Private jet charter in Haugesund

Under two hours in a light jet separates a London airfield from the Karmøy coast, close enough for a shipping meeting, a film premiere or a day among Viking mounds to fit into one stretch of the diary. Haugesund is a small town with an outsized reputation: Norway's maritime capital, the home of its oldest film festival and the doorway to the islands and fjords of the Haugaland. Its airport stands on Karmøy, across the Karmsund strait from the town, and it runs on different terms from Stavanger, 58 km to the south in a straight line: fixed opening hours, compulsory handling on international flights and customs that come only through the handler. Private Jets UK plans the charter around each of them. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Haugesund Airport Karmøy suits a private jet well, with a 2,120 m runway and an instrument landing system, provided the arrival fits inside the airport's hours.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Haugesund depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Haugesund?

One and a half to just under two hours from the London fields, with an hour added to the clock on landing, because Norway keeps Central European time. The British airfields in the table lie between 277 and 581 nautical miles away. Aberdeen is the short crossing at about an hour in the air, and Cardiff, Southampton and Bristol are the long ones at about 1 hour 40 minutes. Each row gives the sector from one British field, with the aircraft we would normally quote for it.

Door to door, by the Norwegian clock

A departure from Luton at seven in the morning reaches Haugesund about 1 hour 35 minutes later, at 8.35 by British time and 9.35 by the clock on the wall in Norway. The town is about 8 km from the airport as the crow flies and 15 to 20 minutes away by car, so a client who set out from central London at half past five can be sitting in a Haugesund meeting room by half past ten, local time. The way home is the same sum in reverse, and the airport's evening hours leave room for a dinner first.

Light, midsize or larger: the Haugesund test

– Up to five passengers with ordinary luggage means a light jet: about 1 hour 35 minutes in a CJ3+ from Luton or London City, and about an hour from Aberdeen. The saving over a midsize cabin is clear in the price table;

– Ski bags for the Røldal and Haukeli slopes, hiking kit for Hardanger, or the equipment cases of a film crew or an inspection team take a party past what a light-jet hold carries. We then quote a midsize cabin next to the light one so that the difference is visible;

– Runway length is rarely the constraint, since 2,120 metres is generous for light, midsize and super-midsize jets. Space on the apron can be: the airport's tariff says parking places for general aviation are limited, so a large jet, or a party that wants the aircraft to stay for several days, needs its parking confirmed before the quote is final.

Prices for the private jet flights to Haugesund

Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Haugesund Karmøy. From Luton, at 506 nautical miles, the run is 20 nautical miles longer than the same trip to Stavanger, and the price follows by about £250. The film festival and Sildajazz weeks in August, and the blossom weekends in Hardanger in May, can sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down shows when.

Private jet flights from Haugesund

Haugesund is a convenient starting point for the west coast, for Oslo and for the Danish and Scottish sectors. A Pilatus PC-12 reaches Bergen in about 35 min, Kristiansand in about 45 min and Oslo in a little over an hour, while Copenhagen and Billund are jet sectors that fit inside a morning. Aberdeen and Edinburgh are the way back across the North Sea. Typical one-way prices:

Short hops: why a turboprop, and why the same price

Bergen is 59 nautical miles from Haugesund and Kristiansand 117, so the Pilatus PC-12 covers either in under an hour. Oslo Gardermoen, at 193, takes about 1 hour 5 minutes and Trondheim, at 308, about an hour and a half. Because short sectors are charged at a minimum, the first three cost exactly the same, which is worth knowing when you decide whether to go on to Oslo rather than stop at Bergen. Stavanger is closer still, 32 nautical miles and about half an hour in the air, and it is the sector that saves most against the road: the drive takes about two hours and includes a car ferry.

