Private jet charter in Bournemouth
Half an hour in a light jet from a London field puts you on the Dorset coast, and what happens next is the reason for the trip: a long lunch at Sandbanks, a round on a heathland course, the Jurassic Coast seen from the air, a sailing week across the Solent. Private Jets UK builds the charter around that plan. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Bournemouth is in England, so a flight from London, Birmingham, Edinburgh or Belfast is domestic from start to finish, while a jet arriving from Geneva, Paris or Dubai lands at an airport that can clear customs by arrangement, and the planning changes accordingly.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bournemouth depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bournemouth?
About 30 to 35 minutes from the London fields in a light jet, an hour and a half from Edinburgh or Glasgow in a turboprop, and no change of clock from anywhere in Britain. At 52 to 332 nautical miles these are short sectors, where the climb and the descent take up a large part of the flight and a minimum charge sets the price long before distance does. The table gives the sector from each British field into Bournemouth Airport (BOH). Southampton is left out because at 22 nautical miles the road is as quick as any aircraft, and Bristol and Exeter, 51 and 62 nautical miles away, are positioning hops and not a client's journey.

Door to door, with the sea at the end of it
Bournemouth lies about 100 miles south-west of London, and the air distance from the London fields is only 52 to 89 nautical miles. By road the same trip typically takes two hours or more, and on a summer Friday a good deal more, because most of the traffic on that corridor is heading for the same beaches. The jet removes the queue at the start and at the end: the car waits at the aircraft, and the aircraft waits for you or leaves to your timetable. Bournemouth Airport stands at Hurn, about 4 miles (6.4 km) north-north-east of the town, so a client can be at a Sandbanks table or on a first tee within the hour. Passengers from Scotland and Northern Ireland have the same advantage with no passport control at either end.
Turboprop, light jet or something larger: how the choice goes here
– For up to eight people with ordinary bags, a Pilatus PC-12 is the sensible aircraft from the Midlands and the north. From Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Liverpool the quote is £3,100, the minimum on a short sector, against £5,300 for a Citation CJ3+, and the turboprop gives away only ten to fifteen minutes;
– From the London fields every light-jet sector sits on the same minimum charge, £5,300, so the question is cabin and not distance. A CJ3+ takes about 35 min from Biggin Hill. A light jet earns its premium when Bournemouth is one stop in a day, or when the party wants to be home the same evening;
– A midsize or larger cabin is for a full party, for a golf group with its bags, for a sailing crew with kit, or for a trip that goes on from Dorset to the Alps or the Mediterranean. The runway at Bournemouth is 2,272 m, which takes the whole business range and a good deal more, so the aircraft is chosen for the cabin and the baggage hold.

Cowes Week and the Isle of Wight Festival can price above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when. All four London sectors are priced at £5,300, the light-jet minimum, and five of the nine turboprop sectors at £3,100, the turboprop minimum. This is not rounding. A one-way charter is billed with the aircraft's return positioning, and on a short sector a minimum charge takes over from the distance, so every PC-12 sector up to about 193 nautical miles lands on it. Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds therefore cost the same into Bournemouth. Only the long northern sectors rise above the floor: Newcastle at £3,750, Belfast at £3,950, Edinburgh and Glasgow at £4,400.

Out of Bournemouth the mix is different from the capital cities. Edinburgh, Belfast and Dublin are turboprop hops, Paris and Amsterdam are a light-jet hour, the Alps and the Mediterranean sit at one and a half to two hours, and a Dorset owner who wants something much longer is usually better served by a positioning leg from a London field. Scotland and Ireland: where the aircraft earns its place
Edinburgh is 328 nautical miles from Bournemouth, about 1 h 35 min in a PC-12, and Belfast City is 284 nautical miles, about 1 h 25 min. Both are domestic, with no passport, no customs and no report to file. Dublin lies 237 nautical miles away and is about 1 h 15 min by turboprop, but it is in the EU, so that flight brings the arrival rules of another jurisdiction for passengers and for any animal on board. A party that has to be in Edinburgh by ten and back for dinner has one sensible answer, which is a private aircraft. For one person going to a half-day meeting in Dublin it is a convenience, and it is priced as one.
