Private jet charter in Palermo
Sicily's capital lies about two hours forty from the London fields in a business jet, and the first question a client has to answer is which of the island's airports the trip really needs. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around that answer. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Palermo is a long hop by London standards. Its 3,326 m runway takes anything we send, the airport is coordinated and rewards an early slot request, and three more island airfields sometimes serve the trip better. The real decisions are the date, the cabin size and where on Sicily you actually want to wake up.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Palermo depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Palermo?
Two hours forty from the south of England, up to three hours twenty from Scotland, and one hour of clock difference to remember on landing, because Sicily keeps Central European time. At 1,002 to 1,325 nautical miles this is the far end of the short-haul range: a light jet can do it with a light load, but most clients are happier in a midsize cabin from the first quote. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Falcone Borsellino a little before eleven local time. The airport lies at Cinisi, about 35 km west-north-west of the city, so the transfer is a real part of the day: a taxi takes around 30 minutes, the airport train about 40. A client who left a London office at half past six can be at a Palermo lunch table by half past twelve, and the whole journey from central London to central Palermo comes to roughly five hours, against most of a day and usually a change of aircraft by scheduled service.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Light jets fly this route, but it is a long sit for a small cabin, and the passenger and bag count decides whether the quote works. For two or three people with ordinary luggage we price a Phenom 300E beside the midsize alternative so you see both figures;
– From four people upward, or with golf bags, beach kit, a family or a dog, a midsize cabin such as the Citation XLS+ is the sensible start. Close to three hours is long enough that cabin height and a proper lavatory matter;
– Heavy aircraft make sense when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you for several Italian or Mediterranean stops, or when Palermo is the first leg of something longer.

Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Falcone Borsellino airport. The July festival week and the weekends of high summer sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Sicily from the air: when a short hop beats the autostrada
Catania is 107 nautical miles from Palermo, a flight of 50 minutes in a PC-12 against a long drive across the middle of the island. Road distances are the reason clients ask for it: Palermo to Taormina is about 270 km and takes two and a half to three hours by car, while Catania airport to Taormina is 67 km and 45 to 55 minutes. Comiso, at 105 nautical miles, serves the south-east around Ragusa. The other direction is almost too short to bother with: Trapani Birgi is only 34 nautical miles away, so a quote to it is set by the aircraft minimum and not by the distance. Malta (161 nautical miles) and Tunis (165) are proper international sectors with their own arrival formalities, which we agree before the quote.
Before you accept an onward quote from Sicily
– Which airport on the island. Palermo and Catania are coordinated airports where slots are required and handling is mandatory, while Trapani is dual-use with an Air Force wing based beside the civil side, and its published hours are a weekday window. A quote that ignores these is a quote that will change;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Palermo to Catania to Olbia over a long weekend costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Palermo between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Palermo:
Light jets, for a lighter party
At two hours forty or more these are for two or three people with modest luggage. The range is there, but the margin is thinner than on a Paris or Milan run, so we check the load first and quote a midsize cabin alongside.
Midsize, where most Palermo bookings land
Four to eight people, golf bags, a long weekend of luggage and a flight of close to three hours: this is the class that fits the sector without paying for range you will not use.
Super-midsize and large
For a family or delegation travelling as one party, for a team that wants to work in the air, and for trips that carry on from Sicily to the Gulf or West Africa rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for hops inside Sicily: Catania and Comiso are about an hour or less, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the north coast, a villa with no runway, a yacht at anchor or the slopes of Etna. The landing site is cleared before we quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Sicily is at the southern edge of the European charter fleet, which cuts two ways: aircraft are plentiful in Rome, Naples and Malta, a short positioning hop away, but a jet based in Britain flies the long sector twice on a one-way booking, and that is why a flexible date often saves more than a smaller cabin.