Three checks before you accept an onward quote

– Ask what lies at the other end. Stord Sørstokken, the nearest airfield to the north, has a 1,460 metre runway and suits a turboprop better than a jet, and many fjord towns have only short strips, so a quote that puts a jet on one of them has to be corrected once the real aircraft is chosen;

– Price the circuit as one booking. When the aircraft and crew stay with you between stops, you do not pay for each empty flight home, which is why a loop through Haugesund, Bergen and Oslo usually comes out cheaper than three separate charters;

– Put the animal first. A dog or cat arriving from Britain must clear Norwegian entry at Oslo, so Haugesund can only be the second landing, and an onward quote that begins in Haugesund will be wrong.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h
Medium-sized jet (Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP)£3,000 - 3,700/h
Large medium-class jet (Challenger 300)£4,600 - 5,500/h
Large jet (Legacy 600)£4,900 - 5,800/h
Long-haul jet (Global 5000, G550, Falcon 7X)£5,800 - 8,800/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Haugesund:

Light jets, for the North Sea crossing

Two hours at most from London, so a light cabin is rarely a hardship. It suits up to five people with ordinary bags and covers most maritime and offshore day trips.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for ski bags and equipment cases

Skis, film or inspection cases and a week of mountain clothing push a party past the light-jet hold, and a midsize cabin leaves a team room to work on the way.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

For a board or delegation that travels as one party, and for itineraries that carry on from Haugesund to Oslo or Copenhagen without changing aircraft.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h
Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The aircraft for the Norwegian hops: Bergen, Kristiansand and Oslo are 35 to 65 minutes away, and a turboprop is at home on the shorter runways of the smaller fields.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

Helicopters

Not for the crossing from Britain but for the last stretch: the Hardangerfjord, the Folgefonna glacier and Trolltunga, or the islands off the coast. Landing sites away from an aerodrome are restricted, so the site is agreed before the quote.

That list is only a fraction of the fleet. Haugesund lies between the Stavanger and Bergen fleets, so outside the festival weeks there is often an aircraft already positioned within an hour of the airport, in Stavanger, Bergen or Aberdeen, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Haugesund

One airport serves the town, and the real choice is between it and Stavanger when the hour is late or the weather poor. The others are in the table because a Norwegian itinerary tends to touch them.

Airport What it gives you
Haugesund Airport, Karmøy
HAU / ENHD
The airport for the town and the Haugaland coast. It stands at Helganes on the island of Karmøy, with one asphalt runway, 13/31, of 2,120 by 45 metres, an instrument landing system and fire cover of category 7. The control service is listed with fixed hours from early morning to late evening, not round the clock, and customs is available through the handling agent, which is compulsory on international flights. The operator is Lufthavndrift AS, under a long concession from the state, the airport handles roughly 600,000 passengers a year, and the E134 road to the east begins at the terminal
Stavanger, Sola
SVG / ENZV
About 58 km to the south in a straight line and around two hours by road, with a ferry on the way. Sola is the fallback for a late arrival or poor weather, because its control service and customs are listed round the clock, its main runway is listed at 2,556 m, and it has a dedicated general aviation terminal, which Haugesund does not advertise
Bergen, Flesland
BGO / ENBR
About 105 km to the north in a straight line, with a 2,990 m runway and a control service listed as round the clock. The airport to choose when Haugesund is one stop in a longer tour that takes in Bergen itself and the northern fjords
Stord, Sørstokken
SRP / ENSO
A regional field about 50 km to the north of Haugesund in a straight line, with a 1,460 m runway that makes it a turboprop airfield rather than a jet one. It matters only if the trip really ends on Stord or in the Sunnhordland islands
Oslo Gardermoen
OSL / ENGM
The entry point for animals. Dogs and cats arriving from Britain must be presented at Oslo Airport or at the Storskog crossing near Kirkenes, so the first landing for a trip with a pet is Oslo, and the domestic leg on to Haugesund is 193 nautical miles, a little over an hour in a turboprop

Four points settle most Haugesund arrivals:

Handling is compulsory

The airport's tariff regulations require ground handling for any aircraft above 2,000 kg, which covers every business jet, and the Avinor list of operating hours shows customs as available through that mandatory handling. The airport's own website names Aviator and Widerøe Ground Handling for baggage handling, and trade listings add Access Oslo Executive Handling and Andersen Airport Service. We confirm in writing which company is handling your aircraft and book it on every flight.