Before you accept a quote for a departure from Bournemouth
– Which handler. Jets and larger aircraft are looked after by XLR, the executive jet centre on the Northeast Business Park, while Bliss Aviation Handling deals with light aircraft and helicopters. A driver told only "Bournemouth Airport" can wait at the wrong door, so give us the centre as well as the airport;
– What hours apply on the day. XLR lists its own opening as 07:00 to 19:00 with access to its facilities at other times on request, and the tower and customs hours are published separately. A late dinner in Sandbanks and a night departure is something we check before the quote, not afterwards.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bournemouth:
Light jets, the usual choice from London
At about half an hour in the air this is the class for four to six people with ordinary luggage. The 2,272 m runway at Bournemouth limits none of them, so the money goes on the cabin and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for golf parties and sailing crews
The hold fills faster than the seats on a Dorset weekend: club bags, sailing bags, garment bags, a picnic hamper for the beach. A midsize cabin carries all of it and keeps the group together.
Super-midsize and large
For a party travelling as one group, a delegation that works in the air, or a trip that continues from Dorset to the Alps or the Gulf. The runway is long enough for every type in this class, and the centre at Bournemouth is set up for aircraft up to airliner size.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Midlands and northern sectors, where a turboprop reaches Bournemouth in under an hour and the quote sits at the minimum charge, and for the short hops to Dublin, Belfast and Edinburgh.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from London but for the last stretch: across Poole Harbour, over to the Isle of Wight, along the Jurassic Coast or to a lawn in the New Forest. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote, not after it.

This is a small part of what is available. Bournemouth sits within easy reach of London, Southampton and Bristol, so for a booking outside an event week there is usually an aircraft already close, and a quote may name one of those fields as the positioning point. That is normal and often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Bournemouth
One airport does nearly all of the work, and three more matter when the programme leans towards Hampshire, Devon or the Isle of Wight. Two of the island's airfields are not options for a jet, and the table says why.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Bournemouth BOH / EGHH |
The airport for the town, Poole, Sandbanks, Christchurch and the New Forest. One asphalt runway, 08/26, of 2,272 m by 45 m, with an instrument landing system at both ends, about 4 miles (6.4 km) north-north-east of Bournemouth and about 12 m above sea level. Business traffic goes through XLR, the executive jet centre on the Northeast Business Park: a passenger lounge, crew rest rooms, a conference centre, a private parking area for jets and gated parking for cars, set up for aircraft up to airliner size. Bliss Aviation Handling looks after light aircraft and helicopters. Customs and immigration for arrivals from abroad are arranged by prior notice |
| Southampton SOU / EGHI |
The Hampshire and Solent answer, 22 nautical miles to the east. Runway 02/20 of 1,887 m, about 3.5 nautical miles north-north-east of central Southampton, with Signature Flight Support listed as the handler and customs on site. Better than Bournemouth for the New Forest's eastern side, for Lymington and for a party heading to Cowes by ferry or helicopter, and a fallback when Bournemouth is busy. The airport has a night noise period that we check against the departure time |
| Exeter EXT / EGTE |
For Devon and the west end of the Jurassic Coast, 62 nautical miles to the west. Runway 08/26 of 2,076 m, about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Exeter, with XLR Executive Jet Centre as the business centre. Rarely better than Bournemouth for a Dorset trip, but a sensible landing point for Lyme Regis and the Devon coast |
| Bristol BRS / EGGD |
51 nautical miles to the north-west. Runway 09/27 of 2,011 m, with Centreline as the business aviation centre. It makes sense when the programme is Bath or the Somerset side of the Mendips and Dorset is only the second stop; for Bournemouth itself it adds a long drive |
| Isle of Wight Bembridge EGHJ / Sandown EGHN |
Not an option for a jet. Bembridge, 30 nautical miles from Bournemouth, has a single concrete runway of 827 m, is unlicensed and needs prior permission; Isle of Wight Airport at Sandown is an unlicensed airfield for light aircraft. A party for the island lands at Bournemouth or Southampton and crosses the Solent by ferry, hovercraft or helicopter |
Four points settle most Bournemouth arrivals:
Choose the airport by the programme
Bournemouth for the town, Poole, Sandbanks, Christchurch, Purbeck and the golf courses of the heath. Southampton when the weekend is on the Solent or in the eastern New Forest. Exeter when it is in Devon. Otherwise land at Bournemouth, where the runway suits the whole business range and the centre is built for business aircraft.
