Private jet charter in Granada
A morning departure from a London airfield puts you on a runway at the foot of the Sierra Nevada before lunch, and the Alhambra is a short drive from the apron. Private Jets UK arranges the charter around whatever the trip is for: a timed entry to the Nasrid Palaces, a ski weekend in the Sierra Nevada, a concert in the Generalife gardens or a villa on the Costa Tropical. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Granada is easy to reach and less forgiving than the coastal cities. The airport on the edge of the Vega plain has a single 2,900 m runway, a limited operating day, a border post with its own hours and slot rules for business aircraft, so the decisions that matter are the arrival time, the handler and the alternative you keep in reserve.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Granada depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Farnborough, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Granada?
Roughly 2 h 40 min from Farnborough in a light jet, a little more from the Midlands and the north of England, and 3 h 05 min from Edinburgh or Glasgow in a Challenger. Spain keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain, so the clock on the wall moves faster than the one in the cockpit. At 866 to 1,172 nautical miles this is a long sector for a light jet, but one that a Phenom or a Citation flies without a stop. The table gives the sector from each British field we use.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall
Leave Farnborough at eight in the morning and you land at Granada just before midday local time. The airport lies about 15 to 17 km west of the city on the plain below the mountains, and a private car takes roughly 20 minutes to reach the centre. Put the flight, the short processing at both ends and the road together and central London to the foot of the Alhambra hill comes to about five hours, which is enough to take a lunch table in the Albaicin and still keep the afternoon for the monument itself.
Light jet or midsize: the question that comes up on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, a light jet is the right answer. At about 2 h 40 min a CJ3+ or Phenom is comfortable, and the saving over a midsize cabin is about £2,900 each way from Farnborough;
– Ski bags are the exception. Four skiers with boots, poles and a week of clothes fill the hold of a light jet before the seats are full, and this is where we quote a midsize aircraft beside the light one so both figures are on the table. Luggage decides this far more often than passenger numbers do;
– Heavy aircraft earn their place when the party is large, when the same jet stays with you for a tour of Andalusia, or when Granada is only one stop on a longer trip. Remember that code D and E types need the handler and the airport to approve the visit in advance.

Granada as a base for the south and the islands
Malaga is only 48 nautical miles from Granada and Seville 106, which is why we do not price flights between them: by road Malaga airport is about an hour and a half away and the car is faster door to door than any aircraft. The air sectors that make sense start further out. Madrid (205 nm) is a quick light-jet hop, though the airports at the far end are busy and slot-controlled. Ibiza and Palma are an hour and a half or a little more in a Pilatus PC-12, which is the aircraft we usually quote for the sea crossing because a jet cannot match its price on so short a leg. The Balearic peak runs from May to October.
Before you accept an onward quote from Granada
– Whether the departure time fits the airport. Granada is not a round-the-clock field, and a late return from a dinner or a concert can run into the closing time. We check the planned departure against the published hours before we send a price;
– Whether the itinerary is one booking. Granada to Ibiza to Barcelona over a long weekend costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you instead of repositioning to Andalusia between each stop.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Granada:
Light jets, and where most bookings land
At around two and a half hours this is still the sensible class for four or five people with ordinary luggage. Every aircraft here has the range for Granada from Britain without a stop, so the money goes on the flying hour and not on capability you will not use.
