Private jet charter in Ravenna
Ravenna packs fifth-century mosaics, the tomb of Dante and a long strip of Adriatic beach into one flat corner of Romagna, and the aircraft that brings you there lands somewhere else. Private Jets UK plans the trip around that fact. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Ravenna has an airfield, but it is an aero club strip of about 1,200 m with no customs and no fuel, so a jet from Britain lands at Forlì, about 30 km away, or at Bologna or Rimini, and the last stretch is a road or a short helicopter hop. The sensible choice among the three depends on the hour you want to arrive and leave, not on the size of the aircraft.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Ravenna depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a flight to Forlì in a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
How long does it take to fly to Ravenna?
Two hours from Biggin Hill or London City in a light jet, and two and a half hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Italy keeps Central European time, an hour ahead of Britain, so a departure at seven in the morning puts you on the ground in Romagna at about ten by the local clock. The figures below are for the sector to Forlì (FRL), the nearest airport that takes a business jet and the one we price Ravenna against, at 672 to 980 nautical miles from the British fields we use. The drive to Ravenna comes after the landing and is not in the flying time.

Door to door, and why the city is not on the flight plan
Land at Forlì a little after ten local time and a car brings you to the centre of Ravenna in about 35 minutes: a route planner puts the two town centres 28.8 km apart, and an Italian reference text gives about 31 km from the airport. That makes the trip from a London office at half past six to a table in the old town before noon realistic, provided the driver is waiting at the right door. Bologna is roughly 80 km from the centre of Ravenna by road and Rimini about 70, so each adds 25 to 40 minutes on the road in exchange for what it offers at the airport.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice usually goes on this route
– Up to four people with ordinary bags, take a light jet. Two hours in a CJ3+ is comfortable flying, and what you save against a midsize cabin pays for the car and a dinner in the old town;
– Past four, or when the party is also collecting luggage for a week on the coast, we quote a midsize beside it. Golf bags, bicycles and beach gear fill a light jet faster than people expect;
– A heavy jet belongs to a large delegation or to a trip that carries on across Italy with the same crew. Runway length at Forlì is not the issue, since it is listed at 2,560 m, but we check weight and stand for the largest types before the quote.

Onward from Romagna: when the aircraft wins and when the train does
Florence is only 46 nautical miles from Forlì, about 30 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12, and for one passenger with a laptop the train or a car is often the simpler answer. The aircraft earns its place when a party travels together, when the timetable has no slack, or when the next stop is somewhere the rails do not reach: Split is 195 nautical miles across the water, Nice 221, Geneva 291, Munich 260 and Paris Le Bourget 509. Italy, France, Germany and Switzerland all belong to the Schengen area, so the first landing carries the passport control and the hops after it do not. Croatia is also in Schengen, which spares the Split leg a second border check.
Before you accept an onward quote from Romagna
– Which airport at the far end. Split, Nice and Venice fill with private aircraft on summer weekends, and we check parking and handling before the quote is written, not after it;
– Whether the legs are one booking. London to Forlì, on to Split and home a week later costs noticeably less arranged as a single trip, because the aircraft and crew stay with you and do not return to base between stops.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Ravenna:
Light jets, the usual choice for four or five people
A two-hour sector with a small party and ordinary luggage is exactly what these cabins are for. The runway at Forlì is more than long enough for all of them, which leaves the budget for the car and for a long lunch in the old town.
Midsize, for a week on the coast or a family party
Beach gear, bicycles and the cases that come back from a week in Cervia take space a light jet does not have. A midsize cabin gives a real hold and a comfortable seat for six without the cost of a large aircraft.
Super-midsize and large
For a group moving as one party, a delegation that wants to work in the air, or a trip that goes on from Romagna to the Gulf or the Caribbean. The stand and the weight are what we check first at a regional airport, not the runway.
Turboprops
The right aircraft for the hops out of Forlì: Florence, Milan and Venice are under an hour, and the saving over a jet on those distances is large.
Helicopters
Not for the flight from Britain but for the last stretch from the airport to the old town or the coast, or from Forlì to Imola on a race weekend. Where a helicopter may land is settled before the quote.

This is a small part of what is available. The aircraft we propose is not always based at the airport where you land. Bologna, Milan and Venice are each within a short hop of Forlì, so a quote may name one of them as the positioning point. That is normal for a regional route, and it is often where the better price comes from.

