Private jet charter in Oman
Leave a London airfield at nine in the morning and a business jet puts you on the ground in Muscat at about half past eight in the evening, local time in winter, without a stop on the way. That is 7 hours 35 minutes in the air over 3,255 nautical miles, and it decides which aircraft can be offered, what the trip costs and how much fuel margin the crew keeps. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Oman the paperwork starts early: the aviation authority asks for a permit at least 72 hours before a charter lands, and the rules name Muscat as the point of first landing, so we begin every booking with the permit and the handler, and with the aircraft only after that.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Oman depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 flying nonstop to Muscat International and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Oman?
Oman keeps Gulf Standard Time, UTC+4, all year round, which is four hours ahead of Britain in winter and three in summer, and it does not change its clocks. The sectors below are flown by a Praetor 600 without a stop and are measured to Muscat International, the airport where almost every private flight into the country begins:
3,255 nautical miles, the shortest of the London options and the basis of the price at the top of this pageabout 7 h 35 min
3,253 nautical miles, level with Biggin Hill to within two nautical miles, and the usual choice for clients in East Anglia and the Cityabout 7 h 35 min
3,286 nautical miles, the field for Hampshire, Surrey and the Thames Valleyabout 7 h 40 min
3,334 nautical miles, the Midlands departure, about eighty nautical miles longer than Biggin Hillabout 7 h 45 min
3,362 nautical miles, the main departure of the north-westabout 7 h 50 min
3,427 nautical miles, the longest of the usual Scottish departuresabout 8 h
Which aircraft can make it in one hop
Light jets and the Citation Latitude, quoted at about 2,700 nautical miles, cannot do it, and a Challenger 350 at about 3,200 would arrive with no real reserve over the 3,255 nautical miles from Biggin Hill. The Embraer Praetor 600, published at about 4,018 nautical miles with four passengers, is the cheapest cabin that flies the sector comfortably, which is why the title price of this page is built on it. A full cabin shortens the reach, so the operator confirms the fuel plan against the number of passengers before an offer is final.
A smaller aircraft is still possible if the client accepts a stop in southern Europe or the eastern Mediterranean. The stop costs about an hour on the ground and a second set of fees, and it appears in the quote as a separate line. In the other direction the westerlies are on the nose, and the flight home usually takes about half an hour longer.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Reading the table
– The departure airfield changes the bill by a few hundred pounds in the south and by a couple of thousand at the far end. Edinburgh is about £2,600 dearer than Biggin Hill and Belfast about £3,750 dearer, because the long middle of the trip is the same for everyone;
– The arrival airport matters a little more. From Biggin Hill the same Praetor 600 is £50,050 to Sohar and £48,600 to Khasab, both nearer than Muscat, and £53,900 to Salalah and £54,100 to Duqm, both farther. Landing outside Muscat is a separate permit request, so a few thousand pounds saved on distance can disappear in paperwork;
– A one-way price assumes that the aircraft flies home empty. If you stay in Oman for several days, the aircraft either waits on the apron, with parking and crew hotel costs listed separately, or flies home and comes back for you, and we put both versions in front of you when the dates are known.
Private jet flights within Oman and to its neighbours
Oman is a large country with few people in it, and the main towns lie far apart: Salalah is almost 480 nautical miles from Muscat, and Duqm about 260. Business jets and turboprops therefore save real time on some internal sectors, and the Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are close enough to add to a Muscat stop:

What to know about these sectors
– A flight between Muscat and Dubai or Abu Dhabi is an international leg in both directions. Each country issues its own landing permit and each passenger needs the right entry document at the far end, so a hop that looks short on the map is a new application and not a domestic transfer;
– The shortest pairs sit on the minimum charter price, so Muscat to Sohar costs the same £3,100 as Muscat to Khasab. For Sohar the road is the real competitor, since the town is on the coast to the north-west of the capital; for Khasab the jet competes with a long drive and a border crossing, which is where it earns its fee;
– Salalah is the sector worth a jet. It saves the best part of a day against the road, and in the monsoon months it is the leg that clients add to a Muscat meeting.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Oman:
Light and midsize jets
Right for the sectors inside Oman and across the Gulf once the party is in the region. From Britain they need a fuel stop, and the Citation Latitude, quoted at about 2,700 nautical miles, falls well short of the distance to Muscat.
