Private jet charter in Serbia
Three hours in a light jet is all that separates a London office from the Sava and the Danube, and that one sector explains most of what Serbia asks of a private aircraft. The country is landlocked, mountainous in the south and flat as a table in the north, yet nearly every charter ends at the same place: the capital's Nikola Tesla airport, with a handful of secondary fields that matter only when the itinerary reaches the ski slopes of Kopaonik or the monasteries around Kraljevo. Private Jets UK plans each trip around that choice of runway and around the paperwork behind it, because Serbia is outside the EU and outside Schengen and a charter into it needs permission as well as a flight plan. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Serbia that means a landing permit filed on time, the right handling agent on the right ramp, and a car at the aircraft door and not at the passenger terminal.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Serbia depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ to Belgrade and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Serbia?
Serbia keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain, so an early departure from London lands before lunch by the Belgrade clock. These are the sectors from London Biggin Hill on a Citation CJ3+, wheels up to wheels down, to the airfields a private jet really uses and to the two Adriatic fields that Serbian summers lean on:
934 nautical miles, Nikola Tesla airport at Surčin, the gateway for the capital, Novi Sad and almost everything elseabout 2 h 45 min
969 nautical miles, the Montenegrin coast, where many Serbian parties spend July and Augustabout 2 h 50 min
980 nautical miles, Morava airport at Lađevci, the field for Kopaonik from the west and for the monasteries of the Ibar valleyabout 2 h 55 min
1,044 nautical miles, Constantine the Great airport, the southern gateway and the nearest international field to Kopaonikabout 3 h 05 min
What three hours do to a working day
The shortest British run is 934 nautical miles and takes 2 h 45 min. A departure at eight reaches Surčin soon after eleven local time, and with the VIP ramp 18 km from the centre the party can be in a Belgrade meeting by half past twelve. The same morning on a scheduled airline means a connection somewhere in Europe and an afternoon.
From the north the sector lengthens: Manchester is 1,060 nautical miles from Belgrade and Edinburgh 1,162, with Farnborough at 964. A light jet still reaches from every one of them, but beyond about a thousand nautical miles most clients prefer a midsize cabin, because a three-hour flight in four seats is an acquired taste.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Serbia
Typical charter prices from Britain into Serbia, cheapest first. Belgrade sets the entry price, since it is both the nearest Serbian airport to London and the one that handles nearly all business traffic; the single southern row is for a party heading to Niš and Kopaonik from Leeds Bradford:

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Niš is 110 nautical miles further from Biggin Hill than Belgrade, which on a Citation CJ3+ comes to about £1,300 more. For a week at Kopaonik that premium is usually repaid in road time: Niš is roughly two hours from the slopes, Belgrade about four;
– The figures assume the aircraft is based in Britain and flies out and back. When a suitable jet is already in Vienna, Budapest or Istanbul, the positioning leg shortens and the quote can fall well below the table, which is why we look at the whole map before a number is sent.
Private jet flights within Serbia and to its neighbours
Inside Serbia there is little to fly: the road network is decent, the distances are short and the interesting places lie within a few hours of the capital by car. The sectors clients actually ask for run along the Balkan spine to the Adriatic coast and to the capitals around the country, plus the occasional hop to the south. Typical prices, cheapest first:

Two things worth knowing about the onward sectors
– Serbia is outside Schengen, while Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Greece, Bulgaria and Romania are inside it, so a leg to any of them ends in a Schengen arrival and the way back starts with Serbian passport control again. Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Turkey have frontier rules of their own. The handler arranges both ends, and the quote should say who does what;
– The short sectors are a trap. Belgrade to Kraljevo is only about 64 nautical miles, yet a turboprop bills it at its minimum charge, which is the same as the legs to Sarajevo and Podgorica. For most parties a car or a helicopter does the same job and the aeroplane makes sense only when the party and the bags are too big for either.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Serbia:
Turboprops
Not for the flight from London, which at turboprop speed runs close to five hours, but for the hops from Belgrade to Niš, Sarajevo and the Montenegrin coast, where the saving over a jet is large and every runway on the list is long enough.
