Private jet charter in Mozambique
Eleven hours in the air separate London from Maputo, and only a long-range jet covers them without a stop. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Mozambique that means a landing permit from the civil aviation institute, a handler named before departure, an electronic travel authorisation for every passenger and a straight answer on which parts of the country a jet can reach.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Mozambique depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Global 6000 flying nonstop to Maputo International Airport and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Mozambique?
Mozambique keeps Central Africa Time, two hours ahead of Greenwich all year, so the gap with Britain is two hours in winter and one in summer. A Global 6000 that leaves Biggin Hill at eight in the evening, London time, in winter reaches Maputo at around nine the next morning, local time. Sectors to Maputo, gate to gate:
5,145 nautical miles, the nearest London field and the base for the price at the top of the pageabout 11 h
5,457 nautical miles, the main Scottish departureabout 11 h 40 min
Range comes before price
Maputo lies 5,145 nautical miles from Biggin Hill by our routing allowance. A Global 6000 is published at roughly 6,000 nautical miles, so the run is inside its range with a reserve, and it is the aircraft behind the title price.
A Praetor 600, at about 4,000 nautical miles, needs one fuel stop, and a Challenger 350, at about 3,200, needs two; Cairo to Maputo alone is 3,500 nautical miles. Each stop adds about an hour and a half and a second set of landing charges.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Mozambique
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain to Maputo, listed cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop Global 6000, because smaller jets need at least one fuel stop. London City is left out, since its short runway is a poor start for a sector this long:
| Route | Aircraft | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|
| London Biggin Hill - Maputo 5,145 nm / 9,529 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |

Global 6000 up to 13 |
from £147,450 |
A note on these figures
– The departure airfield moves the price by thousands and not by tens of thousands. Edinburgh costs about £8,150 more than Biggin Hill on the same aircraft, and each hundred nautical miles adds roughly £2,600 on a Global 6000;
Maputo is the anchor because it has the longest runway, the customs post and the handlers. Two other airfields take a Global 6000 from Britain, and both lie nearer to London:
| Route from Biggin Hill | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biggin Hill - Tete 4,592 nm / 8,504 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 9 h 50 min | from £124,450 |
| Biggin Hill - Beira 4,834 nm / 8,953 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 10 h 20 min | from £130,750 |
| Biggin Hill - Maputo 5,145 nm / 9,529 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 11 h | from £138,900 |
Tete is £14,450 cheaper than Maputo from Biggin Hill and Beira £8,150 cheaper, because both are nearer, but Maputo is the capital and the usual start of a trip to the islands, which is why the title names it.
Private jet flights within Mozambique and to its neighbours
Mozambique has a coastline of about 2,500 kilometres, and the roads along it are slow. A jet from Britain lands at Maputo, Beira or Tete, and a turboprop covers the rest. These sectors start at Maputo and include Johannesburg:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maputo - Inhambane 205 nm / 380 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 15 min | from £3,100 |
| Maputo - Vilankulo 290 nm / 537 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 35 min | from £4,000 |
| Maputo - Beira 405 nm / 750 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 2 h | from £5,200 |
| Maputo - Johannesburg 243 nm / 450 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 05 min | from £6,800 |
| Maputo - Tete 616 nm / 1,141 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 2 h 45 min | from £7,350 |
| Maputo - Nampula 781 nm / 1,446 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 3 h 25 min | from £9,100 |
| Maputo - Pemba 933 nm / 1,728 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 3 h 55 min | from £10,650 |
A note on the sectors inside the country
– Vilankulo and Inhambane have main runways of about 1,500 metres and Pemba about 1,800, which suits a turboprop or a light jet. Whether a foreign-registered aircraft may fly a domestic sector is a point we put to the aviation authority, and the Pemba row is a price and a time, not a recommendation: see the travel advice below.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Mozambique:
Turboprops and light jets
The class for the hops once the party is in Mozambique.
Super-midsize
From London a Praetor 600 needs a fuel stop and a Challenger 350 needs two.
Large cabin
For a delegation with staff, flown with stops on the way out.
