Private Jet Charter to Astana from the UK
Six hours from Britain across the steppe, into one of the coldest capitals on earth, and the winter rather than the distance is what Private Jets UK plans a January booking around. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. This is a six-hour sector, so the aircraft is chosen for range before anything else and there is no question of using whatever happens to be nearby. What matters instead is finding a large or long-range cabin whose schedule already points east, and those are fewer than on any European route.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Astana depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Astana?
Around six hours from Britain, nonstop, across roughly 2,500 nautical miles of Europe and the steppe. Aberdeen and Newcastle are closer to Astana than any London field, which is the reverse of most long sectors and worth knowing if part of your party is in the north.

Range decides the aircraft before anything else does
Two and a half thousand nautical miles against the prevailing westerlies on the way home, with reserves and an alternate to carry, puts this sector beyond every light and midsize cabin. The Citation XLS+, to take the obvious example, runs out of range nearly five hundred miles short of Kazakhstan. The cabins that do make it are the Challenger 350 and 605, the Legacy 600, the Falcon 2000LXS and everything above them. A smaller cabin would need a fuel stop, usually in Turkey or the Caucasus, which adds an hour and a half on the ground and is rarely what a client wanted once it is explained.
Two things about the timing
– Kazakhstan is five hours ahead of London, so an early departure from Britain arrives in the evening and a night flight lands at breakfast with the difference already behind you;
– The return is the longer leg. Headwinds westbound commonly add twenty to thirty minutes over the outbound figure, and we quote the round trip with that allowance rather than discovering it on the day.

Almaty is the other half of most Kazakh itineraries
Astana is the seat of government and Almaty is where a great deal of the commerce still sits, so a week that involves Kazakhstan usually involves both. They are about five hundred nautical miles apart, which is an hour and a half in the air and not a drive anyone attempts. Held as one itinerary with the aircraft staying in the country, that internal leg costs a fraction of what a separate charter would. It also matters in winter: Almaty has the gentler climate of the two, and where the schedule allows we build the itinerary so that the weather-sensitive nights are spent at the southern end.
Two points on the wider network
– The Gulf is the common onward leg. Dubai and Doha are under four hours from here, and a trip that runs Britain to Astana to the Gulf and home is a familiar shape rather than an exotic one;
– Every country in this region has its own permit regime and its own lead times. We obtain each of them as part of the booking rather than handing the client a list, and that is precisely why the full shape of the trip is worth giving us up front instead of sector by sector.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The hourly figures above are preliminary and do not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! – the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6500 business jets (about 3500 in Europe and 3000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can’t post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. The following jets currently operate in Astana:
Super-midsize and large, the entry point
The smallest cabins that reach Kazakhstan nonstop from Britain. Anything below this class has to stop for fuel, which adds an hour and a half on the ground and appeals to almost nobody once seen on paper.
Long-range, where most of this traffic sits
Six hours in a cabin with a crew aboard and room to work or sleep. On a sector this length the difference from the class above is felt rather than read about.
Ultra-long-range and airliners
For delegations and for itineraries continuing to China or Southeast Asia without a stop. The runway here takes all of them at maximum weight in any weather.
Midsize, for the regional legs
Not for the flight from Britain, but for everything once you are here. Almaty, Bishkek and Tashkent are all inside two hours, and these are the cabins that do that work.

This is a small part of what is available. On a sector of this length the aircraft is sourced for range first, and we look at what is already scheduled eastwards before anything else.

Business aviation airports in Astana
One airport serves the capital, and it carries a name that no longer matches the city. That is not an error and it is worth explaining before anything else.
Why the airport and the city have different names
The capital has been renamed more often than almost any city in the world: Akmolinsk, then Tselinograd under the Soviet virgin lands campaign, then Akmola, then Astana when it became the capital, then Nur-Sultan, and then Astana again. The airport took the name Nursultan Nazarbayev International before the city was renamed and kept it when the city changed back, so the aeroplane lands at an airport named after a man in a city that is no longer named after him. Nothing about this affects a booking. It does affect paperwork: flight plans, handling requests and older booking systems may show any of several names and two different IATA codes, and we make sure the operator and the handler are working from the same one.

