Private jet charter in Cagliari
A jet that leaves the London fields after breakfast is over southern Sardinia in about two and a half hours, but the island has three airports that sit hours apart by road, and the wrong choice costs a day. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around the airport that really matches your destination, the season and the length of the stay. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Cagliari is the southern door: one long runway, a general aviation terminal of its own, a real city on the doorstep and a very different pace from the Costa Smeralda, which is a different airport and a different trip.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Cagliari depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Phenom 300E and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Cagliari?
Two and a half hours from Biggin Hill, three from Edinburgh or Glasgow, and one hour of clock difference to remember on landing, because Sardinia keeps Central European time. At 851 to 1178 nautical miles this is the long end of short-haul. A light jet will do it, and a Phenom 300E does it fast, but it is a sit of two and a half hours and the cabin you choose matters more than on Paris or Milan. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and the wheels touch the runway at Elmas around half past ten local time. The airport sits about 7 km from the centre of Cagliari, so a client who left a London office door at half past five can be at lunch on the Poetto seafront by one. The beaches and resorts that fill the south of the island are further: Forte Village is about 47 km and Villasimius about 62 km by road. Add the drive to the British airfield and the processing at both ends and the whole journey from central London to a table in Cagliari comes to roughly four and a half hours.
Light jet or midsize: what decides it on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, a Phenom 300E or a CJ3+ is the sensible answer, and a Citation XLS+ on the same sector from Biggin Hill is priced about £2,800 higher one way. That difference buys the villa car for a week;
– Past that, or with beach luggage, golf bags, a pushchair or a dog, we quote a midsize jet beside it so you see both figures. A family on a summer fortnight carries far more than the passenger list suggests, and the hold decides;
– Heavy aircraft make sense for a large party, or when the same aircraft stays with you across several Mediterranean stops, or when Sardinia is only the first leg of something longer.

Private jet flights from Cagliari
Cagliari sits at the southern end of an island and the first question is often not where to fly next but whether to fly at all, because the north of Sardinia is a long drive away. Olbia and Alghero are short turboprop hops, Palermo, Rome and Milan are business sectors under an hour and a half, and Nice or Palma are a light jet away. Typical one-way prices:

Olbia from Cagliari: why the island needs an aircraft
By road the Costa Smeralda is a long way from the capital: Cagliari to Olbia is about 264 km and roughly three hours on a good day, and to Porto Cervo allow around 3 hours 15 minutes. A Pilatus PC-12 covers the 104 nautical miles to Olbia in about 55 min, which is why a party that lands at Cagliari for one half of a trip and the Costa Smeralda for the other often takes a turboprop between the two instead of a car. The honest alternative is to fly the London jet straight to Olbia, and for a trip that is only about the Costa Smeralda we say so.
Before you accept an onward quote from Cagliari
– Which airport, and which end of the day. Elmas is listed as open round the clock, but its general aviation terminal is staffed from 8:00 to 20:00 and later only by prior arrangement, so a quote for an evening departure should show the extension fee;
– Whether the aircraft stays or goes home. In peak season jets that drop passengers on the Costa Smeralda often reposition to Cagliari, Alghero or the mainland rather than wait on a crowded apron, and each of those legs can appear in a quote. Ask what is included;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. London to Cagliari, then Olbia, then home arranged as a single trip costs noticeably less than three separate quotes, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning each time.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Cagliari:
Light jets, for couples and small parties
At two and a half hours this is the class for three or four people with beach bags. The 2,804 m runway at Elmas is far longer than any of these needs, so you pay for the hour and not for capability you will not use.
Midsize, for families and a fortnight of luggage
Buggies, snorkelling kit, golf bags and a week of evening clothes are what push a summer party past the light-jet hold, and the taller cabin is welcome on the longer sectors from Scotland.
Super-midsize and large
For a family or a team travelling as one group, for a crew that wants the same aircraft through several Mediterranean stops, and for trips that carry on from the island rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops inside Sardinia: Olbia and Alghero are under an hour in the air, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a bay with no road worth the name, a villa lawn or a hotel pad on the south coast. The landing site is agreed with the operator before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Sardinia sits inside the Mediterranean fleet, so for a booking that is not in the peak weeks there is usually an aircraft within a couple of hours of Elmas, and in August the same operators often have a jet that has just dropped its passengers on the north coast and is looking for a way home.

