Private jet charter to Belgium
From the London airfields Belgium is a flight of under an hour, and most of that hour is spent climbing and descending. Private Jets UK treats the country as a set of six usable airports rather than one, because the choice between Brussels, Antwerp, Ostend, Charleroi, Liège and Kortrijk decides how close you land to the meeting, the racetrack or the beach, and whether the aircraft will need a slot. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Belgium that also means the road after landing, because the country is small and densely built: the EU quarter, the diamond district, the medieval centre of Bruges and the Spa circuit lie within a few hours of each other, and the right airport saves most of the drive.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Belgium depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ nonstop to Brussels and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Belgium?
Belgium keeps Central European time and stays one hour ahead of Britain all year, because both countries move their clocks on the same weekends. The sectors below are from British airfields to Brussels, gate to gate, with the taxi and the approach included:
nonstop, 177 nautical miles with the routing allowance, the same figure from London City and Stanstedabout 1 h
nonstop, 199 nautical milesabout 1 h
nonstop, 301 nautical milesabout 1 h 15 min
nonstop, 454 nautical miles, the longest of the regular British departuresabout 1 h 35 min
nonstop, 111 nautical miles, the shortest crossing we sell to a Belgian airportabout 50 min
the airfield is about 12 km north-east of the capital, and the railway station under the terminal reaches Brussels-Schuman, in the European Quarter, in about 15 minutesabout 15 min by rail
A morning in Belgium and the evening at home
Take off from Biggin Hill at eight in the morning and the CJ3+ is on the ground in Brussels at about ten on the Belgian clock. That leaves a full working day, and the return flight lands in Britain in time for dinner. A same-day round trip here is an ordinary booking.
The limits are on the ground, not in the air. Brussels needs a landing slot for every instrument flight, the airport has night restrictions, and the handler's office keeps its own hours, so the return slot is requested together with the outbound one.
Jet or train: when the aircraft earns its price
– Eurostar takes about 1 hour 51 minutes from London to Brussels, and the Folkestone to Calais shuttle crosses in 35 minutes. For one person going to a meeting in the centre of Brussels the train is hard to beat;
– The aircraft wins when the party is four or more, when the luggage is heavy, when the destination is Spa, Knokke or a country house in the Ardennes and not a station platform, or when two cities are visited in one day, because the jet lands at the airport nearest each of them.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Belgium
Typical private jet prices from Britain to Brussels, cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop flight to Brussels Airport. Because the distances are short, the price follows the aircraft class far more than the departure airfield, and the table shows it plainly:
| Route | Aircraft | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|
| Biggin Hill - Brussels 177 nm / 328 km, nonstop |
Citation CJ3+ up to 6 passengers |
from £5,300 |

| Glasgow - Brussels 454 nm / 841 km, nonstop |
Challenger 350 up to 8 passengers |
from £10,850 |
Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Short sectors hit a minimum charge. From every London airfield and from Southampton, Birmingham, Manchester and Bristol the Citation CJ3+ quote is the same £5,300, because the flying time is so short that the minimum, not the distance, sets the price. On the Brussels run the real decision is the cabin: from Biggin Hill a Phenom 300E is £5,700, a Citation XLS+ £6,800 and a Praetor 600 £7,500;
– Belgium adds lines of its own. Brussels is a slot-coordinated airport and handling is compulsory, so the quote carries the handler's fee and the cost of the slot request, and the landing charge differs from airport to airport. Ostend, Antwerp and Liège are not slot-coordinated on the information we have, which is one more reason to compare airports before settling on Brussels.
