Private jet charter in Angola
A flight from Britain to Luanda takes about nine hours, which sits close to the limit of a super-midsize jet, so the choice of aircraft comes before the choice of date. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Angola that means a landing permit requested through a local agent, a handler named before the aircraft leaves Britain, the right visa for every passenger and a straight answer on which Luanda airfield the aircraft will use.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Angola depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 flying nonstop to Luanda Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Angola?
Angola keeps West Africa Time, one hour ahead of Greenwich all year and without daylight saving, so the clocks agree with Britain's in summer and Luanda is an hour ahead in winter. A Biggin Hill departure at eight in the morning, London time, lands after about nine hours of flying, in the early evening. These are the sectors to Luanda on a Praetor 600, gate to gate, from the fields our clients use most:
3,840 nautical miles, the closest of the London fields to Angola, and the base for the price quoted at the top of the pageabout 9 h
3,845 nautical miles, the usual field for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valleyabout 9 h 05 min
3,877 nautical miles, the choice for north London, Hertfordshire and the Midlandsabout 9 h 05 min
4,152 nautical miles, the main Scottish departure, about 300 nautical miles further than Biggin Hillabout 9 h 45 min
The distance settles the aircraft before the budget does
Luanda lies 3,840 nautical miles from Biggin Hill. A Praetor 600 is published at about 4,000 nautical miles of range with four passengers and reserves, so with two aboard the run fits, but the margin is only about 150 nautical miles, and a planner may ask for a fuel stop on a day with a strong headwind or a full cabin. A Challenger 350, quoted at about 3,200 nautical miles, needs one stop on the way out, and a midsize jet such as a Citation XLS+, at about 2,100, needs two.
A stop adds about an hour and a half and a second set of landing and handling charges. A Global 6000 flies the run with a wide margin, and it is the choice when the plan includes Catumbela or Lubango.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Angola
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain to Luanda, listed cheapest first. Every row is a nonstop Praetor 600, the smallest aircraft we price for this run without a fuel stop. London City is left out on purpose, because its short runway is a poor start for a sector of this length:
| Route | Aircraft | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|
| London Biggin Hill - Luanda 3,840 nm / 7,112 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
from £60,400 |

Praetor 600 up to 9 |
from £65,100 |
| Glasgow - Luanda 4,160 nm / 7,704 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
from £65,250 |
Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The departure airfield moves the price by a few thousand pounds and not by tens of thousands. Edinburgh costs about £4,700 more than Biggin Hill and Glasgow about £4,850 more;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies back empty. For a return trip with a stay of several days the aircraft either waits in Angola, with parking and crew accommodation as lines of their own, or flies home and returns for you.
Luanda is the anchor because it is where the offices, the embassies and the handlers are. The same departure to the other Angolan airports that take a business jet costs this, with the Praetor kept where it can reach and a Global 6000 used where it cannot:
| Route from Biggin Hill | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Biggin Hill - Cabinda 3,614 nm / 6,693 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 8 h 30 min | from £57,000 |
| Biggin Hill - Soyo 3,649 nm / 6,758 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 8 h 35 min | from £57,500 |
| Biggin Hill - Luanda (Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto) 3,840 nm / 7,112 km |
Praetor 600 up to 9 |
about 9 h | from £60,400 |
| Biggin Hill - Catumbela (Benguela and Lobito) 4,051 nm / 7,502 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 8 h 45 min | from £110,300 |
| Biggin Hill - Lubango 4,202 nm / 7,782 km |
Global 6000 up to 13 |
about 9 h 05 min | from £114,250 |
Why the title says Luanda
Cabinda is £3,400 cheaper than Luanda from the same airfield on the same aircraft, because it lies nearer to Britain, but it serves the oil industry and carries a travel warning outside the city. Catumbela costs £5,500 more than Luanda on a Global 6000, so the choice between the capital and the Benguela coast is made by the programme and not by the fare.
Private jet flights within Angola and to its neighbours
A typical Angolan trip is a hub and spoke: the jet from Britain lands near Luanda, and the party works in the capital with at most one flight out to a provincial airfield. The sectors below start at Luanda and include the neighbouring capitals and the regional hub of Johannesburg:

Two things worth knowing about the sectors inside Angola
– Whether a foreign-registered aircraft may fly a purely domestic sector, or a local operator must do it, is a point we confirm with the authority and the agent before you commit, and we quote a domestic leg as a line of its own;
– Provincial runways are long, but fuel, handling and customs are not always available, and the permit names every airport in advance. A Pilatus PC-12 is the ordinary tool for the coastal sectors.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Angola:
Turboprops and light jets
The class for the hops inside Angola once you are there. From London these jets reach Luanda only with two stops, which few clients accept.