Hours and late arrivals

The Avinor list shows the control service from about 06:20 to 22:00 local time on weekdays, from 07:00 to 22:00 on Saturdays and from 08:00 to 23:30 on Sundays; the list is in UTC, so these are converted figures, and we confirm the hours for your date in writing. A landing or departure outside the opening hours needs a written application to the operator, with a price quoted on top of the normal charges. A festival dinner that overruns is therefore something to plan, and Sola, listed as open round the clock, is the fallback.

Border and passport

Norway is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passports are checked on arrival, and we confirm the arrangement for the check with the airport ahead of the flight. British passport holders need no visa for a short stay, with a passport less than ten years old at entry and valid for three months after departure. Norway is outside the EU, so customs applies: goods up to NOK 6,000 (about £450) are duty-free after more than 24 hours abroad, and cash above NOK 25,000 (about £1,900) is declared. The crew notifies Norwegian customs of the arrival on or before landing.

Parking on the apron

Parking places for general aviation are limited, and the operator asks to be contacted before an aircraft parks. Under the published tariff an aircraft above 2,730 kg parks free for the first two hours and is charged in time bands after that, so a day trip costs little to park, while an overnight stay needs the space agreed in advance. For the film festival and the jazz weekend, ask for the parking together with the aircraft.

business aviation

Border, passport and the way home

Norway sits inside Schengen, so the formalities happen at the first Norwegian landing, and for a party without animals that landing can be Haugesund. Flights on to Bergen or Oslo afterwards are domestic and cross no border. Customs is the part that people forget. Norway is not in the EU, so the allowances for food, alcohol and tobacco apply to everyone who comes in, and the value limit applies to each member of the party, which matters to a team carrying demonstration equipment or film gear that it means to leave behind. For the way home, the General Aviation Report goes to the British border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure. British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, and other passengers should check whether they need one before they return.

From the apron to the Karmsund strait

Haugesund is a harbour town built on herring money and shipowners, with a Viking king in its back garden, and from the airport it feels closer than the map suggests. The old royal seat of Avaldsnes, which gives the airport its postal address, lies on the strait just south of the town. Its medieval church took about seventy years to build, the Nordvegen History Centre beside it is mostly underground to protect the site, and a reconstructed farm has a 25-metre longhouse. Harald Fairhair's monument, Haraldshaugen, stands in the northern suburbs of Haugesund: a granite obelisk 17 metres high on a mound.

Airport to Haugesund

Haugesund to Stavanger by road

Flying to Haugesund with a dog or a cat

Haugesund cannot be the place where an animal arrives in Norway. A dog or cat coming from Britain has to be presented at Oslo Airport or at the Storskog crossing in the far north, so the aircraft lands in Oslo first and flies the last 193 nautical miles as a domestic leg. The animal travels in the cabin with you, never in a hold.

private flight with animals

What Norway requires:

  • A microchip to the ISO 11784 standard, fitted before the rabies vaccination and never after it;
  • A rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks of age or later, with its validity starting 21 days after the primary course is complete;
  • An animal health certificate from an official vet, in the EU model for third countries, for each journey;
  • A rabies antibody test, taken at least 30 days after the vaccination and at least three months before entry, with a result of 0.5 IU/ml or more, unless the country of departure is on the EU list of exempt third countries. Whether Britain counts for this purpose is something the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Mattilsynet, confirms for your dates;
  • For a dog, a tapeworm treatment given by a vet 24 to 120 hours before entry and certified by an official vet. Cats and ferrets are exempt;
  • Notice to Mattilsynet at least 48 hours before arrival;
  • No more than five animals on a non-commercial journey.

