Private jet charter to Malmo

London to Malmo is a flight of about an hour and fifty, with the cabin taken outright from 11,500 GBP one way. Almost every destination we sell is settled by geography, and this one is not: from the middle of Malmo, the drive to Copenhagen Airport across the Oresund Bridge is about the same as the drive out to Sturup, so the city is genuinely served by two international airports in two countries at roughly equal distance. That makes the choice a real one rather than a formality, and it is decided by which aircraft is free, what hours you need and who is handling you rather than by the map. Sturup answers most of it: a single runway of 2,800 metres that rules nothing out, half an hour from the centre, and a handling company that exists specifically to be the uncongested alternative to the Danish side. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The machines that serve this route tend to sit at Copenhagen, Stockholm, Hamburg or around London, so getting one to you is seldom the obstacle. What we settle before quoting is the handling, because the choice of ramp on this particular route changes the shape of the day more than the choice of aeroplane does.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Malmo depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is worked out on this basis: departing London Luton, a Cessna Citation XLS+, two people travelling. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Malmo?

Under two hours from the London fields, and a little less from the north of England. These are block figures with taxi and approach counted in rather than airborne minutes. Every route below arrives at Sturup, ESMS, which is the Swedish side of the choice described above.

Route Aircraft Flying time Routing
Newcastle (EGNT) - Malmo (ESMS)
515 nm / 954 km
Embraer Phenom 300E about 1 h 45 min Nonstop
London Luton (EGGW) - Malmo (ESMS)
534 nm / 989 km
Cessna Citation XLS+ about 1 h 50 min Nonstop
Manchester (EGCC) - Malmo (ESMS)
560 nm / 1,038 km
Cessna Citation XLS+ about 1 h 55 min Nonstop
Edinburgh (EGPH) - Malmo (ESMS)
565 nm / 1,047 km
Bombardier Challenger 350 about 1 h 55 min Nonstop
Belfast (EGAA) - Malmo (ESMS)
673 nm / 1,246 km
Embraer Legacy 600 about 2 h 10 min Nonstop

The flying is undemanding. Sturup stands at 236 feet on the Scanian plain with a long runway, full instrument approaches and no terrain anywhere near it. Winter brings snow rather than difficulty, since this is a Swedish airport equipped for Swedish weather, and the delays on this route come from British departure slots far more often than from anything at the Scandinavian end.

Two things that move the price on this route

The first is the ramp, and on this destination it is a decision rather than an afterthought. The Danish side is busy and priced accordingly; the Swedish side is quieter and markets itself on exactly that. Because the two airports are about equally far from the city, you are not paying a convenience penalty either way, which is unusual. We price both when the dates are firm and let the numbers speak.

The second is how flat the British column is. Newcastle and Leeds are barely closer than London and Aberdeen is nearer than Bristol, because Malmo sits east rather than south and the whole of Britain is much the same distance from it. The practical consequence is that a northern departure costs less here than clients expect, and a repositioning flight already crossing the North Sea appears on our empty legs list at a fraction of the charter rate.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Private jet flights to Malmo from Europe

Sturup takes a steady flow of arrivals from around the Baltic and northern Europe, and the sectors below are the ones we price most often.

Bombardier Challenger 350, up to 9 passengers about 1 h 50 min from 14,500 GBP

Two things worth knowing about these sectors

– Copenhagen is absent from the table and will stay absent. It is twenty-five nautical miles away and under an hour by road across the bridge, so a charter between the two is not a flight anybody should sell;

– Sweden and Denmark are both inside Schengen, so a movement between them and the rest of the area carries no frontier formality. An arrival from Britain does, and it is recorded electronically under the EU entry and exit system at whichever airport you land.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

Hourly rates show what the aircraft itself contributes. The list runs from the least expensive upwards, and on a sector past five hundred miles it accounts for the greater part of the total. Nothing on the list is ruled out by the runway at Sturup, which at 2,800 metres takes every one of them comfortably.

Light jet (Citation M2, Citation CJ2+)2,300 - 2,900 GBP/h
Midsize (Phenom 300E, Citation XLS+)3,200 - 3,900 GBP/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6500 business jets of different configurations and production years, and the list is constantly updated. The four groups below are the ones that matter on this route, where the party size rather than the runway decides what you fly.

Light jets

The Baltic and German sectors rather than the British ones. From Hamburg, Gothenburg or Berlin a light cabin is exactly right; from Britain it will reach Sturup but with little in hand once six people and their luggage are aboard.

