Private jet charter in Vietnam

A Challenger 605 that leaves a London airfield in the morning can be on the ground in Hanoi before breakfast the next day, with an hour at Dubai on the way, and the part of a Vietnamese charter that takes longer than the flight is the paperwork. Every landing needs a permit from the civil aviation authority, the airports have no fixed-base operators of the Western kind, and the three or four airports that matter are a long way from one another. Private Jets UK builds a Vietnamese trip around those facts. Our customers have access to 6,500 jets of all types and configurations available for rent. We will help you choose the best option based on your needs and objectives. Our catalog contains the models from the largest manufacturers: Gulfstream, Dassault, Embraer, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Learjet, Cessna, Beechcraft, Pilatus, HondaJet, etc. We have established partnerships with the world's largest airlines and VIP terminals, which means we can offer you favourable flight conditions and a high level of service. Our experts will manage the organization of your flight - starting with paperwork, agreements, etc., and ending with a transfer and meeting at the airport. Our company provides a full range of business aviation and concierge services. In Vietnam that usually means a permit applied for a week ahead, a local handling agent who clears the crew and passengers, and for a party bound for the beaches or the bay a second leg by turboprop, helicopter or seaplane.

private jet charter

At your request, the aviation consultants of Private Jets UK will help you choose the jet with the suitable technical parameters (production year, flight hours, and home base). The cost of the private jet charter in Vietnam depends on many factors, such as the model of the business jet, the number of passengers, departure and destination airports, type of flight, duration of parking, additional services, etc. Therefore, we calculate the price of each order individually taking into account your wishes. You can use an online calculator to get an instant charter quote. Please indicate your real contact details to get the final calculation.

You can calculate the cost of your flight in several ways:

  • using an online calculator on the website (however, it shows only the approximate price);
  • via Messenger (WhatsApp or Telegram);
  • by landline or cell phone;
  • via e-mail (jets@private-jets.co.uk).

Please note that the above-mentioned price is indicative only. It is calculated on this basis: a departure from London Biggin Hill, a Bombardier Challenger 605 to Hanoi Noi Bai with one technical stop in Dubai and two passengers aboard. If you want to get a personal quote, just fill out the online booking form below. Our aviation consultant will make the calculation within 20 minutes, and then contact you to specify the details of the flight.

How long does it take to fly to Vietnam?

Vietnam keeps Universal Time plus seven hours all year and never changes its clocks, so it is seven hours ahead of Britain in winter and six in summer. A party that leaves a London airfield in the morning reaches Hanoi in the early hours of the next day, local time, so the night is spent in the cabin. These are the sectors from London Biggin Hill on the lowest-priced aircraft that can fly them with one stop in Dubai, gate to gate and counting about an hour on the ground:

London to Hanoi
5,956 nautical miles planned, the capital and the northern gateway, for Ha Long Bay and Sa Pa
about 14 h 35 min
London to Hue
6,153 nautical miles planned, the old imperial city, on the central coast
about 15 h
London to Da Nang
6,188 nautical miles planned, the central coast, with Hoi An and the beach resorts
about 15 h 05 min
London to Ho Chi Minh City
6,222 nautical miles planned, the commercial capital of the south, entered at Tan Son Nhat
about 15 h 10 min
London to Nha Trang
6,337 nautical miles planned, the south-central coast, through Cam Ranh
about 15 h 25 min

Why most flights stop in Dubai

A direct line from Biggin Hill to Noi Bai measures 5,174 nautical miles once the allowance for airways is added, and the same journey through Dubai comes to 5,956, split into 3,067 from London and 2,889 onward to Vietnam. That is about 780 nautical miles more on the map, and the extra distance is what lets a much smaller and cheaper aircraft do the job.

We plan a leg at no more than about 85 percent of the published range. A Challenger 605, rated at 4,000 nautical miles, keeps both legs inside that limit to every Vietnamese airport in our tables, so it is the lowest-priced aircraft for the whole country. A Global 6000 would need 86 percent of its range to fly to Hanoi without a stop and so stops as well. A Gulfstream G550 (about 77 percent), a G650ER (about 69 percent) and a Global 7500 (about 70 percent) can plan Hanoi nonstop, in a little under eleven hours, and the operator confirms that in writing. To Ho Chi Minh City, 5,723 nautical miles, only the G650ER and the Global 7500 qualify.

