Hire a Private Jet to Beijing, China

Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and the political, cultural and increasingly financial centre of the world's second largest economy - a city of twenty-two million people whose ancient imperial heritage, encompassing the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall, coexists with a modern metropolitan infrastructure built at a scale that few other cities in the world can match. Private jet charter to Beijing from the United Kingdom is a long-haul mission of approximately 4,400 nautical miles, typically flown in 9 hours 30 minutes to 10 hours 30 minutes depending on routing, winds and aircraft type. Beijing is served by two international airports: Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK / ZBAA), the established primary gateway located 25 km north-east of the city centre, and the new Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX / ZBAD), the extraordinary Zaha Hadid-designed terminal that opened in September 2019 and is located 46 km south of the city centre in the Daxing district. Private jet clients from the UK primarily use PEK for its proximity to central Beijing and the established private aviation handling infrastructure at the airport's general aviation terminal. A critical operational note for 2024 and beyond: the closure of Russian airspace to Western aircraft following February 2022 has fundamentally altered routing options for UK-Beijing private jet flights. Flights that previously operated via polar or trans-Siberian routing must now fly south through Central Asian airspace (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan) or via the Middle East, adding approximately 1 to 2 hours to the sector time compared to pre-2022 routing.

private jet charter Beijing

Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK / ZBAA) is located 25 km north-east of Beijing city centre and is one of the busiest airports in the world by passenger numbers. Terminal 3, designed by Norman Foster and opened for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is one of the largest airport buildings in the world. A dedicated general aviation terminal handles private aviation at PEK, with VIP lounge facilities and ramp access. Journey time from PEK to Beijing city centre (Wangfujing, the CBD, the Forbidden City area) is approximately 40 to 60 minutes by chauffeured car depending on traffic, or 30 minutes via the Airport Express rail link to Dongzhimen. Beijing Daxing Airport (PKX / ZBAD), the new Zaha Hadid-designed terminal 46 km south of the city centre, is also available for private aviation and may be preferred for clients with meetings in southern Beijing or the Daxing economic zone. Journey time from Daxing to the city centre is approximately 50 to 70 minutes by car. UK citizens require a visa to enter China - the standard business visa (M visa) or tourist visa (L visa) must be obtained in advance from the Chinese Embassy in London. Processing time is typically 4 to 7 working days for standard applications.

Beijing draws private aviation clients for a distinctive set of reasons. Government and diplomatic travel is substantial: the city is the seat of the Chinese government, the National People's Congress, the major state ministries and the leadership of China's largest state-owned enterprises. For UK corporations with significant China operations or seeking Chinese government relationships, Beijing is the primary port of call. Corporate finance and deal-making is a growing sector: the Beijing CBD, Zhongguancun Science Park (China's Silicon Valley), the Financial Street district and the 798 Art District all generate private aviation traffic from UK financial, technology and investment institutions. Cultural and heritage tourism is another category: the Forbidden City (the largest palace complex in the world), the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace, the hutong alleyways of Dongcheng and the Great Wall of China - both the accessible Mutianyu and Jinshanling sections, 70 to 100 km north of the city - represent one of the greatest concentrations of historical heritage anywhere in the world. And major events including CIFTIS (China International Trade in Services Fair, September) and the various National Day celebrations generate spikes in inbound private aviation from the UK and Europe.

Private jet charter prices to Beijing from London start from approximately 58,000 EUR on a Global 6000 for the current Central Asian routing. The exact price depends on the specific routing approved by Chinese aviation authorities, fuel stop requirements, overflight permit costs across multiple airspaces, crew overnight arrangements, and the number of passengers. Beijing is a complex mission that requires careful flight planning, and we advise allowing 5 to 7 working days for permit processing for first-time China missions.

Private Jets UK provides access to more than 6500 aircraft worldwide, including light jets, midsize aircraft, heavy jets and ultra long-range business aircraft. For Beijing missions, we work with operators whose aircraft are certified for Chinese airspace operations and who have established relationships with Chinese ground handlers. Our aviation consultants manage the full permit and overflight authorisation process for China missions.

