Private jet charter in Maastricht
An hour out of Biggin Hill or London City puts you on a Dutch runway that is closer to Liège and Aachen than it is to Amsterdam, and that is the first thing to grasp about Maastricht. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST / EHBK) lies at Beek, about 9 km north-east of the old town and some 28 km from Aachen. It has a single runway declared at 2,500 m, a business aviation handler in ASL Group, customs listed round the clock, immigration during the airport's opening hours and, for ordinary private traffic, typically no slot to request. The decisions that remain are the hour you land, the week you choose, because TEFAF in March and the summer festivals fill the stands, and whether the trip is really to Maastricht or to Aachen, Liège or Cologne, with Liège and Cologne having runways to match.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Maastricht depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Maastricht?
A little under an hour from the London fields in a light jet, just over an hour from Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester, and about an hour and a half from Glasgow, with one hour of clock difference to add on arrival because the Netherlands keeps Central European time. At 226 to 489 nautical miles this is a short corridor, and the figures below include taxi, climb and approach, which make up a large part of the flight. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at eight in the morning and you touch down at Beek a little before ten local time, since the Netherlands is an hour ahead of Britain. The airport is about 9 km from the centre of Maastricht, and a car from the business aviation terminal typically reaches the old town in 15 minutes. Aachen is 35 to 40 minutes to the east and Liège 30 to 35 minutes to the south-west, so a client with meetings on two sides of a border does not need a second flight. Count the drive to the British airfield and the processing at each end, and the journey from central London to the Vrijthof comes to a little under three hours. The one limit on the day is the airport's own: it keeps hours, and the last departure has to be planned before about eleven at night.
Light jet or midsize: the handler and the apron decide, not the runway
– Up to five or six people with ordinary bags, take the light jet. Under an hour in the air is no test of a small cabin, and on a sector this short every light jet is priced near the operator's minimum, so the saving over a midsize is the biggest line on the quote. A Citation CJ3+ or a Phenom 300E needs a fraction of the 2,500 m the airport declares;
– With a bigger party, a week of luggage or a second stop in Switzerland on the same booking, a midsize or super-midsize jet such as the Citation XLS+ or the Challenger 350 is the next step. The aerodrome publication gives business and general aviation handling to ASL Group for aircraft of up to 19 seats, which covers every cabin in this class, and the taxiways W3 and W4 are limited to a 36 m wingspan unless the tower instructs otherwise, which covers every business jet in this class;
– Large-cabin and long-range jets can use the field, and the sensible limit is fuel and distance and not the aircraft. Fire cover is category 7 for passenger flights, with category 8 or 9 on an emailed request at least 48 hours ahead, so a heavy jet needs a line in the plan. For a fully loaded departure to the Gulf or New York, Liège is the better runway, and the table of flights from Maastricht further down says how we price it.

Prices for the private jet flights to Maastricht
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Maastricht Aachen Airport on light and midsize jets. On a sector this short several rows show the same figure, because the price sits close to a minimum charge and not on the mileage. TEFAF week in March and the July concerts on the Vrijthof sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Private jet flights from Maastricht
Maastricht is a small field with a large neighbourhood. Paris is under an hour in a light jet, Zurich just under, Geneva and Munich about an hour, Innsbruck a little over, Nice an hour and a half and the Balearics about two hours. A declared runway of 2,500 m suits light, midsize and most super-midsize jets on these sectors, so the first seven rows are priced from Maastricht itself. The two long-haul rows are priced from Liège, 38 km away, where a loaded Global has 3,690 m under it. Typical one-way prices:

Why the long legs start at Liège
The paved runway at Beek is 2,750 m long, but the aerodrome declares 2,500 m for take-off and landing, and the full length needs a new airport decree before it can be declared. That is ample for a light or midsize jet and for large-cabin jets on medium sectors. A Global 6000 loaded for the 2,850 nautical miles to Dubai or the 3,348 to Teterboro is a different case: it wants the longest runway within reach, and Liège, with 3,690 m, a category III approach and round-the-clock operation, is a short drive or a quarter-hour helicopter hop away. The aircraft leaves from Liège, and the party is brought across by car or by helicopter. If an operator proposes a long-range departure from Maastricht itself, ask for the performance calculation first.