Light jets
Where most London bookings land, with up to four people and ordinary bags. Close to three hours in a small cabin is long, so the choice inside the class is about headroom and the hold rather than speed.
Midsize
The natural class from Birmingham, Manchester and the north, and for ski parties heading for Kopaonik with boots, poles and a week of luggage. The hold and the standing headroom justify the premium over a light jet.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation, a family office travelling as one group, or a trip that carries on to Istanbul or the Gulf. Belgrade has two long runways, so length is never the constraint; permits and parking are.
Ultra-long range
A range this long is wasted on a three-hour sector, so these are rare on the British run and are quoted when the itinerary goes on to the Gulf or beyond.

For a Serbian booking the aircraft is often not in Britain at all but in Vienna, Budapest, Zagreb or Istanbul, and that is where a better price tends to come from. We look at the whole map before a figure is sent.

Business aviation airports in Serbia
Serbia has one airport that takes the traffic and a few others that earn a quote only when the itinerary points at a particular valley or mountain. Knowing what each one is saves a surprise when a quote arrives with its name on it:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Belgrade Nikola Tesla | BEG / LYBE Surčin, 18 km west of the centre, on the A3 motorway |
The gateway for the capital and, in practice, for the whole country. Two parallel runways of 3,400 and 3,500 metres with an ILS, an aerodrome and tower listed as open round the clock, and customs and immigration on site. General aviation has its own ramp and independent handling agents away from the airline terminal, and the terminal also has a VIP lounge with separate check-in and passport control, reached from the apron |
| Niš Constantine the Great | INI / LYNI 4 km north-west of Niš, in the south-east of the country |
The southern gateway, and the nearest international airport to Kopaonik at roughly 120 km by road. One runway, 11/29, 2,500 by 45 metres, a tower listed as manned round the clock and customs shown as available. The field is shared with a military air base, handling is listed as compulsory and prior permission as required for every flight, 24 hours ahead |
| Morava, Kraljevo | KVO / LYKV Lađevci, about 15 km from Kraljevo and 102 km from Kopaonik |
A civil terminal built beside a military air base. A runway of about 2,265 metres, a tower listed as manned round the clock and customs listed as available. Fuel is shown as unavailable, and as a military site it asks for prior permission about 48 hours ahead. It suits a Kopaonik approach from the west or a day among the monasteries of the Ibar and Morava valleys |
| Ponikve, Užice | UZC / LYUZ 12 km north-west of Užice, below Zlatibor |
A state-owned airfield with a runway of more than 3,000 metres and a record of occasional general aviation traffic, though no regular passenger service. Rebuilding has been reported in phases, so the facilities, the handling and the customs position are all confirmed with the operator before we plan an arrival here, and the default for Zlatibor stays Belgrade |
| Tivat and Dubrovnik | TIV / LYTV, DBV / LDDU Montenegro and Croatia, about 170 nm from Belgrade |
Not alternatives to Belgrade but the Adriatic airports where many Serbian summers end. Each is a little over an hour from the capital in a turboprop, and each has its own handling and frontier rules |
Four points settle most Serbian arrivals before the price goes out:
Permission comes before the flight plan
A foreign operator flying a non-scheduled charter into Serbia needs the approval of the Civil Aviation Directorate. Airport listings quote 36 hours for Belgrade, flight-support agencies work to two or three working days, and Niš asks for 24 hours' notice on every flight. We file as early as the operator can and put the permit into the timetable.
Pick the handler with the permit
Belgrade has several independent agents on the general aviation ramp: Aero Elite Services, Euro Jet, FCG OPS Belgrade Handling and Evropa Jet Services. Service and price differ, so the agent is chosen with the operator and named in the driver's instructions.
