Private jet charter in Tampere
A London field and Tampere are a little over 1,000 nautical miles apart, which puts a light jet on the ground in about two and a half hours and leaves the day for whatever the trip is really about: a meeting at one of the factories around the city, a hockey night at the Nokia Arena, a weekend at Särkänniemi with the children, a sauna on the lakeshore. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around that purpose. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Tampere-Pirkkala has one 2,700 m runway, no hangar for visiting aircraft and four handling companies on its published list, so the choices that matter are the handler, the winter plan and, if a dog or a cat is travelling, the airport where the animal is cleared.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Tampere depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Phenom 300E and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Tampere?
Allow between about 2 hours 25 minutes and 2 hours 55 minutes, depending on where in Britain you start, and put your watch two hours forward on landing: Finland keeps Eastern European time and changes its clocks on the same dates as Britain. The sectors in the table run from 914 to 1,109 nautical miles, which is comfortable for a light jet and a long way inside the range of anything larger. That makes Tampere one of the Nordic sectors where the smaller cabin is a genuine option rather than a compromise, and the table shows the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London field at eight in the morning and, with a flight of about 2 h 35 min and the two-hour clock change, you land at Tampere-Pirkkala a little after half past twelve local time. The airport stands 7 nautical miles (13 km) south-west of the city centre, in Pirkkala, and a car takes you to the lakeshore hotels and Tampere Hall in about twenty minutes. A scheduled journey from Britain normally means Helsinki and a Pendolino train of about an hour and a half, or a connection through Riga, and takes most of a day.
Light jet or midsize on a sector of two and a half hours
– Two or three people with cabin bags can sit in a Phenom 300E for the whole sector, and a midsize cabin costs noticeably more. Most Tampere trips are business or city breaks with modest luggage, so the light jet is the aircraft we quote first;
– A delegation of six to eight, or a family with a pushchair and the ski bags for a later leg to Lapland, is where the midsize cabin earns its price. Tell us the bag count together with the passenger count, because in a light jet it is the hold that runs out first;
– A heavy jet is for a large party moving as one, for a company group that carries on to Stockholm or Zurich, or for a client who wants a stand-up cabin all the way. Before we quote one we check the stand and the rescue category with the handler, as described below.

A Tampere trip is usually a round trip to Britain or Central Europe, but the same aircraft can also work the north and the Baltic. Helsinki is a short hop, Stockholm, Tallinn and Riga are an hour or less in a light jet, and Lapland is just over an hour away for a party that wants to ski or see the aurora after the meetings are done. Finland from the air: when the aircraft beats the Pendolino
Helsinki-Vantaa is only 80 nautical miles from Tampere, about 40 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, while the Pendolino from Helsinki takes about an hour and a half and the drive about two hours. From station to station the train is hard to beat, and we say so. The aircraft earns its fee when the Helsinki end is the airport itself, for a party that changes from a long-haul flight to a private connection, for a group that cannot be split between seats, or for a day in which Tampere is only one of several stops. Rovaniemi is 327 nautical miles away, about 1 h 05 min in a Phenom 300E, and Kittilä is 394 nautical miles, about 1 h 15 min, which makes a Lapland weekend after a Tampere week a single arrangement with one crew.
Before you accept an onward quote
– Check the border side. Stockholm, Tallinn, Riga and Copenhagen lie in Schengen with Finland, so those legs have no passport control on arrival, while Oslo and Zurich are in Schengen but outside the EU customs area, so goods checks can apply;
– Check the aircraft against the field at the far end. A Lapland airport in winter has its own handling hours, de-icing and stand rules, and a heavy jet that suits Tampere may not suit the small fields in the north;
– Check whether the legs are one booking. A week across Tampere, Helsinki and Tallinn costs less as a single trip, because the aircraft and the crew stay with you instead of flying back to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Tampere:
Light jets, for a small party and light bags
At about two and a half hours a light cabin is comfortable for a business trip of two or three people with cabin bags, and it is the cheapest sensible way to reach Tampere. The Phenom 300E and the CJ4 have the range with a margin, and a larger jet adds cost without adding anything the party needs.
Midsize, for a delegation or a family
Four to eight people with laptops, presentation material or the family's bags is where the cabin and the hold stop being a compromise. A fuel stop is not needed on this sector, and a midsize jet is also the usual choice for a party that carries on to Lapland.
Super-midsize and large
For a group of ten or more, a company party travelling as one, or an owner who wants the full cabin on a sector that crosses the Baltic. Large aircraft need the stand and the rescue category checked with the handler in advance.
