Private jet charter in Malaysia

Malaysia lies about fifteen hours from a London airfield by Challenger 605 once a stop in Dubai is counted, and the longer part of the planning happens at the far end, where the Peninsula, its two coasts and the states of Borneo each want a different airport. Private Jets UK builds a Malaysian charter around three early decisions: the arrival field, the permit and slot that go with it, and the way you cover the last stretch. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Malaysia that usually means a business aviation terminal at Subang for Kuala Lumpur, a customs officer at the apron instead of a queue, and for a party bound for Langkawi, Penang or Borneo a second airport chosen to match the plan.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Malaysia depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Challenger 605 to Kuala Lumpur Subang with one technical stop in Dubai and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Malaysia?

Malaysia keeps Universal Time plus eight hours all year with no change of clocks, which makes it seven hours ahead of Britain in summer and eight in winter. A departure from a London airfield in the morning lands in the early hours of the next day by the local clock. These are the sectors from London Biggin Hill on the lowest-priced aircraft that can fly them with the single stop in Dubai, gate to gate, including about an hour on the ground:

London to Kuala Lumpur
6,162 nautical miles planned, the capital, entered at Subang, the field set up for corporate aviation
about 15 h 05 min
London to Penang
6,025 nautical miles planned, the island and the industrial belt of the north-west coast
about 14 h 45 min
London to Langkawi
5,964 nautical miles planned, the resort archipelago on the Thai border, the shortest sector
about 14 h 35 min
London to Johor Bahru
6,324 nautical miles planned, the southern tip of the Peninsula, across the strait from Singapore
about 15 h 25 min
London to Kuching
6,689 nautical miles planned, Sarawak, on the island of Borneo
about 16 h 15 min
London to Kota Kinabalu
6,877 nautical miles planned, Sabah, at the far end of the country
about 16 h 40 min

Why most flights stop in Dubai

The straight line from Biggin Hill to Subang is about 5,700 nautical miles on the map and 5,913 as planned, once the allowance for the airways is added. The planned figure through Dubai is 6,162 nautical miles, split into 3,067 from London and 3,095 onward to Malaysia.

We plan a leg at no more than about 85 percent of the published range. A Challenger 605, rated at 4,000 nautical miles, keeps both legs inside that limit, and it is the cheapest aircraft we can offer for the whole journey. A Global 6000 or a Gulfstream G550 cannot cover 5,913 miles inside the margin and stops as well. Only the Gulfstream G650ER and the Global 7500 sit at about 79 and 80 percent of their rated range on this sector, so they can plan a nonstop flight of around 12 h 10 min for about £187,500 and £202,100 respectively, which an operator has to confirm in writing.

Kuching and Kota Kinabalu are further from Dubai than the Peninsula, and their longer leg is beyond a Challenger 605, so the lowest-priced aircraft there is a Falcon 900LX. The quote also states whether a second crew flies or the pilots rest at the stop.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Malaysia

Typical one-way prices from Britain, cheapest first. Langkawi and Penang lead the table because they are the closest Malaysian airports to Dubai, while Kuching and Kota Kinabalu need a Falcon 900LX and the Scottish pairing to Borneo a Gulfstream G550. What these figures leave out

– The arrival airport moves the price by a few thousand pounds on the Peninsula and by tens of thousands on Borneo. From London Biggin Hill a Challenger 605 reaches Subang for about £122,200, Penang for about £119,550 and Langkawi for about £118,350, while Kota Kinabalu on a Falcon 900LX comes to about £168,850. The headline price is for Subang, the main gateway, and not for the cheaper islands;

– Landing and handling charges at Dubai, the Malaysian permits and the handler's fee are quoted on top. The figures are one-way, and on a sector this long a one-way price includes the empty flight home, since an aircraft that delivers a party to Malaysia seldom has a passenger waiting to bring back. A larger cabin such as a Global 6000 from Manchester costs about £168,300.

