Private jet charter in Baku

From London, Baku is one of the few capitals we quote where the honest answer to "can a light jet fly it nonstop?" is no, and nearly every decision that follows grows out of that. Private Jets UK builds the charter around the facts of the trip: the aircraft class, the fuel stop if there is one, the landing permit and the visa. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. Azerbaijan has one airport that matters, Heydar Aliyev International, with a business aviation terminal of its own that is separated from the passenger airport and has customs and immigration on site. The real choices are the cabin, the routing over Turkey and Georgia, how early the paperwork is filed, and whether the trip stays in the city, goes to the Absheron coast or climbs into the Caucasus foothills.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Baku depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, an Embraer Phenom 300E with a fuel stop in Istanbul and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Baku?

About five and a half hours nonstop in a Praetor 600 from the Midlands or the north, and roughly seven hours in a Phenom 300E once the fuel stop in Istanbul is added, with a clock difference of three hours in British summer and four in winter, because Baku sits on UTC+4. At 2,227 to 2,389 nautical miles this is a sector that no light jet can fly in one go and that few midsize jets should be asked to. The table gives the sector from each British field we use, with the stop marked where one is needed.

Door to door, and the clock on the wall

Leave a British airfield at seven in the morning in a Praetor 600 and you are on the ground at Baku between half past three and half past four in the afternoon, depending on the season. A light jet with the stop in Istanbul arrives between five and a little after six in the evening, so the first night in Baku is usually a rest and not a meeting. The airport stands about 20 km north-east of the city on the Baku Airport Highway, and the transfer to the centre typically takes about half an hour outside the rush hour. A same-day return from London is possible only on paper: the flying alone comes to eleven hours or more.

Range check: what flies nonstop and what stops

– Light jets stop. The published maximum range is 2,010 nautical miles for the Phenom 300E and 2,080 for the Learjet 75, while a planned routing over Turkey and Georgia runs from about 2,385 nautical miles out of Biggin Hill to about 2,630 out of Glasgow. Both aircraft therefore split the trip at Istanbul, in legs of 1,376 to about 1,620 nautical miles and then about 1,005, with roughly an hour on the ground;

– The Citation Latitude lists 2,700 nautical miles, which looks adequate on paper and leaves almost nothing once reserves, passengers and winds are taken off, so we quote it with a stop as well. The Challenger 350 (3,200 nautical miles) and the Praetor 600 (about 4,000) fly the whole route in one leg with a margin we are comfortable quoting;

– Past the light class the stop saves nothing. A Praetor 600 nonstop from Farnborough costs £36,550, against £35,750 for a Learjet 75 that has to stop, and the Praetor is nearly two hours quicker. Heavy aircraft earn their place for ten or more passengers, or when Baku is the first leg of a longer trip east.

Private jet flights from Baku

Baku works as a starting point as well as a destination. Georgia is a short hop west, the Caucasus foothills around Gabala are under an hour in a turboprop, Tashkent, Astana and Almaty lie a three-hour flight east, and trips to China stop here for fuel on the way. Typical one-way prices:

Baku as the fuel stop for Central Asia and China

Large-cabin jets flying from Britain to Guangzhou or Shanghai usually stop in Baku, and the reasons are practical: the business aviation terminal has customs and immigration on site, its handler lists round-the-clock availability, and the apron has 30 stands for aircraft from small jets to a Boeing Business Jet. Guangzhou is 3,442 nautical miles from Baku and Shanghai Pudong 3,581, both inside the range of a Global 6000. A technical stop still needs a landing permit and an airport parking slot, exactly like a visit, and crew visas are issued on arrival against the general declaration, valid for up to 72 hours according to the brokers who file them. Central Asia is closer: Tashkent is 908 nautical miles, Astana 1,136 and Almaty 1,262, all within a midsize jet.