Before you accept an onward quote from Maastricht
– The hour. The aerodrome opens at about six in the morning and closes at about eleven at night, local time, and flights between 23:00 and 06:00 need prior permission from the airport authority. A quote should state the departure time against that window, because a dinner that ran late can turn a departure into a request;
– The handler. A quote should name ASL Group as the business aviation handler and say what time its desk is staffed. One directory lists the desk from 07:00 to 22:00 on weekdays, so for a weekend or an early start we ask for the staffing in writing;
– Noise rules on the apron. Continuous descent approaches, minimal reverse thrust and tightly controlled use of the auxiliary power unit are the published expectations, and running the engines for cabin air-conditioning on the apron is not allowed. A crew that knows this arrives with the right plan;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Maastricht to Zurich, then Munich, then back costs less arranged as a single trip than as three, because the aircraft and crew stay with you and do not return to base between legs.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Maastricht:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
Under an hour from London is the natural class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. At Maastricht the light jet parks on the general aviation apron under the ASL handler, and nothing in this group lacks the range or the runway for the sector, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for a bigger party or a northern departure
A larger cabin earns its place for six or more people, for a departure from Scotland, or when the same aircraft carries on to Switzerland or the Riviera. Every cabin in this group sits inside the handler's 19-seat limit, and the declared runway never limits it.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, a team that works in the air, and trips that carry on to the Gulf or New York. These cabins can use Maastricht on medium sectors, and for a heavy long-range departure we plan the first leg from Liège, 3,690 m of runway and a short transfer away.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Benelux and Rhineland hops of about 150 nautical miles or less, to Brussels, Liège or Amsterdam. A jet on that distance is billed near its minimum anyway, so a Pilatus PC-12 is the sensible choice for a party of fewer than nine.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: Maastricht to Liège, Cologne or Brussels, and any private site that holds permission to receive a helicopter. In the Netherlands the landing site is agreed before the quote, not after.

This is a small part of what is available. Maastricht sits between Liège, Brussels, Cologne and Düsseldorf, and every one of them has a business aviation fleet within an hour of the field, so there is usually a jet close enough to reach Beek without a long positioning flight. Outside TEFAF week that is where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Maastricht
One airport does most of the work, and three others turn up in quotes or in conversation. Each of them behaves differently, and it helps to know how before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Maastricht Aachen Airport MST / EHBK |
The answer for almost every trip. At Beek, 5 NM north-east of Maastricht and some 28 km from Aachen, with one asphalt runway, 03/21, paved at 2,750 by 45 m and declared at 2,500 m, with a category III approach on runway 21 and category I on runway 03. Customs is listed round the clock, while immigration, fuel and air traffic services follow the aerodrome hours of about 06:00 to 23:00 local time, and de-icing is available on request. Handling is compulsory for aircraft not based here, and business and general aviation of up to 19 seats is handled by ASL Group. The airport is also the second-largest cargo hub in the Netherlands, so freighters share the runway |
| Liège Airport LGG / EBLG |
A Belgian airport some 38 km south-west of Maastricht Aachen in a straight line and 30 to 35 minutes by road. Two runways, the longer 3,690 by 45 m with a category III approach at both ends, aerodrome, customs, immigration, handling and de-icing all listed as round-the-clock services, and no slot coordination. ASL Group runs the business aviation terminal there as well. It is our choice for a heavy long-range departure and for a late-night return that Maastricht's hours would not allow |
| Cologne Bonn Airport CGN / EDDK |
A German airport some 96 km east of Maastricht Aachen in a straight line, one of the country's few 24-hour airports, with runways of 3,815, 2,459 and 1,863 m. The Business Aviation Centre Cologne, a member of the Air Elite network, has its own terminal with VIP and crew lounges. It lands you on German formalities and an hour or more from Maastricht by road, so it fits a trip that is really to Cologne, Bonn or the Rhineland, or a night arrival that Beek would not take |
| Eindhoven Airport EIN / EHEH |
A shared military and civil field some 66 km north-west of Maastricht Aachen in a straight line, with a 3,000 m runway. The airport no longer accepts business or general aviation, so it is not an option for a Maastricht trip, and for Eindhoven itself a private jet now lands at Maastricht Aachen or at Weeze, just over the German border. If an operator still lists it, ask for the actual field |
Four points settle most Maastricht arrivals:
Choose the handler
At Maastricht Aachen the handler is ASL Group, which the aerodrome publication names for business and general aviation of up to 19 seats. Handling is compulsory for aircraft not based at the field, and the request is made before the flight. The general aviation terminal has its own access apart from the airline terminal, with customs and immigration on site, and directories list a VIP lounge, a crew room and a meeting area. We confirm what is open on your date.