Business aviation airports in Cagliari
Three airports carry the private traffic of Sardinia, and they are far enough apart that choosing between them is the main decision of the whole trip. Cagliari is the south, and the table says what each of the others is good for.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Cagliari Elmas (Mario Mameli) CAG / LIEE |
The answer for the city and the whole south. A single asphalt runway, 14/32, of 2,804 m, about 7 km from the centre of Cagliari and 4 m above sea level, with an instrument approach and fire category 8. It is slot coordinated and handling is required. Business aircraft use the General Aviation Terminal, where the handling company SOGAERDYN, listed on the airport operator's own site, takes passengers through police, security and customs, and the handlers there supply fuel, ground power, cleaning and towing for aircraft up to the size of a 747 |
| Olbia Costa Smeralda OLB / LIEO |
The airport for the north-east and the Costa Smeralda, about 264 km from Cagliari by road. A concrete and asphalt runway, 05/23, of 2,745 m, run by the Geasar company, with a private-aviation terminal operated by Eccelsa Aviation. Private traffic here peaks from late June to early September, and the middle weeks of August are the tightest. Porto Cervo is 25 to 30 minutes by road |
| Alghero Fertilia AHO / LIEA |
The north-west: Alghero itself, the Stintino coast and the west. A 3,000 m runway, 02/20, about 8 km north-north-west of the town, which is longer than either of the others. By road Porto Cervo is around two and a half hours away, so it is not a Costa Smeralda airport, but in August jets that have dropped passengers elsewhere sometimes park here |
Four points settle most Cagliari arrivals:
Choose the handler
Handling at the General Aviation Terminal is done by SOGAERDYN, and the airport operator also lists Argos VPH Group and Aeroservice as executive handling agents. The terminal arranges concierge, catering, limousine transfers and heli-taxi on request. We ask the operator which handler it prefers and give the driver the terminal, not simply the airport.
Hours, slots and the evening fee
The airport is listed as open round the clock, with slots required and handling mandatory. The General Aviation Terminal itself is open from 8:00 to 20:00 and at any other hour on written request. Outside those hours an extension fee of about £130 plus VAT per hour applies, and a cancellation within 12 hours of the requested opening costs one hour of it. We put the request in with the booking.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border inside the terminal. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months after departure. A first-time visitor may be sent to a registration booth for a photograph and fingerprints, so allow a little extra time.
Car and the last miles
Elmas is close to the city and far from the resorts. Forte Village is about 47 km and 40 minutes in light traffic, Villasimius about 62 km and an hour, longer on summer afternoons. Give us the address as well as the flight, and in July and August put the car in the quote from the start, because the single-lane stretches slow everything down.

Border, passport and the way home
The arrival is simple. You land at Elmas, the police check the passports inside the General Aviation Terminal and the car is at the door. The trip home is the one to plan. Britain is outside Schengen, so on the way back the passengers pass passport control as well as customs, and most visitors who need no visa still need an electronic travel authorisation, with British and Irish citizens exempt. The aircraft's General Aviation Report goes in not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and landing at an aerodrome that is not regulated brings a fine of £2,500.

From the apron to the Poetto
Cagliari is the capital and largest city of Sardinia, with about 146,000 residents and a metropolitan area of around 536,000. It rises from one of the Mediterranean's busier ports to the medieval Castello quarter on its hill, with Marina, Stampace and Villanova below, and a Roman amphitheatre just to the west of Castello. At its eastern edge the Sella del Diavolo, the Devil's Saddle, marks the end of the Poetto, the city beach, which runs for about 8 km. The distances that matter for a visitor run outward, to the resort coast, to the interior and to the other end of the island.
about 7 km, which is why the airport and the city feel like one placeabout 7 km
about 47 km, and the single-lane section of the coast road slows summer afternoonsabout 40 minutes
about 62 km along the SS125 coast road, up to about 70 minutes at the evening peakabout 1 hour
a Bronze Age nuraghe settlement on the UNESCO list, about 60 km from the cityabout 60 km
about 264 km, against under an hour in a turbopropabout 3 hours
the drive that decides which airport the Costa Smeralda trip should useabout 3 h 15 min
What private clients do here splits by season. In spring and autumn the city itself is the programme: the Castello and Stampace districts, the Roman remains, the harbour, a day inland to the nuraghe at Barumini. In summer the beach takes over, the Poetto comes alive in the evenings, with clubs and live music mostly from June to September, and the resort coast to the south and east fills with villas and hotels. The sea is above 21 degrees from the end of May and about 26 degrees in August, and Cagliari itself is hot, with summer highs that can slightly exceed 40 degrees during heat waves.
