Private jet charter in Bolzano
Two hours out of Britain by light jet, Bolzano is an Alpine destination where the airfield, more than the aircraft, decides what you can fly. Private Jets UK plans the charter around those limits and around the valley you actually want. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Bolzano Airport sits a few kilometres from the old town, with a runway of about 1,430 m and no ILS, so light jets and turboprops are the natural fit. Anything larger usually lands at Innsbruck or Verona and finishes the journey on the road or in a helicopter, which is why the first question on this route is never the date but the size of the party and the amount of luggage.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Bolzano depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Bolzano?
Just under two hours from Biggin Hill in a light jet, a little over two hours from Manchester and nearly two and a half hours from Glasgow, with one hour of clock difference to remember on arrival because South Tyrol keeps Central European time. At 554 to 848 nautical miles this is a short-haul sector for any business jet, so nothing here depends on range. What does depend on the aircraft is whether it can land at Bolzano at all: the table gives the sector from each British field we use, with the light-jet types we would normally propose for the shorter runway.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave a London airfield at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Bolzano shortly before ten local time, with the clock difference already absorbed. The airport lies 4 to 5 km from the centre, so a car to the hotel takes 10 to 15 minutes. Add the drive to the British field and the quick handling at both ends and the journey from a London office to a Bolzano hotel comes to about four hours. A scheduled service with a change at Munich or Milan can take most of a working day, and a Dolomites resort lies a further hour or two beyond that.
Light jet, turboprop or Innsbruck: the question that decides this route
– Up to four or five passengers with ordinary bags, a light jet into Bolzano itself is the right answer and the only one that puts you on the valley floor in one hop. The airport operator and broker listings point to turboprops, very light jets and selected light business jets, and we check every aircraft against the weight, the temperature and the runway on your day before we quote;
– Past that, with ski bags, a party of six or more or a midsize cabin you want for comfort, the sensible plan is usually to land at Innsbruck or Verona, both with runways of 2,000 m or more, and finish by car or helicopter. We quote both plans so you see the difference in money and hours;
– The crew matters as much as the type. Every pilot flying instrument approaches into Bolzano needs the operator's own authorisation, renewed each year, and the airport has no ILS, only localiser and satellite approaches. An operator without the approval cannot take the job, so we confirm the crew before we confirm the price.

Private jet flights from Bolzano
Bolzano is a place you fly to rather than a hub you fly from. One short runway and a handful of apron stands make it the Alpine end of a trip, and what leaves from it is mostly light aircraft heading for the larger airports around it, the neighbouring capitals and Sardinia. Typical one-way prices:

The Dolomites from the air: why the last 40 km is the whole point
Val Gardena is 40 km from Bolzano Airport by road, Alta Badia about an hour and a half, and Cortina d'Ampezzo 138 km. None of them has a runway of its own, so every route into the Dolomites ends on a road or under a rotor, and the real decision is where to switch from wings to wheels. Land at Bolzano and you are as close as a fixed-wing aircraft can get; land at Innsbruck, 118 km away, or at Verona, 154 km, and you gain a bigger runway and cabin at the price of an extra hour or two on the road. Cortina is the exception: Venice Marco Polo is 148 km from it and Treviso 137 km, so for Cortina the Venetian airports are the better choice and Bolzano is not.
Before you accept a Bolzano quote
– Which crew, and which time of day. The operator publishes its own pilot approvals, night landings are restricted to a narrow list of authorised operators and the published hours finish in the evening, so a quote that ignores the crew or the clock will change when someone reads the airport's rules;
– Whether the aircraft can really take your luggage. Skis, golf clubs and the winter coats of six people fill a light-jet hold faster than the seat count suggests, and a quote that quietly drops you at Innsbruck, with a car to follow, should say so on its first line;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Bolzano to Innsbruck to Munich over three days costs less arranged as one trip, because the aircraft and the crew stay with you and do not have to position back to a small base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Bolzano:
Light jets, where most Bolzano bookings land
Up to five people with ordinary luggage, landing at the airport itself. The runway is short by business-jet standards, so we price the type and then check it against the day's weight and temperature, and the choice narrows to the smaller, lighter airframes.
Midsize, for the Innsbruck and Verona plan
The cabin to choose when the party is large, or when the aircraft will carry skis, boots and winter luggage. It lands at a bigger airport and the last stretch is by road, which costs time and saves a lot of argument about luggage.
Super-midsize and large
For a group that wants to travel as one party, for a team that works in the air, and for trips where Bolzano is one stop of several. These aircraft use Innsbruck, Verona or Venice, never the valley airfield.
Turboprops
The aircraft that fits a short Alpine runway best, and the right one for the relay legs from Bolzano to Innsbruck, Verona or Venice. A turboprop takes more time on a long sector and costs much less per hour.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last valley: the Dolomite passes, a hotel with its own helipad and a ski slope no road reaches. A landing outside an aerodrome needs an approved site, so the place is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. Bolzano has little based traffic of its own, so for a booking outside the peak weeks there is usually an aircraft already somewhere in the Alpine arc, at Innsbruck, Salzburg, Verona, Munich or Milan, and that is often where the better price comes from. A light jet positioning from Innsbruck costs a fraction of one sent out from Britain just to fetch you.

Business aviation airports in Bolzano
Bolzano's own field does the delicate part of the job and the others do the heavy lifting. It helps to know which is which before a quote arrives with a name you do not recognise on it.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Bolzano Airport (Dolomiti) BZO / LIPB |
The only airport in the city and the one that puts you closest to the valleys, 4 to 5 km from the centre. A single asphalt runway of about 1,430 m by 45 m at an elevation of 240 m, with Jet A1 on site, one handler (ABD Airport, the operator) and compulsory handling. The apron is small and aircraft above five tonnes are directed to a reserved area. There is no ILS, only localiser and satellite approaches, and crews need the airport's own authorisation. Customs is listed on site, and we confirm its hours for a flight from Britain. The local airline SkyAlps shares the field. Published hours run from early morning to the evening, with night work tightly limited |
| Innsbruck INN / LOWI |
The usual alternative, about 118 km from Bolzano by road over the Brenner. A 2,000 m runway at 581 m elevation, 4 km from the Innsbruck centre, so a midsize or large jet fits. It is a demanding airport: mountain winds and approaches that pass low over the city mean crews need specific familiarisation, and the airport describes its own Föhn procedures in a briefing. Magnum FBO is the handler listed, customs is on site, and one handler listing shows a night curfew from 23:00 to 06:00 |
| Verona Villafranca VRN / LIPX |
The southern alternative, about 154 km from Bolzano and 10 km south-west of Verona. A 3,068 m runway means no aircraft we are likely to send is too big for it, and the trip on to Bolzano follows the Adige valley road. It is the better choice for a party that wants a day on Lake Garda or in Verona before the mountains, and a sensible fallback when weather closes the valley |
| Venice Marco Polo and Treviso VCE / LIPZ, TSF / LIPH |
Venice has runways of 3,300 m and 2,780 m and is about 274 km from Bolzano, far enough that we only propose it when the trip is really about Venice. Its real value on this route is Cortina: Marco Polo is 148 km from the resort and Treviso 137 km, against 138 km from Bolzano, and both are the practical options, with bus services and transfer taxis |
| Munich and Milan Linate MUC / EDDM, LIN / LIML |
The far options, 253 km and 268 km from Bolzano by road. Munich has two 4,000 m runways and Linate one of 2,442 m, 7 km from central Milan. We use them when the trip is really to Munich or Milan and Bolzano is a day out of it, not when the Dolomites are the destination |
Four points settle most Bolzano arrivals:
One handler, little apron
ABD Airport is both operator and handler at Bolzano, and handling is compulsory, so there is nothing to choose and nothing to negotiate. The useful questions are parking time and stand space, because the apron is small. We book the stand with the request, and a stay of more than a few hours is agreed before the aircraft leaves Britain.
Hours, approaches and weather
Published operating hours stop in the evening and differ slightly between sources, there is no ILS, and winter low cloud and fog in the Adige valley cause holds even when Innsbruck is open. Night operations are limited to authorised operators. For a late departure or a tight connection we confirm everything in writing and name the fallback airport at the same time.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the airport. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years ago and valid for three months after departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at a kiosk.
Car and the road north
Give us the hotel as well as the flight, because the road decides how a Bolzano trip feels. Val Gardena is 40 km from the airport and Alta Badia about an hour and a half. Winter weekends fill the valley roads, so a driver booked for a fixed pick-up time and told the right door is worth more than a faster aircraft.

Border, passport and the Brenner
Choosing Innsbruck over Bolzano moves the border. The British arrival formalities are then Austrian, at Innsbruck airport, and the road south over the Brenner Pass into Italy runs inside the Schengen area, where routine border control is not made, although temporary checks have been used on this corridor from time to time. If the meeting is in Bolzano and the aircraft can use its runway, land there: the formalities then happen once, at the small airport a few minutes from the hotel.

From the apron to the Piazza Walther
Bolzano is a city you cross on foot. The old town, the Ötzi museum and the cable car that climbs from the centre to the Renon plateau all sit in a few streets, with vineyards and orchards beginning where the pavement ends, and the distances that matter are those that run outward, into the Dolomites and over the passes to Austria.

Flying to Bolzano with a dog or a cat
Italy is in the EU, so a dog or cat leaving Britain needs a fresh certificate for every trip, and the cabin of a private jet makes the rest easy: the animal sits beside you and no hold is involved. The paperwork is stricter than the flight is long. What matters most is that the certificate is dated inside its ten-day window and that the rabies vaccination is in order well before that.

