Private jet charter in Zadar
Two and a quarter hours out of a London airfield, a light jet arrives at the only Croatian airport with two runways, and the thing that decides the trip is who else is using them. Private Jets UK builds the charter around that. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Zadar Airport lies about 7 km from the old town, has a 2,500 m main runway and a separate VIP terminal for business aviation, but it is also the main training base of the Croatian Air Force and a Ryanair hub, so the stands are contested in a way the length of the runway does not suggest.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Zadar depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Zadar?
About two hours and a quarter from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, much the same from Luton, Farnborough or Southampton, and two hours forty to forty-five from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Croatia keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain, so the clock on the wall eats into the afternoon on the way out and gives it back on the way home. At 783 to 1075 nautical miles from the British fields we use, Zadar is a long light-jet sector from the south of England and a job for a bigger cabin from Scotland. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and the wheels touch down at Zemunik a little after ten, local time. The terminal is about 7 km from the old town, and a car from the apron to the Riva typically takes 15 to 20 minutes outside the busiest summer hours, so someone who left home at six can be sitting down to lunch on the waterfront by one. A scheduled journey with a connection rarely manages that, and it does not put your luggage at the door of a hotel on the peninsula.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Four people with ordinary bags are well served by a light jet, and the difference in price goes into the boat for the Kornati day. Two hours and a quarter in a CJ3+ or a Phenom is comfortable, though it is the upper end of what we advise for a light cabin;
– With six people, golf bags, climbing gear for Paklenica, dive kit or a week of formal and beach clothes, we quote a midsize jet beside the light one so that both figures are on the table. On this coast the hold is usually fuller than the seats;
– A large jet makes sense for a big party, for a trip that carries on from Zadar to the Gulf, or when one aircraft stays with you across several European stops. The runway is not the issue, because 2,500 m is ample, but the apron is: the general aviation apron carries a low published strength rating, so the weight of a heavy jet is checked with the airport before the quote is written.

Private jet flights from Zadar
Zadar sits in the middle of the Croatian coast, so most flights out of it are short and the interesting ones go sideways rather than outwards. Split, Brač and Dubrovnik are turboprop hops of an hour or less, Pula and Zagreb are quick light-jet sectors, Venice, Vienna and Munich are the usual business neighbours, and Paris and the Gulf make up the long end. Onward from Zadar: when the aircraft wins and when the road does
Split is only 56 nautical miles from Zadar and a PC-12 does it in about 35 minutes, against 158 km of road that a private transfer covers in about an hour and forty minutes. The aircraft wins when the party lands at Zemunik and wants to be on the Split waterfront for lunch. It earns nothing if the destination is Šibenik or Vodice, which sit about halfway along that road and are better reached by car from Zadar. Brač, at 79 nautical miles, is about 40 minutes and saves a ferry crossing; Dubrovnik, at 164, takes about 55 minutes and spares you the whole length of the coast. Pula, at 80, is about 40 minutes and the sensible way to reach Istria from here, because the drive is long.
Before you accept a Croatian onward quote
– Which airport at the far end, and what it can do for you. Split asks for compulsory handling and fills up in summer, Brač is a light and midsize airfield with hours on request, and Dubrovnik works to a slot system through the peak months;
– Whether the legs are one booking. Zadar to Brač to Split over three days costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base between stops, and the slots at each end can be requested together.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Zadar:
Light jets, the usual choice for four people
At two hours and a quarter this is close to the longest light-jet sector we recommend. Range is not the question; comfort and the hold are, so the money is better spent on the boat and the hotel than on a cabin you will not fill.
Midsize, for climbing gear, golf bags and beach luggage
Zadar parties arrive with equipment: ropes and harnesses for Paklenica, snorkels for the Kornati, soft sailing bags, a week of linen and evening clothes for the old town. A midsize hold takes all of it.
Super-midsize and large
For a team that wants to work in the air, a party travelling as one group, or a trip that continues to the Gulf. The runway is long enough for all of these; the general aviation apron is the point to check first.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops along the coast: Split, Brač, Dubrovnik and Pula are an hour or less in the air, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a bay on the Kornati, the cliffs of Telašćica, a hotel terrace on Pag. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote, never on the day.

