Private Jet Charter to Delhi from the UK

Private Jets UK puts clients into Delhi nonstop from any UK airport, with the Indian permits handled at our end. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we quote for Delhi come from two directions: the long-range fleet based around London and Paris, and the cabins that live in Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi within three hours of the city. On this route the second group often produces the better price, so we check both before anything is offered.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Delhi depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from London Heathrow Airport, Embraer Legacy 600 Jet, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Delhi?

Delhi is a long-haul run whichever way you cut it, and the number that matters is not the distance but whether your aircraft covers it in one go. An ultra-long-range cabin makes the trip from any British airport nonstop in under nine hours. A large jet with less fuel does the same journey with a technical stop, usually in Turkey or the Gulf, which adds about an hour and a half to the day and a night of crew rest to the planning:

Why the eastbound and westbound times differ

The jet stream runs west to east across this corridor, so the flight out to Delhi is routinely thirty to fifty minutes quicker than the flight home. On a same-week return that difference decides whether the aircraft can do the leg back without a stop, and it is one of the first things we check when the dates are set rather than something you discover on the day.

Private jet flights to Delhi from Europe and the Gulf

Not every arrival into Delhi starts in Britain, and the two shortest corridors into the city are worth knowing about because they change the arithmetic completely. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Muscat are between two and three hours away, which puts a Gulf departure in a different price bracket altogether, and a great many long-range aircraft are based there rather than in northern Europe. Continental Europe sits closer than London by several hundred nautical miles. These are the pairings we quote most often:

Where the aircraft sleeps matters more than where you start

– A Gulf-based ultra-long-range jet reaches Delhi in about three hours. On a London departure that same aircraft can be cheaper than a European-based one even after it flies up empty to collect you, because the positioning leg is short and the return home is short too. We look at both fleets before quoting rather than only at what sits nearest to you;

– One-way pricing swings hard on this route. An aircraft due to reposition towards Asia can carry you east for a fraction of the round-trip figure, and the same is true in reverse when a jet is heading back to Europe. Our empty legs page lists what is currently moving.

Any other departure city is priced on the same basis. For itineraries that continue from Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru or the Gulf, tell us the whole plan at the enquiry stage: internal Indian legs are flown on locally registered aircraft, and building that in from the start costs far less than solving it midway through the trip.

Private jet flights from Delhi

Half of what we arrange on this route runs the other way. Delhi sits within three hours of the Gulf, four of Southeast Asia and eight or nine of western Europe, which makes it a genuinely useful place to start a journey rather than only to finish one. Departures are also where the Indian paperwork is simplest: the aircraft is leaving rather than arriving, and the clearances were settled when it came in. These are the outbound pairings we quote most often:

Delhi to London: what makes the westbound leg different

– It takes longer. The prevailing winds run against you going home, so the same aircraft that covered the outbound in eight and a half hours needs closer to nine and a half. On a marginal payload that is the difference between nonstop and a technical stop, and it is worth settling before the aircraft is chosen;

– Departure timing is a winter question. Between mid-December and early February the fog window shapes the early morning, so a westbound departure planned for six in the morning is a different proposition from the same flight at noon. More on that below.

Any other destination is priced the same way, and one-way pricing swings hard in both directions on this corridor. An aircraft finishing a job in Delhi and due back in Europe or the Gulf can carry you at a fraction of the round-trip figure; our empty legs page shows what is currently moving.

Business aviation airports in Delhi

Private flights into the capital use Indira Gandhi International (DEL / VIDP), and there is no realistic alternative for a jet arriving from abroad. What has changed in recent years is how you experience it: Delhi now has a dedicated general aviation terminal, so a private arrival no longer means walking the same halls as a wide-body full of passengers.

