Private jet charter in Almeria
Almeria logs more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, so a London jet that lands here in January usually arrives to daytime highs of 17 or 18 degrees, with a Moorish fortress above the harbour, the film-set desert of Tabernas about half an hour to the north and the volcanic coast of Cabo de Gata beyond the hills to the east. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whatever the trip is for: a villa near San Jose, a weekend in the white hill village of Mojacar, a day among the mirrors of the solar research platform or a transfer on towards the Sierra Nevada. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Almeria is quieter than the Costa del Sol, and the quiet is the attraction, but it does ask for a little planning. The airport has one 3,165 m runway, an operating day that ends before midnight, compulsory handling for every flight from Britain and no hangar, so the choices that matter are the handler, the arrival time and whether Malaga is the better way in for your party.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Almeria depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Farnborough, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Almeria?
Expect 2 h 40 min from Farnborough in a light jet, a little longer from the Midlands and the north of England, and 3 h 10 min from Edinburgh or Glasgow in a Challenger. Spain runs on Central European time, so the clocks on the ground are an hour ahead of Britain and a morning departure lands later on the clock than the flight time suggests. The sectors run from 882 to 1,194 nautical miles, long for a light jet but still nonstop for a Phenom or a Citation. The table gives the figure from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave Farnborough at eight and the wheels touch down at Almeria a little before midday local time. The airport is about 9 km east of the city and a private car covers the distance to the old town in about a quarter of an hour. Add the flight, the short formalities at both ends and the drive, and the centre of London to a table under the Alcazaba comes to roughly five hours, early enough to eat a late lunch in the old town and still see the fortress in the low afternoon light.
Light jet or midsize: the question that comes up on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary luggage, take the light jet. At about 2 h 40 min a CJ3+ or Phenom is comfortable, and a midsize cabin adds about £2,950 each way from Farnborough;
– Villa holidays and golf or diving kit change the answer. Four adults with a week of beach luggage and a set of clubs each fill the hold of a light jet before the seats are taken, and we then quote a midsize aircraft beside the light one so that both figures are in front of you;
– Heavy long-range types need a conversation first. The rescue and firefighting cover at Almeria is category 7, and category 8 has to be requested from the airport at least 15 days ahead, so for a Gulfstream G550 or a Global we check the category before the aircraft is offered.

Almeria as a base for the south-east and the sea crossings
Malaga is only 107 nautical miles from Almeria, Murcia 86 and Granada 73, which is why we do not list them as sectors: a car takes about an hour and 40 minutes to Granada and a little over two hours to Malaga, and the transfer at both ends eats most of what an aircraft saves. The air legs that make sense start further out. Madrid is a short light-jet hop with a busy, slot-controlled airport at the far end. Ibiza and Palma are 1 h 20 min and 1 h 35 min in a Pilatus PC-12, the aircraft we usually quote for the sea crossing because a jet cannot match its price on so short a leg. Marrakech takes a light jet about 1 h 35 min, and passport and customs formalities there are arranged separately from the Spanish ones.
Before you accept an onward quote from Almeria
– Whether the departure time fits the airport. Almeria is not open all night, and a late dinner in the old town or a long afternoon at the beach can run into the closing time. We check the planned departure against the published hours before we send a price;
– Whether the route is one booking. Almeria to Ibiza to Barcelona over a long weekend costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to the south-east of Spain between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Almeria:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
Two and a half hours is still comfortable in this class for four or five people. Every aircraft here reaches Almeria from Britain without a stop, so the money goes on the flying hour and not on range you will not use.
Midsize, for villa luggage and longer stays
A family heading for a house on the coast brings far more than a weekend bag, and a midsize cabin also lets you stand up and work on a sector of this length.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for itineraries that carry on from Almeria to Madrid, Marrakech or beyond without turning round. The largest types depend on the airport firefighting category.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Balearic crossings and for short Andalusian legs: Ibiza and Palma are 1 h 20 min and 1 h 35 min in a turboprop, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large. The 3,165 m runway is far more than a turboprop needs.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: a cortijo in the natural park, a hotel by the sea or a scenic hour over the desert. A helicopter cannot land just anywhere in Spain, so the landing site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Aircraft for an Almeria booking often start from Malaga, Madrid or Palma rather than from Almeria itself, so for a date that does not fall on a holiday week we can usually find one within an hour or two of the airport, and that is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Almeria
One airport is the natural landing and three more are worth knowing before a quote arrives with one of them in it. Almeria's own field is open for a defined day, has no hangar and is a long way from the rest of Andalusia, so it pays to know when the neighbours are the better choice.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Almeria LEI / LEAM |
The first choice for the city, the Alcazaba, Cabo de Gata, Mojacar and the Tabernas desert. It lies about 9 km east of Almeria at 21 m above sea level and is run by Aena. The single runway 07/25 is 3,165 m by 45 m of asphalt, and the instrument landing system (category I) serves runway 25, while runway 07 has satellite-based and non-directional beacon approaches. Fire cover is category 7, with category 8 on request. There is no hangar, no repair shop, no de-icing and no medical facility at the airport. Jet A-1 and 100LL are available, with Exolum listed for fuel. Three ground handlers are named in the official aeronautical publication: South Europe Ground Services, Universal Aviation Spain and United Aviation Services, the last with a round-the-clock operations line. Handling is mandatory for every flight, business aviation included |
| Malaga Costa del Sol AGP / LEMG |
The all-hours alternative and the better door in for a trip that includes the Costa del Sol. About 8 km south-west of Malaga, with a 3,198 m main runway, customs and immigration open round the clock and a long list of business aviation handlers, among them Sky Valet Spain, Jetex, Universal Aviation Spain, United Aviation Services and AviaVIP. General aviation needs an airport slot requested before the flight plan is filed. It is 107 nautical miles from Almeria by air and about 214 km by road, a little over two hours, so we use it when Almeria is closed, when the arrival falls outside its hours or when the party is really going west |
| Granada-Jaen, Federico Garcia Lorca GRX / LEGR |
The practical choice for skiers and for the Alhambra. The runway is 2,900 m, the airport is about 158 km from Almeria by road (roughly an hour and 40 minutes), and the Sierra Nevada ski station is about an hour from Granada against more than two hours from Almeria. It is a limited-hours airport, so we check the arrival time before we choose it |
| Region of Murcia International RMU / LEMI |
The northern option, about 24 km south of Murcia, with a 3,000 m runway, an instrument landing system on runway 23 and no hangar. Handling is mandatory and two agents are listed, including Aircity Classic for general and executive aviation. General aviation must obtain a slot at least 24 hours before departure from the origin airport, and customs and immigration are by prior request. It is 86 nautical miles from Almeria and roughly 218 km by road, which suits a trip that is half Murcia and half Almeria and little else |
Four points settle most Almeria arrivals:
Choose the handler
Handling is compulsory at Almeria for every operation, non-commercial included, and for flights from outside the Schengen area the exemption for aircraft that stay on the apron does not apply. The handler is named in item 18 of the flight plan. We ask the operator for its preference and tell you who will meet you.
Hours
The aerodrome hours are published in UTC and convert to about 07:10 to 22:45 local time all year, summer and winter alike. The control tower works a little wider, from about 06:55 to 23:05, and to about 23:35 on request. Anything outside that means Malaga, so we plan the evening departure well inside the window.
Border and passport
Spain is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you are checked on arrival. Customs and immigration at Almeria follow the aerodrome hours, which is why the arrival time is settled before the aircraft is booked.
What the airport lacks
A visiting jet stays on the apron: there is no hangar, no repair or de-icing and no medical post. The climate is dry and de-icing is rarely the question, but a technical fault means the aircraft has to move to a maintenance base, so we ask the operator how that would be handled.

Border, passport and the way home
Arrival is simple once the timing is right, and the handler arranges it. A British passport must have been issued less than ten years before the day of entry and must still be valid three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. No visa is needed for stays of up to 90 days in any 180. The Entry/Exit System can take a photograph and fingerprints on a first entry, and the officer may ask for a return ticket, proof of funds and the address where you are staying, which for a charter client means keeping the confirmation to hand.
The flight home needs more thought than the flight out. Britain is outside Schengen, so passengers pass passport control and customs on arrival at the British airfield. A General Aviation Report has to be filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and the penalties for getting it wrong are £2,500 for a first landing at a non-regulated aerodrome and £2,000 per passenger without permission. We file it for you and name the airfield in the booking, so nothing is left to the day.

From the apron to the Alcazaba
Almeria is a port city under a hill with a fortress on it, and the distances that matter run outward from it: to the park, to the desert, to the resort strip west of the city and to the airports that lie in other provinces.