Hours are generous, but ask
Belgrade and Niš are listed with towers staffed day and night, which makes a late departure possible in a way it is not at many Balkan fields. Published hours for the military-shared airports carry a reference to the notices to airmen, and we confirm the working hours in writing for the date of travel.
Slots and parking
Listings say no slot is needed at Belgrade, Niš or Kraljevo, and one handling database describes handling at Belgrade as optional. Because one source speaks of slot coordination within the permit package, we ask for parking time in writing before the price is final.
Which field for which purpose
Belgrade for any meeting, any weekend in town and any trip to Vojvodina; Niš or Kraljevo for a ski week at Kopaonik, where they save two hours of driving over the capital; Belgrade again for Zlatibor, until the facilities at Ponikve are confirmed in writing. We never plan a Serbian arrival on a secondary field on the strength of a listing alone.
Arriving from Britain: passports, customs and permits
Serbia is not in the European Union and not in Schengen, and neither is Britain, so there is no shortcut: a flight from London lands as an international arrival and you clear Serbian passport control and customs at the first airport, with the formalities typically handled at the VIP ramp or lounge.
British citizens may stay up to 90 days in any six-month period without a visa, for business or tourism, and the passport must run for at least 90 days beyond the planned departureevery passenger, children included
Serbia stamps the passport on arrival, and the Foreign Office warns that leaving without one can bring a heavy fine or even an illegal-immigration charge; look for it before the car moves offcheck it on the ramp
a visitor must be registered with the local police within 24 hours; a hotel normally does it, while in a private villa or a rented flat the registration is your own jobhotel or host
cash or travellers' cheques worth more than about £8,500 must be declared on arrival, the form certified by a customs officer and kept for the way out, because money without it can be seizeddeclare it
Serbia does not treat its crossings with Kosovo as official borders, and a traveller coming back from Kosovo generally needs an earlier Serbian entry stamp from Belgrade, Niš or Kraljevo airport or from a land border with another neighbour; ask us before an itinerary includes itplan it before you book
The aircraft needs paperwork too
Beyond the landing permit, the handler asks for the general declaration, crew and passenger lists and the aircraft documents before arrival, and the working rule is that nothing is left to the day of the flight. A purely private flight on an aircraft you own sits differently from a commercial charter, and we confirm in writing which regime applies to yours.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, and most other nationalities who need no visa do.

Which airport for which part of Serbia
The airport follows the address, and in Serbia the address can be four hours of mountain road from the capital. Typical pairings, with road distances from the nearer field:
the airport is about 18 km from the centre, 20 to 30 minutes over the motorway through New Belgrade; the Kalemegdan fortress, Knez Mihailova and the waterfront district on the Sava bank are all close to the centreBelgrade
Novi Sad is 75 km up the A1 motorway, about an hour, which is why it has no jet airport of its own; Petrovaradin fortress, Sremski Karlovci and the monasteries of Fruška Gora are all reached from Belgrade by roadBelgrade
about 157 km from Belgrade as the crow flies; the Art Nouveau town hall and Lake Palić are close to the Hungarian frontier, and a helicopter is the fast wayBelgrade
Zlatibor is about 230 km and two hours forty-five minutes from Belgrade, with the Tornik gondola above the town; a helicopter flies the same line in about 45 minutesBelgrade
about 120 km and two hours from Niš, 102 km and about an hour and a half from Kraljevo, and roughly 290 km and four hours from Belgrade; the ski resort is the single biggest reason for a secondary-field arrivalNiš or Kraljevo
Niš airport is about 4 km from the city, a transfer of roughly ten minutes; the fortress and the August jazz festival are in townNiš
the monasteries of Žiča and Studenica, and the road up the river to Kopaonik, begin at the Morava airportKraljevo
a Serbian summer habit; Tivat and Dubrovnik are each a little over an hour from Belgrade in a turbopropBelgrade departure
Capital, mountains and the Danube: what our clients go for
Business pulls hardest, and it pulls toward the capital. Belgrade sits where the Sava meets the Danube and is home to the National Bank of Serbia and the Belgrade Stock Exchange, and the Belgrade Waterfront project on the Sava bank, built with an Emirati partner, has made it a place where investors come in person. Technology companies including Microsoft, Intel and Ubisoft run offices there. A director who needs a day of meetings lands in the morning and leaves in the evening, and that is the commonest Serbian booking we see.