RunwaysThree, the longest 4,430 m
Customs and immigrationOn site, designated airport of entry
Private terminalDedicated general aviation terminal with its own apron
SlotsRequired, arranged with the permit
Operating hours24 hours

The general aviation terminal is India’s first purpose-built facility of its kind, run as a joint venture with an internationally accredited handler, and everything a private passenger needs sits inside it: baggage, customs and immigration all handled in one building close to the operational runway rather than scattered across the main terminals. The handler quotes about five minutes from the car door to the aircraft steps, which on a normal day is roughly what it takes. The wider plan for the site runs to more than seventy parking bays, two hangars and two fixed base operators, with round-the-clock movements.

business aviation

Three approvals, not one, and they are not the same thing

A foreign-registered aircraft needs landing clearance from the Indian civil aviation authority, and the reference issued with it goes into the flight plan itself: without that number the plan is rejected and the aircraft does not enter Indian airspace. Separately from it come the airport slot and the parking approval, which at a field as busy as Delhi is the constraint people underestimate. An aircraft can hold a valid permit and still have nowhere to stand. We file all three together, well before the official minimum, because an incomplete application is rejected rather than queried and the clock starts again.

If the trip continues beyond Delhi

The jet that brings you in cannot carry you on to another Indian city: a foreign-registered aircraft may not move passengers between two points inside the country. Domestic sectors go on locally registered jets, which we book alongside your international charter so the timings hold, and for Agra, Jaipur or Rishikesh a helicopter from Delhi is usually quicker than any fixed-wing alternative. The rule and the ways around it are set out in full on our private jets to India page.

Two other names come up in searches and are worth clearing up. Safdarjung was the capital’s airport until the early nineteen sixties and is no longer used for charter traffic. Hindon lies east of the city and handles limited civil operations. Neither is an option for an international private flight, which is why every arrival we arrange goes into Indira Gandhi. Jaipur and Chandigarh, both under an hour away by air, occasionally serve as alternates when Delhi parking is full during a summit or a major event.

India is outside the European visa arrangements British travellers are used to, and an entry visa is required in advance, including for short business trips. That is a passenger matter rather than an aviation one, but it catches people who are used to flying at short notice, so we raise it at the enquiry stage rather than assuming it is handled.

From the aircraft steps to your meeting

Delhi is a capital of distances. The airport sits in the south-west of the city, and where you are going from it changes the day far more than which aircraft you arrived on. These are the journeys our passengers actually make, with the times we plan against rather than the ones a map suggests:

Aerocity
the hotel district on the airport’s doorstep, where most short business trips actually stay
5 to 10 minutes
Gurugram
corporate campuses and the financial district, quick on the expressway and slow at rush hour
30 to 50 minutes
Lutyens’ Delhi and the diplomatic quarter
government, embassies and the older hotels around the centre
35 to 50 minutes
Connaught Place and the commercial core
offices, banks and the traditional business address
40 to 55 minutes
Noida and Greater Noida
technology and manufacturing, the longest of the regular runs
60 to 90 minutes
Central Delhi by helicopter
used when a same-day schedule leaves no room for the ring road
a few minutes in the air

Two things worth deciding before you land

– Timing beats routing. The same drive to Gurugram takes half an hour at eleven in the morning and well over an hour at six in the evening, so on a tight schedule we would rather move your departure time than promise a faster car;

– Cars meet the aircraft. Arriving through the general aviation terminal means the vehicle comes to the apron rather than to a kerbside two terminals away, and the driver has your tail number rather than a flight code. It sounds small and it saves twenty minutes on every arrival.

Flying to Delhi with a dog or a cat

Delhi is entirely manageable with an animal on board, and the flight itself is the easy part: nothing goes in a hold, there is no weight limit, and most dogs sleep through a nine-hour sector. The work is in the paperwork, and it starts months rather than weeks before departure.

Do the blood test in Britain, before you go

India does not sit on the list of countries from which an animal may return to Great Britain under the ordinary rules. The standard route home involves a rabies antibody test taken at least thirty days after vaccination and then a three-month wait before the animal may enter Britain. There is a legitimate shortcut and it only works in one direction: have the sample drawn by your own vet here, before departure. A test done in Britain remains valid for the return provided the rabies cover never lapses, and the waiting period falls away. Owners who leave this until they are already in Delhi are the ones who fly home without the dog.