With more than 15 years of experience in business aviation, we arrange private jet charter flights to Beijing from airports across the United Kingdom. Our team manages aircraft sourcing, routing optimisation, overflight permit applications across Central Asian and Chinese airspace, VIP terminal arrangements, ground transfers and onward connections across China and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

reservation and payment for a private jet flight

An important planning note for Beijing: China operates a strict air traffic management system and all private aviation overflight and landing permits must be obtained in advance through CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) and the relevant Central Asian aviation authorities en route. For standard missions, permit processing takes 5 to 7 working days. For urgent or last-minute Beijing trips, expedited processing is available in some cases but cannot always be guaranteed. We strongly recommend submitting Beijing flight requests at least 7 to 10 working days before the intended departure date to ensure smooth permit clearance.

How long does it take to fly to Beijing?

The flight time on the private jet. Note: all timings below reflect current routing via Central Asian airspace following the closure of Russian airspace to Western aircraft since February 2022. Pre-2022 trans-Siberian routing was approximately 1 to 2 hours shorter.

The exact flight time depends on the aircraft type, winds, the specific approved routing and whether a fuel stop is required. The Global 6000 and Global 7500 can operate the UK-Beijing sector non-stop via Central Asian routing. The Gulfstream G650ER and Falcon 8X are also capable of the non-stop sector under favourable conditions. Smaller long-range jets may require a single fuel stop in Central Asia or the Middle East. Our flight planning team optimises routing for each mission based on current overflight permit availability and wind forecasts.

Prices for the private jet flights to Beijing

Beijing is a complex long-haul mission, and the total charter cost reflects several factors that do not apply to shorter European routes. The base flight cost on a Global 6000 for the approximately 4,400 nm sector is the largest component, but overflight permit fees across multiple airspaces (UK, France or Germany, Austria or Hungary, Turkey or Romania, Georgia or Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan, and China) add meaningful cost. Chinese landing fees at PEK for private aviation are significant. Crew overnight accommodation if the mission involves an extended Beijing stay, and positioning costs if the aircraft needs to travel to the UK departure airport, complete the cost structure.

Clients should also note that Chinese aviation authorities require specific documentation for aircraft operating in Chinese airspace, and some operators whose aircraft are not registered for China operations cannot legally take the mission. We work exclusively with operators whose aircraft and crews meet CAAC requirements for Chinese airspace.

The closure of Russian airspace since February 2022 has added cost as well as time to UK-Beijing missions. The pre-2022 trans-Siberian routing was shorter, had fewer overflight jurisdictions and lower permit costs. Current Central Asian routing involves more permit jurisdictions and in some cases fuel stop costs if winds are unfavourable for a non-stop sector.

Aircraft for Flights to Beijing

Beijing requires ultra-long-range aircraft for a non-stop mission from UK airports. The sector of approximately 4,300 to 4,400 nm exceeds the range of most standard long-range jets on full passenger loads, particularly on current Central Asian routing which adds distance compared to the pre-2022 trans-Siberian route.

online private jet directory

  • Bombardier Global 7500 - the preferred aircraft for UK-Beijing missions requiring maximum range, comfort and sleeping capacity. Range exceeds 7,700 nm, comfortably covering any routing scenario. Full flat-bed sleeping for up to 10 passengers, with a dedicated stateroom on some configurations. The standard choice for government delegations and deal teams requiring rested arrival;
  • Bombardier Global 6000 - the most frequently used aircraft for UK-Beijing, with a range of 6,000 nm that covers the Central Asian routing comfortably. Sleeping capacity for 8 to 10 passengers on overnight configurations. The most cost-efficient ultra-long-range option for the mission;
  • Gulfstream G650ER - range of 7,500 nm, sleeping for up to 10 passengers. The extended-range version of the G650 is required for the UK-Beijing non-stop mission on some routing scenarios;
  • Dassault Falcon 8X - range of 6,450 nm with a tri-engine configuration that provides additional safety margin on long overwater and remote terrain sectors. Accommodates 13 to 16 passengers in day configuration;