Business aviation airports in Palermo
One airport carries the city. The others matter for the west, the east and the south-east of the island, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Palermo, Falcone Borsellino (Punta Raisi) PMO / LICJ |
The answer for most trips to the capital. It sits at Cinisi, about 35 km west-north-west of the city, with two runways: 07/25 of 3,326 m and 02/20 of 2,068 m. GESAP, the managing company, has a lounge in the main terminal that Fly Service works from, and Universal Aviation supports crews through local agents. Customs is available and the airport is an airport of entry. Handling is mandatory and slots are required. Directories disagree on the hours, one giving 24 hours and another 05:00 to 23:00, so we confirm before a late arrival |
| Trapani, Birgi (Vincenzo Florio) TPS / LICT |
The western alternative, about 15 km south of Trapani, with a 2,695 m runway. A dual-use field: the Italian Air Force 37th Wing is based here, and civil traffic is run by Airgest. Customs is available, handling by Fly Service is listed, and slots are listed as not required. Published airport hours are a weekday window, so weekend and late arrivals are agreed in advance. The field for the Trapani coast and San Vito Lo Capo |
| Catania, Fontanarossa (Vincenzo Bellini) CTA / LICC |
The eastern gateway and the busiest airport in Sicily, about 5 km south-west of the city, with a runway of 2,436 m (08/26). Customs is available, handling is mandatory and slots are required. This is the field for Etna, Syracuse and Taormina, and it is 107 nautical miles from Palermo |
| Comiso, Pio La Torre CIY / LICB |
A former air base in the south-east, opened to commercial and general aviation after its military years, with a 2,538 m runway. It lies about 5 km from Comiso and 15 km from Ragusa. A quiet alternative for a stay around Ragusa, with far less traffic than Catania and a long drive from Palermo |
| Palermo, Boccadifalco LICP |
A small general aviation field on the edge of the city, near Monte Cuccio, with a single runway of 1,220 m. It has no commercial flights and is used by an aero club, so it is a niche for the lightest aircraft and not a rival to Falcone Borsellino |
Four points settle most Palermo arrivals:
Choose the handler
Handling is mandatory at Falcone Borsellino. Fly Service operates from the GESAP lounge in the main terminal, and Universal Aviation covers permits and crew support through local agents. Directories list several other names, so we ask the operator for its preference and give your driver the door as well as the airport.
Hours, slots and engines
Palermo is a coordinated airport and slots are required, so the request goes in with the quote, not after it. The listing also carries restrictions on running the auxiliary power unit on the ground, which crews need to know. Published hours differ between sources, so for an early or late movement we confirm in writing first.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passengers arriving from Britain pass passport control as well as customs at the airport. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, and the passport should typically be under ten years old with at least three months left. Customs is available at the terminal.
Car and the road
The airport is 35 km from the city, so tell the driver the handler and the hotel, not just the airport. A taxi takes around 30 minutes and costs about £40, the train is about 40 minutes and the bus about 50. For the Festino night, plan the final stretch around the closed streets.

Border, passport and the way home
A flight from Britain to Sicily is an arrival from outside Schengen, so the passengers show their passports and clear customs at Palermo, Catania or Trapani. Coming back, the jet lands in Britain as a foreign flight, so the party goes through passport control and customs at the British airfield, and we file the General Aviation Report between 48 hours and 2 hours before departure. Landing first at an aerodrome that is not set up for customs risks a £2,500 fine, plus £2,000 for each passenger without permission, which is why the British field is fixed in the quote. Visitors who need no visa for Britain but are not British or Irish citizens also need an ETA before they fly.

From the apron to the Cassaro
Palermo is a dense old city on a bay, with the cathedral and the Cassaro, the old main street, running from the sea-front promenade of Foro Italico into the historic centre. The airport is 35 km away along the coast, so the distances that matter are the ones between the field and the city, and those between Palermo and the rest of the island.

Flying to Palermo with a dog or a cat
Italy asks for the same EU paperwork as any other country, and the flight is long enough that most animals settle and sleep. The animal sits beside you in the cabin with no hold involved. Two dates decide the trip: the day the certificate is issued, because it counts ten days for entry to the EU, and the tapeworm appointment for a dog, which has to fall in the right window for the way home.