On the Indian side the requirements apply on a private flight exactly as they would on an airline:

  • A No Objection Certificate from the national animal quarantine service is needed to bring a dog or cat into the country, whatever aircraft it arrives on, and it is obtained in advance rather than at the border;
  • Two animals per owner is the accepted maximum for pet movements. A third changes the category and the paperwork with it;
  • Only dogs and cats count as pets for import. Birds and other species fall under separate licensing and may involve CITES permits;
  • A microchip, current rabies vaccination well before entry and a veterinary health certificate, with the quarantine officer checking the file on arrival;
  • Delhi is one of the cities where the quarantine service is present, which is part of why it is the practical entry point for anyone relocating with animals.

Two practical points for this route

Heat is the first. Between April and June the apron in Delhi is punishing by mid-morning, so for animals we schedule departures and arrivals into the early hours or the evening and keep the ground time as short as the formalities allow. The second is the return: leaving India again needs its own clearance from the quarantine service and a health certificate issued within days of the flight, so we book that appointment as part of the schedule rather than leaving it to the week of departure.

Requirements on both sides are revised from time to time, so our managers confirm the current set in writing for your dates before anything is booked. The picture for other species, from ferrets to parrots, is set out on our flying with pets guide.

When to fly to Delhi, and when the city fights back

Delhi has a season for everything, and two of them affect aviation directly. Getting the dates right here saves more than choosing a different aircraft.

The fog window, and the question to ask your broker

From 10 December to 10 February the Indian regulator runs an official fog window, and Delhi is where it bites hardest. The airport itself is well equipped: its runways support the most capable low-visibility category in the country, which permits landings with runway visual range under fifty metres. The catch is that the airport being capable is not the same as your flight being capable. Both the aircraft and the crew have to be certified for those approaches, and take-off needs better visibility than landing does, around a hundred and twenty-five metres. The worst hours run from around midnight to mid-morning, exactly when a long-haul arrival from Europe tends to land. So the question worth asking before you book a January trip is not whether Delhi is open, but whether the operator you have been offered is cleared to use it in fog. We confirm that in writing on every winter booking, and where the answer is no we either change the aircraft or move the arrival into the afternoon.

October to March
pleasant weather, the wedding and conference calendar at full tilt, and the busiest months for private arrivals
the season
Mid-December to early February
the fog window, with disruption concentrated in the small hours and after dawn
plan around the mornings
November to February
aircraft and parking under pressure in waves, particularly around auspicious dates
wedding season
April to June
apron temperatures make midday ground time unpleasant and reduce payload on departure; early and late slots are better
heat
July to September
flying is routine, helicopter transfers are not, and afternoon thunderstorms move schedules
monsoon

The practical version of all this: for October to March arrivals book five to eight weeks ahead, treat January mornings as a planning question rather than an assumption, and if your trip includes a helicopter leg out to Agra or Jaipur, avoid building it into the first hour after a winter dawn.

Types of flights

The brief on this route is unusually varied, and the aircraft follows from it rather than the other way round. What we are asked for into and out of Delhi, roughly in order of frequency:

  • Corporate travel, from board visits and site inspections to negotiation weeks where the return date moves twice before departure;
  • Family and wedding travel between November and February, often with luggage volumes that decide the cabin size on their own;
  • Diplomatic and delegation flights, where the passenger list is fixed weeks ahead and the paperwork carries its own approvals;
  • Medical transport, both patients coming to Delhi for treatment and repatriation flights home, arranged with a doctor and equipment on board;
  • Relocations, usually with animals, where the timeline is set by quarantine paperwork rather than by the flight;
  • Combined itineraries, where the international jet is paired with locally registered aircraft or helicopters for onward legs inside the country.

Two of these carry their own planning rules. Medical flights need the treating clinic’s clearance and, where an escort travels, a crew rest plan for a sector of this length. Diplomatic movements go through additional clearance channels and cannot be arranged at short notice. Everything else on the list comes down to the same three variables: how many are travelling, how much they are bringing, and whether the schedule allows a technical stop.

Urgent departures within Europe we arrange the same day. Delhi is the exception, because the Indian landing clearance takes several working days and cannot be compressed, so a request for this route should reach us well before the intended date.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight sold at a discount, and the Delhi corridor throws off more of them than most people expect. The reason is structural: very few of the long-range jets that serve this route are based in India. They arrive from Europe or the Gulf, drop their passengers, and then either wait, go home or continue east to start another job. Every one of those movements is an aircraft flying with empty seats.

