Private Jet from London Farnborough to Milan

Private Jets UK flies the Farnborough to Milan route more often than any other Italian sector, and its rhythm is unmistakable. Fashion houses move teams and collections through Linate four seasons a year; finance traffic runs steadily between London and Porta Nuova; summer adds the Lake Como crowd, and one September fortnight combines Fashion Week with the Monza Grand Prix and strains every ramp in Lombardy. The flight itself is short, from 1 h 45 min nonstop, and with Milan an hour ahead of the UK, a morning departure still delivers a full working day. The real decisions on this route are which Milan airport to use and when to book, and both reward a broker who flies it weekly.

Farnborough to Milan: prices and flight time by aircraft class

Unlike some southern routes, Milan imposes no aircraft limits worth mentioning: Linate's 2,442 m runway takes everything from a Mustang to a BBJ. The class choice is purely about cabin, luggage and budget. Realistic starting prices:

Aircraft class Flight time Price, one way
Light jet (Phenom 300, Citation CJ4) 1 h 50 min from £6,900 (~8,200 €)
Midsize jet (Citation XLS+, Learjet 60XR) 1 h 45 min from £8,900 (~10,500 €)
Super-midsize (Challenger 350, Praetor 600) 1 h 40 min from £10,500 (~12,400 €)
Heavy jet (Challenger 605, Falcon 900LX) 1 h 35 min from £12,900 (~15,200 €)

One practical note: fashion and design weeks move a lot of wardrobe. A light jet swallows carry-on and a few garment bags; full sample collections travel better in a midsize or super-midsize with a proper hold. Tell the broker what is coming with you and we will size the cabin honestly rather than optimistically.

The London - Milan corridor is among the busiest business aviation city pairs in Europe, which makes it fertile ground for empty legs. They appear in both directions almost daily outside peak weeks. When one lines up with your dates, the saving can reach a third or more. Timing is everything.

Linate, Malpensa or Bergamo: choosing your Milan airport

Milan gives private traffic three doors, and picking the right one is half the value a broker adds on this route:

LIN
Milan Linate. The default answer. Seven kilometres from the Duomo, a 2,442 m runway, and the Milano Prime terminal built specifically for business aviation. Slots are mandatory and night restrictions apply on weekdays, which matters for late departures.
MXP
Milan Malpensa. Fifty kilometres northwest, but Milano Prime's terminal there runs 24/7 and takes any aircraft at any hour. The right call for late-night arrivals, ultra-long-range types and weeks when Linate's ramp is full.
BGY
Bergamo Orio al Serio. About 50 km northeast. Rarely first choice, occasionally the clever one: quick motorway access to Franciacorta, Lake Iseo and the eastern lakes, and useful when both Milan ramps are saturated during the Monza Grand Prix.

Nine trips out of ten the answer is Linate. Simple as that. The tenth, a midnight arrival, a Global with a full load, or a February Fashion Week ramp that sold out, is why the other two exist.

Milan Linate (LIN) at a glance
ICAO / IATA LIML / LIN
Runway main runway 2,442 m, comfortable for every class up to heavy jets and airliner-size types
Business aviation terminal Milano Prime (SEA Prime), a dedicated 2,000 sqm terminal with nine lounges, direct ramp access and around 28,500 sqm of hangarage
Location 7 km east of central Milan; the drive to the Duomo or Porta Nuova takes 15-25 minutes outside rush hour
Slots and hours slots are mandatory for all traffic, and night restrictions apply on weekdays; Malpensa covers genuine round-the-clock needs
Local time CET, one hour ahead of the UK
Busy periods fashion weeks, Salone del Mobile in April and the Monza Grand Prix in September fill ramp parking; overnight aircraft parking is the first thing to sell out

When Milan gets busy: the charter calendar

Milan's charter demand is the most calendar-driven in Europe. These are the weeks that move prices and eat parking:

January
Men's Fashion Week. The season opener; a busy but manageable week.
Late February
Women's Fashion Week. The single busiest charter week of the Milan year. Book aircraft and Linate parking two to three weeks out.
April
Salone del Mobile. Design week fills the city's hotels first and the airport ramp second; expect premium pricing on peak days.
June
Men's Fashion Week, summer edition. Often combines with opening weekends on Lake Como.
September
Women's Fashion Week and the Monza Grand Prix, sometimes in the same fortnight. Linate overflow lands at Malpensa and Bergamo.

Outside these windows the route is refreshingly relaxed: aircraft are plentiful, Linate slots come easily and quotes sit at the low end of the ranges above. Quiet months reward flexibility.

Land at Linate (09:50 UK time). The car meets you at Milano Prime; Porta Nuova in 20 minutes.
11:15 - 18:00
A full Milan day: showrooms, the fashion district, a proper lunch. San Siro evening kick-offs also work with a later return.
18:45 local
Wheels up for home, aperitivo hour observed on board instead.
19:35 UK
Land at Farnborough, well inside the 22:00 weekday closing.

Beyond Milan: Como, the lakes and the mountains

A fair share of traffic on this route never stays in the city. Lake Como's western shore is 40 minutes from Linate by car, or a short helicopter hop that lands you at the villa jetty in under 20; we arrange the rotary leg together with the jet so the connection happens on the ramp. Franciacorta and Lake Iseo sit closer to Bergamo, and in winter the same one-way jet continues easily to alpine airports when the plan mixes Milan meetings with snow.

On the Farnborough side everything is as easy as UK private aviation gets: a single award-winning terminal, your car at the steps, fifteen minutes from kerb to climb-out. The full picture of slots, operating hours and the airport itself is on our Farnborough Airport private jet charter page.