Super-midsize
The smallest class that reaches Muscat from London in one hop. The Praetor 600 sets the price of this page, while the Challenger 350 has less reserve against a headwind on the way out.
Heavy jets
For a delegation, a family with staff or a team with equipment. Room to work and sleep on a seven-and-a-half-hour sector, and runways of about 4,000 metres at Muscat and Salalah take every aircraft of this class.
Ultra-long range
The class with the most margin: a sector of this length is comfortable for it, and the same aircraft can carry on to Asia or return to Britain without refuelling in the Gulf.

Business aviation airports in Oman
Five airfields take the business jets that fly into Oman, and one of them takes nearly all of them. The rules published by the civil aviation authority tell visiting operators to land first at Muscat and to leave from it, unless an exception is granted in advance, so the other four are planned as second stops or as requested exceptions:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Muscat International MCT / OOMS |
Seeb, about 32 km west of old Muscat, roughly 30 minutes to the centre | The gateway for private flights and the one airport that every rule on this page assumes. Two runways of 4,080 and 4,000 metres, listed open round the clock, an airport of entry with customs, slots required and handling mandatory. Jetex runs the dedicated terminal for private aviation, and the Royal Flight of Oman and the air force share the field |
| Salalah International SLL / OOSA |
on the edge of Salalah, about 15 minutes from the centre by a private road | The airport for Dhofar, the Khareef season and the south coast. One runway of about 4,000 metres, round-the-clock operations, customs available, slots required and handling mandatory. Jetex has a lounge in the VIP terminal. A direct arrival from Britain is requested as an exception, since the rules name Muscat first |
| Duqm International DQM / OODQ |
about 19 km south of Duqm town, some 550 km from Muscat | Serves the special economic zone, the port and the refinery. One runway of about 4,000 metres, so a closure leaves no second runway on the field. Handlers list the airport and file the landing permit about three working days ahead; no dedicated private terminal is listed |
| Sohar International OHS / OOSH |
about 7 km inland from Sohar, on the Batinah coast | A quiet field with a runway of 4,015 metres that serves the port and freezone, with corporate and cargo traffic and few scheduled flights. International handlers list it for landing permits and ground handling. Hours should be confirmed for each arrival |
| Khasab KHS / OOKB |
Musandam peninsula, separated from the rest of Oman by the UAE | A single runway of 2,500 metres and a small terminal served by Oman Air flights to Dubai and Muscat. The shortest runway of the five, so the payload of a large jet is checked before it is quoted. Useful for Musandam, but not for the resorts that can be reached only from the UAE |
Four points settle most arrivals before a quote goes out:
Muscat first
The aeronautical information publication for Oman says an aircraft landing in or leaving the country must first land at, and finally depart from, Muscat International unless the authority grants a dispensation beforehand. A flight to Salalah or Duqm straight from Britain is therefore asked for as an exception, and we put the answer in writing before a date is fixed.
A permit, 72 hours ahead
Non-scheduled and private flights both need the authority's permission, and the application must arrive not less than 72 hours before landing or overflight. Handlers describe a validity window of about 24 to 72 hours either side of the planned time, so a late change of day means a new application.
Slots and handling
At Muscat and Salalah the FBO lists slots as required and handling as mandatory. We request the slot and the handler together with the permit and do not leave the parking question to the day of arrival.
One runway outside Muscat
Duqm, Sohar and Khasab each have a single runway, so a closure there has no second runway to fall back on. The flight plan names an alternate, and for a Duqm or Salalah trip it is usually Muscat.