Where they appear on this route

– Eastbound out of London and Paris, when an aircraft is moving towards Asia to begin a charter and has four or five days’ notice before it goes;

– Westbound out of Delhi, after a client has been delivered and the jet is due back at its European base;

– On the Gulf shuttle, where Dubai and Doha based cabins move to and from Delhi constantly and the legs are short enough to be genuinely cheap.

Savings on a standard charter run from roughly half to three quarters, and the trade is flexibility: the route, the date and often the hour belong to the aircraft rather than to you, and a leg can be withdrawn if the original booking shifts. On a nine-hour sector that matters more than it does on a short European hop, so we treat empty legs on this route as an option worth watching rather than a plan to build a trip around. Tell us the week you want to travel and we will flag matching legs as operators release them; current offers are listed on our empty legs page.

Jet Sharing

Jet sharing splits one aircraft between parties who are travelling the same way on the same day, so the cost of the cabin is divided rather than carried by one client. On short European routes it is close to a scheduled product. On Delhi it works differently, and it is worth understanding why before you count on it.

A nine-hour sector is expensive enough that a shared cabin still costs several thousand pounds a seat, and the aircraft that fly it are long-range rather than light, so there are fewer of them and they move on fixed commitments. What that means in practice is that sharing on this route is opportunistic: it happens when a group with spare seats is already going, most often around wedding weeks, industry conferences and the school holiday peaks in December and July, rather than on a published schedule.

What is retained on a shared flight

– The private terminal at both ends, with arrival about half an hour before departure rather than three;

– Luggage that is measured in what fits rather than in allowances, which on an India trip is usually the deciding factor;

– Pets in the cabin, subject to the Indian paperwork set out above, and the same catering and cabin service as a sole-use charter.

If a shared seat on this route interests you, the useful thing to give us is a week rather than a date, along with the number travelling. We hold those requests against departures we already know about and come back when the seats and the schedule line up, which is a slower process than booking a whole aircraft and a considerably cheaper one.

jet sharing

Helicopter charter

In Delhi the case for a helicopter is not glamour, it is arithmetic. The capital sprawls, the traffic is legendary, and the places clients most want to reach from it are two to six hours away by road. A rotary transfer collapses that into minutes, and it also sidesteps the second round of airport formalities that a short fixed-wing hop would involve.

Where our clients fly on from Delhi

Agra and the Taj Mahala day trip that works, against four hours each way on the motorway
Jaipur and the Rajasthan palace hotelsunder an hour, and the usual arrival for weddings
Rishikesh, Haridwar and the Ganges valleythe hill country north of the plain, reached without a night on the road
Corbett and the tiger reserveslodges that are otherwise a long drive through the foothills
Gurugram and Noida corporate campusesminutes across the city instead of a crawl around the ring road
Wedding and estate venues around the capitalguests moved between sites on a schedule that cannot slip

What has to be arranged in advance

– Helicopter movements carry their own permissions and landing site approvals, separate from the clearance for the jet. That is why we ask about onward transfers when the charter is first discussed rather than after it is confirmed;

– Season shapes what is possible. The monsoon makes rotary flying weather-dependent through the summer, and winter fog over the plain routinely closes the early morning window, so we plan a road alternative into the same day;

– Machines are Indian-registered and locally operated, which solves the internal movement question: a helicopter booked in India may carry you between Indian points, while the foreign jet that brought you may not.

Types in regular use on these routes run from the single-engine Airbus H125 for short hops to twin-engine H145 and AgustaWestland AW139 cabins for larger parties and longer legs over the foothills. We price the jet and the helicopter as one movement so the crew has your arrival time before you leave Britain.

Delhi flights from the desk diary: six recent trips

What the route looks like in practice rather than in a price list. Six jobs from recent months, written up from the notes; surnames appear as initials and a few particulars have been changed.

CORPORATE · NONSTOP

Mr R. C.: a board meeting, and the aircraft that could not do it

London - Delhi, Gulfstream G550, about 8 h 40 min · 5 pax

The client had been quoted a large jet by another broker at a tempting figure. The catch was a fuel stop in Turkey that turned a working day into an overnight, and nobody had mentioned it. We repriced on a G550 that does the sector nonstop, which cost more per hour and less in total once the hotel and the lost morning were counted. He landed at seven and was in the room by nine.

