Private jet charter in Poznan

Poland's trade-fair city lies about 640 nautical miles from London, and a light jet covers the distance in roughly 1 hour 55 minutes, landing one hour ahead of British clocks and inside the Schengen area. Leave a London airfield at seven and you reach the apron at about ten local time, in good order for a stand at the fairgrounds, a meeting on the edge of town or a noon appointment under the Town Hall clock. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of those it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Poznan-Lawica has a single runway of 2,504 m, lies about 5 to 7 km from the centre and is open round the clock according to the directories we use, though a night slot rule applies after 22:00. Berlin, Warsaw and Wroclaw are each between two and three and a half hours away by road, and none of them is a better answer for a meeting in the city.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Poznan depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Stansted, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Poznan?

Under two hours from the closest London fields, with the clock moved forward by one hour, because Poland keeps Central European Time and changes it on the same dates as Britain. The sectors in the table run from 635 to 803 nautical miles. A light jet flies all of them without a stop, though from the north of England and from Scotland most passengers will prefer a bigger cabin. Each British field we use is listed below.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Take off from Stansted at seven in a light jet and you touch down at about ten in Poznan, after a flight of about 1 h 55 min. The airport lies on the western edge of the city, roughly 5 to 7 km from the centre depending on the source, so the transfer is short and the Old Market Square is a quick drive away. Add the run to the British airfield and the paperwork at either end, and central London to central Poznan comes to a little over four hours. On the way home the clock gives the hour back, which makes an early evening departure feel generous.

Light jet or midsize on a sector of under two hours

– Up to four people with cabin bags fit a light jet comfortably on a sector of this length, and the saving against a midsize cabin is real;

– Exhibition stand material, product samples, golf clubs or a large dog push the sensible quote up to a midsize jet, because the hold decides before the seats do;

– A heavy jet earns its price only for a delegation of ten or more, or when the same aircraft carries on from Poznan to Prague, Vienna or beyond.

Private jet flights from Poznan

Poznan sits halfway between Berlin and Warsaw, which is the whole of its commercial logic and most of its charter pattern. Berlin is closer than any other capital, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Krakow and Warsaw are domestic legs, and Prague, Dresden and Vienna are short business sectors across the border. Typical one-way prices:

Flying out of Poznan: when a short hop pays

Berlin Brandenburg is 127 nautical miles away, about 40 minutes in a Phenom, while the road is roughly 260 to 280 km and takes two and a half to three hours. Prague is 176 nautical miles and Dresden 143. That gap is the business case for a jet: two meetings in two countries on one day, with no change of plane and no motorway in between. Warsaw is 159 nautical miles, about 55 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, against about 300 km on the A2, and Wroclaw is only 82 nautical miles. A domestic leg has one condition. An aircraft registered abroad may be barred from selling a flight between two points inside Poland, which is the cabotage rule, so we check the operator's rights before a Warsaw, Wroclaw or Gdansk hop is quoted.

Before you accept an onward quote from Poznan

– Check the airport on the quote. Berlin means Brandenburg here and Warsaw means Chopin, and a quote that names a smaller field nearby changes the ground transfer and sometimes the price;

– Ask whether the leg stays inside Poland. A domestic hop can need a different operator from the one that flew you in, and the quote should say so before you pay;

– Ask whether the legs are one booking. A loop of Poznan, Berlin and Prague costs less as a single trip than as three charters, because the aircraft and crew stay with you.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h
Medium-sized jet (Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP)£3,000 - 3,700/h
Large medium-class jet (Challenger 300)£4,600 - 5,500/h
Large jet (Legacy 600)£4,900 - 5,800/h
Long-haul jet (Global 5000, G550, Falcon 7X)£5,800 - 8,800/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Poznan:

Light jets, for a quick and light trip

Under two hours in the air, so the class suits two to four people with cabin bags. A day at a plant or a morning at the fairgrounds does not call for range, and the money is better spent on a second crew day than on a bigger cabin.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for the team and the stand

A project team with laptops and printed material, or exhibitors with samples and display pieces, usually outgrows the light class. A midsize cabin gives the hold and the headroom that a week of trade-fair luggage needs.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