Cessna Citation M2 · 6 seatsfrom 2,300 GBP/h
Cessna Citation CJ2+ · 6 seatsfrom 2,600 GBP/h

Midsize

Where the British table effectively begins and where most of this traffic sits. Nine seats, headroom, a lavatory that matters across the North Sea, and range enough that the sector never becomes interesting.

Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom 3,200 GBP/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom 3,400 GBP/h

Super-midsize

The Scottish and West Country answer, where the leg runs past six hundred miles and the extra speed shows on the clock. Also the sensible choice for a board that intends to work rather than look out of the window.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom 4,800 GBP/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom 5,300 GBP/h

online private jet directory

Heavy and beyond

For a party of thirteen travelling as one, and for anyone continuing east or north afterwards. The runway at Sturup takes all of it without qualification, which is one of the arguments for the Swedish side when the aircraft is a large one.

Embraer Legacy 600 · 13 seatsfrom 5,500 GBP/h
Dassault Falcon 900LX · 12 seatsfrom 6,400 GBP/h
Bombardier Global 6000 · 13 seatsfrom 8,500 GBP/h

These are examples rather than the whole catalogue. Because Sturup accepts every class without argument, what governs the choice is simply the number of seats you need and which side of the water you decide to use.

Business aviation airports in Malmo

Malmo has an airport of its own at Sturup and a second one across the water that is no further away, which is the situation nowhere else in this part of Europe produces. The panel covers the Swedish side, and the note underneath sets out how we choose between the two.

AirportMalmo, still widely called Sturup (MMX / ESMS)
PositionTwenty-eight kilometres east of the city, in Svedala
Transfer timeAbout half an hour into central Malmo
Runway17/35, a single strip of 2,800 metres
ElevationSeventy-two metres, or 236 feet, on the Scanian plain
Aircraft acceptedEvery category, up to and including converted airliners
Ground handlingA dedicated business aviation company alongside the airline handler
Customs and immigrationOn site, with Sweden inside both the EU and Schengen
Copenhagen AirportForty-seven kilometres away by road, over the Oresund Bridge
Central CopenhagenFifty-five kilometres, and under an hour in ordinary traffic
Owner and operatorSwedavia, the Swedish state airport company

Two airports, one city, and how we choose

Malmo is roughly as far from Copenhagen Airport as it is from its own, which sounds like a curiosity and is in fact the most useful thing on this page. It means the two are genuine alternatives rather than a first choice and a fallback, and that the decision can be taken on merit. Copenhagen has the deeper pool of aircraft at short notice and the busier ramp. Sturup has the quieter one, a business handler that markets itself precisely on not being Copenhagen, and no bridge between you and the aeroplane.

Our habit is to price both when the dates are firm and let you see the two side by side. Where the party is Swedish, where the meeting is in Malmo or Lund, or where the aircraft is a large one wanting space on the ground, Sturup usually wins. Where the trip is really about Copenhagen, or where nothing suitable is free in Sweden at the hour you need, the Danish side does. What we will not do is default to one of them because it is easier for us.

business aviation

The other fields in range, and what each is genuinely for:

Field When it is the better arrival
Copenhagen
CPH / EKCH, 25 nm
The largest airport in Scandinavia and the deepest choice of aircraft at short notice, with the trade-off of a busy ramp and a bridge crossing on the way to Malmo. The right answer when the trip is genuinely Danish or when Sweden has nothing free
Gothenburg
GOT / ESGG, 133 nm
Two hundred and fifty kilometres north and a different region altogether. It serves western Sweden rather than Scania, and appears here only because clients occasionally combine the two cities in one trip
Angelholm
AGH / ESTA, 49 nm
North of Malmo towards Helsingborg, with a runway suited to midsize aircraft and a quiet apron. Worth quoting when the destination is the northern half of Scania rather than Malmo itself
Kristianstad
KID / ESMK, 34 nm
East across Scania, small and rarely busy. It answers a trip to the eastern side of the province, and little else that a Malmo booking would need

Three practical points

– Ask us to quote both sides of the water rather than assuming the Swedish one. On this destination the comparison is genuinely close and it costs nothing to run;

– Sweden sits inside Schengen, so a flight from Britain crosses an external frontier and the arrival is recorded electronically under the EU entry and exit system. The formality happens at the aircraft, and your handler lodges the details with the flight plan;

– Winter is a Swedish winter, and the airport is equipped for it as a matter of routine. De-icing is arranged rather than improvised, and it is worth allowing for in the timings on a tight January morning.

