Private jet charter in Bergen
A jet that leaves a London field after an early breakfast reaches Bergen before ten o'clock local time, and from the moment it lands the day depends on three things: what the cloud is doing over the fjords, how far the party wants to travel beyond the airport, and what the Norwegian border expects of the passengers, the bags and any animal on board. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around all three. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Bergen is a short flight with a long list of local conditions. Flesland has one runway and compulsory handling, Norway sits outside the EU although it is inside Schengen, and a dog has to enter through Oslo, so the decisions that matter are the date, the routing and who meets you at the apron.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bergen depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bergen?
Under two hours from every London field we use, with an hour of clock difference to add on arrival, because Norway keeps Central European time. At 308 to 630 nautical miles from the British fields in the table, Bergen is a comfortable light-jet sector from the whole of Britain, and from Aberdeen it is just over an hour in the air, the shortest sector in the table. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Flesland a little before ten local time, since Norway is an hour ahead of Britain. The airport is about 18 km from the centre and a car typically takes 25 to 35 minutes outside the rush hour, so a client who set out from central London at half past five can be sitting in a Bergen meeting room by eleven. Add the drive to the British airfield and the short processing at both ends and the journey from central London to central Bergen comes to roughly four hours, with no terminal queue in the middle of it.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer and a comfortable one: 1 hour 45 minutes in a CJ3+ from Biggin Hill and less from the north. The saving over a midsize cabin is real;
– A week of fjord walking, a fishing trip with rods and waterproofs, or a team with presentation kit takes the luggage past what a light-jet hold swallows, and then we quote a midsize jet beside it. Wet-weather gear and boots need more room than people expect;
– A heavy jet is worth it for a large party, for one aircraft that stays with you across several Scandinavian stops, or when Bergen is only the first leg of a longer itinerary.

Prices for the private jet flights to Bergen
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into Bergen Flesland. The festival fortnight in late May and early June, the summer weeks and the Christmas market weekends can sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Norway from the air: when a turboprop beats the road
Stavanger is 89 nautical miles from Bergen and Ålesund 144, so a Pilatus PC-12 covers either in under an hour, where the roads between the west-coast cities have to get round the fjords or cross them by ferry or tunnel. Oslo is 182 nautical miles away, about an hour in a PC-12, against 496 km of the Bergen Line by rail. Trondheim, at 259, is the longest of the domestic hops. Tromsø, at 685, is a real jet sector, the one clients choose when the trip carries on to the Arctic. Once the first landing in Norway is done, every one of these hops is a domestic flight with no border control.
Before you accept a Norwegian onward quote
– Check the runway at the far end. The airstrips of the inner fjords are short: Førde and Sogndal are listed at 940 and 943 metres, Florø at 1,199 and Stord at 1,460. A quote built on a jet that needs more than that will be revised once the real aircraft is chosen;
– Check whether the legs are one booking. Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo over three days cost less as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of going home between stops;
– If a dog or a cat is aboard, check the order of the stops. The animal has to enter Norway through Oslo, so the first landing is Gardermoen and Bergen comes second.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bergen:
Light jets, for a short crossing
Under two hours from London, so a light cabin is not a long sit. It suits up to five people with ordinary luggage, and the saving over a midsize jet shows plainly in the price table.
