Private jet charter in Japan
Private Jets UK flies clients from Britain to Japan, one of the longest runs we quote from these islands at over five thousand nautical miles, where the airport closest to Tokyo hands out about sixteen business aviation slots a day. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. The aircraft we put on Japanese routes are the long-range ones based at the London fields and at Edinburgh, and the northern departures are worth asking about on this route in particular.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Japan depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: departure from Edinburgh Airport, a Bombardier Global 6000, two passengers. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Japan?
These are the private jet figures gate to gate, from the shortest crossing to the longest:
4,620 nautical miles, the shortest way into Japan from Britainabout 10 h
5,000 nautical milesabout 10 h 45 min
5,091 nautical milesabout 10 h 55 min
5,157 nautical miles from Luton and 5,177 from Biggin Hillabout 11 h 05 min
5,227 nautical miles, the longest of the Tokyo departuresabout 11 h 15 min
5,383 nautical miles from Luton, the longest run on this pageabout 11 h 30 min
Why the cheapest line sits at the top of the table
Edinburgh to Sapporo and Bristol to Tokyo differ by 607 nautical miles, which on a sector of this length is over an hour in the air and, more usefully, a different set of aircraft on the quote. The great circle from Britain to Japan runs north over Scandinavia and Siberia rather than east, so the further north the departure field, the shorter the flight. Where a party can start from Edinburgh, Glasgow or the north of England, it is worth pricing both.
The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

Two things worth knowing about these figures
– There is no heavy jet on this table because none of them reach. Luton to Tokyo is 5,157 nautical miles, and a Challenger 605 or a Legacy 650 runs out of range more than a thousand miles short;
– Seven of these fourteen lines land somewhere other than Tokyo, because a Japanese booking is as often about Osaka, Sapporo or the southern islands as about the capital.
Private jet flights within Japan
These sectors are flown on Japanese-registered aircraft rather than the one that brought you, because a foreign tail may not be sold a domestic Japanese leg. We arrange both halves as one booking:

| Tokyo (HND) - Okinawa (OKA) 839 nm / 1,554 km |
Global 5000 up to 13 |
about 2 h 05 min | from 31,800 EUR |
Two things worth knowing about these sectors
– Japan is long rather than wide. Tokyo to Okinawa is 839 nautical miles, further than London to Rome, while Tokyo to Osaka is 218 and quicker than the train once you count the ground time;
– Slots are required at every major Japanese airport, so a domestic leg added on the day is the one request we cannot always meet. Booked with the crossing, it is routine.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:
- Large jet (similar to Legacy 600) - from 5800 to 6800 EUR per flight hour;
- Business liners - from 12100 EUR per flight hour;
- Light jet - from 2500 to 3500 EUR per flight hour;
- Long-haul jet (similar to Global 5000, Gulfstream G550, Falcon 7X, etc.) - from 6800 to 10400 EUR per flight hour;
- Medium-sized jet (identical to Cessna Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP, etc.) - from 3500 to 4400 EUR per flight hour;
- Turboprops - from 1000 EUR per flight hour.
- Large medium-class jet (similar to Challenger 300, etc.) - from 5400 to 6500 EUR per flight hour;
- Small jet, from 2000 to 2900 EUR per flight hour;

Also, we have prepared a table with the general prices of the most popular planes:

Ultra-long range
The only class that reaches Japan from Britain without stopping. Every line in the price table above uses one of these.