The quote also says whether a second crew flies or the pilots rest at the stop.

The exact flight time depends on the model of the business jet, as well as the speed of the tail or head wind. Our consultant will make a detailed calculation of the flight time for the chosen business jet.

What these figures leave out

– The airport changes the price by several thousand pounds and no more, because all five lie at much the same distance from Dubai. From London Biggin Hill a Challenger 605 reaches Hanoi for about £118,200, Hue for about £122,000, Da Nang for about £122,700, Ho Chi Minh City for about £123,350 and Nha Trang for about £125,550. The headline price is for Hanoi, the gateway with the lowest figure among the major cities, and it is not a quote for the south;

– Landing and handling charges at Dubai, the Vietnamese permits and the local agent's fee come on top. The figures are one-way, and on a sector this long a one-way price includes the empty flight home, because an aircraft that delivers a party to Vietnam seldom has a passenger waiting to bring back. A larger cabin such as a Global 6000 from Manchester to Hanoi costs about £162,900.

Before you plan a Vietnamese loop

– A landing permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam normally takes about four business days, and a request at short notice can sometimes be turned round in a day, at the authority's discretion. A permit to land at an airport that is not an entry point adds a couple of days;

– A permit is typically valid for 72 hours from the approved time, and an arrival outside that window, a new crew or passenger, or a changed registration means a revision, which needs a day or two of notice. A domestic sector is a separate request, with its own schedule;

– Some of the smaller airfields publish their charts only in Vietnamese, and the handler can translate them, but it is the crew that decides whether to use them. Whether the aircraft that brought you from Britain flies the domestic sectors itself or a Vietnamese operator takes over is settled in writing for each itinerary before the quote is final.

We can arrange the flights from any cities in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) and European countries. Due to a large database of available business jets, we can help you find an optimal jet and crew. If you have any questions about the departure or the flight itself, you can ask them using the form below:

Private jets are ready to take off

Our database contains over 6,500 business jets (about 3,500 in Europe and 3,000 in the rest of the world) of different configurations and production years. The list of models is constantly updated. Unfortunately, we can't post a full list of available jets on our website due to confidentiality issues. Please contact the managers of the company for more accurate information. We will help you choose a suitable model taking into account your wishes. These are the typical choices for Vietnam:

Long range and ultra-long range

The cabins that can plan Hanoi without a stop, and the largest parties to the south with a stop. Thirteen hours in the air is long enough for a flat bed to decide it.

Gulfstream G650ER · 14 seatsfrom £7,700/h
Bombardier Global 7500 · 14 seatsfrom £8,300/h
Gulfstream G550 · 16 seatsfrom £6,700/h
Bombardier Global 6000 · 13 seatsfrom £6,400/h

Large cabins

The right size for a family or a delegation of ten. The Challenger 605 is the lowest-priced aircraft we plan to any Vietnamese airport, and a Falcon 900LX or a Gulfstream G450 gives more room on the same stop.

Bombardier Challenger 605 · 12 seatsfrom £4,350/h
Dassault Falcon 900LX · 12 seatsfrom £5,400/h
Gulfstream G450 · 13 seatsfrom £5,800/h
Embraer Legacy 650 · 13 seatsfrom £4,600/h

Super-midsize

Not for the journey from Britain, but the right size once you are in the region: Hanoi to Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok or Singapore, or Da Nang to Nha Trang.

Cessna Citation XLS+ · 9 seatsfrom £3,100/h
Embraer Praetor 600 · 9 seatsfrom £3,400/h
Cessna Citation Latitude · 9 seatsfrom £3,900/h
Bombardier Challenger 350 · 9 seatsfrom £4,000/h

Light jets

The aircraft for a short hop between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat or Phu Quoc, when a locally licensed aircraft of this size is the one available.

