Private jet charter in Bari
A private jet from Britain needs a little under three hours to reach Puglia, and the choice that shapes the trip is made before the aircraft is: Bari for the trulli, Matera and the coast to the south-east, Brindisi for Lecce and the Salento. Private Jets UK builds the charter around that decision. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Bari has a single runway of 3,000 m, compulsory handling, prior permission for general aviation and a slot system, while Brindisi, about 118 km down the coast, takes the same aircraft on a runway of 3,048 m. The real decisions are the landing airport, the season and how far the car has to go.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bari depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bari?
Two hours forty minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, a little over three hours from Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to allow for on arrival, because Italy keeps Central European time. At 959 to 1,261 nautical miles from the British fields we use, Bari is a light-jet sector from the south of England and a midsize or super-midsize job from the north. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and the rules on the apron
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you land at Bari a little before eleven local time. The airport lies about 8 km north-west of the city centre. Handling is compulsory: the handler, Sky Services or Delta Aerotaxi, is named in the flight plan and meets the aircraft on arrival. Customs and immigration are not offered round the clock. One airfield directory lists them daily from 04:00 to 22:00 UTC, with cover outside those hours on request, which is the detail to settle before a very late or very early landing. A client who left a London office at half past six can be sitting in the old town of Bari before lunch.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. Two hours forty in a CJ3+ is manageable, and what you save against a midsize cabin pays for the driver and the masseria;
– Past four, or with golf clubs, beach kit for a fortnight, a wedding party's dresses or cases of wine and olive oil loaded for the journey home, we quote a midsize alongside so that you see both figures. On this route the hold often decides before the seat count does;
– A heavy jet earns its place when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you across several stops, or when Puglia is the first leg of a longer journey. Runway length is not the issue: 3,000 m at Bari and 3,048 m at Brindisi take everything we send. The limit is the parking stand, not the tarmac.

Onward from Bari: when the aircraft wins and when the car does
Brindisi is only about 118 km away by air, so the motorway usually beats a charter unless the aircraft has to be at the other end, for instance when you arrive in Bari and fly home from Brindisi. Dubrovnik is 113 nautical miles, about 45 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, and Split 151, which turns a day of ferry and road into a lunchtime hop. Naples is 117 nautical miles, Rome Ciampino 199, Malta 349 and Athens 399. Italy, Croatia, Malta and Greece are all inside the Schengen area, so the first landing carries the formalities and the hops after it are free of passport control.
Before you accept a Puglia onward quote
– Which airport at the far end, and what it can do for you. Dubrovnik and Split fill with scheduled and charter traffic in summer, and handling and parking are checked before the quote is written, not after it;
– Whether the legs are one booking. Bari to Dubrovnik to Split and home over four days costs noticeably less arranged as one trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bari:
Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people
At two and a half hours or a little more this is a sector for a small party with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range, so the money is better spent on the driver and the masseria than on a bigger cabin you will not fill.
Midsize, for golf clubs, wedding luggage and a long stay
The hold fills faster than the seats on a Puglia trip: clubs for the spring, beach kit and a dozen pieces of luggage for the summer, and whatever comes home from the cellars of the Itria valley.