Midsize, for waterproofs, rods and a team's kit
Hiking boots, fishing gear, conference kit and a week of wet-weather clothing are what push a party past the light-jet hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that works in the air, and for itineraries that go on from Bergen to the Arctic or across Scandinavia rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the domestic coast: Stavanger, Ålesund and Oslo are an hour or less in the air, and the short runways of the fjord airstrips suit a turboprop better than a jet.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Hardangerfjord, the glaciers and a lodge with no runway. Where a helicopter may land away from an aerodrome is limited, so the site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Bergen sits at the western edge of the Scandinavian fleet, so outside the festival weeks there is often an aircraft already within an hour or so of Flesland, in Stavanger, Oslo or Aberdeen, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Bergen
One airport does the work. The others that turn up on a Norwegian quote are regional fields with short runways, and one of them is in Oslo for a reason that has nothing to do with the destination.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Bergen Airport, Flesland BGO / ENBR |
The answer for every jet trip. About 18 km from the centre, with a single runway, 17/35, of 2,990 by 45 metres, a control tower listed as manned round the clock, and customs on site as an airport of entry. Business aviation goes through Sundt Air Executive Handling, which lists full ground handling with customs and immigration, a passenger lounge and a crew lounge, and FCG Ops Bergen Handling is the second name in the listings. Handling is listed as compulsory and slots as required |
| Haugesund HAU / ENHD |
A primary airport about 105 km south of Bergen in a straight line, with a 2,120 m runway that takes light and midsize jets. It makes sense when the trip is really to the Haugesund coast, or as a diversion if the weather at Flesland closes in |
| Stord SRP / ENSO |
A regional airport at Leirvik, about 56 km south of Bergen in a straight line, with a 1,460 m runway. Fine for a turboprop or a small jet, and the place to land for Sunnhordland rather than for Bergen itself |
| Florø FRO / ENFL |
A regional field about 144 km north of Bergen in a straight line, with a 1,199 m runway. Turboprop and light-jet territory, used by anyone heading for the coast north of the Sognefjord and not for the city |
| Førde and Sogndal FDE / ENBL, SOG / ENSG |
Two inner-fjord airstrips with runways of 940 and 943 metres, about 125 and 142 km from Bergen in a straight line. Runways of that size are turboprop territory, and any quote that puts a jet on one deserves a second look |
| Oslo Gardermoen OSL / ENGM |
Not an alternative to Bergen, but a stop that pets make necessary. Animals arriving from outside the EU and the EEA, Britain included, may enter Norway only through Oslo Airport Gardermoen or the Storskog crossing at Kirkenes. Gardermoen is 182 nautical miles from Bergen, about an hour in a turboprop |
Four points settle most Bergen arrivals:
Choose the handler
Two names appear in the handling listings for Flesland. Sundt Air Executive Handling lists customs and immigration inside the terminal, a passenger and a crew lounge, catering, rental cars and de-icing, and FCG Ops Bergen Handling is the second. Handling is compulsory, so the choice is made together with the slot, and we ask the operator for its preference.
Hours, slots and noise
The tower is listed as manned round the clock, but slots are required and Sundt's listed desk hours run on weekdays from 07:00 to 22:00. A night arrival, a weekend departure or a late finish after a festival evening is therefore something we confirm in writing first. Night noise abatement is listed for the airport.
Border and passport
Norway is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passport control comes on arrival, normally in the handler's terminal. British passport holders need no visa for a short visit, with a passport issued less than ten years before entry and valid for three months beyond departure. Norway is not in the EU, so customs apply as well: goods up to NOK 6,000 (about £450) after more than 24 hours abroad are duty-free, and cash above NOK 25,000 (about £1,900) must be declared.
Car and late nights
The Bybanen light rail runs to the airport, but a private party takes a car, and the centre is about 18 km away. Give us the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only Flesland may wait at the wrong door. For the festival fortnight and the Christmas market weekends, book the late car together with the aircraft.

Border, passport and the way home
Because Norway is inside Schengen, the first landing is where the formalities happen, and a later hop to Stavanger or Ålesund is a domestic flight with no border control. Norway is not in the EU, however, so the customs side of the arrival is a real one: the quotas for food, alcohol and tobacco apply to everyone entering the country, and the value and cash limits above apply to every member of the party. The way home follows the British rules. The operator files the General Aviation Report with the British border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation, and any passenger of another nationality should check whether one is required for the return.

From the apron to Bryggen
Bergen is a compact harbour city, and you reach it from Flesland in about the time it takes to read a briefing. Bryggen, the old wharf front, is a World Heritage Site, the Fløibanen funicular climbs from the centre to Mount Fløyen, and Hurtigruten, the coastal express, starts its daily run north from the quay here. The distances that matter run outward, to the fjords and to the neighbouring coast cities.

Flying to Bergen with a dog or a cat
Norway asks more of a pet than most of Europe, because it sits outside the EU and runs its own rules, and one of those rules decides the route of the whole flight: an animal arriving from Britain must come in through Oslo. The animal still sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector this short most dogs sleep through it.

What Norway asks for:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, valid from 21 days after the primary vaccination is completed;
- A health certificate from an official veterinarian, following the EU model for animals from third countries, for each trip;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment with praziquantel or an equivalent product, given by a vet 24 to 120 hours before entering Norway and recorded in the certificate. Cats and ferrets are exempt;
- A rabies antibody blood test, unless the country of departure is treated as a listed country; the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, Mattilsynet, confirms the position for your dates and we put it in writing;
- Notice to Mattilsynet at least 48 hours before arrival, and entry through Oslo Airport Gardermoen or Storskog, with no other crossing allowed;
- No more than five animals on a non-commercial trip.
