Private jet charter in Cannes

London to the Croisette is a morning's flight, and the one thing that can spoil it is an aircraft the nearest airport will not accept. Private Jets UK picks the airport before it picks the jet. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Cannes-Mandelieu lies about 5 km from the seafront but has typically accepted jets of up to 35 tonnes only, stops work in the evening and runs on slots through the summer, whereas Nice has a business aviation terminal of its own, never closes and takes everything larger or later. Most of the planning is a matter of choosing between the two, and of knowing what the Film Festival does to both.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Cannes depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Cannes?

One hour forty-five minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, two and a half hours from Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to allow for on arrival, because France keeps Central European time. At 567 to 894 nautical miles from the British fields we use, Cannes is a comfortable light-jet sector from the south of England and a job for a bigger cabin from Scotland. The table gives the sector from each field.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Mandelieu a little before ten local time. The airport is about 5 km from the centre of Cannes and La Croisette is typically 10 to 15 minutes away by car outside the busy hours, so a client who left a London office at half past six can be at a table on the seafront by eleven. The whole trip from central London to central Cannes comes to roughly three and a half hours. A scheduled flight into Nice, with the airport queues and the coast road to Cannes, usually costs an hour or more.

Light jet or midsize: and the rule that sets the ceiling

– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. A Citation or a Phenom covers the sector in under two hours, and the money saved against a midsize cabin pays for the car, the hotel and a dinner. The Pilatus PC-12 was the busiest type at Mandelieu in the month of the festival, which shows how well short-field turboprops suit the airport;

– Past four, or with wardrobe cases, camera kit or a dog, we quote a midsize cabin alongside so you see both figures. At the festival the luggage grows faster than the headcount;

– The ceiling is the weight limit. Mandelieu is published as taking jets of up to 35 tonnes maximum take-off weight and turboprops of up to 22 tonnes, and it bars older, noisier types; we confirm the current limit before quoting. A Gulfstream G450, an Embraer Legacy 650 or a Falcon 7X can land there; the heaviest long-range jets cannot and use Nice instead. Every aircraft in the Britain-to-Cannes tables above fits Mandelieu.

Switzerland and northern Italy sit inside about an hour, Sardinia is a short flight to the south, Paris takes roughly an hour and a quarter, and the Gulf is a job for a long-range cabin that, by the weight rule, will leave from Nice. Onward from the Riviera: when the aircraft wins and when the helicopter does

Nice airport is only 14 nautical miles from Mandelieu on the chart and Monaco's heliport 24, so nobody charters a jet to cross them: you drive, or you fly a helicopter, which takes about 7 minutes to Nice and about 15 to Monaco. The real onward flights are the ones with no good road. Geneva, at 172 nautical miles, takes about 45 minutes in a Phenom, Zurich, at 254, about 55 minutes, and Milan Linate, at 157, about 45 minutes in a light jet. Le Castellet, 56 nautical miles to the west, is only 35 minutes in a PC-12, but it takes Schengen traffic alone, so a flight from Britain cannot land there directly. The first landing carries the passport check; the hops after it do not.

Before you accept an onward quote from Cannes

– Which airport you leave from. A light or midsize jet can depart Mandelieu, but only before the tower closes, and a heavy jet will depart from Nice. The quote should name the field, because it changes the car, the clock and sometimes the price;

– Whether the legs are one booking. Cannes to Geneva to Milan over a week costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of going home between stops, and the slot and parking requests are made once.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Turbopropsfrom £850/h
Small jet£1,700 - 2,500/h
Light jet£2,100 - 3,000/h

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Cannes:

Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people

At just under two hours this is an easy sector for a small party. The short runway at Mandelieu is no obstacle to any of them, so the money is better spent on the car and the table than on a cabin you will not fill.

HondaJet Elite · 5 seatsfrom £1,900/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 · 8 seatsfrom £2,700/h

Midsize, for wardrobe cases, golf bags and a long stay

The hold fills faster than the seats on the Riviera: evening clothes for a festival week, clubs for the courses behind the coast, and whatever comes home from the shops.

Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h
Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h

Super-midsize and large

For a team that wants to work in the air, a group travelling as one party or a stay that moves on from the coast. These types sit comfortably under the Mandelieu weight limit; the very heaviest jets go to Nice instead.

Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h
Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 2000LXS · 10 seatsfrom £4,900/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h

Turboprops

The right aircraft for the short hops from the coast, and a type that is busy at Mandelieu: Le Castellet, Geneva and Olbia are about an hour or less in the air, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

Helicopters

Not for the flight from Britain but for the stretch along the coast: Nice, Monaco and Saint-Tropez are all minutes away by air, while the road from Nice to Monaco alone can take 45 to 60 minutes. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. The Riviera draws aircraft from London, Paris, Geneva and Milan all year, so outside the festival weeks there is often a suitable jet within an hour of Nice, and a quote may name one of those cities as the positioning point. That is normal for a coast with few based aircraft, and it is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Cannes

Three airports matter for a Cannes trip, and a fourth landing point matters for the last stretch to Monaco. Which one is right depends on the size of the aircraft, the hour and the week, much more than on where the hotel is.

Airport What it gives you
Cannes-Mandelieu
CEQ / LFMD
The airport for a stay in Cannes itself. It lies about 5 km west of the centre, close to sea level, with a paved main runway of roughly 1,600 m. It is published as taking jets of up to 35 tonnes and turboprops of up to 22 tonnes, and it bars older, noisier types such as the Falcon 50, the Hawker 400XP and the Citation 650; we confirm the current limit for your date. The handling desk opens at 06:30 and the tower at 08:00; the airport publishes closing at 20:00 in winter, 21:00 in spring and autumn, and 22:00 from early May to late August, with no overtime. Sky Valet is the handler, and the airport itself lists a VIP lounge with meet and greet, hangar space and car transfers
Nice Côte d'Azur
NCE / LFMN
The main airport of the coast, about 7 km west of Nice and roughly 25 km east of Cannes, with two parallel runways of 2,570 m and 2,960 m. Business aviation has its own terminal of 1,510 sq m with a customs post, space for about 120 business aircraft and a separate Helicopter Terminal with 14 stands; the airport lists three handlers, AviaVIP, Signature Aviation and DC Aviation. It operates round the clock, which makes it the answer for heavy jets, for late arrivals and for any day Mandelieu is full. The price is coordination: Nice is slot-controlled, and parking is typically confirmed only about a week before arrival
Le Castellet
LFMQ
A parking and positioning field to the west of the Riviera, about 5 km north of the village, with one runway of 1,485 m beside a racing circuit. It takes Schengen traffic only, so a jet arriving from Britain cannot land there directly. Prior permission is needed 24 hours ahead together with a general declaration, the control service keeps short hours that end in the afternoon, and night use is limited to instrument flights agreed in advance. Operators use it as a cheaper place to park than Nice, and the Jet A1 pump works around the clock by card or badge
Monaco Heliport
MCM / LNMC
Not an airport but the landing point for the principality, at Fontvieille. Helicopters link it with Nice in about five minutes, against 45 to 60 minutes by road, and the airport lists Blade and Heli Air Monaco as the operators on that link. In Grand Prix week the rules tighten, and every helicopter movement at Nice needs prior authorisation through the handler

Four things to settle before a Cannes landing:

The terminal and its services

At Mandelieu the airport's own pages list handling requests, a VIP lounge with meet and greet, hangar space and car transfers, with Sky Valet as the handler. At Nice, business aviation has a terminal of its own with a customs post. We choose the handler when we write the quote, and we order the car, the catering and any helicopter through the same desk.

Hours, slots and permits

Mandelieu closes between 20:00 and 22:00 depending on the season and gives no overtime. From about mid-May to mid-September, jets and turboprops on an instrument flight plan need a slot from the coordinator, COHOR, held to within about ten minutes. Nice is slot-controlled all year. A British operator is a third-country operator in EU terms, so it needs the authorisation and traffic rights that go with that status, which it files and we track.

Border and passport

France is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months after departure. Sky Valet lists customs on site at Mandelieu, and Nice has a customs post in the business terminal; we confirm cover for your hour before the quote is written.

Car and late nights

Give us the airport as well as the city, because Cannes has a Mandelieu and a Nice and a driver told only "Cannes airport" may wait at the wrong one. Mandelieu has its own exit from the A8 motorway, number 41. A late arrival should go to Nice, which never closes, followed by a drive of 30 to 45 minutes in theory and more during the festival.

business aviation

Border, passport and the Schengen hop

The first landing in France is where the formalities happen, and it is worth choosing it with that in mind. Britain is outside Schengen, so a flight from London is an external arrival: passports are checked, customs is dealt with, and a first-time visitor is asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system, at no charge. After that the Schengen area is open. A jet that has landed at Mandelieu or Nice can carry on to Geneva, Milan or Le Castellet as a domestic-style hop, which is why we always make the first landing at a field that can clear the border. For the return to Britain, the General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and passengers who are neither British nor Irish need an Electronic Travel Authorisation for the UK unless they hold a visa.

From the apron to La Croisette

Cannes is a compact seafront town with a festival hall at its centre, and most of what a visitor wants lies along a strip of coast with Nice to the east, Monaco beyond it and Saint-Tropez to the south-west. The ground distances are short on the map and slow in the season, which is why so many clients move to the air for the second half of the journey.

Flying to Cannes with a dog or a cat

For a pet the paperwork is the part of a French trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector of under two hours most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail that goes wrong, because the certificate is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

private flight with animals

What France, as an EU country, asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:

  • An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
  • A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before the animal travels;
  • An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
  • No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, where French customs check the documents and the identity of the animal;
  • For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.

What catches owners out on the Riviera run

– France does not ask for tapeworm treatment on the way in, only Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Cannes or Nice towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a flight that moves by a day can move the window out of reach. A winter evening departure from Mandelieu also has to beat the 20:00 closing time;

– Breed matters in France. Dogs classed as category 1 (Staffordshire and American Staffordshire terrier types, mastiff types and the Tosa) cannot be imported without a pedigree recognised by the French ministry, and category 2 dogs need a birth or pedigree certificate and must be muzzled and on a lead in public places. Tell us the breed before the quote;

– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and an animal that arrives without the right paperwork can be returned or quarantined at the owner's expense, so the certificate is checked line by line before the flight, not at the terminal. Settle the hotel and any helicopter in advance, because each one has to accept the animal separately.

Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.

The Cannes calendar: a town that works to a conference diary

Cannes has fewer quiet weeks than most destinations. The big dates are known a year ahead, they sit close together, and each one changes what the airports will accept, so choosing the week matters more than choosing the aircraft.

March
MIPIM, the property market, which fills the Palais des Festivals for four days. Booking pressure comes from delegations rather than leisure, and the pattern is usually a short stay of two or three days, with a fixed return flight
May
The Film Festival, about ten days in mid-May. Demand on the coast builds from around the 12th and holds to the 25th. Slots and parking at Mandelieu are tight, the crew rooms are expensive, and the helicopter link from Nice fills early, so every piece is booked together
Late May or early June
The Monaco Grand Prix, which follows the festival by less than two weeks in some years and falls in early June in others. Nice works under special restrictions for around five days, instrument connections between Nice and Cannes are not allowed, and Mandelieu cannot be counted on as an overflow
June
Cannes Lions, the advertising festival, in what tends to be the busiest month of the year for business jets on this coast, with May close behind. Corporate travel on fixed dates, so booking early matters
Mid-May to mid-September
The slot period at Mandelieu, not an event in itself but the reason a spontaneous summer booking needs more lead time here than elsewhere. The airport also stays open until 22:00 from early May to late August, which helps day trips
September
The Cannes Yachting Festival, in the port. A mixed crowd of owners, buyers and guests, often arriving in small parties on tight timetables. The slot period ends in the middle of the month
October
MIPCOM, the television and content market. Business travel again, mostly small groups on fixed dates, when the summer slot period is already over
Winter
The quiet season, with the airport closing at 20:00 from the second half of October to early March. Short trips to the coast, a thinner programme at the airports and aircraft positioning ahead of the spring

Why a festival week costs more

Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and the Riviera is well placed in it. What gets tight is the ramp: at the peak, Nice parking is very limited, Mandelieu parking is allocated first-come, first-served, and slot and parking requests are advised one to two months ahead. Crew hotel rooms around the festival can reach about £600 to £800 a night. A booking made two weeks before the festival can still be done, but it may mean an aircraft positioned from another city and dropping you off to park elsewhere, which costs more. The same booking made six or eight weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside the big dates Cannes is one of the easier Riviera destinations to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.

Ways to bring the Cannes price down

  • Move the dates by a few days where you can. The days either side of the festival core and of the Grand Prix weekend are calmer, and the same aircraft costs less to position;
  • Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Nice, Geneva or Milan takes less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of under two hours positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
  • Do not choose between Nice and Cannes on price. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill the sector to Nice is priced at the same level as the sector to Cannes, so decide by where the meeting is and by parking. Parking is what grows with the length of the stay, and a longer stay is one reason operators send an empty aircraft to a cheaper field such as Le Castellet.

Types of flights

Cannes produces a different mix from the Alpine or the island destinations we cover, because it is a venue before it is a resort: the people who fly here are, much more often than elsewhere, going to an event.

  • Film Festival and Cannes Lions travel, with fixed dates, evening wear and a request for a driver who knows the road closures;
  • Property and television conferences, MIPIM in March and MIPCOM in October, with small teams and a return flight that cannot move;
  • Yacht owners and charter guests around the Yachting Festival, and crew changes on boats along the coast;
  • Grand Prix weekends, flown to Nice with a helicopter on to Monaco, because the road is slow and the heliport is in the principality itself;
  • Villa weekends and drives into the hills behind the coast, with Grasse about 30 minutes from Mandelieu;
  • Hops to Geneva, Zurich and Milan inside a longer European loop, with the first landing used to clear the border.

The day trip is the one to look at closely. Land a little before ten, leave at five in the afternoon local time and you are on the British side again a little before six, UK time, with seven hours on the ground in between. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. The evening closing time at Mandelieu is the constraint, and in winter the last departure is 20:00. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Cannes has several strong sources of them, tied to the same events that fill the ramp, and it helps to know what produces them.

Where Cannes empty legs come from

– The week after a big event. An aircraft that brought guests to the festival, MIPIM or the Yachting Festival often leaves empty for London, Paris or Geneva when its passengers decide to stay on or to travel back another way;

– Grand Prix weekends. Aircraft that drop passengers at Nice cannot always stay, so they position out to park and return for the pick-up, and each of those flights is a leg that can be sold;

– The turn of the season. Operators moving aircraft to and from the Riviera in spring and autumn put short legs on the market, and those can be cheap.

Because the Riviera corridor is crowded on the big dates and thin between them, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Cannes match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

On this coast a helicopter is part of the middle of a trip and not only its edges. The distances are short, the road along the shore is slow in the season, and the heliports of Nice and Monaco are built for the work. About a quarter of the movements at Mandelieu are helicopters, and Nice has a terminal and fourteen stands dedicated to them.

Nice airport to Monaco Heliport
Fontvieille, against 45 to 60 minutes by road
about 5 minutes
Cannes to Nice airport
the quick way to a larger airport or to a heavy jet that cannot use Mandelieu
about 7 minutes
Cannes to Monaco
from the coast to the heliport at Fontvieille, for a dinner or a race
about 15 minutes
Cannes to Saint-Tropez
across the bay, past the single road in and out of the peninsula
about 20 minutes

Before you plan around a helicopter

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a hotel or villa pad before the quote is written, not after it. At Saint-Tropez the public heliport lies outside the town and the drive from it takes 30 minutes or more, so a private pad is worth arranging;

– Festival and Grand Prix weeks change the rules. The helicopter link between Nice and Cannes fills quickly during the festival, so book early and reconfirm. In Grand Prix week every helicopter movement at Nice needs prior authorisation through the ground handler, and over the race weekend parking is limited to boarding, unloading and refuelling;

– Weather sets the schedule. A cloud base below 3,000 ft is a frequent limit on this coast, and a sea haze can come and go within minutes, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day.