Private jet flights within Malaysia and to its neighbours

The Peninsula is compact and Borneo is not. Kuala Lumpur to Penang is 157 nautical miles, to Kuching 558, to Kota Kinabalu 919, and Singapore is only 180 nautical miles from Subang. The table gives the hops we are asked for most, with Singapore, Phuket, Bangkok, Jakarta and Bali as the neighbours clients add to a Malaysian trip:

Before you plan a Malaysian loop

– Every landing needs its own approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, and the application for a non-scheduled flight has to reach it at least three working days before the operation. Slot times are confirmed with the national slot coordinator before the application is filed, and the approval number goes into item 18 of the flight plan. In Sabah and Sarawak a missing number can make air traffic control delay or refuse the flight;

– Landing on an airstrip that is not listed in the national aeronautical information publication is prohibited, and military aerodromes such as Kuantan and Labuan need the Ministry of Defence's permission too, which one guide puts at three to four additional working days;

– Sabah and Sarawak run their own immigration controls, so a passenger who lands on Borneo from the Peninsula is checked again on arrival. Whether the aircraft that brought you from Britain flies the domestic sectors itself or a Malaysian operator takes them is settled in writing for each itinerary before the quote is final.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Malaysia:

Business aviation airports in Malaysia

Business jets use a short list of Malaysian airports. The first rows are the ones our flights use most, the later rows matter mainly for onward legs, and hours are in local time unless the source gives them in Universal Time:

Airport Ground How it operates
Kuala Lumpur Subang (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah)
SZB / WMSA
about 17 km west of the city centre The field for business aviation in the capital, with one asphalt runway, 15/33, of 3,782 metres by 45. SkyPark FBO Malaysia runs the Business Aviation Centre, part of the WCT group and listed in the Air Elite network: a secured apron, hangar space for short and long stays, a 24-hour operations desk, catering, crew room and private rooms, and customs, immigration and quarantine on site. The aerodrome, air traffic service and fuel are listed as round the clock, customs and immigration from 2300 to 1500, which is 07:00 to 23:00 Malaysian time, and the terminal building from 2100 to 1600, with 24-hour notice to the airport operator for use outside them. Overnight bays can run short while apron works go on, and some stand lanes take only wingspans of 28 metres and under, so we book the parking with the permit
Kuala Lumpur International (Sepang)
KUL / WMKK
about 45 km south of the city, close to the Sepang motor-racing circuit The airline hub, with runways of 4,019, 4,000 and 3,960 metres. It is configured for scheduled traffic and has no dedicated VIP lane for corporate aircraft, so the handler's advice is to use Subang unless the trip is aimed at the circuit. Slots are required, and overnight parking depends on airline traffic and slot approval. The Bunga Raya Complex, a VVIP terminal, is also listed at the airport, and SkyPark handles flights here as well
Penang International
PEN / WMKP
about 14 km south of George Town Runway 04/22 of 3,354 metres. Customs, immigration, health and the aerodrome operator are all listed as round the clock, and handling is offered by AeroDarat Services, POS Aviation and Ground Team Red. A business jet is parked on a general aviation stand or any bay the bay allocation unit approves, so a large cabin may stand among the airliners. The adjacent Bayan Lepas industrial zone makes the airport second only to Kuala Lumpur for air freight
Langkawi International
LGK / WMKL
Padang Matsirat, a short drive from the beaches and the ferry port at Kuah One asphalt runway, 03/21, of 3,810 metres, with a displaced threshold of 610 metres on runway 03 for landings. Hours are listed as 07:00 to 23:00 local time. There is no FBO in the usual sense: AeroDarat Services, POS Aviation and Ground Team Red handle private and VIP flights. It also hosts the Langkawi air and maritime show, and the ramp is crowded in that week
Johor Bahru (Senai)
JHB / WMKJ
about 22 km north-west of Johor Bahru, facing Singapore across the strait Runway 16/34 of 3,800 metres. A private aviation terminal, SBAT, stands next to the main terminal, with meeting rooms, dining and private rest areas. For a party whose real destination is Singapore the Seletar airfield, 19 nautical miles away, is the usual alternative
Kota Kinabalu International
BKI / WBKK
about 8 km south-west of the city centre Runway 02/20 of 3,780 metres. The former Terminal 2 is used for cargo, charter, VIP and general aviation flights. Hours are listed as 05:30 to 23:59 local time, with a short break after midnight on two days of the week in one guide, so we confirm them for your date
Kuching International
KCH / WBGG
about 11 km south of the city centre Runway 07/25 of 3,780 metres, on a field shared with a Royal Malaysian Air Force base. The general aviation section is small, with three bays added in a renovation, so a larger party's aircraft may be asked to position away after the drop-off. Hours are listed as 05:30 to 23:59 local time
Other designated fields
WMKD, WBKL, WMKM and others
Kuantan, Labuan, Malacca, Kota Bharu, Ipoh, Tioman, Sandakan, Tawau, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri Listed among the airports of entry. Kuantan and Labuan are military aerodromes and need the Ministry of Defence's permission as well as the civil permit
Dubai, the usual technical stop
DXB / OMDB and DWC / OMDW
the Gulf, 3,067 nautical miles from Biggin Hill Two airports are available, and the choice depends on the handler, the slot and the aircraft. The stop of about an hour is already in the flying times