PARKING · SUMMIT WEEK

A trade delegation: the permit was fine, the apron was not

Farnborough - Delhi, Bombardier Global 6000, about 8 h 35 min · 9 pax

A visit that coincided with a major international summit, when every stand at the airport was spoken for. The landing clearance was never in doubt; the parking approval was. We filed early, secured a slot, and then flew the aircraft out to Jaipur to wait rather than paying for a stand that did not exist. It came back for the departure three days later, and the client never saw the problem.

MULTI-CITY · THE RULE

The K. group: Delhi first, then three more cities

London - Delhi + internal legs on an Indian operator · 7 pax

The brief asked for one aircraft to cover Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and back. A foreign-registered jet cannot carry passengers between two Indian points, so that itinerary does not exist in the form it was requested. We flew the international legs on the Global, moved the party internally on a locally registered Legacy, and matched the timings so the handover felt like one trip rather than two bookings.

WEDDING · HELICOPTER

Ms A. S.: Delhi in the morning, Rajasthan by lunchtime

London - Delhi + helicopter to Jaipur · 6 pax

A December wedding at a palace hotel. The jet landed at the general aviation terminal, the party cleared customs in the same building, and the helicopter lifted from the adjacent apron under an hour later. By road the same journey is the best part of five hours on the day the roads are busiest. The hard luggage went ahead by car the previous evening.

PETS · RELOCATION

Dr M. B.: a two-year posting, and one blood test that mattered

London - Delhi, Dassault Falcon 8X, about 8 h 45 min · 3 pax + spaniel

A family moving out for a fixed term. The question that shapes these trips is not the outbound but the return: India is unlisted for pet entry into Britain. The sample was taken in Buckinghamshire five months before departure, which meant no three-month wait when they came home. The Indian quarantine paperwork was arranged before the aircraft was confirmed, and the flight itself was uneventful.

EMPTY LEG · EASTBOUND

Mr T. J.: the aircraft was repositioning anyway

London - Delhi, Global 6000 empty leg, about 8 h 30 min · 4 pax

An ultra-long-range jet due to fly east empty to start a charter in Asia. We caught it four days before it moved, and the client paid a little over half the standard one-way. These legs surface on the Delhi corridor more often than most people expect, in both directions, because the aircraft on this route rarely stays where it lands.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Delhi

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Delhi?

About 8 h 30 min nonstop on an ultra-long-range aircraft such as a Global 6000, G550 or Falcon 8X, covering roughly 6,700 km. On a large jet with less fuel the same trip needs a technical stop, usually in Turkey or the Gulf, which adds about an hour and a half. The flight home is typically thirty to fifty minutes longer because of the jet stream.

2How much does a private jet from London to Delhi cost?

From about 63,000 EUR one way on a long-range cabin, rising to roughly 72,000 EUR on an ultra-long-range aircraft with a larger interior. From Scotland or Northern Ireland allow 66,000 to 69,000 EUR. From the Gulf the same destination costs far less: Dubai to Delhi starts around 22,000 EUR.

3Which airport do private jets use in Delhi?

Indira Gandhi International (DEL / VIDP), which operates around the clock and has a dedicated general aviation terminal with its own apron, customs and immigration in the same building. Safdarjung has not served charter traffic since the nineteen sixties, and Hindon is not an option for an international private flight.

4Can my jet take me on from Delhi to Mumbai or Goa?

No, if the aircraft carries a foreign registration. The rule bars any such jet from lifting passengers at one Indian point and landing them at another, and it holds even when no fare changes hands. What happens instead is straightforward: the international cabin waits, is stood down or flies home, and a locally registered aircraft covers the domestic sectors, both booked together so the timings hold.

5What permissions does a private jet need to land in Delhi?

Landing clearance from the Indian civil aviation authority, whose reference number must appear in the flight plan, plus an airport slot and a parking approval. At a field as busy as Delhi the parking is often the binding constraint rather than the permit, so applications go in well ahead of the official minimum.
