Private jet charter in Biarritz
From the London fields it is about an hour and a half to Biarritz, and the harder question is which side of the Spanish border the wheels should touch down on. Private Jets UK builds the charter around that answer. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Biarritz Pays Basque has a 2,250 m runway with an instrument approach to runway 27, a terminal built for private and charter jets where border control is available on request, and Spain's small San Sebastián airport lies about 32 km down the road. The real decisions are the airport, the cabin size and the week you choose.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Biarritz depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Biarritz?
1 hour 35 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, 2 hours 5 minutes from Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to allow for on arrival, because France keeps Central European time. At 467 to 783 nautical miles from the British fields we use, Biarritz is a comfortable light-jet sector from the south of England and a job for a bigger cabin from Scotland. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground in Biarritz at about half past nine local time. The airport is roughly 4 km from the centre, typically five minutes by car, and private passengers use a terminal of their own and reach the aircraft without a mandatory security screening, so the arrival is quick. A client who sets out from a central London office can be at a lunch table on the Basque coast before noon, and the whole trip comes to about three and a half hours, where a scheduled journey with a change often takes most of the day.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. An hour and a half in a CJ3+ or a Phenom is no hardship, and what you save against a midsize cabin pays for the car and the hotel;
– Past four, or with board bags, golf clubs and a case of Basque wine on the way home, we quote a midsize alongside so that you see both figures. A long surfboard bag can decide the aircraft before the seat count does, so tell us the length when you ask;
– A heavy jet earns its place when the party is large or when the same aircraft stays with you through several European stops. The runway is 2,250 m and the airport asks for prior approval only from aircraft with a wingspan above 36 m, so an ordinary large cabin is no problem; a VIP airliner is the case we check first.

Onward from Biarritz: when the aircraft wins and when the car does
San Sebastián's airport is only 14 nautical miles away on the chart and about 32 km by road, so nobody charters a flight for it: you land at whichever field suits the programme and drive. The onward flights worth paying for are the ones with a poor road. Pau is 50 nautical miles east, about 30 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12 against roughly an hour by motorway. Bordeaux is 92 nautical miles, about 40 minutes in the same aircraft against two hours on the road, and Bilbao, at 64, about 35 minutes. All of these are inside the Schengen area, so the first landing carries the formalities and the hops after it are free of passport control. One legal point deserves a warning: a British-registered aircraft cannot simply carry passengers between two French airports, so a French domestic hop such as Pau or Bordeaux is arranged with an EU operator or approved case by case, and we choose the operator accordingly.
Before you accept a Basque onward quote
– Who flies the leg. A flight between Britain and France is the ordinary case for a British operator, while a French domestic leg or a hop between Spain and France can need an EU operator or prior approval from the French authorities, and that is checked before the quote is written, not after it;
– Whether the legs are one booking. Biarritz to Bordeaux to Paris over three days costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Biarritz:
Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people
At an hour and a half this is a comfortable sector for a small party with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range, so the money is better spent on the car and the hotel than on a bigger cabin you will not fill.
Midsize, for board bags, golf clubs and a case of wine
The hold fills faster than the seats on the Basque run: surfboards in autumn, clubs in spring and summer, and whatever came home from the markets and the pintxos bars in between.