Meant for a delegation travelling as one party, for a board that wants to work in the air, and for itineraries that carry on from Poznan to Prague, Vienna or the Mediterranean instead of turning back.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h
Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The practical aircraft for the hops inside Poland: Wroclaw, Gdansk and Warsaw are about an hour or less, and over a distance like that a turboprop undercuts a jet by a wide margin.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

Helicopters

Used for the last stretch and not for the flight from Britain: the castle at Kornik, the palace at Rogalin, the cathedral city of Gniezno or a country hotel with a lawn and no runway. The landing site is agreed before the quote.

online private jet directory

That is a small part of what we can offer. Poznan lies between the Berlin and Warsaw fleets, so an aircraft is often standing within an hour of the airport, in Berlin, Warsaw, Wroclaw or Prague, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Poznan

One airport does the job. The rest of this list is here for the quote that names another field and for the trip whose real destination is Berlin or Warsaw and not Poznan at all.

Airport What it gives you
Poznan-Lawica Henryk Wieniawski Airport
POZ / EPPO
The right answer for nearly every trip to the city. It lies on the western side of Poznan, about 5 km from the centre by most directories and about 7 km by the airport's own figure, and has one runway, 10/28, 2,504 metres long, with an instrument landing system. The directories we use list it as open round the clock, as an airport of entry with customs, and as a place where handling is compulsory. General aviation shares the field with scheduled flights, cargo and training, and a Polish aviation-press report places the general aviation desk in the older terminal, away from the passenger terminal used by scheduled flights. Directories list several handlers, among them LS Airport Services, Euro Jet, Excel Handling and the General Aviation Airbase
Berlin Brandenburg
BER / EDDB
The nearest major alternative, 127 nautical miles from Poznan, or roughly 260 to 280 km and two and a half to three hours by road on the A2. It makes sense when the meeting is in Berlin, when the aircraft is based there, or when one leg of a combined trip ends in Germany. It is not a back door to Poznan
Warsaw Chopin
WAW / EPWA
Roughly 300 to 315 km from Poznan, about three to three and a half hours on the A2, and 159 nautical miles by air. It suits a client whose day is in the capital and whose Poznan stop is a single appointment. Chopin works to its own night slot rules, so the arrival time matters more there than at Poznan
Wroclaw Copernicus
WRO / EPWR
82 nautical miles away and about 185 km by road, a little over two hours. The airport describes a general aviation entrance where passport and customs checks are made in a VIP lounge, which can help when the trip begins in Lower Silesia and finishes in Wielkopolska. For a meeting in Poznan, fly into Poznan
Poznan-Krzesiny
EPKS
An air force base in the south-east of the city and not an airport for charters. Pilots are known to confuse it with Lawica on the approach, which is one more reason to keep the airport name on every quote and every handling request

Four points settle most Poznan arrivals:

Choose the handler

Directories list LS Airport Services, Euro Jet, Excel Handling and the General Aviation Airbase at Poznan, and one directory marks handling as compulsory. The coordinator's local rule tells general and business aviation operators to arrange night slots through the handling agent. We do not leave it to chance. We confirm in writing which company receives the aircraft before you pay, and we give the car company the handler's name as well as the flight number, so the driver waits at the right door.

Hours, slots and the night window

The directories list the airport as open round the clock and as coordinated. The airport coordinator's local rule makes that precise: slot coordination applies between 22:00 and 06:00 local time all year, every operator in that window needs a slot, and the number of night operations is capped. Outside those hours the coordinator only collects data. A flight that slips into the night needs a night slot from the airport duty manager, so we plan the return to leave well before 22:00 and keep the handler on the phone.

Border and passport

Poland is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passports and customs are checked on arrival. A Polish aviation-press report describes the Border Guard being told the passengers' nationalities in advance and the passport check taking place at the general aviation desk. The same report gives the desk hours as 06:00 to 24:00, with night arrivals by arrangement, and we confirm both with the handler. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for at least three months beyond the day of departure. The Entry/Exit System takes a photograph and fingerprints on a first entry. A charter run by an operator from outside the EEA is covered by the Polish authority's permission procedure, which the operator files.