Turboprops
The aircraft for Finland itself: Helsinki is about 40 minutes in the air, Oulu about 1 h 10 min, and on distances like these a turboprop is far cheaper to run than a jet. From Britain the sector is too long for one.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch to a lakeside hotel, a run to a site outside the city or a scenic flight over the two lakes. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote is written.

This is a small part of what is available. Tampere is a regional airfield and not a business jet hub, so an aircraft is more often found in Helsinki or Stockholm than on the apron next door, and the cost of positioning from there is a visible part of some quotes. That is why the date you choose and the aircraft base matter more here than the model.

Business aviation airports in Tampere
One airport does the work for the city. The others on this list matter as a back-up, for a trip whose real destination is elsewhere in southern Finland, or because a quote names them and you should know why.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Tampere-Pirkkala TMP / EFTP |
The answer for the city and for almost every jet trip to Pirkanmaa. It lies in Pirkkala, 7 nautical miles (13 km) south-west of the centre, at an elevation of 391 feet, and has a single asphalt runway, 06/24, of 2,700 by 45 metres, with a CAT I instrument landing system on runway 24. The aeronautical information lists the aerodrome and the control tower as open 24 hours, rescue and fire-fighting category 7, Jet A-1 on one hour's notice and de-icing on request. It also lists no hangar space for visiting aircraft. The same field is the base of the Finnish Air Force's Satakunta Air Command, so business jets share a runway with military traffic, and a small scheduled timetable adds the airBaltic flights to Riga |
| Helsinki-Vantaa HEL / EFHK |
The gateway for connections and the first plan B, 80 nautical miles from Tampere, about two hours by road. Finavia runs a Business Flights terminal there, open 24 hours with customs, immigration and security on site and a hangar subject to availability, and Jetflite runs a second FBO that lists a hangar for aircraft up to the size of a Gulfstream G450 or a Global 6000. It is also the only airport the Finnish Food Authority lists for pets arriving by air from outside the EU, which is why a trip with a dog starts here and ends with a short domestic leg to Tampere |
| Turku TKU / EFTU |
A Finavia airport 8 km north of Turku, 69 nautical miles from Tampere, with an asphalt runway, 08/26, of 2,500 metres. It is on the Finnish list of border crossing airports and makes sense when the real destination is Turku or the archipelago, or as a second alternative when weather closes both Tampere and Helsinki. For Tampere itself it adds a long drive |
| Pori POR / EFPO |
A smaller Finavia airport on the west coast, 2.6 km south of the town and 54 nautical miles from Tampere, with a main runway, 12/30, of 2,351 metres. It is also a border crossing airport, so it can take a first landing from Britain, but it is a back-up for the western part of Pirkanmaa and Satakunta, and not a gateway for the city |
Four points settle most Tampere arrivals:
Choose the handler
The aeronautical information lists four handling companies at Tampere-Pirkkala, Airpro, Inter Handling Finland, JetFlite and Joen Service, available on request. We name the handler and agree the walk from the aircraft to the car in writing before you pay, because the published sources do not describe a stand-alone terminal for business aircraft. Jet A-1 is uplifted on one hour's notice, and de-icing is booked with the handler at the same time as the arrival. Give the car company the handler as well as the flight number.
Slots, stands and the missing hangar
The aeronautical information publishes no slot procedure for the aerodrome, so the arrival time is agreed with the handler. The main apron has ten stands, and one of them is limited to a wingspan of 30 metres, so we ask for the stand when the aircraft is a large one. There is no hangar for visiting aircraft, which means a jet that stays for several days stands outside in winter, and the rescue category is 7, which covers the large business jets we normally quote; for a VIP airliner we confirm the category first. The night landing runway is 06 and the take-off runway is 24, which matters if you plan a late arrival.
Border and passport
Finland is in Schengen and the EU, and Britain is not, so you pass passport control and customs on arrival. Tampere-Pirkkala is on the Finnish list of border crossing airports, and the aeronautical information gives customs and immigration on four hours' notice. The pilot sends the flight plan and passenger identity details to the border guard. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months beyond the day you leave. Registration under the EU entry and exit system takes a photo and fingerprints and is free, but leave a few extra minutes for it.
Cold, snow and the runway
Tampere has four distinct seasons. The winter months average below minus 3 degrees Celsius and cold snaps can reach minus 30, and snow cover lasts four to five months, from late November to early April. The instrument landing system serves runway 24 only, and the airport has approved low visibility take-off procedures, so a foggy winter morning is a matter for the crew. Leave time for de-icing in the schedule, and book the transfer for the handler's door.