Where pet trips to Haugesund go wrong

– Planning Haugesund as the first stop. The sequence has to be London, Oslo, Haugesund, it has to be in the quote from the start, and the last leg must land before the airport's evening closing time, which is listed as 22:00 local on weekdays;

– Counting a second dose. Norway wants the tapeworm dose before the way in, so a dog sees a British vet before departure, counted back from the Oslo landing; the direct flight home needs none, unless the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one;

– Booking places that say no. Hotels, helicopter operators and boat trips each accept animals on their own terms, and a helicopter day over the fjords may exclude the dog altogether, so settle every one of them before the quote.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less common are collected in our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, a dog flying directly from Norway to Britain needs no tapeworm treatment, which is needed only if the dog has been elsewhere or the routing includes another country, and we confirm the entry point, the routing and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

The Haugesund calendar: herring, film and a blossoming fjord

The calendar here is built around a summer festival season that packs a great deal into a small town, with a fjord side that peaks in May and a winter side that belongs to the mountain road east. Rain falls on the town at about 1,663 mm a year, which makes a spare day on any fjord or helicopter plan cheap insurance.

Winter
The E134 east of Haugesund climbs to the Haukeli pass, whose highest point is 1,085 metres, and the Røldal ski centre is said to receive the most snow of any populated place in Norway. Snow and weather can close the pass briefly, so a ski trip needs slack in the plan
May
On Karmøy, the Kopervik festival and the Karmøygeddon metal festival, which draws more than 4,000 visitors over three days, fall in this month. A local rather than a corporate crowd, with moderate demand for the airport
Mid-May to mid-June
The fruit trees of the Hardangerfjord blossom, usually starting in mid-May and lasting about a month, around Ulvik, Lofthus and the Sørfjord shore. The week around 17 May is the usual target. By road it is a long day from Haugesund, and a short one by helicopter
Early June
The Viking Festival at Avaldsnes is held at the beginning of June, and the Bykalas music festival and the Sveiofestivalen garden party fall in the same month. Heritage and music weekends for visitors who want the Viking story told on the site itself
Late June to early July
Skudefestivalen fills Skudeneshavn with more than 600 boats, old wooden craft and tall ships among them, and about 35,000 visitors over four days. The old town is compact and crowded at this time, so rooms and tables go early
July
The Skånevik Blues Festival, running since the 1990s, and the Vikedal Roots Music Festival are held this month, and Utsira has its own food and music days, the Siradagene. Island and fjord villages that suit small parties and short stays
Early to mid August
Sildajazz, named for the herring that made the town, started with four bands in the late 1980s and now has about 70 bands, close to 400 musicians and more than 200 events, with the second weekend of the month at its heart. The harbour days, Havnedagene, also appear in the August listings, with the Sildebord, billed as the world's longest herring table
Second half of August
The Norwegian International Film Festival, held in Haugesund since the 1970s and the oldest film festival in the country, runs this week together with the Amanda Awards, the national film prizes, presented here since the 1980s in 22 categories. The town fills with film people, and the airport, the hotels and the cars fill with them

Why festival weeks cost more

The aircraft are not the scarce item. Rooms are, because the town is small, and so is the apron, since the airport asks for general aviation parking to be arranged in advance and has a limited number of places. In the film festival and jazz weeks we ask for the parking and the handler together with the aircraft. A booking made a fortnight before can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Stavanger or Aberdeen. The same booking made as soon as the dates are announced is simpler and cheaper, and outside the festival weeks a charter to Haugesund can usually be arranged in a day or two, weather permitting.

Ways to bring the Haugesund price down

  • Be honest about the destination. Haugesund is the right airport for the town, Karmøy and the road east. For Stavanger itself the better airport is Sola, and from Luton a light jet costs about £250 less;
  • Move the dates away from the festival weeks where the diary allows. The days after the jazz weekend and after the film festival are calmer;
  • Ask where the aircraft is. A jet already at Stavanger, Bergen or Aberdeen needs less positioning than one coming from the south of England, and on a sector this short the positioning is a large share of the bill.

Types of flights

Haugesund draws a mix that is part industry, part festival and part heritage, with a good deal of coast and mountain within reach of a small airport.