Routing and overflight permits for China

Flying a private jet to Beijing from the UK is operationally more complex than any European destination and requires careful advance planning. The key elements are:

  • Russian airspace closure (since February 2022): Western-registered private aircraft cannot transit Russian airspace. Current routing from the UK to Beijing goes south through Central Asia - typically via Turkey or the Caucasus, then Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan or Tajikistan, and into China via the Xinjiang or Inner Mongolia entry points. This adds approximately 1 to 2 hours to the sector versus the pre-2022 trans-Siberian routing;
  • Overflight permits: each airspace jurisdiction on the Central Asian routing requires a separate overflight permit - typically 5 to 8 jurisdictions depending on the specific route. Processing times vary from same-day (Turkey) to 3 to 5 working days (Chinese airspace clearance via CAAC). Total permit lead time for a Beijing mission should be treated as a minimum of 5 working days, ideally 7 to 10;
  • CAAC approval: China's Civil Aviation Administration requires advance approval for all foreign private aircraft operating in Chinese airspace. The application must include aircraft registration, operator certificate, insurance documents and crew licence details. CAAC approval typically takes 3 to 5 working days;
  • Fuel planning: on current Central Asian routing, some aircraft configurations may require a technical fuel stop in Central Asia or the Middle East. We assess non-stop capability for each specific aircraft and routing before confirming the itinerary;
  • Currency and payment: all Chinese airport fees must be paid in Chinese Yuan (CNY). We manage all local fee payments through our Beijing handling partner and include them in the all-in charter price.

China connections from Beijing

Beijing is the natural hub for connecting across China's major cities by private jet. Locally sourced aircraft are available within China for domestic sectors, which is often more cost-efficient than retaining the UK departure aircraft for internal hops:

  • Shanghai (PVG / SHA) - 594 nm / 1,100 km - approximately 1 hour 37 minutes by jet. China's financial capital and the primary hub of the Yangtze Delta economic zone;
  • Hong Kong (HKG) - 1,076 nm / 1,992 km - approximately 2 hours 36 minutes by jet. The special administrative region and Asia's leading international financial centre;
  • Seoul (ICN) - 487 nm / 902 km - approximately 1 hour 24 minutes by jet. South Korea's capital, a natural extension of China business itineraries;
  • Tokyo (HND / NRT) - 1,130 nm / 2,092 km - approximately 2 hours 42 minutes by jet;
  • Chengdu (CTU) - 840 nm / 1,556 km - approximately 2 hours 7 minutes by jet. Gateway to western China, Sichuan and the Chengdu technology sector;
  • Guangzhou / Shenzhen (CAN / SZX) - approximately 2 hours 30 to 35 minutes by jet. The Pearl River Delta manufacturing and technology hub.

Visa and entry requirements for China

UK citizens require a visa to enter mainland China. Key requirements:

  • Business visa (M visa): required for commercial and business visits. Requires an invitation letter from a Chinese business entity or partner organisation;
  • Tourist visa (L visa): for leisure and cultural visits. Standard documentation includes passport, photo, completed application form and return travel evidence;
  • Processing time: standard processing at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in London is 4 to 7 working days. Express processing (2 to 3 days) and rush processing (same day or next day) are available at additional cost;
  • 72/144-hour transit visa exemption: does not apply to private aviation arrivals - standard visa requirements apply regardless of aircraft type;
  • Validity: visas are typically issued for multiple entries valid for 1 or 2 years, with each stay limited to 30 or 60 days depending on the visa type and bilateral arrangements.

We recommend beginning the visa application process at least 2 weeks before the intended travel date to allow time for any queries or additional documentation requests from the Chinese consular authority.