Border, passport and the way home
Because Finland is inside Schengen, the first landing is where the formalities happen, and everything after that, a hop to Helsinki or a drive to Mänttä, is free of border control. A first landing at Tampere is possible, because the airport is on the Finnish border crossing list, and that saves a stop for passengers; it is for animals that the picture changes, as the pets section below explains. A foreign operator's commercial charter that carries passengers in and out of Finland needs permission from the Finnish transport agency, requested at least 48 hours ahead and not counting weekends and public holidays, while a non-commercial private flight needs no such permission, only the flight plan and passenger details. We check which category your booking falls into when we confirm the operator. The way home runs the other way. Britain treats the aircraft as arriving from abroad, so a General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and passengers pass the border at the British airfield. Visitors who need no visa for Britain still need an Electronic Travel Authorisation unless they are British or Irish citizens. You declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to duty, since the EU ban on bringing meat, milk and products containing them applies to what you carry into Finland.

From the apron to the lakes
Tampere is the third-largest city in Finland, with about 260,000 residents, and the most populous inland city in the Nordic countries. It stands on the isthmus between Näsijärvi and Pyhäjärvi, two lakes whose levels differ by 18 metres and which are joined by the Tammerkoski rapids, the rapids on which the Finlayson textile mill and, later, the pulp mill from which Nokia grew were built. The city is the capital of Pirkanmaa, a region of more than half a million people. Industry provides over half of the region's exports and jobs, and Business Tampere puts 80 per cent of Finnish industry within two hours of the city, which explains why so many private flights here are business trips. The rest is a long list of reasons to stay for the weekend.
Särkänniemi, on a peninsula about a kilometre from the centre, holds an amusement park, an aquarium, a planetarium, a children's zoo, the Sara Hildén Art Museum and the Näsinneula tower, which is 168 metres high. Tampere Hall, about half a kilometre from the railway station, is described as the largest congress centre in the Nordic countries and is the home of the city's opera and philharmonic orchestra; the Moomin Museum is in the same complex. Nokia Arena stands close to the station on a deck built over the railway line, and next to it is the Lapland Hotels Arena. Tampere also claims the largest number of public saunas in Finland, among them the oldest one still in use, Rajaportti, in the workers' district of Pispala, and the sauna at Kaupinoja, on the shore of Näsijärvi.

Flying to Tampere with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of a Finnish trip that needs planning. The flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold. Finland adds a fixed airport for the animal check, and the dates on the certificate need the same care.

What Finland, as an EU country, asks for:
- An ISO microchip (standard 11784, FDX-B or HDX) that can be read with a standard scanner, fitted before the rabies vaccination;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with the 21-day wait observed after the first vaccination and the vaccination still valid on the day of entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate issued by an official veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate, together with the owner's declaration that the journey is not commercial. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller. The Finnish Food Authority lists Helsinki-Vantaa as the only airport where a pet arriving from outside the EU can be presented to customs, and Tampere-Pirkkala is not on that list, so we confirm in writing that the rule applies to your private flight, plan the first landing at Helsinki, clear the animal there, and fly on to Tampere as a domestic leg;
- A tapeworm treatment for dogs, given by a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the dog arrives in Finland and recorded on the certificate. Cats do not need it. A dog flying directly home from Finland to Britain needs no further treatment, which is required only if it has been in another country or the routing includes one, and we confirm that in writing.
What catches owners out on a trip to Tampere
– The Helsinki stop is not optional for the animal. It adds a leg and a landing to the quote, and about 30 minutes of flying in a midsize jet on to Tampere, but without it the entry-point rule may not be met. The whole party clears at Helsinki with the dog, and we price the two legs as one trip and confirm the entry point with the handler in writing;
– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment you book at home before the flight out. Count back from the arrival in Finland, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a clinic can be full, so ask for the appointment early. The direct flight home needs none;
– The certificate is valid for ten days for entry, so it is dated close to the departure and not weeks ahead. Check the dates against the flight, with a day in hand for a delay, before the vet signs.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Tampere calendar: from the hockey season to the Christmas market
Tampere is a working city with a steady stream of congresses, matches and festivals, so there is no dead season, and the weeks that need planning ahead are the ones tied to a fixture or a market. Knowing which one you are flying into matters more than the choice of aircraft.