Hours and night rules
Bournemouth has no curfew, and the airport states that the UK has no ban on night flights. The limits are set by planning conditions, which cap the number and the type of aircraft that may operate at night, so a late departure is normally possible but is checked against the aircraft before it is quoted. We also confirm the tower and customs hours for the date.
Passport and papers
From elsewhere in the United Kingdom the flight is domestic: no passport control, no customs and no General Aviation Report. The handler still asks for the names of the passengers, and we advise a passport or a driving licence as photo identification. An arrival from abroad follows the customs rules described below.
Notice and slots
Handling at Bournemouth is compulsory, and an arrival needs prior notice to the handler. Even where the airport is quiet, we ask for at least 24 to 48 hours of notice, and for Cowes Week we ask for more, because aircraft, helicopters and rooms all tighten together.

Passport, customs and the flight home
A flight from London, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Belfast to Bournemouth is domestic. Nobody checks a passport at the foot of the steps, there is no customs inspection and no General Aviation Report to file. The handler needs a passenger list and a notice of arrival, and that is all.
A jet from outside the United Kingdom is different. Coming in from Paris, Geneva, Dubai or New York, the aircraft lands at Bournemouth with customs and immigration arranged in advance through the handler, a General Aviation Report is filed between 48 and 2 hours before departure, and Border Force decides who may enter. A missed report is expensive: the penalty is £2,500 for a first landing at a non-regulated aerodrome, and £2,000 for each passenger carried without permission. Most visitors who need no visa must also hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation, though British and Irish citizens do not.
For a flight out of Bournemouth the entry rules are those of the destination. A British passport holder flying to the Schengen area meets EU border checks at the far end, which include the registration of a photo and fingerprints at first entry. Tell us the nationalities of the party when you ask for the quote and we check the position for your dates.

From the apron to Sandbanks and the Jurassic Coast
Bournemouth grew from a heathland shore into a resort after a retired army officer, Lewis Tregonwell, settled there in the early nineteenth century. The built-up area now holds about 196,000 people, which makes it the largest town in Dorset, and it forms one council with Poole and Christchurch. The beach is about seven miles of golden sand running between chines, the pier is some 305 metres long, and the Lower, Central and Upper Gardens, all listed Grade II*, run down the valley of the Bourne to the sea. Behind the seafront is a working town: financial services are a main employer, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, which began as a municipal orchestra, is based in neighbouring Poole.
about 4 miles (6.4 km) south-south-west of the airporttypically 20 minutes
the Priory, Mudeford Quay and Highcliffe Castletypically 15 minutes
the peninsula at the mouth of Poole Harbourtypically 35 to 40 minutes
Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst, for the ponies and the heathtypically 35 to 45 minutes
the heart of the Jurassic Coasttypically 1 hour
for the ferry to the Isle of Wighttypically 40 minutes
Sandbanks is the address clients ask about first. It is a spit of about one square kilometre at the mouth of Poole Harbour, a residential neighbourhood of Poole that has been ranked among the most expensive land in the world by area and has been called Britain's Palm Beach. The Sandbanks chain ferry crosses the harbour mouth to Studland, and from Studland the road runs on to Swanage and Old Harry Rocks. The harbour behind it is a shallow basin of about 36 square kilometres with an average depth of under half a metre, a protected wetland, and the largest of its eight islands is Brownsea, which belongs to the National Trust and still has red squirrels. It is also where Baden-Powell held the first Scout camp. Brownsea is reached by boat and makes a good half-day.