Private jet flights within Belgium and to its neighbours
Nobody charters a jet to cross Belgium, and the ones who ask are usually positioning an aircraft or saving a long road day. The sectors we are actually asked for are the short hop to the coast, the connections to the cities around the border and the longer flights that use Brussels as a base for the Alps, the Riviera or the Gulf:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brussels - Liège 41 nm / 76 km |

| Brussels - Dubai 2,891 nm / 5,354 km |
Praetor 600 up to 8 passengers |
about 6 h 55 min | from £46,050 |
Two things worth knowing about these sectors
– Inside the country the helicopter replaces the aeroplane. Brussels to Antwerp is only 32 km in a straight line, about 15 minutes by helicopter against the 40 to 50 minutes a car needs on the E19, and the PC-12 sectors to Ostend-Bruges and Liège are mostly positioning flights, for an aircraft that has to be where the client is;
– The neighbours are mostly an hour away or less. Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Cologne and Paris Le Bourget all fall inside the minimum charge for a Citation CJ3+, so they cost the same whether the flight takes 45 minutes or 50. Frankfurt, Zurich, Geneva and Nice are the second ring, and Dubai is the long sector a client based in Brussels asks for when the destination is the Gulf.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Belgium:
Light jets
The natural aircraft for Belgium: one to six people, an hour in the air at most, and a runway requirement short enough for Antwerp, where the runway is 1,510 metres. The price in the title is for this class.
Midsize
Where the cabin starts to matter: more headroom, a larger baggage hold and an enclosed lavatory. Six to eight people with luggage for a week at the coast or in the Ardennes are better placed here.
Super-midsize and large
For delegations, for a board travelling together and for the sector that carries on beyond Brussels to Dubai or New York. These need the longer runways of Brussels, Liège, Ostend or Charleroi.
Heavy and ultra-long range
For ten or more passengers, or when Belgium is the first leg of a longer itinerary. Liège has a runway of 3,690 metres and Brussels three, so length is never the problem; the slot and the stand are.
Turboprops
The aircraft for the hop from Brussels to the coast or the Ardennes, and for the short European legs when a jet's speed is not worth its price. Not for the crossing from Britain, where a jet is faster and costs no more.

For a Belgian booking the nearest suitable aircraft is often not in Britain. Brussels, Antwerp and Kortrijk have their own business-aviation operators, and a positioning leg from any of them can change the price more than the choice of model. We look at the whole map before a number is sent.

Business aviation airports in Belgium
Belgium has six airports that take a business jet from Britain and handle the border on arrival. Brussels carries the weight, Antwerp and Ostend serve the cities and the coast, and Charleroi and Liège are the answer when Brussels cannot give a slot. All times in this section are local, converted from the UTC times in the aeronautical information publication, which lists the summer hour in brackets:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Brussels BRU / EBBR |
Zaventem, about 12 km north-east of the capital, 175 ft above sea level | The gateway for the country and the natural airport for a large jet. Three runways: 07L/25R of 3,638 m and 07R/25L of 3,211 m, both parallel, and 01/19 of 2,987 m, with ILS category III on 25L and 25R. The AIP lists customs, immigration, handling and de-icing as open round the clock, with fuelling also round the clock but limited at night to the cards the chosen fuel company accepts. General aviation has its own terminal area, airside and landside, served by ExecuJet Belgium in Building 28 and by Aviapartner Executive. The AIP lists no hangar space for visiting aircraft |
| Antwerp ANR / EBAW |
Deurne, about 5 km south-east of the city centre, 32 ft above sea level | The city airport, and the right one for the diamond district, the port and the old town. One asphalt runway, 11/29, of about 1,500 m (1,510 m on 11 and 1,502 m on 29), with ILS category I on 29 only, so we quote light and midsize jets here. Open from 07:00 to 23:00 local time, with passenger customs and immigration in the same hours. General aviation handling is compulsory for business flights parked on Apron 1 or at the GA terminal and is provided by ASL Jet Handling and Flyinggroup. Aircraft with a wingspan over 29 m may use only taxiways A and F and Apron 1 |
| Ostend-Bruges OST / EBOS |