What the EU asks for:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time, and never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before the flight;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, issued no more than ten days before the animal enters the EU, valid, on current UK government guidance, for onward travel in the EU and for the return to Britain for up to six months;
- A declaration, supplied by the vet, confirming that the animal will not be sold or rehomed while abroad;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at the first point of entry into the EU, which our handler arranges at the terminal;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before the return to Britain, recorded on the certificate or travel document. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Bolzano run
– The tapeworm treatment is a vet appointment in South Tyrol, towards the end of the stay, and not something you do before leaving. Book it as soon as the return flight is fixed, because a ski weekend leaves little spare time and a missed window is hard to repair;
– A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales cannot be used to enter the EU. The certificate has to be a fresh one for each trip, and an animal whose rabies cover lapses during the trip loses the right to travel on it;
– A ski weekend with a dog is an ordinary booking, but hotels, cable cars and helicopters each have their own rules. Settle the hotel and any onward helicopter before the quote, because a hotel has to accept the animal and a rotary operator has to agree to it separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates, including any extra requirement on the Italian side, before a booking is taken.
The Bolzano calendar: a Christmas market city at the foot of a ski region
Bolzano keeps two seasons that matter to a charter client: a winter of Christmas markets and Dolomite ski races, and a long cultural summer with one very large cycling event, with wine and apples in between. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.
Why a ski week costs more than the flight suggests
Not the flying. The European light-jet fleet is large and the Alpine arc is well served. What gets tight is the small things: stands on a modest apron at Bolzano, parking at Innsbruck, where ski charter traffic can limit space in winter, and one instrument approach at a time into the valley. A booking made a fortnight before the World Cup weeks or the Christmas market weekends can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Munich or Verona; made five or six weeks earlier it is simpler and cheaper. Outside the winter peaks and the first week of July a charter can usually be put together in a day or two.
Ways to bring the Bolzano price down
- Be flexible by a day or two on a ski trip. Midweek flights in January are calmer than the weekends either side, and the weeks after the Christmas markets close are calmer;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A light jet already in Innsbruck, Verona, Munich or Salzburg needs less positioning than one sent from Britain, and on a sector this short positioning is a large share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four soft bags do not need a midsize aircraft, and the money saved buys the car and the hotel night.
Types of flights
Bolzano produces a different mix from the big Alpine cities, because it is a trilingual provincial capital with a fruit-and-wine economy, a university and a trade-fair ground, and the doorstep of a UNESCO mountain range.
- Ski trips to Val Gardena, Alta Badia and Cortina, the group that dominates the winter, usually flown to Bolzano or to Innsbruck;
- Christmas market weekends, short stays for small parties that want the city and a day in the mountains;
- Business visits to the province's companies, the exhibition grounds and the university, where timing is set by the diary and the quick arrival is the whole point;
- Wine and food weekends in the Adige valley and the surrounding villages, mostly in September and October;
- Cycling and mountain events, the Maratona dles Dolomites above all, with bicycles in the hold;
- Onward flights from the Alps to Sardinia, the Riviera or Paris, often as the last leg of a ski week.
The ski trip is where the choice of airport matters most. A party of four that is happy with a light jet gets a flight to Bolzano and a short drive. A party of eight with skis lands at Innsbruck or Verona in a midsize cabin, and the extra hour on the road is the price of the larger hold. We quote both, and we say plainly which one we would take.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Bolzano route they follow the ski calendar and the Alpine events, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Bolzano empty legs come from
– Ski weekends. Jets bring parties into Innsbruck, Verona and Bolzano on a Saturday and fly home empty a day or so later, and that Sunday evening leg towards Britain is the one most often offered;
– Event weeks. After the December World Cup races and the Maratona dles Dolomites, charters leave the valleys in a wave, and the aircraft that came in full go out empty;
– Alpine rotation. Through the winter operators move aircraft between Innsbruck, Salzburg, Verona and Munich, and the short legs between them can be inexpensive.
The Bolzano corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, so a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Bolzano match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In South Tyrol a helicopter is a tool for the last valley, not for the middle of the trip. Bolzano itself is small enough to cross by car, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the passes, the ski areas and the hotels that keep a helipad of their own.
the direct line to Ortisei, against about 40 km of roadabout 10 minutes
to a hotel helipad at San Cassiano or a mountain departure point, against an hour and a half by roadabout 15 minutes
round the Sella group and the Langkofel, flown from a base at the entrance to Val Gardenaon request
a winter option when the Brenner road is slow, weather permittingabout 30 minutes