Super-midsize
The smallest class that flies London to Luanda in one go, and the one our title price is built on. A Challenger 350 needs a technical stop on the way out.
Large cabin
For a team that will work through the flight, with room to rest on a sector of nine hours. Fuel stops are common on this run, and the extra hour is easier in a bigger cabin.
Ultra-long range
The class with the margin to fly Luanda to London nonstop with a full cabin and to reach Catumbela or Lubango from Britain without a stop.

Business aviation airports in Angola
Angola has long runways and thin services, so the useful question about each airport is what it can actually do for a business jet. Luanda is the gateway, and for Luanda the answer has changed once already:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Luanda Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International NBJ / FNBJ |
Bom Jesus, about 40 to 45 km south-east of the city, at about 165 metres | The airline airport of the capital. Two parallel runways of about 4,000 and 3,800 metres, listed as an airport of entry with customs. The listing shows neither slots nor compulsory handling, and not round-the-clock hours, so a late arrival is agreed in advance |
| Luanda Quatro de Fevereiro LAD / FNLU |
Southern part of the city, at 74 metres | Runways of about 3,716 and 2,600 metres. Closed to scheduled airline flights after the move to the new airport, and described by the press as a future base for maintenance, training and executive flights. The executive terminals of the capital have stood here |
| Catumbela (Benguela and Lobito) CBT / FNCT |
Benguela province, 214 nm from Luanda | One asphalt runway of 3,700 metres at 7 metres, run by the state airport company. Handler guidance lists daytime hours, typically 05:00 to 23:00 local. Customs, fuel and handling are confirmed for each flight |
| Lubango SDD / FNUB |
South-western highlands, 367 nm from Luanda | One runway of 3,150 metres at 1,761 metres above sea level, shared with the air force. Altitude cuts take-off performance on a warm afternoon |
| Cabinda CAB / FNCA |
Northern exclave, 230 nm from Luanda | One asphalt runway of 2,500 metres at 20 metres. Listed hours are 05:00 to 23:00 local, with night operations by arrangement. The British government advises against all but essential travel to the province outside Cabinda city |
| Soyo SZA / FNSO |
Mouth of the Congo river, 195 nm from Luanda | One asphalt runway of 2,090 metres at 5 metres, an oil and gas airfield with scheduled flights from Luanda and Cabinda. Handling and fuel are arranged through an agent |
Until the airlines moved out, the old Quatro de Fevereiro airport was where a business jet went, and two executive terminals were built there: VIPAero, a VIP terminal with its own customs and immigration, and Best Fly, a handler with lounges of its own. The published material does not say where a visiting business aircraft is handled now, and we do not guess: we ask the agent for the field, the terminal and the customs arrangement in writing before a quote becomes a booking.
The distance matters more than it looks on a map. The new airport is some 40 kilometres from the city centre, so the field decides whether a meeting at the ministry is a short ride or a long one. We book chauffeured cars through the handler or the hotel, because handlers in Luanda advise against street taxis.
Four points settle most Angolan arrivals before a quote goes out:
Landing permit: 48 to 72 working hours
Every flight into Angola, including a private flight and a technical stop, needs a landing permit from the national civil aviation authority, ANAC, applied for through a local licensed agent. Handler guidance quotes 48 to 72 working hours of lead time, and weekend and holiday permits are difficult.
Validity and changes
Guidance quotes a validity of 72 hours from the requested schedule. A new tail number, type, date, time or route needs the permit to be reconfirmed.
Fees and fuel
Older handler guidance says a royalty per passenger is payable to the aviation authority, and that fuel is sold by the state oil company and paid for through a reseller and not by card. Fees appear as lines of their own in the quote.
Crew and passengers
Crew normally enter on a general declaration with a passport and crew identification, and need no visa. Passengers are a different matter, set out in the next section.
Arriving from Britain: passports, visas and customs
Angola is far outside Europe's travel areas, and the British government's entry rules decide whether a passenger passes through in minutes or is held at the desk:
valid for at least six months after the day of arrival, with at least two blank pages; a dual national returning to Britain must carry a valid British passport or a certificate of entitlementevery passenger, children included
for tourism a British passport holder needs no visa for up to 30 days; for business, work or study a visa must be obtained in advance, and travellers without it may be stopped from boarding or detained on arrivala business trip needs a visa first
Angola carries a risk of yellow fever, and a vaccination certificate is needed for some onward travel, for example to South Africacarry the certificate
cash or travellers' cheques worth 5,000 US dollars or more must be declared; no more than 5,000 US dollars or its equivalent, plus up to 50,000 kwanzas in cash, may be taken outdeclare in the hall
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. Most other nationalities do.
