Private jet charter in Democratic Republic of Congo
Kinshasa lies about four kilometres across the Congo River from another capital, Brazzaville, and a private jet leaving Britain reaches it in about eight and a half hours. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For the Democratic Republic of the Congo that means a landing permit, a handler named before the aircraft leaves Britain, a visa for every passenger and a plain answer on which parts of this very large country we can plan and which we cannot.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in the Democratic Republic of the Congo depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 flying nonstop to Kinshasa N'djili International and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to the Democratic Republic of the Congo?
Kinshasa keeps West Africa Time, which is one hour ahead of Greenwich all year and matches London in summer. Lubumbashi and the copper belt run on Central Africa Time, one hour further on. A Biggin Hill departure at eight in the morning lands in Kinshasa after about eight and a half hours in the air, in the late afternoon local time. Sectors to Kinshasa on a Praetor 600, gate to gate:
3,575 nautical miles, the closest of the London fields to central Africa, and the base for the price quoted at the top of the pageabout 8 h 25 min
3,889 nautical miles, the main Scottish departure, about 300 nautical miles further than Biggin Hillabout 9 h 10 min
Kinshasa is a nonstop run, the copper belt is not
Kinshasa lies 3,575 nautical miles from Biggin Hill. A Praetor 600 is published at about 4,000 nautical miles of range, so with two aboard the run fits with a margin of some 400. A Challenger 350, quoted at about 3,200, needs a stop on the way out, and a Citation XLS+, at about 2,100, needs two.
Lubumbashi, at 4,202 nautical miles, is beyond a Praetor. The choice there is a Global 6000 flying straight through, or a smaller jet with a stop that adds about an hour and a half.

Prices for the private jet flights to the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain to Kinshasa, listed cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop Praetor 600, the smallest aircraft we price for this run without a fuel stop. London City is left out on purpose, because its short runway is a poor start for a sector of this length:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The departure airfield moves the price by a few thousand pounds and not by tens of thousands. Edinburgh costs about £4,750 more than Biggin Hill and Glasgow about £4,900 more;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies back empty. On a return trip with a stay of several days it either waits in the Congo, with parking and crew accommodation as lines of their own, or flies home and returns for you.
Kinshasa is the anchor because it is where the government, the embassies, the banks and the handlers are. The mining towns of the south-east lie further, and the same departure to them costs this, with a Global 6000 on both because a Praetor cannot fly the distance without a stop:
| Route from Biggin Hill | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biggin Hill - Kinshasa (N'djili) 3,575 nm / 6,621 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 8 h 25 min | from £56,400 |
| Biggin Hill - Kolwezi 4,115 nm / 7,621 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 8 h 55 min | from £111,950 |
| Biggin Hill - Lubumbashi (Luano) 4,202 nm / 7,782 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 9 h 05 min | from £114,250 |
Private jet flights within the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to its neighbours
The country is vast and its roads are slow, so the useful sectors are few: the capital to the copper belt in the south-east, and the capital to its neighbours. These start at Kinshasa:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kinshasa - Luanda 315 nm / 583 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |

Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 2 h 15 min | from £12,850 |
| Kinshasa - Lubumbashi 872 nm / 1,615 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 2 h 30 min | from £14,750 |
| Kinshasa - Kigali 928 nm / 1,719 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 2 h 40 min | from £15,550 |
| Kinshasa - Nairobi 1,353 nm / 2,506 km |
Challenger 350 up to 9 |
about 3 h 30 min | from £26,850 |
| Kinshasa - Johannesburg 1,559 nm / 2,887 km |
Challenger 350 up to 9 |
about 4 h | from £30,500 |
Two things worth knowing about the sectors
– Whether a foreign-registered aircraft may fly a purely domestic sector, or a Congolese operator must do it, is a point we confirm with the authority and the agent before you commit, and we quote a domestic leg as a line of its own;
– We do not plan sectors to the eastern provinces, which the British government advises against visiting; the section on travel advice below gives the detail.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for the Congo:
Turboprops and light jets
The class for hops inside the country once you are there. From London these jets reach Kinshasa only with two stops, which few clients accept.