Business aviation airports in Japan
An international private flight may only arrive at a designated port of entry, and the list is shorter than the number of airports suggests. These are the ones a private jet from Britain to Japan actually uses:
| Airport | Ground | How it operates |
|---|---|---|
| Tokyo Haneda HND / RJTT |
18 km to central Tokyo | Two parallel runway pairs and a business aviation terminal on the west side. The closest field to Tokyo by a wide margin, and the hardest to get into, for reasons set out below |
| Tokyo Narita NRT / RJAA |
67 km to central Tokyo | A 4,000 metre runway and a dedicated general aviation ramp, an hour from the city by the expressway. The alternative when Haneda will not work, and the note below explains when that is |
| Osaka Kansai KIX / RJBB |
38 km to Osaka | The international gateway for Osaka, Kyoto and Nara, with a 4,000 metre runway and full business handling. Parking here is capped at roughly seventy-two hours in the peak weeks |
| Osaka Itami ITM / RJOO |
12 km to Osaka | Much closer to the city than Kansai, and the field a Japanese-registered aircraft uses for the domestic leg once you have cleared customs elsewhere |
| Kobe UKB / RJBE |
26 km to Osaka | A full FBO and a quiet field, but customs here needs fourteen working days of notice, which rules it out for anything arranged at short order |
| Nagoya Chubu NGO / RJGG |
the industrial centre | Operating hours of 07:00 to 22:00 and the practical arrival for Toyota City and the manufacturing belt |
| Sapporo New Chitose CTS / RJCC |
50 km to Sapporo | A designated port of entry, nearly four hundred miles closer to Britain than Tokyo, and the arrival for Niseko and the ski season |
| Fukuoka and Okinawa FUK and OKA |
the south | Fukuoka is the gateway to Kyushu and the closest major field to Korea; Okinawa sits eight hundred miles further south again and works as a resort arrival |
Sixteen business aviation slots a day, for the whole of Haneda
Haneda is eighteen kilometres from central Tokyo and open around the clock, and everyone who flies here asks for it first. The constraint is not the runway but the diary: general aviation slot availability is set at roughly sixteen movements a day for the entire airport, and parking is limited and short-stay besides. Slots can sometimes be arranged at a day or two of notice, and in the cherry blossom weeks they cannot be arranged at all without booking well ahead. Narita is sixty-seven kilometres out and has a night curfew, but the slots are obtainable, the parking is easier and nobody minds if the aircraft sits for a week. The choice is genuinely between thirty minutes of driving and a great deal of certainty, and for a stay of more than two or three days we usually recommend Narita and say why.
The furthest we fly, and it shows in the aircraft column
Luton to Tokyo is 5,157 nautical miles, which is further than Los Angeles, further than Vancouver and more than one and a half times the distance to Dubai. Nothing below an ultra-long-range cabin reaches it, and that is why the table above starts where other pages on this site finish. The corollary is that the departure field earns its keep: Edinburgh is 5,000 nautical miles from Tokyo and Bristol 5,227, and Sapporo from Edinburgh is 4,620, which is a shorter flight than London to Los Angeles. Where a party can start from Edinburgh or Glasgow, the aircraft that fits the budget changes.
Which arrival for which part of Japan
Japan is long, the private jet arrival fields are few, and the choice is usually made by the length of the stay rather than the map:
eighteen kilometres in, if the slot and the parking are confirmedHaneda
the aircraft can sit, which at Haneda it largely cannotNarita
the international field for the Kansai region, and an hour to KyotoKansai
twelve kilometres from the city, against thirty-eight from KansaiItami
an hour and a half from the slopes, and the aircraft can waitSapporo
the weeks when Haneda stops being a realistic requestNarita, and book early
Three things that shape a Japanese booking
– Everything is booked rather than arranged on the day. Slots, parking, customs officers and ground handling are all confirmed in advance, and a change inside seventy-two hours can require the whole set to be reapproved;
– Cherry blossom in late March and April and the Golden Week holidays at the start of May are the two windows that need months rather than weeks of notice;
– A trip that takes in Tokyo and then Hokkaido or Okinawa is planned as two aircraft rather than one, and we quote it that way from the outset rather than discovering the rule later.

Flying to Japan with a dog or a cat
This is the strictest destination on the site for an animal, and the penalty for getting it wrong is measured in months rather than hours.
The one fact to read before you book
Japan requires a rabies antibody titre test, a waiting period of one hundred and eighty days from the date that blood was drawn, and advance notification to the quarantine service at least forty days before arrival. If any part of that is missing or mistimed, the animal is quarantined on landing for as long as six months. This is not a formality that a good handler can smooth over on the day. Start the process seven months before the trip, not seven weeks, and let us put you in touch with a vet who has done it before. Coming home to Britain is ordinary by comparison: an Animal Health Certificate within ten days and the usual tapeworm treatment for dogs. Where the timeline does not work, we say so plainly rather than take the booking and hope.
- An ISO-standard microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination rather than after;
- Two rabies vaccinations, the second at least thirty days after the first;
- A rabies antibody titre test at an approved laboratory, then a one hundred and eighty day wait;
- Advance notification to Japanese animal quarantine at least forty days before arrival;
- An Animal Health Certificate for the journey home, dated within ten days of travel.
On the aircraft itself none of this applies: there is no hold, no weight limit and no carrier requirement, so a large dog travels beside you exactly as a small one does. The crossing is eleven hours or more, which is long by any measure, and we plan water, a walk before boarding and a quiet corner accordingly. It is the paperwork rather than the flight that decides whether the animal comes.
the titre test and the wait that follows it set the whole schedulethe longest on this site
a separate filing from the paperwork, and easy to overlookforty days before arrival
the reason we check the dates ourselves rather than take them on trustquarantine on landing
a certificate within ten days and worming for dogsa fortnight is enough
Requirements for birds, rabbits and the less usual species, along with the countries where the timeline runs to months, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Types of flights
Our company provides all types of business flights. Due to a wide variety of jets, we can arrange:
- private flights;
- corporate flights;
- business class flights;
- concert tours;
- medical flights (with doctors and special equipment on board);
- tourist flights for large and small groups;
- sports charters for teams and coaching staff;
- combined flights (partly by business jet, and partly by helicopter);
- exclusive flights on luxury jets for businessmen, celebrities, and politicians;
- cargo flights, etc.
A flexible approach and a wide experience allow us to solve problems of any complexity. In 90% of cases, we manage to arrange urgent flights on the day of application. Japan is the destination where that matters least: slots, parking and customs are all booked in advance there, so a Japanese departure wants two weeks of notice rather than two days. We say so at the enquiry rather than at the aircraft.

Empty Legs
Another way to fly cheaper is to use Empty Legs. This service allows you to save on regular charter rates. As you know, part of the flights is one-way (for example, when the passenger flies from England to Japan). After the flight, the jet returns to its home base (for example, to London Farnborough airport) empty. Such flight is called “Empty Legs”. Empty leg flights can be as cheap as 50-75% off the standard charter price. This option is profitable for both the passengers and the charter companies. The clients can enjoy the services of business aviation at a very good price, while the airlines recoup part of the cost of fuel and jet maintenance.
It is almost impossible to find Empty Leg flights, as the information about them is stored in special databases available only to the aviation brokers and specialized companies. You should know that Empty Leg flights offer the same service as private jet charters. The passengers enjoy a 100% private jet flying experience. Services and flight conditions are discussed individually. We should note that our company cooperates with the world’s largest home bases, so we can offer our clients a wide choice of return flights. Just send a request to our manager who will help you find the best flight options. Please note that Empty Leg flights are sold out very quickly. To avoid such a problem, you can leave us a deposit, and we will contact you as soon as the flight of your choice becomes available. For additional information, check with the operators.
A selection of empty legs that have run on the Japanese routes recently. Dates are left off, since a leg lasts only until somebody claims it:
| Route | Aircraft | Capacity | Whole aircraft |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japan (Sapporo CTS) - UK (Edinburgh) | Dassault Falcon 7X | 14 seats | 70,600 EUR |
| UK (Edinburgh) - Japan (Tokyo HND) | Bombardier Global 6000 | 13 seats | 75,200 EUR |
| Japan (Tokyo NRT) - UK (London Stansted) | Dassault Falcon 8X | 14 seats | 80,600 EUR |
| UK (Manchester) - Japan (Osaka KIX) | Gulfstream G600 | 14 seats | 85,300 EUR |
| Japan (Tokyo HND) - UK (Birmingham) | Gulfstream G550 | 16 seats | 89,900 EUR |
| UK (London Gatwick) - Japan (Fukuoka FUK) | Gulfstream G650ER | 14 seats | 95,800 EUR |
| Japan (Tokyo HND) - UK (London Biggin Hill) | Bombardier Global 7500 | 14 seats | 102,500 EUR |
How to read those figures
– Each price is for the whole aircraft rather than per seat. A Global 7500 home from Haneda at 102,500 EUR carrying fourteen works out at about seven thousand three hundred a head for eleven hours;
– Set each line beside the same class in the first table. A Falcon 7X back from Sapporo at 70,600 EUR against 168,000 for a fresh charter is the saving in plain terms;
– These are rarer on the Japanese routes than on the Atlantic ones, simply because fewer aircraft make the crossing, so a month of flexibility is worth more here than a fortnight.

Jet Sharing
Today, Jet Sharing is just as popular as private jet charter. This service involves the joint rental of a business jet with other passengers (that is, the cost of the flight is divided equally between all passengers of a specific flight). This type of flight has become especially popular in the last few years. Many people like Jet Sharing because it allows you to enjoy all benefits of business aviation at favorable prices.
We should note that the number of passengers per Jet Sharing flight varies from 3 to 8, while the cost of the flight ranges from 1400 to 7100 euros on European sectors. A shared seat to Japan is a different order of figure entirely, and we quote it against the aircraft rather than from a price list. This way, you can get a comfortable flight on a business jet (and maybe even meet new business partners) at a very good price. You can check out the schedule of Jet Sharing flights by filling in the online form or contacting our operators by phone or WhatsApp.
Main advantages of this service:
- All privileges of business aviation, including the use of the business aviation terminal and the check-in 30 minutes before the flight, are retained;
- You can also use the services of the VIP Lounge (included in the price of the flight);
- No baggage restrictions;
- Affordable price: jet sharing is much cheaper than private jet charter;
- Pets can be carried directly in the aircraft cabin.
Our consultants will be happy to help you choose the best flight.