The Jurassic Coast begins at Old Harry Rocks, just across the harbour mouth from Sandbanks, and runs west for about 96 miles (154 km) to Orcombe Point near Exmouth. It is the first wholly natural World Heritage Site in the United Kingdom. The famous short stretch is in Dorset: Lulworth Cove, a horseshoe-shaped cove cut through Portland stone with a fossil forest nearby, Durdle Door, the natural arch, and Chesil Beach, a barrier beach some 18 miles (29 km) long. Part of the coast between Lulworth and Kimmeridge lies on military land, so access to it is partial and a walking plan has to allow for that. Most clients see the coast in one of two ways, on foot from a car, or in an hour in a helicopter.
East of Bournemouth the New Forest National Park covers about 219 square miles (566 square kilometres). William the Conqueror made it a royal hunting forest, and it is still grazed by commoners' ponies, cattle and donkeys, so a driver in Lyndhurst or Brockenhurst learns to wait for a pony. Pigs are turned out in autumn to eat acorns. Christchurch, on the opposite side of Bournemouth from Poole, has a Priory that is the longest parish church in England, a quay at Mudeford, a sandbank lined with beach huts and the Gothic Revival mansion of Highcliffe Castle. Across the Solent lies the Isle of Wight, the largest island in England, with Osborne House, which was Queen Victoria's residence, the Needles and the sailing town of Cowes. Wightlink and Red Funnel run the ferries, and the island also has a passenger hovercraft service that is said to be the only one left in the world.
For golfers the county is close to the runway. Parkstone above Poole Harbour, Broadstone and the Old course at Ferndown are heathland courses ranked among the best in the south-west of England, and Isle of Purbeck at Swanage runs along the cliff tops. A group of four with clubs and a cabin full of bags is exactly what a midsize jet is for, and the courses lie within a short drive of each other.
Flying to Bournemouth with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat flying between English, Scottish or Welsh airfields and Bournemouth normally travels in the cabin beside you, and no import rules apply because there is no border. A dog should carry a microchip, as the law in Great Britain already requires. On a sector of 35 minutes to an hour, most animals sleep through it. The paperwork starts when the flight begins or ends outside Great Britain.

What each type of Bournemouth flight asks of the animal:
- From London, Scotland or Wales: nothing beyond the microchip and the usual documents for the operator;
- From Northern Ireland: a dog or cat coming back to Great Britain is not checked on the way, and a dog needs no tapeworm treatment on a direct return from Northern Ireland;
- From abroad into Bournemouth: a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, a pet travel document and a declaration are required, and no more than five animals may travel with one person. Cats do not need the tapeworm treatment;
- From Bournemouth to the EU: a microchip fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination, a rabies vaccination from 12 weeks of age followed by a 21-day wait, and an Animal Health Certificate for each trip, valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A Great Britain pet passport is not valid for entry to the EU.