Winter here is an operational question, not a comfort one
This is among the coldest capitals on earth. December and January regularly run below minus thirty, and the wind across open steppe pushes the felt temperature lower still. The airport is equipped for it and handles the conditions as routine, but two things follow for a private booking. De-icing is a scheduled part of every winter departure rather than an occasional delay, and it costs time on the ground that has to be in the plan rather than discovered on the morning. And in the deepest weeks a diversion is a real possibility rather than a theoretical one, so we agree the alternate with you in advance instead of leaving it to the operator on the day. Clients whose dates are flexible we point at the shoulder months, and clients whose business is in the south we point at Almaty, which has the gentler climate of the two.
The alternatives in the region, and when any of them earns its place:
| Airfield | When it is used |
|---|---|
| Almaty ALA / UAAA |
About five hundred nautical miles south and the commercial capital. Milder weather, and the standard alternate when Astana is closed by snow. Most Kazakh itineraries touch both cities anyway |
| Karaganda KGF / UAKK |
The nearest field of any size, around a hundred nautical miles south-west. Chiefly useful as a diversion airport rather than a destination |
| Kostanay and the northern fields KSN and the regional strips |
Regional airports serving the agricultural and mining north. They accept smaller aircraft and are used for onward legs rather than arrivals from Britain |
| Bishkek and Tashkent FRU and TAS |
Across the borders and inside two hours. Worth naming because a Central Asian week is usually built around several of these rather than around Astana alone |
Three practical points
– British passport holders enter Kazakhstan without a visa for stays of up to thirty days, with a cumulative limit across any rolling six-month period. Overstaying is treated seriously, so the dates are worth checking against that limit rather than assuming;
– A migration card is issued on arrival and has to be kept until you leave. It is a small piece of paper and it is the one document clients most often mislay;
– Landing permits for Kazakhstan are arranged by the operator and want lead time. In an ordinary week that is routine; around the major forums and state visits it is the part of the booking that needs the notice.
From the apron into the city
Fifteen kilometres on wide, empty roads, which in a city built from scratch on flat steppe means the drive is predictable in a way few capitals manage. Winter is the variable rather than traffic.
the presidential palace, the ministries and the newer hotels, and where most business visitors goabout 20 minutes
the ceremonial spine of the new city, laid out by Kisho Kurokawaabout 20 minutes
the pre-1997 city across the Ishim, where the older commercial district sitsabout 25 minutes
the newer business district that draws a good deal of the visiting trafficabout 25 minutes
the congress halls that host the international forums, on the left bankabout 25 minutes
the resort country north of the city, and a genuinely long drive rather than a short oneabout 3 hours
Three things to settle with the transfer
– In winter the car meets the aircraft rather than waiting at a kerb. At minus thirty the walk from steps to vehicle is the part of the journey people remember, and it should be measured in seconds rather than minutes;
– Tell us which bank of the river you are staying on. The left bank is the new government city and the right bank the older town, and although both are close to the airport they are different journeys;
– Ground transport in the deep winter wants a four-wheel drive rather than a saloon, and that is specified at the booking rather than hoped for on arrival.
Flying to Astana with an animal
Kazakhstan sits outside the EU pet travel scheme, so the paperwork is a different exercise from a European trip and needs starting earlier. The cabin rather than a cargo hold is the reason most owners fly privately on this route, and on a six-hour sector into that climate the reason is a strong one.
What the journey needs, and why it starts early
An ISO microchip, a current rabies vaccination and an official veterinary certificate issued shortly before travel are the constants. Beyond that Kazakhstan applies its own import conditions rather than the EU ones, an import permit is generally required, and the return to Britain has its own rules again since the country sits outside the EU scheme that makes European trips straightforward. None of this is difficult and all of it takes time, which is the point: a European trip can be arranged around an animal in a fortnight and this one cannot. We confirm the current requirements in writing for your species and your dates before anything is booked, because the rules here change more often than they do closer to home.
Three points particular to this route
– Nothing goes below deck on a private flight, so the animal lies at your feet for the whole six hours and clears the border alongside you in the business terminal rather than passing through other hands;