This is a small part of what is available. Zadar is not the busiest base for business aircraft, so for a booking in the summer peak the aircraft is often positioned from Zagreb, Venice, Vienna or Munich, and the quote may name one of those cities as the starting point. That is normal for a coastal airport that sees mostly airline traffic, and it is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Zadar
One airport does the work, and three others matter for particular reasons. Which one is right depends on where you are sleeping and on what else is on the programme, not on the aircraft.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Zadar, Zemunik ZAD / LDZD |
The answer for northern Dalmatia, the Kornati, Pag, Biograd and Šibenik. The airport lies at Zemunik Donji, about 7 km east of the old town. The main runway, 13/31, is 2,500 m by 45 m and the second, 04/22, 2,000 m by 45 m, which makes Zadar the only Croatian airport with two. The AIP lists the aerodrome as open about 06:00 to 22:00 local time in summer, with customs, immigration, handling and fuelling following the same hours, and the airport states that it can open for 24 hours on request. The general aviation apron carries a published strength rating of PCN 15, so the weight of a larger jet is checked with the airport |
| Split, Resnik SPU / LDSP |
The alternative when Zadar has no stand, or when the real destination is Hvar, Brač or Trogir. The runway is 2,550 m, customs and fuelling run round the clock, handling is compulsory and summer parking is tight. By road Split is 158 km from Zadar, about an hour and forty minutes by private transfer, so it solves a parking problem at the cost of a long drive |
| Pula PUY / LDPL |
The airport for Istria, not for Zadar. A 2,946 m runway, about 6 km from the town, with the aerodrome open about 06:00 to 22:00 local time in summer. It earns a place on this page because many Zadar clients combine the Dalmatian coast with Istria, and a light jet flies the leg in under 40 minutes |
| Zagreb ZAG / LDZA |
The capital's airport, with a 3,252 m runway and a general aviation terminal with its own customs and immigration. It is about 280 km from Zadar by the A1 motorway, two and a half to three hours, so it makes sense when the trip is Zagreb first and the coast second, or when Plitvice is the main purpose |
Šibenik has no runway for a jet. It is reached from Zadar or from Split, each about 80 km away by road, and the choice between them is made by the programme, not the map. Four points settle most Zadar arrivals:
Handling and the terminal
Private arrivals use a VIP terminal south of the main terminal, built for general and business aviation only and run by the airport, with a lounge and a published tariff for crew, passengers and driving a car to the aircraft. Directories also name Euro Jet and Flystar Aviation Support as handling agents. Listings differ, so we ask the operator which handler it wants and confirm it in writing before the quote.
Hours, slots and parking
Summer hours run about 06:00 to 22:00 local time. Outside them a request goes to the airport operator, who has to approve it, and fire cover of category 6 and above is requested 24 hours ahead. Scheduled flights follow the airline slot calendar, and in June to September the apron is short of space for business aircraft, so a jet may be sent to another airport for the stay and called back for the return.
Border and passport
Croatia is in the EU and the Schengen area and Britain is in neither, and Zadar is on the list of airports where a flight from outside Schengen may land first. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months after departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints at the EU entry system, and the hotel registers your stay with the police within 48 hours.
The airfield and the wind
Zemunik is shared with the main training base of the Croatian Air Force, and the AIP warns that military activity can change a flight plan. Strong north-easterly wind, the bura, can bring gusts and wind shear on the approach and the climb-out, and gulls are noted on and near the runway. A late departure is planned with the driver, the boat and the handler in the same message.

Permits, the border and the way home
Croatian rules treat a private flight and a charter differently, and the difference matters for the paperwork. The AIP states that non-commercial flights by aircraft registered in an ICAO member state need no entry or transit permission, while a charter operated for hire by a foreign operator needs the approval of the Croatian Civil Aviation Agency, which the operator applies for a few working days ahead. We tell you which side of the line your booking falls on in the first message, because it sets the lead time.
For the flight home, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and any passenger who needs an Electronic Travel Authorisation for the UK must hold it before boarding. British and Irish citizens are exempt from it. Goods follow the usual EU and UK allowances, and Zadar Airport has a customs office inside the terminal building with a green channel for passengers who have nothing to declare. We confirm in writing where a private arrival clears passport control and customs, because the VIP terminal and the main terminal are different buildings.

From the apron to the Sea Organ
Zadar is a small city, about 71,000 people, on a promontory that was once cut off from the mainland by a moat, and everything of interest to a visitor stands within a short walk of the Riva. The Roman forum is the largest on the eastern Adriatic, the round church of St Donatus is the most important surviving building of the 9th century in Dalmatia, and the Land Gate, designed by the Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli in the 16th century, still carries the Lion of St Mark. The fortifications are part of the UNESCO listing for the Venetian Works of Defence.
At the western tip of the peninsula the city has two pieces of public art that clients ask for by name. The Sea Organ, by the architect Nikola Bašić, is a flight of white marble steps with tubes and a resonating cavity underneath, through which the waves push air and make a low, irregular, harmonic sound. Beside it lies the Greeting to the Sun, a circle 22 m across made of 300 layered glass plates, charged by photovoltaic modules, which lights up after dark and supplies about half of the energy used by the waterfront. Sunset on the steps is the standard evening, and the walk from the old town takes a few minutes.