What catches owners out on the Bergen run
– The first landing is Oslo. Bergen cannot be the point of entry for an animal from Britain, so the aircraft lands at Gardermoen first, the animal and its papers are presented there, and the flight carries on to Bergen on a domestic leg of 182 nautical miles. It adds a stop and a few minutes on the ground, and it has to be in the quote from the start;
– The tapeworm treatment is needed once, for the way in. Norway wants it 24 to 120 hours before entry, so a dog sees a vet in Britain before leaving, and a direct flight home from Norway needs no second treatment unless the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one;
– A dog on a fjord holiday is an ordinary booking. Settle the hotel, the ferry and any helicopter before the quote, because each one has to accept the animal separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, a dog flying directly from Norway to Britain needs no tapeworm treatment; it is needed only if the dog has been elsewhere or the routing includes another country, and we confirm the entry point, the routing and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Bergen calendar: a festival city in a very wet place
Rain is the constant. The airport records about two metres of it a year, and the city station counts around 200 days with at least a millimetre, which is why the festivals below matter less to an aircraft than the weather over the fjords does. Add a short festival summer, a cruise season and a Christmas market, and the year has a clear shape.
Why a festival week costs more
Not the flying. The Scandinavian light and midsize fleet is large and Bergen sits on its western edge. What gets tight is Flesland's single runway and its slots, the handlers' apron and the good cars and rooms in a compact city, all in the same days. A booking made a fortnight before the festival can still be done, but it pays more, and it may mean an aircraft positioned from Oslo or Stavanger. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Bergen is an easy city to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two, weather permitting.
Ways to bring the Bergen price down
- Shift the dates by a few days where the diary allows. The week after the festival fortnight is calmer, and so are the weeks outside the summer cruise season;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Stavanger, Oslo or Aberdeen needs less positioning than one coming from the south of England, and on a sector this short positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved pays for the car, the hotel and a helicopter hour.
Types of flights
Bergen produces a different mix from the Alpine or Mediterranean destinations we cover, because it is a working harbour city with a fjord country behind it.
- Business travel to a port city, with shipping, energy and seafood meetings on fixed dates, a small team and a request to be back in Britain the same evening;
- Festival and city-break weekends in May and June and again at Christmas;
- Fjord trips that start with the jet and continue by helicopter or seaplane over the Hardangerfjord, the Sognefjord and the glaciers;
- Cruise and coastal-ship connections, since Bergen is a cruise port and the southern end of the Hurtigruten route;
- Onward flights to Tromsø and the north in the dark months, for the northern lights.
Bergen is a workable day trip. Wheels up at seven, on the ground a little before ten local time, and off again at six in the evening gives you about eight hours in the city and puts you back in Britain by a quarter to seven. The crew waits at the airport during the meetings and that waiting time is charged, yet the total is usually below two one-way charters, and we price the route both ways so you can compare.
Empty Legs
Some jets cross the North Sea with nobody aboard, on their way to the next job, and the operator will sell that leg cheaply rather than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. On the Bergen route they follow the festivals and the weekends, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bergen empty legs come from
– Festival and Christmas weekends. Aircraft bring guests in on the Friday and leave empty on the Sunday, and that evening leg back towards London or Aberdeen is the one most often offered;
– Summer fjord weeks. Operators bring parties for a week of walking and helicopter days and then reposition, and the legs that follow between Bergen, Stavanger and Oslo can be cheap;
– North Sea rotation. Operators positioning between Aberdeen, Stavanger, Bergen and Oslo put short legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
The corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, so a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. The trade is the usual one: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Bergen match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Bergen a helicopter or a seaplane is a way of seeing the fjords, not of crossing the city. The centre is small enough to cover on foot, and the places where flying changes the day are the Hardangerfjord, the Folgefonna glacier and Trolltunga to the south and east, and the Sognefjord to the north.
Fløyen, Bryggen, Herdla, Lysøen, Os and the Hardangerfjord; tours are sold by the seat, and a private flight is arranged on requestabout 40 minutes

in the inner harbour, a landing place for private use that needs the operator's permissionweekdays 08:00 to 22:00
Before you plan around a helicopter or a seaplane
– The seaplane harbour at Sandviken is a private-use landing place that needs the operator's permission and is not open to international flights. A seaplane is therefore the second leg of a trip and never the first: the jet lands at Flesland and the party transfers;
– Fjord weather sets the schedule. Cloud on the water can stop a helicopter or a seaplane on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a fjord flight needs a road alternative and, if you can spare it, a second day;
– The machines are small. The helicopters on the Bergen tours carry three to five passengers, so a party of six or more needs two aircraft or a different type, and for the festival fortnight and the summer weeks the helicopter should be booked together with the jet.