Weather and the car

Poznan has cool winters and warm summers, and freezing fog or snow can slow a morning departure between December and February, so a de-icing stop belongs in the winter plan. Parking near the fairgrounds is tight and costs extra on fair days, according to a local accommodation provider, so a driver who knows the hall entrance matters. Book a car for the arrival hour, and tell the driver the handler and the desk, not just the airport.

Border, passport and the way home

The first landing in Poland is where the formalities happen. After that, a drive to Gniezno or a hop to Prague, Dresden or Berlin is free of border control, because Germany and the Czech Republic are also in Schengen. The way home runs the other way. Britain treats the aircraft as arriving from abroad, so a General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and passengers pass the border at the British airfield. Visitors who need no visa for Britain still need an Electronic Travel Authorisation unless they are British or Irish citizens. We file the paperwork. You bring passports that are in date, you declare cash above the reporting limit and anything that may be prohibited or subject to duty, and you remember that the EU rules on bringing in meat and milk products apply to what you carry in.

From the apron to the Old Market Square

Poznan stands on the Warta, in the Greater Poland region (Wielkopolska), where the Polish state took shape. About 536,000 people live in the city and more than a million in the wider area, and some 130,000 of them are students, with Adam Mickiewicz University the third largest in the country. The centre is the Old Market Square, a ring of Renaissance tenements and guild houses around a Renaissance Town Hall that houses the city's history museum. Every day at noon, after the clock strikes and a bugle call sounds, two mechanical goats come out on the tower and butt heads. The tradition goes back to a clock of the middle of the sixteenth century, and a crowd gathers beneath it a few minutes early. East of the centre, on an island in the Warta, lies Ostrow Tumski, one of the earliest settlement centres on Polish land. Mieszko I, the first historical ruler of Poland, built one of his main strongholds in Poznan, and the cathedral begun after his baptism, regarded as the first in the country, stands on the island.

It is also a city that trades. Poznan International Fair is described as the biggest industrial fair in Poland. Its grounds on Glogowska Street have more than 100,000 square metres of covered space, and Allegro, Enea and Zabka have their headquarters here. Volkswagen, GlaxoSmithKline and Amazon have operations in or near the city, and it ranks among the most prosperous in Poland. Many of the private jet requests that come from Britain are therefore about a stand, a supplier or a plant, not a hotel.

Poznan-Lawica to the centre
on the western edge of the city; city transit lines 159 and 222 stop at the arrivals area and reach Poznan Glowny railway station in about 20 minutes, and taxis and ride-hailing cars work from the airport
bus about 20 minutes
Poznan to Gniezno
the first historical capital of Poland, with a Gothic cathedral that holds the Romanesque Gniezno Doors and the coffin of St Adalbert; trains leave Poznan Glowny hourly
about 50 km east, train about 30 minutes
Poznan to Kornik
the neo-Gothic castle with the Moorish Room and the oldest and largest arboretum in Poland, to the south
about 25 km, car about 30 minutes
Poznan to Rogalin
the Baroque Raczynski palace and its gallery, with the oaks named Lech, Czech and Rus, said to be about 800 years old
about 25 km, car about 30 minutes
Poznan to central Berlin by road
the A2 motorway, which is why a jet to Berlin saves a long afternoon
about 280 km, 2 h 30 min to 3 h
Poznan to Warsaw by air
159 nm by Pilatus PC-12, against about 300 km by road
about 55 minutes

The fair, the lake and the first capital

Poznan International Fair (MTP) is the reason many business jets land here. The grounds on Glogowska Street run to more than 100,000 square metres indoors, with a further 35,000 outdoors, and the programme stretches across the year: construction in late January or February, furniture in February or March, motor shows in April, food and catering in October. Exhibitors and buyers arrive from many countries, and for a visitor with stand material or samples a private cabin avoids the weight and baggage limits of a scheduled flight to Berlin or Warsaw and a long drive from there.