Four constraints shape every arrival:

A slot, then a permit

A non-scheduled flight needs a slot confirmed with the national coordinator, which supports the landing application, and the approval itself comes from the aviation authority. The application has to reach it three working days ahead at the least, and handlers in the region ask for the slot request at least 72 hours before arrival.

An authority that works weekdays

The permit office is open on weekdays and closed on weekends and public holidays, so a request sent on a Friday evening is read on Monday.

A handler named in the application

The application lists the ground handler, and the handler enters the aircraft into the customs and immigration process, orders fuel against a fuel release sent in advance, and arranges the car.

One number in the flight plan

The approval number is written into item 18 of the flight plan, and in Sabah and Sarawak the controllers can delay or refuse a flight that lacks it. A change of airport after approval means a new application.

Where the aircraft waits

Subang has hangars and a secured apron, but bays can be scarce, and the largest cabins may not fit the narrower stand lanes. KLIA parking depends on airline traffic and slot approval. At Penang a business jet takes whatever bay the allocation unit assigns. For a stay of several days we compare leaving the aircraft in Kuala Lumpur with positioning it to Langkawi or Singapore and back, and quote the cheaper plan before the price is agreed.

Arriving from Britain: entry, permits and the handler

For passengers the border is easy, and for the aircraft the permit is what sets the date.

Visa
British citizens with a full British passport can enter for tourism without a visa and are normally allowed to stay for 90 days. A longer stay, or any trip that is not tourism, needs a visa applied for before you travel
90 days
Passport
Valid for at least six months after the date of arrival, undamaged and with no missing pages
every passenger
Arrival card
An online arrival card, the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, is submitted before the trip and is not needed when a passenger does not pass through immigration
before landing
Cash
Cash or travellers cheques worth US$10,000 or more in any currency are declared, and ringgit worth the same amount cannot be taken in or out without approval
declare
Health
A yellow fever certificate is needed only when you arrive from a country with a transmission risk, which a flight from Britain via Dubai is not
if asked
Carried items
Firearms, ammunition and replica weapons are illegal to import without a licence, and pre-authorisation through the consulate can take up to a month, so a party with armed security uses a local company that already holds the permits
security

The approvals behind every arrival

The slot and the landing permit. The aviation authority's own rule is three working days, one handling guide quotes four to nine business days, and we plan on a week, longer across a public holiday. The application states the aircraft details, the number of crew, the owner and operator, the route, the timetable and the ground handler, and the authority may attach conditions; short-notice requests are at its discretion.

The papers on board. The pilot in command produces the airworthiness and registration certificates, crew licences, journey and radio logs, the passenger manifest and a General Declaration of Health on request, and the aircraft enters and leaves through one of the designated airports of entry. Flight plans inside the Kuala Lumpur flight information region are filed at least 12 hours before departure.

The overflight and the stop. Technical landings and overflights of the Peninsula by foreign aircraft are described as needing permission through diplomatic channels, while one handling guide says overflight permits are required only for experimental, diplomatic and military flights. The operator or its support company files whichever applies, together with the permits for the countries along the track from Britain to Dubai and on.

Fuel needs a release sent to the handler in advance. A prepaid car arranged through the handler is the recommended way in from the airport, and the handlers advise using transport they have vetted.

Coming home is a flight into Britain: a General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation for Britain.

passport and customs paperwork for a private jet flight

Which airport for which part of Malaysia

These are the usual pairings of address and airport, each checked against the permit:

Kuala Lumpur and business in the capital
Subang is about 17 km from the centre and has its own terminal for private flights, with customs on site
Subang
The Sepang circuit
KLIA is closer to the track, but the slot and the overnight bay have to be approved, and the fallback is to position to Subang
KLIA
Genting Highlands
A helicopter leaves Subang for the resort in about 25 minutes, so the jet lands at Subang and the road is avoided
Subang
Penang and George Town
The airport is about 14 km from the old town and open round the clock, and the factories of Bayan Lepas are next door
Penang
Langkawi
Beaches, the ferry port at Kuah and a 3,810 metre runway, with three handlers and no FBO
Langkawi
Sarawak and Kuching
A field of 3,780 metres with a small general aviation section, 11 km from the city
Kuching
Sabah and Mount Kinabalu
Terminal 2 takes charter and VIP flights, and the city is 8 km away
Kota Kinabalu

Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and Borneo: what our clients go for

Kuala Lumpur takes most of the business traffic. Head offices, banks, the energy sector and the embassies sit within a short drive of the Petronas Towers.

