Private Jet Charter to Johannesburg from the UK
Two airports serve Johannesburg and they are not interchangeable, so Private Jets UK settles that choice with clients before quoting an aircraft for the flight from Britain. Our customers have access to 6500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. For 15 years of successful work, we have established partnerships with the world’s largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you the most favorable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Johannesburg has the strongest business aviation infrastructure on the continent, with established operators, maintenance and two full private terminals. What it does not have is a resident fleet sized for the flight to Europe, so the long-range cabin comes from Britain or the Gulf and leaves again once you are down.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Johannesburg depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated based on the following data: a departure from London Luton, an Embraer Legacy 600 and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Johannesburg?
Ten and a half hours from London, flown in one leg. At about 4,921 nautical miles Johannesburg is the closest of the major South African cities to Britain, some three hundred nautical miles nearer than Cape Town, and that margin widens the choice of aircraft and narrows the price. There is no technical stop on this sector and no crew change on the ground:

The southbound leg is the easy half
Flying out is straightforward: a full cabin, plenty of runway at either end and a sector well inside the range of every aircraft in the table. The return is where the Highveld makes itself felt, because Johannesburg sits at over five and a half thousand feet and a fully fuelled departure for Europe on a hot afternoon is a very different calculation from the same aircraft leaving Luton. It is entirely routine and the runways here are built for it, but it is the reason we ask for your passenger and baggage numbers before quoting rather than after, and the reason a morning departure is sometimes worth more than it looks.
Two things that make this the easiest long-haul we sell
– No jet lag worth the name. Johannesburg is one hour ahead of Britain in our summer and two in our winter, so a client landing at breakfast can be in a Sandton boardroom by mid-morning and function properly;
– An overnight schedule that suits the trip. Out after dinner, in after breakfast, and the same in reverse coming home. Ten and a half hours spent asleep costs a great deal less of your week than ten and a half hours spent awake.

Prices for the private jet flights to Johannesburg
Recent trips from Britain, cheapest first, every one of them nonstop. Johannesburg prices below Cape Town for the simple reason that it is closer, and the gap is worth knowing if your itinerary could start at either end.

Private jet flights to Johannesburg from Europe and the Gulf
A good share of the traffic on this route does not start in Britain at all. Johannesburg is barely three and a half thousand nautical miles from the Gulf, which is closer than London is to Delhi, and that puts a whole class of midsize and large cabins into play that would never reach it from Europe. For anyone whose week already passes through Dubai, Geneva or Nice, it is worth pricing the southbound leg from there:

Why the Gulf changes the arithmetic here
From Riyadh or Doha the sector is around three and a quarter thousand nautical miles, which a Challenger 605 or a Legacy covers comfortably. Those aircraft cannot go anywhere near Johannesburg from London, so the departure point does not simply shave a few hours off the flight, it changes which fleet you are shopping in. The effect on the bill is larger than the distance alone suggests. It is not automatically the right answer, since positioning yourself to meet the aircraft can undo the saving, but on this route it is a calculation worth running rather than assuming.
Private jet flights from Johannesburg
This is the part of the trip that most clients underestimate. Johannesburg is the hub of southern Africa, and almost nothing that people come here for is actually in the city: the Kruger reserves are around an hour and a half by air, Botswana and the Victoria Falls are close behind, and the Cape is nearly seven hundred nautical miles away. The onward flight is not an afterthought, it is usually the reason for the trip.

