Private jet charter in Riga
A jet that leaves a London airfield at breakfast time lands in Riga around lunch, two hours ahead of British clocks, and what matters after that is the shape of the trip: a meeting in the Old Town, a week on the Jūrmala beaches, or a leg that carries on to Tallinn or Vilnius. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whichever of those it is. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Riga has one 3,200 m runway, two business aviation handlers and an airport that is listed as open round the clock, so the real decisions are the date, the cabin size and where the trip goes after landing.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Riga depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London City, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Riga?
Two and a half hours is the working figure from the London fields, plus two hours of clock difference to put on your watch on arrival, because Latvia keeps Eastern European time and changes its clocks on the same dates as Britain. At 899 to 1,048 nautical miles this is the long end of short-haul: the longest sector most clients will fly in a light jet, and the point where many of them are happier in a midsize cabin. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Riga a little before noon local time, since Latvia is two hours ahead of Britain. The airport is in Mārupe, about 10 km west of the centre, so the Old Town is a short drive away, typically 25 minutes or so outside the rush hour. Add the drive to the British airfield and the quick processing at both ends and the whole journey from central London to central Riga comes to roughly five hours, where a scheduled connection tends to take most of a working day.
Light jet or midsize: the question that actually comes up on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is a fair answer and the saving is real. But the sector runs to two and a half hours or more, and the way home is westbound, usually into a headwind, so we quote a midsize cabin beside it for anyone who values the legroom;
– Past four people, or with camera cases, sports kit, a pushchair or a dog, the midsize jet stops being a luxury and becomes the sensible quote. A family heading for a Jūrmala summer carries more than a business team of the same size;
– A heavy jet makes sense for a big party, for one aircraft that follows you round a Baltic loop of Tallinn, Vilnius and Riga, or for a trip in which Riga is only the first of several stops.

Riga is a natural starting point for a Baltic loop. Tallinn and Vilnius are close enough for a turboprop, Helsinki is a single sea crossing, and Stockholm, Warsaw, Copenhagen and Berlin are jet sectors that fit inside a morning. Typical one-way prices:

The Baltics from the air: when a turboprop beats the road
Tallinn is 158 nautical miles from Riga and Vilnius 150, so a Pilatus PC-12 covers either in about an hour, and all three Baltic capitals are inside the Schengen area, which means no passport control between them. Tallinn has a runway of 3,480 m, the longest in the Baltic states, together with a general aviation terminal and a business aviation hangar complex; Vilnius has a single 2,515 m runway about 6 km south of the centre. Helsinki at 215 nautical miles is the sector that turns up when a Baltic trip is combined with Finland, and the crossing of the Gulf of Finland is short. A Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius loop arranged as one trip costs noticeably less than three separate charters, because the aircraft and crew stay with you.
Before you accept a Baltic onward quote
– Check the airport named at the far end. Stockholm and Berlin each have more than one business airport, and a quote that gives only the city name will be revised once the real field is chosen;
– Check whether the legs are one booking. Three days across Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius cost less as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of returning to Riga between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Riga:
Light jets, for a short and light party
At two and a half hours this is a long sit for a light cabin, so it suits three or four people with modest bags. Nothing here lacks the range for Riga, so the money goes on the hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for the Jūrmala summer and the business team
A family with a fortnight of beach luggage, or a team carrying presentation kit and a laptop for each person, is what pushes a booking past the light-jet hold.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that works in the air, and for trips that carry on from Riga to Scandinavia or the Gulf rather than turning round.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Baltic hops: Tallinn and Vilnius are about an hour in the air, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the Jūrmala coast, a villa or hotel lawn with no runway, and the Gulf of Riga seen from above. Where a helicopter may land is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Riga sits at the north-eastern edge of the European fleet, so outside the festival weeks there is often an aircraft already within an hour or so of the airport, in Tallinn, Vilnius, Warsaw or Helsinki, and that is frequently where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Riga