  • Maritime and energy business: the Norwegian Maritime Authority has its headquarters in the town, and Aibel, the Kårstø gas plant, Equinor and Hydro's aluminium works on Karmøy are all part of the regional economy;
  • Maritime conferences, such as Floating Wind Days, Maritim Uke and the Subsea Operations Conference;
  • Film-industry travel for the festival and the Amanda Awards;
  • Festival weekends around Sildajazz, the Viking Festival at Avaldsnes and Skudefestivalen;
  • Heritage and nature trips to Avaldsnes, Haraldshaugen, Utsira and Skudeneshavn, and fjord days by road or helicopter;
  • Winter trips east along the E134 to the Røldal and Haukeli mountains, and passengers joining or leaving a ship, since Haugesund is a cruise port.

Haugesund works as a day trip from Britain. Leave Luton at seven, land at 9.35 local time, and take off again at six in the evening, well inside the airport's hours, and you are back in Britain at about 6.35. The crew waits at the airport through the day and that waiting is charged, yet the total usually comes in below two one-way charters, and we price the route both ways so that you can compare.

Empty Legs

Some jets cross the North Sea with nobody aboard, on their way to the next job, and the operator would rather sell that leg cheaply than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. Around Haugesund they follow the festival calendar and the weekends.

Where Haugesund empty legs come from

– Festival weekends. Aircraft bring guests in on a Thursday or Friday and leave empty, and the legs back to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and the London fields on the Sunday evening are the ones most often offered;

– The film festival week. Operators fly producers and press in, wait for nothing and go home, so the sectors out of Haugesund on the final days can be cheap;

– West coast positioning. Aircraft moving between Aberdeen, Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo put short legs on the market, and a hop to or from Haugesund can be one of them.

The corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, so a client who names a few days has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. The trade is the usual one: the date and the hour belong to the operator, and a leg disappears if the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Haugesund match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

Around Haugesund a helicopter reaches what the road makes slow: the Hardangerfjord, the Folgefonna glacier and Trolltunga, about three hours away by car. A tour operator lists a flight from Haugesund in an Airbus AS350 for up to five passengers, with about 30 minutes in the air and some 7.5 hours for the whole day, including the transfers and a drive back through Hardanger. The coast offers shorter flights, to Utsira, a lighthouse island west of Karmøy that is otherwise reachable only by boat, and along the Karmsund strait, with Avaldsnes and Haraldshaugen on either side.

Before you plan around a helicopter

– The Hardanger day is mostly a road day. A tour with 30 minutes in the air occupies the best part of eight hours, so the jet should land in the morning and the return should not be a late-evening departure;

– The limits are tight. Up to five passengers and a stated weight limit per flight mean that you tell us how many people are travelling, and roughly what their bags weigh, before the helicopter is confirmed;

– Mountain weather decides. Cloud on the glacier can cancel a flight on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so the fjord trip needs a road alternative, and the landing site, like any animal on board, is agreed with the operator before the quote.

For a private party we usually propose the single-engine Airbus H125 for the fjords, the wider H130 for scenic transfers, and the H135 or the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. A helicopter is booked with the jet, so the two crews share one timetable.

Haugesund charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What a Haugesund quote looks like once it becomes a flight: six typical jobs, outlined from our booking notes, with the particulars changed.

DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK

A maritime meeting and home for the evening

London Luton - Haugesund and return, Citation CJ3+, 1 h 35 min each way · 4 pax

Four people left Luton at seven, landed at Haugesund a little before ten local time and were in a meeting room in town by half past ten. The crew stayed at the airport instead of going home, which is a real line in the quote and still came to less than two separate one-way charters. The return left at six in the evening, inside the airport's hours, and was back in Britain before seven.

FILM WEEK · BOOKED EARLY

Five people for the festival and the awards evening

Farnborough - Haugesund, Citation CJ3+, 1 h 40 min · 5 pax

A production team travelling to the dates set by the festival programme and not by the client. The aircraft, the handler and the parking were booked together as soon as the dates were known, which is what kept a place on a small apron in the busiest week of the town's year. A booking made ten days out would have cost more and might have meant an aircraft brought across from Aberdeen.

