Private jet charter in Guinea-Bisau
Few places on the Atlantic coast of Africa sit so far from the usual charter map as Guinea-Bissau: 2,588 nautical miles from London, a nonstop sector for an Embraer Praetor 600 and a fuel stop for anything lighter, with one international airport at the end of it. A private jet makes the distance easy. The harder part is the ground: a visa that British passengers arrange before they fly, a permit and handler booked in advance, and a country where services are thin outside the capital. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Guinea-Bissau that is permits, a handler, a car and a hotel in Bissau, and we say plainly where the choices end.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Guinea-Bissau depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Praetor 600 to Bissau, nonstop, and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Guinea-Bissau?
Guinea-Bissau keeps Greenwich Mean Time all year and does not change its clocks, so Bissau matches London in winter and is an hour behind in British Summer Time. These are the sectors to Bissau on a Praetor 600, gate to gate:
2,588 nautical miles, the closest of the London fields that suit a long sector, and the basis for the price at the top of the pageabout 6 h 05 min
2,573 nautical miles, the usual choice for Surrey, Hampshire and the Thames Valleyabout 6 h 05 min
2,673 nautical miles, the main departure for the north of Englandabout 6 h 15 min
2,815 nautical miles, the main Scottish departure, with the longest sector of the fourabout 6 h 35 min
Why the aircraft decides the plan
The Praetor 600, the Challenger 605 and everything larger fly London to Bissau in one hop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E and a midsize jet such as the Citation XLS+ have ranges of roughly 2,000 nautical miles, so they stop in Gran Canaria first, which typically adds about an hour.
The second leg from Gran Canaria is 1,002 nautical miles, which a light jet can fly but only with a light load. From Biggin Hill a Phenom 300E through the Canaries takes about 7 h 10 min gate to gate and prices at about £32,250. A Citation XLS+ on that routing takes about 7 h 30 min and comes to about £40,150, only £1,350 below the £41,500 for a Praetor 600 that flies straight through and arrives more than an hour earlier.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Prices for the private jet flights to Guinea-Bissau
Typical private jet charter prices from Britain to Bissau, cheapest first. The entry price is Biggin Hill to Bissau on a Praetor 600, the smallest class that crosses without a stop. The other rows show the aircraft we would usually propose from each airfield:

Global 6000 up to 13 |
from £75,300 |
Two things worth knowing about these figures
– The departure airfield moves the price less than the aircraft does. Manchester costs about £1,250 more than Biggin Hill on the same Praetor 600, while the step from a Praetor to a Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £11,600;
– A one-way price assumes the aircraft flies home empty. For a stay of several days the aircraft either waits at Bissau, with parking and the crew's hotel as lines of their own, or flies back and returns for you. Permits, handling and fuel are quoted separately, and that is where two quotes for the same trip usually differ.
Private jet flights within Guinea-Bissau and to its neighbours
The country is small, and most of it hangs off the capital: the Bijagos islands lie 39 nautical miles from Bissau at Bubaque, and Dakar, Banjul and Conakry are each a short hop along the coast. These are the sectors we are asked for:
| Route | Aircraft | Flight time | Price, one way |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bissau - Bubaque 39 nm / 72 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 40 min | from £3,100 |
| Bissau - Banjul (The Gambia) 109 nm / 202 km |