Ultra-long range

Business aviation airports in Mozambique
Mozambique has no network of executive terminals: one proper gateway, one strong second field and a row of small coastal airports. The useful question about each is what it can do for a business jet:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Maputo International MPM / FQMA |
About 3 km north-west of the city centre, at about 44 metres | The gateway, with a runway of 3,660 metres (05/23), the longest of the airports listed here, and a second of 1,700 metres. Customs and immigration are listed. Hours are listed as weekdays from 06:00 to midnight local, other times on three hours' notice; an older UN listing says round the clock. Slots are not required, and handling is booked anyway |
| Beira BEW / FQBR |
Central coast, 405 nm from Maputo | A main runway of about 2,400 metres (12/30) at about 10 metres. Listed hours are 06:00 to 20:00 local, overtime on three hours' notice. Customs, immigration and Jet A-1 are listed. The jet gateway for the central coast |
| Tete TET / FQTT |
Zambezi valley, 616 nm from Maputo | One asphalt runway of about 2,500 metres at 160 metres. Listings do not show customs, so an arrival from abroad is agreed with the authorities in advance |
| Nampula APL / FQNP |
Northern Mozambique, 781 nm from Maputo | A runway of 2,000 metres (05/23) at 440 metres, with customs and immigration listed and daytime hours of about 06:00 to 20:00 local. We check the performance of a long-range aircraft here before planning it |
| Vilankulo VNX / FQVL |
Gateway to Bazaruto, 290 nm from Maputo | A main runway of roughly 1,450 metres (sources give 1,439 and 1,470). The place for a turboprop or a light jet, and the start of the crossing to the islands |
| Inhambane INH / FQIN |
Tofo coast, 205 nm from Maputo | One asphalt runway of 1,500 metres (16/34). Handling is not listed, so we arrange a visiting aircraft through an agent |
| Pemba POL / FQPB |
Far north, 933 nm from Maputo | A runway of about 1,800 metres (17/35). It lies in the area covered by British government advice against all but essential travel |
At Maputo the aviation directories list General Aviation Services (G.A.S.) as an FBO and handler with ramp services, fuel and pilot services, and name JetPlus Aviation Services, Africa Aviation Executive Services and Just Aviation as flight support companies. None of the listings shows a lounge or a private customs room, so we do not promise one: we ask the handler in writing what is provided for your aircraft on your date.
Three points settle most Mozambican arrivals before a quote goes out:
Landing permit: ask early
A private flight needs landing permission from the civil aviation institute, IACM. Handler guidance quotes 24 to 48 working hours for a standard request, an older UN listing up to 7 to 10 days for a first clearance.
Validity and changes
One handler quotes a validity of 24 hours. A new tail number, type, date, time or route needs reconfirming, and an older UN listing says Maputo closes for 30 minutes before and after VIP flights.
Crew and passengers
Crew enter on a general declaration, and one handler says crew visas are issued on arrival for up to 72 hours.
Arriving from Britain: passports, authorisation and customs
The British government's entry rules decide whether the border stamp is a formality:
valid for at least six months after the day of arrival, with at least two blank pages for entry stampsevery passenger, children included
required for tourism and business stays of up to 30 days, applied for through the official eVisa portal at least five working days before travel and paid for online; payment at the border is not possibleapply before the flight is confirmed
a yellow fever certificate is needed if you arrive from a country listed as a transmission risk; a polio certificate is needed in certain circumstancescarry the certificates
cash worth 10,000 meticais or more must be declared, and so must foreign cash or travellers' cheques worth 5,000 US dollars or moredeclare in the hall
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no UK electronic travel authorisation. Most other nationalities do.
Read the travel advice before you book
The British government advises against all travel to Cabo Delgado province, except Palma town and the area around Pemba and Afungi, which it treats as all but essential travel. It also advises against all travel to the districts of Memba and Eráti in Nampula province and to Mecula and Marrupa in Niassa province. Maputo, Beira, Tete, Vilankulo and Inhambane lie outside these warnings.
Travel insurance can be invalid for a journey made against the advice. We plan Maputo, the central coast and the southern islands as ordinary trips, and we do not plan the warned areas.

Which airport for which part of Mozambique
The airfields are far apart, so what matters is where the party sleeps and where the work is:
a coastal city on Maputo Bay, with a fortress completed in 1787 and the Polana Hotel; the airport is about 3 km from the centreMaputo
the province draws divers for whale sharks and manta rays; the airport is small and suits a turbopropInhambane, by turboprop
the islands lie off Vilankulo, with lodges such as Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort, about 30 km from the coast, and Azura Benguerra Island; the crossing is by dhow, or by charter helicopter or light aircraft at a higher priceVilankulo, then dhow or helicopter
the second gateway, with customs; Gorongosa National Park lies in the central region, and we confirm the airstrip and the road before we plan a visitBeira
Maputo, the coast and the islands: what our clients go for
Business is the larger part of it. The Mozal aluminium smelter is described as the largest foreign investment project in the country, and coal exports, natural gas discoveries and titanium projects have added lenders, engineers and contractors to the routes. Many of these visits are short.
Tourism is the second reason, and the national strategy favours high-value, low-volume travel. The Bazaruto islands are a marine national park with dugongs, whale sharks and manta rays. The northern beaches, including the Quirimbas Islands, lie where the travel advice matters most, so the programme follows the advice.
Portuguese is the only official language and the metical is the currency, so we ask the handler for a meeter who speaks both Portuguese and English.