When Tampere does get tight
The aircraft are rarely the scarce item here. What runs out is the hotel room, the car and the stand. The busiest days are the play-off nights in March and April, the large congresses at Tampere Hall, the Midsummer weekend when everybody wants to leave, and the Christmas market weekends. The airport has no hangar for visitors, so when a stay is long we plan the aircraft to return rather than to wait. Helsinki-Vantaa, 80 nautical miles away, is the first alternative if Tampere is weathered in or the stand is not available, and a transfer from there takes about two hours by road. The condition that can change a plan on any date is winter weather, which is why we allow time for de-icing and keep an alternative airfield in mind.
Ways to bring the Tampere price down
- Shift the dates if the diary allows. A midweek flight in January, or a weekend outside the play-offs and the Christmas market, costs less than the dates everybody wants, and Tampere has plenty to do on a quiet date;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Helsinki or Stockholm costs less to bring to Tampere than one flown out from Britain, and a jet that is going home to Helsinki or Stockholm after your flight is the natural candidate for a cheaper leg back;
- Do not pay for waiting. A jet that stays at Tampere for a week is parked outside with no hangar, and the standing time is charged. For a stay of more than a couple of days, ask for a quote for a drop-off and a separate pick-up as well, and compare;
- Take the light jet when the party and the bags are small. Two people with cabin bags save real money in a Phenom on a sector of two and a half hours; six people with laptops and presentation cases do not, and the quote that looks cheap on paper is often the one that changes.
Types of flights
Tampere produces a mix of its own, because the same runway serves a factory visit, a hockey night and a family weekend.
- Business trips to the industrial and technology companies of Pirkanmaa, usually two to six people, often with a meeting at Tampere Hall or at a university;
- Congress and delegation travel, where the date is fixed by the programme and the car is booked for the handler's door;
- Hockey nights and concert weekends at the Nokia Arena, with a fixed date, a small group and a request for a hotel close to the arena;
- Family weekends built around Särkänniemi, the Moomin Museum, a lakeshore sauna and the Pyynikki ridge;
- Christmas market weekends in the last week of November and December, mostly couples and small groups;
- Combined trips that add Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm or Lapland to Tampere in one itinerary.
Tampere is possible as a day trip, but it is a long day. Leave a London field at seven, land at about half past eleven local time, and you have the afternoon on the ground; to be back in London at about half past five in the evening the aircraft leaves Tampere at five local time. Most clients prefer to stay one night, with the crew waiting at the airport or, if the aircraft goes home empty and returns for you, with a pair of positioning legs on the invoice. We price both ways so you can compare.
Empty Legs
Some jets fly to or from Finland with nobody aboard, moving to their next job, and the operator will sell that seat-free leg cheaply rather than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. On the Tampere route the supply follows the business calendar and the hockey season.
Where Tampere empty legs come from
– Delegation and congress changeovers. An aircraft brings a party to Tampere on a Monday and returns to Britain or Helsinki empty, and the leg out is the one most often offered. In the opposite direction, a jet going to Tampere to collect a party can fly there empty;
– Short breaks. A party that comes for a long weekend leaves an aircraft with an empty leg either way, and a midweek departure towards London or Stockholm can be cheaper than a fresh one-way charter;
– Regional rotation. Operators positioning between Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and the Baltic capitals put short legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the Finnish corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Tampere match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter in Tampere is a tool for the edges of a trip. The centre is a short drive from the airport, so the aircraft does not save much time there; what it changes is the landing site. The places where rotary flight earns its fee are a transfer to a hotel or a company site outside the city, a day in Helsinki or Mänttä, and a flight over the two lakes and the Pyynikki ridge at the right hour.
13 km from the airport, against a drive of about twenty minutes; the point is a landing at the hotel or the company site, agreed in advanceabout 10 minutes each way
about 80 nautical miles, against a Pendolino of an hour and a half; useful when the meeting is at the airport or a site on the wayabout 50 minutes each way
about 97 km, against a drive of well over an hour; a day trip for a party that wants the museums and the manorabout 35 minutes each way
a flight over the two lakes, the rapids and the Pyynikki ridge, planned to the weather and the lighton request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Rotary flight is limited by where it may set down. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a hotel lawn or a company site before the quote is written;
– Finnish weather sets the schedule. Snow, low cloud and the short winter day can stop a helicopter on a morning when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For a play-off night or a Christmas market weekend, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines used on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short scenic work, the wider H130 for hotel and site transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable. The figures above use a straight-line distance at a cruise of about 115 knots, and the final time is confirmed with the operator.