Lake Malta is the other half of the city's leisure side. It is an artificial lake from the middle of the last century, about 2.2 km long, with one of the oldest man-made rowing courses in Europe, and it has hosted canoe sprint world championships. Around it lie a year-round artificial ski slope, an ice rink, thermal baths, a zoo and the Maltanka children's train, and a walk round the lake takes about 5.6 km. For a client who wants a quiet morning between meetings it is the nearest sort of escape.

Gniezno is the day trip that explains the region. It lies about 50 km east of Poznan and was the first historical capital of Poland, where kings were crowned in the cathedral. Combined with Kornik and Rogalin to the south, it fills two quiet days of the kind that private clients ask for and scheduled flights rarely make possible.

Flying to Poznan with a dog or a cat

Poland is easy on pets once the papers are right, and the flight itself is the simple part. The animal sits in the cabin beside you, never in a hold, and on a sector of under two hours most dogs and cats settle and sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because it is valid for entry for only ten days from the day it is issued.

private flight with animals

What Poland, as an EU country, asks for:

  • An ISO microchip that can be read with a standard scanner, fitted before or at the same time as the rabies vaccination. A vaccination dated before the chip does not count;
  • A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with the 21-day wait observed after it and still valid on the day of entry;
  • An Animal Health Certificate issued by an official veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate, together with the owner's declaration that the journey is not commercial. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU. The Polish Veterinary Inspectorate lists the same elements: identification, a valid rabies vaccination and a health certificate;
  • No more than five animals per traveller, entering through a travellers' point of entry. A Polish aviation-press report places the passport check at the general aviation desk, and we confirm in writing with the handler where the animal is presented;
  • No tapeworm treatment on the way in, since Poland is not among the countries that ask for it. For dogs returning to Britain, a treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.

What catches owners out on a Wielkopolska trip

– A long weekend of Gniezno, Kornik and Rogalin is easy to stretch. The certificate is valid for entry for ten days from the day it is issued, so the vet visit in Britain is tied to the outbound flight and not to the end of the stay;

– The tapeworm treatment for a dog is a vet appointment you book in Poland near the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours, and a Monday morning flight needs a visit that falls before the weekend closes the clinics. We suggest booking one in Poznan and not in a village on the Kornik road;

– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination dated before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right papers may be refused entry or sent back at the owner's expense.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

The Poznan calendar: from the fair to the Christmas market

Poznan's year is built from the trade-fair calendar, a crowded June and a Christmas season of its own. Which of them you are flying for decides the date, the hotel and the length of the stay far more than the aircraft does.

Late January to February
Budma, the construction fair, takes over the fairgrounds in late January or February and the furniture fair follows in February or March. Cold weather and a purely business crowd, with the hotels near the grounds the first to fill
April
The Poznan Motor Show and the automotive meetings at the fairgrounds, while the Old Market Square puts its outdoor tables out again. Short stays for the trade, often by one or two people
June
The month with the most festivals. The Malta Festival of experimental theatre runs for about nine days, Ethno Port brings world music to the Imperial Castle, the Pyrkon fantasy and gaming convention fills the fairgrounds, and the Enter jazz festival plays outdoors by Lake Strzeszynskie. Couples and groups of friends, with rooms that go early
July to August
Summer on and around Lake Malta, with rowing and canoe regattas, the ski slope open all year and long evenings in the Old Market Square. Rooms are easy to find, and quiet weeks suit a longer break with a day each at Gniezno, Kornik and Rogalin
September
Woodworking machinery and sport shooting fairs use the grounds, and the mild weather suits the palace park at Rogalin. Small groups on the road for work, with a free afternoon
October
Polagra, the food and catering fair, is the biggest trade event of the autumn, and hotels near the grounds raise their rates for its days. Delegations of three to six, often flying in and out the same week
November
An industry and automation fair is held at the grounds. On the 11th Poznan celebrates St Martin with a parade on St Martin Street and the protected local croissants filled with white poppy seed. Weekend breaks, with short days and the first frosts
December
Betlejem Poznanskie, the Christmas festivities, include three markets. Frost and fog are more frequent, and a de-icing stop is part of the plan. Families and friends for a long weekend

When Poznan does get tight

Aircraft are rarely the scarce item here. Rooms are. The days around a large fair are the clearest case, because a local accommodation provider reports that hotels near the grounds sell out weeks ahead and raise their prices two or three times, so book the hotel first and the jet second. June puts the same pressure on the centre with its festivals. The condition that can change a plan on any date is winter weather, so we allow time for de-icing and keep Berlin in mind as a second airport.