The second reason is winter. Kopaonik is the biggest ski resort in the country, with about 55 km of alpine runs between roughly 1,650 and 2,017 metres and snow that falls from the end of November and stays into spring, and snowmaking covers nearly all of it. It is a resort that rewards flying: the road from Belgrade takes four hours in good weather, and a ski party that lands at Niš or Kraljevo is on the slopes by lunchtime.
The third reason is the countryside. Zlatibor is a high plateau of pine woods at about 1,000 metres with a long gondola up to Tornik, and Tara national park lies on the Drina river beyond it. In the north the Danube cuts across the Pannonian Plain, with wine at Sremski Karlovci, the fortress of Petrovaradin above Novi Sad and the monasteries of Fruška Gora. In the centre, the medieval monasteries around Kraljevo, Studenica among them, make a trip for those who like their weekends quiet.
The Serbian year: when the slopes are busy and when the river is
The country has a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers, with a mean temperature near 0 degrees in January and about 22 in July. For a flight plan the year falls into five stretches:
the ski season at Kopaonik and Zlatibor; Orthodox Christmas on 7 January and the Serbian New Year on the evening of 13 January fall in the middle of the ski season, and Belgrade is cold but fullhigh in the mountains, moderate in town
the city season: Belgrade Marathon in April, Orthodox Easter in April or early May, Museum Night and the technology fair in May, the Boat Carnival on the river in Junegood weather, moderate demand
hot, with Belgrade highs averaging about 29 degrees; many Serbian families head for the Adriatic, while August brings the trumpet festival at Guča, the jazz festival in Niš and the beer fest on the river bank at Ušćepeak for coast-bound parties
BITEF theatre festival in September, then BEMUS and the jazz festival in October; the best weather for the countryside and a lighter schedule for aircraftshoulder, relaxed
a quiet month, with the book fair at the Belgrade Fair running into its first days and the first snow reaching Kopaonik towards the endlow
A ski party is a two-leg booking
A party flying out for a Kopaonik week usually wants the aircraft to wait at Niš or to return on the day they leave, and the permit has to cover both. As a guide to what a round trip costs, Farnborough to Belgrade on a Phenom 300E is £12,950 each way, about £25,900 for the round trip; a Challenger 350 from Edinburgh is £23,450 each way.
The trumpet festival at Guča is free to enter and estimates of its crowds run to hundreds of thousands of visitors a day over a long weekend in the Dragačevo region. Rooms and roads fill early. A day trip by helicopter from Belgrade or Kraljevo is something we can price, subject to the landing site being agreed.
The Serbian calendar: festivals, fairs and a long winter
Serbia keeps its rhythm by the weather and by the Orthodox church calendar. The dated events that move a flight plan are these:
What a Serbian event does to a flight plan
The capital has two long runways and rarely runs out of parking, so a festival seldom blocks an aircraft. What it does block is the clock: the permit, the handler and the hotel have to be settled early for the biggest weeks, and we start the paperwork before the price is agreed.

Flying to Serbia with a dog or a cat
A dog or cat flies in the cabin with you. The paperwork is longer than for most European trips, because Serbia sits outside the EU and asks for a rabies antibody test before the animal leaves Britain, so the planning starts months ahead and not days.
The one fact to read before you book
Going out, the animal needs an export health certificate signed by an Official Veterinarian, built on a microchip, a rabies vaccination, and a blood sample taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, with a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an EU-approved laboratory. The sample must be at least three months old on the day of departure. Add the vaccination, the thirty days and the three months and the earliest date is about four months out. The guidance also lists an import permit from the Serbian agriculture ministry, which has to be in hand before the animal leaves Britain.