One airport does the work. The other names that turn up on a quote deserve a second look before you accept them, because two of them are in another country and one is not an airport at all.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Riga International, Mārupe RIX / EVRA |
The answer for every jet trip. About 10 km west of the centre, with a single runway, 18/36, of 3,200 by 45 metres and an ILS approach, so nothing we send is limited by length. Listed as open round the clock. Business aviation has its own centre in the northern part of the airfield, served by two handlers, Capital Handling and FBO Riga, and both sell Jet A-1. Slots are typically required and handling is typically compulsory |
| Riga Spilve EVRS |
Riga's older airfield, about 5 km north of the centre, with one asphalt runway of 1,650 m. Today it is given over to training and club flying, and it is not a field we plan jet charters around. It appears in listings of Riga airports and is worth recognising so that a quote naming it can be queried |
| Tallinn TLL / EETN |
The Estonian alternative, about 5 km south-east of the centre of Tallinn and 158 nautical miles from Riga. A 3,480 m runway, the longest in the Baltic states, and a general aviation terminal. It earns its place when the trip is really to Estonia, or as one end of a Baltic loop |
| Vilnius VNO / EYVI |
The Lithuanian alternative, about 6 km south of the centre of Vilnius and 150 nautical miles from Riga, with a single runway of 2,515 m. The same logic as Tallinn: land there when the meeting is there, and treat the Riga leg as a short border-free hop |
| Jūrmala no airport |
The resort west of Riga has no airfield of its own. Its central district, Majori, is about 18 km from Riga International, so the plan is to land at Riga and drive, or to fly on by helicopter. A quote that lists Jūrmala as an airport is a quote to query |
Four points settle most Riga arrivals:
Choose the handler
Riga's business aviation centre has two handlers, Capital Handling and FBO Riga, both listed as open round the clock. Capital Handling lists VIP passenger service, limousines, hotel and catering arrangements and de-icing; FBO Riga holds the IS-BAH business aviation handler accreditation. Prices and ramp services differ, so we ask the operator for its preference and confirm the handler in writing before you pay.
Hours, slots and noise
Riga is listed as open round the clock, with the tower manned throughout, so a late departure after a dinner or an early return is possible. Slots are typically required and handling is typically compulsory. For a night movement or an older jet we check the noise rules and confirm the permission in writing first.
Border and passport
Latvia is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you pass passport control and customs on arrival, normally inside the business aviation terminal. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport under ten years old and valid three months beyond the day you leave. On a first visit the border may ask for a photograph and fingerprints.
Car and late nights
Give us the handler as well as the flight, because a driver told only airport may wait at the wrong door. For Midsummer, the festival weekends and the Christmas market period, put the late car and crew in the quote from the start, and for Jūrmala remember that the resort asks cars to buy an entry pass between April and September.

Border, passport and the way home
Because Latvia is inside Schengen, the first landing is where the formalities happen, and everything after that, a hop to Tallinn or a drive to Jūrmala, is free of border control. The way home runs the other way: Britain treats the aircraft as arriving from abroad, so a General Aviation Report is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and passengers pass the border at the British airfield. Visitors who need no visa for Britain still need an Electronic Travel Authorisation unless they are British or Irish citizens. We file the paperwork; you bring passports that are in date.

From the apron to the Old Town
Riga is a compact capital on the Daugava river, close to the Gulf of Riga, and you reach it from the airport in the time it takes to read a briefing. The distances that matter run west along the coast to Jūrmala and out across the border to the neighbouring capitals.
about 10 km west of the city, which is why one airport carries all the jet traffictypically 25 minutes
about 18 km by the A10/E22 motorway; a seasonal entry pass applies to cars from April to Septembertypically 25 to 40 minutes
the resort sits about 25 km from the centre, on the line along the coast30 to 33 minutes

Flying to Riga with a dog or a cat
For a pet the paperwork is the part of a Latvian trip that needs planning, and the flight is the easy bit: the animal sits beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a sector this short most simply sleep. The date on the health certificate is the detail to get right, since it lasts ten days from the day it is issued.