What catches owners out on the Bournemouth run
– The beach. From 1 May to 30 September dogs are banned from the Blue Flag and Seaside Award beaches of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, while several stretches stay open all year, among them Hengistbury Head, Mudeford Sandbank and the western end of Sandbanks. From 1 October to 30 April dogs are allowed on all of them. The council publishes maps, and we pass the right one to the party;
– The country the animal is going to. Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland, Malta and Norway add a tapeworm treatment for dogs on the way in, and Northern Ireland has a separate notice and document for animals arriving from Great Britain. We raise it with the first quote;
– The return flight. The certificate carries its own validity for the return to Great Britain, so read the dates on the paper before the trip and not after it. If the rules are not met on arrival in Great Britain, an animal can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. We confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Bournemouth calendar: sailing and festivals
The Dorset coast works from spring to autumn, with the busiest weeks in June, July and August, and then settles into a quieter season for golf, business and weekends. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why an event week costs more
Not the flying. The British light and midsize fleet is large and Bournemouth is well placed in it. What gets tight in Cowes Week or on a festival weekend is the apron, the helicopters, the cars and the rooms, all on the same days. A booking made a fortnight ahead can still be done but pays more, and it may mean an aircraft positioned from Southampton or Farnborough. The same booking made six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Bournemouth is one of the easier south-coast airports to charter into, and a flight can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Bournemouth price down
- Take the turboprop from the Midlands and the north. On sectors up to about 193 nautical miles the PC-12 quote is £3,100 against £5,300 for a light jet, and for eight people with ordinary bags the cabin is not the constraint;
- Choose the field you can reach fastest. Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds carry the same price into Bournemouth, so the saving is in the drive to the airfield and not in the choice of it;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already at Southampton, Farnborough or Exeter takes less positioning than one from Scotland, and on a short sector positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Avoid the festival weekends. The same sector in the week after Cowes Week is simpler to find and cheaper than the Friday before it.
Types of flights
Bournemouth produces a different mix from the capital cities we cover. It is a seaside and business town with a golf coast on one side and a yachting coast on the other, and a private jet is used here for leisure more often than for conferences.
- Business and professional travel into the town, usually a morning in and an afternoon out, with the financial-services offices of Bournemouth and Poole a short drive from the airport;
- Golf parties of four to eight, flying into Bournemouth for the heathland courses of Poole, Broadstone and Ferndown;
- Sailing and Solent traffic for Cowes Week and the Boat Show, often through Southampton, with a helicopter or a ferry for the last stretch;
- Weekends at Sandbanks, in Christchurch or in the New Forest, usually with a dog;
- Day trips along the Jurassic Coast, sometimes by helicopter from the airport;
- Departures to Dublin, Edinburgh and Belfast, and onward to the Alps and the Mediterranean, which are the same flights run the other way.
The day trip needs a closer look. Leave Biggin Hill at nine and you land a little after half past, in a Sandbanks restaurant by noon, and the return can leave at five without reference to the night rules. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Bournemouth has seasonal peaks that create them, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bournemouth empty legs come from
– Event weekends. Aircraft bring parties for the Isle of Wight Festival or Cowes Week and leave empty a day or two later, which produces outbound legs on the Friday evening and the Sunday;
– Weekend turn-rounds. Aircraft that bring a Friday party in from London go home empty on the Sunday, and the evening leg is the one most often offered;
– Positioning from Southampton, Exeter and Farnborough. Operators that move aircraft along the south coast put short legs on the market, and short legs can be cheap.
Because the corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Bournemouth match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Bournemouth a helicopter is a tool for the last stretch and not for the town. The airport is a few miles from the seafront and a car does most of that work. What a helicopter changes is the water: Poole Harbour, the Solent and the long cliffs of the Jurassic Coast are all within a short flight, and a crossing to the Isle of Wight that takes a ferry timetable becomes about twenty minutes.
a loop over the peninsula, Brownsea Island and the harbour, about 7 nautical miles outtypically 20 minutes

the Jurassic Coast from the air, 19 nautical miles each waytypically 20 minutes

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A hotel lawn, an estate or an event field needs the owner's consent and a check of the site for the machine, so we confirm its status before the quote is written, not after it;
– Weather sets the schedule. Sea fog and low cloud on the south coast can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For Cowes Week, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for quick transfers, the wider H130 for island and estate transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Bournemouth charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
Lunch at Sandbanks and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Bournemouth and return, Citation CJ3+, about 35 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at nine, on the ground a little after half past, at the table by noon. The aircraft and crew waited at the jet centre rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. The return left at five.