Super-midsize and large
For a team that wants to work in the air, a group travelling as one party, or a trip that carries on from the coast to Madrid or Lisbon. The 2,250 m runway takes all of these, and only a wingspan above 36 m needs the airport's approval.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops inside the region: Pau, Bordeaux and Bilbao are about three quarters of an hour or less in the air, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a villa garden above the coast, a loop along the beaches, or a short hop inland. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Biarritz sits between Bordeaux, Toulouse, Madrid and Paris, so a quote may name one of those cities as the positioning point for the aircraft. That is normal for a regional airport without a large based fleet, and it is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Biarritz
Four airports are worth discussing for a trip to the Basque coast, and a fifth, Bilbao, belongs to Spanish itineraries. Which one is right depends on where the programme is, not on the aircraft.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Biarritz Pays Basque BIQ / LFBZ |
The answer for most trips, about 4 km from the centre. Runway 09/27 is 2,250 m by 45 m, runway 27 has an ILS Category I approach, and the airport runs a terminal exclusively for private and charter jets with a VIP lounge, a crew lounge, concierge, car rental and airside vehicle access. Border control is available on request, passengers walk to the aircraft without a mandatory security screening, and Jet A1 comes from Air BP. Choose it for any programme that is on the French side, for a party that needs a larger cabin, or when the return must leave in the evening |
| San Sebastián EAS / LESO |
The Spanish alternative. The airfield stands at Hondarribia on the Bidasoa river that forms the border, about 32 km by road from Biarritz airport. It is short: the runway is 1,590 m, with a declared landing distance of 1,427 m because both thresholds are displaced, and the airport is closed overnight, with hours of 07:30 to 21:45 local time all year. Customs and immigration are available on request and need authorisation three hours ahead for aircraft with up to ten seats. A handling agent must be named on the flight plan. Choose it for a light or midsize jet and a programme in San Sebastián; larger cabins and late departures belong at Biarritz |
| Pau Pyrénées PUF / LFBP |
The inland alternative, with a 2,500 m runway, about 97 km and an hour from Biarritz by the A64 motorway. It has a business aviation handler with a VIP lounge and a crew room, Jet A1 from Air BP, handling from 05:00 to 22:45 and round the clock on prior request, and prior permission is needed 48 hours ahead. Choose it for the Pyrenees and the Béarn rather than for the coast, and we confirm customs and border arrangements before a first landing |
| Bordeaux Mérignac BOD / LFBD |
The big-airport alternative, about 208 km and two hours from Biarritz by road. The main runway is 3,100 m, the business aviation terminal run by AviaVIP offers a lounge, a crew lounge and border control on request, and the airport is open 24 hours with terminal hours of 07:00 to 21:00 and availability round the clock by arrangement. Choose it for the wine country, when the aircraft needs a long runway for a long-haul departure, or when Bordeaux is the real destination |
Four things to settle before a Biarritz landing:
The terminal and its services
Biarritz has a business aviation terminal dedicated to charter and private jets. It offers a VIP lounge with Wi-Fi, a crew lounge, concierge, taxis, car rental, free parking and airside vehicle access, with Delisky as the catering partner and helicopter transfers on request. We order catering and cars through the handler, who works to the flight plan and can adjust when it changes.
Hours, parking and permits
The French aeronautical information lists general aviation service from 09:00 to 21:00 local time in summer and from 09:00 to 18:00 in winter, with traffic services from 06:15 to 23:00 that can be extended for approved flights. Apron parking is restricted and needs prior permission 48 hours ahead. The French page shows no slot coordination for Biarritz. A British operator running a charter also needs the French permission that fits the flight, which it files and we track.
Border and passport
France is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the airport, through the terminal, and the police and customs are available on request, which means notice goes in with the flight plan. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system.
Car and the coast
Give us the terminal as well as the flight, so the driver waits where you come out. The airport is about 4 km from the centre of Biarritz, roughly five minutes, Bayonne is about ten minutes away and San Sebastián about forty. A late arrival needs planning, because traffic services close in the evening, so ask for the last hour the handler can support.

Border, passport and the road to Spain
The first landing in the Schengen area is where the formalities happen. At Biarritz they are arranged through the terminal on request, and the French aeronautical information lists the police as available on prior notice, so we send the details with the flight plan. After that the frontier is easy: the road to San Sebastián runs south along the coast and there is normally no passport check on the way, although a temporary border control can be introduced at short notice, so carry the passports. For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure.