Penang combines a UNESCO-listed old town with a large manufacturing zone. Engineers and buyers fly to Bayan Lepas to see a factory, and then stay on in George Town.

Langkawi is the leisure end of the trip. Families and couples take villas and resort suites on an island of beaches and mangroves, and a jet that parks for a week is practical there.

Borneo asks for time. Kuching, in Sarawak, is the gateway to the rainforest, and Kota Kinabalu, in Sabah, is the gateway to Mount Kinabalu and the dive sites of the coast. Kota Kinabalu is farther from Kuala Lumpur than Rome is from London, so a party that wants Borneo and has little time usually flies there directly from Dubai instead of through the capital.

The ridge-top resort at Genting is reached from Subang by helicopter.

Malaysian seasons: two monsoons and the haze

Malaysia is hot and humid all year, and the question is which coast is wet:

December to March
The drier months on the west coast, covering Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi, and the high season for Langkawi and Penang
peak
May to September
The southwest monsoon, with heavier rain on the west coast; the east coast islands are at their calmest from April to September
wet west
November to February
The northeast monsoon, when heavy rain and rough seas close many resorts on the east coast
wet east
March to October
The drier period in Sabah and Sarawak, with June to August the favourite months for the rainforest
Borneo

The haze from June to October

Smoke from agricultural burning in Malaysia and Sumatra can reduce visibility and air quality between June and October. A private flight follows the advisories like any other, so the plan for those months carries an alternate airport and a fuel margin.

The Malaysian calendar: festivals, a motor race and an air show

The dates that matter fall in different cities:

December to March
The dry months on the west coast and the main season for Langkawi and Penang. Kuala Lumpur is busy at Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year, and demand for aircraft is highest then
Late January or February
Chinese New Year, which follows the lunar calendar. Many families travel, hotels are full, and charter requests for the week arrive early
Date set by the lunar calendar
Hari Raya Aidilfitri, at the end of Ramadan, when much of the country travels home and roads and airline schedules are stretched
May, every second year
The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, with a flying display lasting four hours each day and the venue next to the terminal, which fills the island and its ramp
June
The Rainforest World Music Festival at the Sarawak Cultural Village, about 35 km north of Kuching, three days of performances that fill the hotels around the city
July and August
The European summer holidays and one of the busiest travel periods of the year in Malaysia as a whole
Late October or early November
The Malaysian round of MotoGP at the Sepang circuit, a weekend that has drawn nearly two hundred thousand spectators, when slots and overnight parking at KLIA and Subang are in demand

What a Malaysian event does to a flight plan

The big dates fill the hotels and the aprons at once. Handlers recommend booking parking early at both Kuala Lumpur airports when the circuit is busy, and a week with an air show at Langkawi leaves little room on the apron. Plan weeks ahead, not days.

Flying to Malaysia with a dog or a cat

Malaysia admits dogs and cats on an import permit, and the way home asks for a blood test that has to be timed within days of departure. We obtain written confirmation of the rules before an animal is booked.

What Malaysia asks for on the way in

An import permit from the Department of Veterinary Services for every animal, applied for on the department's form, at a fee of RM5 per dog or cat, and valid for 30 days. A microchip of the ISO type is implanted before the rabies vaccination, the vaccine is an inactivated one given at least 30 days before entry, and the animal must be at least three months old. A health certificate from the vet in Britain accompanies the animal.

The flight number and the arrival time are given to the veterinary department, which is reminded at least one day before the animal lands, so that a government vet can examine it and the papers at the airport before it leaves. A quarantine follows: at least seven days at the station at Kuala Lumpur International on the Peninsula, and at least 30 days in Sabah, where a rabies antibody blood test of 0.5 IU/ml or higher is also asked for.