about 55 min | from £3,100 |
| Bissau - Conakry (Guinea) 191 nm / 354 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 10 min | from £3,100 |
| Bissau - Dakar (Senegal) 194 nm / 359 km |
Pilatus PC-12 NGX up to 9 |
about 1 h 15 min | from £3,100 |
| Bissau - Freetown (Sierra Leone) 254 nm / 470 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 05 min | from £6,800 |
| Bissau - Praia (Cape Verde) 512 nm / 948 km |
Citation XLS+ up to 9 |
about 1 h 40 min | from £9,550 |
Domestic sectors and the neighbours
– A British aircraft does not usually carry passengers between two points inside Guinea-Bissau. That is cabotage, which most countries reserve for local operators. The Bubaque airstrip is listed with a grass runway of about 1,200 metres, so we confirm the aircraft, the surface and the landing permit with the operator before we price it, and in the dry season many visitors simply take the boat;
– We found no verified data for the airstrips at Cufar, Gabu and Bafata, so we do not plan passenger flights to them;
– Dakar, Banjul, Conakry, Freetown and Praia are separate countries with their own permits and entry rules, which are arranged before departure.
We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Guinea-Bissau:
Turboprops
For the hops to Bubaque, Banjul or Dakar, never for the journey from London.
Light and midsize jets
These need a fuel stop in Gran Canaria and suit three or four people with soft bags.
Super-midsize
The first class that reaches Bissau in one hop. The Praetor 600 sets the entry price.
Heavy jets
For a delegation or a family with staff. These fly from anywhere in Britain without a stop.
Ultra-long range
Save a little time and carry up to 16 people.

Business aviation airports in Guinea-Bissau
Guinea-Bissau has one airport that takes international traffic, and every charter from Britain is planned to it. A logistics assessment counts about 25 airstrips in the country, of which only a few can be used, and we found no verified customs or handling data for any of them:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Bissau Osvaldo Vieira International OXB / GGOV |
in the Bissalanca district, about 9 km north of the centre of Bissau | The only international airport of the country. One asphalt runway, 03/21, of 3,200 metres (10,499 feet) by 45 metres (148 feet), at an elevation of 128 feet, with an instrument landing system and a VOR. Listed with customs and airport of entry status, Jet A-1, fire category 7 and no slots required. Handling is listed as not mandatory, but we always book an agent |
| Bubaque BQE / GGBU |
on Bubaque island in the Bijagos archipelago, about 70 km south of Bissau | A 1,210 metre runway, 17/35, listed as grass or unpaved. A landing permit is listed as required, with a local receiving party named in the application. We found no customs status or handler, so an international party clears at Bissau first |
| Cufar, Gabu and Bafata GGCF, GGNL, GGBF |
Cufar near Catio in the south, Gabu (Nova Lamego) and Bafata in the east | A logistics assessment lists Cufar with a 1,600 metre asphalt runway and Gabu with a 2,100 metre unpaved runway on which houses have been built. We found no runway data for Bafata, and none of the three has verified customs or handling |
Bissau has no business aviation terminal that we can name. A flight-support directory lists Jetmate Aviation as supervising agent and eight further trip-support companies, and handling is described as provided through authorised local companies, with airside transport, crew hotels and settlement of airport charges. An older assessment lists no catering at the airport, so we bring catering from the departure airport or arrange it in town.
Four points settle most Bissau arrivals before a quote goes out:
Permit: ask early
A foreign aircraft needs a landing permit from the civil aviation authority, and one handler guide gives no fixed lead time beyond saying that short-notice permits can be arranged. We start the application as soon as the route is agreed. Overflight permits are listed as valid for 72 hours.
Hours on the ground
The tower is listed from 07:00 to 19:00 UTC, and the airport administration from 08:00 to 16:00 UTC. An older assessment asks for 72 hours' notice outside the published hours. Customs and immigration are listed round the clock, but we plan to land inside the tower hours.
Fuel
Jet A-1 is listed as available, and an uplift is arranged through the flight-support team, with a fuel release issued once the supplier confirms.
Crew and papers
Crew visas are listed as issued on arrival through the immigration service, usually valid for up to 72 hours. Aircraft certificates and a crew and passenger list go with the permit application.
Arriving from Britain: visa, yellow fever and the Foreign Office advice
British passengers cannot simply turn up with a passport: Guinea-Bissau requires a visa, and the health papers and the aircraft permit are separate checks.
British citizens must have a visa to visit. The Foreign Office points to the Guinea-Bissau Embassy in Paris, and says that embassies in neighbouring countries, including Senegal, may also issue visasarrange before you fly
expiry date at least six months after the day of arrival, and not reported lost or stolencheck the expiry
a certificate proving yellow fever vaccination is required to enterbring the certificate
The Foreign Office advice, as published
The Foreign Office does not list a region of Guinea-Bissau to avoid, and states that no travel can be guaranteed safe. It describes the country as politically unstable and asks visitors to follow local authorities and local media, to avoid military installations, government buildings, demonstrations and large public gatherings, and to stay at home or in the hotel if security in an area is uncertain.
It adds that pickpocketing and bag and phone snatching are common in Bissau, that mines remain in parts of the country outside the capital and visitors should stay on paved roads, and that heavy rain from June to October makes roads difficult. Medical facilities are described as extremely limited, so insurance with medical evacuation matters more here than in most places. We ask clients to read the full text before they accept a quote.
Clearance and the way home
On arrival, passengers and crew clear immigration and customs at Bissau, which is listed as an airport of entry.
Coming home is a flight into Britain. A General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation. Passengers who hold another passport should check their own entry rules before they fly.