Where to stay: the hotels clients book
The city has a handful of good hotels, the coast has large resorts, and the park has small country houses with a handful of rooms. That last fact matters more than any aircraft question: a cortijo with seven to twelve rooms can be full in August or at Easter, and then the room decides the dates. The names below come from published listings, and availability should be confirmed before a flight is booked.
a converted nineteenth-century building with Arab-style baths and a rooftop pool looking at the Alcazabacity

Flying to Almeria with a dog or a cat
Spain is among the easier countries to travel to with an animal, and a flight of about three hours is a short enough day for most dogs and cats. The animal travels in the cabin beside you. The paperwork is where owners trip, above all the dates, because the health certificate has only a ten-day life.

What Spain asks for on arrival:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or on the same day, never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and used for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which our handler arranges at the airport;
- A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU, so a new certificate is needed for every trip.
The return to Britain, and what catches owners out
– Dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain, with the product, date and time recorded. Cats do not. On a trip based in Cabo de Gata that means a vet visit in Almeria or Nijar on the last full day, and not a job for the morning of the flight;
– A pet travel document and a declaration go with the animal. An animal that does not meet the rules can face quarantine of up to four months, and we check every document before the aircraft is booked;
– A private flight into Britain has no published approved-route text of its own for pets, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight. Country hotels and cortijos differ widely on animals, and a helicopter operator has to agree separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Almeria calendar: sun all winter, Holy Week and a late-August fair
Almeria has no single week that swamps the rest. Its pattern is a mild winter that quietly fills the villas, two or three dated peaks and a hot summer, and the dates are worth knowing before the aircraft is chosen.
Why the busy weeks cost more
Not the flying. A jet for Almeria is usually positioned in from Malaga, Madrid or further afield, so a busy week means fewer aircraft to choose from, but the real shortage is rooms. The country hotels in the natural park are small, and a Holy Week or August booking competes with the Spanish holiday demand. Outside Holy Week and the second half of August, Almeria is one of the easier Spanish airports to charter into, and a flight can often be arranged in a day or two. A festival like the one at Mojacar adds a different pressure: parking and taxis in a municipality of about 7,000 people.
Cabo de Gata-Nijar: what a private client needs to know
The park is the reason most people ask for a quote. It covers about 460 square kilometres of coast and dry hills, with a marine reserve of about 120 square kilometres off the shore, and it carries several international designations: a UNESCO biosphere reserve, a UNESCO global geopark and a Ramsar-listed salt flat where flamingos feed. Rainfall averages about 156 mm a year, and the park has a hot desert climate, said to be the only one of its kind in Europe.
The base is usually San Jose, a small fishing port in the middle of the park, with Los Escullos, Rodalquilar, Agua Amarga and Las Negras on either side. Beaches worth the drive include Genoveses, an unbuilt stretch about 2 km from the San Jose marina, and Monsul, a small cove that appears in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Rodalquilar was a gold-mining village until the middle of the last century, and the abandoned workings have served as a film set. We plan the road from the airport, about 34 km and 40 minutes, and the driver for the beach days at the same time as the flight.
Almeria itself: the Alcazaba, the tunnels and the tapas
The city is easy to cover in a day. The Alcazaba, begun in the tenth century under Abd al-Rahman III, is one of the largest Moorish citadels in Spain, with three walled enclosures and a Christian castle added by the Catholic Monarchs on the highest ground. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, closed on Mondays, and is free for citizens of the European Union with a token charge for other visitors. The cathedral below it was built like a fortress to resist pirate raids. Beneath the streets runs a network of Civil War air-raid shelters more than 4 km long, partly restored and open on guided tours only, so book ahead. At the harbour stands the Cable Ingles, an iron pier once used to load ore onto ships, a favourite place at sunset.
Tapas are the other half of the day. Almeria is one of the Spanish cities where a tapa still arrives with the drink, and you choose it yourself, so tell the waiter your pick when the glasses land. The old bar Casa Puga on Calle Jovellanos has been serving since the nineteenth century, the same street holds Jovellanos and other busy counters, and the old town around the Plaza Vieja and Calle Marin is where most of the walking from bar to bar happens. The city has been named Spain's capital of gastronomy and the local specialities include the raf tomato, grilled octopus, tortilla and croquettes. Lunch is from 1 to 3 in the afternoon and the weekend evening starts after 8.
The Tabernas desert, the film sets and the solar platform
About 30 km north of the city the hills open into the Tabernas desert, a 280 square kilometre badland of dry gullies that stood in for the American West in the Spaghetti Westerns. More than 300 films have been shot here since the late 1950s. Three western towns still operate for visitors: Fort Bravo, about 22 km from Almeria, the Oasys Mini Hollywood park a few kilometres further on, and Western Leone beside it. Sergio Leone shot A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and Once Upon a Time in the West in this country, and later productions, among them Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Black Mirror, have used the same landscape. The desert is often called the only one in Europe, with the qualifier that most of its area, not all of it, has a desert climate.
The other draw in Tabernas is the Plataforma Solar de Almeria, described as the largest concentrating-solar research and test centre in Europe and run by the Spanish research body CIEMAT, with fields of mirrors, a central receiver tower and solar furnaces. It has opened to visitors on guided tours of around an hour and a half, booked in advance with the centre, which are worth fitting into a morning before the film sets. The platform, a western town and lunch in the village of Tabernas fit comfortably into one day.
Mojacar, San Jose and Roquetas: which base for which party
Pick the base before the aircraft, because the three are an hour or more apart.
- San Jose and the park. Quiet, small, close to the beaches and about 40 minutes from the airport. The right base for walkers, divers and families who want a house with a pool, and the one most affected by summer parking limits;
- Mojacar. A white village on a hill above a beach resort, about an hour and ten minutes from the airport, with an artists' colony and the Indalo, the little figure that appears on its house fronts. Livelier than the park, with a Parador on the sand and the June festival;
- Roquetas de Mar and Aguadulce. The large resort strip west of the city, 35 minutes from the airport and built for families, with big hotels, a marina at Aguadulce and little of the park's solitude;
- Almeria city. The right choice for a weekend that is about food, history and the Alcazaba, and a good first night after a late flight.
Skiing from Almeria: the Sierra Nevada transfer
The Sierra Nevada ski station is in the mountains behind Granada, and Almeria lies on the far side of the range. The road from the airport to Pradollano is about 209 km and a little over two hours, against about an hour from Granada airport, so for a ski week we normally fly to Granada and keep Almeria for parties who are also staying on the coast. The season normally runs from early December to late April or early May, helped by snowmaking, the base station is at about 2,100 m and the lifts reach almost 3,400 m. Ski bags usually call for a midsize cabin, and the road transfer is arranged with the handler.
Ways to bring the Almeria price down
- Avoid the fair fortnight and Holy Week where you can. Mid-week in March, May and early November is calm, the weather is good and the hotels have rooms;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Malaga, Madrid or Palma needs less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a real share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the villa week.
Types of flights
Almeria produces a different mix from the glossier Spanish destinations. It is a place people go to be left alone, to walk, to dive and to eat, and the bookings reflect it.
- Villa weeks in the natural park, flown out on a Saturday and back the following Saturday;
- Weekends in Mojacar, often built around the June festival or a wedding;
- Film and production work in Tabernas, with crew and equipment on board;
- Business visits to the solar platform and to the greenhouse agriculture that dominates the local economy;
- Winter stays of several weeks, when the aircraft is booked for the arrival and the departure only;
- Day trips from London, which at about two and a half hours each way make a long but workable day for the Alcazaba and a late lunch.
The day trip deserves a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and the waiting is paid for, but it comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. The catch is the airport day: the return must leave inside the published hours, and we plan the evening departure well within them so that a long dinner does not decide the outcome.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Almeria corridor they follow the pattern of holidays and events, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Almeria empty legs come from
– Weekend and week-long villa trips. An aircraft brings a party in on a Saturday and leaves empty, so the leg back towards Britain or Madrid on the Sunday or Monday is the one most often offered;
– The fair and Holy Week. A party flies in, the jet returns to its base or moves on to the next job without anyone aboard, and the repositioning leg is released a day or two beforehand;
– Andalusian rotation. Operators moving aircraft between Almeria, Granada, Malaga and the islands in spring and summer produce short legs that can be cheap.
Because the Almeria corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag an Almeria match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Almeria a helicopter is a tool for the edges of the trip. The old town is a short drive from the airport, and the journeys where rotary flight changes the day are the ones to a house in the park, a hotel on the coast and a low flight over the desert and the salt flats.
helicopters are treated like fixed-wing aircraft and use runway 07/25; when the wind is 10 knots or more, air traffic control may authorise taxiway T2coordinated by the handler
about 34 km from the airport; a landing in a protected park needs the site and the permission agreed before the quoteon request
about 86 km up the coast, for a hotel lawn or a private beach houseon request
in the hills behind the coast, subject to an authorised landing siteon request
by arrangement with the operator, with a route clear of the airport zoneon request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter in Spain cannot land wherever it likes. A hotel lawn, a beach house or a cortijo needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after, and we do not promise a site until the operator has accepted it;
– Wind and visibility set the schedule. A helicopter can be stopped on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– The machines normally come from elsewhere in Andalusia, so a repositioning charge belongs in the budget, and for August and Holy Week the helicopter should be booked together with the jet.
The machines used in this region are the Airbus H125 for short coastal work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Almeria charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
VILLA WEEK · CABO DE GATA
A house near San Jose for seven nights
Farnborough - Almeria and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min each way · 4 pax
The party first asked for a light jet and then added golf clubs and a pair of diving cases, so the quote moved to a midsize cabin. The handler arranged a minibus for the road to the park, and the return was set for the middle of the afternoon to keep well clear of the airport closing time.
MOJACAR · THE JUNE FESTIVAL
A wedding weekend in the white village
London Luton - Almeria, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 35 min · 6 pax
The village fills for the Moors and Christians weekend, so rooms were held before the aircraft was priced. The guests landed on the Friday, drove up the coast in two cars and left on Monday. Taxis and parking in the village were the tight points, not the flight.
TABERNAS · A PRODUCTION DAY
A small film crew and equipment for the desert
Biggin Hill - Almeria, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 35 min · 7 pax
The cases went into the hold of a midsize aircraft, and the crew drove to the western town in vehicles arranged with the handler. Departure was brought forward so that the aircraft left in daylight and inside the hours of the airport.
AUTUMN · A DOG ON BOARD
Two adults, a teenager and a spaniel in October
Southampton - Almeria, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min · 3 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Almeria for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. The country house was checked for animals before the aircraft was booked. The dog took the cabin in its stride.
ISLAND HOP · ACROSS THE SEA
From the park to a weekend in Ibiza
Almeria - Ibiza, Pilatus PC-12, one leg of a five-day trip · 6 pax
The clients flew in from Britain on a light jet, spent three days on the coast and moved on to the island on the Saturday. A turboprop was cheaper for the sea crossing than a second jet, and holding the Almeria leg and the island leg as one booking meant the aircraft and crew were already in place.
EMPTY LEG · MONDAY MORNING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Almeria - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a villa party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Monday morning departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Almeria
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Almeria?
About 2 hours 40 minutes from Southampton or Farnborough in a light jet and 2 hours 45 from Biggin Hill or London City, covering roughly 882 to 922 nautical miles. Bristol and Cardiff are 2 hours 30 in a Phenom, Birmingham and Manchester 2 hours 45 to 2 hours 55, and Edinburgh or Glasgow about 3 h 10 min in a Challenger. Almeria is one hour ahead of Britain, so a morning departure lands later on the clock than in the air.
2How much does a private jet to Almeria cost?
From about £12,000 one way on a light jet out of Southampton and £12,250 from Farnborough. An eight-seat Phenom runs £12,300 to £12,700 from Bristol, Cardiff and Luton, a midsize Citation XLS+ £16,250 to £17,050 from Birmingham and Manchester, and from Scotland allow about £24,050. Holy Week, the late-August fair and the school holiday weeks run above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Almeria?
Almeria (LEI / LEAM) for almost every trip. It is about 9 km east of the city, has a single 3,165 m runway, and handling is compulsory for flights from Britain. Customs and immigration follow the aerodrome hours, which convert to about 07:10 to 22:45 local time. Malaga (AGP / LEMG), open round the clock and about 214 km away by road, is the usual alternative, with Granada (GRX / LEGR) and Murcia (RMU / LEMI) as regional options.
4How far is Almeria airport from Cabo de Gata, Mojacar and the Sierra Nevada?
Cabo de Gata-Nijar natural park is about 34 km and 40 minutes from the airport, Roquetas de Mar about 41 km, and Mojacar about 86 km and an hour and ten minutes. The Sierra Nevada ski station is about 209 km, a little over two hours, so skiers are usually better served by Granada airport, which is about an hour from the lifts.
5When should I book a private jet to Almeria?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. Allow several weeks for Holy Week, the late-August fair and the Mojacar festival in June, and book the country hotel first, because small houses in the natural park have only a handful of rooms. A flight into Almeria has to be planned inside the airport hours, and we confirm the handler before sending a price.
6Can I take my dog to Almeria on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Spain asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