Flying to Beijing with your pet

Pet import to mainland China is significantly more complex than EU pet entry and requires careful advance planning. Chinese pet import requirements are among the most demanding in the world:

  • Health certificate issued by a veterinarian accredited by a CNAS (China National Accreditation Service) recognised laboratory or equivalent;
  • Microchip (ISO 11784/11785);
  • Rabies titre test (blood test confirming adequate antibody levels) conducted at least 30 days before travel at a WHO-recognised laboratory;
  • Advance import permit from GACC (General Administration of Customs of China) - this must be applied for at least 30 days before travel;
  • Chinese health certificate issued or endorsed by Chinese authorities - requirements vary and may need to be confirmed with the Chinese Embassy;
  • All dogs and cats are subject to a quarantine period in China (typically 7 days at an approved quarantine facility) even with all documentation in order.

Given the complexity of Chinese pet import requirements, we recommend beginning the process at least 8 to 10 weeks before travel and engaging a specialist pet relocation company familiar with Chinese import protocols. We can recommend suitable partners on request.

Empty Leg Flights to Beijing

True empty legs on the UK-Beijing corridor are rare due to the complexity and cost of the mission - operators rarely release ultra-long-range jets on Beijing sectors at standard empty leg discounts. However, positioning opportunities do occasionally arise when aircraft need to reposition from Beijing to other Asian hubs or return to Europe after China missions. We monitor these opportunities and will advise when they arise.

  • London - Beijing | Global 6000 | 12 passengers | from £36,000 (positioning opportunity);
  • Beijing - London | Global 7500 | 14 passengers | from £42,000 (positioning opportunity);

Beijing positioning opportunities are rare and typically available with short notice windows of 24 to 72 hours. Contact us directly to register your interest in this corridor.

Helicopter charter

Private Jets UK clients have access to the top private helicopters. Beijing and the broader northern China region offer meaningful helicopter connections for clients combining city meetings with the surrounding region:

  • Beijing Capital Airport helipad - helicopter connections from PEK for executive transfers to urban helipads in the Beijing CBD and government quarter, avoiding road traffic delays;
  • Beijing to Mutianyu Great Wall - approximately 25 to 30 minutes by helicopter. The most accessible and well-preserved section of the Great Wall, 70 km north-east of Beijing, is most dramatically approached by air. Helicopter landing at the designated helipad near the wall provides private access;
  • Beijing to Jinshanling Great Wall - approximately 35 to 40 minutes by helicopter. The less-visited and arguably more spectacular section of the wall, 125 km north-east of Beijing;
  • Beijing to Tianjin - approximately 30 to 35 minutes by helicopter. China's fourth largest city and major port, 120 km south-east of Beijing, frequently combined with capital city visits for port and logistics meetings;
  • Beijing city executive transfers - helicopter transfers between the two Beijing airports (PEK and Daxing) and central Beijing helipads significantly reduce transfer times during peak traffic hours.

The following helicopters are available for booking in Beijing and northern China:

  • Airbus Helicopters H135 (6 seats) - 3 helicopters available

Beijing private jet charter - FAQ

How long is a private jet flight from London to Beijing?
On current routing via Central Asian airspace (following the closure of Russian airspace to Western aircraft since February 2022), a non-stop private jet from London to Beijing takes approximately 9 hours 35 minutes on a Global 6000. Pre-2022, trans-Siberian routing was approximately 8 hours 30 minutes to 9 hours. The additional hour reflects the longer Central Asian routing required since 2022.

How much does a private jet to Beijing cost?
Private jet charter to Beijing from London starts from approximately 58,000 EUR on a Global 6000 for 12 passengers, including overflight permits and standard Beijing handling. A Global 7500 for 14 passengers costs approximately 74,000 EUR. A Gulfstream G650ER costs approximately 66,000 to 68,000 EUR. Total cost varies significantly based on crew overnight requirements for extended stays, internal China sectors and return routing.

How far in advance do I need to book a private jet to Beijing?
We recommend a minimum of 7 to 10 working days to allow time for CAAC approval and Central Asian overflight permits. For government delegations and missions requiring diplomatic clearance, 2 to 3 weeks is advisable. Last-minute Beijing missions (under 5 working days) can sometimes be accommodated but carry risk of permit delays.