– Winter is the real constraint on the ground rather than in the air. At minus thirty a short-coated animal cannot wait outside at all, so the car meets the aircraft and waits with the heating running;
– The return leg needs planning at the same time as the outbound. Bringing an animal back into Britain from outside the EU scheme is the more demanding half of the trip, and it is not something to work out once you are there.
General requirements for cats, dogs and less usual species are gathered on our flying with pets guide, though for Kazakhstan specifically we work from the current official position rather than from a general page.
The Astana calendar: two seasons, and the forums in between
Locals say the city has two seasons, winter and preparation for winter, which is a joke with a good deal of truth in it. The business calendar works around that rather than against it.
warm, long days, the riverside open and the city outdoors. The simplest flying of the year and the season we suggest when the dates are yours to choosethe easy months
pleasant enough, the forum season at its densest and the hotels following it. Book a few weeks outthe shoulder
the economic and diplomatic gatherings fill the capital, and ramp space and hotel rooms go together rather than separatelythe tightest dates
the capital hosts heads of state regularly, and those days bring airspace and slot restrictions that are announced with little noticeshort, sharp closures
snow can arrive early and linger late, so these months want the winter allowances built in even when the forecast looks mildthe turning points
below minus thirty at the peak, de-icing on every departure and diversions a real possibility. Entirely flyable, and entirely a matter of planningthe deep winter
What a summit week does that a fair week does not
In most cities the busy weeks are commercial and the constraint is hotel rooms. Here the busiest weeks are diplomatic, and the constraint is different in kind. When heads of state are in the capital, airspace restrictions and slot limitations appear at short notice, ramp space is committed to state aircraft, and a private movement that was straightforward a week earlier becomes a matter of negotiation. None of it is insurmountable and all of it is easier with notice. We check your dates against the published calendar at the enquiry, and where a summit falls inside them we say so before the quote rather than after.
Types of flights
Six hours each way and a capital built around government rather than commerce give this route a particular mix, and almost none of it is leisure:
- Government and diplomatic travel, which is the largest single category and runs through the year rather than seasonally;
- Energy, mining and infrastructure business, where the itinerary usually continues to Almaty or across a border rather than returning straight to Britain;
- The international forum weeks, which behave as a category of their own and book further ahead than anything else;
- Financial and legal delegations to the Astana International Financial Centre, often travelling as a group with documents and equipment;
- Multi-country Central Asian weeks taking in Bishkek, Tashkent or Baku, all of which sit inside two hours of here;
- Onward legs to China and the Gulf, for which Astana is a well-placed staging point rather than an endpoint.
The multi-country itinerary deserves a note, because it is where the arranging actually happens. A week covering Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan needs permits for each, and every one has its own lead time and its own conditions. We ask for the whole shape of the trip at the enquiry even when the middle is still uncertain, because a permit sought late is the commonest reason a Central Asian itinerary has to be rearranged.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight the operator has to make regardless, sold with the cabin unoccupied at well under the price of a fresh booking. On this route they exist but behave nothing like the European ones, and the difference is worth understanding before you wait for one.
Why they are scarce here and valuable when they appear
– Few aircraft fly the sector. A London to Paris leg is one of thousands in a week; a Britain to Kazakhstan leg may be one of two or three, so the odds of one matching your dates are correspondingly slim;
– The saving is large in absolute terms. Taking half off a charter priced in the tens of thousands frees up a sum that a European saving never approaches, so a client able to shift dates is rewarded here far more than on a short sector;
– They cluster around the forums. Aircraft that bring delegations in for a summit leave empty within a day or two, and those weeks produce most of what appears on this corridor.
The practical method here is different from Europe. On a short route we tell clients to name a two-day window and wait. On this one we log what you need and keep watching, occasionally for a month or more, since the matching leg tends to surface a single time instead of recurring. A client who needs a fixed date should book a charter and stop thinking about it; a client with a month of latitude is the one this route rewards. What is free at the moment sits on the empty legs page.