What Latvia, as an EU country, asks for:
- An ISO microchip that can be read with a standard scanner, fitted before the rabies vaccination. Latvia's food and veterinary service states that a vaccination given before the chip must be repeated;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry, and boosters kept on schedule;
- No blood test for rabies antibodies when travelling from Britain, which Latvia lists among the countries exempt from it;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate, with the owner's declaration that the journey is not commercial. A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, with the documents and the chip checked by customs at a travellers' point of entry, which our handler arranges at the terminal;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Riga run
– Latvia asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in, only Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Riga or Jūrmala towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a Monday-morning flight needs a visit that falls before the weekend closes the clinics;
– The order of the chip and the vaccine matters. Latvian rules say a vaccination given before the microchip has to be repeated, and an animal that arrives without a valid certificate may be refused entry, isolated or sent back at the owner's expense;
– A summer in Jūrmala with a dog is an ordinary booking. Settle the hotel and any onward helicopter before the quote, because each one has to accept the animal separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the flight home, we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.
The Riga calendar: a Baltic capital with a festival summer
Riga's year has a clear shape. Summer is the Jūrmala coast and a string of music festivals around Midsummer, autumn belongs to film and music weeks, and the winter is the Christmas market. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a festival week costs more
The aircraft are not the scarce item. Riga has a single runway, a modest apron and a short list of good cars and rooms between the city and Jūrmala, and in Midsummer week or around the Song and Dance Festival all of them are wanted together. Ask for a jet a fortnight before and you will probably get one, flown over from Tallinn, Vilnius or Warsaw and priced to match; ask five or six weeks ahead and the same trip is simpler and cheaper. Away from those dates Riga is an easy capital to charter into, often in a day or two, though a cold morning means allowing time for de-icing.
Ways to bring the Riga price down
- Shift the dates by a few days if the diary allows. The week after Midsummer is calmer than Midsummer week itself, and so is November before the Christmas market opens;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. Aircraft that already sit in Tallinn, Vilnius or Warsaw cost less to bring over than one flown out from Britain, and on a sector this long the positioning is a visible slice of the invoice;
- Take the light jet only when the party and the bags are small. Three people with cabin bags save real money in a CJ3+; six people with hold luggage do not, and the quote that looks cheap on paper is often the one that changes.
Types of flights
Riga produces a different mix from the Alpine or the Mediterranean destinations we cover, because the city is a Baltic business centre in the week and a resort on the weekend.
- Business and finance travel, with fixed meeting dates, a small team and a request to be back in Britain the same evening;
- Beach and villa weeks in Jūrmala from June to August, mostly families and groups of friends;
- Festival and concert weekends, from the Opera Festival and Midsummer to the Song and Dance Festival, when the party travels to a date set by the programme;
- Baltic loops that put Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius into one itinerary, often with Helsinki added;
- City breaks and Christmas market weekends, usually four people or fewer and sometimes a dog;
- Day trips from London, which at two and a half hours each way are a long day but a workable one.
Riga stretches the day trip to its limit. Wheels up at seven, on the ground before noon local time, and off again at six in the evening gives you about six hours in the city and puts you back in Britain around seven. The crew sits out the meetings at the business aviation centre and that waiting time is charged, yet the total is usually below two one-way charters, and we price the route both ways so you can compare.
Empty Legs
Some jets cross the Baltic with nobody aboard, moving to their next job, and the operator will sell that seat-free leg cheaply rather than fly it for nothing. That is an empty leg. On the Riga route the supply follows the festival calendar more than the working week.
Where Riga empty legs come from
– Festival and Midsummer weekends. Aircraft bring guests in for a villa week or a concert and leave empty a day later, and that evening leg back towards London or Warsaw is the one most often offered;
– Christmas market weekends. Small parties arrive on the Friday and the aircraft goes home empty, which produces an outbound leg on the Friday or Saturday;
– Baltic rotation. Operators positioning between Tallinn, Vilnius, Helsinki and Warsaw put short regional legs on the market, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the Baltic corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Riga match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Riga a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The Old Town is small enough to cross by car or on foot, and the place where rotary flight changes the journey is the Jūrmala coast, with its 24 km of coast along the Gulf of Riga.