Which airport for which part of Guinea-Bissau
The answer is Bissau for nearly everything, with the places below reached from it:
the capital, the port, the old Portuguese fortress of Sao Jose da Amura and the Bandim marketBissau
an archipelago of about 88 islands and islets, of which twenty are populated year-round, reached by boat or by the Bubaque airstripBissau, then boat or local flight
the historic fort town on the Cacheu river in the north-west, known for its birdlifeBissau, then by road
the interior towns of the eastBissau, then by road in the dry season
Bissau and the Bijagos: what our clients go for
Bissau is the capital and the only airport we can plan a business jet to, so official, business and development visits begin and end there.
The Bijagos are the other reason to come. The archipelago is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and home to the Bijagos people, known for ancestor shrines, masks and coming-of-age ceremonies. Orango Grande is known for its saltwater hippos and Joao Vieira and Poilao for turtles. Lodges on Bubaque, Rubane and Orango offer sport fishing, and tourism stays small. A fast boat from Bissau to Bubaque takes between 90 and 150 minutes in the dry season, so a party that wants the islands usually flies to Bissau and continues by boat or, where an operator agrees, to the Bubaque airstrip.
The Bissau year: the dry months and the rains
The year divides into a dry and a wet half, and the choice of month matters more here than in most of West Africa:
the dry season and the usual window for the country. Bissau is sunny with highs of about 32 to 33 degrees in December and January, and the Bijagos are at their best from December to Aprilhigh season
the rains. Roads turn muddy and in places impassable, storms are heavy, and August and September are the wettest, with rain on roughly three days in fourwet
the shoulder months at either end of the dry season, when the weather is workable but less settledshoulder
The Bissau calendar: Carnival and the dry-season window
Few dates drive a flight plan to Guinea-Bissau, and we list only the ones that do:
What an event does to a flight plan
The festival parades fill the streets of Bissau, so we request rooms and a car together with the landing permit when a trip falls in Carnival month.

