Private jet charter in Kiev
A private jet from London reaches the Polish and Moldovan borders of Ukraine in two and a half to just over three hours, but it cannot land in Kyiv, because the country's civil airspace is closed and the closure takes in Boryspil and Zhuliany alike. Private Jets UK says so before it quotes anything. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. What we can do is fly you to the nearest working airport, Rzeszow in south-east Poland as a rule, with Krakow, Lublin, Warsaw, Chisinau, Suceava and Iasi as the other ways in, and plan the road or rail leg that follows. Kyiv itself, with its two airports and its streets, is described further down as a reference for the day flights can operate again.

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of a private jet charter for a Kyiv-bound journey depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, the gateway airport, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote for the flight to the gateway. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.
You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:
- using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
- via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
- by landline or cell phone;
- via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).
Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from Biggin Hill, a Cessna Citation CJ3+ and two passengers aboard, flying to Rzeszow in south-east Poland, the nearest working gateway for Kyiv. There is no price for Kyiv itself, because no flight to Kyiv can be arranged while civil airspace is closed. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.
Can you charter a private jet to Kyiv?
No. A British private jet cannot be chartered to land at Kyiv Boryspil (KBP / UKBB) or Kyiv Zhuliany (IEV / UKKK) while Ukrainian civil airspace is closed, and no broker can honestly put a price on it. This is not a question of money or of finding a bold operator. Five separate layers say no, and the first four have to change before a single flight is possible.
Why the answer is no
– Ukraine's own notice to airmen. It prohibits use of the airspace by every aircraft except Ukrainian state aircraft and those cleared by the General Staff, and it states that no air traffic service is provided. Nobody can file a civil flight plan into it;
– The European safety regulator. EASA's conflict zone bulletin tells operators not to operate in the Ukrainian flight information regions, and spells out that this includes landing at and departing from airports inside them;
– British rules. UK air operators served with a direction under the Aviation Security Act are prohibited from entering the Ukrainian flight information regions, and an operator that has not been served is told to contact the Department for Transport before going near them;
– Insurance. Standard aviation policies are widely reported to carry a war-risk exclusion for Ukraine, and the insurance industry itself names the lack of affordable cover as one of the main obstacles to any return of flights;
– The Foreign Office advice. It advises against all travel to most of Ukraine. The only regions where it gives the lower level of warning, against all but essential travel, are in the west, and Kyiv is not one of them.
None of this is a matter of opinion for a broker to soften. If someone offers a seat on a private jet to Kyiv, ask which airspace permission, which insurer and which British authority sit behind the offer, and expect silence.
What we do, and what we do not
– We price and book the aircraft to the gateway, arrange handling and customs there, file what is needed for the return to Britain, and tell you which rail tickets a foreign passport holder can actually buy. We keep the jet waiting or release it, whichever costs less for your dates, and we bring you home from the same airport;
– We do not quote or sell a flight to a Ukrainian airfield, do not arrange war-risk cover, and do not provide security, escort or evacuation inside Ukraine. The Foreign Office tells anyone who goes against its advice to take advice from a private security company, and a charter broker is not one;
– The decision to travel, the Ukrainian side of the journey and the insurance for it stay with you. The Foreign Office warns that travel insurance can be invalidated if you travel against its advice, so read the policy before you book the gateway flight and not after it.
Reopening is expected to be phased and cautious, and published plans name Lviv, in the west, as the likely first airport. We will quote Kyiv when the Ukrainian notice has been withdrawn, the European bulletin and the British direction no longer apply and an insurer will write the risk. Until all four are true, the honest product is the flight to a gateway, and the rest of this page is about doing that well.
How long does it take to get from London to Kyiv?
The aircraft is the short part. A light jet reaches Rzeszow from the London fields in about 2 hours 30 minutes, and Poland keeps Central European time, one hour ahead of Britain. What decides the length of the trip is the ground leg after the landing, which runs to nine hours or more by rail. For comparison, the straight line from Biggin Hill to Kyiv is 1,210 nautical miles, or 2,241 km, a sector a jet would cover in a little over three hours if it were allowed to. At 868 to 1,050 nautical miles, Rzeszow is a light-jet sector from the south of England and a job for a bigger cabin from Scotland or Northern Ireland. The table gives the flight from each British field we use.