Business aviation airports for Ravenna
Ravenna has its own airfield and no jet we send can use it, which is why this page is really about three other airports. One is close, one is complete and one lies on the coast.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Forlì, Luigi Ridolfi FRL / LIPK |
The nearest airport that takes a business jet, about 4 km from the centre of Forlì and about 30 km from Ravenna. A single asphalt runway, 12/30, of 2,560 m by 45 m with an instrument landing system. One directory lists customs and airport-of-entry status, mandatory handling, no slot requirement and operations from 06:00 to 22:00 UTC, which is 08:00 to midnight local time in summer and 07:00 to 23:00 in winter. The sources we checked describe no dedicated general aviation terminal, so the handler and any late-hours arrangement are confirmed in writing with the quote. Choose it for Ravenna, Cervia and the Romagna coast whenever the arrival and departure fit the daytime window |
| Bologna, Guglielmo Marconi BLQ / LIPE |
The complete option, about 74 km from Ravenna in a straight line and roughly 80 km by road between the city centres. A runway, 12/30, of about 2,800 m, and a General Aviation Terminal run by TAG Bologna, which states that its services, refuelling included, are available 24 hours a day, last-minute requests included. It has its own security checkpoints, meeting rooms, catering, a Jet A1 point on a 22,000 square metre apron and a 2,000 square metre hangar. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill the sector is priced about £450 below Forlì. Choose it for a late departure after a concert, for a night on the apron, or when the party also has business in Bologna |
| Rimini and San Marino, Federico Fellini RMI / LIPR |
The coastal alternative, about 55 km from Ravenna in a straight line and roughly 70 km by road. A 13/31 runway of about 3,000 m and customs listed on the aviation databases, with handling arranged through local agents and confirmed with the quote. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill the sector is priced about £300 above Forlì. It makes sense when the base is Riccione or Rimini and Ravenna is a day trip, not the other way round |
| Ravenna, Casale (aero club) LIDR |
The airfield that carries the city name, about 6 km from the centre in a straight line and listed about 7 km south of town. An asphalt runway of about 1,200 m, no lighting, no fuel, no customs, visual approaches only and prior permission 48 hours ahead in daylight hours, according to the directories we checked. It is a field for light aircraft and the local flying club, not a landing for a jet or for a flight arriving from Britain |
Four things to settle before a landing in Romagna:
The terminal and the handler
At Bologna the General Aviation Terminal belongs to the airport company and handles jets and helicopters on the same runway as the airlines. At Forlì and Rimini the lists name more than one company and do not agree with each other, so we ask the operator which handler it prefers and name that company in the quote. Give the driver the terminal as well as the flight, because the general aviation side is rarely the main hall.
Hours, slots and permits
Forlì is listed with operations from 06:00 to 22:00 UTC and no slot requirement, so a departure after an evening in Ravenna has to be planned against that clock. Bologna offers round-the-clock cover. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, and ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, handles the permit: for an aircraft with fewer than 20 passenger seats that is a blanket permit or a single taxi flight request made at least three working days ahead. We track it with the aircraft paperwork.
Border and passport
Italy is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months beyond departure. A first-time visitor may be asked to register a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system, which is free.
Mist and late nights
In winter the plain around Ravenna can be shut in by mist, and Bologna with its 24-hour terminal is the sensible alternate to name in the quote. A concert at the Teatro Alighieri that ends at eleven and a flight home the same night is a Bologna booking, not a Forlì one.

Border, passport and the roads to Ravenna
The first landing in the Schengen area is where the formalities happen, and for Ravenna that means Forlì, Bologna or Rimini. The aero club field at Casale is not an airport of entry, so a flight from Britain does not land there first. After the first landing the borders disappear: a hop on to Venice, Split or Nice is a Schengen sector with no passport control, though a document check can still happen at a hotel or on the road. By road Ravenna sits about 29 km from Forlì city centre, roughly 80 km from Bologna and roughly 70 km from Rimini according to route planners, and the motorway link towards Bologna and the coast is the one that matters on a race weekend. For the return, the General Aviation Report for Britain is filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure. A first landing in Britain at an aerodrome that is not regulated for customs can bring a fine of £2,500, and passengers carried without permission £2,000 each, so the arrival airfield is confirmed in writing. Passengers who are neither British nor Irish and need no visa for Britain must hold an Electronic Travel Authorisation.

From the apron to the Basilica of San Vitale
Ravenna has about 156,000 residents and covers some 650 square kilometres, which makes it the second largest Italian city by area. Most of that is farmland, pine forest and coast, and the walkable core is small. Honorius moved the imperial court here in the early fifth century, Theodoric ruled Italy from the city from 493, and the Byzantine governors of Italy sat here from 540. What survives of that history is eight early Christian monuments on the UNESCO list, and they sit within a short walk or a short drive of one another. The question for a private client is what else lies within a morning: the beach resorts, the Cervia salt pans, the Imola circuit and the Po Delta Park.
about 31 km according to an Italian reference text, and 28.8 km between the town centres by a route plannertypically 35 to 40 minutes
roughly 80 km by road between the city centres, a little more from the airport itselftypically about an hour and a quarter
roughly 70 km by road, 67.5 km between the town centres by the main routetypically about an hour
about 13 km to the nearest of the nine beach towns, with the Marinara port and its 1,100 mooringstypically 20 minutes
23 km by road, for the salt pans, the Salt Museum and Milano Marittimaabout 30 minutes
46 km by motorway, for the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuitabout 40 minutes
Mosaics, Dante and the coast: what a client actually does here
The mosaics come first, and they reward planning more than any other single thing on this page. The UNESCO listing covers eight monuments of the fifth and sixth centuries: the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Neonian Baptistery, the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, the Arian Baptistery, the Archiepiscopal Chapel, the Mausoleum of Theodoric, the Basilica of San Vitale and the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare in Classe. San Vitale holds the panels of the emperor Justinian and the empress Theodora, and Galla Placidia is a tiny cruciform chapel whose dome is a golden starry sky on dark blue. The five central sites are sold on combination tickets with timed entry, and Galla Placidia in particular can sell out well ahead. The Mausoleum of Theodoric, built of large blocks of Istrian stone, and Sant'Apollinare in Classe stand outside the centre. We arrange the booking with the aircraft, because a private party that lands at ten and finds the next free slot at four has wasted the point of flying.
Dante died in Ravenna in 1321, after years of exile from Florence, and his tomb stands beside the Basilica of San Francesco in a quiet zone where visitors keep silent. Each year on 14 September Florence supplies the olive oil for the lamp that burns above it. A client with an interest in the poet will find September the best month, when the Settembre Dantesco programme runs. The coast is the other half of the trip. Nine small beach towns line about 35 km of shore, Marina di Ravenna is the nearest at about 13 km, and behind them lie the pine forests and lagoons of the Po Delta Park. Cervia, 23 km south, offers the Camillone saltpan, the last small saltworks of the 144 that once worked there, now part of the MUSA Salt Museum, and the pine-shaded resort of Milano Marittima. Imola lies 46 km inland for anyone who wants a day at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit; on race weekends the roads around it fill, so the driver and the departure time are fixed before the aircraft is.
Flying to Ravenna with a dog or a cat
A pet on a private flight rides beside you in the cabin, never in a hold, and on a two-hour sector most animals sleep through it. The paperwork is where trips go wrong, above all the date on the health certificate, which is valid for only ten days for entry to the EU.

What an EU country such as Italy asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before entry;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU, and for the return to Britain as stated on the certificate. A pet passport issued in England, Scotland or Wales is not valid for entry to the EU;
- No more than five animals per traveller, presented at a travellers' point of entry, which we confirm in writing together with the paperwork before the flight;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What catches owners out on the Romagna run
– Italy asks for no tapeworm treatment on the way in. Britain asks for it on the way home, so it is a vet appointment you book in Ravenna or on the coast towards the end of the stay. Count back from the departure time, because the window is 24 to 120 hours and a flight that moves by a day can push the window out of reach;
– The order of chip and vaccine matters. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count, and an animal arriving with the wrong paperwork can be refused entry, so we read the certificate line by line before the flight and not at the terminal;
– A dog is welcome in some places and not in others. The Cervia salt museum admits dogs on a lead, and for each monument in Ravenna we check the rule before the day is planned, then settle whether the dog waits with the driver or at the hotel.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Ravenna calendar: mosaics all year, music in summer and Dante in September
Ravenna does not have a single high season. It has a quiet core of monuments that stay busy all year, a summer of concerts and beaches, and a handful of dated weekends on the coast and at Imola that move hotel rooms and cars. Knowing the week you want matters more than the aircraft you choose.