Coming home depends on whether Serbia is on Defra's list of approved countries. If it is not, the rule for unlisted countries applies: a blood test, a three-month wait and a Great Britain health certificate, with an exception for an animal that was vaccinated, tested and documented before it left. A dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing in Britain, and an animal without the right papers can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
- An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination and checked by the vet before anything is entered on the certificate;
- A rabies vaccination, with at least 21 days before travel and the blood sample taken at least 30 days after it;
- The blood test described above, and the three-month wait, which is the part that decides how early a trip is booked;
- No more than five dogs, cats or ferrets in one non-commercial movement;
- For a dog, a tapeworm treatment given in Serbia inside the 24 to 120 hour window before the flight home. Cats need no worming.
There is no vet at the airport, so we book a practice in Belgrade, or in Niš for a ski trip, for the treatment and plan the departure around it, with the time of the appointment and the time of take-off agreed in one message. We confirm the airport that receives the animal, and the paperwork, in writing before the flight.
Requirements for ferrets, birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Serbia produces them because so many trips are one-way by nature: the aircraft drops a party in Belgrade or at the foot of a ski resort and has little reason to wait.
Where Serbian empty legs come from
– The ski weeks, when a jet takes a party to Niš or Kraljevo on a Saturday and goes home empty, with the return leg to Britain the one most often offered;
– The festival weekends in the capital and the Adriatic weeks in summer, when the aircraft that brought a party to Belgrade is moved on to Tivat or Dubrovnik and back;
– Positioning from Vienna, Budapest and Istanbul, where aircraft are based and reach Belgrade in about an hour.
A client who can offer a few days has a far better chance of a match, though the operator owns the date and a leg can disappear when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Serbian empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Serbia (Belgrade) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £5,300 |
| UK (London City) - Serbia (Belgrade) | Citation CJ3+ | 7 seats | £5,300 |
| Serbia (Belgrade) - UK (London Luton) | Phenom 300E | 8 seats | £5,400 |
| UK (Southampton) - Serbia (Belgrade) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £6,850 |
| Serbia (Belgrade) - UK (Birmingham) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £7,100 |
| Serbia (Niš) - UK (Bristol) | Citation XLS+ | 9 seats | £7,850 |
| UK (Manchester) - Serbia (Belgrade) | Citation Latitude | 9 seats | £9,050 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Serbia (Belgrade) | Challenger 350 | 9 seats | £9,850 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Challenger 350 from Edinburgh to Belgrade with nine aboard comes to about £1,090 a head;
– Serbian legs are fewer than on the busiest corridors and cluster around the big weekends, so an open return date helps.

Helicopter charter
The helicopter is not for the flight from Britain. It does the last stretch: out to the Danube towns, up to the ski resorts and across the hills to Zlatibor, in place of roads that take hours. These are the sectors we are asked for:
Petrovaradin and the Danube, in place of the A1 motorwayabout 25 min
the north of the plain, Lake Palić and the Hungarian frontierabout 50 min
the plateau and the Tornik gondola, in place of nearly three hours by roadabout 45 min
the ski season without four hours of mountain roadabout 1 h
the short alpine hop from the southern gatewayabout 35 min
the slopes from the Morava airportabout 25 min
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and the operator confirms the route for your date. A landing at a hotel lawn or a private site needs the site agreed in advance, and the rules for landing away from an aerodrome are confirmed by the operator for each booking.
Two points on Serbian rotary legs
In winter the weather over the mountains decides, and a helicopter may wait for the cloud to lift when a car would simply go; plan an hour of slack. In peak weeks the seats go first, so take the helicopter and the jet as one booking.

Flights from the UK to Serbia

Serbian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
BELGRADE · THE DAY RETURN
Three directors and a morning board meeting
London City - Belgrade, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 50 min · 3 pax
The permit went in the day the dates were fixed, and the handler's car was told which ramp to wait at. The party was in the city before noon, back at the aircraft after dinner and in London before midnight, which an airline timetable would have turned into an overnight stay.