about 5 km south-south-west of Ostend and 25 km from Bruges, on the coast | The airport for Bruges, Knokke-Heist and the whole North Sea shore. One concrete and asphalt runway, 08/26, of 3,200 by 45 m, with ILS category I at both ends. The aerodrome, customs and immigration, handling, fuelling and de-icing are listed as open round the clock. The North Sea Aviation Center, a private terminal with its own customs hall, lounges and a hangar, receives general aviation between 08:00 and 20:00 local time and works outside those hours only for the passengers and crews it handles. Handling on Apron 3 is mandatory for visiting aircraft of 2 to 45.5 tonnes |
| Charleroi CRL / EBCI |
about 4 NM north of Charleroi, roughly 45 km south of central Brussels, 606 ft above sea level | Brussels' second airport and the relief valve when Brussels has no slot. Runway 06 is 2,905 m and 24 is 3,055 m, with ILS category II and IIIB on 24 and RNP and VOR approaches on both. Open from 06:30 to 23:00 local time, and closed to movements from 23:00; recertificated civil subsonic jets are barred between 23:00 and 07:00. Handling is compulsory for visiting aircraft, general aviation needs 24 hours' prior permission through the BSCA Business Aviation office, and an unheated hangar of 1,700 square metres is listed for visitors |
| Liège LGG / EBLG |
Grâce-Hollogne, about 9 km west of the city | Belgium's largest cargo airport and one of its best-equipped. A main runway of 3,690 m with ILS category III at both ends, a second of 2,340 m, and customs, immigration, handling, fuelling and de-icing listed as open round the clock. Handling is compulsory above 3 tonnes for aircraft not based there; business jets are served by ASL Jet Handling in a separate zone and by Aviapartner Executive on the main apron. It is the practical airport for Spa-Francorchamps and the Ardennes |
| Kortrijk-Wevelgem KJK / EBKT |
Wevelgem, about 2 NM west of Kortrijk | Also called Flanders International Airport. One asphalt runway, 06/24, of 1,900 by 45 m, with RNP approaches and no ILS. Open from 06:00 to 21:00 local time, with an extension to 23:00 on request and 24 hours' notice. Customs and immigration run to 22:00. Handling is mandatory above 2 tonnes for visiting aircraft and is provided by FIA FBO. A business airport with no scheduled service, it is where we land when the destination is West Flanders or the Lille side of the border |
The small grass and light-aircraft fields at Spa-La Sauvenière, Saint-Hubert and Namur-Suarlée are listed as private airfields and are not places we plan a jet. Four rules settle most Belgian arrivals before a quote goes out:
The slot: Brussels only
Every instrument take-off and landing at Brussels needs a slot unless exempt, and a general aviation request must go through a handling agent, never straight to the coordinator. The slot number is written into the flight plan, and a flight without it is left out of the departure sequence. Requests are answered round the clock, though the coordinator's office keeps weekday hours.
The handler: compulsory at all six
Handling is compulsory for visiting aircraft at Brussels, Antwerp, Ostend, Charleroi, Liège and Kortrijk, each with a weight or apron condition of its own. In practice we book the handler with the aircraft, and it files the slot, the customs notice and the stand.
The night: when the doors close
Brussels restricts taxiing and bars marginally compliant aircraft from 23:00 to 06:00. Charleroi closes to movements at 23:00. Ostend allows aircraft over 8,618 kg at night only if their noise quota count is 12 or less. Antwerp closes at 23:00. Liège, listed as open round the clock and not slot-coordinated, is the airport for a very late arrival.
The size: heavy jets and the 34-tonne line
The Brussels publication lists movement restrictions for jets above 34 tonnes or with more than 19 seats, with exemptions requested in advance. A business liner is planned with the handler weeks ahead, not days.
Fog, cloud and the choice of alternate
Low visibility is a matter of equipment, and the six airports differ in what they can accept. Brussels has category III on two runways and Liège on both ends of its main one, Charleroi has category II and IIIB on runway 24, Ostend and Antwerp have category I, and Kortrijk has no ILS at all. A winter-morning arrival at Antwerp or Kortrijk therefore always carries a named alternate, usually Brussels or Ostend, and the handler warns the car to stand by at both.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and what to carry
Belgium belongs to the European Union and to Schengen, and Britain belongs to neither. A private flight from London therefore arrives as a flight from outside both, and the border is dealt with at the first Belgian airport you land at. All six airports listed above have customs and immigration, although the hours differ.