Read the travel advice before you book
The British government advises against all but essential travel to Cabinda province, except Cabinda city, where separatist groups have carried out targeted attacks on foreigners and kidnapping is a risk, and to the strip within one kilometre of the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Lunda Norte, except at official crossings. Luanda, the coast and the highlands are outside both warnings.
Travel insurance can be invalid for a journey made against the advice. We plan Luanda, the Benguela coast and the highlands as ordinary trips, we do not plan the warned areas, and a flight is confirmed only when the operator holds the route, the permit and the insurance cover in writing.

Which airport for which part of Angola
Angola is large, the roads are slow and the airfields are few. What matters is where the party sleeps and where the work is:
a hot, dry coastal city and the economic centre of an oil economy; visiting crews often stay in hotels around Talatona, some 8 to 12 km from the old airport and further from the new oneLuanda
both lie in the north, near the mouth of the Congo river, and serve the offshore oil and gas work; Cabinda city is outside the strongest warning, and the rest of the province is inside itCabinda or Soyo, by turboprop
the coast south of Luanda, served by Catumbela with its 3,700 metre runway; about an hour from the capital by turbopropCatumbela
the falls drop 105 metres over a front of 400 metres on the Lucala river in Malanje province, about 360 km from Luanda; the trip is by road from the capitalLuanda, then by road
Luanda, the coast and the highlands: what our clients go for
Oil comes first. Luanda is the economic centre of the oil industry, with a refinery in the city and the deposits offshore, and many visits are made by executives, contractors and lenders who need a short stay in the capital and the same aircraft home. A private jet keeps a timetable the airlines cannot give on a route with few frequencies.
Trade is the second reason. The Luanda International Fair, FILDA, is held in July and brings buyers and exhibitors to the capital for a week. Travel is the third, and a small one: the Fortaleza de Sao Miguel, founded in 1576 and now the national museum of military history, and the Kalandula Falls draw those who want something beyond the oil fields.
The kwanza is the currency, and Portuguese is the working language of every desk, so we ask the handler for a meeter who speaks both languages and for the exchange arrangements.
The Angolan year: a dry coast and a rainy summer
Luanda has a hot semi-desert climate, because the cold Benguela Current keeps the coast dry. The temperature changes less than the rain does:
the main rains of the capital, about 114 millimetres in March and 136 in April; March is also the hottest month, with highs of about 31 degreeswet and hot
the dry months, known locally as the cacimbo, with fog and the coolest weather of the year; highs fall to about 25 degrees in Julydry and cooler
Altitude and heat change the payload
Lubango stands at 1,761 metres, and a jet leaving on a warm afternoon carries less. On the long sector home from Luanda, a full cabin and full tanks can also limit the payload on a hot day. We ask for the payload to be confirmed in writing.
The Angolan calendar: Carnival, the fair and the national days
A handful of dates fill the hotels of Luanda, and some follow the church calendar, so the date is checked for the year of travel:
What a holiday does to a flight plan
A landing permit asked for on the day before a holiday is the hardest to get, so a booking made three or four weeks before FILDA or Independence Day is simpler than one made in the last week.

Flying to Angola with a dog or a cat
The cabin is not the problem. The paperwork is. Angola asks for an import permit before the animal travels, and Britain does not appear to treat Angola as a listed country, so an animal coming home needs a rabies blood test planned months before the flight.
The one fact to read before you book
Pet travel guidance says an import permit issued by the veterinary authorities of Angola is required, with a health certificate from a licensed vet endorsed by the British animal health authority 14 to 21 days before travel, and a rabies vaccination given roughly four to eleven months before entry. It describes live animals arriving through Luanda as cargo; how that applies to a cabin on a private jet is not stated, so we confirm each figure in writing.
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination, as the return to Britain requires;
- The Angolan import permit and the British export health certificate, completed by an Official Veterinarian, with the vaccination record attached;
- For the return, a rabies blood test, because Angola is not on the simple-route list as we understand it, and a Great Britain pet health certificate; GOV.UK counts three months from the date of the blood sample before an animal from a non-listed country may travel to Britain;
- For dogs only, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. A cat needs no treatment.
GOV.UK does not say how the approved-route rule applies to a private aircraft, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork in writing before the flight. An animal that does not meet the rules can be placed in quarantine for up to four months at the owner's expense. Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. The sector to Angola is so long that many trips are one-way by nature: a team flies out for a contract meeting, stays several days and the aircraft comes home or moves on.