NORTH SEA CROSSING · SAME DAY

An inspection team from Aberdeen

Aberdeen - Haugesund and return, Citation CJ3+, 1 h each way · 5 pax

Five engineers with laptops and a case of instruments flew over for an afternoon site visit in the Haugesund area. The instruments were listed for customs before departure, the passport check was agreed with the airport and the handler beforehand, and the car waited at the aircraft door, so the visit lost no time on arrival. They were home in Scotland for dinner.

FJORD · THE HELICOPTER DAY

Four friends, a blossom week and the Hardangerfjord from the air

Manchester - Haugesund, Phenom 300E, 1 h 20 min · 4 pax

They chose the middle of May for the blossom. The jet landed in the morning, the helicopter was booked for the same day, and a road plan through Hardanger was kept in reserve in case cloud sat on the glacier. It lifted by lunchtime, and the party flew over the fjord and Folgefonna before the drive back.

A DOG ON BOARD · OSLO FIRST

Three adults and a labrador for a week on Karmøy

Biggin Hill - Oslo - Haugesund, Citation CJ3+ · 3 pax + dog

The dog could not enter Norway at Haugesund, so the aircraft landed at Gardermoen first for the animal check and carried on to Karmøy, landing well inside the evening hours. The tapeworm treatment was timed inside the 24 to 120 hour window before entry, and the direct flight home from Norway needed none. The rented house accepted the dog, and the plan was settled in a single exchange of messages.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING HOME

A jet already going your way

Haugesund - Edinburgh, Citation CJ3+ empty leg · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought guests in for a festival weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for an evening departure to Scotland.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Haugesund

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Haugesund?

About 1 hour 35 minutes from Luton or London City in a Citation CJ3+, and about 1 hour 40 minutes from Biggin Hill or Farnborough, covering roughly 506 to 546 nautical miles. Coming from the north is quicker: about 1 hour 20 minutes from Manchester, 1 hour 15 minutes from Edinburgh and an hour from Aberdeen. Haugesund is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure from Luton lands at about 9.35 local time.

2How much does a private jet to Haugesund cost?

From about £7,600 one way on a light jet out of Luton, £7,800 from London City, £7,900 from Biggin Hill and £8,050 from Farnborough. A Phenom from Manchester runs £7,050, a midsize cabin costs £10,400 from Bristol, and from Aberdeen a light jet starts at £5,300, from Edinburgh £5,850. The film festival and Sildajazz weeks can price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use for Haugesund?

Haugesund Airport Karmøy (HAU / ENHD), on the island of Karmøy about 8 km from the town, with a 2,120 m runway and an instrument landing system. Ground handling is compulsory on international flights and customs is available through it. The control service is not round-the-clock, so for a very late arrival, or for Stavanger itself, Sola (SVG / ENZV), about 58 km away in a straight line, is the alternative.

4Can a private jet land at Haugesund in the evening or at the weekend?

Yes, within the airport's hours. The control service is listed from about 06:20 to 22:00 local time on weekdays, from 07:00 to 22:00 on Saturdays and from 08:00 to 23:30 on Sundays, converted from the UTC figures in the Avinor list, and we confirm the hours for your date in writing. A landing or departure outside those hours needs a written application to the operator and is charged on top of the normal fees, and Sola, listed as open round the clock, is the usual fallback.

5When should I book a private jet to Haugesund?

Away from the peaks, a charter can often be arranged within a day or two. For the film festival in the second half of August, the Sildajazz weekend in early to mid August, the Viking Festival at the start of June and Skudefestivalen around the turn of June and July, book as soon as the dates are fixed. Rooms, parking on the apron and handling all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from Stavanger or Aberdeen.

6Can I take my dog to Haugesund on a private jet?

Yes, with Oslo as the first landing. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Norway asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old, a health certificate, notice to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority at least 48 hours before arrival and a tapeworm treatment from a vet 24 to 120 hours before entry. Animals from Britain may enter only through Oslo Airport or Storskog. On a direct flight back to Britain a dog needs no tapeworm treatment, unless it has been in another country or the routing includes one.