What our clients say about flying to Japan
A few words from people who have made these trips with us. First names only, and the wording is theirs.
THE SLOT
“They explained why Haneda was not on offer”
Luton to Tokyo · Falcon 8X · Rupert deV.
“I wanted Haneda, and what I got was a fast, friendly and accurate answer: there were no slots for those dates, and promising them would have been a lie. Narita instead, forty minutes more in the car, and the aircraft could sit there for the whole week. Another broker had guaranteed Haneda. I now understand how those guarantees end.”
FROM EDINBURGH
“Edinburgh instead of Luton changed the aircraft”
Edinburgh to Tokyo · Global 6000 · Malcolm F.
“I had never thought about the great circle. From Edinburgh to Tokyo is a hundred and fifty miles shorter, and that was enough to change what they could offer on the aircraft. We have flown with them twice now: from A to Z everything is done professionally, the communication is faultless, and these days I start from home.”
THE DOG
“Seven months of preparation for the labrador”
Stansted to Tokyo · Falcon 8X · Verity H.
“At the enquiry stage they told me something neither I nor my vet knew: Japan requires an antibody test and then a hundred and eighty days of waiting. I would have booked and been turned back at the border. From the very start they walked me through the whole process, which papers, which aircraft, which dates. We flew the following spring with the paperwork immaculate.”
SAPPORO
“The ski trip was cheaper than the city one”
Edinburgh to Sapporo · Falcon 7X · The Ansell party
“Niseko rather than Tokyo, and it turns out Sapporo is four hundred miles closer to Britain. The same aircraft, noticeably less money, and nobody had ever mentioned it to us before. For the family it was the discovery of this whole beautiful world of flying privately, for which we owe them a great deal.”
THE SECOND LEG
“A different aircraft for the Osaka leg”
Manchester to Osaka · Gulfstream G600 · Douglas W.
“I had assumed our jet would simply carry us on to Kyoto. It cannot: internal flights are for Japanese aircraft only, that is the rule. They had one arranged before I thought to ask, on a single invoice, and every question about the process and the paperwork was settled in advance. We simply did not have to worry about any of it.”
EMPTY LEG
“Home from Haneda at well under half”
Tokyo to Biggin Hill · Global 7500 · Cordelia M.
“They warned me that these legs come up less often on Japan than on New York. I gave them a month and it worked in the third week. Outstanding customer care and reliability: excellence shows itself in exactly these stories.”
Frequently asked questions about flying to Japan
1How much does a private jet from London to Tokyo cost?
From about 196,000 EUR one way from Luton on a Falcon 8X, and 244,000 EUR from Biggin Hill on a Global 7500. From Edinburgh the sector is shorter and starts around 179,000 EUR. Sapporo is the cheapest Japanese arrival from Britain at about 168,000 EUR out of Edinburgh.
2How long is the flight from London to Tokyo by private jet?
About eleven hours. Luton to Haneda is 5,157 nautical miles, which makes Japan the longest run we quote from Britain, further than Los Angeles or Vancouver. From Edinburgh it is 5,000 miles and a little under eleven hours.
3Which Tokyo airport do private jets use, Haneda or Narita?
Haneda if the slot is available, because it is eighteen kilometres from the city against sixty-seven for Narita. Business aviation slots at Haneda run to roughly sixteen a day for the whole airport and parking is short-stay, so for a visit of more than two or three days Narita is usually the better answer despite the drive.
4Can a private jet from Britain fly on to Osaka or Sapporo?
Not the same aircraft. A foreign-registered jet may not be sold a Japanese domestic sector, so internal legs are flown on Japanese-registered aircraft. We arrange both halves as a single booking, and the price table above shows the domestic sectors separately.
5What paperwork does a flight to Japan need?
Slots at the arrival airport, a landing permit for charter flights, and passenger details filed in advance by the handler. Arrival must be at a designated port of entry. None of it is difficult, but almost all of it is booked rather than arranged on the day, and changes inside seventy-two hours can mean the whole set has to be reapproved.