the Adige valley from end to end, a long hop for a rotorabout 35 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. Landings away from an aerodrome are permitted only at approved sites, which means a hotel lawn or a mountain hut needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after. Some hotels in Alta Badia have their own helipad;
– Mountain weather sets the schedule. Cloud in the valleys can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a mountain transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– On routes across high ground it is worth asking whether a twin-engine machine is available. For the World Cup weeks and the Christmas weekends, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The local operator Elikos flies from a base at the entrance to Val Gardena, with winter departure points at the Passo Gardena and the Rifugio Pralongià in Alta Badia, and carries up to six passengers. The machines we book on this ground are the Airbus H125 for Alpine work, the wider H130 for scenic and hotel transfers, the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Bolzano charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
DAY TRIP · OUT AND BACK
A morning meeting in Bolzano and home for dinner
Biggin Hill - Bolzano and return, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 50 min each way · 4 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground at Bolzano shortly before ten local time and in the meeting by eleven. The aircraft and crew waited at the airport rather than going home, which is a real line in the quote and still comes in below two separate one-way charters. The return left in the late afternoon, comfortably ahead of the evening close of the airfield. A long day, and a workable one.
SKI WEEK · THE LUGGAGE CHOSE THE AIRPORT
Eight people, eight pairs of skis and a drive to Val Gardena
Farnborough - Innsbruck, Citation XLS+, about 1 h 45 min · 8 pax
The first enquiry asked for Bolzano. Ski bags and boots for eight outweighed anything a light jet could take, so the quote moved up to a midsize aircraft landing at Innsbruck, with a car for the 120 km to the valley. The flying was a little longer and the road an hour more, and nobody had to split the party between two small jets.
CHRISTMAS MARKET · A SHORT BREAK
Four adults for a December weekend in the old town
London Luton - Bolzano, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 55 min · 4 pax
Out on the Friday morning and back on the Sunday evening. Four seats, four soft bags and a hotel on the Piazza Walther ten minutes from the runway. We placed the return a few hours before the evening close of the airport and kept an Innsbruck option open in case the valley filled with fog.
RACE WEEKEND · A VALLEY WITH NO RUNWAY
A group for the Alta Badia giant slalom
London City - Bolzano, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 50 min · 6 pax
Alta Badia has no airport, so the question was how to cover the last stretch. The party took cars up the valley, about an hour and a half, and a helicopter from the hotel helipad was held in reserve for the return in case of snow. A race weekend is the one time we ask for the ground plan before the flight plan.
WINE HARVEST · A DOG ON BOARD
Three adults and a labrador for an autumn weekend
Southampton - Bolzano, Citation CJ3+, about 1 h 55 min · 3 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in South Tyrol for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING WEST
A jet already going your way
Bolzano - London Luton, light jet empty leg, about 1 h 55 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Bolzano
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Bolzano?
About 1 hour 50 minutes from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and around 1 hour 55 minutes from Luton, covering roughly 554 to 584 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Bristol or Manchester allow about 2 hours 5 minutes to 2 hours 10 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 20 minutes to 2 hours 25 minutes. Bolzano is one hour ahead of Britain, so a seven o'clock departure lands shortly before ten local time.
2How much does a private jet to Bolzano cost?
From about £8,150 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill, £8,200 from London City and £8,500 from Luton. From Birmingham, Bristol or Manchester allow £9,250 to £9,800, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow £11,750 to £12,050. If a midsize jet lands at Innsbruck instead, a Biggin Hill flight starts from about £9,750, with a car for the last 118 km. Christmas market weekends, the December ski races and the peak ski weeks price above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Bolzano?
Bolzano Airport (BZO / LIPB) for light jets and turboprops, 4 to 5 km from the centre, with a runway of about 1,430 m, no ILS and compulsory handling. Its crews need the airport's own approach authorisation. Larger aircraft use Innsbruck (INN / LOWI), about 118 km away, or Verona (VRN / LIPX), about 154 km away, and finish by road or helicopter. For Cortina, Venice or Treviso is the better choice.
4When should I book a private jet to Bolzano?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Christmas market weekends, the December World Cup weeks and the busiest ski weekends in January and February, allow four to six weeks. Stands at Bolzano are few, parking at Innsbruck can be limited by ski charters, and a late booking tends to pay more for an aircraft positioned from another country.
5Can I fly on from Bolzano to Val Gardena, Alta Badia or Cortina?
Not by jet, because none of them has an airport that takes jets. Val Gardena is about 40 km from Bolzano Airport by road, Alta Badia about an hour and a half and Cortina 138 km. A helicopter shortens the last leg to Val Gardena or Alta Badia to about ten to fifteen minutes, weather permitting, and some hotels have their own helipad. For Cortina, Venice Marco Polo (148 km) or Treviso (137 km) is nearer in practice.
6Can I take my dog to Bolzano on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and the EU asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old and an Animal Health Certificate issued within ten days of arrival. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before landing. Cats are exempt from the treatment. We confirm any extra Italian requirement in writing before booking.