Super-midsize
The smallest class that flies London to Kinshasa in one go, and the one our title price is built on. A Challenger 350 needs a technical stop on the way out.
Large cabin
For a team that will work through the flight, with room to rest on a sector of eight and a half hours. A stop is possible on a heavy day, and the extra hour is easier in a bigger cabin.
Ultra-long range
The class with the margin to fly London to Lubumbashi or Kolwezi without a stop, and to bring a full cabin home from Kinshasa with fuel to spare.

Business aviation airports in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Only a handful of the country's many airstrips suit a business jet from Britain:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Kinshasa N'djili International FIH / FZAA |
About 25 km south-east of the city centre, at about 310 metres | The international gateway. One asphalt runway, 06/24, listed at anything from about 3,300 to 4,700 metres depending on the source, so we ask for declared distances. Airport of entry with customs and immigration, listed hours round the clock, handling compulsory, Jet A-1 listed |
| Kinshasa N'Dolo NLO / FZAB |
About 4 km south-east of the centre, at about 290 metres | A city airfield with a short asphalt runway of about 1,300 metres, listed for daylight hours and not as an airport of entry. Not where a business jet from Britain lands |
| Lubumbashi Luano International FBM / FZQA |
About 9 km north-east of Lubumbashi, 872 nm from Kinshasa | One asphalt runway, 07/25, of about 3,200 metres at about 1,310 metres above sea level. Airport of entry with customs, no slots, handling not compulsory. The field for the copper and cobalt belt |
| Kolwezi KWZ / FZQM |
About 9 km east of Kolwezi, 739 nm from Kinshasa | One asphalt runway, 11/29, of about 2,500 metres at about 1,525 metres above sea level. Customs listed but not an airport of entry, daylight hours, no fuel listed |
Published sources do not describe a dedicated business aviation terminal at N'djili. One flight-support summary speaks of a general aviation terminal with a channel of its own and a small apron on the south side of the field, and sources list several handling companies, among them the airways authority RVA, Congo Handling Service and Global Aviation Service. We do not choose from a list: we name the handler, the terminal and the stand for your date in writing before a quote becomes a booking. Goma, Bukavu and Kisangani are not on our list, for the reasons in the travel advice below.
Four points settle most arrivals before a quote goes out:
Landing permit
Permit agents quote 24 to 48 working hours for a standard request with the national authority, AAC, another summary cites five to seven working days for some permits, and any change of tail number, type, date or route needs reconfirming.
Manifests and night arrivals
Handler guidance asks for the crew and passenger lists 48 hours before arrival, and a night arrival needs immigration arranged in advance. Published customs hours at N'djili disagree, so the hour of landing is confirmed in writing.
Fuel
Jet A-1 is listed at N'djili and Lubumbashi, and fuel agents ask for the order a day ahead. Kolwezi lists none, so we plan fuel for the next sector before the aircraft leaves Kinshasa.
The other side of the river
Brazzaville airport, in the neighbouring Republic of the Congo, lies about five nautical miles from N'djili and is named as an alternate. It is another country with its own permit and entry rules, and a fallback for the aircraft, not a way in for passengers.
Arriving from Britain: passports, visas and customs
The Congo is outside every European travel scheme, and the British government's entry rules decide whether a passenger passes through in minutes or is turned away at the desk:
valid for at least six months after the day of arrival; a lost or stolen passport means refused entry; a dual national returning to Britain must carry a valid British passport or a certificate of entitlementevery passenger
a visa is required before arrival; it is applied for through the Congolese embassy in the UK, allowing at least two to three weeks, and a letter of invitation stamped by the foreign ministry in Kinshasa may speed it upapply weeks ahead
a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required, and a polio certificate in some circumstances; Ebola outbreaks have occurred, and the entry guidance can include health screening and temperature checksread the health pages
declare anything that may be prohibited or taxed; satellite phones, GPS receivers and military-style clothing can cause difficulty; a departure tax is listed for international flights and paid at check-indeclare in the hall
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. Most other nationalities do.