The south has a gentler reputation than the Costa Smeralda and in practice it is quieter, with the same warm water and far fewer jets on the apron. Business travel is real but small: the port, the Macchiareddu industrial area and the Sarroch refinery are the heavy end of the economy, and the university, with about 35,000 students, is the largest in Sardinia. A delegation visit, a boat or a villa week and a long lunch in the old town is an ordinary programme.
Flying to Cagliari with a dog or a cat
Italy asks for more paperwork than the flight takes, and for a pet the flight is short enough that most animals sleep through it. The animal sits beside you in the cabin with no hold involved. What matters is that the certificate is dated correctly, because it has a ten-day life from the day it is issued.

What Italy asks for:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or on the same day, never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, issued no more than ten days before the animal enters the EU, and valid for the return as stated on the certificate;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at the first point of entry into the EU, which the handler coordinates at the terminal;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Cagliari run
– The tapeworm treatment is for the way home, not the way out, so it is a vet appointment you book in the south of the island, towards the end of the stay. A villa fortnight is long enough to fit it in comfortably, and a long weekend is not, so on a short stay choose the date first;
– A GB pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate has to be a fresh one for each trip, and a dog whose rabies vaccination lapses while it is away loses the right to come back on it;
– In July and August the apron is hot and the drive to the resorts is slow. Tell us about the dog in the first message, so that the car, the hotel and any boat or helicopter transfer accept it before the quote, and back in Britain we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Cagliari calendar: a festival in spring and the beach from June
Cagliari does not keep a trade-fair diary like a northern city. Its year has two shapes: a religious festival in the first days of May that fills the old districts, and a summer that begins at the end of May and peaks in the middle of August. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why an August week costs more
Not the flying. The fleet around Italy and southern France is large and Sardinia sits comfortably inside it. What gets tight is the apron, the slot and the car, all in the same fortnight, and the fixed shape of the trip: every guest wants the same Saturday. A booking made a fortnight before Ferragosto can still be done, but it pays more and may use an aircraft positioned from the mainland. The same booking made several weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper, and outside June to early September a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Cagliari price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The weeks either side of the peak are quieter and cheaper than the middle of August, and the sea is already warm in June;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Rome, Milan or Nice takes less positioning than one from Britain, and on a long sector positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
- Choose the airport that matches the stay. Landing at Cagliari for a Costa Smeralda holiday saves nothing on the flight and costs three hours on the road each way;
- Leave within the terminal's hours. A departure before 20:00 avoids the extension fee that applies outside the General Aviation Terminal's hours.
Types of flights
Cagliari produces a different mix from the Italian mainland cities we cover, because the airport is an island gateway first and a business airport second.
- Summer villa and resort travel to the south and east coasts, usually families and friends who stay a week or two;
- Short city breaks in spring and autumn, with the old districts and the interior as the programme;
- Festival travel around Sant'Efisio in the first days of May;
- Port, industry and energy business, small in volume but fixed in date;
- Sardinian loops, landing at Cagliari and leaving from Olbia or Alghero, or the other way round, so that the aircraft never waits for you.
The day trip is worth a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for. At two and a half hours each way it is a long day, but a morning on the ground in Cagliari, lunch and a return the same evening is possible, and we quote it both ways so the difference against two one-way charters is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Sardinian routes they follow the season and the weekend change-over, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Cagliari empty legs come from
– Summer change-over days. Aircraft bring one villa party in on the Saturday and take another home, and the sector that finds no passenger on the day is the one offered;
– Repositioning in the peak. In August jets that have dropped passengers on the Costa Smeralda move to Cagliari, Alghero or the mainland, and these short legs and the longer ones back to the mainland bases are released at short notice;
– Festival weekends. Sant'Efisio brings aircraft in for one weekend, and the empty departures that follow it are the ones most often offered.