Hours, slots and noise
The aerodrome runs from about 06:00 to 23:00 local time, flights between 23:00 and 06:00 need the airport authority's permission, and visual approaches are generally not allowed in those hours. The airport is not listed as slot-coordinated, and one directory says most private traffic needs no slot, so the handler asks for a stand and not for a time. Fire cover is category 7 for passenger flights.
Border and passport
The Netherlands is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the airport. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years ago and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints. Temporary checks have been applied at times on the Dutch, Belgian and German borders, so passports stay in the pocket.
Car and late nights
There is no railway at the airport, and the nearest intercity stations are in Maastricht and Aachen, so the car is part of the plan. Give us the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only the airport name may wait at the wrong door. Car hire desks exist, but a pre-booked transfer is the normal choice, and for a late dinner in the old town we set the departure time before you order.

Border, passport and the way home
Because the Netherlands is inside Schengen, the first landing from Britain is where the formalities happen. At Beek customs is listed as an all-hours service, but immigration follows the aerodrome's opening hours, so an arrival from London has to fall inside the day or be agreed with the airport authority beforehand. The drive on to Aachen or Liège crosses no routine passport control, though neighbouring countries have introduced temporary checks at times, and the passports stay in the pocket and not in the luggage. The way home runs the other way. Britain expects a General Aviation Report filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and visitors who are not British or Irish citizens and need no visa for Britain generally need an electronic travel authorisation. We arrange the filing with the handler and keep the timings visible, so the aircraft is not held on the apron.

From the apron to the Vrijthof
Maastricht is the capital of Limburg and its largest city, with about 120,000 residents on both banks of the Meuse, where the Jeker joins the river. The airport lies on the plateau to the north-east, and the distances that matter are the short one into the old town and the longer ones across three borders.

Flying to Maastricht with a dog or a cat
The Netherlands asks for the standard EU paperwork, and a flight of under an hour suits most animals: the dog or cat sits in the cabin beside you, never in a hold. What matters is the date on the certificate, which is good for entry to the EU for only ten days.

What the Dutch and British rules ask for:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 full days elapsed after the first dose before travel, so the youngest animal the Netherlands accepts is 15 weeks old;
- An Animal Health Certificate issued in Britain by an official vet within ten days before departure, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and valid for the return as stated on the certificate, and a new one for each trip. A pet passport issued in Britain cannot be used, and no blood test is asked for;
- A declaration to customs at the airport immediately after landing. Customs at Maastricht Aachen is on the airport's all-hours list, and we confirm with the handler that the animal can be presented there on the day;
- No more than five animals per traveller. A larger group, or an animal bought in Britain and travelling without its buyer, must be inspected at Schiphol and cannot enter at Beek;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before the return flight to Britain, recorded with the product, the date and the time. Cats are exempt, and the Netherlands asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in.
What catches owners out on the Maastricht run
– The tapeworm window is for the way home, and it is five days wide. On a weekend the treatment can be given in Britain just before you leave, while on a longer stay it is a vet appointment in Limburg. Count back from the landing time in Britain and not from the date;
– A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU from England, Scotland or Wales, so the certificate must be a fresh one for each trip, and the rabies cover has to stay valid for the whole stay;
– A weekend among the Christmas lights or an afternoon in the hills of South Limburg with a dog is an ordinary booking. Settle the hotel, the car and any onward helicopter before the quote, because each one has to accept the animal separately.
Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight back we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Maastricht calendar: an art fair, a carnival and a square full of music
Maastricht has a working week and a handful of dates that matter. The pressure points are the carnival in February or March, the art fair in March, the Amstel Gold Race in April, the horse show in Aachen in early summer, the open-air concerts of July, the food festival in late August and the Christmas markets and the winter village in December. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why TEFAF week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large, and Maastricht sits within an hour of several of its bases. What gets tight is the apron at the one business aviation handler, the cars with drivers and the rooms in a city of 120,000, all in the same days, and the airport's hours leave less room than a 24-hour field would to catch up if a flight is late. A booking made ten days before the preview can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Liège or Düsseldorf. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Maastricht is an easy airport to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Maastricht price down
- Keep the aircraft small. A light jet is the cheapest honest quote on this sector, and the saving over a midsize cabin pays for the car and the hotel;
- Choose the day. Fixed weekday meetings cost less than the Friday and Sunday traffic of festival weekends, and a departure at midday is easier to staff than one at the edge of the airport's hours;
- Plan the return inside the airport's day. A late-evening departure from Beek has to leave before about eleven, and a crew that has to wait for a late dinner is a cost, so we fix the return time with you before the quote;
- Move the dates off TEFAF week if you can, and book the return as part of the same trip and not as a separate charter.
Types of flights
Maastricht produces a different mix from a holiday destination, because it is a border city with a university, a convention centre, an art fair and two larger neighbours on its doorstep.
- TEFAF visitors: dealers, collectors and museum parties, usually small groups on a fixed schedule with the previews as the anchor;
- Concerts and festival weekends on the Vrijthof, from the July evenings to the food festival in August;
- Industry and research visits in South Limburg and Aachen, where one of Germany's leading technical universities sits;
- Equestrian and cycling guests who land at Beek for Aachen's horse show or the Amstel Gold Race;
- Cross-border business that lands at Maastricht because Brussels or Düsseldorf is slot-bound, busy or further from the meeting;
- South Limburg weekends: the vineyards and the caves of the hills around the city, Valkenburg being the region's main tourist centre, and the Christmas markets in December.
Maastricht is a natural day trip from London. Wheels up at half past seven, on the ground a little before half past nine local time, and away again in the evening gives you a full working day in Limburg and your own bed that night. The only fixed edge is the airport's: the aircraft has to be airborne from Beek before the aerodrome closes at about eleven, which leaves plenty of room for a long dinner and none for an overnight whim. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote the day trip both ways so that the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Maastricht has an advantage here: the festival weekends and the art fair send aircraft in full and out empty in a pattern that repeats every year.
Where Maastricht empty legs come from
– After TEFAF. Aircraft that brought dealers and collectors to the preview days go home empty after the final Sunday, and those legs appear in the days that follow;
– Festival and concert weekends. Aircraft bring parties to the Vrijthof and to Aachen's horse show and go home empty on the Monday, often to London or to Belgian and German bases;
– Positioning hops. Aircraft that bring a party to Liège, Cologne or Düsseldorf often move empty to Beek for the next job, and the short legs between these fields can be the cheapest of all.
Because the corridor is short and thin, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Maastricht match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In the Maastricht area a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The old town is small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the hop to Liège or Cologne, the Brussels and Rhineland airfields, and a private estate that already has permission to receive one.
21 nm, the long runway next door, against 30 to 35 minutes by roadtypically 15 minutes
54 nm, against an hour or more by roadtypically 30 minutes
46 nm, for a meeting on the Rhinetypically 30 minutes
51 nm, against 75 to 90 minutes by roadtypically 30 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter in the Netherlands cannot land wherever it likes. Taking off or landing away from an airport needs a temporary and exceptional use exemption, which in Limburg is granted by the province, whose stated decision time is up to eight weeks. The site cannot lie in or within 100 m of protected nature areas, a motorised aircraft may not use such a site between 23:00 and 07:00, and one site is limited to 12 days of use in a year. A hotel garden or an estate therefore needs its status confirmed before we quote, and for a one-off trip the helicopter lands at an airfield;
– Crossing a border changes the rules: a landing in Belgium or Germany follows that country's own permission system, and we check it with the operator before the price is final;
– Weather sets the schedule. Low cloud and fog can hold a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a time-critical transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for short transfers, the wider H130 for estate and hotel landings, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Maastricht charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning in Limburg and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Maastricht and return, Citation CJ3+, about 55 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at half past seven, on the ground a little before half past nine local time, in the meeting by eleven and back at Biggin Hill in the evening. The aircraft and crew waited at Beek rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. The return was set to leave well before the aerodrome closes at about eleven at night.