What Italy asks for:
- A microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time, never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate issued for this trip, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate;
- No more than five animals per traveller, entering through a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing together with the paperwork before the flight;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the flight back to Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt. Italy does not ask for tapeworm treatment on the way in.
What catches owners out on a Sicilian trip
– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment you book in Sicily, towards the end of the stay, and not something you do before leaving. A Sunday evening flight home needs the visit on Wednesday evening or later, and a country villa an hour from the nearest vet makes that harder than it sounds;
– A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate is fresh for each trip, and an animal whose rabies vaccination lapses during the stay loses the right to re-enter on it;
– If the trip includes an island ferry, a hotel or a rented villa, check their pet rules before the quote, because each sets its own and a helicopter operator has to agree to an animal separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Palermo calendar: festivals, theatres and a long summer
Sicily has no single peak. The rhythm runs from almond blossom in late winter through the Greek theatre season in spring and the saint's festival in July to a food festival on the western coast in September. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why festival week costs more
Not the flying. Aircraft positioned from Rome, Naples or Malta are close, and the Sicilian fleet is not thin. What gets tight in July is the slot at a coordinated airport, the handler, the cars and the hotel rooms near the Cassaro, all in the same days, and the summer weekends behave the same way. A booking made a fortnight before the Festino can still be done, but it pays more, and the aircraft may come from another country. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Palermo is easy to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Palermo price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The week after the Festino is calmer, and so is most of October;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Rome, Naples or Malta takes far less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Consider Catania or Trapani when the trip is really to the east or the far west. A shorter drive can pay for the difference between airports, and Catania has the larger choice of aircraft.
Types of flights
Palermo produces a different mix from the Italian mainland cities we cover, because it is a regional capital, a port and the starting point for the largest island in the Mediterranean.
- Business and institutional travel to the regional capital, where the dates are fixed by meetings and the handler's arrival formalities are the main concern;
- Long weekends in the old city, with a programme of churches, markets and long lunches, usually small parties with a dog or a child;
- Triangle trips that land in Palermo and leave from Catania or Trapani, which saves a day on the road;
- Event travel in spring, summer and September: the Syracuse theatre season, the Taormina film festival, the Festino and the couscous festival;
- Yacht and sailing trips, with crew changes and owners flying in to join boats at Sicilian harbours;
- Multi-stop loops that take in Malta, Naples, Rome or Sardinia in a single booking.
A same-day return from London is possible and not recommended. Close to three hours each way, door to door, leaves little time on the ground for the cost of a crew that waits, and a one-night stay is almost always the better plan. If a day trip is the only option we quote it both ways so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. To Sicily they come from the pattern of the season rather than from sheer volume, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Palermo empty legs come from
– Summer positioning. Operators send aircraft south for the island and yacht season, and the same aircraft often return empty on a Sunday or Monday, which produces northbound legs;
– Festival weeks. When a party flies in for the Festino or the September food festival, the aircraft frequently leaves empty a day later, and that outbound leg can be cheap;
– Sicilian triangles. A jet that brings clients into Palermo and collects another party at Catania repositions across the island empty, and the short Sicilian hop is the cheapest leg on offer.
Because the Sicily corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Palermo match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Palermo a helicopter is a tool for the island and not for the city. The old centre is small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the Taormina and Etna side, the coast and the offshore islands.