The Mozambican year: a dry winter and a wet summer
The wet season runs from about October to March and the dry season from April to September, and the difference shows in Maputo's rainfall:
the wettest months, with about 171, 130 and 126 millimetres of rain; January is also the hottest month, with a mean temperature of 26.8 degreeswet and hot
the driest months, with about 15 to 20 millimetres a month; July is the coolest, with a mean temperature of 18.8 degreesdry and mild
the dry season from about May to November is the usual recommendation, December and January are very hot, and humpback whales pass from June to September, with whale sharks from October to early DecemberMay to November
Cyclones and flight planning
Cyclones are common in the wet season, with the risk highest from January to March. A storm can close a coastal airfield for days, so a trip in those months needs a flexible date. Tete is a separate case: in November its mean daily high reaches 36.4 degrees, and a heavy jet carries less on a hot afternoon.
The Mozambican calendar: trade fair and national days
Some dates fill the hotels of Maputo or close the offices that issue permits, so we check the date for the year of travel:
A landing permit requested on the day before a holiday is the hardest to get, so a booking made weeks before FACIM or Independence Day is simpler than one made in the last week.

Flying to Mozambique with a dog or a cat
The cabin is not the problem. The paperwork is.
The one fact to read before you book
Pet travel guidance says an import permit is required and should be applied for well in advance, the health certificate must be issued by a licensed vet within 10 days of travel and endorsed by the authority of the departure country, and the rabies vaccination must be given between 30 days and 12 months before arrival. Maputo is the only entry point listed for pets arriving by air. How this applies to a private jet is not stated, so we confirm each figure in writing.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination, as the return to Britain requires;
- The import permit and the British export health certificate, with the vaccination record and proof of DHPP for a dog or FVRCP for a cat;
- For the return, a rabies blood test at least 30 days after the vaccination, a wait of three months from the sample date and a Great Britain pet health certificate, because Mozambique is not on the simple-route list as we understand it;
- For dogs only, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before arrival in Britain. A cat needs no treatment.
GOV.UK does not say how the approved-route rule applies to a private aircraft, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing before the flight. An animal that does not meet the rules can be quarantined for up to four months. Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Many trips to Mozambique are one-way by nature: a team flies out for a project meeting and the aircraft comes home or moves on.
Most legs come from aircraft that take a party to Maputo and fly back without passengers.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. Typical Mozambican empty legs:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Johannesburg - Maputo | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £2,850 |
| Maputo - Harare | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £4,950 |
| Maputo - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £58,350 |
| Maputo - UK (Farnborough) | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £58,450 |
| UK (London Luton) - Maputo | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £58,750 |
| UK (Birmingham) - Maputo | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £59,350 |
| UK (Manchester) - Maputo | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £60,000 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Maputo | Global 6000 | 13 seats | £61,750 |
How to read those figures
Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Global 6000 from London Luton to Maputo at £58,750 with eight aboard comes to about £7,350 a head.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter in Mozambique is a tool for the edges of a trip, arranged case by case. We do not publish a standing service, because the machine, the crew and the permission for each landing site come from local operators and the authorities. Helicopters and light aircraft are available by charter for the Bazaruto crossing, at a higher price than the dhow. The time below is a straight-line planning estimate:
about 30 km off the coast, in place of a dhow crossingabout 15 min
Before you plan around a helicopter
The authorities control where a helicopter may land, a marine national park has its own rules, and the British advice excludes parts of the country, so we confirm every landing site before we quote.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Mozambique
1How long does it take to fly to Mozambique by private jet?
About 11 hours nonstop from London Biggin Hill to Maputo on a Global 6000, and 11 hours 40 minutes from Edinburgh. A Praetor 600 needs one fuel stop and a Challenger 350 needs two.
2How much does a private jet to Mozambique cost?
From about £138,900 one way from Biggin Hill to Maputo on a Global 6000. Edinburgh costs about £8,150 more on the same aircraft, and a hop from Maputo to Vilankulo starts from £4,000 on a turboprop.
3Do British passengers need a visa and a permit for a private flight to Mozambique?
British passengers need an electronic travel authorisation for stays of up to 30 days, applied for at least five working days before travel, and a passport valid for six months after arrival. The aircraft needs a landing permit from the civil aviation institute, IACM.
4Can I fly a private jet to Pemba or the north of Mozambique?
Pemba has an airport with a runway of about 1,800 metres, but the British government advises against all travel to Cabo Delgado province except Palma town and the area around Pemba and Afungi, where it advises against all but essential travel. We do not plan flights into the warned areas.
5Can I take my dog or cat to Mozambique on a private jet?
Yes, in the cabin, but start early. It needs a Mozambican import permit and a health certificate issued within 10 days of travel, and Maputo is the only entry point listed for pets by air. For the return it needs a microchip, a rabies blood test and a Great Britain pet health certificate, as we understand the rules, and a tapeworm treatment for dogs. We confirm each step in writing.