Ways to bring the Poznan price down

  • Move the dates by a day or two if the diary allows. A midweek flight outside a large fair is calmer than the opening day of Budma or Polagra, and the same goes for a June weekend;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already stands in Berlin, Warsaw, Wroclaw or Prague costs less to bring to Poznan than one flown out of Britain, and on a sector this short the positioning is a visible part of the invoice;
  • Take the light jet only when the party and the bags are small. Three people with cabin bags save real money in a CJ3+, while six people with trade-fair material do not, and the quote that looks cheap on paper is often the one that changes.

Types of flights

Poznan produces a different mix from the Baltic coast or the Alps, because the city is first of all a place to trade and only second a place to visit.

  • Trade-fair travel, with exhibitors and buyers arriving for a specific hall and a fixed day, often in a party of two to six;
  • Business visits to plants, logistics centres and head offices in the city and the surrounding region, usually with a request to be home the same evening;
  • Combined trips that take in Berlin, Prague or Warsaw, flown as a single booking;
  • City breaks around the Old Market Square, the goats and Ostrow Tumski, from the June festivals to the Christmas market, usually four people or fewer;
  • Heritage days in Gniezno, Kornik and Rogalin, often arranged around a night at a country hotel;
  • Day trips from London, which at under two hours each way are an easy long day.

The day trip is simple. Wheels up at seven, on the ground in Poznan at about ten local time, and away again at six in the evening gives you around eight hours in the city and puts you back in Britain at about seven, British time. The crew waits for you and that wait is charged, yet the total usually comes in below two one-way charters, and we price both ways so you can compare.

Empty Legs

Some jets cross the North Sea with nobody aboard, repositioning for their next job, and the operator will sell that seat-free leg cheaply rather than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. The Poznan supply follows the fair calendar and the working week.

Where Poznan empty legs come from

– Trade-fair weeks. An aircraft brings a delegation in at the start of a fair and leaves empty a day or two later, and the leg back towards London, Berlin or Prague is the one most often offered;

– City-break weekends. Parties arrive on the Friday, the aircraft goes home empty and an outbound leg appears on the Friday or Saturday;

– Central European rotation. Operators positioning between Berlin, Warsaw, Prague and Gdansk put short regional legs on the market, and a short hop can be very cheap.

Because Poznan is quieter than the busiest London corridors, a client who can name a few days has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. The cost of the saving is the usual one: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish if the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Poznan match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Poznan a helicopter is a tool for the edges of the journey and not the middle. The centre is compact and the airport only a few kilometres from it, so a rotor adds little in town. It changes the day outside the city, at the castle in Kornik, the palace in Rogalin and the cathedral at Gniezno, or at a country hotel with its own lawn.

Poznan to Gniezno
the first capital and its cathedral lie east of the city, about 50 km by road
about 53 km in a straight line, landing site on request
Poznan to Kornik and Rogalin
the castle and arboretum at Kornik and the palace and oaks at Rogalin lie to the south, each about 25 km from the city
about 27 km and 26 km in a straight line, on request
A country hotel with a lawn
a landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent
on request

Before you plan around a helicopter

– Rotary flight is limited by where it may set down. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a palace park or a hotel lawn before the quote is written;

– Heritage sites have their own rules. A castle or a protected park may refuse a landing outright, and a nearby field with a short drive is often the sensible answer;

– For the June festivals and the large fair weeks, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.

