Private jet charter in Chad
Reaching N'Djamena from London takes a little over six hours in a long-range business jet, and the journey is only one of the questions a client has to settle. The sector from Biggin Hill is 2,563 nautical miles, which an Embraer Praetor 600 flies without a stop. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. For Chad that means the overflight and landing permit, a named handler, a frank account of what the Foreign Office says about the country, and an early answer on whether an operator will accept the trip at all.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Chad depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 to N'Djamena, nonstop, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Chad?
Chad keeps West Africa Time, one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time all year, so the clock matches British Summer Time and runs an hour ahead of London in winter. These are the sectors to N'Djamena on a Praetor 600, gate to gate:
2,563 nautical miles, the departure behind the price at the top of the pageabout 6 h 05 min
2,572 nautical miles, the usual choice from Surrey and Hampshireabout 6 h 05 min
2,714 nautical miles, the departure for the north of Englandabout 6 h 25 min
2,878 nautical miles, the Scottish departure, and the longest of the fourabout 6 h 45 min
Why the aircraft decides the plan
The Praetor 600, the Challenger 605 and everything larger reach N'Djamena from Britain in one hop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E and a midsize jet such as the Citation XLS+ have ranges of roughly 2,000 nautical miles, so they need a fuel stop on the way, which typically adds about an hour for the landing and the uplift.
A Citation XLS+ with one stop takes about 7 h 20 min gate to gate from Biggin Hill, against about 6 h 05 min for the Praetor. The operator's flight-support team chooses the stop and a routing that keeps clear of closed or restricted airspace, and we send the route with the quote.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– Manchester lies 151 nautical miles further from N'Djamena than Biggin Hill, which adds about £2,300 on a Praetor 600, and Edinburgh on a Challenger 605 costs about £17,600 more than the headline price;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies home empty. For a stay the aircraft either waits at N'Djamena, with parking and the crew's hotel as lines of their own, or returns to Britain and comes back for you. Permits, handling, fuel and airport charges are quoted separately, and that is where two quotes for the same trip usually differ.
What a UK operator can and cannot do
A price in a table is not a promise that the trip will run. The Foreign Office advises against all travel to parts of Chad and against all but essential travel to the rest of the country, including the capital. Insurers of aircraft and passengers set their own limits for the country, and some operators decline Chad altogether.
Before any quote becomes a booking we ask the operator to confirm in writing that it will fly the sector, that its hull and liability cover extends to Chad, and that the permit has been granted. If the answer to any of these is no, we say so before you pay anything.
Where an operator will not accept N'Djamena, the practical alternative is a private flight to Douala or Yaounde and a scheduled connection from there, since airline listings show services from both cities to the capital. We plan the connection and the handling at both ends.
Private jet flights within Chad and to its neighbours
Inside the borders the realistic sectors from the capital are Moundou in the south, 228 nautical miles away, and Abeche in the east, 369 nautical miles away. Beyond the borders, the airports most often asked for are in Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger. The sectors we are asked for:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| N'Djamena - Moundou 228 nm / 422 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 20 min | from £3,350 |
| N'Djamena - Abeche 369 nm / 683 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 20 min | from £7,500 |
| N'Djamena - Abuja (Nigeria) 515 nm / 954 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 40 min | from £9,600 |
| N'Djamena - Yaounde (Cameroon) 568 nm / 1,052 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 50 min | from £10,350 |
| N'Djamena - Douala (Cameroon) 604 nm / 1,119 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 55 min | from £10,900 |
| N'Djamena - Niamey (Niger) 787 nm / 1,458 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 2 h 20 min | from £13,500 |
Reading the short sectors
– A row in this table is a distance and a price, not a recommendation to go. Every sector inside Chad is checked against the Foreign Office advice for the area and against the operator's own risk assessment before we price it;
– Each international row needs its own permit and handler, and for Abeche and Moundou we confirm customs and the state of the runway and navigation aids with the handler before the aircraft is released.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. These are the typical choices for Chad:
Turboprops
Of use only for hops inside the region, never for the journey from London.
Light and midsize jets
These break the journey for fuel on the way out and suit two to five people with soft bags.
Super-midsize
The first class that reaches N'Djamena in one hop from London. The Praetor 600 sets the entry price on this route.
Heavy jets
A Challenger 605, Legacy 650 or Falcon 2000LXS flies from anywhere in Britain without a stop.