You are received in the business aviation facility rather than the main building, and thirty minutes before wheels-up covers everything. Our consultants pin down which side of the water you are using, who is handling and, in winter, the de-icing.

From the apron into Scania

Sturup sits inland with fast roads west into the city and north across Scania, and the bridge to Denmark begins on the far side of Malmo. The figures below are clear-road times.

Central Malmo
west on the motorway, past Svedala
about 30 minutes
Lund
north west, the university town and the research campuses
about 30 minutes
Ystad
south east on the coast, for the ferries and the Wallander country
about 30 minutes
Falsterbo and Skanor
the south western tip, for the beaches and the golf
about 40 minutes
Helsingborg
north up the coast towards the Danish crossing
about 55 minutes
Copenhagen city centre
west across the Oresund Bridge
about 1 h 00 min
Osterlen
the eastern corner of Scania, for the art and the apple country
about 1 h 05 min

The bridge, and what it does to the arithmetic

The Oresund Bridge is the reason this destination behaves differently from every other on our list. It turns two cities in two countries into a single labour market and a single weekend, and it means an arrival on either side reaches the other in under an hour. For a traveller that removes the usual anxiety about picking the wrong airport, because there is no wrong one, only a slightly better one for your particular week.

One practical note. The bridge is a toll crossing and traffic on it is heaviest at the commuting hours in both directions, so a nine in the morning arrival at Copenhagen bound for a meeting in Malmo is the one combination worth avoiding. Landing on the Swedish side removes that question altogether, which on a weekday is worth more than the fare difference.

Helicopter transfers across Scania

Rotary work in Scania is straightforward, with flat country, short distances and reliable weather for most of the year. The times below are flying minutes and should be read against road figures that are already good.

Central Malmoabout 12 minutes
Lundabout 12 minutes
Ystadabout 12 minutes
Falsterboabout 15 minutes
Copenhagenabout 20 minutes
Helsingborgabout 20 minutes
Osterlenabout 25 minutes
Gothenburgabout 55 minutes

When the rotary leg earns its cost

Rarely, and we would rather say so. Scania is flat, small and comprehensively roaded, and half an hour by car reaches almost everything a visitor wants. A helicopter saves fifteen or twenty minutes for a considerable sum, which most clients decline once it is put to them plainly.

Two exceptions stand up. The first is a day taking in both sides of the water, where the bridge traffic is the variable and the flying removes it. The second is Osterlen and the eastern coast in high summer, when the roads across Scania carry the whole province to the same handful of villages. Landing away from a licensed site needs the owner's agreement in advance, which in Sweden is a straightforward but not instant process.

Flying to Malmo with a dog or a cat

Sweden is undemanding about a visiting dog and Britain is rather less so about one coming home, which is the ordinary European pattern. The wrinkle here is the bridge: a good many visitors cross into Denmark during the trip, and the paperwork follows the animal rather than the aircraft.

The certificate, and what the bridge does not change

A British resident now travels on an Animal Health Certificate signed by an official veterinarian and dated inside the ten days before departure, covering a single outward journey. Once the animal is legally inside the European Union it may move between member states freely, so a day in Copenhagen during a Swedish holiday needs nothing further and no second document. The certificate that got you into Sweden is the one that carries you across the bridge and back, and the only date that matters is the ten-day window before you left home.

What Sweden asks for on the way in:

  • A chip to the international standard, implanted and readable before the rabies injection is given. In the reverse order the injection does not count for travel;
  • Rabies protection with twenty-one clear days behind it, from twelve weeks of age upwards. A booster given while the previous course still stands takes effect immediately;
  • The certificate itself, signed within ten days of the outward flight and issued in English alongside Swedish;
  • Nothing at the Swedish border beyond the above. Sweden applies the standard European rules, with no extra national requirement of the kind Ireland or Finland impose;
  • For the journey home, a praziquantel dose from a vet between one and five days before you land in Britain, with the hour recorded. Dogs only, and it is arranged in Sweden rather than before you set out.

Cats and ferrets sit outside the worming requirement in both directions and need only the chip, the injection and the certificate. Five animals per party is the ceiling unless the journey is to a recognised show or competition and the entry paperwork proves it.

Veterinary surgery at the airportNone on the field
Practices nearbyA choice in Malmo and in Lund, both within the half hour
Crossing into Denmark mid-tripNothing further required once the animal is inside the EU
What the homeward dose needsA Swedish vet, timed against your landing in Britain
Restrictions on the animalNone on a charter, and it stays in the cabin with you

Under two hours with no hold, no crate and nobody separating you from the animal is a different proposition from the scheduled alternative, particularly on a northern route where the connection would otherwise be through a hub. The wider rules sit on our travel with pets page. On this route the item that governs your dates is the certificate, and the bridge does not complicate it.