Before you accept a Baku quote

– The permit comes first. A landing permit from the State Civil Aviation Agency and an airport parking slot are both mandatory, and brokers describe the permit as valid for 24 hours at the international airports. Move the arrival time by more than a few hours and the permit may need amending, so the quote should say who files it and when;

– The routing. Over Turkey and Georgia the planned distance runs 150 to 250 nautical miles beyond the figures in the tables above, which is why a Latitude or a Learjet that looks like a fit on a map is quoted with a stop. Ask for the Istanbul handler to be named in the quote, not added later;

– The visa for every passenger. An e-visa takes at least three days by the ordinary route, and a quote that does not mention it is leaving the oldest cause of a delayed departure to you.

Prices depending on the type of business jet

We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Baku:

online private jet directory

This is a small part of what is available. For a Baku booking the nearest suitable aircraft is often not in Britain. Istanbul, Tbilisi and the Gulf all have large charter fleets, and ASG Business Aviation, the Baku-based operator that describes itself as the largest private aviation centre in the Caucasus, flies Gulfstreams from the city itself, so a local aircraft is sometimes the cheapest way to start or finish a Caucasus itinerary. We look at the whole map before a price is sent.

Business aviation airports in Baku

One airport carries the traffic, and the others matter only when the itinerary leaves the city or crosses a border. It helps to know what each one is before a quote arrives with its name in it.

Airport What it gives you
Heydar Aliyev International
GYD / UBBB
The answer for every trip to Baku. About 20 km north-east of the centre and 3 m above sea level, listed as open round the clock with the control tower staffed all day and night. There are two runways, 4,000 m and 3,200 m, so no aircraft we charter is limited by length. Business flights use the Business Aviation Terminal run by ASG Business Aviation, which is separated from the passenger airport, has its own customs and immigration, a crew lounge and private VVIP rooms, and an apron with 30 stands that takes everything from a small jet to a Boeing Business Jet
Gabala International
GBB / UBBQ
Not an alternative to Baku but the airport for the foothills of the Greater Caucasus, about 20 km south of Gabala town and 112 nautical miles (207 km) from Baku by air. A single 3,600 m runway, long enough for any jet, though customs and handling arrangements for a private flight are confirmed per trip. A turboprop from Baku makes the journey in under an hour
Tbilisi International, Georgia
TBS / UGTB
The neighbouring capital, 251 nautical miles (465 km) west of Baku and 495 m above sea level. It matters for Caucasus itineraries that take in two countries, and as an alternate when the routing from Europe is planned over Georgia

Four points settle most Baku arrivals:

Choose the handler

Handling at Baku comes down to one name: ASG Business Aviation describes itself as the exclusive FBO for business aviation, charter and regular charter programme flights. Its standard package covers meet-and-greet, refuelling, cleaning, catering, hotel booking, limousines and car rental, with 24-hour availability. We book it with the permit and ask for the terminal door, not the passenger terminal, on the car instruction.

Hours, permits and slots

Heydar Aliyev is listed as open 24 hours, with the tower staffed round the clock. A landing permit and an airport parking slot are both mandatory, and handling is compulsory. Brokers file standard trips 24 to 48 hours ahead; for a Grand Prix weekend or an energy week we ask for several working days and a named alternate.

Visa and passport

British passport holders need an e-visa from the ASAN service, applied for at least three days before travel, with an urgent three-hour option for an extra fee. It is normally single entry, allows 30 days inside a 90-day validity, and has to be printed and carried. The passport should be valid for at least six months after arrival, with two blank pages.

Car and late nights

Give us the terminal as well as the flight, because a driver sent to the passenger airport will wait at the wrong end of the site. The business aviation terminal has vehicles that take guests across the apron, and the check-in takes minutes. For a late arrival we put the car, the crew hotel and the permit hours into the quote from the start.

Permits, visas and arrival in Baku

Two different bodies are involved before a private jet lands, and clients often mix them up. The landing permit for a foreign civil aircraft comes from the State Civil Aviation Agency, which the Azerbaijani transport ministry describes as the body that issues permits for scheduled and charter flights to the country's civil airports. AZANS, the Azeraeronavigation Air Traffic Department, is the national air navigation service provider: it provides the air traffic services in the country's airspace, and the permit itself comes from the Agency. Your handler and ours work with both.

Passengers on a British passport also need an e-visa, which the FCDO tells travellers to apply for through ASAN at least three days ahead. For a business visa or a work permit the FCDO advises contacting the Azerbaijani Embassy in the UK at least a month before travel, so a delegation should not leave that to the last week.

Azerbaijan may refuse entry to anyone who has been to certain areas of the south-west without Azerbaijani permission, and the FCDO page lists them: if your wider itinerary touches the region, say so before booking. Customs and immigration are cleared inside the business aviation terminal, where the handler quotes a check-in time of two to three minutes. On the way home the UK side is a General Aviation Report filed by the operator between 48 and 2 hours before departure, and any passenger who is not British or Irish and needs no visa for the UK needs an Electronic Travel Authorisation.

From the apron to the Boulevard

Baku is a seafront city with a walled core. The Old City, with the Shirvanshahs' Palace and the Maiden Tower, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the pedestrian Boulevard follows the Caspian shore, and the glass bulk of the Flame Towers and the curves of the Heydar Aliyev Centre mark the skyline. The distances that matter run outward: along the Absheron peninsula, to the rock art at Gobustan and to the foothills in the north-west.

Flying to Baku with a dog or a cat

Azerbaijan is outside the EU and is not on the list of countries that Britain treats as easy for pet travel, so the routine that works for a weekend in Europe does not apply, and there are two sets of rules to meet: the ones for entering Azerbaijan and the ones for coming back to Britain. The animal normally travels with you in the cabin. What takes the time is the paperwork, which starts months before the flight.

private flight with animals

What the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency publishes for dogs and cats, and what pet-travel services report in practice:

  • A veterinary certificate signed by the state veterinarian of the exporting country, written in that country's language and in English, with the dates of vaccinations and tests;
  • Rabies vaccination, and for dogs also distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis; for cats panleukopenia. The Agency text asks for it no later than 14 days before dispatch if the animal has not been vaccinated in the previous six months, while pet-travel services quote a rabies vaccination at least 21 days old;
  • A microchip, which pet-travel services recommend although the Agency text does not mention it;
  • Entry through Heydar Aliyev airport in Baku, which pet-travel services give as the only point of entry for live animals;
  • For the return, a dog needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before arrival in Britain, recorded with product, date and time. Cats are exempt.

What catches owners out on the Baku run

– The Agency's veterinary document for dogs and cats describes a 21-day quarantine before export and a 30-day quarantine in Azerbaijan after arrival, while services that move pets for owners say a travelling pet is admitted without quarantine on a health certificate and rabies cover. The two descriptions differ, so we ask the Agency for a written answer for your animal before a booking with a pet is taken;

– The way home sets the calendar. Azerbaijan is not on the list of countries from which Great Britain admits pets on the usual pet-travel rules, so the animal needs a GB pet health certificate and a rabies blood test: a sample taken at least 30 days after the vaccination, a result of at least 0.5 IU/ml from an EU-approved laboratory, and three months between the sample and the day you travel. Done before you leave Britain, the test stays valid while the rabies vaccinations are kept up to date;

– The tapeworm treatment for a dog has to be given in Baku, inside the 24 hour to 5 day window before the flight back. We book the vet appointment together with the aircraft, so that the time of treatment and the time of departure are agreed in one message and not in three.

Requirements for ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. Our managers confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight, and check the timetable of the blood test before a booking is taken.

The Baku calendar: an energy capital with a race and a holiday

Baku runs on a business calendar with a few fixed pegs. Summers are hot, with a mean temperature of about 26 degrees in July and August, winters are cool, with about 4 degrees in January and February, and strong winds blow all year. Knowing which week you want matters more than choosing an aircraft.

Late Feb to March
Novruz, the spring new year around the equinox on 21 March, is a five-day public holiday, preceded by four Tuesdays of celebrations with fires. Offices close for the holiday, the city is festive and corporate traffic is thin
Early June
Baku Energy Week, built around the Caspian Oil and Gas exhibition at the Baku Expo Centre and the Baku Energy Forum at the Baku Convention Center, usually in the first days of June. The week that fills the city with delegations from oil, gas and power companies
June to August
Heat. A mean of about 26 degrees in July and August, with the Caspian coast a little milder. Leisure trips lean to the shore and to the foothills
September
The Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, on the 6.003 km street circuit of the Baku City Circuit, is run in September. Earlier editions ran in April and June, so check the date, but the autumn slot is the one we plan around. The Uzeyir Hajibeyov International Music Festival also falls in September
October
A cultural month. The Baku Jazz Festival has run over eight days in late September and is also reported in October, and the Pomegranate Festival in Goychay is held in October. Traffic is moderate
December to February
Cool and windy, with the cold northerly khazri wind able to reach 144 km/h. Few corporate visits and some skiing trips to the northern resorts. Outside the event weeks, quotes are at their softest

Why a Grand Prix week costs more

Not the flying. The European large-cabin fleet is deep, and Baku has handled its share of big events, from the UN climate conference COP29 at Baku Stadium to the first European Games. What gets tight in a busy week is the apron: the business aviation terminal has 30 stands, and every jet that stays through the weekend occupies one. A booking made a fortnight before the Grand Prix can still be done, but it pays more and may mean an aircraft positioned from Istanbul or the Gulf, or parking at another airport for part of the stay. The same booking made six to eight weeks earlier is simpler and cheaper. Outside those weeks Baku is easy to fly into, and the constraint is the permit, not the aircraft.

Ways to bring the Baku price down

  • Move the dates a few days where you can. The week after the Grand Prix is calm, and so is the second half of October;
  • Look hard at the stop. A Phenom or a Learjet with one hour in Istanbul is the cheapest ticket, and from Biggin Hill the gap to a nonstop Praetor 600 is about £6,700, but past the Learjet the nonstop costs about the same and is nearly two hours quicker;
  • File early. The landing permit and the parking slot are the steps that cannot be rushed, and a booking with ten days in hand leaves the operator room to look for the cheaper aircraft;
  • Keep the aircraft with you on a multi-stop trip. Baku to Gabala to Tbilisi over a long weekend costs less as a single booking than as three, because the crew stays and does not reposition.

Types of flights

Baku produces a different mix from the European capitals we cover, because it is an energy centre, a motorsport venue and a hinge between Europe and Central Asia at the same time.

  • Energy and delegation travel, tied to the oil, gas and power companies and the ministries, with Baku Energy Week as the yearly peak and fixed dates that the client cannot move;
  • Motorsport: Grand Prix parties, team and sponsor groups, and the guests of the paddock, who care about the terminal door and the weekend parking;
  • Technical stops for large-cabin jets on the way from Britain to Guangzhou, Shanghai and Central Asia, where Baku is chosen for its customs and its round-the-clock handling;
  • Caucasus tours that combine Baku, the Absheron peninsula, Gobustan, Gabala and Sheki with Georgia, usually by turboprop or helicopter between the stops;
  • Leisure and heritage visits: the Old City, Novruz week and the coast in summer.

A word about the day trip, which this route does not allow. With eleven hours or more in the air for the return, the sensible plan is two or three nights on the ground, with the aircraft either parked at the terminal or sent away and called back. Parking is paid for and slots are limited in busy weeks, so we quote both options and let the dates decide.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. On the Baku route they come from the pattern of events and transit traffic, and it helps to know what produces them.