Flying to Guinea-Bissau with a dog or a cat
A pet can travel in the cabin, but the paperwork is the part to plan, because the country publishes no clear scheme.
The facts to read before you book
Pet-travel guides say that border officials usually ask for a rabies vaccination given from 12 weeks of age and at least 21 days before travel, and a health certificate from a vet endorsed by the national veterinary authority, valid for 10 days before arrival. A microchip and an import permit are described as not required, and no quarantine is listed.
The same guides say that only Bissau airport is mentioned as an entry point and that entry is at the discretion of the border officials. We found no official text, so we obtain the requirements in writing from the authorities before the aircraft is confirmed.
- A microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, which Britain requires for the way home even though Guinea-Bissau does not;
- A health certificate from a British vet, issued shortly before departure, with the rabies certificate attached.
Coming home, a pet from a country outside the simple British scheme, as we understand Guinea-Bissau to be, needs a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, then a rabies blood test taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, and a wait of three months from the date of the sample before the animal travels. The wait is not required if the animal was vaccinated and blood-tested, with a British health certificate or an EU pet passport, before it left, which is why we ask owners to do the tests before the outward flight. A dog must also be treated against tapeworm by a vet no less than 24 hours and no more than 120 hours before landing in Britain. No more than five animals may travel with one person, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be held in quarantine for up to four months.
We confirm in writing which entry point will receive the animal and which papers are needed. Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species are set out in our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price.
Where empty legs on this route come from
– A charter that lands in Bissau and does not wait: the aircraft returns to Europe empty, and the leg home is the one most often offered;
– Aircraft repositioned along the coast after a contract in Dakar, Banjul or Conakry.
Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of empty legs on this route follows:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,450 |
| UK (London Luton) - Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,600 |
| UK (Manchester) - Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) | Praetor 600 | 9 seats | £17,950 |
| Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) - UK (Bristol) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £22,000 |
| Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) - UK (Birmingham) | Challenger 605 | 12 seats | £22,600 |
| UK (Farnborough) - Guinea-Bissau (Bissau) | Legacy 650 | 13 seats | £23,450 |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Praetor 600 from Manchester to Bissau with nine aboard works out at about £2,000 a seat, and with four aboard about £4,500.

Helicopter charter
We found no helicopter operator in Guinea-Bissau that we can name and verify, so we confirm the machine, the crew and each landing site when the request comes in. These are the transfers that come up:
the main island of the Bijagos, in place of a boat that takes up to two and a half hoursabout 30 min
the old colonial capital, in place of a road and boat journeyabout 20 min
The times are straight-line estimates at a cruise of about 115 knots, and daylight is the limit.

Flights from the UK to Guinea-Bissau
Biggin Hill and Farnborough are the south-east airfields best suited to a long sector, with Luton, Gatwick, Stansted and London City as the other London options. Manchester is 85 nautical miles further from Bissau than Biggin Hill, which adds about £1,250 on a Praetor 600. The table below lists the British airports we work with:

Frequently asked questions about flying to Guinea-Bissau
1How long does it take to fly to Guinea-Bissau by private jet?
About 6 hours 05 minutes from London Biggin Hill to Bissau on a Praetor 600, without a stop. A light jet such as the Phenom 300E needs a fuel stop in Gran Canaria and takes about 7 hours 10 minutes.
2How much does a private jet to Guinea-Bissau cost?
From about £41,500 one way from Biggin Hill to Bissau on a Praetor 600. A Challenger 605 on the same departure is about £53,100, and from Edinburgh it is about £57,450. Bissau to Dakar starts from £3,100 on a turboprop.
3Which airport do private jets use in Guinea-Bissau?
Bissau Osvaldo Vieira International (OXB / GGOV), about 9 km north of the centre. It is the only international airport, with a 3,200 metre runway, an instrument landing system and listed customs. There is no business aviation terminal we can name, so we book a handling agent.
4Do British passengers need a visa for a private flight to Guinea-Bissau?
Yes. The Foreign Office says British citizens must have a visa, arranged through the Guinea-Bissau Embassy in Paris or an embassy in a neighbouring country, a passport valid for at least six months after arrival and a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The aircraft also needs a landing permit.
5What does the Foreign Office advise about travel to Guinea-Bissau?
It does not list an area to avoid, and says no travel can be guaranteed safe. It describes the country as politically unstable, warns of petty crime in Bissau and landmines outside the capital, and calls medical facilities extremely limited.
6Can I take my dog or cat on a private jet to Guinea-Bissau?
Yes, with planning. Pet-travel guides say officials usually ask for a rabies vaccination and a vet health certificate endorsed by the national veterinary authority, but no official scheme is published. The return follows the British rules for countries outside the simple scheme, including a rabies blood test.