The helicopters on offer are the Airbus H125 for short scenic work, the wider H130 for hotel and estate landings, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin engine is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Poznan charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What this corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK

A day at a supplier and home for dinner

London Stansted - Poznan and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 55 min each way · 4 pax

Four people left a London airfield at seven, landed at about ten local time and drove straight to a supplier on the edge of town. The aircraft waited with its crew, which appeared as a line in the quote, and the total was still below two one-way charters. Home in time for a late dinner. A long day, but an easy one.

TRADE FAIR · TWO DAYS

Exhibitors with stand material for the fairgrounds

Farnborough - Poznan, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 6 pax

Six colleagues and the display pieces they would otherwise have shipped flew out on the Tuesday ahead of the opening, with the car waiting at the handler's door and the hotel near the grounds booked first, as it has to be in fair weeks. The hold, not the seats, chose the aircraft. They flew home on the Thursday evening.

JUNE WEEKEND · FRIENDS

Six friends for the festivals and the Old Market Square

Manchester - Poznan, Citation XLS+, about 2 h · 6 pax

The hotel was booked inside the old centre before the aircraft was, and the party was standing under the Town Hall clock before noon to watch the goats. A day was spent at the lake, and the party flew home on the Monday morning.

WEEKEND AWAY · A DOG ON BOARD

A family and a retriever, four days in Wielkopolska

Birmingham - Poznan, Citation XLS+, about 2 h · 5 pax + dog

The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the tapeworm treatment for the return had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked a vet in Poznan rather than in the countryside, so the treatment did not depend on a long drive.

HERITAGE TOUR · TWO DAYS

Two couples, Gniezno, Kornik and Rogalin

London Luton - Poznan, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 4 pax

A flight on the Thursday, the cathedral at Gniezno the same afternoon, then the castle at Kornik and the palace at Rogalin on the Friday, with a car and driver from the airport. The jet waited at Lawica and took the party home on the Saturday. A quiet trip with the programme built around the road.

EMPTY LEG · MIDWEEK WEST

A jet already going your way

Poznan - Biggin Hill, Citation CJ3+ empty leg, about 1 h 55 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a team in on Monday and was heading home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a midweek departure.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Poznan

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Poznan?

About 1 hour 55 minutes from London Stansted, London City or Biggin Hill in a light jet, and 1 hour 50 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 635 to 681 nautical miles. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours in a midsize cabin, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes. Poznan is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands at about ten local time.

2How much does a private jet to Poznan cost?

From about £9,100 one way on a light jet out of London Stansted, and £9,250 from London City. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough runs £9,400 to £9,700, a midsize cabin costs £12,350 from Birmingham and £13,050 from Bristol, and from Scotland allow £16,450 to £17,100. The opening days of a large trade fair and the June festivals can price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use for Poznan?

Poznan-Lawica (POZ / EPPO), on the western edge of the city, for almost every trip. It has one 2,504 m runway, and the directories we use list it as open round the clock, as an airport of entry with customs, and with compulsory handling. Berlin Brandenburg, Warsaw Chopin and Wroclaw are each between two and three and a half hours away by road and matter only when the meeting is there. Poznan-Krzesiny is an air force base and not an airport for charters.

4Are slots needed at Poznan-Lawica, and what happens after 22:00?

Slot coordination at Poznan applies between 22:00 and 06:00 local time all year. In that window every operator needs a slot from the airport coordinator, the number of night operations is capped, and a flight delayed into the night needs a night slot from the airport duty manager. General and business aviation operators arrange it through the handling agent. Outside those hours the coordinator's rule provides only for data collection, and we confirm with the handler that a daytime movement needs nothing more.

5What happens on arrival in Poznan, and is any permission needed?

Poland is in Schengen and Britain is not, so passengers pass passport control and customs on arrival; a Polish aviation-press report describes the check being made at the general aviation desk, and we confirm the place and the hours with the handler. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180. A commercial charter run by an operator from outside the EEA falls under the Polish aviation authority's permission procedure, which asks for the application at least three working days ahead, and the operator files it; we confirm that it is in hand.

6Can I take my dog to Poznan on a private jet?

Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Poland, as an EU country, asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment. We confirm in writing where the animal is presented at the border check.