Cessna Citation M2 · 7 seatsfrom £2,200/h
Cessna Citation CJ3+ · 7 seatsfrom £2,400/h
Embraer Phenom 300E · 8 seatsfrom £2,600/h
Learjet 75 Liberty · 8 seatsfrom £3,000/h

Turboprops

A Pilatus PC-12 or a King Air takes a party of up to nine on the short coastal sectors, from Da Nang to Hue or from Hanoi to the bay of Ha Long.

Pilatus PC-12 NGX · 9 seatsfrom £1,400/h
Beechcraft King Air 350 · 9 seatsfrom £1,650/h

For a sector this long we look for an aircraft positioned in the Gulf or in South-East Asia as well as in Britain, so the dates should reach us while they can still move.

Business aviation airports in Vietnam

Vietnam has close to thirty airports, all run by the national airports corporation, and only a few take a business jet from abroad. The first rows are the ones our flights use, the later rows matter mostly for onward legs:

Airport Ground How it operates
Hanoi Noi Bai
HAN / VVNB
Soc Son district, roughly 30 to 35 km north of the centre, about 45 minutes by road The northern gateway and the lowest-priced Vietnamese arrival in our tables. Two concrete runways, 11R/29L of 3,800 metres and 11L/29R of 3,200, with Terminal 2 for international flights and Terminal 1 for domestic ones. The airport, the tower, customs and immigration are listed as round the clock. There is no fixed-base operator: authorised local agents handle the aircraft, and a private room for the immigration formalities can be had for a fee.
Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat
SGN / VVTS
about 6 km north of the centre, inside the built-up city The busiest airport in the country and the usual business-jet destination in Vietnam. Two concrete runways, 07R/25L of 3,828 metres and 07L/25R of 3,050, only 365 metres apart and used as one, with a cap of 44 movements an hour (48 in the busiest periods). International flights use Terminal 2. A private immigration room is again an extra. One report puts a quiet period between midnight and 5 am, so we confirm night arrivals for your date. A tracked spell of seven weeks showed about 48 international business-jet movements, roughly one a day, so a stand and a handler are booked early
Da Nang International
DAD / VVDN
on the south side of the city, in the Hoa Cuong district The gateway to the central coast. Runways of 3,500 and 3,048 metres, an international terminal and a separate domestic one, and a private immigration room on request at a fee. The runways are shared with the air force, and military flying there is limited. A business jet is cleared in here for Hoi An, Hue and the coast resorts
Nha Trang Cam Ranh
CXR / VVCR
about 30 km (16 nautical miles) from Nha Trang Two parallel concrete runways of 3,048 metres, with Terminal 2 for international traffic. The airport is classed as public and military
Hue Phu Bai
HUI / VVPB
serving the old imperial city One of the five airports of entry that handlers list for business aviation, with full ground handling. We have no runway or hours data we trust for it, so the field's published limits are checked before we quote
Phu Quoc International
PQC / VVPQ
about 9 km south of the main town of the island A resort airport that replaced the old Duong Dong field. The runway is listed at about 3,000 metres, with a single terminal. It is not on the handlers' list of entry airports for a private flight from abroad, so a party that is going to the island clears in at Ho Chi Minh City or another entry airport and flies on under a domestic permit
Van Don (Ha Long Bay)
VDO / VVVD
on the coast of Quang Ninh, about 50 km from Ha Long and 20 km from Cam Pha A single concrete runway, 03/21, of 3,600 metres by 45, shared by civil and military flying. It is described as the first private airport in the country and is owned by the Sun Group. We ask the operator whether it takes business jets before we plan on it
Da Lat Lien Khuong
DLI / VVDL
about 30 km south of Da Lat, in the highlands A runway of 3,250 metres at an elevation of 962 metres; the elevation matters for take-off weights in the heat. Sources describe its international status differently, so the flight is planned from Ho Chi Minh City
Dubai, the usual technical stop
DXB / OMDB and DWC / OMDW
the Gulf, 3,067 nautical miles from Biggin Hill Two airports are available, and the choice depends on the handler, the slot and the aircraft. The stop of about an hour is already in the flying times

Long Thanh, a new international airport in Dong Nai province east of Ho Chi Minh City, has begun to receive airline flights. We have no business-aviation handling arrangements listed for it, so private flights to the south are planned on Tan Son Nhat unless the handler advises otherwise.