Why a festival week costs more
Not the flying. The European light and midsize fleet is large and Forlì is well placed in it. What gets tight is rooms, cars and the evening table, and on a night with a performance the late departure, because the airport near the city has limited hours. A booking made two weeks before the Ravenna Festival or an Imola race weekend can still be done but may mean an aircraft positioned from Bologna or Venice, which costs more. The same booking made a month earlier is simpler and cheaper.
Ways to bring the Ravenna price down
- Move the dates by a few days where you can. The weeks outside the festival, the Notte Rosa and the Imola race weekends are calmer in the hotels and on the road;
- Ask where the aircraft is based. A jet that already sits in Bologna, Milan or Venice needs less positioning than one coming from Britain, and on a sector of this length positioning is a meaningful part of the bill;
- Check which airport suits the plan. From Biggin Hill on the same light jet Bologna is priced about £450 below Forlì and Rimini about £300 above, but each adds a longer drive to Ravenna and the saving can disappear in the car. If the programme includes a night return, Bologna may be the better answer for reasons that have nothing to do with the fare.
Types of flights
Ravenna produces a different mix from the Riviera or the Alps, because the traffic is made by culture, by music and by a coast that people reach by car from a handful of airports.
- Culture trips built around the mosaics and Dante, usually two to four people, a guide booked ahead and a driver on call for the day;
- Festival and opera weekends in summer and autumn, timed to the Ravenna Festival or the Autumn Trilogy, with the return planned against the opening hours of the airport;
- Beach and boat holidays on the coast, from Marina di Ravenna and Marinara to Cervia and Milano Marittima, often with a family or a larger group;
- Motor trips to Imola, the circuit named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari, 46 km inland, usually for a race weekend or a track day;
- Business flights for the port of Ravenna, the main port of Emilia-Romagna, with a commercial and passenger side and a cruise terminal;
- Hops across the Adriatic to Split and the Croatian coast, and north to Venice and Milan.
The day trip works and is worth a close look. Leave a London field at seven, land at Forlì a little after ten local time, reach the old town by eleven and you have until about four to cover San Vitale, Galla Placidia, the Neonian Baptistery, Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and Dante's tomb at a walking pace. A same-day return means the aircraft and crew wait for you rather than going home, and that waiting is paid for, but it still comes out cheaper than two separate one-way charters. We quote it both ways, so the difference is visible.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. Ravenna has no single event that creates a steady stream of them, so they follow the pattern of the neighbouring airports, and it helps to know what produces them.
Where Romagna empty legs come from
– Race and festival weekends. Aircraft that take guests to Imola, Rimini or Bologna often reposition empty afterwards, and a leg towards Britain from Bologna or Rimini can be offered;
– Summer on the Riviera. Operators moving aircraft to and from Rimini and the Adriatic coast put short legs on the market in both directions at the start and the end of the holiday weeks;
– Business shuttles. Aircraft moved between northern Italian bases for a meeting often have a free sector, and those short hops can be cheap.
Because the corridor between Britain and Romagna is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Romagna match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
Around Ravenna a helicopter is a tool for the longer transfers and for the coast. The ground is flat and the roads are good, so a helicopter saves real time only on the longer transfers: from Bologna or Rimini to the old town, or from Forlì across to Cervia and the coast.
14 nm in a straight line, against about 31 km by roadabout 15 minutes
13 nm in a straight line, for the salt pans and Milano Marittimaabout 15 minutes
40 nm in a straight line, against roughly 80 km by roadabout 29 minutes
30 nm in a straight line, against roughly 70 km by roadabout 24 minutes
Before you plan around a helicopter
– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. In Italy the use of occasional landing sites is notified to ENAC, the civil aviation authority, through its online channel, and a foreign pilot needs ENAC accreditation to use it. The consent of the site manager is a separate matter, so we check the status of a beach, a lawn or a field before the quote is written, not after it;
– Weather sets the schedule. Fog, wind and thunderstorms can stop a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble, so a transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;
– A transfer is worth it only where the saving is large. From Forlì to the old town it is a convenience, from Bologna it is a real saving, and on the 13 km to Marina di Ravenna the car is the better choice.
Which machine we propose depends on the party and on the landing site: an Airbus H125 or H130 for two to five people, an H135 or a Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. We book it alongside the jet so that both crews work to one timetable.

Ravenna charters from the booking notes: six typical trips
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.
MOSAICS · A LONG WEEKEND
Two couples and a guide for three days
Farnborough - Forlì, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 55 min · 4 pax
The plan was San Vitale and Galla Placidia on the first morning, Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and Dante's tomb after lunch and the coast on the second day. The timed entries were booked with the aircraft, the car met them at Forlì, and the return was moved to a Monday morning, after the weekend traffic had gone.