ART FAIR · THE PREVIEW DAYS
Two collectors and an adviser for the opening day
Farnborough - Maastricht, Phenom 300E, about 55 min · 3 pax
TEFAF opens with two days of invitation-only previews, and the party wanted to be at the MECC when the doors opened. We booked the stand with the handler weeks ahead, because the apron fills during the fair, and put the car for the old town and the return on the final evening in the same message. The cabin was sized for three people and a few light cases and nothing more.
EQUESTRIAN · AACHEN IN SUMMER
Eight guests for a day at the Soers
London Luton - Maastricht, Citation XLS+, about 55 min · 8 pax
The show is in Aachen, and the nearest airport we use with customs on site is Maastricht, 35 to 40 minutes away by car. We booked the cars to meet the aircraft at the handler's door and arranged the return for the end of the evening, allowing for the aerodrome's closing time at about eleven at night.
LONG-HAUL · A LARGE CABIN FROM LIÈGE
A Gulf trip planned around the longer runway
Liège - Dubai, Global 6000, about 6 h 10 min · 9 pax
A delegation based on the Dutch side of the border wanted a large-cabin jet for Dubai. The aircraft left from Liège, with its 3,690 m runway and round-the-clock operation, and the party was driven across the border in about half an hour. Handler, stand and catering were settled before the quote went out, and the performance figures for a full fuel load were checked with the operator.
A DOG ON BOARD · A WINTER WEEKEND
Four adults and a spaniel for the Christmas lights
Southampton - Maastricht, Phenom 300E, about 1 h · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the dog was presented to customs at the airport on landing. The vet appointment for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, confirmed with the handler that the animal could be presented at Beek, and the hotel in the old town took the dog.
EMPTY LEG · MONDAY AFTER THE FAIR
A jet already going your way
Maastricht - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 55 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party to the art fair and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Monday morning departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Maastricht
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Maastricht?
About 55 minutes from Biggin Hill, London City, Luton or Farnborough in a light jet, covering roughly 226 to 258 nautical miles from the London fields. From Birmingham allow about 1 h 05 min in a midsize cabin, from Manchester about 1 h 10 min, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 1 h 25 min to 1 h 30 min. The Netherlands is one hour ahead of Britain, so an eight o'clock departure lands shortly before ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Maastricht cost?
From about £5,300 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £5,700 from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom. A midsize cabin from Birmingham starts at £6,800 and from Manchester at £7,150, and from Scotland allow £8,850 to £9,200. Several routes show the same price because short sectors are billed at a minimum charge. TEFAF week and the July concerts price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Maastricht?
Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST / EHBK) for most trips. It is about 9 km from the old town and some 28 km from Aachen, it has customs listed round the clock and immigration during its opening hours of about 06:00 to 23:00, and business jets are handled by ASL Group. Liège (LGG / EBLG) is about 38 km away and open round the clock, Cologne Bonn (CGN / EDDK) is some 96 km away and also open all night, and Eindhoven no longer accepts business aircraft.
4Can a large jet land at Maastricht, and does the airport close at night?
Large-cabin jets can use the field on medium sectors, since the runway is declared at 2,500 m, but a heavy long-range departure is better planned from Liège, which has 3,690 m. The aerodrome is open from about 06:00 to 23:00 local time, flights between 23:00 and 06:00 need prior permission from the airport authority, and immigration follows the opening hours. For a late return we agree the departure time in advance or use Liège or Cologne Bonn, which stay open all night.
5When is TEFAF in Maastricht, and when should I book the flight?
TEFAF Maastricht is held at the MECC in March, with two days of invitation-only previews followed by about nine days of public opening. It is the week when private traffic into Maastricht rises most, so allow five to six weeks, because stands, cars and rooms fill in the same days. Outside TEFAF week and the July concerts, a day or two is usually enough.
6Can I take my dog to Maastricht on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and the Netherlands asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry to the EU. Customs check the animal on arrival, and we confirm with the handler that this can be done at Maastricht on the day. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