Ultra-long range
The Global 6000 and the Gulfstreams save a little time and carry up to 16 people.

Business aviation airports in Chad
One airport carries almost all international traffic, and a business jet from Britain goes there. The table adds the two regional airfields that come up in enquiries and the nearest alternate across the border, because a crew chooses its alternate before anything else:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| N'Djamena Hassan Djamous International NDJ / FTTJ |
in the capital, at 968 feet above sea level | The only international airport and the one we price to. One asphalt runway, 05/23, of 2,800 by 45 metres, with an ILS approach and fire category 8. Listed open round the clock. The airfield is shared with a military installation on the other side of the runway |
| Abeche AEH / FTTC |
in the east of the country, 369 nautical miles from the capital | A listed asphalt runway of 2,800 by 35 metres, with refuelling and air traffic control listed by one source. Not a gateway: a flight from abroad clears in the capital first, and we confirm the state of the airfield before any sector is priced |
| Moundou MQQ / FTTD |
in the south, 228 nautical miles from the capital | A listed asphalt runway of about 3,000 by 45 metres. One older source reports its navigation aids out of service, so we treat it as a field without working approach aids until the handler tells us otherwise |
| Douala International DLA / FKKD |
in Cameroon, about 604 nautical miles to the south-west | The usual alternate across the border and the entry point for a client who prefers to join scheduled flights into N'Djamena. A diversion there means a new entry and its own handling |
Chad has no private terminal we can name. We found no FBO with its own lounge at N'Djamena. International flight-support companies arrange permits, fuel, parking, crew hotels and a VIP terminal escort through authorised local handlers, and how your party is met, in the terminal or at the aircraft, is something we confirm with the handler before the flight. Crew hotels in the capital are listed at 10 to 15 minutes from the airport.
Sources disagree on one formal point. One listing shows customs and immigration as available at N'Djamena, with a customs clearance typically taking 20 to 30 minutes, while a handler database shows the airport as not an airport of entry. We settle this with the handler in writing before a quote is confirmed, and we do not plan a flight that depends on a clearance nobody has confirmed.
Four points settle most arrivals before a quote goes out:
Permit: ask early
Private and non-scheduled aircraft need prior permission from the civil aviation authority, ADAC. A published rule asks for the request at least 10 working days before departure, while the same text says permission is generally not granted more than 48 hours before the overflight or landing. Handlers quote shorter lead times, so we plan with a wide margin and never promise a date until the permit is in hand.
Validity
One handler guide lists overflight permits as valid for 72 hours from the requested schedule, so a delay of more than three days means a new request. The authority's working hours are listed as 06:30 to 14:30 UTC.
Papers for the permit
Registration and airworthiness certificates, insurance, the schedule in UTC, the routing with entry and exit points, the purpose of the flight, and crew and passenger passport copies. We confirm for your tail whether an air operator certificate is asked for.
Fuel and the ramp
Jet A-1 is arranged through the handler, with a fuel release once the supplier confirms. Aircraft parking is on a shared airfield, so the handler tells us where the ramp is open to us.
Arriving from Britain: visa, passport and the Foreign Office advice
A British passport is not enough. Passengers need a visa before the flight, and the Foreign Office gives the embassy route.
The Foreign Office says you must have a visa to visit Chad and names the Chadian embassies in Belgium and in Paris for applications. An online e-visa portal, evisa.td, in French, has also been announced, and we ask clients to confirm with the embassy which route applies to themapply well before departure
valid for at least six months after the date of arrival, and not reported lost or stolencheck the expiry
a vaccination certificate is required if you arrive from a country listed as a transmission riskdepends on the routing
a stay of more than 72 hours needs registration with the police at the Commissariat Central, with a passport photographlonger stays only
crew visas are listed as issued on arrival, usually valid for up to 72 hours; we confirm the arrangement for your crew with the handlerconfirmed per flight
The Foreign Office advice, as published
The Foreign Office advises against all travel to the northern provinces of Borkou, Ennedi Ouest, Ennedi Est and Tibesti, to the western part of Kanem Province including the town of Nokou, to the Lake Chad region, and to within 30 km of all of Chad's other borders. It advises against all but essential travel to the rest of Chad, including the capital, N'Djamena.