sightseeing and transfer flights are sold from a helipad near Taormina, with up to five passengers and a route that can pass over Etnaon request
67 km and 45 to 55 minutes by road, which a helicopter shortenson request
270 km and 2.5 to 3 hours by road, the transfer where a helicopter earns its feeon request
the island-hopping flights that clients ask about most often, quoted case by caseon request
a site cleared in advance, with the landing permission checked before the quoteon request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A landing outside an aerodrome needs a site that is cleared for it, which means a villa lawn, a hotel terrace or a yacht deck has to be confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Wind and heat set the schedule in the Mediterranean summer. A gusty day can stop a helicopter when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Over water, a twin-engine machine is the sensible minimum. For the Festino and the summer weekends, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for hill and coastal work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Palermo charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
LONG WEEKEND · IN AND OUT BY DIFFERENT DOORS
Palermo for the city, Catania for the way home
Farnborough - Palermo, then Catania - Farnborough, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 45 min out and 3 h back · 6 pax
A party that wanted the old city for two nights and Taormina for two more. Rather than drive 270 km, they flew in to Palermo and out of Catania. The aircraft crossed the island empty and waited, a modest line in the quote that bought back most of a day on the road. Slots at both airports were requested with the booking.
TAORMINA · THE OTHER AIRPORT WON
They asked for Palermo and landed at Catania
Biggin Hill - Catania, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 55 min · 5 pax
Palermo was the name everyone knew, but the hotel was in Taormina, which is about 270 km away by road and under an hour from Catania. Same aircraft, a similar flight and two hours less in the car. The only cost was asking where the hotel was before quoting.
FESTINO WEEK · THE CAR WAS THE PROBLEM
Four adults and the night of the procession
London Luton - Palermo, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 40 min · 4 pax
They landed in the afternoon of the 14th and wanted to be at Foro Italico for the fireworks. The handler had the car at the aircraft, and the driver knew which streets the procession would close. The flight was easy and the last mile was the work, so we planned the arrival around the route.
SEPTEMBER · COUS COUS FEST
A group for the festival at San Vito Lo Capo
London Stansted - Trapani, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 45 min · 6 pax
The party was bound for the western coast, so we landed at Trapani Birgi rather than Palermo. The field is a dual-use military airport with weekday published hours, so the arrival time was agreed in writing before the quote, and a second car was booked for the evening of departure.
A DOG ON BOARD · THE VET IN SICILY
Two adults and a labrador for a spring week
Southampton - Palermo, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 40 min · 2 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked the vet visit in Palermo with the return slot, and the hotel took the dog. It was settled in a single exchange of messages and not three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Palermo - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 40 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Palermo
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Palermo?
About 2 hours 40 minutes from Biggin Hill or Luton in a Phenom 300E, covering roughly 1,002 to 1,038 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Bristol or Cardiff allow about 2 hours 55 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 3 hours 20 minutes. Palermo is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands a little before eleven local time.
2How much does a private jet to Palermo cost?
From about £13,400 one way on a Phenom 300E out of Biggin Hill, and £13,800 from Luton. From Bristol, Cardiff, Birmingham or Manchester a midsize Citation XLS+ runs £17,700 to £18,800, and from Scotland allow £26,000 to £26,350. The July festival week and the weekends of high summer price above these figures.
3Which Palermo airport should a private jet use?
Falcone Borsellino (PMO / LICJ) for most trips to the capital. It is about 35 km from the city, has customs on site, handling is mandatory and slots are required. For Taormina and Etna use Catania (CTA / LICC), 107 nautical miles away, and for the far west Trapani Birgi (TPS / LICT), whose published hours are a weekday window. Boccadifalco is for very light aircraft only.
4When should I book a private jet to Palermo?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Festino in the middle of July, the weekends of high summer and the September couscous festival, allow four to six weeks. Slots, handler capacity and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another country.
5Can I fly on from Palermo to Catania, Taormina or Malta?
Yes. Catania is 107 nautical miles away, about 50 minutes in a PC-12, and Taormina is 67 km from Catania airport against about 270 km by road from Palermo. Malta is 161 nautical miles, a flight of about 50 minutes in a light jet, and Naples is 178. A helicopter covers the last stretch to Taormina, with the landing site agreed before the quote.
6Can I take my dog to Palermo on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Italy asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate issued for the trip and valid for ten days for entry. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