Do I need a visa for China?
Yes. UK citizens require a visa to enter mainland China - either a business visa (M visa, requires invitation letter from a Chinese entity) or tourist visa (L visa) for leisure travel. Standard processing at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in London is 4 to 7 working days. The 72/144-hour transit visa exemption does not apply to private aviation arrivals.

Can I fly non-stop from the UK to Beijing?
Yes, on suitable ultra-long-range aircraft. The Global 6000 (range 6,000 nm), Global 7500 (7,700 nm) and Gulfstream G650ER (7,500 nm) can operate the approximately 4,300 to 4,400 nm sector non-stop on current Central Asian routing under typical conditions. Aircraft with shorter ranges may require a fuel stop in Central Asia or the Middle East on some routing scenarios.

Can I combine Beijing with Shanghai or Hong Kong on the same charter?
Yes. Shanghai is 594 nm from Beijing (approximately 1 hour 37 minutes by jet) and Hong Kong is 1,076 nm (approximately 2 hours 36 minutes). Seoul is 487 nm east (1 hour 24 minutes). We arrange China and Asia-Pacific circuits combining Beijing with multiple city destinations as a single connected itinerary, using locally sourced aircraft within China where this is more cost-efficient than retaining the UK departure aircraft.

Which aircraft is best for a private jet to Beijing?
The Bombardier Global 7500 is the preferred choice for maximum range, cabin comfort and sleeping capacity on the 9.5-hour sector - particularly for government delegations and deal teams requiring rested arrival. The Global 6000 is the most cost-efficient non-stop option. The Gulfstream G650ER and Falcon 8X are also capable of the non-stop mission. We confirm non-stop capability for each specific aircraft and routing at the time of quoting.

Beijing - destination overview

Beijing has been the political and cultural capital of China for most of the past seven centuries, a city whose imperial ambitions were expressed in monuments of extraordinary scale: the Forbidden City (Gugong), the largest palace complex in the world at 72 hectares, built between 1406 and 1420 for the Yongle Emperor and housing 980 buildings within its red walls; the Temple of Heaven (Tiantan), the ritual centre where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties conducted annual ceremonies of cosmic renewal; and the Great Wall, whose most visited sections at Badaling and Mutianyu north of the city are UNESCO World Heritage Sites of international significance, though the wall itself extends for thousands of kilometres across northern China.

The Forbidden City - now the Palace Museum and one of the most visited sites in the world - is best experienced with advance booking and, if possible, through one of the private curator-led visits that allow access to parts of the complex not open to the general public. The conservation studios, where some of the most significant restorations in Chinese cultural heritage are conducted, can be visited by invitation. Beijing's hutong neighbourhoods - the narrow lanes and courtyard houses (siheyuan) of the Dongcheng and Xicheng districts that predate the imperial era and once housed the majority of Beijing's population - are rapidly disappearing but remain the most intimate way to understand the texture of pre-modern urban life in the city. Nanluoguxiang, Wudaoying and the lanes around the Drum Tower are the most accessible hutong circuits for visitors with limited time.

Contemporary Beijing has developed at extraordinary speed. The 2008 Olympics transformed the north of the city, adding Herzog and de Meuron's National Stadium (the Bird's Nest), the Water Cube Aquatics Centre and the Olympic Green park. The CBD east of the historic centre has grown into one of the most dramatic contemporary skylines in Asia, with towers by Rem Koolhaas (CCTV Headquarters), Zaha Hadid and a generation of Chinese architects that has used Beijing as a laboratory for urban architecture on a scale not seen since Haussmann's Paris. The 798 Art District in the Chaoyang district - a complex of repurposed Bauhaus-era factory buildings originally built by East German engineers in the 1950s - has become China's most internationally recognised contemporary art zone, with galleries including Pace Beijing, Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art (UCCA) and a dense network of studios, cafes and design shops.

Beijing's luxury hotel scene is concentrated in three areas: the CBD and Sanlitun diplomatic district in Chaoyang, the historic centre near the Forbidden City and Wangfujing, and the new financial district in Xicheng:
