Private jet charter in Vienna
A jet leaving the London fields lands in Vienna a little over two hours later, and the planning that matters starts after the wheels touch: a ball with a dress code, a delegation with a timetable, or a road trip into a different country. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of those it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Vienna is easy to fly into and a long way from the ski slopes. Schwechat has a dedicated General Aviation Centre, three competing handlers and runways that take anything we send, so the real decisions here are the date, the cabin size and what happens on day two.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Vienna depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Vienna?
Two hours ten minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, two and a half hours from Edinburgh, and one hour of clock difference to remember on arrival, because Vienna keeps Central European time. At 700 to 940 nautical miles this sits in the middle of the short-haul range: far enough that a light jet is a long sit, close enough that nothing needs a heavy cabin to make it. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Schwechat a little after ten local time. The airport sits about 18 km south-east of the city and a private transfer to the centre takes 20 to 35 minutes, so a client who walked out of a London office at half past six can be in a Vienna meeting room before noon. Add the drive to the British airfield and the quick processing at both terminals and the whole journey from central London to central Vienna comes to roughly four hours, against most of a working day by scheduled service.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Up to about four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer and the saving over a midsize cabin is real. Two and a quarter hours in a CJ3+ or a Phenom is perfectly comfortable;
– Past that, or with formal clothes, camera cases, conference kit or a dog, we start quoting a midsize jet alongside it so you see both figures. Ball weekends push the luggage count up faster than the passenger count, and the hold is what decides;
– Heavy aircraft only make sense when the party is large, when the same aircraft stays with you across several European stops, or when Vienna is the first leg of something longer.

Prices for the private jet flights to Vienna
Typical trips from Britain, cheapest first, all of them into the General Aviation Centre at Schwechat. Ball season, the September conference weeks and the Christmas market weekends sit above these figures, and the calendar block further down explains when.

Private jet flights from Vienna
Vienna is not an Alpine gateway the way some cities are, but it is a very good place to start a Central European loop. Budapest, Prague and Bratislava are short enough to be day trips, Croatia and Venice sit within a light-jet hour and a half, and Salzburg and Graz are short turboprop hops. Typical one-way prices:

Austria from the air: when a turboprop beats the motorway
Salzburg is about 150 nautical miles from Vienna and roughly three hours away by road; a Pilatus PC-12 does it in about an hour in the air. Innsbruck, the airport for the Arlberg and Kitzbühel, is a road journey of around four and a half hours and one of the more demanding approaches in the Alps, which is why it is flown by crews who hold the specific training for it. Graz is the airport for the Red Bull Ring at Spielberg and the Austrian Grand Prix, which is a Styrian event, not a Viennese one: from Graz the circuit is about 60 minutes by car or 20 by helicopter, while from Vienna it is roughly two hours by road. For most clients the sensible plan is to land in Graz and not at Schwechat.
Before you accept an Austrian onward quote
– Which airport, and who can fly it. Innsbruck has an evening noise curfew and demands trained crews, and Salzburg has historically asked for prior permission through the ski season. A quote that ignores either is a quote that will change;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Vienna to Budapest to Prague over three days costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Vienna between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Vienna:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
At two hours ten this is still the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Nothing here lacks the range for Vienna, so the money goes on the hour rather than on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for ball gowns and conference luggage
Garment bags, presentation kit and a week of formal clothes are what push a party past the light-jet hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for trips that carry on from Vienna to the Gulf rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Austrian domestic legs: Salzburg and Graz are about an hour or less in a turboprop, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Alpine valleys, the Red Bull Ring and a villa lawn that has no runway. Austrian rules on where a helicopter may put down are strict, so the site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Vienna sits in the middle of the Central European fleet, so for a booking that is not in the middle of ball season there is usually an aircraft already within an hour of Schwechat, in Budapest, Prague, Munich or northern Italy, and that is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Vienna
One airport does nearly all of the work. The others matter for specific reasons, and it helps to know them before a quote arrives with one of them in it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Vienna International, Schwechat VIE / LOWW |
The answer for almost every trip. About 18 km south-east of the centre, open round the clock and equipped for every aircraft type, with two runways of 3,600 m and 3,500 m. Business aviation has its own General Aviation Centre with three handlers: Vienna Airport FBO (an airport subsidiary), Jet Aviation and Magnum FBO. Customs and immigration are handled there, and aircraft up to a Bombardier Global fit in the handler hangars |
| Bratislava, M. R. Štefánik BTS / LZIB |
The foreign alternative, in Slovakia, about 60 km from Vienna and 9 km from the centre of Bratislava. A 3,190 m runway, customs on site and a general aviation terminal with its own handlers. Slots are required and handling is compulsory. Worth a look when Schwechat is full, or when half the trip is in Bratislava anyway |
| Wiener Neustadt East LOAN |
A small business and general aviation field about 40 km south of Vienna, with a 1,067 m runway and a published weight limit of around six tonnes. Fine for a turboprop or a very light jet and no use for anything larger. A handling database lists night and non-EU arrivals as prior-notice only |
| Vöslau LOAV |
A small aerodrome about 35 km south of Vienna with a 950 m paved runway, used for light aircraft and helicopter work. A broker listing reports a night curfew and a weight cap of 8,600 kg, so it is a niche choice rather than a rival to Schwechat |
| Linz LNZ / LOWL |
Roughly 170 km west with a 3,000 m runway, customs and a Magnum FBO. Open from early morning to 23:00. Named by Vienna Airport itself as one of its alternates, and a sensible diversion more than a first choice |
| Salzburg and Innsbruck SZG / LOWS, INN / LOWI |
Not alternatives to Vienna but the ski airports, and where many Austrian trips actually end. Salzburg has a 2,750 m runway and customs; Innsbruck sits in a valley with trained-crew approaches, a 06:00 to 23:00 operating window and a noise curfew at night |
Four points settle most Vienna arrivals:
Choose the handler
Schwechat's General Aviation Centre has three handlers on one apron. Jet Aviation runs round the clock with its own Jet A-1 fuelling, Magnum FBO is the independent known for limousines and aircraft cleaning, and Vienna Airport FBO is the airport's own. Service and pricing vary, so we ask the operator for its preference.
Hours, slots and noise
Vienna holds a 24-hour licence with no curfew, so a late departure is possible. The night core period starts at 23:30 with a cap of 4,700 movements a year, and only aircraft meeting noise category 3 are accepted. Slots are required and handling is optional. For a post-ball departure or an older jet we confirm in writing first.
Border and passport
Austria is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border inside the General Aviation Centre. British passport holders need no visa for a short trip of up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport under ten years old and valid three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked for a photograph and fingerprints.
Car and late nights
Give us the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only General Aviation Centre may wait at the wrong door. For ball nights, put the late car and crew in the quote from the start. On conference weeks, ask the delegation office whether protocol cars already cover the airport run.