Flying to Zadar with a dog or a cat
Croatia asks for more paperwork than the flight takes time, and the paperwork is the part that goes wrong. The animal sits beside you in the cabin, not in a hold. The date on the health certificate is the detail to watch, because the certificate is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

What Croatia asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, implanted before the rabies vaccination or on the same day;
- A rabies vaccination given at 12 weeks of age or later, with 21 days passed before the animal travels;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry;
- A written declaration that the animal is not being moved for sale, and no more than five animals per traveller, brought in through a designated point of entry; the airports are among the points Croatia lists;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats do not need it.
What catches owners out on the Zadar run
– Croatia asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in, but Britain asks for it on the way home. That is a vet visit in Zadar or Biograd in the last days of the trip, and a departure that slips by a day can push the 24 to 120 hour window out of reach;
– The breed matters. Croatia does not allow pit bull type terriers that are not registered with the FCI, nor their crossbreeds, and some other breeds must be leashed and muzzled in public places. We ask for the breed on the booking form, not at the terminal;
– A week on the coast with a dog is an ordinary booking, but a hotel, a boat and a helicopter each have to accept the animal separately, and the national parks set their own rules on dogs. Settle all of them before the quote, because boat owners and helicopter operators decide for themselves.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Zadar calendar: a quiet coast with a loud summer
Zadar Airport is the fourth busiest in Croatia and carries about 1.6 million passengers in a year, most of them in the warm months, when airlines from all over Europe add seasonal routes and the stands fill. In midwinter the same apron is far quieter. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a July weekend costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Zadar is within reach of all of it. What gets tight is the business aviation stand at Zemunik, the slot at either end, the berth at the marina and the car, all on the same days. A booking made two weeks before the Zrće weekend or the August peak can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from Zagreb, Venice or Vienna, and that costs more. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside June to September, Zadar is one of the easier coastal airports to fly into.
Ways to bring the Zadar price down
- Move the dates out of July and August where you can. The same coast in the second half of September is warm, quiet and cheaper to reach;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Zagreb, Venice or Vienna needs less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Compare the airports. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, Pula is priced about £950 lower than Zadar, Zagreb about £400 lower and Split about £650 higher. The saving at Pula or Zagreb is real, but you then have a long drive or a second flight, so let the place you are sleeping decide.
Types of flights
Zadar produces a different mix from a business city, because it is a gateway to a coast and a lot of what flies in is leisure with a firm date attached.
- Yacht handovers at Biograd, Vodice or Zadar itself, usually soft bags, a case of provisions and a charter company that will not wait for a late aircraft;
- Days on the water, from the Kornati and Telašćica to the islands off Zadar, with a boat or a helicopter doing the last stretch;
- Pag weekends, from the cheese and the salt works to Zrće beach in July and August, flown into Zadar and driven over the bridge;
- Walking and climbing in Paklenica, where small groups arrive with ropes and harnesses and want the shortest way from the apron to the canyon;
- Excursions to Krka, Plitvice and Šibenik, often a day from a hotel in Zadar and sometimes combined with a night in the old town;
- Hops along the coast to Split, Dubrovnik and Pula, usually tied in with a stop in Zadar.
The day trip is the one to look at closely. Land at a quarter past ten, leave at half past four in the afternoon local time, and you are back in the London area at about a quarter to six UK time, with six hours on the ground in between. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Zadar route they follow the rhythm of the season, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Zadar empty legs come from
– Summer weekends. Aircraft that bring a party to the coast on the Friday often leave empty on the Sunday, and the evening leg to the London area is the one most often offered;
– The start and the end of the season. In spring and autumn operators move aircraft between Britain and the Adriatic, and a one-way repositioning flight can appear on either side of a charter week;
– Event weeks and boat handovers. A group arrives on several aircraft and the aircraft leave empty a day or two later, which produces outbound legs to Zagreb, Venice, Vienna and further north.
Because the Zadar corridor is thinner in autumn and winter than in the peak, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Zadar match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
On this coast a helicopter and a boat compete for the same job, which is the last stretch from the airport to somewhere with no runway. The Kornati have no settlements and no airstrip, Telašćica is a bay at the end of an island, and the national parks are an hour or more away by road. Places where rotary flight changes the day are the islands, the hotel terraces and the trips into Krka and the hinterland.

Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, and the protected areas, including the Kornati, Telašćica, Krka, Paklenica and Plitvice, have their own rules, so we check the site before the quote is written, not after it;
– Weather sets the schedule. The bura and the summer afternoon wind can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so an island transfer needs a boat or road alternative planned into the same day;
– The sea is the other answer. A speedboat from the Zadar Riva reaches the nearer islands in well under an hour, and the ferries run to published timetables, so we price the helicopter against the boat and let you choose.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for coastal and island work, the wider H130 for villa and harbour transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Zadar charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
YACHT HANDOVER · SOFT BAGS AND A FIXED DATE
Eight people to join a boat at Biograd
Southampton - Zadar, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 8 pax
The charter company set the handover time, not the client. Eight people, sailing bags, a case of provisions and a request for a driver to take the party straight from the VIP terminal to the marina, about 21 km away. The booking went in six weeks ahead, the stand was requested with the quote, and the crew flew home with the aircraft rather than waiting.
A DAY ON THE WATER · THE KORNATI
Four friends and a skipper from Zadar
Biggin Hill - Zadar, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 15 min · 4 pax
They landed a little after ten, were on the boat by noon and had the Kornati and Telašćica to themselves for the afternoon. Light jet, light bags, a car waiting at the VIP terminal and a return flight booked for the following evening, so nothing about the trip was rushed apart from the boat.
CLIMBING WEEK · PAKLENICA
A party of six with ropes and harnesses
Bristol - Zadar, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 25 min · 6 pax
Climbing kit takes more room than people, which is why a midsize hold was quoted next to a light jet. The drive to Starigrad is about 45 minutes, so the first afternoon on the rock was possible. A rental car was waiting at the terminal and the hotel confirmed early check-in.
A FESTIVAL WEEKEND · THE APRON SET THE TERMS
Six friends for a July weekend on Pag
Farnborough - Zadar, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 10 min · 6 pax
Everyone wanted the same weekend, so the stand request went in with the first message and the aircraft, parked at another airport for the stay, came back to Zadar for the pick-up. Cars and rooms were the other half of the booking, and the client was told about all three at once.
A JUNE WEEK · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel on the Dalmatian coast
Southampton - Zadar, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Zadar for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in one exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Zadar - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 10 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Zadar
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Zadar?
About 2 hours 15 minutes from Biggin Hill and London City in a light jet, and around 2 hours 10 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 783 to 814 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 2 hours 25 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow 2 hours 40 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes. Croatia is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little after ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Zadar cost?
From about £10,850 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, £10,900 from London City, and £11,150 to £11,250 in a Phenom from Farnborough or Luton. A midsize cabin runs £14,000 to £14,850 from the south and the Midlands, and from Scotland allow £21,400 to £21,900. July, August and the festival weekends can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Zadar?
Zadar Airport at Zemunik (ZAD / LDZD), about 7 km from the old town, for almost every trip. It has a 2,500 m main runway and a 2,000 m second runway, a VIP terminal for business aviation, and handling hours of about 06:00 to 22:00 local time in summer, with 24-hour opening on request. Split (SPU / LDSP) is the fall-back when the stands are full and Pula (PUY / LDPL) is the airport for Istria. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, Pula is priced about £950 lower than Zadar and Split about £650 higher.
4Do I need a visa or customs clearance for Zadar?
Britain is outside the EU and Schengen and Croatia is inside both, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival, and Zadar is one of the airports where a flight from outside Schengen may land first. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints, and your hotel registers your stay with the police. The operator and our team handle the aircraft paperwork, including the Croatian approval where it applies.
5Can I fly on from Zadar to the Kornati, Krka, Plitvice or Pag?
The Kornati have no airstrip, so the last stretch is a boat day from Zadar or Biograd, or a helicopter. Krka is about 77 km by road, an hour in a car, and 34 nautical miles, about 25 minutes, by helicopter. Plitvice is about two hours by road and 50 nautical miles, about 35 minutes, by helicopter. Pag is reached over the bridge by car, or about 25 minutes by helicopter to Novalja. Landing sites in protected areas are agreed before the quote is written.
6Can I take my dog to Zadar on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Croatia asks for a microchip implanted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used, and pit bull type terriers not registered with the FCI are not allowed. Croatia asks for no tapeworm treatment on arrival, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