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa; the passport must have been issued less than ten years before arrival and be valid for at least three months after the planned departureevery passenger, children included
a photo and fingerprints may be taken at the first entry, free of charge, and the record then stays valid for three yearslonger waits are possible; a private terminal keeps them short
British passport holders do not need a visa; where the EU's online ETIAS authorisation applies to a British passport on your date, we tell you before the offer, not on the apronwe check for your date
in the general aviation terminal: ExecuJet and Aviapartner Executive arrange the border at Brussels, the passenger desk at Antwerp is open during airport hours and the North Sea Aviation Center has its own customs hall at Ostendnot on the apron
a disclosure form is due at customs if you carry currency worth ten thousand in the EU's own currency or more, about £8,500 at the rate we usedeclare when in doubt
Aircraft paperwork, goods and the way home
The aircraft brings its own file: a general declaration, a passenger manifest and the crew documents. Passenger customs follow the airport's opening hours, while the clearance of goods at Antwerp and Charleroi is a weekday service, with a fee outside it. A party carrying commercial samples or high-value goods tells us at the booking stage, not at the airport.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, while most other nationalities do. A passenger who is not British should ask us about the visa and the authorisation for both ends of the journey.

Which airport for which part of Belgium
Belgium is small enough that two airports can serve the same city, and the question is which one saves the most road. The map below is built on straight-line distances, so allow more for motorways and for traffic around Brussels and Antwerp:
the Commission and the Council, the hotels around Rue de la Loi and the ministries; the railway to Brussels-Schuman takes about 15 minutes from the airportBrussels
the four diamond exchanges stand close to the Central Station, and the port is the second largest in Europe after Rotterdam; Deurne is about 5 km from the centre, and Brussels is about 45 km away by the E19Antwerp for light and midsize, Brussels for larger jets
the UNESCO centre of Bruges is 25 km from the airport, and the Zoute resort of Knokke-Heist is the richest on the coast; Brussels is more than an hour away by roadOstend-Bruges
Ghent lies about 60 km from both Antwerp and Ostend; Kortrijk is the airport for Ypres, the Leie valley and the French border townsAntwerp, Ostend or Kortrijk
the Meuse city and the motor-racing circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, about half an hour from Liège; the forests and hills of the Ardennes lie beyond itLiège
Wallonia south of Brussels and the way into the Ardennes from the west; when Brussels has no slot on a peak weekend, this is the other airport for the capitalCharleroi
Brussels, Antwerp, the coast and the Ardennes: what our clients go for
Brussels is where most of the business is. The region has about 1.25 million residents and some 2.5 million in the wider urban area, and it is the de facto capital of the European Union: the Commission and the Council sit there, together with the Brussels hemicycle of the Parliament, and NATO has its headquarters at Haren in the north of the city. Delegations arrive for a day of meetings, lawyers and lobbyists fly in for a hearing, and companies hold board meetings that fit between two summits. The region is officially bilingual in French and Dutch, which matters when a handler or a driver is booked.
Antwerp is the second kind of trip. The diamond district beside the Central Station has four exchanges. The port is the second largest in Europe. The fashion scene is tied to the Royal Academy, and its show and graduate exhibitions in June mark a date in the calendar. Deurne is 10 to 15 minutes from the old town by car, which is why a light jet is the natural choice.
The coast is the third. Bruges is a UNESCO World Heritage centre with a bell tower, canals and the Groeninge museum, and it can be walked end to end in about an hour and a half. Knokke-Heist, with the Royal Zoute Golf Club and more than forty galleries, is the richest seaside resort in the country, and in October the Zoute Grand Prix fills it with cars for five days. Zeebrugge is a cruise port about 17 km from Bruges.
Motor racing and forests make up the fourth. Spa-Francorchamps lies in the Ardennes, about half an hour from Liège, and hosts the Belgian Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Spa. The Ardennes themselves are wooded hills of 350 to 400 metres, rising to the 694-metre Signal de Botrange in the province of Liège, the highest point of the country, and they are where Belgians go for walking, cycling, canoeing and shooting weekends. A party with a country house in the Ardennes is usually better placed landing at Liège than at Brussels.
The Belgian year: spring Classics, a festival summer and the Christmas markets
Belgium has no ski season and no single peak. It has a string of weekends, each of which fills the airport nearest to it, and a quiet winter between them:
the Christmas markets run from late November into early January in Brussels, Bruges and Liège, and the city-break trade is steady; the weather is grey and low cloud is the main risk for the schedulecity breaks and the markets
the cycling Classics arrive in April, with the Tour of Flanders at the start of the month and Liège-Bastogne-Liège at the end; Ascension Day brings the Holy Blood procession to Bruges, and the Brussels Jazz Marathon fills the last weekend of MayClassics and spring weekends
the busiest stretch: Ommegang in Brussels at the start of July, Tomorrowland at Boom, the Gentse Feesten in Ghent, the Brussels Summer Festival and the Flower Carpet in August in even-numbered years; the Belgian Grand Prix falls in the summer when it is heldfestival season
the Food Truck Festival in Brussels in the first weekend of September, the Zoute Grand Prix on the coast in October, then the first Christmas markets; shorter days bring the fog backautumn races and the first markets
The Belgian calendar: Classics, festivals and Christmas markets
Dated events are numerous, and each one pulls the private flights toward a different airport:
What a Belgian event does to a flight plan
The peaks are weekends and the airports are small. Brussels night rules matter on a Grand Prix weekend, the apron at Liège can be reserved or restricted for the event, and Tomorrowland sends light jets and helicopters to Antwerp and Brussels in the same hours. A request sent as soon as the dates are known gives the slot, the stand and the driver time to line up.

Flying to Belgium with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat travels in the cabin, and the paperwork has two halves: the standard European set for the way out and one appointment for the way home. Belgium applies the rules of the European Union, and Britain is a listed country, so no blood test is needed for an animal from Great Britain.
The one fact to read before you book
The animal must carry a microchip and a rabies vaccination given from the age of 12 weeks and valid only after 21 days, so the youngest animal that can travel is 15 weeks old. A health certificate from an official vet must be issued within ten days before departure. By air the animal goes to customs immediately on arrival at the airport, because Belgium admits pets only through a designated travellers' point of entry. More than five animals fall under the rules for commercial movements.
Coming home is where the diary matters. A dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 and no more than 120 hours before it arrives in Great Britain, with the product, date and time entered in the document, and a cat does not. The certificate issued in Britain is used for the journey back as the certificate states. Because the treatment window is short, we book a vet near the hotel or near the departure airport alongside the flight.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination, not after;
- A rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks or later, at least 21 days old on the day of arrival and kept in date;
- An official veterinary health certificate for each trip, issued no more than ten days before departure;
- For a dog on the homeward leg, the tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before landing in Great Britain;
- Not more than five animals per traveller.
Cats need the same list without the worming. Not every airport is set up to receive an animal at the customs desk, so we confirm in writing with the handler that the chosen airport takes the animal, and if it does not, the flight goes to Brussels.
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Belgium is a short hop from Britain, so repositioning flights run in both directions all year, though the discounts are modest because the sectors are short.
Where Belgian empty legs come from
– Brussels is a business capital, and aircraft arrive full for a day of meetings and go home empty in the evening or the next morning, which is a common source;
– The event weekends that fill the aprons, from the cycling Classics in April and the festival season in July to the Zoute Grand Prix in October, when aircraft land full and leave empty a day or two later;
– Aircraft based in Belgium or in the Netherlands that position to Britain for a client and return, which is why a London departure can match a Belgian arrival.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date and a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Belgian empty legs follows:

Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £2,850 |
| Belgium (Brussels) - UK (Bristol) nonstop |
Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £3,150 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Belgium (Brussels) nonstop |
Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £4,400 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Citation XLS+ from Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £350 a head;
– Short legs have a floor under the price, so the discount on a Belgian sector is smaller than on a long one.

Helicopter charter
In Belgium a helicopter saves the stretch between the airport and the destination, not the crossing from Britain. These are our estimates from Brussels Airport, calculated at about 115 knots with a few minutes for the start and the landing:
the city and the diamond district, in place of 40 to 50 minutes on the E19about 15 min
the Meuse city and the gateway to the Ardennesabout 30 min
the Zoute resort, which has no airfield of its ownabout 35 min
the circuit and the Ardennes, a long drive on a race weekendabout 40 min
the coast airport and Brugesabout 40 min
These are estimates and move with the weather and the load. The types listed for the coast include the Airbus H125 and H130 and the Bell 429. We confirm the aircraft, the route, the number of passengers and the baggage allowance for your date before the offer goes out.
Two points on Belgian rotary legs
The aeronautical information publication requires permission from the responsible authority before a helicopter lands at a listed heliport or helistrip, hospital helipads are reserved for medical flights, and a landing at a site outside the publication, such as a hotel lawn or a racetrack paddock, needs the landowner's permission. Antwerp has two helicopter pads on the airport, called H2 and H3, and Liège confines helicopters to a designated zone. On a race weekend or at Tomorrowland the seats go first, so the helicopter and the jet are booked together.

Belgian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
BRUSSELS · A DAY IN THE EUROPEAN QUARTER
Two directors and a hearing at noon
Biggin Hill - Brussels, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h · 2 pax
Wheels up at eight, a car at the door of the general aviation terminal, a morning of meetings and lunch. They were back in Britain for dinner, and the handler had filed both slots the day before.
ANTWERP · THE DIAMOND DISTRICT
A buyer and a colleague for a day of viewing
London City - Antwerp, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h · 2 pax
Deurne was chosen for the distance to the old town, and the light jet for the 1,510-metre runway. The party landed before ten, the stones were viewed near the Central Station, and the return flight left before the airport closed at 23:00 local time.
SPA · A RACE WEEKEND
Six guests and a hospitality package
London Luton - Liège, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 05 min · 6 pax
Liège was chosen over Brussels because it is closer to the circuit, listed as open round the clock and not slot-coordinated. The stand was agreed in advance, because event weekends can restrict the apron.
KNOKKE · THE ZOUTE WEEK
Four friends and a car-week in October
Farnborough - Ostend-Bruges, Phenom 300E, about 50 min · 4 pax
The North Sea Aviation Center took the party through its own customs hall, and the aircraft left empty the same afternoon and returned on the Sunday.
WITH THE DOG · TAPEWORM FIRST
A couple and a spaniel on a long weekend
Manchester - Brussels, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 15 min · 2 pax + dog
The certificate was dated six days before departure, the dog went to customs on arrival, and a vet near the hotel gave the tapeworm treatment on the Friday afternoon, inside the window for the Sunday flight home.
EMPTY LEG · AFTER THE MEETINGS
A flexible return to London
Brussels - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 1 h · 3 pax
The client gave us a window of two days instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £2,250, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, for a Wednesday departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Belgium
1How long does it take to fly to Belgium by private jet?
About 1 hour from Biggin Hill to Brussels in a Citation CJ3+, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Manchester in a Citation XLS+ and about 1 hour 35 minutes from Glasgow in a Challenger 350. Belgium is one hour ahead of Britain all year, so a morning departure from London gives a full working day on the ground and an evening return.
2How much does a private jet to Belgium cost?
From about £5,300 one way from Biggin Hill to Brussels on a Citation CJ3+, and the same figure from the other London airfields, because short sectors fall under a minimum charge. A Phenom 300E from Biggin Hill is about £5,700, a Praetor 600 about £7,500 and a Challenger 350 from Glasgow about £10,850. A hop from Brussels to Amsterdam on a CJ3+ starts from £5,300.
3Which airports do private jets use in Belgium?
Brussels is the gateway for large jets, with customs and immigration listed round the clock and two handlers, ExecuJet and Aviapartner Executive. Antwerp suits light and midsize jets, Ostend-Bruges serves the coast, Charleroi is the second airport for Brussels, Liège takes anything round the clock, and Kortrijk-Wevelgem serves West Flanders.
4What are the passport and customs rules for a private flight from Britain to Belgium?
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180 without a visa, and the passport must be less than ten years old on arrival and valid for three months after departure. Photos and fingerprints may be taken under the Entry/Exit System. Passengers clear passport and customs at the general aviation terminal, and a disclosure form is due for cash worth ten thousand in the EU's currency or more. Handling is compulsory at every Belgian airport, and Brussels needs a landing slot.
5Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Belgium?
Yes. The animal needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination given from 12 weeks and valid after 21 days, and an official health certificate issued within ten days before departure, and it goes to customs immediately on arrival. A dog coming home needs a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before it lands in Great Britain, so we book a vet for the day before the flight.
6How early should I book a private jet to Belgium?
As soon as the dates are known. Brussels requires a landing slot for every instrument flight, and the weekends of the cycling Classics in April, the festivals in July, the Belgian Grand Prix when it is held and the Zoute Grand Prix in October fill the aprons first. For a late arrival we plan Liège, which is listed as open round the clock.