Door to door: why Kyiv is a day and a night away
Leave Biggin Hill at seven in the morning and you are on the ground at Rzeszow at about half past ten Polish time. The road to Przemyśl, the rail head for Ukraine, is about 90 km and typically takes one to one and a half hours. The published day train from Przemyśl to Kyiv leaves in the morning and takes about nine and a half hours, so a same-day departure from London usually means a night in Przemyśl and a Kyiv arrival in the evening of the following day. The overnight sleeper from Warsaw is listed from the early evening and reaches Kyiv the next morning after roughly 14 hours, which on the listed timetables makes Warsaw the faster way to Kyiv even though it is further from the border. Either way, plan on a full day and a night between the British airfield and a hotel in Kyiv, and do not plan a same-day return.
Light jet or midsize: how the choice goes on this route
– Up to four people, take a light jet. The aircraft stops at the Polish side, and from there you carry your bags by hand through border control and onto a train, so a big cabin buys nothing at the far end;
– Past four, or when the party travels with equipment, we quote a midsize jet alongside, but the real difference is the ground leg. Five or six people on a rail journey is easy to arrange, and a group of ten needs a coach or a block of berths booked weeks ahead;
– The aircraft can wait at the gateway or go home empty. A jet on standby is paid for while it waits, and a one-way price already includes bringing the aircraft back to base, so for a stay of several days it is normally cheaper to release it and book the way home separately.

Rzeszow is the nearest door, but it is not always the right one. The choice depends on the train that follows, on whether the airport is open to civil traffic on the day, and on how many people and how many bags travel. The prices below are for the same light jet from Biggin Hill to each gateway, so the differences are the airports and not the aircraft.

Flying time is only half of the comparison. The next box gives the ground leg from each gateway to Kyiv, taken from published timetables and from road distances, so treat the figures as planning numbers and not as promises.

Which gateway for whom
Rzeszow if the shortest road to the frontier matters most, and if you can live with a morning train and a hotel night in Przemyśl. Krakow or Warsaw if you want to arrive in Kyiv early the next morning on an overnight train, and Krakow is also the fallback when Polish air navigation suspends civil flights at Rzeszow for a few hours. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, Krakow is priced about £1,000 lower than Rzeszow and Warsaw about £700 lower. Chisinau, Suceava and Iasi are the southern doors: longer in the air and longer on the ground, and they make sense only when the programme ends in the south or west of Ukraine, or when you are already in Romania or Moldova.
Before you accept a gateway quote
– Which airport, and what is arranged at the other end. A quote to Rzeszow that does not name the handler, the customs arrangement and the return plan is half a quote, and a quote that does not mention the train is half a plan;
– Whether the aircraft waits or goes home. Standby and an empty return are different bills, and the cheaper one depends on how many days you stay, so we price both when the stay is longer than a night.
Prices depending on the type of business jet
We can clearly show the high dependence of the cost of the flight, on the type of aircraft - we have collected approximate data, at the price of 1 flight hour, for various types of business jets:

The cost per hour indicated in the table is preliminary and does not constitute an offer or a commercial offer. Exact prices are available from the managers of the company.
Online Calculator
If you want to make an urgent calculation of the cost of a private plane flight, use our online calculator. Just fill in all the fields of the form with a note that you are interested in a specific model of the aircraft and get the final price. NB! - the figures are sent to you by email or messenger, please carefully fill in the contact details to get the calculation.
All our calculations are as transparent as possible for you. After receiving the request, we will prepare a beautiful offer - where the costs and the final price will be clearly described. The exact price is agreed in advance and is written in the contract, so you can be sure of the final cost.
Private jets are ready to take off
Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for the Kyiv gateways:
Light jets, the usual choice for a small party
At about 2 hours 30 minutes to Rzeszow this is the natural class for up to four people with hand luggage. Everything past the aircraft is carried by hand and by train, so the money is better spent on the hotel night and the rail berths.
Midsize, for a larger party or a longer stay
Five to eight people, or a trip where one aircraft stays at the gateway for a few days. The hold matters less than the number of seats and berths you can book on the ground.
Super-midsize and large
For a delegation travelling as one party, or a programme in which Poland is only the first stop. Every gateway runway on this page is long enough for these aircraft.
Turboprops
Not for the flight from Britain but for hops inside Poland, for example from Warsaw to Rzeszow, where a turboprop is slower than a jet and a good deal cheaper.
Helicopters
None for Ukraine: the airspace closure covers helicopters as it covers jets. On the Polish side a helicopter can link an airfield and a hotel, but the airspace near the frontier carries military restrictions, so we ask before we plan one.

This is a small part of what is available. Warsaw and Krakow see regular business traffic, and an aircraft can often reach them from Prague, Vienna or Berlin, which can lower the positioning cost. Rzeszow is the stricter airfield, so for dates close to departure Krakow and Warsaw are usually the easier places to find a jet.

Business aviation airports for Kyiv
Kyiv has two airports and neither can be used while the airspace is closed. The ones that matter in practice lie to the west and south, and they are not interchangeable: each fits a different onward leg.
| Airport | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Kyiv Boryspil KBP / UKBB |
The country's main international airport, about 29 km east of the city, with two parallel concrete runways of 4,000 m and 3,500 m and a VIP check-in, lounge and boarding area in Terminal D. It carries no civil traffic while the airspace is closed, so it cannot be quoted |
| Kyiv Zhuliany (Igor Sikorsky) IEV / UKKK |
The business aviation airport of the capital, about 7 km south-west of the centre, with a single asphalt runway of 2,310 m. It was Ukraine's main business aviation airport before the closure, and it is closed with the rest of the civil airspace |
| Rzeszow-Jasionka RZE / EPRZ |
The nearest civil airport with customs, 8 km north of Rzeszow and about 90 km from the rail head at Przemyśl. One runway of 3,200 m by 45 m and an ILS approach to Category II. Directories list it as an airport of entry with compulsory handling, no slot requirement and Excel Handling, LS Airport Services and FCG OPS among the handlers. Customs and immigration are listed as available round the clock, while handling is listed from the early morning to about 23:00 UTC and the tower to about 01:00 UTC, so a late arrival is agreed in advance. The airfield lies inside a Polish military-priority area, and the air navigation service has suspended civil flights here for short periods, so every flight is checked against the notices on the day and Krakow is kept as the fallback |
| Krakow John Paul II, Balice KRK / EPKK |
About 11 km west of the city, with a 2,550 m runway, a VIP terminal and business lounge run by the airport, customs, and Excel Handling and LS Airport Services among the listed handlers. Directories list it as slot-coordinated, with prior permission for non-scheduled flights, so the request goes in early. It is about 170 km from Rzeszow by the A4, two to two and a half hours by car, and the gateway for the rail through ticket that changes at Przemyśl |
| Lublin LUZ / EPLB |
About 10 km east of the city, with a 2,520 m runway, customs, compulsory handling, no slot requirement and a lounge with a separate non-Schengen area. Directories list limited customs hours with 48 hours' notice, while the airport says it operates round the clock, so we confirm the hours in writing. Civil flights at Lublin and Rzeszow have been suspended together, so it is a second option and not a fallback for Rzeszow |
| Warsaw Chopin WAW / EPWA |
About 10 km from the centre, with runways of 3,690 m and 2,800 m, listed as open round the clock with customs, compulsory handling and slots required. Excel Handling and Welcome Executive run business aviation facilities, and a local night rule restricts late arrivals and departures, so we plan a daytime landing. The reason to use it is the overnight train to Kyiv, which leaves from Warsaw Wschodnia in the early evening |
| Chisinau RMO / LUKK |
About 13 km south-east of the city, with runways of 3,590 m and 2,383 m and a VIP terminal. Directories list it as an airport of entry open round the clock, with customs, no slot requirement, compulsory handling and Euro Jet and FCG among the handlers. Moldova is reported to keep sections of its own airspace closed near the Ukrainian boundary, so the approach routing is agreed in advance. Moldova is outside Schengen and keeps Eastern European time, two hours ahead of Britain |
| Suceava and Iasi SCV / LRSV, IAS / LRIA |
Two Romanian regional airports. Suceava has a 2,460 m runway 12 km east of the city, in the north of the country within reach of the Siret crossing into Ukraine. Iasi has a 2,400 m runway 8 km east of the city, close to the Moldovan border, with an ILS approach to Category I. We have not confirmed a dedicated business aviation terminal at either, so handling and customs are agreed by name before a quote |
Four things to settle before a gateway landing:
Pick the gateway by the train
The trains set the length of the trip. The published day train from Przemyśl leaves in the morning, the sleeper from Warsaw in the early evening, and the through tickets from Krakow include evening departures. Fly to the gateway whose onward departure fits your landing time, and give us the train as well as the date.
Hours, slots and permits
Handling is compulsory at the Polish gateways above, Warsaw and Krakow are slot-coordinated, and a British operator running a commercial charter into Poland needs a permit from the Polish Civil Aviation Authority. The operator files it at least three working days ahead for one to nine flights, and we track it with the aircraft paperwork.
Border and passport
Poland is in Schengen and Britain is not, so you clear the border at the gateway: no visa for up to 90 days in any 180, a passport less than ten years old and valid for three months beyond departure, and on a first visit a photograph and fingerprints at the EU border system. The Ukrainian frontier is a second, separate crossing.
Car and the night in between
Give us the terminal and the train as well as the flight. A driver told only "airport" may wait at the wrong door, the road from Rzeszow to Przemyśl takes an hour or more, and a morning landing with a morning train means a hotel night, which belongs in the plan from the start.

Border, passport and the Foreign Office
The first landing in the Schengen area is where the formalities happen, and they are the same as for any Polish destination: passport control and customs at the gateway, the aircraft looked after by a handler, and a General Aviation Report for the flight back to Britain, filed not earlier than 48 hours and not later than 2 hours before departure. The frontier with Ukraine is a second crossing. British citizens may enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180, completing an immigration card and showing proof of funds if asked, and the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service decides every entry. On the Polish side, access to a strip along the frontier is restricted except at the crossing points, which is one more reason to hand the road leg to a driver who knows them.

The Foreign Office advice is plain about what it cannot do. The British Embassy in Kyiv cannot help in person, the Foreign Office cannot facilitate a departure from Ukraine or an evacuation, and travel insurance can be invalidated if you travel against the advice. For anyone who goes anyway it points to private security companies, and says it does not endorse any of them. That is where the Ukrainian side of the journey belongs, and a charter broker is the wrong place to look for it.
Kyiv itself: a reference for the day flights resume
Kyiv is a city of close to three million people on both banks of the Dnipro, the capital and the centre of business and commerce in Ukraine, and the home of most of its largest companies. The older, hilly core lies on the right bank and the left bank is mostly residential. What follows is a guide for planning a visit once flights can operate again, and it does not mean that Kyiv can be reached by air while the airspace is closed.
about 29 km east of the city, the larger of the two airportsabout 29 km
about 7 km south-west of the city, the business aviation fieldabout 7 km
an 11th-century cathedral founded by Yaroslav the Wise, with mosaics and frescoes of the same century; a World Heritage site together with the Lavraupper town
a monastery founded in the 11th century on the hills above the Dnipro, with cave complexes and a bell tower 96.5 m highright bank
a steep historic street from the upper town down to Podil, with St Andrew's Church and the Bulgakov Museumto Podil
the main street and the central square; central streets close to traffic at weekends and on holidayscity centre
A business visitor will spend most of the time on the right bank, between the government quarter, the head offices and the old city, and the universities add a second rhythm: Taras Shevchenko National University was founded in the 19th century and is one of the oldest in the country. Podil, the lower and older district by the river, is where the historic merchant town stood. Distances inside the centre are short, which is why the airport matters more than the city plan when the time comes to book.
Flying to the gateway with a dog or a cat
The flight to Poland is the easy part of a pet journey. The animal sits beside you in the cabin, and on a sector of two and a half hours most simply sleep. The difficult part is the way back, because a pet that crosses into Ukraine returns to Britain under much stricter rules than a pet that stays in Poland.

What a Polish gateway asks for when a pet arrives from Britain:
- An ISO microchip, fitted before the rabies vaccination or at the same time;
- A rabies vaccination given when the animal was at least 12 weeks old, with 21 days elapsed before it travels. A vaccination given before the microchip does not count;
- An Animal Health Certificate for each trip, issued by an Official Veterinarian and valid for ten days for entry to the EU. A British pet passport cannot be used to enter the EU;
- A written declaration that the animal is not travelling for sale or a change of ownership, and no more than five animals per traveller;
- For dogs, a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival back in Britain, recorded on the paperwork. Cats are exempt.
What changes if the animal goes into Ukraine
– The gov.uk guidance for pets coming from Ukraine to Great Britain asks for a microchip, a rabies vaccination followed by a blood test 30 days later, a three-month wait after the blood test and a tapeworm treatment for dogs. A pet that has crossed the frontier should not be expected to come home on the usual Polish paperwork;