Midsize, for ski bags and family luggage
Skis, boots, a week of mountain clothes and a family's holiday cases are what push a party past the light-jet hold. A midsize cabin also lets you stand up on a sector of this length.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, for a team that needs to work in the air, and for itineraries that carry on from Granada to Madrid, Mallorca or beyond without turning round. Large types need advance approval at Granada.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the Balearic crossings and for the shorter Spanish legs: Ibiza and Palma are an hour and a half to 1 h 45 min in a turboprop, and the saving over a jet on that distance is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch: the ski station, a country house with its own lawn, or the coast. A helicopter cannot land just anywhere in Spain, so the landing site is agreed before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. The aircraft for a Granada booking often start from Malaga, Madrid or Seville rather than from Granada itself, so for a date that does not fall on a holiday week we can usually find one within an hour or two of the airport, and that is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports in Granada
One airport is the natural landing, three more are worth knowing before a quote arrives with one of them in it. Granada's own field is high, hemmed in by mountains and open for a limited part of the day, so the fallback matters more here than it does for most cities we cover.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Granada-Jaen, Federico Garcia Lorca GRX / LEGR |
The first choice for the city, the Alhambra and the ski station. It lies about 15 to 17 km west of Granada, is run by Aena and stands at 567 m above sea level, which is why aircraft need more runway here than the same type does at the coast. The single runway 09/27 is 2,900 m by 45 m, concrete at both ends and asphalt between, and the only instrument landing system serves runway 09 (category I); the published approach procedures are all to that end. Fire cover is category 7, with category 9 available when requested ahead for larger aircraft. There is no hangar and no maintenance facility for visiting jets. Jet A-1 is supplied by Exolum. Five companies are listed in the official aeronautical publication for ramp and executive handling: General Aviation Service, United Aviation Services, Universal Aviation Spain, Aviapartner Executive (Aviavip) and South Europe Ground Services. General Aviation Service is named as the ramp agent for general aviation |
| Malaga Costa del Sol AGP / LEMG |
The fallback and the better choice for a combined trip. About 8 km south-west of Malaga, with a 3,200 m runway and a second runway of 2,750 m, and a separate general aviation terminal beside the N-340 that was formerly the main terminal. It is 48 nautical miles from Granada by air and roughly 125 km by road, about an hour and a half in a car, so we use it when Granada is closed, full, short of slots or simply not the point of the trip, for instance a week on the Costa del Sol with a day in Granada |
| Almeria LEI / LEAM |
The eastern option, about 9 km east of Almeria, with a 3,165 m runway. The city of Granada is about 160 km from Almeria, so this makes sense for a trip that splits between the Almeria coast and Granada, or as a second alternative when the weather closes the mountains. We confirm handling and customs with the operator before using it |
| Seville San Pablo SVQ / LEZL |
The western option for a tour that takes in Seville and Granada. By road the two cities are about 250 km apart on the A-92, around two and a half hours, so Seville is a fallback only for an itinerary that includes it anyway |
Four points settle most Granada arrivals:
Choose the handler
For flights from outside the Schengen area, which includes every flight from Britain, a handling agent is mandatory at Granada and must be named in item 18 of the flight plan. The airport recommends booking at least 24 hours ahead. Several firms share the apron, so we ask the operator for its preference and tell you who will meet you.
Hours and slots
The airport is open from 06:30 to 23:15 local time, not round the clock. General and business aviation is capacity-limited, and a slot has to be requested through the Aena portal at least four hours ahead. Outside those hours we plan for Malaga instead.
Border and passport
Spain is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you are checked on arrival. The border post at Granada is staffed from about 08:00 to 22:00 local time, and a non-Schengen arrival outside those hours needs prior contact with the airport. We settle this before the aircraft is booked.
Weather and the mountains
Granada sits on a plain below the Sierra Nevada, where the lifts reach almost 3,400 m. Low cloud and winter visibility can close the instrument approach, and the one precision procedure serves runway 09 only. We name Malaga as the alternate on every winter booking so that nobody has to decide it on the day.

Border, passport and the way home
Arrival at Granada is straightforward and your handler arranges it. British passports must have been issued less than ten years before the date of entry and must remain valid for at least three months after the day you plan to leave the Schengen area. A visa is not needed for up to 90 days in any 180, and the Entry/Exit System can ask for a photograph and fingerprints on the first entry. Border control may also ask for a return ticket, proof of funds and a hotel booking or an address, which for a charter passenger is a matter of having the confirmation to hand.
The part that deserves attention is the flight home. Britain is outside Schengen, so on arrival at the British airport passengers pass passport control as well as customs. A private flight must be notified in advance by a General Aviation Report, filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure, and the penalties are real: £2,500 for a first landing at a non-regulated aerodrome and £2,000 per passenger without permission. We file this for you and name the airfield on the booking, so nothing is left to the day.

From the apron to the Alhambra
Granada is a compact city under a very large mountain. From the airport you are in the centre in about the time it takes to drink a coffee, and the distances that matter are the ones that run outward: to the ski station, to the coast and to the other Andalusian airports.

Flying to Granada with a dog or a cat
Spain is among the easier destinations to fly with an animal, and the flight is short enough that most pets sleep through it. The animal sits beside you in the cabin and not in a hold. What matters is the paperwork, and above all the dates on it, because the health certificate has a ten-day life from the day it is issued.

What Spain asks for on the way in:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or on the same day, never after it;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate from an Official Veterinarian, valid for ten days for entry to the EU and also used for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which our handler arranges at the airport;
- A British pet passport is not accepted for entry to the EU, so a fresh certificate is needed for every trip.
The return to Britain, and what catches owners out
– Dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain, recorded with the product, date and time. Cats do not. In Granada that means a vet appointment on the last full day of the stay, and not something to do before leaving;
– A pet travel document and a declaration go with the animal. Rules for animals that do not meet them can mean quarantine of up to four months, and we check every document before the aircraft is booked;
– A private flight into Britain has no published approved-route text of its own for pets, so we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight. Not every Granada hotel and not every carmen (a walled Granada house with a garden) in the Albaicin accepts animals, and a ski-station operator or a helicopter company has to agree separately.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide, and our managers confirm the position in writing for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Granada calendar: snow, processions and an Alhambra summer
Granada has no single week that overwhelms the rest. It has four or five stretches that quietly fill the hotels and the apron, and some of them move with Easter. Choose the week before you choose the aircraft.
Why the busy weeks cost more
Not the flying. Aircraft for Granada are usually positioned in from elsewhere, so a busy week means fewer to choose from. What gets tight is the Alhambra itself. Entry to the Nasrid Palaces is by timed slot, tickets are normally released about three months ahead on the official site and the popular days sell out, so a client who has not secured a slot should do so before the aircraft is booked, not after. The same logic applies to the hotels inside the old town. Outside Holy Week, the Christmas ski fortnight and the festival evenings, Granada is among the easier Spanish airports to charter into, and a flight can often be arranged in a day or two. In midsummer the city is hot, with July highs averaging about 34 degrees Celsius, and trade thins out.
Visiting the Alhambra: what a private client needs to know
The monument is the reason most people fly here, and the one thing a charter cannot buy. Tickets are sold through the official ticket site of the Alhambra trust, and entry to the Nasrid Palaces is on a timed slot, with late arrival not accepted. A ticket for the palaces that is bought or collected at the monument's office has to be taken at least an hour before the slot, and the original passport or identity card is checked at the gate. Each space on a ticket can be visited once.
The complex has four parts that hold a visitor for most of a day: the Alcazaba fortress, the Nasrid Palaces with the Court of the Myrtles and the Court of the Lions, the Generalife gardens and the unfinished Renaissance palace of Charles V. A separate night ticket exists for the palaces and for the gardens, which is sometimes the easier one to get when daytime tickets have gone. Because the slot is fixed and the aircraft is not, we plan the landing around the entry time and keep a buffer of at least two hours between touchdown and the slot, which the road from the airport comfortably allows.
Ways to bring the Granada price down
- Move the dates a few days where you can. The week after Easter, early March and October are calm, and a Tuesday to Thursday trip is cheaper than a weekend one in ski season;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet already in Malaga, Madrid or Palma needs less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful share of the bill;
- Take the light jet unless the luggage says otherwise. Four people and four bags do not need a midsize, and the money saved buys the hotel and the car.
Types of flights
Granada produces a different mix from the resort destinations we cover. It is a heritage city, a university city and a mountain gateway at once, and the bookings reflect it.
- Heritage weekends, built around a timed slot at the Alhambra, an evening of flamenco in Sacromonte and a night in the Albaicin;
- Ski trips to the Sierra Nevada, mostly Friday out and Sunday back, with ski bags in the hold;
- Festival evenings in June and July, flown in the same day or for two nights;
- Andalusian tours that connect Granada with Malaga, the Costa del Sol, Seville and Cordoba by air or by car;
- Day trips from London, which at about two and a half hours each way are a long day but a workable one if the Alhambra slot is in the morning.
The day trip deserves a closer look. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. The catch in Granada is the airport day: a return must leave before 23:15 local time, and we plan the evening departure well inside it so that a long dinner does not decide the outcome.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Granada route they come from the pattern of events and not from sheer volume, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Granada empty legs come from
– The ski weekends. Aircraft come in on the Friday with a party and leave empty after the weekend, so the leg back towards Britain or Madrid on Sunday or Monday is the one most often offered;
– Holy Week and the festival evenings. A party flies in, the jet goes back to its base or on to the next job without anyone aboard, and the repositioning leg is released a day or two beforehand;
– Coastal rotation. Operators moving aircraft between Granada, Malaga, Seville and the islands in spring and summer produce short Andalusian legs that can be cheap.