Jet Sharing
Sharing means several unconnected parties agreeing to occupy one cabin on a single day and split the bill between them. On a sector priced like this one the arithmetic is striking and the matching is hard.
Divide forty-eight thousand pounds among twelve and the seat is four thousand. More than the airlines charge at the front of the aircraft, and considerably less than people expect a private seat this far east to cost, with a business terminal at each end and a landing fifteen kilometres from the ministries. The price is not the difficulty. Assembling a dozen travellers who all want the same midweek morning is.
Where the match actually comes up
– The forum weeks, which are the one time on this route when a good many separate British parties travel within the same forty-eight hours;
– Sector delegations, where several firms in energy or mining are visiting the same ministry in the same week and each has booked more cabin than it needs;
– The summer months, when the leisure and business calendars overlap and the traffic is at its densest.
Away from those periods a shared cabin here is something that might happen rather than something to build a trip on, and we make that plain at the outset instead of leaving anyone hoping. Tell us the dates and the headcount and we will say honestly which of the two you are looking at.

Helicopter charter
Rotary work in Kazakhstan is industrial rather than urban. The capital is compact and the roads are wide and empty, so a helicopter is not a way past traffic. What it does is reach a country the size of Western Europe with very little in between.
the shortest hop on the list, and one we talk clients out of far more often than intoabout 10 minutes
the hunting country and the country properties north of the city30 to 60 minutes
against three hours by road, and the one leg around the capital that regularly earns its costabout 45 minutes
south-west, and useful when the road is snowbound rather than merely longabout 1 hour
the working traffic across the steppe, and what most of this fleet actually does1 to 2 hours
When it earns its cost, and when it plainly does not
For the run into the city, never. Twenty minutes on an empty six-lane road is not a problem in search of a solution, and quoting a rotary transfer for it would be selling rather than advising. Where it earns its cost is distance and winter: a site three hours away across the steppe, a lake resort that the road reaches slowly, or any journey in a month when the road may simply be closed by snow. That last case is the one that matters most here, and it is why the rotary conversation on this route is more often about reliability than about speed.
Three constraints worth knowing
– Winter grounds rotary flying far more readily than it grounds a jet. Blowing snow, icing and short daylight all bite here, so a road plan stays in place behind every helicopter booking;
– Landing away from a licensed field needs permission in advance, and across a country this size that means days rather than hours;
– Distances are deceptive on a map with so few towns on it. A site that looks close may be two hours away, and the fuel planning follows from that rather than from the impression the map gives.
The machines working here are chosen for cold and for distance rather than for cabin trim. Twin-engine types are the sensible minimum for anything crossing open steppe, where a precautionary landing has nowhere obvious to go, and the fleet reflects a country whose rotary flying is largely industrial. The fleet is based here and flown by crews who know the steppe in winter, and a rotary sector is written into the same booking as the jet rather than arranged separately.

Astana charters from the booking notes: six recent trips
Six jobs from recent seasons, each chosen because it turned on something particular to this route. Names shortened to initials and one or two particulars changed.
WINTER · THE DIVERSION WE PLANNED FOR
A delegation travelling in late January
London Stansted - Astana, Challenger 605, about 5 h 55 min · 9 pax
The forecast was marginal and we agreed Almaty as the alternate before departure rather than leaving it to the day. In the event they landed at Astana without difficulty, but the fuel and the paperwork for the alternative were already in place. On this route in January that conversation belongs at the quote stage, not at the top of descent.