Tampere charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
CONGRESS · TAMPERE HALL
Four executives and a two-day programme
London City - Tampere, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 35 min · 4 pax
The programme fixed the dates, so the aircraft was chosen around the hotel and the car. Four people and laptop cases sat comfortably in a light cabin. The handler was named in writing before payment, and the car waited at its door for the drive to the centre.
HOCKEY NIGHT · NOKIA ARENA
A play-off match and a night in the city
Farnborough - Tampere, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 40 min · 5 pax
The date was set by the fixture and not by the client. Five guests flew on the day of the match and came back the next morning, with the rooms booked near the arena before the aircraft. The jet left Tampere empty after the drop and returned for the way home, which cost less than a night on the apron.
SITE VISIT · PIRKANMAA
Three people, a factory and back the same evening
Biggin Hill - Tampere, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 35 min · 3 pax
An early departure put the party on the ground before noon local time, with the afternoon at the site and a departure at five. A long day, but it saved a hotel night. The meeting date was moved once, and the aircraft moved with it.
FAMILY WEEKEND · SÄRKÄNNIEMI
Six people, a pushchair and a lakeside sauna
Birmingham - Tampere, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 45 min · 6 pax
Two parents, three children and a grandparent, with the bags that go with a pushchair. The light jet was quoted first and dropped once the bag count was added up. The party stayed two nights, visited the tower and the Moomin Museum, and the car took them to a lakeshore sauna on the last evening.
WINTER BREAK · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a labrador in Pirkanmaa
Manchester - Helsinki - Tampere, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 45 min and about 30 minutes · 4 pax + dog
The dog had to be cleared at Helsinki-Vantaa, so the trip was quoted as two legs. The Animal Health Certificate was dated inside ten days of arrival, the tapeworm treatment was given in Britain inside the 24 to 120 hour window, and the flight home went direct from Finland.
EMPTY LEG · MIDWEEK SOUTH
A jet already going your way
Tampere - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a delegation to Tampere on the Monday and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a midweek departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Tampere
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Tampere?
About 2 hours 35 minutes from London Luton, London City and Biggin Hill and 2 hours 40 minutes from Farnborough in a Phenom 300E, covering roughly 1,006 to 1,044 nautical miles depending on the field. From Manchester or Birmingham allow about 2 hours 40 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes in a midsize cabin, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 25 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Tampere is two hours ahead of Britain, so a departure at eight in the morning lands a little after half past twelve local time.
2How much does a private jet to Tampere cost?
From about £13,450 one way on a Phenom 300E out of London Luton, and £13,500 from London City. Biggin Hill and Farnborough run £13,600 to £13,900, a midsize cabin costs £16,850 from Birmingham and £17,900 from Bristol, and from Scotland allow £19,350 to £19,950. The play-off nights, the congress weeks and the Christmas market weekends can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Tampere?
Tampere-Pirkkala (TMP / EFTP), 7 nautical miles (13 km) south-west of the centre. It has one 2,700 m runway, an instrument landing system on runway 24, handling by four listed companies and no hangar for visiting aircraft. Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL / EFHK) is 80 nautical miles to the south and the first alternative, with a Finavia business flights terminal open 24 hours, and Turku (TKU / EFTU) and Pori (POR / EFPO) are the back-ups.
4Does a private jet need permission to land at Tampere, and what happens on arrival?
Tampere-Pirkkala is on the Finnish list of border crossing airports, with customs and immigration on four hours' notice. A non-commercial private flight needs a flight plan and passenger details sent to the border guard; a foreign operator's commercial charter needs permission from the Finnish transport agency, requested at least 48 hours ahead. Finland is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passengers pass passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180.
5Can I fly on from Tampere to Helsinki, Lapland or the Baltic?
Helsinki-Vantaa is 80 nautical miles from Tampere, about 40 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12. Rovaniemi is 327 nautical miles, about 1 h 05 min in a Phenom 300E, and Kittilä is 394 nautical miles, about 1 h 15 min. Tallinn is 131 nautical miles, about 40 minutes, Stockholm Arlanda is 206 nautical miles, about 50 minutes, and Riga is 281 nautical miles, about 1 h. All of them are in Schengen with Finland, so there is no passport control on those legs.
6Can I take my dog to Tampere on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Finland asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. The Finnish Food Authority lists Helsinki-Vantaa as the only airport entry point for pets arriving from outside the EU, so we plan the first landing there, confirm in writing that this applies to a private flight, and fly on to Tampere. A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving in Finland. A direct flight home from Finland to Britain needs no further treatment unless the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