The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for scenic and coastal work, the wider H130 for villa and hotel transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Cannes charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK

A morning meeting on the Croisette and home for dinner

Biggin Hill - Cannes and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 45 min each way · 4 pax

Wheels up at seven, on the ground a little before ten local time, at the table by half past ten and back at Biggin Hill before six. The aircraft and crew waited at Mandelieu rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. The last departure had to be inside the airport's closing time, and it was.

MIPIM · FIXED DATES

A property team for a conference week

London Luton - Cannes, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 8 pax

The dates were set by the conference and the return could not move. Eight people, laptops, printed brochures and a request for one car to meet the aircraft. The handling was arranged a week ahead, the handler pre-arranged the passport check, and the crew stayed in the town for the three days.

FILM FESTIVAL · DROP AND COLLECT

A premiere guest list, with the aircraft parked elsewhere

Farnborough - Cannes, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 40 min · 6 pax

Slots at Mandelieu are tight in festival week and the ramp is full, so the aircraft dropped the party in the afternoon and left for a stand at another field, returning to collect them on the last day. We booked the slots, the parking and the car together two months ahead, because any one of them is hard to find late.

MONACO GRAND PRIX · NICE AND A HELICOPTER

A family party for the race weekend, with no road transfer

Manchester - Nice, Citation Latitude, about 2 h · 7 pax

They flew into Nice, where the business terminal clears the border, and took the helicopter on to the heliport at Fontvieille in minutes rather than an hour on the road. The handler secured the stand and the helicopter authorisation for the week well ahead, and the aircraft left to park elsewhere until the Monday.

A DOG ON BOARD · LONG WEEKEND

Four adults and a spaniel for the Yachting Festival

Southampton - Cannes, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 40 min · 4 pax + dog

The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment on the coast for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.

EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH

A jet already going your way

Cannes - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 40 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Cannes

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Cannes?

About 1 hour 45 minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 1 hour 40 minutes from Luton in a Phenom, covering roughly 567 to 603 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 1 hour 55 minutes to 2 hours, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 20 minutes. France is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before ten local time.

2How much does a private jet to Cannes cost?

From about £8,300 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, and £8,550 to £8,800 in a Phenom from Farnborough or Luton. A midsize cabin runs £10,550 to £11,750 from the south and the Midlands, and from Scotland allow £18,400 to £18,700. The weeks of the Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix can price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use, Cannes-Mandelieu or Nice?

Cannes-Mandelieu (CEQ / LFMD) if the stay is in Cannes and the jet weighs no more than the published 35 tonnes, a limit we confirm for your date. It is about 5 km from the seafront, but the tower works from 08:00 and the airport closes between 20:00 and 22:00 depending on the season, with no overtime. Jets and turboprops on instrument flight plans need a slot from about mid-May to mid-September. Nice (NCE / LFMN) is about 25 km east, has a business aviation terminal of its own and operates round the clock, so it suits heavy jets, late arrivals and festival days when Mandelieu is full.

4Do I need a visa or customs clearance for Cannes?

Britain is outside Schengen and France is inside it, so you clear passport control and customs on arrival at Mandelieu or Nice. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months after departure. A first-time visitor is asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system. The operator and our team handle the aircraft paperwork, including the authorisations a British operator needs for France.

5Can I fly on to Monaco or Saint-Tropez from Cannes?

Yes, by helicopter. Monaco is about 15 minutes from Cannes to the heliport at Fontvieille, Nice about 7 minutes and Saint-Tropez about 20. By road the link from Nice airport to Monaco alone can take 45 to 60 minutes. In Grand Prix week every helicopter movement at Nice needs prior authorisation through the handler, so the transfer is booked with the jet. For a fixed-wing hop, Le Castellet, 56 nautical miles to the west, is about 35 minutes in a PC-12, but it takes Schengen traffic only, so it is a second leg and never the first landing.

6Can I take my dog to Cannes on a private jet?

Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and France, as an EU country, asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used. France does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment, and some dogs classed as dangerous in France face extra rules, so tell us the breed.