The machines on this ground are the single-engine Airbus H125 for the fjords and glaciers, the wider H130 for scenic and lodge transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Bergen charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning in Bergen and home for the evening
Biggin Hill - Bergen and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 45 min each way · 4 pax
Four people left a London airfield at seven, landed at Flesland a little before ten local time and were in a meeting room in the centre by half past eleven. The aircraft and crew waited at the airport rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. They left Bergen at six and were back in Britain before seven.
FESTIVAL FORTNIGHT · BOOKED EARLY
Six people for the International Festival
Farnborough - Bergen, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 40 min · 6 pax
A long weekend built around concerts at Grieghallen and a day on Lysøen. The booking went in six weeks ahead, which is what kept the slot and the car available in the busiest fortnight of the Bergen year. A booking made ten days out would have cost more and might have meant an aircraft brought from Oslo.
SHIPPING AND ENERGY · FIXED DATES
A delegation for two days of meetings
London Luton - Bergen, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 40 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the meetings and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, printed folders and a request for a car at the aircraft door. The handler arranged the passport check at the terminal, the customs allowance was explained to the group before they left Britain, and nobody had to stand in a queue.
FJORDS · THE HELICOPTER DAY
Five people and a flight over the Hardangerfjord
London City - Bergen, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 45 min · 5 pax
They had set aside a single day for the helicopter. The aircraft were booked together, the jet landed at Flesland on the morning of the flight, and a road plan was kept in reserve in case the cloud sat down on the water. It lifted by lunchtime, and the party flew the long loop over the glacier with an hour to spare.
A DOG ON BOARD · OSLO FIRST
Four adults and a spaniel for a long weekend
Southampton - Oslo - Bergen, Citation XLS+ · 4 pax + dog
The dog could not enter Norway at Bergen, so the aircraft landed at Gardermoen first for the animal check and carried on to Bergen. The tapeworm treatment was timed inside the 24 to 120 hour window before the way in, and the direct flight home from Norway needed none. The hotel agreed to the dog, and the whole plan was settled in a single exchange of messages.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Bergen - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bergen
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bergen?
About 1 hour 45 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and around 1 hour 35 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 560 to 601 nautical miles. From Manchester allow about 1 hour 30 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Aberdeen 1 hour 20 minutes or 1 hour 5 minutes. Bergen is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Bergen cost?
From about £8,450 one way on a light jet out of London City, and £8,550 from Biggin Hill. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough runs £8,300 to £8,750, a midsize cabin costs £10,050 from Birmingham and £11,100 from Bristol, and from Aberdeen a light jet starts at £5,300, from Edinburgh £6,250. The festival fortnight, the summer weeks and the Christmas market weekends can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Bergen?
Bergen Airport, Flesland (BGO / ENBR) for every jet trip. It is about 18 km from the centre, has a single 2,990 m runway, a tower listed as manned round the clock and customs on site, and business aviation is handled by Sundt Air Executive Handling and FCG Ops Bergen Handling. Slots are required and handling is compulsory. The regional airstrips at Førde and Sogndal have runways under 1,000 m and suit turboprops only.
4When should I book a private jet to Bergen?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Bergen International Festival in late May and early June, for 17 May, for the summer weeks and for the Christmas market weekends, allow four to six weeks. Slots, handling, apron space, hotels and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from Oslo or Stavanger.
5Can I fly on from Bergen to the fjords, Stavanger or Oslo?
Yes. Stavanger is 89 nautical miles and Oslo 182, so a Pilatus PC-12 does either in an hour or less, once the first landing in Norway is done. For the fjords a helicopter tour from Bergen takes about 40 minutes over the city and the Hardangerfjord, or about 90 minutes to Folgefonna and Trolltunga. A seaplane is available from Aurland on the Sognefjord, and the Bergen seaplane harbour is not open to international flights.
6Can I take my dog to Bergen on a private jet?
Yes, but the first landing must be Oslo. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Norway asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old, a health certificate, notice to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority at least 48 hours before arrival and a tapeworm treatment from a vet 24 to 120 hours before entering Norway. Animals from Britain may enter only through Oslo Gardermoen or Storskog. A direct flight home from Norway to Britain needs no tapeworm treatment for a dog, which is needed only if the dog has been in another country or the routing includes one, and cats are exempt.