The Malmo year

Malmo runs on a business calendar with a short and intense summer laid over it, and the two behave quite differently at the airport.

When the region is busy, and what it means for a booking

– Midweek through the spring and autumn, when the corporate traffic runs. Tuesday to Thursday mornings are the tightest hours, driven by the life sciences cluster around Lund and the business that crosses the bridge in both directions;

– July, when Sweden closes for the month and the coast from Falsterbo round to Osterlen fills with Swedes rather than foreigners. It is the one period when the country genuinely stops;

– The Malmo festival in August and the major fixtures at the arena, both of which fill the city without straining the airport in the same way;

– November through February, when the days are short, the prices soften and the region is at its quietest. De-icing enters the timings, and otherwise it is the easiest season to arrange anything at all.

Types of flights

Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:

  1. private flights;
  2. corporate flights;
  3. business class flights;
  4. concert tours;
  5. medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
  6. tourist flights for large and small groups;
  7. sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
  8. combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
  9. exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
  10. cargo flights, etc.

A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights (on the day of application). That holds on this route most of the year, since aircraft are plentiful in the region and the airport is rarely under pressure. Winter mornings are the exception: de-icing is booked with the handler rather than requested on the stand.

Empty Legs

Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way. The Oresund region generates a steady number of them, because an aircraft that has brought a party into Sturup is frequently wanted back in Britain or Germany the same afternoon. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.

It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.

Jet Sharing

Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.

We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1200 to 6000 pounds (depending on the destination). This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.

Main advantages of this service:

  • All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
  • You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
  • No baggage restrictions;
  • Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
  • Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.

Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

Helicopter charter

Rotary aircraft can be arranged throughout Scania and across the water in Zealand. You board beside the jet on the same apron, and if the type you want happens to be based elsewhere we fly it in ahead of your arrival.

The types that suit this region, and the job each one does:

  • Airbus H125, four passengers with luggage, the least costly way off the ramp and enough for a hop into the city or out to a house in the Scanian countryside;
  • Airbus H130, up to six seats, mechanically the same single but a good deal quieter inside, and the one families usually settle on;
  • Airbus H135, six seats, twin-engined and the type we use after dark or on a crossing over the sound;
  • Agusta AW109, six seats, quicker still and worth it when the day covers both Sweden and Denmark.

Availability shifts week to week, and the July fortnight commits furthest ahead. Please contact our aviation consultants for the current position on a particular model and date.

Malmo charters we have flown: six trips from the booking notes

Drawn from what we have flown. Initials stand in for surnames and small details differ from the originals, so no client can be picked out. Every one appears here because something local to the Oresund settled the outcome.

TWO AIRPORTS · ONE QUOTE

A pharmaceutical board: the comparison that took ten minutes

London Luton to Malmo, Citation XLS+, 1 h 50 min · 8 passengers

The meeting was at Lund and the assumption, as it usually is, was that Copenhagen would be the arrival because it is the name people know. We priced both. Sturup came out lower and put them half an hour from the campus without a bridge in between. The Danish quotation was perfectly good and simply lost on the day, which is why we run the comparison rather than guessing.

BRIDGE · WRONG HOUR

Mr H. N.: the arrival that landed into rush hour

Manchester to Malmo, Citation XLS+, 1 h 55 min · 6 passengers

An earlier trip of his had come into Copenhagen at nine in the morning with a meeting in Malmo at eleven, and the bridge at that hour carries the whole commute. He made it with minutes to spare and did not enjoy the drive. The following visit we put him into Sturup instead, thirty minutes from the office with nothing in the way, and the flying cost much the same.

NORTHERN DEPARTURE · CHEAPER

A Newcastle engineering group: closer than London

Newcastle to Malmo, Phenom 300E, 1 h 45 min · 7 passengers

They expected a premium for departing from the north east and were surprised to find the opposite. Malmo lies east rather than south, so Newcastle is nearer to it than any London field and Aberdeen is nearer than Bristol. On this destination the usual geography of British charter is turned round, and it works in favour of the north.

LARGE CABIN · SPACE ON THE GROUND

A private client: thirteen seats and room to park

Belfast to Malmo, Legacy 600, 2 h 10 min · 12 passengers

A family gathering in Scania with the aircraft staying for four days. The Danish ramp could have taken the aeroplane and would have charged accordingly for a stand in midsummer. Sturup had space and a quieter apron, and the parking across those four days was the single largest line we removed from the original quotation.