The safari handover, and why it is a turboprop
Every few weeks somebody asks us to fly the jet that brought them from London straight on to a lodge, and the answer is always the same. The regional airports in that table take jets perfectly well; the lodge strips beyond them do not, being short, unpaved and often unlit, and the aircraft that uses those is a Pilatus PC-12 or a Caravan. That is not a step down but the correct tool: the turboprop lands at the lodge, where a ranger meets the aircraft, instead of at a commercial field two hours of dirt road away. Reckon on about ninety minutes in the air against four to five hours by car. The one thing to plan for is baggage, since these aircraft work to roughly twenty kilos a head in soft bags, and hard suitcases either follow by road or wait in Johannesburg until you come back for them.
Which reserve field, in one line each
– Nelspruit, also written Mbombela, is the gateway to the Sabi Sand and the southern private reserves, and the busiest of the three;
– Skukuza sits inside the Kruger itself and suits the central and southern camps;
– Hoedspruit serves the Timbavati, Thornybush and the northern Greater Kruger. Several lodges have their own strip and we fly straight to it where they do.
Where the trip crosses a border, into Botswana, Zimbabwe or Namibia, tell us at the enquiry stage: permits and aircraft registration matter more once you leave South African airspace, and they are set out on our South Africa page.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:
The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.

Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6500 business jets (about 3500 in Europe and 3000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can’t post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. The following jets currently operate on the Johannesburg route:
Nonstop from Britain, the value end
Johannesburg is close enough to the southern English fields that this class reaches it in one leg with a full cabin, which is not true of Cape Town on every airframe here. Most of our bookings land in this group, and from Scotland we check the loaded numbers before promising the shortest-legged of them.
Nonstop with room to spare
More range than the sector needs, which on a hot Highveld afternoon is worth having rather than showing off. These leave fully fuelled for Europe without a second thought.
From the Gulf
A class that cannot go near Johannesburg from London or from the Mediterranean, but covers it easily from Riyadh, Doha or Dubai at a little over three thousand miles. Worth pricing when your week already runs east.
Business liners
For mining and corporate parties above fifteen, for family groups travelling together and for the conference weeks. On an overnight sector a separate bedroom earns its place.
Onward from Johannesburg
The local fleet, and the aircraft that actually get you where you are going. The turboprops are the ones that land on a reserve strip; the jets cover the cities and the region.

This is a small part of what is available. Long-range cabins are sourced wherever they sit in Europe or the Gulf, and the South African fleet is booked on the ground here.

Business aviation airports in Johannesburg
Two, and unlike most cities with a pair the choice here is real. They sit on opposite sides of the metropolis, about twenty nautical miles apart, and they behave quite differently.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Lanseria HLA / FALA |
Privately owned and built around business aviation. Open around the clock with no curfew, no slot requirement, two established private terminals with their own maintenance, and short taxi times. It sits north-west of the city, on the right side for Sandton, Fourways, Midrand and Pretoria |
| O.R. Tambo JNB / FAOR |
Africa’s busiest airport, east of the city, with a dedicated private terminal and full clearance. Slots and parking approval are both required and both need requesting in advance. Two very long runways, and the Gautrain into Sandton and Pretoria from the door |
The numbers behind the choice
Lanseria for the arrival, O.R. Tambo when the departure is heavy
For most trips Lanseria is the better answer and we suggest it by default. No slot to negotiate, a short taxi, a private terminal that moves people through in minutes, and a location on the northern side of the city where most business and most good hotels actually are. There is a genuine counter-argument, though, and it is not the one people expect. Lanseria sits about a thousand feet lower than O.R. Tambo, which helps performance, but its single runway is roughly three thousand metres against O.R. Tambo’s four and a half thousand. For a large cabin leaving fully fuelled for Europe on a hot afternoon, that runway length can matter more than the thousand feet, and the calculation belongs to the operator rather than to a preference. Which gives a simple rule of thumb: Lanseria for the arrival and for most departures, O.R. Tambo when the aircraft is heavy, the day is hot, or a connection ties you to the main terminal.