For each airport, the handler, the hours and the customs arrangements:
Jetex is the FBO and describes itself as the first and sole provider of FBO services in the country. The airport is listed open 24 hours with customs on site; the terminal has an executive lounge, a crew lounge, meeting rooms and showers, and private customs and immigration are done in the lounge4,080 m
Jetex works from a lounge in the VIP terminal. Listed as 24-hour operations, with customs and immigration services offered, slots required and handling mandatory. Fuel, catering, crew hotels and transport are arranged through the same handlerabout 4,000 m
Handled through agents appointed by international handling companies; there is no FBO of the Muscat kind. The authority's permit is filed about three working days ahead, and customs and immigration are cleared in the terminal. We confirm the hours of the airport for each arrivalabout 4,000 m
Ground handling, fuel and customs support are arranged through international handlers that list the airport, and the surroundings are the port and the freezone. Opening hours are not published in the sources we use, so they are confirmed for every flight4,015 m
A small airfield with one runway, served by scheduled flights to Muscat and Dubai. We arrange handling through a local agent and confirm in writing that the aircraft type can use the runway at the weight of the day2,500 m
Open all night is not the same as open for everything
Only Muscat and Salalah are listed with round-the-clock operations in the sources we use, and even there a permit covers a window of a day or two and a slot has to be held. A night arrival outside Muscat is a question for the handler, not an assumption. Tell us when you need to land and we will name the airport that still works at that hour.
Arriving from Britain: visa, customs and the landing permit
Oman is outside the European Union and the Schengen area. A British passport holder can enter without a visa for a short stay, so most of the preparation falls on the aircraft's side, the permit, and on a few passenger details that catch families out:
British citizens can stay up to 14 days without a visa; longer stays, and travel for work or study, need one. An e-visa is applied for online before departure, and a visit visa can also be bought on arrival at an Omani airport. The passport must have an expiry date at least six months after the day of arrivalevery passenger, children included
Border officers may ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and proof of travel health insurance. On a private flight the itinerary and the handler's letter answer the first two, and we advise passengers to carry the insurance documentcarry the itinerary
Oman does not recognise dual nationality, and the authorities may confiscate one of a traveller's passports. A passenger who also holds an Omani or other passport should tell us at the time of bookingtell us in advance
The operator applies to the civil aviation authority at least 72 hours before landing. The application lists the aircraft, the crew, the passengers and who pays the landing and parking charges, and the aircraft files a general declaration and a passenger manifest on arrival and departurearranged by us
The customs summary we use lists 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco per adult, and for non-Muslim adults over 21 one litre of spirits or two litres of wine or beer. Gifts and personal goods up to OMR 200, about £400, are duty-free, with 5 per cent above thatper person, not shared
Cash or negotiable instruments above OMR 6,000, about £12,000, must be declared. Some UK prescription and over-the-counter medicines are illegal in Oman and strong painkillers such as tramadol and codeine need approval from the Ministry of Health; carry a copy of the prescription. Drones need a special permit and e-cigarettes are listed as banneddeclare, do not guess

Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. The handler in Oman is told the arrival airfield, so the passengers and the baggage are ready for the first British landing.
Read the travel advice before you book
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office publishes entry rules and safety advice for Oman, and we read it with the client before a date is fixed. Regional airspace can be restricted at short notice, so a charter is confirmed only when the operator holds the route, the permits and the insurance cover in writing, and where a route is closed we offer the nearest open alternative.
Which airport for which part of Oman
Oman stretches along the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz, and the places clients ask about are hundreds of kilometres apart. The address decides the field, and sometimes it decides that a helicopter finishes the journey:
the capital's hotels, ministries and the Royal Opera House in Shati Al-Qurm, and the old quarter of Mutrah with its souq and corniche, roughly 30 minutes or a little more from the terminalMuscat International
the Green Mountain, where the Anantara resort stands at 2,000 metres; Anantara and Alila are reached by a mountain road or by helicopter in 35 to 40 minutes from MuscatMuscat, then helicopter
the frankincense coast and, from late June, the green hills and waterfalls of the Khareef, including Wadi Darbat and Mughsail beachSalalah International
the special economic zone, with a port and a refinery, and the beaches and dunes of Ras Madraka and Khalouf, some 550 km from MuscatDuqm International
the port and freezone on the Batinah coast, an industrial centre, about 7 km from the airportSohar or Muscat
the northern peninsula, where Khasab is the main town; Six Senses Zighy Bay can be entered only from the UAE, through the Dibba border, and is about 120 minutes by road from Dubai InternationalKhasab, or a UAE airport
a quick extension: Dubai is 195 nautical miles from Muscat, and a light jet makes the sector in about an hour at mostMuscat, then onward
Two things that shape a booking in Oman
– Distances are larger than they look. Muscat to Duqm is about 260 nautical miles in a straight line and Muscat to Salalah about 480, so a domestic sector is a real flight and not a hop. A client who plans a tour of the country should expect a jet to save a day or more;
– Musandam is the awkward corner. It is Omani territory, but the land around it is the UAE, so a trip there can start from Khasab, from a UAE airfield with a border crossing, or from the sea. We choose with the passengers' documents in front of us, since each route has its own entry formalities.