DOG · ACROSS THE BRIDGE

Mrs E. L.: one certificate, two countries

London Biggin Hill to Malmo, Citation XLS+, 1 h 50 min · 5 passengers and a labrador

She had assumed that spending two days in Copenhagen during a Swedish holiday would need a second set of papers for the dog. It does not. Once the animal is lawfully inside the European Union it moves between member states freely, and the certificate that carried it into Sweden carried it over the bridge and back. Only the homeward worming had to be timed.

WINTER · DE-ICING

A Scottish delegation: a January morning that ran to schedule

Edinburgh to Malmo, Challenger 350, 1 h 55 min · 9 passengers

Snow overnight and a departure booked for eight. This is Sweden rather than an airport surprised by winter, so de-icing was arranged with the handler when the flight was booked rather than requested on the morning. They left twenty minutes behind the slot and arrived in time, which in January is what success looks like.

Malmo and Scania: destination overview

Malmo is Sweden's third city and the least Swedish of them, a former shipbuilding town that reinvented itself around a university, a wind turbine industry and a bridge. Around three hundred and sixty thousand people live in it, a third of them born outside the country, and the average age is among the lowest in Sweden. Copenhagen is visible across the water on a clear day and reachable in under an hour, which shapes the place more than anything else about it.

Where to stay

The centre divides between the old town around Lilla Torg, which is where most visitors want to be, and Vastra Hamnen, the redeveloped western harbour where the Turning Torso stands and the city goes to swim. Business travellers usually stay central for the walk to everything. For a quieter trip, Lund is twenty minutes from Malmo and is the older and prettier of the two cities, and the Scanian countryside towards Osterlen has manor houses and vineyards that surprise people who expect only forest.

What to do

The Turning Torso is the fixed point on the skyline and the tallest building in Scandinavia, though the better half hour is spent on the beach beneath it. The old town around Lilla Torg and Stortorget is compact and handsome, and the Malmohus castle holds the city museums. Lund, twenty minutes north, has a cathedral of the eleventh century and one of the oldest universities in northern Europe. East of the city the Osterlen coast is Sweden's answer to the Hamptons, with art galleries, apple orchards and the standing stones at Ales Stenar above the sea.

When it is busy

Midweek in spring and autumn is when the business traffic runs, and July is when the country stops and the coast fills. The Malmo festival in August takes over the centre for a week. Winter is quiet, dark and inexpensive, and the city is at its most comfortable indoors.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Malmo

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Malmo?

About 1 hour 50 from Luton or London City and 1 hour 55 from Farnborough, over a distance of 532 to 566 nautical miles to Sturup. Allow around 1 hour 45 from Newcastle, 1 hour 55 from Manchester or Edinburgh, and about 2 hours 10 from Belfast. These are block times with taxi and approach included.

2How much does a private jet to Malmo cost?

From about 8,900 GBP one way out of Newcastle and 9,100 GBP from Leeds Bradford on an eight-seat Phenom. London City runs around 11,500 GBP and Luton 11,600 GBP on a nine-seat Citation XLS+, Manchester about 12,100 GBP and Birmingham 12,200 GBP, and Edinburgh 15,600 GBP on a super-midsize. Each figure buys the whole aircraft one way rather than a seat.

3Which airport should I use for Malmo?

Sturup, MMX or ESMS, is the city's own airport, twenty-eight kilometres east and about half an hour from the centre. Copenhagen Airport is a similar distance by road across the Oresund Bridge, which makes the two genuine alternatives rather than a first choice and a fallback. Sturup has a 2,800-metre runway that rules nothing out and a quieter ramp; Copenhagen has the deeper choice of aircraft at short notice. We price both.

4Why is flying from northern England cheaper than from London?

Because Malmo lies east of Britain rather than south of it. Newcastle is 515 nautical miles away and Leeds 530, while the London fields are 532 to 566 and Bristol is 625. Aberdeen is closer than Cardiff. The usual assumption that a southern departure is shorter does not hold on this route, and the pricing follows the distances rather than the habit.

5Do British passport holders need a visa for Sweden?

No visa is needed. Holders of a British passport may stay up to ninety days out of any one hundred and eighty. Since Sweden belongs to Schengen and the United Kingdom does not, the flight is an external crossing and your entry is logged electronically under the EU system. Once inside the area, crossing to Denmark over the bridge involves no further formality of that kind.