Its security text says terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Chad, that foreign visitors could be targeted at places such as hotels, markets and airports, and that the risk of terrorist kidnapping is high in the Lake Chad Basin and in border areas. It also lists a high risk of carjacking on roads outside N'Djamena, armed robbery in some residential areas of the capital, particularly from cars, and public demonstrations that can turn violent. Road travel after dark is advised against. Travel insurance may be invalidated if you travel against the advice, and consular help is given remotely from the British High Commission in Yaounde.
We do not plan itineraries into the areas it advises against, and we do not arrange travel that contradicts it. Clients should read the full text on the government website.
Clearance, local rules and the way home
On arrival, passengers and crew clear immigration and customs at the airport of entry, and the Foreign Office notes strict rules on the goods you can take into or out of Chad. It is illegal to photograph military sites, government buildings or airports without a permit, so cameras stay in the bag on the ramp. Carry a certified copy of your passport. Drug penalties are severe, and the Foreign Office also notes that same-sex sexual activity is illegal.
The advice for the capital is to use pre-arranged secure cars, so we book the transfer through the handler with a fixed pick-up at the aircraft steps.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. Passengers with another passport should check their own entry rules.

Which part of Chad, and how to get there from the airport
The question is less which airport than how much of the country a trip can responsibly cover:
the capital, on the Chari river close to its meeting with the Logone and facing the Cameroonian town of Kousseri across the water. Government, embassies and company offices are hereby road, with a pre-arranged car
the southern regional centre, with a long listed runway. A domestic sector is possible on paper, subject to the Foreign Office text and the state of the airfieldchecked case by case
the main town of the east. Its position relative to the border and the situation in the area decide whether a trip is advisable, and we take the Foreign Office text as the starting pointchecked case by case
in the south-east, open to visitors from the end of November to the end of May. The operator describes a 12 to 14 hour drive from the capital, 860 km, or a charter on a private contract with the park. We found no public airfield status for the park airstrip, so it is not a destination for our jetsby the park's own arrangements
Most enquiries are about the capital itself: executives and engineers from the energy and mining sectors, aid and diplomatic missions, and consultants visiting for a few days.
The Chadian year: heat and the rainy season
N'Djamena has a hot semi-arid climate with one clear rainy season:
dry months with no recorded rain, daytime highs of about 32 to 35 degrees Celsius and nights of 14 to 17, the easiest months for any outdoor programmedry and cooler
the heat builds to a peak near 40 degrees Celsius in April, and the first rains arrive in Mayhottest
the wettest period, about 147 mm in July and 204 mm in August, with rain on roughly 13 days in each month; several provincial airstrips are listed as unusable when wetrainy season
The Chadian calendar: national days and festivals
Public holidays close offices and slow every permit, and the religious ones move each year, so we check dates before a booking:
Planning around the calendar
We check the arrival and departure days against the public holidays and the authority's listed working hours before the permit request goes in.

Flying to Chad with a dog or a cat
A pet can travel in the cabin, but Chad is a country where the paperwork matters more than the flight, and the way home falls under the stricter British rules for countries outside the simple scheme.
The one fact to read before you book
Published guides describe Chad as a high-risk rabies country with no formal quarantine for pet dogs. They ask for a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel to a pet of at least 12 weeks, and a health certificate from an official vet issued within 10 days of entry, with N'Djamena airport as the point of entry. They also warn that incomplete papers risk refusal at the airport.
These guides are not official texts, and some requirements, such as the microchip, the blood test and an import permit, differ between them. We obtain the current requirements from the Ministry of Livestock and Animal Production in writing before the aircraft is confirmed.
Coming home, a pet from a country outside the simple British scheme, as we understand Chad to be, needs a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, then a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, and a wait of three months from the date of the sample before the animal travels. The wait does not apply if the tests were done and a British health certificate issued before the animal left, so we ask owners to do them before the outward flight. A dog must also be treated against tapeworm by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before landing in Britain. An animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
We confirm in writing which entry point will receive the animal and which papers are needed. Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out in our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price.
Where Chadian empty legs come from
– A charter that lands at N'Djamena and does not wait: the aircraft returns to Europe empty, and the leg home is the one most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioned after a Central African contract. Chad is a thin market, so we do not promise one.
Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Chadian empty legs follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chad (N'Djamena) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,250 |
| UK (London Luton) - Chad (N'Djamena) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,500 |
| Chad (N'Djamena) - UK (Bristol) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,600 |
| UK (Manchester) - Chad (N'Djamena) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £18,250 |
| Chad (N'Djamena) - UK (Birmingham) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £22,850 |
| UK (Farnborough) - Chad (N'Djamena) | Legacy 650 | 13 seats | £23,450 |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Chad (N'Djamena) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £24,650 |
| Chad (N'Djamena) - UK (London Gatwick) | Falcon 2000LXS | 10 seats | £24,800 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Praetor 600 from Manchester to N'Djamena with nine aboard works out at about £2,050 a seat, and with four aboard about £4,550.

Helicopter charter
We found no helicopter charter operator in Chad that we can name and verify, so we do not list one. If a client asks, we check whether a machine can be brought in, under which permit and where it could land. The only short transfer that comes up is from the airport to the centre of the capital, about 2 nautical miles in a straight line, and the Foreign Office advice on road safety in the city makes a pre-arranged car the normal answer.

Flights from the UK to Chad
Biggin Hill and Farnborough are the south-east business aviation airfields best suited to a long sector, with Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and London City as the other London options, and Southampton, Exeter, Bristol and Birmingham further out. Manchester is 151 nautical miles further from N'Djamena than Biggin Hill, which adds about £2,300 on a Praetor 600. The table below lists the British airports we work with:

Chadian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
Six typical jobs put together from booking notes with the particulars changed, so none describes one named client or date.
THE CAPITAL · THREE NIGHTS
Two directors and a series of meetings in N'Djamena
Biggin Hill - N'Djamena and return, Praetor 600, about 6 h 05 min each way · 2 pax
The permit request went in more than two weeks ahead, and the operator confirmed its insurance in writing before the quote was accepted.
ONE STOP · TWO ENGINEERS
Two engineers with soft bags
Farnborough - N'Djamena with a fuel stop, Citation XLS+, about 7 h 20 min · 2 pax
They accepted the extra landing in return for a lower quote and flew out on a Tuesday.
AID · A MISSION TEAM
Six people from an aid organisation
London Luton - N'Djamena, Challenger 605, about 6 h 10 min · 6 pax
The programme stayed in the capital, so our part ended at the airport and the handler, and the team moved in pre-arranged cars.
A TRIP THAT DID NOT GO AHEAD
Four executives and a site in the east
Manchester - N'Djamena, Praetor 600 quoted, about 6 h 25 min each way · 4 pax
The site lay in an area the Foreign Office advises against, and the operator would not accept the sector. We said so at the quote stage and moved the meeting to the capital.
WITH THE DOG · SEVERAL WEEKS OF PAPER
A couple and a labrador bound for a long posting
Biggin Hill - N'Djamena, Praetor 600, about 6 h 05 min · 2 pax + dog
Entry through N'Djamena was fixed first, and the dog was blood-tested for the British return before leaving, so there was no three-month wait at home.
EMPTY LEG · A FLEXIBLE RETURN
From N'Djamena to the Midlands
N'Djamena - Birmingham, Challenger 605 empty leg, about 6 h 15 min · 5 pax
The client gave us a window of three days instead of a date and paid about £22,850, a little under half of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Chad
1How long does it take to fly to Chad by private jet?
About 6 hours 05 minutes from London Biggin Hill to N'Djamena on a Praetor 600, without a stop. A Citation XLS+ needs a fuel stop and takes about 7 hours 20 minutes.
2How much does a private jet to Chad cost?
From about £41,100 one way from Biggin Hill on a Praetor 600. A Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £52,600, and from Edinburgh about £58,700.
3Which airport do private jets use in Chad?
N'Djamena Hassan Djamous International (NDJ / FTTJ), the only international airport, with a 2,800 metre runway, listed open round the clock. The airfield is shared with a military installation. We confirm customs clearance with the handler before quoting.
4Do British passengers need a visa and a permit for a private flight to Chad?
Yes to both. Passengers need a visa before travel, applied for through the Chadian embassies named by the Foreign Office. The aircraft needs prior permission from the civil aviation authority, and we plan with a wide margin.
5What does the Foreign Office advise about travel to Chad?
It advises against all travel to the northern provinces, the Lake Chad region, part of Kanem and within 30 km of the other borders, and against all but essential travel to the rest of the country, including N'Djamena. We do not arrange travel against the advice.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Chad?
It is possible with several weeks of planning. Guides ask for a rabies vaccination at least 21 days before travel and a health certificate issued within 10 days of entry, with entry through N'Djamena. The return follows the British rules for countries outside the simple scheme.