Read the travel advice before you book
The British government advises against all travel to Haut-Uele, Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Maniema, Tanganyika and Haut-Lomami provinces, to within 50 km of the border with the Central African Republic and to the Kwamouth territory of Mai-Ndombe. It advises against all but essential travel to the N'djili and Kimbanseke districts of Kinshasa, to the N1 road between Menkao and Kenge, to Upemba National Park and to Bangoka airport in Kisangani. The advice names no city-wide warning for Kinshasa and does not name Lubumbashi.
Travel insurance can be invalid for a journey made against the advice. The N'djili district shares its name with the airport, so we ask the handler which road is used between the airport and the city. A flight is confirmed only when the operator holds the route, the permit and the insurance cover in writing.

Kinshasa, Katanga and the river: what our clients go for
Mining comes first. Haut-Katanga is the centre of the country's copper and cobalt industry, and the visitors are executives, engineers, lenders and investors who need a day or two at a site and the same aircraft home. A private jet keeps a timetable that the airline schedules cannot always give.
Government business is the second reason. Ministries, embassies, international agencies and development lenders sit in Kinshasa.
Leisure travel is small and we say so plainly. The mountain gorilla parks lie in the eastern provinces covered by the strongest warnings, and we do not plan them. What remains is the capital, home to Lola ya Bonobo, a sanctuary for orphaned bonobos, and the music: Congolese rumba, shared by Kinshasa and Brazzaville, was inscribed by UNESCO on its list of intangible cultural heritage.
The Congolese year: a long wet season and a dry winter
Kinshasa has a wet and dry tropical climate, and the temperature changes far less than the rain does:
the rainy season; November is the wettest month, with about 247 millimetres, and April and March bring about 238 and 221; the hottest months at the airport are March and April, with highs of about 33 degreeswet and hot
the dry season; August has about 2 millimetres, and highs fall to about 28 degrees in Julydry and slightly cooler
warm, rainy summers and dry, pleasant winters at about 1,200 metres; June and July are the coolest months and essentially rainless, and October is the hottest; the high fields of Lubumbashi and Kolwezi, at about 1,300 and 1,500 metres, cut the payload of a jet on a warm afternoondry from May to September
The Congolese calendar: national days and the mining week
Public holidays close the offices that issue permits, so the date is checked before the request goes in:

Flying to the Congo with a dog or a cat
The paperwork is the hard part. The Congo asks for vaccination records and a vet-endorsed certificate on the way in, and Britain does not appear to treat the Congo as a listed country, so an animal coming home needs a rabies blood test planned months before the flight.
The one fact to read before you book
Pet travel guidance says a dog or cat travelling with its owner needs a rabies vaccination given 30 days to 12 months before entry, an original health certificate from a licensed vet endorsed by the government vet, recorded parasite treatments, and entry through N'djili. It treats a microchip as recommended and an import permit as necessary only for commercial or unaccompanied animals. The guidance is not an official text, so we confirm each figure in writing.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination, as the return to Britain requires;
- The vaccination record and an export health certificate completed by an Official Veterinarian;
- For the return, a rabies blood test and a Great Britain pet health certificate; GOV.UK counts three months from the date of the blood sample before an animal from a non-listed country may travel to Britain;
- For dogs only, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. A cat needs no treatment.
GOV.UK does not say how the approved-route rule applies to a private aircraft, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing. An animal that does not meet the rules can be placed in quarantine for up to four months. Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. The sector to the Congo is so long that many trips are one-way by nature.