GOLF · A MIDWEEK PARTY
Six players and their clubs from the Midlands
Birmingham - Bournemouth, Pilatus PC-12, about 45 min · 6 pax
The hold was the question, not the cabin: six sets of clubs, six trolleys and a bag of waterproofs. The turboprop cost the minimum for the sector, a minibus waited at the jet centre, and the group played two courses in two days before flying home on the Thursday.
SOLENT · SAILING WEEK
A crew for Cowes Week who landed on the mainland
London Luton - Southampton, Citation CJ3+, about 30 min · 5 pax
Southampton was chosen over Bournemouth because it is nearer to the ferries and the helicopter for Cowes. The sail bags came in the hold, and the helicopter and the aircraft were secured together weeks ahead, because both are scarce in that week.
JURASSIC COAST · HELICOPTER
Two nights in Dorset and an hour above the cliffs
Biggin Hill - Bournemouth, Citation CJ3+, about 35 min · 3 pax
A helicopter was booked for the Saturday morning from the airport along the coast to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door and back over Poole Harbour. The weather was the risk, so a car was held in reserve for the same slot, and in the end it was not needed.
INBOUND · CUSTOMS AT BOURNEMOUTH
A Geneva arrival with a dog
Geneva - Bournemouth, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 20 min · 3 pax + dog
The General Aviation Report went in well ahead of departure, customs and immigration were arranged through the jet centre, and the dog's tapeworm treatment was timed to fall between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Nobody entered the main terminal.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING TO LONDON
A jet already going your way
Bournemouth - London Luton, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for an evening departure.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bournemouth
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bournemouth?
About 35 minutes from London City, Biggin Hill and Luton in a light jet, covering 52 to 89 nautical miles from the London fields. From Birmingham a turboprop takes about 45 minutes and from Manchester or Liverpool about 55 minutes, and from Glasgow or Edinburgh about 1 h 35 min. There is no change of clock.
2How much does a private jet to Bournemouth cost?
From £5,300 one way on a Citation CJ3+ from any of the London fields, which is the minimum charge on a sector this short. A Pilatus PC-12 from Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool or Leeds costs £3,100, and from Newcastle £3,750 or Belfast £3,950. Cowes Week and the Isle of Wight Festival can price above these figures. The Bournemouth Air Festival is paused, and our managers confirm up-to-date information on it.
3Which airport should I use for Sandbanks, the Isle of Wight or the New Forest?
Bournemouth Airport (BOH / EGHH) for Sandbanks, Poole, Christchurch and the western New Forest. It has a 2,272 m runway and XLR as the jet centre. For the Isle of Wight and for Lymington and the eastern New Forest, Southampton (EGHI) is closer to the ferries, but its runway is 1,887 m. The island's own airfields are for light aircraft only, so a jet party crosses the Solent by ferry, hovercraft or helicopter.
4Do I need a passport or customs clearance to fly to Bournemouth?
Not from elsewhere in the United Kingdom. A flight from London, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland is domestic, with no passport control, no customs and no General Aviation Report. Handlers still ask for names, and we advise carrying photo identification. An arrival from abroad needs a report filed between 48 and 2 hours before departure, and customs is arranged in advance through the handler.
5Does Bournemouth Airport have a curfew for private jets?
No. The airport states that there is no ban on night flights in the UK, but planning conditions limit the number and type of aircraft that may operate at night. XLR lists its hours as 07:00 to 19:00 with access to its facilities at other times on request. We check the aircraft, the tower hours and the customs hours before the quote.
6Can I take my dog to Bournemouth on a private jet?
Normally yes, in the cabin, which we confirm with the operator in advance. Within Great Britain no import paperwork is needed. From abroad a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, a pet travel document and a declaration, and no more than five animals may travel with one person. Going from Bournemouth to the EU needs an Animal Health Certificate for each trip.