FESTIVAL · THE LATE DEPARTURE
A pair of opera guests who wanted to be home the same night
Farnborough - Bologna, Phenom 300E, about 1 h 50 min · 2 pax
The performance ended after eleven, which is later than Forlì is listed to operate. We moved the booking to Bologna, with the General Aviation Terminal open all night, and the car made the longer drive back after the last curtain.
MOTOR · A RACE WEEKEND
A party of six for the endurance race at Imola
Southampton - Forlì, Citation XLS+, about 2 h · 6 pax
They wanted Imola on Saturday and the old town in Ravenna on Sunday. We landed at Forlì, a driver took them 46 km inland for the race and back to a hotel in Ravenna for the night, and the aircraft waited on the apron for the Sunday return.
CERVIA · SALT AND SEA
A family week built around the coast
Biggin Hill - Forlì, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h · 4 pax
The base was a hotel in Milano Marittima, with a half day at the Camillone saltpan and a day in the old town of Ravenna. Forlì saved a long drive compared with Bologna, and the question that settled the airport was where the beds were.
SPRING · A DOG ON BOARD
Four adults and a spaniel for a week
Birmingham - Forlì, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 10 min · 4 pax + dog
The Animal Health Certificate had to be dated inside ten days of arrival, and the vet appointment for the tapeworm treatment had to fall between 24 and 120 hours before the flight home. We booked both with the aircraft, the hotel took the dog, and the whole thing was settled in a single exchange of messages rather than three.
EMPTY LEG · SUNDAY EVENING NORTH
A jet already going your way
Bologna - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 1 h 50 min · 3 pax
The aircraft had brought a party in for the weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Sunday evening departure to the London fields.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Ravenna
1Does Ravenna have an airport for private jets?
No. Ravenna's own airfield at Casale is an aero club strip of about 1,200 m with no customs, no fuel and prior permission required, so it takes light aircraft only. A jet lands at Forlì (FRL), about 30 km from the city, at Bologna (BLQ), roughly 80 km by road, or at Rimini (RMI), roughly 70 km.
2How long is a private jet flight from London to Ravenna?
About 2 hours from London City and Biggin Hill in a light jet to Forlì, and around 1 hour 55 minutes from Luton in a Phenom, covering roughly 672 to 705 nautical miles. From Birmingham, Bristol or Manchester allow 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes, and from Edinburgh or Glasgow around 2 hours 30 minutes. Add about 35 minutes by road from Forlì to Ravenna, and remember that Italy is one hour ahead of Britain.
3How much does a private jet to Ravenna cost?
From about £9,550 one way on a light jet out of Biggin Hill or London City into Forlì, and £9,850 to £9,950 in a Phenom from Farnborough or Luton. A midsize cabin runs £12,300 to £14,000 from the south, the Midlands and the north-west of England, and from Scotland allow £19,800 to £20,200. A festival week or an Imola race weekend can price above these figures.
4Which airport should I use for Ravenna, Forlì, Bologna or Rimini?
Forlì (FRL / LIPK) for most trips: about 30 km from Ravenna, a 2,560 m runway and customs listed, with operations listed from 06:00 to 22:00 UTC. Bologna (BLQ / LIPE) when you need round-the-clock cover or a late departure, priced about £450 below Forlì on the same light jet from Biggin Hill. Rimini (RMI / LIPR) when the base is on the coast at Riccione or Rimini, priced about £300 above.
5Do I need a visa or a landing permit for Ravenna?
Britain is outside Schengen and Italy is inside it, so you clear passport control and customs at the first Italian landing. British passport holders need no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, with a passport issued less than ten years before arrival and valid for three months beyond departure. A British operator running a charter is a third-country carrier, so ENAC, the Italian civil aviation authority, authorises the flight as well: for an aircraft with fewer than 20 passenger seats, a blanket permit or a single taxi flight request made at least three working days ahead. We track the permit together with the aircraft paperwork.
6Can I take my dog to Ravenna on a private jet?
Yes. The dog travels in the cabin with you, and an EU country such as Italy asks for a microchip fitted before or with the rabies vaccination, a vaccination given at 12 weeks or older and at least 21 days old, and an Animal Health Certificate valid for ten days for entry. A British pet passport cannot be used. Italy does not ask for a tapeworm treatment on the way in, but a dog needs one from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arriving back in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