Because the Granada corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Granada match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
In Granada a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip, not the middle. The old town is small and the Alhambra is a walk or a short taxi away, and the journeys where rotary flight changes the day are the ones to the ski station, to the coast and to a house with its own lawn.
there is no dedicated helicopter area; helicopters use the runway and the taxiways T1 and T2 as air traffic control authorisescoordinated by the handler
about 50 minutes by road from the city, much less by airon request
the coast is about 50 km from Granada, for a villa or a marinaon request
in the Vega or the Alpujarras, subject to an authorised landing siteon request
by arrangement with the operator, with a route that avoids the airport zoneon request
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter in Spain cannot land wherever it likes. A hotel lawn, a ski-station platform or a private finca needs its status confirmed before we quote, not after, and we do not promise a site until the operator has accepted it;
– Wind, cloud and snow set the schedule. In the mountains a helicopter can be stopped on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– For Christmas, Easter and festival weeks, book the helicopter together with the jet or expect to be told there is no rotary capacity.
The machines used in this region are the Airbus H125 for short mountain and coastal work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted, and the H155 for larger parties. We book them alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Granada charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
ALHAMBRA · THE TIMED SLOT
A morning slot at the Nasrid Palaces and an evening flight home
Farnborough - Granada and return, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min each way · 3 pax
The clients bought the palace slot first and the aircraft second. Wheels up at eight, on the ground just before midday local time and in the gate queue with an hour in hand. The jet waited at the general aviation apron and left in the evening, well before the airport closed.
SKI WEEKEND · THE BAGS DECIDE
Four skiers and a week of kit for the Sierra Nevada
London Luton - Granada, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 40 min · 4 pax
The party first asked for a light jet. Four sets of skis, boots and poles would not have fitted, so the quote moved to a midsize cabin. Malaga was named as the alternate in the booking, because winter cloud on the Vega can close the one instrument approach, and the transfer to the ski station was arranged with the handler.
FESTIVAL EVENING · LATE DEPARTURE
A concert in the Generalife gardens and two nights in the Albaicin
Southampton - Granada, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 35 min · 4 pax
The festival programme ended late in the evening, and the airport does not stay open into the night. The return was set for the next morning instead, which cost one extra hotel night and removed any argument with the closing time.
AUTUMN · A DOG ON BOARD
Two adults, a teenager and a spaniel in October
Biggin Hill - Granada, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 40 min · 3 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment in Granada for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. The hotel was checked for animals before the aircraft was booked. The dog took the cabin in its stride.
ISLAND HOP · ACROSS THE SEA
From the Alhambra to a weekend in Ibiza
Granada - Ibiza, Pilatus PC-12, one leg of a four-day trip · 6 pax
The clients flew in from Britain on a light jet, saw the Alhambra and moved on to the island on the Saturday. A turboprop was cheaper for the sea crossing than a second jet, and holding the Granada leg and the island leg as one booking meant the aircraft and crew were already in place.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Granada - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 35 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a ski party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Granada
1How long is a private jet flight from London to Granada?
About 2 hours 35 to 2 hours 40 minutes from Southampton or Farnborough in a light jet, and 2 hours 40 to 2 hours 45 from Biggin Hill or London City, covering roughly 866 to 910 nautical miles. From Birmingham or Manchester allow about 2 hours 45 to 2 hours 50, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 3 hours 5 in a Challenger. Granada is one hour ahead of Britain, so a morning departure lands later on the clock than in the air.
2How much does a private jet to Granada cost?
From about £11,800 one way on a light jet out of Southampton and £12,100 from Farnborough. An eight-seat Phenom runs £12,050 to £12,550 from Cardiff, Bristol and Luton, a midsize Citation XLS+ £15,950 to £16,750 from Birmingham and Manchester, and from Scotland allow about £23,650. Christmas and Easter ski weeks, Holy Week and the summer festival run above these figures.
3Which airport should a private jet use for Granada?
Granada-Jaen Federico Garcia Lorca (GRX / LEGR) for almost every trip. It is about 15 to 17 km west of the city, has a single 2,900 m runway, is open from 06:30 to 23:15 local time, and handling is compulsory for flights from Britain. Malaga (AGP / LEMG), about 125 km away by road, is the usual alternative, and Almeria (LEI / LEAM) the eastern one.
4When should I book a private jet to Granada?
Outside the peaks a day or two is usually enough. For the Alhambra, buy the timed Nasrid Palaces slot first, since tickets are normally released about three months ahead and sell out. Allow several weeks for Christmas, Holy Week and the Corpus Christi fair, and remember that a slot for a business flight has to be requested at least four hours before the flight.
5Can I fly to Granada for the Sierra Nevada ski season?
Yes. The ski station is about 50 minutes by road from the city, and the season normally runs from early December to late April or early May. Many ski trips run from a Friday to a Sunday. Ski bags usually call for a midsize cabin, and we name Malaga as the alternate for winter weather.
6Can I take my dog to Granada on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and Spain asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. For the return to Britain a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
