Business aviation airports in North Korea

The list below is kept for reference. Pyongyang Sunan is the country’s only international airport and a dual-use civil and military field; it is not available for a charter we would arrange, for the reasons set out at the top of this page. The country’s international airport is:

• Pyongyang Sunan International Airport, ICAO - ZKPY, IATA - FNJ.

Sunan is the district north of Pyongyang where the airport sits rather than a separate destination. Domestic services run from there to Samjiyon, Orang, Wonsan and a handful of other fields, all of them internal to the country.

 

 

There is no second international field to fall back on. Sunan is the only one, which is part of why the country has never featured in business aviation planning even in easier decades.

At the gateway airports you are handled through the business aviation terminal, where there are no queues and arriving thirty minutes before departure is enough. Beijing, Shenyang and Shanghai each have one, and our consultants can tell you which handler meets you at which.