Where Baku empty legs come from

– The Grand Prix weekend. Aircraft arrive with guests and leave empty on the Monday, producing westbound legs towards Istanbul, Europe and the Gulf in the days afterwards;

– Energy Week and conference weeks. Delegations come in on charters from several countries, and the aircraft leave a day or two later without them;

– Traffic to the east. Jets repositioning between Europe and Central Asia or China pass through Baku, and a leg that ends or starts there is sometimes offered on its own.

Because the Baku corridor is thinner than the busiest London routes, a client who can name a few days rather than one has a far better chance than one who needs a particular evening. What you give up is the usual: the operator owns the date and the hour, and a leg can vanish when the original booking moves. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a Baku match the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter

In Baku a helicopter is a tool for the edges of a trip and not the middle. The centre is a half-hour drive from the airport, and the places where rotary flight changes the journey are the Absheron peninsula, the Gobustan reserve and the foothills of the Greater Caucasus. The times below are estimates for a typical twin or single turbine machine in good visibility.

Baku to the Ateshgah fire temple
a short hop into the Absheron peninsula, about 30 km
about 12 minutes
Baku to Gobustan
the rock art and mud volcano reserve, against 55 minutes by road
about 25 minutes
A sightseeing loop of the coast
the Old City, the Boulevard, the Flame Towers and the shore of the peninsula
about 30 minutes
Baku to Gabala
against three hours by road, through ground where the weather matters
about 1 hour
Baku to Sheki
against four hours by road to the Khan's Palace town
about 1 h 15 min

Before you plan around a helicopter

– A helicopter cannot land wherever it likes. A landing outside an aerodrome needs an authorised site, so a hotel lawn or a private villa has its status confirmed before we quote and not after. We ask the operator and the Azerbaijani authority for each site, and we do not assume that a place used last time is cleared this time;

– Wind sets the schedule. Baku has strong winds all year, and the cold northerly khazri can reach 144 km/h, which can ground a helicopter on a day when the jet lands without trouble. Cloud over the foothills does the same, so a mountain transfer needs a road alternative planned into the same day;

– Book the helicopter together with the jet. A Baku-based operator such as ASG lists Sikorsky S-92A, Leonardo AW139 and AW109SP helicopters in its fleet, so we usually source rotary aircraft locally, and the two crews then work to one timetable.

The machines in the quotes are the Airbus H125 for foothill work, the wider H130 for scenic and villa transfers, and the H135 and the Bell 429 where a twin is wanted. Local operators also fly larger types for bigger parties.

Baku charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a flight. Six typical jobs of the kind that come through our booking notes, described in outline, with the particulars changed.

TECHNICAL STOP · CHINA BOUND

A Global on its way east, an hour on the ground in Baku

London Luton - Baku and on to Guangzhou, Global 6000, about 5 h 05 min to the stop · 6 pax

The destination was never Baku. The party was flying to southern China, and Baku was chosen as the fuel stop for its customs on site and its round-the-clock handler. The landing permit and the parking slot were filed with the overflight permits, the crew visas went through on a general declaration, and the turn on the ground was timed at about an hour.

GRAND PRIX · THE APRON FILLS

Eight guests for the race weekend

Birmingham - Baku, Praetor 600, about 5 h 35 min · 8 pax

The race dates were fixed, and so was the question of where the jet would wait. With 30 stands at the business aviation terminal and the weekend busy, we booked the parking slot together with the outbound flight, and the return left on the Monday morning once the guests had had a night to recover.

ENERGY WEEK · A LIGHT JET AND A STOP

Four people, one hour in Istanbul

Biggin Hill - Baku, Phenom 300E via Istanbul, about 7 h 10 min · 4 pax

A small team for the first days of June. A nonstop Praetor was priced alongside, and the client took the Phenom because four people and four bags did not need the bigger cabin and the difference paid for two nights in the city. The Istanbul handler was in the quote, and the e-visas were applied for ten days ahead.