Four constraints shape every arrival:

A permit, about four working days

The civil aviation authority issues the landing permit. The usual time is about four business days, a day at short notice if the authority agrees, and a landing at a secondary airport adds a couple of days.

A handler who is not a terminal operator

Experienced agents are few and their English can be limited, so at a secondary airport the operator may have to bring a supervising handler from a larger city at its own cost.

No slots, but little room

The handlers' guides list no Vietnamese airport as needing a slot or prior permission, and they say noise rules do not apply. The real limit is stand space and runway capacity at Tan Son Nhat.

Seven days for the services

Handlers advise about a week to arrange the services, including the private immigration room, so the dates should reach us early.

Where the aircraft waits

At Tan Son Nhat the stands are shared with an airline operation of about forty million passengers a year, so a business jet can be asked to park briefly and reposition. For a stay of several days we compare leaving the aircraft in Ho Chi Minh City with sending it to Singapore or Bangkok and back.

Arriving from Britain: entry, permits and the handler

For passengers the border is simple, and for the aircraft the permit is what sets the date.

Visa
British citizens can visit Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days for tourism or business, and the immigration officer stamps the exit date in the passport. An e-visa, valid for 90 days and for several entries, is the route for a longer stay, and it binds you to the entry and exit points chosen when you apply
45 days
Passport
Valid for at least six months after arrival, with at least two blank pages and no damage. A damaged passport has led to refused entry and exit, and the same passport must be used to enter and to leave
every passenger
Arrival card
A digital arrival card completed online before landing is encouraged, though it is not compulsory, and the rule can change at short notice
before landing
Cash
Cash worth more than 15 million dong or 5,000 US dollars, or the equivalent, is declared on arrival. On leaving with more, you show proof from an authorised bank or approval from the State Bank of Vietnam
declare
Medicines
Prescription medicines travel in hand baggage with a copy of the prescription, and medication with a total value over 100 US dollars is declared
declare
Connections
A passenger who changes from an international to a domestic flight in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City clears immigration first, even when the final destination is outside Vietnam
immigration

The approvals behind every arrival

The landing permit. The application states the schedule, the operator, the registration, the airworthiness and registration certificates, worldwide insurance that includes war-risk cover, the crew and passengers, the purpose of the trip, a local business contact and the maximum and operating flight levels. The authority's office keeps weekday hours, roughly 08:30 to 16:30 local time.

The papers on board. The General Declaration is presented in two copies. If the departure airport has not prepared it, the handler can draw it up on arrival, and the handler also files the flight plan.

The overflight and the stop. An overflight permit takes about as long as a landing permit, a few hours at short notice, and the operator or its support company files whichever applies, together with the permits for the countries along the track from Britain to Dubai and on. The Vietnamese permits are typically valid for 72 hours, and the handlers' guides quote a shorter validity at some airports, so we agree the window in writing.

Passengers can clear immigration in the main terminal with the airline travellers, or in a private room at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang for an extra fee, where the handler takes the passports and returns them stamped. A prepaid car with a driver, arranged through the handler, is the recommended way in from the airport.

Coming home is a flight into Britain: a General Aviation Report goes to the border authorities not earlier than 48 hours and not later than two hours before departure, and British and Irish citizens need no electronic travel authorisation for Britain.

Which airport for which part of Vietnam

These are the usual pairings of address and airport, each checked against the permit:

Hanoi and the north
Noi Bai is open round the clock, with the capital about 45 minutes away by road
Noi Bai
Ha Long Bay
A seaplane from Hanoi to the marina on Tuan Chau Island, helicopter sightseeing from the island, or a short domestic flight to Van Don, about 50 km from Ha Long
Hanoi or Van Don
Hue and Hoi An
Da Nang is the airport of entry for the central coast, and Hue has its own airport of entry for the old capital
Da Nang or Hue
Nha Trang
Cam Ranh is about 30 km from the town and has two parallel runways of 3,048 metres
Cam Ranh
Ho Chi Minh City and the south
Tan Son Nhat is about 6 km from the centre, with a private immigration room on request
Tan Son Nhat
Phu Quoc
The island airport is a domestic leg from an airport of entry, with a runway of about 3,000 metres
Phu Quoc
Da Lat
Lien Khuong lies in the highlands, about 30 km from the town, at an elevation near a kilometre
Lien Khuong

Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and the islands: what our clients go for

Ho Chi Minh City takes most of the business traffic. It is the commercial capital of the country, and Tan Son Nhat is where, by the handlers' guides, most business jets arrive.

Hanoi is the capital, and the base for visits to the factories of the north. Bac Ninh holds twelve Samsung supplier plants and Thai Nguyen two, and buyers and engineers fly to Noi Bai to see them. A short domestic hop to Hai Phong reaches the northern port.

The central coast is where families go. Da Nang is the gateway to Hoi An, with its lantern-lit old town, and to Hue, whose citadel was the seat of the emperors. Both are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The islands are the other end of the trip. Phu Quoc is a beach resort with its own airport. Ha Long Bay, with its limestone islands, is reached from Hanoi by seaplane to Tuan Chau Island, about 170 km from the capital by road, and seen from the air by helicopter. Con Dao is an archipelago off Ho Chi Minh City with a short runway.

Sa Pa and Da Lat, in the cool highlands, suit guests who want something other than a beach.

Vietnamese seasons: three climates in one country

Vietnam is so long that the weather differs from north to south, and the right month for one region is the wrong one for another:

November to March
The dry months in the north. Winter in Hanoi is cool, between 10 and 18 degrees, and in the mountains around Sa Pa it can fall below freezing
north dry
July to September
The wet and stormy months in the north, with August the wettest and typhoons that can reach Ha Long Bay
north wet
February to August
The dry months on the central coast, with March to June the best for Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An
centre dry
September to December
The wet months on the central coast, with typhoons from August to November and a peak in October
centre wet
December to April
The dry season in Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc and Con Dao, with Phu Quoc best from November to April
south dry
May to November
The wet season in the south, wettest from June to October, and rough water on the west coast of Phu Quoc
south wet

Typhoons and a flight plan

From August to November we plan a central-coast trip with a spare day and a fuel margin for a diversion to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnamese calendar: Tet, the fireworks and the holidays

The dates that matter follow both the calendar and the moon:

20 December to 5 January
The international high season at Hoi An, Phu Quoc and Sa Pa, when hotels fill and aircraft are in demand at the same time
Late January or February
Tet, the lunar new year, lasting about seven to nine days. Domestic travel peaks, flights roughly double, and many family businesses close, so charter requests arrive weeks ahead
February to March

What a Vietnamese holiday does to a flight plan

The big dates fill the hotels and the aprons together, and a permit is requested for a window that can be hard to move. Plan weeks ahead, not days.

Flying to Vietnam with a dog or a cat

Vietnam admits dogs and cats that arrive with the right vaccination and a certificate, and the way home is the harder half, because Vietnam is not a listed country for Britain and a returning animal needs a blood test and a three-month wait. We obtain written confirmation of the rules before an animal is booked.

What Vietnam asks for on the way in

A rabies vaccination given at least 30 days and not more than 12 months before arrival, with an ISO microchip implanted before the vaccine, and a certificate from a licensed vet in Britain issued within seven days of departure and endorsed by the government veterinary authority.

An import permit from the Department of Animal Health, which one guide describes as the critical document and puts at seven to fifteen working days, while another says it is only needed for more than two animals. The accounts disagree, so we ask for the department's position in writing for each animal, and the veterinary officials at the entry airport are told the arrival time beforehand.

Animals are admitted by air at Hanoi Noi Bai and Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat, and Cam Ranh and Da Nang are also named by one guide. A pet with complete papers is normally released at once, and one with missing papers can be held for 10 to 30 days at the owner's expense. No national list of banned breeds is published, and the rules of Dubai are checked for an animal that stays aboard during the stop.