Super-midsize and large
For a team that wants to work in the air, a group travelling as one party, or a trip that carries on from Puglia to the Gulf or the islands. The 3,000 m runway takes all of these without restriction, and the stand is what we reserve first.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops across the Adriatic and down the Italian coast: Dubrovnik, Split and Naples are about an hour or less in the air, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a masseria among the olive trees, the trulli of the Itria valley, a cliff-top town on the coast. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Bari has a modest based fleet, but Rome, Naples and Milan are within an hour or so of it by air, so a quote may name one of those cities as the positioning point. That is normal for an airport of this size, and it is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Bari
Two airports carry most Puglia trips, and two more matter when the programme leaves the middle of the region. Which one is right depends on where you are sleeping, not on the aircraft.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Bari, Karol Wojtyła BRI / LIBD |
The answer for any trip whose business is in Bari, the trulli country, Matera or the coast towards Polignano. About 8 km north-west of the city, with a single asphalt runway (07/25) of 3,000 m, instrument approaches and a tower that works round the clock. Handling is compulsory and is done by Sky Services, based on Viale Enzo Ferrari, or by Delta Aerotaxi, which lists a VIP lounge and FBO services. The airport is shared with the military, is listed as a coordinated airport that needs a slot, and asks for prior permission for general aviation aircraft of 19 seats or fewer |
| Brindisi, Salento BDS / LIBR |
The airport for Lecce and the Salento, for Ostuni and for the southern end of the Itria valley. About 6 km from Brindisi and about 39 km from Lecce, with an asphalt runway (13/31) of 3,048 m. Delta Aerotaxi, Sky Services and Fly Service are all listed as handlers, so we confirm which one serves your aircraft. It is a civil airport that keeps military facilities beside it, and it is listed as a coordinated airport that needs a slot. Choose it when you are sleeping south of Ostuni, not when you are going to Bari or Matera |
| Taranto-Grottaglie, Marcello Arlotta TAR / LIBG |
A third option in the south of the region, about 21 km east of Taranto and 5 km from Grottaglie, with a very long runway of about 3,170 m (10,400 ft). One charter operator lists its hours as 08:00 to 20:00, which is a constraint to check for every booking. It suits a programme centred on Taranto, or a day when the stand rules at Bari or the slots at Brindisi do not fit |
| Foggia, Gino Lisa FOG / LIBF |
The airport for the north of Puglia and the Gargano peninsula, about 4 km south of Foggia, with a runway of about 1,430 m (4,700 ft) and hours listed as upon request. That length suits turboprops and light jets, and we check aircraft performance before quoting |
Four things to settle before a landing at Bari:
The handlers and what they do
Handling is compulsory. At Bari the two names are Sky Services and Delta Aerotaxi. The handler is named in the flight plan, takes the parking request and meets the aircraft on arrival, and parking charges differ between them, so we ask for the figure before choosing. Delta Aerotaxi lists a VIP lounge and FBO services; Sky Services is based on Viale Enzo Ferrari.
Hours, slots and permits
The airport and its tower are listed as open round the clock, but it is a coordinated airport and a slot forms part of the booking. A general aviation aircraft of 19 seats or fewer needs prior permission from the airport's stand-assignment office, requested between ten days and three hours before arrival. From 1 April to 1 October, parking on the main general aviation apron is limited to 24 hours on one category of stand and five days on another, with extensions case by case. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, so ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, may have to authorise the flight as well, depending on the type of flight and the operator; its published deadlines are at least 24 hours for air taxi flights and five days for a single ad hoc charter. We track the permit for you.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system, which is free.
Car and late nights
Give us the handler as well as the flight, so that the driver goes to the right place. The city is about 8 km away. The metropolitan railway and the number 16 bus serve the airport, but they are not what a private client uses. Customs and immigration cover outside the listed hours is on request, so a landing in the small hours should be agreed in writing beforehand.

Border, passport and Brindisi
The first landing in the Schengen area is where the formalities happen, and for Puglia that is either Bari or Brindisi. After that the borders disappear. A flight from Bari to Brindisi is a domestic Italian sector with no passport control at all, which is why arriving in one airport and leaving from the other is easy to arrange, and the hops to Croatia, Malta or Greece stay inside the Schengen area. For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and passengers who are neither British nor Irish and need no visa for Britain must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation. Hotels register foreign guests with the police, so keep your passport with you at check-in; a guest who is not staying in a hotel must declare their presence to the local police office within eight days.

From the apron to the old town
Bari is the ninth-largest city in Italy, with about 316,000 residents and some 1.2 million in the metropolitan area, and it is a working port as much as a resort. The old town, Bari Vecchia, holds the Basilica of San Nicola, the Cathedral of San Sabino and the Norman-Swabian castle, and ferries leave from here for Albania, Montenegro, Greece and Dubrovnik. What matters to a private client is what lies within a morning of the airport: the trulli, the white towns, the cliff-top villages of the coast and, across the regional border, Matera.
about 8 km, with the old town, the Basilica of San Nicola and the seafront at the end of the drivetypically 20 to 30 minutes

Flying to Puglia with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of an Italian trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal normally sits beside you in the cabin, and on a sector of under three hours most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because the certificate is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

What an EU country such as Italy asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed after the vaccination before the animal travels;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, and entry through a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing for the airport;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Puglia run
– Italy does not ask for tapeworm treatment on the way in, only Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Puglia towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a flight that moves by a day can move the window out of reach;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be refused entry, so the certificate is checked line by line before the flight, not at the terminal;
– If the programme includes Malta, the rules change: a dog entering Malta needs a tapeworm treatment on the way in as well. Tell us every stop when you ask for the quote, and keep a dog in shade and out of the heat on the apron while the aircraft is prepared.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Puglia calendar: a saint in May, a fair in September and a long summer
Puglia has a short spring, a long and crowded summer and a quiet winter, with a handful of dated events that fill the old towns. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a busy week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Puglia is well placed in it. What gets tight is the number of good cars and rooms, and the parking stands on the apron: from 1 April to 1 October the main general aviation apron at Bari limits the time an aircraft may stay, so a jet that is meant to wait for you through a long weekend may have to be placed elsewhere or sent away and called back. A booking made two weeks before the Fiera del Levante or a summer weekend can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from Rome, Naples or Milan, and that costs more. The same booking made four or five weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper.
Ways to bring the Bari price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The weeks outside the summer and the Fiera are calmer than the weekends themselves, and the stand rules at Bari bite hardest in summer;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Rome, Naples or Milan takes less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Check which airport suits the plan. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, a flight to Brindisi is priced about £700 higher than one to Bari. If you are sleeping in Lecce or Ostuni, that cost can be less than the second hour in the car each way, so let the location of the bed decide.
Types of flights
Bari produces a different mix from the Alpine or the Riviera destinations we cover, because the traffic is split between a port city with a trade fair and a countryside of masserie, white towns and coastal villages that private clients come for.
- Business travel to the city and its port, with fixed meeting dates and a small team, often arriving for the Fiera del Levante in September;
- Holiday charters to the masserie and villas of the Itria valley and the Salento, with a family or a house party, a lot of luggage and a driver at the foot of the steps;
- Weddings and celebrations among the olive groves, with guests arriving in two or three small aircraft, and the stand and the slot arranged for all of them together;
- Culture and film trips to Matera, Alberobello and Lecce, with a car meeting the aircraft and a guide for the Sassi, the trulli or the Baroque streets;
- Pilgrimage and religious travel around the Feast of San Nicola in May, with small groups and sometimes a larger delegation;
- Hops across the Adriatic to Dubrovnik and Split, or south to Malta and Athens, inside a longer European loop.
The day trip is possible and should be looked at closely. Land a little before eleven local time, leave at five in the afternoon and you are on the British side again shortly before seven in the evening, UK time, with about six hours on the ground in between. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it usually comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Bari does not have a single event that creates them, so they come from the pattern of the season, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bari empty legs come from
– The summer changeovers. Parties arrive for a week or two at a masseria, the aircraft goes home empty, and an outbound leg appears at the start of the stay and another at the end;
– The Fiera and the festival weeks. Aircraft that take delegations and guests to Bari or to Brindisi sometimes reposition through the other airport or through Rome and Naples, and a leg towards Britain from there can be offered;
– Weddings and celebrations. Operators moving aircraft to and from Puglia for a weekend event put short legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the corridor between Britain and Puglia is thinner than the busiest London routes outside the summer, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Bari match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Puglia a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The roads are good and the distances between the old towns are short, so what a helicopter changes is the last stretch to a masseria in the countryside, a villa on the coast or a day that would otherwise be spent in the car.