– The same guidance tells anyone leaving the UK with a dog, cat or ferret to phone the Animal and Plant Health Agency before going. We do that call with you, but we cannot make the rules lighter;
– Most owners therefore leave the animal with a sitter or a kennel in Poland and collect it on the way home, when the usual Polish route back applies. Tell us which you prefer when you ask for the quote.
Requirements for cats, ferrets, birds and anything less usual are collected on our flying with pets guide. For the entry point and the paperwork on the way home, we confirm both in writing before the flight, and our managers check the position for your dates before a booking is taken.
The Kyiv year, for the day flights resume
Seasons matter less on this page than the airspace does, and a calendar for a city that cannot be reached by air is a planning aid and not a booking guide. It is short for that reason, and we will rebuild it from real booking patterns when flights can operate.
Ways to bring the price of the journey down
- Compare the gateways. On the same light jet from Biggin Hill, Krakow is priced about £1,000 lower than Rzeszow and Warsaw about £700 lower. The saving is real and so is the longer drive or train, so let the onward leg decide;
- Do not keep the aircraft waiting for the whole stay. A jet on standby is paid for while it waits, and for a stay of several days it is normally cheaper to release it and book the way home separately, with an empty leg from Poland where one exists;
- Move the date a day or two where you can. Warsaw runs a night rule, Krakow is slot-coordinated and Rzeszow can be suspended for short periods, so a flexible arrival hour lowers both the risk and the cost.
Types of flights
Because the aircraft stops short of Ukraine, the work on this corridor is different from a normal city charter. It is closer to a logistics job than to a holiday booking, and the jobs fall into a few groups.
- Business travel to a Polish or Moldovan gateway, with a rail or road leg to Kyiv arranged by the traveller or by a specialist on the Ukrainian side;
- Family journeys between Britain and Ukraine, where the aircraft covers the long part and the family takes the train for the rest;
- Delegation and diplomatic travel, which usually needs a larger cabin and a handler who can move a group through a gateway quickly;
- Medical flights from a gateway: a patient who reaches Poland by land or rail can be flown on with doctors and equipment aboard, with the medical team responsible for the clinical side;
- Aircraft positioning, for example an operator moving a jet to Poland ahead of a booking, which sometimes produces an empty leg for travellers returning to Britain.
The day trip, the style of trip that suits most European capitals, does not exist on this corridor. There is no way to land at ten in the morning, hold a meeting and fly home the same evening, because the meeting is a day and a night away. We say so at the start, so that nobody books around a timetable that cannot be kept.
Empty Legs
An empty leg is a repositioning flight with nobody aboard, offered at a fraction of the usual price. There are no empty legs to Kyiv, because there are no flights to it. There are empty legs from the Polish gateways to Britain, and they matter most to the traveller who comes out of Ukraine on a date that depended on a train.
Where gateway empty legs come from
– The return after a drop. An aircraft that brings a party to Rzeszow, Krakow or Warsaw goes home empty unless someone books it, and that leg can be offered;
– Business traffic between Poland and Britain. Warsaw and Krakow see regular business traffic, so aircraft move between them and the London fields often enough that a three-day window gives a real chance;
– Positioning for a later booking. A jet sent to Poland to meet a client the next day sometimes has a free leg on the way.
Dates are the catch. A traveller who can leave on any of several days will find a match far more often than one who needs a fixed evening, because the operator sets the departure hour and can withdraw the leg if the first booking changes. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page, and we flag a match from Poland the day an operator releases it.