Border, passport and Bratislava
Bratislava is the exception to the rule that the closest airport wins. If the meeting is in Bratislava, land there: the arrival formalities are at the Slovak airport, and the road to Vienna afterwards is inside the Schengen area with no border control.

From the apron to the Ring
Vienna is a city you reach in half an hour from Schwechat and then walk. The Innere Stadt, the Ringstrasse and most of what a visitor wants sit inside one tight circle, and the distances that matter are the ones that run outward, to Bratislava, to the Alps and to the Styrian circuit.

Flying to Vienna with a dog or a cat
Austria asks for more paperwork than the flight itself takes, and the flight is short enough that most animals sleep through it. The animal sits beside you in the cabin with no hold involved. What matters is that the certificate is dated correctly, because it has a ten-day life from the day it is issued.

What Austria asks for:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination and not after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, issued no more than ten days before the animal enters the EU and valid for the return to Britain for up to six months;
- A declaration in German and English, filled in block capitals, travelling with the certificate;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented to customs at the first point of entry into the EU, which our handler arranges at the terminal;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the return flight to Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Vienna run
– Austria asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in, only before the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Vienna, towards the end of the stay, and not something you do before leaving;
– A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate has to be a fresh one for each trip, and an animal whose rabies vaccination lapses during the trip loses the right to re-enter on it;
– A Christmas market weekend with a dog is an ordinary booking. Settle the hotel and any onward helicopter before the quote, because a hotel has to accept the animal and a rotary operator has to agree to it separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Vienna calendar: a ball city with a conference habit
Vienna keeps a steadier rhythm than a resort and a sharper one than a business centre. Winter is dominated by balls, spring and early summer by festivals, September by conferences and fashion, and December by markets. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a ball week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Vienna is well placed in it. What gets tight is slots at Schwechat, space on the apron and good cars, all in the same week. A booking made a fortnight before the Opera Ball or the September conference can still be done, but it pays more, and it may mean an aircraft positioned from Munich or Budapest. The same booking made five or six weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Vienna is one of the easier capitals to fly into, and a charter can usually be arranged in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Vienna price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The week after the Opera Ball is calm, and so is the second half of October;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Vienna, Budapest or Prague takes less positioning than one from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the car and the hotel.
Types of flights
Vienna produces a different mix from the Italian or French destinations we cover, because the city is a diplomatic capital, an opera city and the gateway to Central Europe all at once.
- Conference and delegation travel, tied to the United Nations agencies based here, OPEC and the IAEA, where timing is fixed and arrival formalities are the main concern;
- Ball and opera weekends in winter, which mean formal wear, late nights and a departure the day after;
- Day trips from London, which at about two hours each way are a long day but a workable one;
- Central European business hops to Budapest, Prague, Bratislava and Zagreb, often tied in with a Vienna stop;
- Alpine ski trips that start in Vienna and end in Salzburg or Innsbruck, usually when a party is combining the city with the mountains;
- Motorsport and events in Styria, flown to Graz.
The day trip is worth a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. Leaving at seven and coming back at nine in the evening gives you a full working day in Vienna and a bed in your own house, and on this route we quote it both ways so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Vienna route they come from the pattern of events rather than from sheer volume, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Vienna empty legs come from
– Conference weeks. When delegations arrive on charters from across Europe, the aircraft often leave empty a day or two later, producing outbound legs in the days after;
– Ball season and the New Year. Aircraft come in for the weekend and go back to their bases on the Sunday, and that evening leg is the one most often offered;
– Alpine rotation. Through the ski season operators move aircraft between Salzburg, Innsbruck and Vienna, and the short Austrian legs between them can be cheap.
Because the Vienna corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Vienna match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Vienna a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The old town is small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the Alpine valleys, the Styrian circuit and the Danube corridor.
the standard race-weekend transfer, against about an hour by carabout 20 minutes
road times of 70 to 90 minutes, or a quarter of that by helicopter in good weatherabout 25 minutes