The airport matters. The one entry point named in the sources we read is Kuala Lumpur International, where the quarantine station is, so a dog that arrives at Subang or Penang needs the department's written agreement first. Some breeds are banned outright, among them the Akita, American Bulldog, Dogo Argentino, Japanese Tosa and the pit bull types, and others, including the Rottweiler, Doberman and German Shepherd, need written approval before a permit is issued. An animal that stays aboard through Malaysia in transit also needs a permit and a quarantine period set by the authorities.

The way back is straightforward for the owner and strict for the calendar. Malaysia is a listed country for Britain, so the blood test asked of unlisted countries does not apply, and a dog or a cat travels on a Great Britain pet health certificate. For an animal that has been in Peninsular Malaysia, a second certificate is needed from the Malaysian government veterinary service, stating:

  • That the animal has had no contact with pigs in the 60 days before it leaves;
  • That it has not been on a holding where Nipah disease was found in the 60 days before it leaves;
  • That a Nipah virus antibody blood test taken at an approved laboratory no more than 10 days before departure was negative.

A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. The ten-day window shapes the plan: after a stay longer than ten days the sample is taken in Malaysia in the last week, and the result has to be back before the aircraft leaves, so we schedule the departure around the laboratory. The rules of Dubai, as a third country, are checked for an animal that stays aboard during the stop. For a private flight we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

Other destinations, and the general rules for travelling with an animal on a private jet, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a flight the operator has to make anyway, with the cabin vacant, and so it is priced low rather than flown for nothing. On a route this long the saving is large in cash, and the catch is as large.

Why empty legs to Malaysia are scarce

– Long-range aircraft that fly a party out for the Christmas, Chinese New Year or summer weeks often return to Europe or the Gulf empty a few days later, and those homeward legs are the useful ones;

– The aircraft is seldom in the right place: a leg from Penang suits a client in Penang and not one in Kuala Lumpur;

– A permit goes with the date, and the authority works on weekdays, so a leg that moves by a day can move the slot and sometimes the permit.

Clients who offer a window of several days match most often, though a leg can vanish when the original booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Malaysian empty legs follows, at roughly 40 percent of a fresh charter:

Route Aircraft Capacity Whole aircraft
UK (London City) - Malaysia (Langkawi) Challenger 605 12 seats £49,700
UK (London Biggin Hill) - Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) Challenger 605 12 seats £51,300
Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) - UK (London Luton) Challenger 605 12 seats £51,500
UK (Birmingham) - Malaysia (Penang) Global 6000 13 seats £68,850
Malaysia (Penang) - UK (Manchester) Global 6000 13 seats £69,150
Malaysia (Kuching) - UK (Farnborough) Falcon 900LX 12 seats £69,300
Malaysia (Kota Kinabalu) - UK (London Biggin Hill) Falcon 900LX 12 seats £70,900
UK (Edinburgh) - Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) Gulfstream G550 16 seats £74,800

Reading the empty-leg prices

– The price covers the whole aircraft, not a seat. A Global 6000 from Penang to Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £8,650 a head;

– The cost to you is flexibility: the date, often the hour, sometimes the airport.

Helicopter charter

Malaysian helicopter charter is a small market centred on Subang, used mostly for the first hop out of the airport and for the resort at Genting. The sectors we are asked for most are these:

Subang to Genting Highlands
a twin-engine AW139 with eight seats, a private charter to the resort helipad, subject to weather; the service runs from 08:00 to 18:00 and is booked three days ahead, with a limousine transfer on the ground
about 25 minutes
Subang, city and corporate transfers
Robinson R44 and R66 helicopters seating three or four, flown by an operator holding an air operator certificate, for VVIP transfers, tours and events
by arrangement
Kota Kinabalu and Kuching
the same operator has offices in both cities, and a local operator is based at Terminal 2 in Kota Kinabalu; we confirm the aircraft, the landing site and the permit for your date
by arrangement

Before you plan around a helicopter

– Daylight only. Helicopter movements at Subang's taxiway are limited to the hours between sunrise and sunset in visual conditions, so a late jet arrival does not make a helicopter transfer, and after dark the road is the answer;

– Size. The Robinson helicopters carry three or four people with little luggage, and a larger party takes the twin-engine cabin or two aircraft;

– Landing places. A hotel or villa lawn needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after, and the airfield notes power cables near the helicopter paths.

A helicopter suits the first stretch out of an airport and not an intercity hop, and the rotary leg is booked together with the rest of the itinerary.