Hot and high: what five and a half thousand feet actually does
O.R. Tambo is one of the highest major airports in the world, and the Highveld summer routinely puts the temperature into the thirties. Thin air means less lift from the wing and less thrust from the engine, so on a hot afternoon the density altitude here can sit thousands of feet above the field elevation and the aircraft behaves as though it were far higher still. That is precisely why the runways are as long as they are, and why nothing about this is dramatic in practice. What it does mean is that a fully fuelled long-range departure is a real performance calculation rather than a formality, that the operator may prefer a morning slot, and that on the rare occasion an aircraft cannot lift both the fuel and the full load, the fix is a lighter departure and a fuel stop rather than a surprise at the holding point. Our managers set this out at the quote stage rather than leaving it to the crew on the day.
Three more things worth knowing
– Summer afternoons bring thunderstorms. The Highveld storm season runs through the southern summer and the storms are short, violent and predictable in timing rather than in place. Morning movements avoid them, and they are the reason we build slack into an afternoon arrival;
– An international arrival clears customs and immigration at the main terminal before repositioning to the private hangar, so the walk to your car is a little less immediate than at a European private terminal;
– Groups above eight passengers cross a permit threshold that needs around a month. It is a threshold rather than a gradient, and it is set out on our South Africa page.
British passport holders need no visa for a short holiday or business visit, and on a private arrival the formalities are handled beside the aircraft rather than in a queue. Our managers confirm the current position for every passenger on the manifest before departure.
From the apron to Sandton
Johannesburg is a sprawl rather than a city centre, and almost nobody flying privately is heading for the old CBD. The money, the offices and the hotels are north of it, which is exactly why the airport question matters so much here.
the financial district and the northern suburbs, and the pairing that makes Lanseria worth choosing30 to 45 minutes
the airport sits some 45 km out to the north-west, so the old centre is the long way round50 to 65 minutes
depending entirely on the hour, and the Gautrain does it in about fifteen from the terminal30 to 50 minutes
about 25 km east of the city, and the closer of the two to the old centre30 to 45 minutes
the administrative capital, and Lanseria is marginally the better side for itabout an hour
or 75 nautical miles by air, which is why most clients fly itabout 2 hours by road
Three things to settle with the ground arrangements
– Johannesburg traffic is genuinely bad at peak, and the two rush hours can add half an hour to any figure above. An arrival before nine or after seven avoids most of it;
– From O.R. Tambo the Gautrain is quicker to Sandton than a car in rush hour and many corporate visitors use it, but on a private arrival with luggage a driver is usually simpler. We arrange either;
– Security-conscious clients ask about vehicles and routing, and it is a fair question. We book through established operators with vetted drivers, and the arrangements are discussed rather than assumed.
Flying to Johannesburg with a dog or a cat
The rule that catches everyone comes first: your animal does not travel in the cabin with you. The country will only accept a cat or a dog as manifested cargo on a scheduled service, which means the animal is booked onto a different aircraft entirely and no amount of chartering changes that.
The compensation is that Johannesburg is the easiest place in the country to bring one into. It is one of only two ports of entry that accept every category of animal, the cargo and veterinary facilities here are the most established in southern Africa, and a dog arriving from Britain with correct paperwork faces no quarantine at all.
What actually sets the timetable
the controlling document; it dictates the certificate format and what testing is needed6 to 12 weeks ahead
it has to appear on every document that followsbefore anything else
where the lead time goes, and the part no amount of urgency compressesvaries by permit
South Africa is not on the list for a simple return, so the sample is taken by your own vet at homea test drawn before you leave
Three points specific to arriving here
– The animal clears at O.R. Tambo, not at Lanseria. If you have chosen Lanseria for yourselves, somebody still has to collect the dog from the cargo terminal on the other side of the city, and that is an hour each way;