about 18 km, against 25 to 40 minutes by road with the entry pass and the summer traffictypically 10 minutes
the Old Town, the Daugava and the bridges, from the airtypically 30 minutes
about 24 km of coast, with sandy beaches and pine forest, along the Gulf of Rigatypically 20 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– Rotary flight is limited by where it may set down. A landing away from an aerodrome needs an agreed site and the landowner's consent, so we check the status of a hotel lawn or a villa garden before the quote is written;
– Baltic weather sets the schedule. Fog, low cloud and winter snow can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For Midsummer and the Song and Dance Festival, book the helicopter together with the jet, or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines on this ground are the Airbus H125 for coastal work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Riga charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A working day in Riga and home for the evening
Biggin Hill - Riga and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min each way · 4 pax
Four people left a London airfield at seven, landed a little before noon local time and went straight into an afternoon of meetings in the centre. The aircraft stayed on the ground at the business aviation centre with its crew, and that wait was a line in the quote, but the total was still lower than two one-way charters. Home by seven. A long day that does the job.
MIDSUMMER · A VILLA WEEK AT THE COAST
Six friends and a house in Jūrmala
Farnborough - Riga, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 30 min · 6 pax
They chose the Midsummer week without knowing that many Riga residents leave the city for it. The villa was the saving grace; the handler confirmed the slot with the outbound and the car was waiting at the aircraft door, with the resort entry pass already arranged. A booking made earlier would have cost less, and we said so.
CONFERENCE WEEK · FIXED DATES
A finance team for three days of meetings
London Luton - Riga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 30 min · 8 pax
The dates were set by the meetings and not by the client. Eight people, laptops, printed folders and a request for a car at the aircraft door. The booking went in six weeks ahead, the handler pre-arranged the passport check at the terminal, and the aircraft left Luton on time with nothing to explain.
BALTIC LOOP · ONE BOOKING
Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius in three days
London City - Riga - Tallinn - Vilnius - London City, Citation XLS+ · 6 pax
Three capitals, three meetings and one aircraft that stayed with the party. Passport control happened once, on the first landing at Riga, and the two hops between the capitals were border-free. Quoted as three separate charters it came out well above the single booking, because the crew would have repositioned to Riga between each stop.
CHRISTMAS MARKET · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a December weekend
Southampton - Riga, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Riga for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Riga - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 25 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Riga
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Riga?
About 2 hours 35 minutes from London City and 2 hours 40 minutes from Biggin Hill in a light jet, and around 2 hours 25 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes from Luton or Farnborough in a Phenom, covering roughly 930 to 966 nautical miles. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 35 minutes in a midsize cabin, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 25 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes. Riga is two hours ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before noon local time.
2How much does a private jet to Riga cost?
From about £12,550 one way on a light jet out of London City, and £12,650 from Biggin Hill. A Phenom from Luton or Farnborough runs £12,600 to £13,000, a midsize cabin costs £16,050 from Birmingham and £17,000 from Bristol, and from Scotland allow £19,500 to £20,150. Midsummer, the Song and Dance Festival and the Christmas market weekends price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Riga?
Riga International at Mārupe (RIX / EVRA) for every jet trip. It is about 10 km west of the centre, listed as open round the clock, and has a single 3,200 m runway and a business aviation centre with two handlers, Capital Handling and FBO Riga. Slots are typically required and handling typically compulsory. Tallinn (TLL / EETN) and Vilnius (VNO / EYVI) are alternatives only when the trip is really to Estonia or Lithuania, and Jūrmala has no airport at all.
4When should I book a private jet to Riga?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For Midsummer around 23 June, the Opera Festival fortnight in June, the Song and Dance Festival in July and the Christmas market weekends, allow four to six weeks. Slots, apron space, hotels and cars all get tight in the same days, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another city.
5Can I fly on from Riga to Tallinn, Vilnius or Jūrmala?
Tallinn is 158 nautical miles from Riga and Vilnius 150, so a Pilatus PC-12 does either in about an hour, with no passport control between the Baltic capitals. Jūrmala has no airport: Majori is about 18 km from Riga International, a drive of typically 25 to 40 minutes, or about 10 minutes by helicopter. Helsinki is 215 nautical miles away and about 1 h 10 min in a turboprop.
6Can I take my dog to Riga on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Latvia, as an EU country, asks for a microchip fitted before the rabies vaccination, a vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. No rabies blood test is needed from Britain. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