THE E-VISA · A LATE PASSENGER

A passenger whose visa was not there the night before

Manchester - Baku, Praetor 600, about 5 h 40 min · 6 pax

Five e-visas arrived on time and the sixth did not. The urgent three-hour service was used, the printout was in the passenger's hand before the car left for the airfield, and the aircraft left Manchester on schedule. The lesson was in the quote: the visa is every passenger's own job, and it is checked when the manifest is built.

A DOG ON BOARD · FOUR MONTHS' NOTICE

Four adults and a labrador for a long weekend

Southampton - Baku, Learjet 75 via Istanbul, about 7 h 30 min · 4 pax + dog

The booking took a day. The preparation took four months, because the rabies blood test has to be taken and then followed by three months before the animal can be brought back to Britain. We asked the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency for a written answer, booked the tapeworm treatment in Baku inside the 24 hour to 5 day window before the flight home, and the hotel accepted the dog.

EMPTY LEG · THE WAY BACK WEST

A jet already going your way

Baku - London Luton, Challenger 350 empty leg, about 5 h 30 min · 3 pax

The aircraft had brought a party in for the race weekend and was going home empty. The client gave us a three-day window instead of a date, which is what makes these work, and paid well below a fresh one-way charter for a Monday departure towards the London fields.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Baku

1How long is a private jet flight from London to Baku?

A Praetor 600 flies it nonstop in about 5 hours 35 minutes from Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle and about 5 hours 50 minutes from Glasgow, over roughly 2,227 to 2,389 nautical miles. Light jets and the Learjet 75 cannot do it in one leg and stop in Istanbul, which makes the trip about 7 hours 10 minutes in a Phenom 300E. Baku is 3 hours ahead of British Summer Time and 4 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

2How much does a private jet to Baku cost?

From about £29,350 one way in a Phenom 300E from Biggin Hill or London City, with a fuel stop in Istanbul included, and £35,750 to £36,000 in a Learjet 75 from Farnborough or Southampton. A nonstop Praetor 600 runs from £36,950 out of Leeds Bradford to £38,500 from Glasgow. The Grand Prix weekend and Baku Energy Week price above these figures.

3Which airport should a private jet use in Baku?

Heydar Aliyev International (GYD / UBBB) for every trip. It is about 20 km north-east of the centre, open round the clock, and has two runways of 4,000 m and 3,200 m. Business flights use the separate Business Aviation Terminal run by ASG Business Aviation, which has its own customs and immigration and an apron of 30 stands. Gabala (GBB / UBBQ) is the airport for the foothills, not an alternative to Baku.

4Do I need a visa or a permit to fly privately to Azerbaijan?

British passport holders need an e-visa from the ASAN service, applied for at least three days before travel, with an urgent three-hour option for a fee. It is printed and carried with a passport valid for at least six months after arrival. The flight itself needs a landing permit from the State Civil Aviation Agency and an airport parking slot, which we arrange with the handler; brokers file at least 24 to 48 hours ahead, and we ask for several working days.

5Can I fly on from Baku to Gabala, Sheki or Gobustan?

Yes. Gabala has its own airport 112 nautical miles from Baku, about 55 minutes in a Pilatus PC-12 against about three hours by road. Sheki is about four hours by road, and a helicopter cuts that to roughly an hour and a quarter. Gobustan is about 55 minutes by road and is a short helicopter hop of roughly 25 minutes.

6Can I take my dog to Baku on a private jet?

Usually yes: the dog normally travels in the cabin with you, but Azerbaijan is outside the EU and is not on the British list of easy pet-travel countries, so the paperwork starts months ahead: a veterinary certificate, vaccinations and a written answer from the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency, and for the return to Britain a GB pet health certificate and a rabies blood test taken at least three months before travel. A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 hours and 5 days before landing in Britain. Cats are exempt from the treatment.