– A safari leg afterwards is a separate conversation. Reserve aircraft are small and many lodges do not take dogs at all, so if the trip continues to the bush the animal usually stays in Johannesburg with a boarding arrangement we can organise;
– Altitude and heat matter on the ground here. The Highveld is high and dry and the summer afternoons are hot, so collection is scheduled for the cooler part of the day rather than whenever the paperwork happens to finish.
Because the permit governs everything else and the requirements change more often than most, our managers confirm the current position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken. The full South African rules are on our South Africa page, and the destinations where an animal does travel beside you in the cabin are covered in our flying with pets guide.
The Johannesburg calendar: business runs all year, the bush does not
Unlike the Cape, this city has no season in the holiday sense. It is the commercial capital of the continent and the corporate traffic runs twelve months. What does have a season is everything people fly on to afterwards, and the two calendars pull in opposite directions.
winter on the Highveld: cool mornings, warm days, no rain and no storms. In the reserves the bush thins and the game concentrates at water, which makes this the best safari window of the yearthe dry season, and the reason to come
the city turns purple for a few weeks, the weather warms and the storms have not properly started. Good availability and sensible pricesspring, and the jacarandas
corporate Johannesburg empties out while the country goes to the coast. Quieter here than you would expect, and the storms are at their most activethe domestic holidays
the conference and corporate calendar at its heaviest, hot afternoons, and the months when handling capacity and hotel space tighten togetherthe business peak
warm, drying out, the storms fading and the bush starting to thin. An underrated month for a trip that wants both city and reservethe transition
The storm season, and what it does to a schedule
From roughly October to March the Highveld produces afternoon thunderstorms with a regularity that becomes almost comic. They build through the afternoon, break hard for an hour, and clear. They rarely cancel a flight and they routinely delay one, and they arrive at the same time of day as the heat that already complicates a heavy departure. The practical answer is the same for both problems and costs nothing: move the movement to the morning. Where a schedule cannot be moved, we build the slack in and say so rather than presenting a timing we know is optimistic.
How to time a trip that includes the bush
– If the safari is the point, come between May and September. The city is at its most pleasant then anyway, dry and mild, and the reserves are at their best;
– If the business is the point, February and March are unavoidable but need booking earlier than the rest of the year;
– A trip that wants Johannesburg, the Kruger and the Cape in one fortnight is pulling against itself, since the Cape peaks in December and the bush peaks in July. April and September are the two months that compromise least, and we say which half to prioritise rather than pretending the conflict is not there.
Types of flights
Johannesburg produces a heavier business mix than anywhere else we fly in the southern hemisphere, and the reason is straightforward: it is where the money on the continent is administered. What comes to our desk:
- Mining, energy and resources travel, which is the single largest category here and runs on fixed board and site dates rather than on preference;
- Corporate and financial travel into Sandton, where the exchanges, the banks and most of the continent’s head offices sit within a few streets of each other;
- Safari arrivals, where Johannesburg is the doorway rather than the destination and the reserve leg is booked in the same breath;
- Conference weeks, which the city hosts on a scale nowhere else in Africa can and which tighten handling capacity as much as hotel space;
- Family travel between Britain and a large South African diaspora, moving in both directions and around dates nobody chose;
- Multi-country African itineraries, with Johannesburg as the pivot before Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia or Mozambique.
Two of these behave differently from the rest. Resources travel is the one where the group size moves late, and since more than eight passengers crosses a permit threshold that wants about a month, we ask for numbers at the first call rather than the last. Safari arrivals are the one where the second aircraft matters more than the first, because the reserve leg dictates the baggage, the timing and sometimes the arrival airport.

Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody in the cabin, sold at a fraction of the usual figure because the aircraft is going regardless. Johannesburg generates them all year rather than in the bursts a seasonal destination produces, and the reason is its hub status.
Where they come from here
– The southern summer shuttle. European aircraft come down for the season and go back north, and both directions run empty at one end or the other between November and March;
– The Cape overflow. When ramp space in Cape Town runs out at the peak, long-range cabins park here instead and shuttle back and forth with empty seats. That short hop is cheap and comes up constantly in January;
– The regional network. Aircraft move between Johannesburg, Gaborone, Maun, Windhoek and the Zimbabwean fields all year, and those legs are inexpensive enough to be worth watching even when the long sector is not.
Expect somewhere between half and three quarters off a fresh charter. The price of that is control: the operator owns the date, usually the hour, and here even the airport, since a leg quoted out of Lanseria can end up at O.R. Tambo or the other way round. On this route the volume is high enough all year that a client who can offer a fortnight rather than a day has a real chance rather than a theoretical one. Current availability sits on our empty legs page.

Jet Sharing
Sharing puts several parties on one aircraft going the same way on the same day and divides the cabin cost between them. Johannesburg is the one long-haul destination on our network where this happens naturally rather than by arrangement, and the reason is the shape of the demand.
Divide sixty-eight thousand euros among thirteen and the seat comes to a little over five thousand two hundred. That is still several times a first class ticket, so this does not make private travel cheap. What it does is bring a flat bed on an overnight sector within reach of people who would otherwise fly scheduled, and on this particular route the groups that need it are already travelling on the same dates as each other.
Where the match genuinely comes up
– Conference and industry weeks, where several companies each send four or five people and each books a cabin for fourteen;
– Safari parties on fixed lodge dates, which travel in small numbers on a calendar set by somebody else;
– The southern winter, when the bush season concentrates arrivals into the same handful of weeks between May and September.
A shared seat keeps everything that matters over ten and a half overnight hours: the bed, the private terminal at both ends and luggage measured by the hold rather than by an allowance. Tell us the week and how many are travelling, and we will hold it against southbound departures already on our books.

Helicopter charter
In Johannesburg a helicopter does one job above all others, and it is beating the traffic. This is a city of freeways and distance rather than a compact centre, and the difference between a car and a rotary transfer at the wrong hour is an hour of your day. The second job is the game reserves, where the last few miles sometimes have no road worth the name.
against 30 to 50 by road, and considerably worse at peakabout 10 minutes
the cross-city hop, which by road is close to an hourabout 10 minutes
the resort and the malaria-free reserve, roughly two hours by carabout 30 minutes
the administrative capital and the estates around it15 to 20 minutes
where the airstrip is still some distance from camp, or the lodge has its own padthe final leg
subject to the landing site being authorised in advance rather than on the daydirect
Altitude and weather, which here are the same conversation
– The Highveld sits at over five thousand feet and the summer afternoons are hot, which costs a single-engine machine performance exactly when it is carrying most. Morning departures are planned for a reason rather than a preference;
– Storm season stops rotary flying more readily than fixed wing. Between October and March an afternoon plan needs a road alternative behind it;
– Reserve access runs through the lodge. Private reserves here manage their own landing sites and the airspace above them, so the rotary booking is made with the property rather than independently of it.
The machines here reflect the altitude. The Airbus H125 does the bulk of the work and dominates the African fleet precisely because it performs where thinner air punishes other types. The wider-cabin H130 handles the comfortable transfers and the scenic legs over the Cradle of Humankind and the Magaliesberg. For larger parties, longer regional runs and anything over water the twin-engine H145 and AgustaWestland AW139 take over. Every one of them is on the South African register with local crews, and the rotary leg is booked together with the jet so that both sets of timings match.