Because the Sardinian corridors are thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Cagliari match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Cagliari a helicopter is a tool for the coast. The city is compact and the airport is close, but the resorts are along a road that slows in summer, and the places where rotary flight changes the day are the bays, the villas and the marinas. The airport operator lists heli-taxi among the transfers its general aviation team can arrange, alongside limousine, boat and yacht.
about 47 km by road, and the coast road is where the summer time is lostroad: about 40 min
about 62 km along the SS125, and the longest of the usual transfersroad: about 1 hour
about 186 km direct against about 264 km by road, for the party that wants the north coast and the south in one tripabout 186 km direct
a similar hop to the north-west, about 167 km directabout 167 km direct
possible only with the landowner, the operator and the authorities agreeing the sitesite approval first
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. Landings outside an aerodrome need the landowner's consent and the operator's confirmation of the site, so a villa lawn or a hotel pad has its status checked before we quote, not after;
– Heat and weather set the schedule. High summer temperatures reduce what a helicopter can lift, so loads and bags are checked in advance, and a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Twin-engine machines are the sensible choice over water, and in the middle of August rotary capacity is the first thing to run out. Book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is none.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short coast work, the wider H130 for villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Cagliari charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
SUMMER VILLA · THE LUGGAGE BOOKED THE CABIN
Six people and a fortnight near Villasimius
Farnborough - Cagliari, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 30 min · 6 pax
Beach kit, a pushchair and enough clothes for two weeks took the hold well beyond what a light jet carries comfortably, so the quote moved up a class for the luggage and not for the seats. The car met the aircraft at the General Aviation Terminal and the villa was an hour down the coast road.
THE OTHER AIRPORT WON
A group for the Costa Smeralda
London City - Olbia, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 15 min · 5 pax
They had asked for Cagliari because it is the name everyone knows. The villa was near Porto Cervo, about three hours and a quarter from Elmas by road and under half an hour from Olbia. The same aircraft, a similar flying time and three hours less in a car. The only cost was asking where the villa was before quoting.
SANT'EFISIO · A SPRING WEEKEND
Four friends for the festival
Manchester - Cagliari, Citation Latitude, about 2 h 45 min · 4 pax
A long weekend built around the first days of May, with a hotel in the old town and a place on the procession route in Stampace. The booking went in six weeks ahead, because the city fills, and the return was fixed for the morning after the procession's last evening.
MID-AUGUST · THE AIRCRAFT MOVED OUT
A family week on the Costa Smeralda
Birmingham - Olbia, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 30 min · 8 pax
The apron at Olbia was full, so the jet dropped the family and flew on to Cagliari to wait. The positioning legs appeared in the quote from the start, along with the return to Olbia on the day, and the family found no surprises on the invoice. Ask what is included, especially in August.
A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a June fortnight
Southampton - Cagliari, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 25 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Sardinia for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the villa took the dog, and everything was settled in a single exchange of messages.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING HOME
A jet already going your way
Cagliari - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 30 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the week and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Cagliari
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Cagliari?
About 2 hours 25 minutes from Biggin Hill, London City or Farnborough in a Phenom 300E, and around 2 hours 30 minutes from Luton, covering roughly 851 to 888 nautical miles. From Bristol, Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 40 to 2 hours 45, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 3 hours 5 minutes. Sardinia keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands around half past ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Cagliari cost?
From about £11,650 one way on a Phenom 300E out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £12,100 from Luton. A midsize cabin from Bristol, Cardiff or Birmingham runs £15,350 to £15,800, and from Scotland allow £23,500 to £23,750. Late June to early September, and above all the middle weeks of August, price above these figures.
3Which Sardinian airport should a private jet use?
Cagliari Elmas (CAG / LIEE) for the south: the city, Forte Village, Villasimius and the south-east coast. It has a 2,804 m runway, about 7 km from the city centre, and a general aviation terminal with customs. For the Costa Smeralda use Olbia (OLB / LIEO), because Cagliari is about three hours from Olbia by road. Alghero (AHO / LIEA) serves the north-west.
4Can a private jet land at Cagliari late in the evening?
Yes. The airport is listed as open round the clock, and its general aviation terminal is staffed from 8:00 to 20:00 and at any other hour on written request. Outside those hours the operator charges an extension fee of about £130 plus VAT per hour, and a request cancelled with less than 12 hours' notice costs one hour of that fee. We file the request with the booking.
5When should I book a private jet to Cagliari?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For late June to early September, and especially the middle weeks of August, allow several weeks, because slots, apron space and cars all tighten together. The Sant'Efisio festival in the first days of May also fills the city, so book that weekend early.
6Can I take my dog to Cagliari on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you. Italy asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older with 21 days elapsed, and an Animal Health Certificate issued within ten days of entry. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