22 nm in a straight line along the coast, against 40 to 50 minutes by roadabout 19 minutes
30 nm in a straight line, against about an hour on the roadabout 24 minutes
29 nm in a straight line over the regional border, against about an hour on the roadabout 23 minutes
45 nm in a straight line, against about 90 minutes by roadabout 31 minutes
21 nm in a straight line, against about 40 minutes by roadabout 19 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a masseria lawn or a field before the quote is written, not after it, and in a protected area, such as the Sassi of Matera, the local rules come first;
– Weather sets the schedule. Wind, storms and low visibility can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– A transfer is only worth it where the saving is large. On the short hops, such as Bari to Polignano, the helicopter is a pleasure and not a necessity, and the car is the honest answer.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for scenic work, the wider H130 for villa and masseria transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Bari charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
TRADE FAIR · FIXED DATES
A buying team for the September fair
London Luton - Bari, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the fair and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, sample cases and a request for one car to meet the aircraft. The booking went in four weeks ahead, the stand was confirmed with the handler, and nothing needed explaining on the day.
THE ITRIA VALLEY · A HOUSE PARTY
A week in a masseria among the trulli
Farnborough - Bari, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 30 min · 6 pax
Six people, a great deal of luggage and a villa with a pool near Locorotondo. The car took about an hour from the airport, the aircraft was released after the drop-off rather than waiting a week, and the return was booked as a separate sector, which came out cheaper than keeping it on the ground.
MATERA · A NIGHT IN THE SASSI
Two couples and a short stay
Southampton - Bari, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 4 pax
They wanted Matera without a long drive after a morning flight. We landed at Bari, put a driver on the road for about an hour into Basilicata and moved the return to a Sunday evening, when the flight home was quiet and the stand was easy to get.
THE SALENTO · BRINDISI AND NOT BARI
A family week south of Ostuni
Farnborough - Brindisi, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 40 min · 6 pax
They were choosing between Bari and Brindisi. The base was south of Ostuni and Lecce was on the list, so Brindisi saved a long morning in the car for a small difference in the fare. The question that settled it was where the beds were.
SUMMER · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for an August week
Birmingham - Bari, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 50 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Puglia for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the masseria took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Bari - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bari
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bari?
About 2 hours 40 minutes from London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 2 hours 35 minutes from Luton in a Phenom, covering roughly 959 to 991 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Bristol or Manchester allow 2 hours 50 minutes to 2 hours 55 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 3 hours 5 minutes. Italy is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little before eleven local time.
2How much does a private jet to Bari cost?
From about £12,900 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £13,200 to £13,250 in a Phenom from Luton or Farnborough. A midsize cabin runs £16,450 to £18,100 from the south, the Midlands and the north-west of England, and from Scotland allow £24,750 to £25,200. The weeks around the Fiera del Levante and the summer weekends can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use, Bari, Brindisi or Grottaglie?
Bari Karol Wojtyła (BRI / LIBD) if you are going to Bari, the trulli country, Polignano or Matera. It is about 8 km from the city, has a 3,000 m runway, compulsory handling and a slot system. Brindisi (BDS / LIBR), about 118 km down the coast, suits Lecce, Ostuni and the Salento, and on the same light jet from Biggin Hill it is priced about £700 higher than Bari. Taranto-Grottaglie (TAR / LIBG) is a third option for the south of the region, with hours that must be checked.
4Do I need a visa or a landing permit for Bari?
Britain is outside Schengen and Italy is inside it, so you clear passport control and customs at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, so ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, may have to authorise the flight as well, depending on the type of flight and the operator, and its published deadlines are at least 24 hours for air taxi flights and five days for a single ad hoc charter. We track the permit together with the aircraft paperwork.
5Can I reach Matera, Alberobello and Polignano from the airport?
Yes. From Bari, Polignano a Mare is about 40 to 50 minutes by road, Alberobello about an hour, Matera about an hour (roughly 65 km) and Ostuni about 90 minutes. Lecce is about 40 km and 40 minutes from Brindisi. A helicopter covers Alberobello or Matera in about 24 minutes if the landing site is agreed first. Customs and immigration at Bari are not offered round the clock, so a very late arrival should be agreed beforehand.
6Can I take my dog to Bari on a private jet?
Usually yes: the dog normally travels in the cabin with you, and an EU country such as Italy asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used. Italy does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