NIŠ · SKI WEEK
Six skiers from the north of England
Manchester - Niš, Citation Latitude, about 3 h 10 min · 6 pax
The party landed at the southern gateway and drove to Kopaonik, about two hours against nearly four from the capital. The roomy cabin and the midsize hold were the reason for the Latitude, since a light jet would have left ski bags behind.
BELGRADE · A SIGNING
A founder and two advisers on the waterfront
Birmingham - Belgrade, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 55 min · 3 pax
The signing ran late, so the departure was agreed as a night movement and the permit was written to cover it. The crew rested nearby and the aircraft left at first light.
ZLATIBOR · A FAMILY WEEKEND
Two couples and four children
Farnborough - Belgrade, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 45 min · 8 pax
Two light jets were quoted against one midsize aircraft, and the party chose the midsize for the bags and the pushchairs. The last stretch to the plateau was a car, about two hours forty-five minutes, with a helicopter held as the fallback if the weather turned.
WITH THE DOG · MONTHS OF NOTICE
A couple and a spaniel for a family visit
Bristol - Belgrade, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 55 min · 2 pax + 1 dog
Booking the aircraft took a day. Preparing the animal took four months, because Serbia asks for the rabies blood test and a three-month wait before departure. The tapeworm treatment was booked at a Belgrade vet inside the 24 to 120 hour window before the flight home.
EMPTY LEG · A MONDAY NORTH
A flexible return from Belgrade
Belgrade - London City, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 2 h 50 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid about £5,300, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Serbia
1How long does it take to fly to Serbia by private jet?
About 2 hours 45 minutes from London Biggin Hill to Belgrade in a Citation CJ3+, and 3 hours 5 minutes to Niš. From Manchester allow about 2 hours 55 minutes and from Edinburgh about 3 hours 5 minutes. Serbia is one hour ahead of Britain, so an eight o'clock departure lands soon after eleven local time.
2How much does a private jet to Serbia cost?
From about £12,600 one way from Biggin Hill to Belgrade on a light jet, and about £13,900 to Niš. A midsize cabin from Southampton or Birmingham runs from £16,300, and from Scotland allow £23,450 and more. Onward sectors such as Belgrade to Tivat start at £3,100 on a turboprop.
3Which airports do private jets use in Serbia?
Belgrade Nikola Tesla (BEG / LYBE) for almost every trip: two long runways, an ILS, customs on site, a tower listed as manned round the clock and a general aviation ramp with independent handlers. Niš (INI / LYNI) and Kraljevo Morava (KVO / LYKV) are the secondary gateways, chosen for a Kopaonik ski week, and both ask for prior permission. We confirm the handler and the permission in writing.
4Do I need a visa or a permit to fly privately to Serbia?
British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any six months, with a passport valid for at least 90 days after the planned departure. Serbia is outside the EU and Schengen, so passport control and customs apply on arrival, and visitors register with the police within 24 hours, which a hotel does for you. A non-scheduled charter needs landing permission from the Serbian aviation authority, which we file for you. We confirm in writing what applies to your flight.
5Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Serbia?
Yes. The animal travels in the cabin, with a microchip, a rabies vaccination and a rabies antibody blood test taken at least 30 days after it and at least three months before departure, plus a health certificate signed by an official vet and an import permit from the Serbian ministry. A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment between 24 and 120 hours before landing back in Britain. We confirm in writing which airport receives the animal.
6How do I get from the airport to Kopaonik, Zlatibor or Novi Sad?
Kopaonik is about two hours by road from Niš, an hour and a half from Kraljevo and around four hours from Belgrade. Zlatibor is about two hours forty-five minutes from Belgrade, and Novi Sad is about an hour up the A1 motorway. A helicopter flies the same lines in roughly 25 minutes to Novi Sad, 45 minutes to Zlatibor and an hour from Belgrade to Kopaonik.