Where Congolese empty legs come from
– Aircraft that take a company party to Kinshasa and fly back to Britain empty, the leg most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioning towards Lubumbashi before the mining week;
– Regional legs between Kinshasa, Lubumbashi and Johannesburg.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. Typical Congolese empty legs:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lubumbashi - Kinshasa | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £6,200 |
| Kinshasa - Johannesburg | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £12,800 |
| Kinshasa - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £23,700 |
| Kinshasa - UK (Farnborough) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £23,750 |
| UK (London Luton) - Kinshasa | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £23,900 |
| UK (Birmingham) - Kinshasa | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £24,250 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Kinshasa | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,700 |
How to read those figures
Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Praetor 600 from London Luton to Kinshasa at £23,900 with eight aboard comes to about £3,000 a head.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter in the Congo is a tool for the edges of a trip, arranged case by case. We do not publish a standing helicopter service for the country, because the machine, the crew and the permission for each landing site are confirmed for the date. The times below are straight-line planning estimates:
in place of a drive of some 25 kmabout 15 min
in place of a drive of some 9 kmabout 10 min
the mining belt, a long sector for a helicopterabout 1 h 20 min
Before you plan around a helicopter
The Congolese authorities control where a helicopter may operate, and the British advice excludes large parts of the country, so we confirm every landing site and overflown area before we quote.

Congolese charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
KINSHASA · A CONTRACT MEETING
Four executives and a signing in the capital
Farnborough - Kinshasa, Praetor 600, about 8 h 30 min · 4 pax
The visas were in the passports weeks ahead, and the handler named the terminal and the stand in writing.
KINSHASA · A SHORT STAY
Two lenders and a one-night visit
London Luton - Kinshasa, Praetor 600, about 8 h 30 min · 2 pax
They arrived the evening before the meetings and flew home the next afternoon, with light bags to protect the payload.
LUBUMBASHI · A SITE VISIT
A mining team on the copper belt
Biggin Hill - Lubumbashi, Global 6000, about 9 h 05 min · 6 pax
The distance was beyond a Praetor, so the team took a Global 6000 straight to Luano.
KINSHASA TO KATANGA · TWO CITIES
A capital arrival and a flight south
Kinshasa - Lubumbashi, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 30 min · 5 pax
The jet from Britain landed at Kinshasa, and the party continued south on a midsize jet. The permit named both airports.
WITH THE DOG · THE LONG LEAD TIME
Two adults and a spaniel on a posting
Biggin Hill - Kinshasa, Praetor 600, about 8 h 25 min · 2 pax + dog
The export certificate came first, then the rabies blood test for the way home, taken early.
EMPTY LEG · A FLEXIBLE RETURN
A Kinshasa departure with a window of three days
Kinshasa - London Luton, Praetor 600 empty leg, about 8 h 30 min · 4 pax
The client gave us a window instead of a date and paid about £23,900, a little under half of a fresh charter.
Frequently asked questions about flying to the Congo
1How long does it take to fly to the Congo by private jet?
About 8 hours 25 minutes nonstop from London Biggin Hill to Kinshasa on a Praetor 600, and 9 hours 10 minutes from Edinburgh. A smaller aircraft needs a technical stop that adds about an hour and a half.
2How much does a private jet to the Democratic Republic of the Congo cost?
From about £56,400 one way from Biggin Hill to Kinshasa on a Praetor 600. Lubumbashi is £114,250 on a Global 6000.
3Do British passengers need a visa and a permit for a private flight to the Congo?
Yes. A visa is required before arrival, through the Congolese embassy in the UK, and two to three weeks should be allowed. The passport must be valid for six months after arrival, and a yellow fever certificate is required. The aircraft needs a landing permit, which agents quote at 24 to 48 working hours.
4Can I fly a private jet to Goma or eastern Congo?
No. The British government advises against all travel to North Kivu, South Kivu, Ituri and several other provinces, and says that commercial flights are not operating from the airports at Goma and Bukavu. We do not plan them.
5Can I take my dog or cat to the Congo on a private jet?
Yes, in the cabin, but start early. Guidance says the animal needs a rabies vaccination 30 days to 12 months before entry and a vet-endorsed health certificate, and must enter through N'djili. For the return it needs a microchip, a rabies blood test, a Great Britain pet health certificate and, for dogs, a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before arrival. We confirm each step in writing.