Johannesburg charters from the booking notes: six recent trips
What the route looks like once a quote becomes a flight. Six jobs pulled from recent seasons, surnames cut to initials and a few particulars altered.
AIRPORT · THE ONE NOBODY ASKS FOR
A board heading to Sandton for two days
London - Lanseria, Bombardier Global 6000, about 10 h 30 min · 7 pax
The request said O.R. Tambo, because that is the name people know. Lanseria is on the right side of the city for Sandton, needs no slot and moves an aircraft through in a fraction of the time. Same flight, same price, and the better part of an hour saved at each end. We now propose it by default for anything north of the CBD.
HOT AND HIGH · THE AFTERNOON DEPARTURE
A group leaving fully fuelled for London in February
Johannesburg - London, Gulfstream G550 · 11 pax
The clients wanted a four o’clock departure on a thirty-degree day, which at this elevation is where the performance numbers start mattering. The operator preferred either a morning slot or a lighter departure with a fuel stop. They moved to ten in the morning, left with everything aboard and landed on schedule. Nothing dramatic happened, which was the point.
SAFARI · TWO AIRCRAFT, ONE ITINERARY
The R. family, four nights in the Sabi Sand
London - Johannesburg on a Falcon 7X, then a PC-12 to the lodge strip · 6 pax
They asked whether the Falcon could do the second leg. It cannot: the strip is short and unpaved. Ninety minutes on a Pilatus put them at the lodge with a ranger waiting at the aircraft, instead of four hours of dirt road from a commercial field. The one adjustment was luggage, since the reserve aircraft works to about twenty kilos a head in soft bags and two hard cases stayed in Johannesburg.
PERMIT · THE NINTH PASSENGER
A resources company whose party grew late
London - Johannesburg, Bombardier Global 7500 · 9 pax
Eight passengers and a fortnight of notice is comfortable here. The ninth crossed a threshold where a foreign operator permit applies, and that approval realistically wants about a month with certified papers sent by courier. We caught it at the quote stage. A week out it would have moved the trip rather than the paperwork.
STORM · AN HOUR OF SLACK
An afternoon arrival in the middle of the storm season
Farnborough - Johannesburg, Dassault Falcon 8X · 5 pax
A January arrival timed for four in the afternoon, which on the Highveld is when the thunderstorms build. It broke as they were on approach, they held for twenty-five minutes and landed. The dinner reservation had been made for eight rather than seven precisely because we had said this would probably happen. Storms here delay far more often than they cancel.
EMPTY LEG · THE CAPE OVERFLOW
Ms C. E.: a cabin that had nowhere to park in Cape Town
Johannesburg - London, G650ER empty leg, about 10 h 30 min · 4 pax
In January the Cape ramp fills and long-range aircraft park here instead, shuttling back when their clients need them. This one was going home to Europe with an empty cabin in the second week of the month. She paid a little under half a fresh one-way and travelled two days later than she had originally planned.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Johannesburg
1Can a private jet fly from London to Johannesburg nonstop?
Yes, and it is the shortest of the South African sectors. Johannesburg is about 4,921 nautical miles from London, roughly three hundred nautical miles closer than Cape Town, and the flight takes around 10 hours 30 minutes in one leg. A Falcon 7X, a Global 5000, a G550, a Global 6000, a Falcon 8X, a G650ER or a Global 7500 all cover it without a technical stop.
2How much does a private jet to Johannesburg cost?
From about 68,000 EUR one way on a Dassault Falcon 7X out of London, 72,000 to 73,500 EUR on a Global 6000 from the west and the Midlands, and 78,000 to 85,000 EUR from Manchester, Scotland and Northern Ireland. A G650ER starts near 92,000 EUR and an airliner cabin for nineteen or more from around 148,000 EUR. Departures from the Gulf cost considerably less, since Dubai is under 3,500 nautical miles away.
3Should a private jet use Lanseria or O.R. Tambo?
Lanseria (HLA / FALA) for most trips. It is privately owned, open 24 hours with no curfew, requires no slot, has two private terminals and sits on the northern side of the city for Sandton, Fourways, Midrand and Pretoria. O.R. Tambo (JNB / FAOR) is the right answer where a connection ties you to the main terminal, or where a heavy long-range departure benefits from its much longer runways. Slots and parking approval are required at O.R. Tambo and requested in advance.
4What does the altitude at Johannesburg mean for my flight?
O.R. Tambo sits at about 5,558 feet and Lanseria at about 4,520, which makes both hot-and-high airfields. Thin air reduces lift and thrust, so on a hot afternoon the effective density altitude can be thousands of feet above the field. Arrivals are unaffected in practice; a fully fuelled departure for Europe is a genuine performance calculation, which is why operators often prefer a morning slot in summer.
5Can I fly straight from Johannesburg to a safari lodge?
Yes, but not on the aircraft that brought you. Private reserve airstrips are short and unpaved, so the leg is flown on a Pilatus PC-12 or a Cessna Caravan, about ninety minutes in the air against four to five hours by road. Nelspruit serves the Sabi Sand, Skukuza sits inside the Kruger and Hoedspruit serves the Timbavati and the northern reserves. Baggage is limited to roughly 20 kg a head in soft bags.