Coming home is stricter. Vietnam is not on the Great Britain list of countries with easier rules, so a dog or a cat needs a Great Britain pet health certificate and a rabies blood test:

  • The blood sample is taken at least 30 days after the rabies vaccination and sent to an approved laboratory;
  • The result has to show a rabies antibody level of at least 0.5 IU/ml;
  • The animal then waits three months from the day the sample was taken before it travels to Great Britain, and the test stays valid while the vaccinations are kept up to date.

A dog also needs a tapeworm treatment from a vet between 24 and 120 hours before arrival in Britain. The three-month wait is counted from the day of the sample, so it has to be planned before the outward flight, and we check with your vet whether a sample taken in Britain before departure counts for the way back. For a private flight we confirm the entry point and the paperwork for the animal in writing before the flight.

Other destinations, and the general rules for travelling with an animal on a private jet, are set out on our flying with pets guide.

Empty Legs

An empty leg is a flight the operator has to make anyway, with the cabin vacant, so it is priced low instead of being flown for nothing. On a route as long as this one the saving is large in cash, and the catch is as large.

Why empty legs to Vietnam are scarce

– Long-range aircraft that take a party out for Tet, the Christmas weeks or the summer often return to Europe or the Gulf empty a few days later, and the homeward leg is the useful one;

– The aircraft is seldom in the right place: a leg out of Ho Chi Minh City suits a client in the south and not one in Hanoi;

– A permit goes with the date, and the authority works on weekdays, so a leg that moves by a day can move the permit and sometimes the slot at the stop.

Clients who offer a window of several days match most often. Whatever is free is listed on our empty legs page. A selection of Vietnamese empty legs follows, at roughly 40 percent of a fresh charter:

Route Aircraft Capacity Whole aircraft
Vietnam (Hanoi) - UK (London Biggin Hill) Challenger 605 12 seats £49,650
Vietnam (Hanoi) - UK (London Luton) Challenger 605 12 seats £49,800
Vietnam (Hue) - UK (Farnborough) Challenger 605 12 seats £51,500
UK (London Biggin Hill) - Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) Challenger 605 12 seats £51,800
UK (London City) - Vietnam (Nha Trang) Challenger 605 12 seats £52,750
UK (Birmingham) - Vietnam (Da Nang) Global 6000 13 seats £70,650
Vietnam (Da Nang) - UK (Manchester) Global 6000 13 seats £70,950
UK (Edinburgh) - Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) Gulfstream G550 16 seats £75,450

Reading the empty-leg prices

– The price covers the whole aircraft, not a seat. A Global 6000 from Da Nang to Manchester with eight aboard comes to about £8,850 a head;

– The cost to you is flexibility: the date, often the hour, sometimes the airport.

Helicopter charter

Helicopter and seaplane flying in Vietnam is a small market around Hanoi, Da Nang and the bay of Ha Long. The operations we are asked for most are these:

Ha Long Bay by helicopter
the Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company, part of the state-owned Vietnam Helicopter Corporation, flies sightseeing routes from Tuan Chau Island, about 170 km from Hanoi, lasting from 12 to 40 minutes
12 to 40 minutes
Hanoi and Ha Long Bay by seaplane
Hai Au Aviation flies a Cessna Grand Caravan 208B EX with twelve passenger seats, and it lands at Tuan Chau Marina; the transfer between Hanoi and the bay takes about 45 minutes, and charter flights are offered as well as scheduled ones
about 45 minutes
Da Nang and the central coast
the central branch of the helicopter corporation is based at Da Nang International and at the Nuoc Man helibase
by arrangement
Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau
the southern branch is based at Vung Tau, and we confirm the aircraft and the landing site for your date
by arrangement

Before you plan around a helicopter

– The corporation belongs to the state and the army, and a landing site such as a hotel lawn or a private island needs its status and the permit confirmed before we quote, not after;

– Size. The company's aircraft seat from four to 24 passengers, so a larger party may need two lifts;

– Weather. In the north the stormy months run from July to September, and typhoons can reach Ha Long Bay, so a sightseeing flight in those months is planned with a spare day.

The rotary or seaplane leg is booked together with the rest of the itinerary.

Vietnamese charters from the booking notes: six typical trips

The six trips below are typical jobs assembled from booking notes with the details changed, so none of them is one named client or one date.