From the apron to the Basque coast
Biarritz is a seaside town with an imperial past. The Hôtel du Palais began as the summer residence of Napoleon III, built in the middle of the nineteenth century, and is described as the only palace hotel on France's Atlantic coast. The surf arrived later and never left: the Côte des Basques is called the birthplace of European surfing, the Grande Plage is a family beach about 1.5 km long, and the pintxos bars of San Sebastián are within an hour's drive of the apron.
about 4 km, with the Grande Plage and the Hôtel du Palais at the end of the drivetypically 5 minutes
the historic river town where the Fêtes are held, a short run inlandabout 10 minutes
the fishing town further south along the coast, past Bidarttypically 25 minutes
the pintxos city across the Spanish borderabout 40 minutes
97 km by the A64 motorway, the gateway to the Pyreneesabout 1 hour
208 km by road, and the fast train also takes about two hoursabout 2 hours
Flying to Biarritz with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of a Basque trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector of an hour and a half most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because the certificate is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

What an EU country such as France asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before the animal travels;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing for the airport;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Biarritz run
– France does not ask for tapeworm treatment on the way in, only Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Biarritz, Anglet or Bayonne towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a flight that moves by a day can move the window out of reach;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be refused entry, so the certificate is checked line by line before the flight, not at the terminal;
– A surf week with a dog is an ordinary booking. Settle the villa or hotel before the quote, because each one has to accept the animal separately, and tell us if a day in San Sebastián is planned, so that we check the paperwork for the Spanish side too.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Biarritz calendar: a surf town with a festival habit
Biarritz does not have one season but three. Summer fills the beaches, September fills the cinemas and the swell, and the winter belongs to big Atlantic waves and a quiet town. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a festival weekend costs more
The aircraft are rarely the problem. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Biarritz is within reach of it. What gets tight is the apron, because parking at Biarritz needs prior permission 48 hours ahead, and the good hotel rooms and cars, which peak together. A booking made two weeks before the Fêtes de Bayonne or the film festival can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from Paris, Bordeaux or Spain, and that costs more. The same booking made four or five weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks a charter to Biarritz can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Biarritz price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The week after the Fêtes de Bayonne and the weeks between the summer festivals are calmer than the weekends themselves;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Paris, Bordeaux or Spain takes less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Check whether Bordeaux works as well. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, the sector to Bordeaux is priced about £1,050 lower than the one to Biarritz. The saving is real but the road from Bordeaux to the coast takes two hours, so let the location of the programme decide.
Types of flights
Biarritz produces a different mix from the Alpine or the Italian destinations we cover, because it is a leisure coast with a Spanish city on its doorstep and a small business trade of its own.
- Surf and sport trips, with board bags and wetsuits in the hold, concentrated in the autumn swells and the long summer;
- Golf weekends and spa breaks, from the Biarritz Cup in July to the thalassotherapy centres near Miramar beach;
- Gastronomy weekends that include San Sebastián, often landing at Biarritz and driving across the border, with a dog or without;
- Villa holidays for families in July and August, typically from the south of England;
- Film and festival trips, with San Sebastián in September and the Latin American cinema week in Biarritz;
- Business trips and incentive groups, a morning in town and a lunch by the sea, plus onward hops to Bordeaux, Paris or Madrid.
The day trip is the one to look at closely. Land at about half past nine, leave at five in the afternoon local time and you are back on the British side by about half past five in the evening, UK time, with about seven and a half hours on the ground in between. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Biarritz has no single event that creates them, so they come from the weekly rhythm of a leisure airport, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Biarritz empty legs come from
– Summer weekends. Aircraft that bring a family on the Friday and leave empty on the Sunday, or that arrive empty to collect a party on the Sunday, put a leg on the market towards Britain or Paris;
– Festival weeks. The Fêtes de Bayonne and the San Sebastián film festival produce one-way arrivals followed by a repositioning flight home, and an outbound leg on the Monday morning is the one most often offered;
– Spanish loops. Operators moving aircraft between Biarritz, Bilbao, San Sebastián and Madrid put short hops on the market, and those hops can be cheap.
Because the Basque corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Biarritz match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Biarritz a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The town is small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the coast, the foothills of the Pyrenees inland and the link with a jet that lands somewhere else. Two operators are based in Biarritz, Biarritz Hélicoptère and Procoptère Aviation, offering flights over the valleys and coasts of the Basque Country, and the airport terminal arranges helicopter transfers on request.
the beaches of Biarritz and the Côte des Basques, seen from the airtypically 30 minutes
50 nm in a straight line, against about an hour on the A64 motorway, for a party heading into the Pyreneesabout 34 minutes
92 nm in a straight line, against about two hours on the road, for a party that has to make a connectionabout 56 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a villa lawn or a hotel terrace before the quote is written, not after it;
– Weather sets the schedule. Atlantic fog, low cloud and strong winter wind can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– A flight across the border into Spain means a second set of permissions. Tell us the landing site at the other end when you ask for the quote, and book the helicopter together with the jet.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for scenic and mountain work, the wider H130 for villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Biarritz charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning meeting by the sea and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Biarritz and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 35 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground at about half past nine local time, in the meeting by eleven and back at Biggin Hill in the early evening. The aircraft and crew waited at the business aviation terminal rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. A long day, and it works.
SURF WEEK · BOARD BAGS IN THE HOLD
Six friends, six boards and a week of autumn swell
Bristol - Biarritz, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 30 min · 6 pax
The seat count said a light jet, the board bags said otherwise. We asked for the length of the longest bag before quoting, moved the quote up a class and kept the cabin for the people, not the equipment. The handler arranged cars with roof racks at the terminal, and the whole group was on the water the same afternoon.
FILM WEEKEND · THE AIRPORT WENT TO THE PROGRAMME
A party for San Sebastián, with a free evening
Farnborough - Biarritz, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 25 min · 6 pax
They had asked for San Sebastián because that is where the film festival is. The small airport on the Spanish side closes in the evening and has a short runway, and the return was planned for late, so we quoted Biarritz and arranged the car across the border. The drive added about forty minutes each way and removed the risk of finding the airport closed.
A BASQUE LOOP · ONE AIRPORT IN, ANOTHER OUT
Gastronomy trip that ended in Bilbao
London Luton - Biarritz, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 35 min · 8 pax
Eight people landed at Biarritz, spent three days between the coast, Bayonne and San Sebastián, and reached Bilbao by road transfer to fly home from there. Both legs were priced as one booking, so the aircraft was positioned once, and the open-jaw routing saved a long day of driving back to the first airport.
VILLA WEEK · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a labrador for a July week
Southampton - Biarritz, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 25 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment near Biarritz for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the villa took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Biarritz - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 30 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Biarritz
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Biarritz?
About 1 hour 35 minutes from London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 1 hour 30 minutes from Luton in a Phenom, covering roughly 489 to 527 nautical miles. From Bristol, Birmingham or Manchester allow about 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 5 minutes. France is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands at about half past nine local time.
2How much does a private jet to Biarritz cost?
From about £7,500 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, £7,600 from London City, and £7,450 to £7,900 in a Phenom from Luton or Farnborough. A midsize cabin runs £8,900 to £10,250 from the south and the Midlands, and from Scotland allow about £16,700. Summer weekends, the Bayonne festival days and the San Sebastián film weekends can price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use, Biarritz or San Sebastián?
Biarritz Pays Basque (BIQ / LFBZ) for most trips. It has a 2,250 m runway, a terminal for private and charter jets with border control available on request, and it is about 4 km from the centre. San Sebastián (EAS / LESO) is about 32 km away by road, has a 1,590 m runway and closes in the evening, so it suits a light or midsize jet and a programme on the Spanish side. Pau and Bordeaux are longer drives, about one hour and two hours.
4Do I need a visa or customs clearance for Biarritz?
Britain is outside Schengen and France is inside it, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival, through the business aviation terminal at the airport, where the police and customs are available on request and need notice. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure. The operator and our team handle the aircraft paperwork, including the French permission where it applies.
5Can I fly on from Biarritz to Bordeaux, Pau or Bilbao?
Yes. Pau is 50 nautical miles from Biarritz and about 30 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, Bordeaux is 92 nautical miles and Bilbao 64, each in well under an hour. San Sebastián is only about 32 km by road, so you land at one airport and drive. A French domestic hop is flown by an EU operator or approved case by case, so we choose the aircraft for the leg, and a helicopter can cover the last stretch if the landing site is agreed first.
6Can I take my dog to Biarritz on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and an EU country such as France asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used. France does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