Helicopter charter
A helicopter does not change the answer for Kyiv. The airspace closure covers every type of aircraft, and a civil helicopter flight into it is no more possible than a jet flight. In Poland a helicopter can link an airfield with a hotel or a meeting, subject to an agreed landing site and the landowner's consent, but the airspace near the Ukrainian frontier carries military restrictions, so we ask for written confirmation before planning a rotary leg there.

Kyiv-bound journeys from the booking notes: six typical set-ups
What the corridor looks like once a quote turns into a plan. Six typical set-ups, described in outline, with the particulars changed. In every one the aircraft ends at a gateway and the rest is the traveller's own arrangement.
THE NEAREST GATEWAY
Rzeszow in the morning, Przemyśl by lunchtime
Biggin Hill - Rzeszow, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 30 min · 3 pax
Wheels up at seven, on the ground a little after half past ten Polish time, through customs at the airport and into a car for the 90 km to Przemyśl. The day train leaves in the morning, so the party booked a hotel in Przemyśl and travelled the next day. The quote showed the night and the car as separate lines, so nothing on the day came as a surprise.
THE NIGHT TRAIN
A Warsaw landing and a berth on the sleeper
Biggin Hill - Warsaw, Citation CJ3+, about 2 h 20 min · 2 pax
Landing in the middle of the morning left the whole day in Warsaw, so the plan was a lounge, a late lunch and a car to Warsaw Wschodnia for the early-evening sleeper. Berths on that train go weeks ahead, so they were bought before the aircraft was confirmed, and the arrival in Kyiv came the next morning.
THE THROUGH TICKET
Krakow and one booking all the way
Farnborough - Krakow, Phenom 300E, about 2 h 10 min · 4 pax
The rail operator sells a single ticket from Krakow that changes at Przemyśl and runs on to Kyiv, in second class, with booking opening a month ahead. The party chose Krakow over Rzeszow for that reason, and for the airport's VIP terminal, and the lower flight price was a bonus.
THE SOUTHERN ROUTE
Chisinau and a long day on the road
London Luton - Chisinau, Phenom 300E, about 3 h 10 min · 5 pax
The destination was in the south of Ukraine, so Chisinau was the sensible door: a longer flight, then a coach across the border. The handler at Chisinau was agreed by name, the approach routing was confirmed because Moldova is reported to keep sections of its airspace closed, and the party was told in advance to expect a full day from landing to the first Ukrainian hotel.
A DOG IN THE PARTY
The spaniel stays in Poland
Southampton - Krakow, Citation XLS+, about 2 h 20 min · 3 pax + dog
The owners decided against taking the dog across the frontier, and left it with a sitter in Krakow. The Animal Health Certificate was dated for entry to Poland, and the tapeworm treatment for the way home was booked with a Krakow vet inside the 24 to 120 hour window. Collecting the dog on the way back meant the usual route home, on the same certificate.
THE WAY BACK
A window of days and an empty leg
Rzeszow - London Luton, Phenom 300E empty leg, about 2 h 20 min · 2 pax
The traveller came out of Ukraine by train on a date that depended on tickets, so the date could not be fixed in advance. A window of three days instead of a single date matched an aircraft returning to Britain from Poland, and the price came in well below a fresh one-way charter.
Frequently asked questions about flying to Kyiv
1Can I charter a private jet to Kyiv?
Not while Ukrainian civil airspace is closed. The country's own notice prohibits use of its airspace by everything except state aircraft, the European safety regulator tells operators not to operate there, including landing and departing, British operators served with a direction are prohibited from entering the Ukrainian flight information regions, and standard aviation insurance is reported to exclude the country. A broker who quotes a flight to Boryspil or Zhuliany is quoting something that cannot happen. We fly you to the nearest working airport, and the price on this page is for that flight.
2How long does it take to get from London to Kyiv by private jet and rail?
The flight is the short part: about 2 hours 30 minutes from London City or Biggin Hill to Rzeszow in a light jet, 2 hours 15 minutes to Krakow and 2 hours 20 minutes to Warsaw. From there it is a ground journey of roughly nine and a half hours by the published day train from Przemyśl, or about 14 hours on the overnight sleeper from Warsaw. With a night in between, allow a full day and a night from the British airfield to Kyiv, and do not plan to be back the same day.
3How much does it cost to fly towards Kyiv?
From about £11,850 one way on a light jet from London City or Biggin Hill to Rzeszow, £12,000 to £12,250 in a Phenom from Luton or Farnborough, £15,500 to £16,250 in a midsize cabin from the south and Midlands, and £20,850 to £21,450 from Scotland. These are prices for the flight to Rzeszow only. There is no price for Kyiv, and rail, hotel and the Ukrainian side are outside our quote.
4Which airport should I use for Kyiv: Rzeszow, Krakow, Warsaw or Chisinau?
Rzeszow (RZE / EPRZ) is the nearest, about 90 km from the rail head at Przemyśl, but Polish air navigation can suspend civil flights there for short periods, so Krakow (KRK / EPKK), about 170 km away, is the fallback. Warsaw (WAW / EPWA) suits the overnight train to Kyiv, and Chisinau (RMO / LUKK) and Suceava (SCV / LRSV) are the southern doors, with coaches from Chisinau taking roughly 10 to 13 hours. Choose by the onward train and tell us what time you want to reach Kyiv.
5Does the Foreign Office advice affect my insurance and my support?
Yes. The Foreign Office advises against all travel to most of Ukraine and against all but essential travel to a handful of western regions. It warns that travel insurance can be invalidated if you travel against its advice, that the British Embassy in Kyiv cannot help in person and that the Foreign Office cannot arrange a departure or an evacuation. We sell only the flight to the gateway, so check the insurance wording and take security advice before you book the flight, and not after it.
6When will flights to Kyiv be possible?
We cannot give a date, and nobody else can honestly do so. Reopening is expected to be phased, with Lviv widely named as the likely first airport. We will quote Kyiv only when the Ukrainian notice closing the airspace has been withdrawn, the European safety bulletin no longer tells operators to stay out, the British direction no longer applies and an insurer will write the risk. Until then, leave your details in the form above and we will contact you on the day we can quote.