Where Angolan empty legs come from
– Aircraft that take a company party to Luanda and fly back to Britain without passengers, which is the leg most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioning to Luanda before a trade fair;
– Regional legs between Luanda, Windhoek and Johannesburg, when a client stays in one city and the aircraft goes on.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. Typical Angolan empty legs:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windhoek - Luanda | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £6,200 |
| Luanda - Johannesburg | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £11,450 |
| Luanda - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,350 |
| Luanda - UK (Farnborough) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,400 |
| UK (London Luton) - Luanda | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,600 |
| UK (Birmingham) - Luanda | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £25,900 |
| UK (Manchester) - Luanda | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £26,300 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Luanda | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £27,350 |
How to read those figures
Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Praetor 600 from London Luton to Luanda at £25,600 with eight aboard comes to about £3,200 a head. A leg that points towards Britain is easier to find after a trade fair or a holiday, when the delegations go home.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter in Angola is a tool for the edges of a trip, arranged case by case. We do not publish a standing helicopter service for the country, because the machine, the crew and the permission for each landing site come from local operators and the Angolan authorities and are confirmed for the date. The most useful job is the road between the new Luanda airport and the city. The times below are straight-line planning estimates:
in place of a drive of some 40 kmabout 20 min
to the oil coast, a long sector for a helicopterabout 1 h 50 min
to the Benguela coast, in place of a long driveabout 2 h
to Cabinda city, the longest of the sectorsabout 2 h 10 min
Typical machines are the Airbus H125 and H135 and the Bell 429. We book a helicopter alongside the jet, so the whole itinerary is quoted as one.
Before you plan around a helicopter
The Angolan authorities control where a helicopter may operate, and the British advice excludes parts of the country, so we confirm the permission for every landing site and every overflown area before we quote. A hotel lawn or a beach is not a site until it has been approved.

Angolan charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
LUANDA · A CONTRACT MEETING
Four executives and a signing in the capital
Farnborough - Luanda, Praetor 600, about 9 h 05 min · 4 pax
The business visas were in the passports two weeks ahead, the permit request went in well over 72 working hours before departure, and the agent named the field and the terminal in writing.
LUANDA · A SHORT STAY
Two lenders and a one-night visit
London Luton - Luanda, Praetor 600, about 9 h 05 min · 2 pax
They arrived in the evening and flew home after a morning of meetings. The bags stayed light, because a full cabin and the fuel for the long sector home would have cost payload.
BENGUELA COAST · A SITE VISIT
A project team on the coast
Biggin Hill - Catumbela, Global 6000, about 8 h 45 min · 6 pax
The distance was beyond a Praetor, so the team took a Global 6000 straight to the coast. Fuel and handling at Catumbela were confirmed in writing before the quote was accepted.
SOYO · THE OIL COAST
A Luanda arrival and a turboprop north
Luanda - Soyo, Pilatus PC-12 NGX, about 1 h 15 min · 5 pax
The jet from Britain landed at Luanda and the party continued on a turboprop the next morning. The permit named both airports.
WITH THE DOG · THE LONG LEAD TIME
Two adults and a spaniel on a posting
Biggin Hill - Luanda, Praetor 600, about 9 h · 2 pax + dog
The Angolan import permit came first, then the export certificate, and the rabies blood test for the way home was taken early. The tapeworm treatment was booked with a vet in Luanda for the end of the stay.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Angola
1How long does it take to fly to Angola by private jet?
About 9 hours nonstop from London Biggin Hill to Luanda on a Praetor 600, and 9 hours 45 minutes from Edinburgh. A smaller aircraft needs a technical stop that adds about an hour and a half. Angola is on the same time as Britain in summer and one hour ahead in winter.
2How much does a private jet to Angola cost?
From about £60,400 one way from Biggin Hill to Luanda on a Praetor 600. Edinburgh costs about £4,700 more on the same aircraft. Catumbela is £110,300 on a Global 6000, and short domestic hops from Luanda start from £3,100 on a turboprop.
3Which airport should a private jet use in Luanda?
Luanda has two airfields: the Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport (NBJ / FNBJ), about 40 km from the city, which carries the airline traffic, and the old Quatro de Fevereiro airport (LAD / FNLU), where the executive terminals have stood. We confirm in writing which field, terminal and handler take your aircraft.
4Do British passengers need a visa and a permit for a private flight to Angola?
For tourism a British passport holder needs no visa for up to 30 days. For business, work or study a visa must be obtained in advance. The passport must be valid for six months after arrival. The aircraft needs a landing permit through a local agent, and handler guidance quotes 48 to 72 working hours of lead time.
5Can I fly a private jet to Cabinda?
Cabinda city has an airport with a runway of 2,500 metres, but the British government advises against all but essential travel to the rest of Cabinda province because of attacks on foreigners and the risk of kidnapping. We do not plan flights into the warned areas.
6Can I take my dog or cat to Angola on a private jet?
Yes, in the cabin, but start early. It needs an Angolan import permit and a UK export health certificate. For the return Angola is not on the simple-route list as we understand it, so it needs a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a rabies blood test, a Great Britain pet health certificate and, for dogs, a tapeworm treatment between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. We confirm each step in writing.