Farnborough - Astana, Gulfstream G550, about 6 h 15 min · 8 pax
One of the other quotes was appreciably lower and involved a midsize cabin that cannot fly this sector without stopping for fuel, which had not been spelled out. We priced a G550 nonstop, which cost more and arrived two hours earlier with nobody leaving the aircraft. The low quote was not a cheaper trip.
TWO CITIES · ONE AIRCRAFT FOR THE WEEK
An energy group covering the capital and the commercial centre
Luton - Astana - Almaty - Luton, Legacy 600 · 11 pax
Government meetings in Astana and commercial ones in Almaty, five hundred nautical miles apart. Held as one itinerary with the aircraft staying in the country, the internal leg cost a fraction of a separate charter. We put the Almaty nights in the middle of the week deliberately, because in February the southern city is the gentler place to be stuck.
FORUM WEEK · THE RAMP WENT FIRST
A party enquiring four weeks before a major summit
Manchester - Astana, Global 5000, about 6 h 10 min · 7 pax
The aircraft was findable, which on a long-haul route it usually is. Ramp space during a week when heads of state are in the capital was not, and slot restrictions were appearing at short notice. They flew in a day earlier than planned and the aircraft repositioned out rather than waiting on a stand it could not have had.
NAMES · THE PAPERWORK DISAGREED WITH ITSELF
A charter arranged through an older booking system
Enquiry · 6 pax
The client had a quote showing TSE, the handler was working to NQZ and the city on the documents was still Nur-Sultan. All three refer to the same place and none of it was anyone’s error, but a flight plan and a handling request that disagree cause delay at exactly the wrong moment. We reconciled the lot before the aircraft moved.
EMPTY LEG · SIX WEEKS OF WAITING
Mr T. R., with a month of latitude in spring
Astana - London, Legacy 600 empty leg, about 6 h 20 min · 5 pax
Long-haul empty legs on this corridor are scarce rather than frequent, and waiting for one takes weeks instead of days. He registered the requirement in March and travelled in late April on an aircraft repositioning out after a forum, at a little over a third of a fresh charter. Patience is the entire method on this sector.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Astana
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Astana?
About 5 hours 55 minutes from Stansted and around 6 hours from London City, nonstop, covering roughly 2,550 to 2,600 nautical miles. Aberdeen and Newcastle are actually closer to Astana than any London field, at about 5 hours 45 and 5 hours 50. The westbound return commonly runs twenty to thirty minutes longer because of headwinds.
2How much does a private jet to Astana cost?
From about 43,000 GBP one way on a Challenger 350 out of Aberdeen and 48,000 GBP on a Challenger 605 from Stansted, rising to around 61,000 GBP on a Global 5000 and 67,000 GBP on a Gulfstream G550. Each of those prices assumes a nonstop sector; quotes involving a fuel stop look lower on paper and land a good deal later in practice.
3Is the city called Astana or Nur-Sultan?
Astana. The capital was renamed Nur-Sultan in 2019 and changed back to Astana in September 2022, and Astana is the current and official name. The airport is a separate matter: it is still called Nursultan Nazarbayev International, having taken that name before the city was renamed and kept it afterwards. Its IATA code is NQZ, which replaced the older TSE.
4Which airport do private jets use in Astana?
Nursultan Nazarbayev International (NQZ / UACC), which is the only airport serving the capital. It sits about 15 km from the centre at 1,165 ft elevation, has a dedicated business aviation terminal with lounge, customs and hangarage, and a runway that takes every business aircraft including airliner cabins. Slots are coordinated and ramp space is booked in advance.
5What should I know about flying to Astana in winter?
It is one of the coldest capitals in the world, regularly below minus thirty in December and January, with steppe winds making it feel colder still. The airport handles this as routine, but de-icing is part of every winter departure rather than an occasional delay, and diversions do happen in the worst weeks. We agree the alternate in advance, build the de-icing time into the schedule and arrange the car to meet the aircraft rather than wait at a kerb.