Government, energy and the coast: what our clients go for
Business is the commonest reason to fly to Oman. Muscat is the seat of government and the centre of the oil and gas sector, and delegations arrive for a few days of meetings, often with an onward leg to Duqm or Sohar, where the industrial zones are.
The second group comes for the country itself. Muscat has the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Mutrah souq and the Al Alam Palace near the corniche, and the Royal Opera House, which holds up to 1,100 people.
The third group goes inland and south. Jebel Akhdar rises behind the capital, and the high resorts there are reached by road or, for about 35 to 40 minutes, by helicopter from Muscat. In Dhofar the monsoon turns the hills green from late June, and clients from the Gulf come in numbers to escape the heat.
The Omani year: mild winters, hot summers and the green Khareef
In Muscat the mean daily high is about 25 degrees in January and about 37 in July, and the record is 49. Rain is rare and falls mostly between December and April. Salalah follows a different calendar, since the monsoon brings fog and drizzle to the Dhofar coast in the months when the rest of the Gulf is at its hottest:
the cool, dry season for Muscat and the north, with the festivals and the Tour of Oman; large cabins are scarce at the turn of the yearbook six to eight weeks ahead
the Khareef, when Salalah has a mean daily high of about 27 or 28 degrees in July and August, against 37 in Muscat; the Salalah Tourism Festival runs in July and AugustSalalah is the busy airport
very hot in Muscat and inland, the quietest period for business travel, and a time when a charter can often be arranged in a day or twoshort notice is easier
moves through the calendar from year to year; daytime hours slow and offices shorten their days, while the airports keep workingplan the meetings, not the flight
What the heat does to an aircraft
Hot air is thin, so a heavy jet leaving Muscat on a July afternoon may take off with less fuel or fewer bags than the same aircraft at dawn in January. On a sector of seven and a half hours towards Britain that matters, so in summer we favour night and early-morning departures and ask the operator to confirm the payload for the temperature of the day.
The Omani calendar: festivals, races and the Khareef
Most dates fall in the cool season, and one big exception falls in the hot one:
What a peak does to a flight plan
– The pressure falls on two airports. Muscat is busiest in the cool months, while Salalah is busiest in July and August, when the rest of the Gulf is at its hottest. A request filed early, with the permit, is the only dependable answer in either place;
– The aircraft that bring delegations and fans for a race or a festival often leave empty, and the empty legs that follow are an opportunity for a client with a flexible return date.

Flying to Oman with a dog or a cat
Oman admits dogs and cats, but the permission has to exist before the animal moves. The British pet passport does not enter the picture; what counts is an Omani veterinary permit and a set of documents that matches it.
The two things to settle first
A veterinary import permit is issued by the quarantine department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources through the customs Bayan system, with an application fee of OMR 20, about £40. The customs service says the permit is approved within two hours of the application during working hours, which makes it quick, but the documents behind it are not.
The second question is how the animal is received. Published pet-travel guides say pets arrive through Muscat International, that the airport veterinary officials should be told in advance, and that an arrival at night, at a weekend or on a holiday may mean waiting for inspection. None of them addresses a private aircraft, so we ask in writing how the animal will be cleared at the private terminal and we do not promise a cabin arrival until we have the answer.
