight-line distance of 92 nautical miles along the river, a short alternative to the roadabout 55 min
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and the operator confirms the helicopter type, the route and the landing site for your date. We confirm landing permission at the destination before the quote is issued, because a private landing site at a beach house or on a farm is never assumed.

Flights from the UK to Uruguay
Farnborough, Biggin Hill, Gatwick and Luton send most of the traffic on this corridor, with Stansted, Birmingham and Manchester behind them and Scotland and the north of England at the long end; the price table higher up covers thirteen of those pairings. Our clients have access to all airports of the UK and Europe. Due to the unique partnership conditions, we can offer our clients the best prices for business aviation services. Our experts will consult you on the availability of private jets in a particular city and help you choose the best option.

Uruguayan charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
MONTEVIDEO · THE BUSINESS TRIP
Two directors and three days of meetings
Farnborough - Montevideo, Gulfstream G550, about 12 h 35 min each way · 2 pax
Wheels up at eight, on the ground in the late afternoon on the local clock, and a night in the city before the first meeting. The aircraft waited at Carrasco for the party.
PUNTA DEL ESTE · NEW YEAR
A family of eight and the first week of January
Luton - Punta del Este, Gulfstream G550, about 12 h 40 min · 8 pax
Parking at the resort was booked weeks ahead, and the aircraft repositioned empty to Carrasco to wait, returning to the resort for the party ten days later.
BUENOS AIRES · THE RIVER HOP
A lunch meeting across the River Plate
Montevideo - Buenos Aires San Fernando, Challenger 350, about 50 min each way · 4 pax
A super-midsize jet based in the region flew the party out in the morning and home in the evening. San Fernando was chosen because the aircraft was well under its 30 tonne limit.
COLONIA · THE DAY TRIP
A couple and a day among the colonial streets
Montevideo - Colonia, Phenom 300E, about 40 min each way · 2 pax
The runway at Colonia is short and unlit, so the light jet flew in during daylight with a car booked for the old town and was back at Carrasco before the evening.
MONTEVIDEO · THE EXPO PRADO
Four buyers and a week at the livestock fair
Birmingham - Montevideo, Gulfstream G550, about 12 h 40 min · 4 pax
The G550 had range for Montevideo with a margin, so there was no stop. The party's two dogs travelled too, and the paperwork for their return was prepared months ahead.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE NEW YEAR
A flexible return from Montevideo
Montevideo - London Farnborough, Gulfstream G550 empty leg, about 12 h 35 min · 4 pax

Yes. The animal needs a British export health certificate signed by an official vet within 10 days of export, a rabies vaccination given 30 days to a year before export, and treatment against internal parasites with praziquantel. The way home needs a rabies blood test and a wait of three months from the sample date, and a dog needs tapeworm treatment between 24 and 120 hours before landing.