Malaysian charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

The six trips below are typical jobs assembled from booking notes with the details changed, so none of them is one named client or one date.

KUALA LUMPUR · THE LOWEST-PRICED WAY IN

A delegation with a week of meetings in the capital

London Biggin Hill - Kuala Lumpur Subang, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 15 h 05 min · 6 pax

They had assumed that only an ultra-long-range jet could reach South-East Asia. A Challenger 605 flies it with one stop, and customs was cleared at the Subang terminal.

PENANG · A FACTORY VISIT

Engineers and buyers going to the industrial zone

London Luton - Penang, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 14 h 45 min · 7 pax

Penang's airport is open round the clock and sits next to the factories, so the party landed in the morning and was on site by lunch.

GENTING · A FAMILY WITH A LONG WEEKEND

Nine guests and a nanny going to the highlands

Manchester - Kuala Lumpur Subang, Global 6000 via Dubai, about 14 h 10 min · 10 pax

The jet landed at Subang and the party flew on to the resort by helicopter in about 25 minutes, in two lifts on the eight-seat aircraft. The helicopter was booked three days ahead with the flight.

LANGKAWI · THE DRY SEASON

A couple and two families on a winter break

London Biggin Hill - Langkawi, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 14 h 35 min · 8 pax

Langkawi is the cheapest sector in the table, and the booking was made two months ahead because December to March is the high season.

KUCHING · BORNEO IN JUNE

A group flying in for the music festival and the rainforest

London Biggin Hill - Kuching, Falcon 900LX via Dubai, about 16 h 15 min · 6 pax

Kuching is beyond a Challenger 605 from Dubai, so the Falcon 900LX was the lowest-priced aircraft. The permit number was written into the flight plan, because Sarawak controllers can refuse a flight without it.

EMPTY LEG · HOMEWARD FROM PENANG

A flexible return after a long stay

Penang - Manchester, Global 6000 empty leg, about 13 h 50 min · 6 pax

Offering a window of five days in place of a date is what made this one work. The client paid about £69,150, roughly 40 percent of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, and left when the aircraft was ready to leave.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Malaysia

1Can a private jet fly from London to Malaysia nonstop?

A Gulfstream G650ER or a Global 7500 can plan it: the 5,913 planned nautical miles to Kuala Lumpur are about 79 to 80 percent of their rated range, and the flight takes around 12 hours 10 minutes. An operator has to confirm it in writing. Every other aircraft in our price table stops once, normally in Dubai, and Kota Kinabalu always needs the stop.

2How long does a private jet take from the UK to Malaysia?

About 15 hours 5 minutes to Kuala Lumpur in a Challenger 605 with the stop in Dubai, about 13 hours 55 minutes in a Global 6000, and about 16 hours 40 minutes to Kota Kinabalu in a Falcon 900LX. The stop is included at about an hour.

3How much does a private jet to Malaysia cost?

From about £122,200 one way from London Biggin Hill to Kuala Lumpur Subang on a Challenger 605 with a stop in Dubai. Penang costs from about £119,550, Langkawi from about £118,350, and Kota Kinabalu on a Falcon 900LX from about £168,850. Handling at the stop, the permits and the handler's fee are quoted on top, and an empty leg costs roughly 40 percent of a fresh charter.

4What do passengers need to enter Malaysia on a private flight?

British citizens with a full British passport can enter for tourism without a visa and are normally allowed to stay for 90 days. The passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival, and an online arrival card is completed before travel. The aircraft needs a landing permit, which takes three working days officially and which we plan on a week, a confirmed slot and a handler at the airport.

5Can my dog or cat travel with me to Malaysia on a private jet?

Yes, with an import permit from the Department of Veterinary Services, a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 30 days before entry, a health certificate and a quarantine of at least seven days on the Peninsula. Some breeds are banned. Coming home, Malaysia is a listed country, but a dog or cat from Peninsular Malaysia needs a negative Nipah antibody blood test taken no more than 10 days before departure, as well as the Great Britain pet health certificate.

6Which airports can a private jet use in Malaysia?

Kuala Lumpur Subang is the field for business aviation in the capital, with its own terminal, and Kuala Lumpur International serves airline traffic and the Sepang circuit. Penang, Langkawi and Johor Bahru serve the Peninsula, and Kuching and Kota Kinabalu serve Borneo. Every landing needs a slot and a permit naming the airport.