- An electronic microchip, with its number on the vaccination record;
- A rabies vaccination given after 12 weeks of age and no more than 12 months before import, to an animal that is at least four months old;
- A rabies antibody blood test (FAVN or RNATT) at an accredited laboratory, sampled 21 to 30 days after the last vaccination and between 3 and 12 months before export;
- A health certificate from the government vet of the exporting country, with the permit, the vaccination record and the laboratory certificate;
- Banned breeds, which cover pit bull, Staffordshire and American Bully types, mastiffs, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Boxers, Great Danes and several guardian breeds, and their crosses.
The customs service lists no fixed quarantine for an animal that meets these conditions, and the permit sets the conditions of entry, so we read the permit before the flight is booked and not after.
Coming home, the rule is British. Published guides class Oman as an unlisted country, which means a rabies antibody test and a wait of three months from the sample before the animal can enter Great Britain, and we check the GOV.UK position for the date of travel. A dog must in any case be treated for tapeworm by a vet between 24 and 120 hours before it arrives, so the clinic visit is booked in Muscat with the flight. A cat needs no treatment. An animal without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
Both countries ask for a rabies blood test, so we plan the vaccination and sampling dates once and ask the laboratory to confirm that its result is accepted by both. Other species follow different rules, and the general guidance for pets on a private flight is set out on our flying with pets page. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a positioning flight with an empty cabin, sold at a fraction of the normal price. Oman produces them because so many trips are one-way in character: a delegation flies out for a few days, and the aircraft goes home or on to its next job with nobody aboard. At seven and a half hours each way, the saving on a leg is large.
Where Omani empty legs come from
– Aircraft that bring a delegation, a family or a project team out from Britain and return light, which is the version most often offered;
– Aircraft moving around the Gulf before and after the Khareef, the winter festivals and the holiday weeks, when operators reposition to where demand is;
– Short regional legs between Muscat, Dubai and Salalah, which appear when a client stays in one city and the aircraft goes on to another.
A client with a few free days has a far better chance of a match, although the operator owns the date and a leg can vanish when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Oman empty legs follows, at about two fifths of the fresh one-way price:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai - Muscat | Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £2,400 |
| Salalah - Muscat | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £3,800 |
| Muscat - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £21,650 |
| UK (London Luton) - Muscat | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £21,800 |
| Muscat - UK (Farnborough) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £21,850 |
| Muscat - UK (Manchester) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £28,600 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Muscat | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £29,100 |
| UK (Birmingham) - Muscat | Legacy 650 | 13 seats | £30,000 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft, not for a seat. A Praetor 600 from London Luton to Muscat at £21,800 with eight aboard comes to about £2,700 a head;
– Set each line beside the same sector in the tables above. A Challenger 605 from Manchester at £28,600 against a fresh charter of £68,050 is the saving in plain terms. Legs on a route this long are rarer than on a short corridor, and a leg that starts in the Gulf depends on the operator's own plans, so an open return date helps.

Oman is a country of mountains, wadis and a long coast, and a helicopter reaches places a car takes hours to reach. The jet brings you to Muscat and the rotary aircraft flies the last stage. Landing sites away from an airport need approval in every case, so the site is confirmed before the quote:
a scenic flight along the shore past the Grand Mosque, the Royal Opera House and the Mutrah corniche; the operators quote 20 to 25 minutes on an Airbus H125 with five seatsabout 20 to 25 minutes
a longer circuit over the forts and the Al Qurm nature reserve on the same aircraftabout 35 to 40 minutes
a private transfer to the Anantara or Alila resort on the mountain, quoted at 35 minutes on an Airbus H145 with eight seats and 40 on the five-seat H125, in place of a long drive up a mountain roadabout 35 to 40 minutes
The operators and the rules
– Al Sharqiya Aviation is described as Oman's private helicopter operator and flies the Airbus H145, H125 and H145 D3. Excursion companies sell the same flights, with a meeting point at Madinat Al Irfan in Muscat;
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. Hotels, resorts and mountain pads need approved status, a flight across a border needs the permission of the other state, and Musandam and the neighbouring UAE are a case where this matters. We plan the transfer as a possibility and keep a car in reserve for the same journey.