against three hours by road, though a PC-12 does it in about the same timeabout 1 h 10 min
Klosterneuburg, the Nussdorf vineyards, the Ferris Wheel and the Danube Tower along the riverabout 40 minutes
the field south of Vienna used by light helicopters, 35 km from the airportabout 15 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter in Austria cannot land wherever it likes. Landings outside an aerodrome are permitted only at authorised sites, which means a hotel lawn or a private villa needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after;
– Mountain weather sets the schedule. Cloud in the valleys can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a mountain transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– Twin-engine machines are the sensible minimum on any route across high ground. For race weekends and the New Year, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for Alpine work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Vienna charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning meeting in Vienna and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Vienna and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 10 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground at Schwechat a little after ten local time, in the meeting by noon and back at Biggin Hill before ten at night. The aircraft and crew waited at the General Aviation Centre rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. It is a long day and it works.
BALL SEASON · THE LUGGAGE BOOKED THE CABIN
Six people, six garment bags and a morning-after departure
Farnborough - Vienna, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min · 6 pax
A weekend built around a carnival ball. Evening dress and tailcoats took the hold well beyond what a light jet carries comfortably, and the quote moved up a class for that reason, not for the seats. The return left on Sunday afternoon, and the slot was booked together with the outbound.
CONFERENCE WEEK · FIXED DATES
A delegation for the September general conference
London Luton - Vienna, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the conference and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, printed briefing folders and a request for a protocol car at the aircraft door. The booking went in six weeks ahead, the handler pre-arranged the passport check at the terminal, and the aircraft left Luton on time with nothing to explain.
MOTORSPORT · THE OTHER AIRPORT WON
A group for the Austrian Grand Prix
London City - Graz, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 10 min · 6 pax
They asked for Vienna because it is the capital and the name everyone knows. The Red Bull Ring is in Styria, about two hours from Schwechat by road, and Graz is an hour by car and about twenty minutes by helicopter. Same aircraft, a few minutes less flying and an hour of road instead of two. The only cost was asking where the circuit was before quoting.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a December weekend
Southampton - Vienna, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 15 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Vienna for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Vienna - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 05 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Vienna
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Vienna?
About 2 hours 10 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City, and around 2 hours 5 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 700 to 730 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Manchester or Bristol allow about 2 hours 20, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 30 to 2 hours 35. Vienna is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly after ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Vienna cost?
From about £9,850 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City, and £10,100 from Luton. A midsize cabin runs £12,950 to £13,750 from the south and Midlands, and from Scotland allow £18,850 to £19,450. Ball season, the September conference weeks and the Christmas market weekends price above these figures.
3Which Vienna airport should a private jet use?
Vienna International at Schwechat (VIE / LOWW) for almost every trip. It is about 18 km from the centre, open round the clock without a curfew, and has a General Aviation Centre with three handlers and its own customs. Bratislava (BTS / LZIB) is the alternative about 60 km away, worth using if the trip is really to Slovakia or Schwechat is full. Wiener Neustadt East is for turboprops and very light jets only.
4When should I book a private jet to Vienna?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Opera Ball and the rest of ball season in January and February, and for the conference and fashion weeks in September, allow four to six weeks. Slots, apron space and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another country.
5Can I fly on from Vienna to Salzburg, Innsbruck or the Red Bull Ring?
Yes, and a turboprop is the usual aircraft: Salzburg is about an hour in a PC-12 against three hours by road, and Innsbruck is demanding enough that it needs crews with the specific training. For the Austrian Grand Prix fly to Graz, not Vienna, because the Red Bull Ring is in Styria and is about 20 minutes from Graz by helicopter. A helicopter to the Arlberg and Kitzbühel from Innsbruck takes about 25 minutes.
6Can I take my dog to Vienna on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Austria asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, an Animal Health Certificate issued within ten days of arrival and a declaration in German and English. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