HANOI · THE LOWEST-PRICED WAY IN

A delegation visiting the factories of the north

London Biggin Hill - Hanoi Noi Bai, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 14 h 35 min · 6 pax

They had assumed that only an ultra-long-range jet could reach Vietnam. A Challenger 605 does it with one stop, and the party drove from Noi Bai to the plants the same morning.

HO CHI MINH CITY · A PRIVATE IMMIGRATION ROOM

Executives with a three-day round of meetings

London Luton - Ho Chi Minh City, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 15 h 15 min · 7 pax

The handler collected the passports and cleared them while the party waited in a private room, and the stand at Tan Son Nhat was booked with the permit.

DA NANG · HOI AN IN SPRING

Nine guests and a nanny on a family holiday

Birmingham - Da Nang, Global 6000 via Dubai, about 14 h 10 min · 10 pax

The trip was set for the dry months on the central coast, between March and June, and the family spent the week between Hoi An and Hue.

HA LONG BAY · BY SEAPLANE

A couple and two friends on a long weekend

London Farnborough - Hanoi Noi Bai, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 14 h 40 min · 4 pax

After a night in Hanoi they flew to the bay on a seaplane charter, in about 45 minutes, and returned to Noi Bai the same evening.

NHA TRANG · THE DRY SEASON IN THE SOUTH

Two families escaping the British winter

London Biggin Hill - Cam Ranh, Challenger 605 via Dubai, about 15 h 25 min · 8 pax

December to April is the dry season in the south, and the booking was made two months ahead because Christmas and Tet fill the aircraft and the hotels.

EMPTY LEG · HOMEWARD FROM DA NANG

A flexible return after a long stay

Da Nang - Manchester, Global 6000 empty leg, about 14 h 10 min · 6 pax

Offering a window of five days in place of a date is what made this one work. The client paid about £70,950, roughly 40 percent of a fresh one-way charter on the same sector, and left when the aircraft was ready to leave.

Frequently asked questions about flying to Vietnam

1Can a private jet fly from London to Vietnam nonstop?

A Gulfstream G550, a G650ER or a Global 7500 can plan it to Hanoi: the 5,174 planned nautical miles are about 77, 69 and 70 percent of their rated range, and the flight takes a little under eleven hours. To Ho Chi Minh City, 5,723 nautical miles, only the G650ER and the Global 7500 qualify. An operator has to confirm it in writing. Every other aircraft in our price table stops once, normally in Dubai.

2How long does a private jet take from the UK to Vietnam?

About 14 hours 35 minutes to Hanoi in a Challenger 605 with the stop in Dubai, about 13 hours 30 minutes in a Global 6000, and about 15 hours 10 minutes to Ho Chi Minh City in a Falcon 900LX.

3How much does a private jet to Vietnam cost?

From about £118,200 one way from London Biggin Hill to Hanoi on a Challenger 605 with a stop in Dubai. Da Nang costs from about £122,700, Ho Chi Minh City from about £123,350 and Nha Trang from about £125,550. Handling at the stop, the permits and the agent's fee are quoted on top.

4What do passengers need to enter Vietnam on a private flight?

British citizens can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days for tourism or business. The passport must be valid for at least six months after arrival and have two blank pages, and a digital arrival card is encouraged. The aircraft needs a landing permit, which takes about four business days and which we plan on a week, and a handler at the airport.

5Can my dog or cat travel with me to Vietnam on a private jet?

Yes, with a rabies vaccination at least 30 days and not more than 12 months before arrival, a microchip, a health certificate issued within seven days of departure and endorsed by the government vet, and, depending on the guide, an import permit from the Department of Animal Health. Coming home, Vietnam is not a listed country for Britain, so the animal needs a rabies blood test and a three-month wait from the day of the sample, as well as the Great Britain pet health certificate.

6Which airports can a private jet use in Vietnam?

Hanoi Noi Bai, Ho Chi Minh City Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Cam Ranh for Nha Trang and Hue Phu Bai are the airports of entry that handlers list for business aviation. Phu Quoc, Da Lat and Van Don are reached on a domestic leg. Every landing needs a permit naming the airport.