Oman charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs assembled from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
MUSCAT · FOUR DAYS OF MEETINGS
Three executives and four days of ministry meetings
Biggin Hill - Muscat and return, Praetor 600, about 7 h 35 min each way · 3 pax
The permit was filed as soon as the date was firm, well ahead of the 72 hours the authority asks for, and the aircraft stayed on the apron under a parking arrangement made with the handler. Passengers cleared immigration in the private terminal, and the visas were not needed for a stay inside 14 days.
JEBEL AKHDAR · A WEEKEND ON THE MOUNTAIN
A couple and a helicopter on the mountain
Farnborough - Muscat, Praetor 600, about 7 h 40 min · 2 pax
The jet landed at Muscat in the early evening and a helicopter flew the couple to the resort the next morning in about 35 minutes. The helicopter site was approved by the resort before the quote, and a car was kept in reserve for the road.
SALALAH · THE KHAREEF
A family of seven and a house on the coast
Biggin Hill - Salalah, Praetor 600, about 7 h 55 min · 7 pax
The rules name Muscat as the point of first landing, so a direct arrival at Salalah was asked for as an exception and the answer was in writing before the date was fixed. The family stayed three weeks and the aircraft flew home and came back for them.
MUSCAT AND DUBAI
Morning in Oman, dinner in the Emirates
Muscat - Dubai Al Maktoum, Phenom 300E, about 45 min · 5 pax
Two landing permits were applied for together, one for Oman and one for the UAE, and the passenger list was sent to both handlers. The sector took a fraction of the time that the drive to the border alone would have needed, and the return was left open for the evening.
WITH THE DOG · A LONG ASSIGNMENT
A couple, a spaniel and a posting of several months
London Stansted - Muscat, Praetor 600, about 7 h 35 min · 2 pax + dog
The blood test came first, with the dates counted back from the flight, then the permit through the customs system. We asked the handler in writing how the dog would be received at the private terminal, and booked the tapeworm treatment for the way home in Muscat.
EMPTY LEG · A FLEXIBLE RETURN
A Muscat departure with a window of three days
Muscat - London Luton, Praetor 600 empty leg, about 7 h 40 min · 4 pax
The client gave us a window, not a date, which is what makes these flights work, and paid about £21,800, a little over two fifths of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a departure on the second day of the window.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Oman
1How long does it take to fly to Oman by private jet?
About 7 hours 35 minutes nonstop from London Biggin Hill to Muscat on a Praetor 600, and 8 hours from Edinburgh. A smaller aircraft needs a technical stop that adds about an hour. Oman is four hours ahead of Britain in winter and three hours ahead in summer.
2How much does a private jet to Oman cost?
From about £51,550 one way from Biggin Hill to Muscat on a Praetor 600, the cheapest aircraft we price for the nonstop run. Edinburgh costs about £2,600 more on the same aircraft, and Salalah from Biggin Hill is £53,900. Short regional sectors start from £3,100 on a turboprop.
3Which airport do private jets use in Oman?
Muscat International, about 32 kilometres west of old Muscat, is the main gateway: two runways of 4,080 and 4,000 metres, customs on site and a Jetex terminal for private aviation. Salalah serves Dhofar, and Duqm, Sohar and Khasab take business jets on request. The aviation rules name Muscat as the first point of landing unless an exception is granted in advance.
4Do British passengers need a visa for Oman?
British citizens can stay up to 14 days without a visa. For a longer stay an e-visa is applied for online, and a visit visa can also be bought on arrival at an Omani airport. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the day of arrival, and officers may ask for a return ticket, proof of accommodation and travel health insurance.
5What permit does a private flight to Oman need?
Private and non-scheduled flights both need the permission of the civil aviation authority, and the application must be received not less than 72 hours before landing. The operator files it with the aircraft, crew and passenger details, and handlers describe a validity window of about 24 to 72 hours around the planned time. We start the application when the date is firm.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Oman?
Yes, with a veterinary import permit obtained through the Omani customs system, a microchip, a rabies vaccination, a rabies antibody blood test taken 3 to 12 months before export and a government health certificate. Several breeds are banned, and quarantine can be imposed. Coming home, Oman is an unlisted country, so a blood test and a wait apply, and dogs need a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before arrival.
